So what other content type would you have replace JPs? More PvE mobs to easily gib? OMG that would be so boring.
Jumping Puzzles are supposed to be challenging. If you hate JPs it is because it is above your skill level. Heaven forbid you ever played Super Mario.
JPs as of late have been a great refresher IMO. They do need better rewards for the harder JPs at least.
Let’s get one thing straight. Achievement Points are meant to be difficult or take time to get. If you aren’t willing to challenge yourself you do not deserve to get achievement points.
“ACHIEVEMENT” -1. The act of accomplishing or finishing.
2. Something accomplished successfully, especially by means of exertion, skill, practice, or perseverance.Hate them because they are boring as all kitten. And what you get for doing them isn’t remotely worth the time. Blue off a champ is a better reward ratio. And I HAVE done most of them. Doesn’t change the fact that I still despise them. Hating them doesn’t even remotely equate with them being “above the skill lvl” Assuming so, just shows you’re an kitten .
I think I missed the part where GW2 forces you to do things you hate. You hate JPs, don’t do them, who cares. I know I don’t.
If you need to do 1 mild JP to finish getting the Bazaar achievements and don’t want to because you hate JPs, then news for you: you don’t finish the meta. You aren’t forced to get the meta in order to play this game. If you want to finish it so you can get something you want, then you are forcing yourself to do something you hate, not Anet. You can just as easily look at the Quartz node and say “meh, whatever, I hate JPs, they don’t have a gun to my head”. Rather than “omg I hate JPs, but I want this Quartz node, nooooo, can’t. stop. hands. from. using. keyboard….curse you Anet, you are forcing me to do something I hate! Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”

The story is going towards a big jumping puzzle if you have noticed. Eventually the whole GW2 world will be a big jumping puzzle over flying dragons and water…
Soon enough JPs will be introduced in dungeons because apparently people should not farm dungeons more than once a day. CoF will be a big melting JP and flying angry mobs over our heads…
Like that guy said before, JP is the fun part of GW2 and lets make it more fun by having enforced JPs in every part of the game…It is all about having some fun right?

Actually it is less random because of the scraps. It’s a similar system to the Wintersday stuff.
These are also tradeable until used.
Except we know the cost of them on the TP will be really high. It may be slightly less random, but its still really random. Now instead of having a chance at a new key to open another chest (which was already pretty low), we now have to hope for 3 things instead of two.
If they can be purchased on the TP then this whole topic was a waste of time. That takes the RNG 100% out of it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
They are trying to create a LIVING world. You know, like how the real world works.
Is that the best you can really do? As others have pointed out, the existing maps are for the most part static, save for repeatable events like veteran monsters spawning, bandit raids repeating, etc. And why is it we cannot kill other players in PvE, kill NPCs, etc.? How is that like how the real world works??
GW2 is supposed to be casual gamer friendly and heavy on cooperative play. It’s flat out not designed for anything like the real world. Trying to make a game behave like the real world requires a completely different approach from the ground up. The most obvious example is EVE Online:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/10/28/eve-evolved-top-ten-ganks-scams-heists-and-
events/If you want a real world like experience, then you are playing the wrong game.
And as a side note, one of the original big selling points of the games was “play they way you want to play”. The whole LW adding and the removing content is anathema to that. And like I said above, it should be obvious the real goal has been to sell more gems.
Well considering you took one line out of my entire post….?
The LW is not anathema to playing how you want to play. You can play anyway you want to play, you just can’t freaking time travel to events that have already passed!
Do you really, honestly, think that a developer saying “you can play the way you want to play” meant that you can do whatever the hell you want? What if I want to be able to ride a mount? OMG it’s not the way I want to play you liars!! What if I want to be able to level up to 80 strictly doing my personal story, nope can’t do that either.
You are really stretching to make your point.
I was not saying that this fantasy world they’ve created is supposed to be like real life. Yes, in real life you can take a crap on the floor too, how come I don’t have a Take a Crap skill?
We were specifically talking about the Living Story and what they are trying to accomplish with it. It isn’t the “Living Story that Gets Archived for Later Access”, it’s supposed to try and mimic a timeline of events. That’s it.
You can try to take the things Anetand I and other posters are saying out of context all you want, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Living Story events not being accessible when they finish is by design and that people like me enjoy it thoroughly.
Maybe play the game and you wouldn’t have to spend so much time complaining about how you can’t redo content you missed when you weren’t playing.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So now, every two weeks we have new contents. Good! I like it. It’s happening soon enough everytime and we can play it as we want.
However with the new achievement rewards, I feel like we don’t have enough time between releases to complete everything. Why, because it takes time and dedication to properly get all the achievements and therefore the points to progress. Some people can do it in two weeks. Some other not. Me, for instance, it takes time before I get immersed. I do the achievements only on week-ends and well, in two week-ends, I don’t always have the time to make all achievements.
So could you have a new release every 2 weeks, yes, but remove it only after 4 weeks, having an overlap between two stories for 2 weeks?
Thanks for considering this
In most cases the achievements are available more than two weeks. Every two weeks they add another step it seems. I know I’m still able to get kite fortunes and such and it’s been over two weeks now.
The other way to look at this is: if you don’t have the time to get all of the achievements. Perhaps you should be OK getting most but not all. Achievement collecting tends to lean towards people with more time to play. If you are really strapped for time to get the LS achievements done (hard to believe considering that they can all be completed in two days or so if you sit down and do them—I play 1-2hrs/day MAX and had every achievement done last week).
I mean isn’t the content the important part? Do you really need to do Sanctum Sprint 25 times? If you’ve done it let’s say 8 times, is that not satisfactory for you to have experienced it? If your entire goal is 100% achievement completion, then you either have the time or you don’t. Two weeks really is ample time to complete these if you play even semi regularly.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Interestingly enough I’m in the exact opposite boat of OP. The temporary content is what actually keeps me coming back rather than taking long breaks (which I feel is the whole idea).
They are trying to create a LIVING world. You know, like how the real world works. You miss an event in real life, you can’t relive it. That’s the concept they are trying out in GW2. It’s a timeline and things have a beginning and an end. You miss out on the stuff in the past, that’s where it stays, in the past. If you want some kind of time travel, do Fractals.
I 100% love the Living Story concept. It’s different, it’s fresh, and it keeps me logging in every day, week, and month.
Sounds like those that weren’t really showing GW2 any attention are mad they missed out on stuff, but that’s how life goes. You weren’t playing, why should you be able to experience something that people who are dedicated to the game got to experience? There are thousands of video games out there that I’m sure will be closer to what you’re looking for. GW1 for example.
You could look at it and say “Well screw you Anet, if I can’t replay things that I missed then I don’t want to experience anything ever and I quit!”
Or you could take the reasonable approach and say “Darn, I missed a lot of stuff from taking a long break! I don’t want to miss out on anything else so I will be sure to log in for 5 hours or so about every month…”
And the military/other obligations argument: They are exactly that → other obligations. You made a choice to sacrifice some luxuries by enlisting or doing any of the other things that take away time from a video game. Those were choices (very good and respectable choices) and less video games/missed video game content is a consequence. Man/woman up and accept it.
If you won’t put in the minuscule amount of effort it takes to do the LS achievements (can be done in 1 sitting in most cases), then you don’t really deserve to get anything from it. That’s how it works everywhere else in the world.
Anet wants GW2 to try and mimic aspects of real life with their Living Story and they are succeeding at it. You can tell its succeeding by all the people complaining they missed out on content while they were busy not playing GW2….
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I would actually prefer all weapon skins except for dagger and shortbow. Seems you really want those two skins, so I figured I should say the opposite.
That’s what forums are for right?
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Biggest problem with Southsun is that it is, on average, a much harder place to play than any other zone with no real increased rewards. Why spend the time killing a Veteran Karka when you can kill 5 veterans in the same amount of time somewhere else with better rewards?
If they made the rewards more in line with the difficulty there, I feel more would go there, because right now it’s just a zone that takes longer to kill things than any other zone. Why would anyone choose that option?

OMG this isn’t fair! I took a break for 5months and wasn’t able to get achievement points and so now I will never catch up to people that have been playing!

This must be a wind up, surely? Blaming Anet cause you took a break is crazy talk.
Yes of course. I was hoping the sarcasm was obvious enough lol. I’ve never taken a break I have 6100 AP so I’m good lol.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. It’s been like this from the dawn of time. The quiet person who just works and doesn’t complain will not get special treatment. The person who complains constantly and yells the loudest will get special treatment.
Sad but true.
Companies get taken advantage by “savvy” consumers this way. It’s like the people that buy things from Wal-Mart, use them for a year, then return them for a full refund. If you don’t refund them they make a scene, so they just refund them. Or, and this is no joke, someone buying a roasted chicken, eating 3/4 of it, and returning it saying they didn’t like it for a full refund. <— this actually works in most grocery stores.
It’s easier not to deal with the headache of whiners than to argue with them.
I hope the same doesn’t start applying to GW2 and forum QQers.

With the significant size of the player base who dislike or hate jumping puzzles, making a month of jumping puzzle content was a foreseeably bad idea. Every update I am more baffled trying to figure out the thinking behind each decision. smh
I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to anyone that dislikes the jumping puzzles outside of the QQers in the forums. And even then it’s a small minority.
That means there aren’t any. Please make a blog revealing to everyone all of the universal truths you’ve learned based on your experience.
Not sure how you got to the conclusion that me saying that “I don’t think I’ve ever spoken to anyone that dislikes JPs” means that no one dislikes jumping puzzles. That is a bit of a stretch. The premise of that statement was that it is likely a small minority that don’t like JPs, versus the “significant size of the player base” not liking JP that you seemed to claim.
Bit like the pot calling the kettle black don’t ya think?

Here’s another way to look at it that might put it into perspective:
Let’s say that typical first place comes in at I dunno 3min into the race. Not sure what the real time is I’ve never looked from when I get 1st. Let’s say 3min is a strong finish, good sprinter, gets every shortcut, this guy is almost always in first.
Let’s say there is another person who is playing in the same group and constantly is getting second. He’s coming in at let’s say 3min 3secs. So close to first each time but that one guy is good, no one is debating that. Just can’t seem to edge the guy out.
Starwipe transition to a different Sanctum Sprint group. A mix of hodgepodge runners, maybe one guy that is decent. First place in this group seems to come in at 4min-4min15secs. And this group is a kind group that rotates wins. Not a requirement but a nice thing they are doing.
Is it honestly fair to say that the person who keeps coming in 2nd from the first group hasn’t earned a 1st place? On face value obviously this would be true because he did in fact come in 2nd. But why did he come in 2nd? Was it because he is bad at the game? His average time would put him at 1st in almost every other matchup, so no. So why does he constantly come in 2nd? Because there is a person who is slightly better that comes in 1st every time!
“Ok, so what! That’s how the game works! It’s an achievement you have to earn it!”
But really, really think about it. This person and others could have already completed the achievement in any other normal circumstance if it weren’t for one person deciding that they aren’t worthy yet.
“You have to defeat ME in order to get the achievement muahahahahahahaha!”
If you take a step back, at least in my opinion, that person who keeps getting in first technically isn’t doing anything wrong, but man what massive tool. Anyone would agree with that.

Ever since someone helped me out with the Box O Fun trick I’ve been telling everyone who has had the displeasure of playing against bugged Adnul.
Set up a Box O Fun right before playing him, set it to anything really, petrify I hear is the best. Start the bluff challenge with him, on your turn use the box, sit back and watch as Adnul drinks himself to death while you are invulnerable.
Works 100%. If Anet isn’t going to fix a bugged encounter, then odds are they won’t fix this loophole either.
Enjoy!

I encourage all the players who are not so interested in JPs to go out and try out this content…
Agreed. They aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. Most of the ones that complain about JPs have literally never tried them. Or tried one, fell a few times and quit, then denounce every other JP in the game.
Some of them are seriously easy. There are some that make you want to pull your hair out, sure, but the ones for the BoTFW achievements are easy peasy.
If you’ve played the game and let’s say have jumped across anything, then you can do a JP… usually the hard part is figuring out where to jump to, not necessarily the jumping itself, so saying you suck at jumping isn’t really an excuse not to do the puzzles. Saying you suck at puzzles isn’t really an excuse either because you can look up how to do it.
That said, there are definitely some puzzles that are hard and will test your jumping skills. You’ll know them when you try them, there is no shame in skipping those if you don’t want to complete them.

This whole discussion boils down to the hardcore vs casual players essentially.
Hardcore players are the ones who feel zerker gear is the be all end all of PvE dungeon running. Nothing else will be accepted or tolerated. They want the fastest runs possible and will boot you if you cannot meet those requirements. They look at dungeon running as work to get through ASAP so they can work on the next dungeon to blaze through.
The casuals are the ones who think all builds are viable and that you don’t need zerker anything to complete content. They are the ones that don’t want to skip every group of monsters so they can get to the boss faster. They want to play the game as they want, maybe as a shout guardian or a crit ele or something. They don’t mind if a run takes 45min-1hr, they have fun regardless because they enjoy the content.
Which is better? Who cares really. Both groups get the content done.
Here’s a problem I’ve seen with this zerker build issue: it’s becoming so widespread that you simply must have zerker that everyone is getting it. Good players and bad players alike. You know what it’s like running a group with a bad player in zerker? No no, take a minute and think about it. How about 3 players from the same guild all in zerker, all equally terrible? It ruins dungeons. Sure there are the good players that will benefit you, but they are the ones telling everyone that you have to have zerker gear, so then what do people who just hit 80 work on? Getting their zerker gear. Then they treat dungeons like they are out soloing monsters in freaking Plains of Ashford.
If you aren’t the hardcore OMG ZERKER OR GTFO player, then make sure you are always group leader and that you make the group. Easy way to know who to boot? Ask if they are in zerker gear. If they are, laugh at them and boot them. I’ve had too many wannabes think they are hot kitten with their zerker gear and we spend the majority of the time rezzing them. You do the group no good dead.
Let the full zerker teams play with each other. That’s the way they want it anyway. Everyone wins.

It’s not exactly “free” Cellach, its 5000 achi points of work and you get it in a mixed bundle, but even a crafting booster is better than this, since I can waste a bit of gold and get some extra skill points in the process.
And I don’t see your point Rottram Owain, I still have all my slots maxed out, I’m not gonna buy a new slot to farm keys or to use the scroll on a profession I already got at lvl 80.
But it is free….unless using the chest is depleting your achievement points somehow….you lose absolutely nothing and gain a bunch of stuff. You really want to complain that one of the items you got isn’t usable for you personally?
I bet you that the experience scroll will be useful to at least 90% of the population. More so than say, the PvP chests that drop a bunch of skins you will never use and/or skins you already have. I’ve destroyed so many PvP skins since this achievement chest thing started. Am I complaining? Nope….it’s free stuff, why the kitten would I complain about it.

I did 16/16 in two days, playing maybe a couple of hours each day.
Anyone who says the Bazaar achi is not accessible should just give up gaming or just play some Facebook games.
Seriously.
And game a___oles like you are the reason most people never try mmos
Tosser!
Hate to agree with Tom here , but if you seriously can’t get these particular achievements done for the meta in the two weeks, you really should re-evaluate your gaming skills. Most of the achievements do not require finishing a jumping puzzle.
Sanctum sprint you can come in last and still get credit for finishing. You may not be able to get the achievements for coming in top 3 or in first, but that’s just 2 out of all of the achievements. Anyone who quits because they keep falling is just that: quitters.
Heck, the group I was running with took a poll of who still needed the achievements before the race started then we all just let them get those achievements. This isn’t typical mind you, but you’d be surprised how willing people are to help casual players complete more difficult content—only requirement? TRYING IT.
A couple of the JPs really aren’t that bad. The ones that refuse to even touch JP content, I have a feeling they haven’t even tried some of the JPs. I mean Kites of the Night or whatever achievement for example, I think you jump once, maybe twice before you get to the kite. The kite in the fractals? That’s not even a JP! You get the kite doing the normal Colossal fractal!
It is so easy to get the meta in this LS and the ones complaining about it seriously haven’t put in any effort, otherwise they wouldn’t be complaining about it. They see that a JP is involved and it’s like “welp, not even gonna attempt this, I hate all JPs even if I haven’t tried them, this is BS Anet you made these achievements impossible for casual players!”
The Adnul fight is the only thing I will agree is utter BS, but you can google or check the forums for real easy ways to beat him (using Box O Fun and such).

I think a lot of the problem is that some players get to a new area, don’t see the typical “!” or “?” over someone’s head so they almost freeze because they just don’t know what to do without being told step by step exactly what to do and where to go. It’s the “now what” mindset of gaming. Some players are so used to having their hands held through content that if they get to a zone and it isn’t immediately clear where they need to go, they give up and quit, or go back to something they are more familiar.
I see this all the time. “Ok, I finished this zone, now what?” Gee I dunno, go explore something else? “That’s boring! I shouldn’t have to figure things out on my own I should be told exactly what to do and where to go”
And someone did address this already, but OP, that Canach fight you could literally do naked. It had nothing to do with gear, you just have to kite him into bombs, nothing more nothing less.

kitten ANet do you need a doctor or something?!
FIX THE BUG WITH WATER AND JUICE!!!!
Water is supposed to heal 20% and it heals only 10% and JUICE is supposed to dmg for 10% NOT for 20%.
Failure upon failure. Don’t release Living Story crap if you can’t QA it and hotfix crucial bugs!
Nope, juice is supposed to do 20% and heal is supposed to do 10%. Why on earth would it be the other way around!!
Also, Belcher’s Bluff has very little to do with the Living Story outside of the achievement you can get for beating all of the masters before this 2week period is over. It is a permanent mini game that you can complete at your leisure even after the Bazaar leaves.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Which brings me to my final point. There is no such thing as “blind” lucky! You have to do things to put yourself in a position to get lucky! If you never do dungeon, never open chests or do anything that gives you the opportunity to score big, that’s your fault! Luck, afterall, is a skill that can be learnt . So go play the kitten game and stop whining about your luck!
Lucky in life and lucky in a video game are not the same. I mean, I’d venture to say I’m lucky in life. Great job, great house, loving family, all that good stuff that the article was talking about.
In GW2 none of that matters. Using the coffers from Dragon Bash as an example. It took me 6000 coffer openings to get ONE jade ticket. I finally announced my joy in guild chat and not one, not two, but three other guildies remarked that they are on their 4th and 5th tickets in under 2000 coffers. Other guildies were in the same boat as me.
Did I miss an opportunity because I wasn’t paying attention? Was I not thinking positive? Nope. Was just bad luck any way you look at it. Or they had good luck. Luck in life is mostly a perception thing. You see the guy in the Ferrari and you think, “man that guy’s lucky!”. For all you know he’s had a thousand horrible experiences before finally getting to that point.
In GW2 luck is RNG. You can’t control it. You can try with MF, but even that only gets you so far.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
You can set up a Box O Fun (as change appearance only) within usable reach right before facing him and then use the box after the fight starts (in your .4sec window of using a skill). He will drink himself to death while you just regen.
Cheating yes, but this POS cheats too, so….
I wouldn’t normally condone such exploits, but considering you need to beat him to get the LS achievement and beating Adnul requires nothing more than RNG (or a regen booster if you happen to have one and don’t get screwed with RNG), I feel it’s a fair use.
Why on earth would you set it up for transform appearances when you can set it to petrify mode and take no damage at all, once the petrify takes over your body.
I did not use this method to get the achievement, I fought him the hard way which is the normal ten hours of your life flush down a mystic toilet way. But in fairness he is not right, he doesn’t seem to have a strategy that can be applied like all the others with a certain consistency. As soon as you are ahead he will spam the special and then it all goes downhill from there.
I know some of you got a lot of these box o’ fun’s from doing achievements. I guess well now its time your achievements are gonna help you get an achievement. I bet a few people are gonna be like holy crap, I wasted them things so they would not take up space in my bank.
Best use is that the specials are not account bound and if you want all six you will need to get them before its all over.
Well the person who told me said to use appearance. Petrify sounds like it would work much better. The core principle stays the same. This 100% works and will get you through this really, really, really bad encounter.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Most weeks I play 10-15hrs and I gotta say that I find every part of the Living World accessible. I haven’t finished all of the Sprinter races or gotten all 40 sky crystals or heck even the parachute pilferer, and yet I still have my meta achievement done.
If you seriously logged on, spent 5min in the Bazaar and left, then you have absolutely no right to say it isn’t accessible. You clearly didn’t even try…

I’m with ya here. Not sure why they haven’t made it so you can filter by armor type. That has to be one of the easiest lines of code you could possibly add that would make things soooo much better.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
A lot of you don’t seem to understand what I’m talking about. Perhaps I wasn’t being explicit enough.
Have you guys played a game called League of Legends? In that game you have champions that can get money by killing neutral monsters, minions and enemy champions. Using that money you can buy items, which improve the character’s stats in different ways depending what items you buy. Buying items presents a decision for the player: what kind of character you want to be? Items help the champion in fights and successful team wins the game. Itemization is interesting part of the game and it makes sense.
In Guild Wars 2, however, the items don’t make sense. What is the point of all this stuff you haul to the merchant? Did ArenaNet not have players playtesting the game with critical eye and questioning the decisions? Was it the kind of default impression that these types of games generally have tons of stuff to carry around so why not we do the same? Achievement rewards, loot boxes, daily chests, special event items. When I logged in from one month break I was flooded with all sort of event stuff. Where do I put these 250 baubles, 4 Bauble bubbles and 1 continue coin that I can no longer use? Give me a break!
Have you ever considered destroying the items you don’t want and can’t sell? I know, I know, it’s a lot of work to click and drag something out of your inventory, but it sure would get rid of the stuff that you apparently have no idea what it is. The baubles, bubbles and continue coin are for Super Adventure Box. Don’t plan on doing that again when it comes back? Toss ’em. Nothing is stopping you.
It’s like hoarders. If you haven’t used it in X amount of time, odds are you don’t need it and can toss it. Keep things you know exactly what they are for and could see a use for them. Don’t keep things for the sake of keeping them in the off chance sometime down the line maybe at some point you might consider possibly using the item. Maybe.
Seriously, each item in this game has a use. If that use does not apply to your character and/or you don’t know what that use is, then odds are you don’t need it and can sell it or destroy it.

what you mean by all of this? You got multiple Legendaries without a precursor?
Not sure you know how Legendaries work, but they in fact do require a precursor drop and/or getting lucky in the toilet. The only other option is to purchase the precursors and/or Legendaries off of the TP for hundreds if not thousands of gold. But you couldn’t possibly be suggesting everyone should just buy their items off of the TP. That would be a stupid thing to suggest.
Yes, I purchased every precursor as if I was as unlucky in the MF to the degree of some stories suggest, it would likely lead me to quitting, and sitting around waiting for that particular drop will take a ludicrous amount of time, if ever (~2.1k hours of solid PvE).
Sure SOMEONE needs to get that precursor drop/MF luck, but it is possible to get Legendaries without being that person.
What I was getting at is that so many people on these forums complain that they cannot get their Legendary without being that person.
Many people also can’t seem to break 50g, let alone save 500-600g, and thus purchasing from TP is literally not an option for them. You can try to explain how to make money playing the TP, or suggest farming CoF path 1 over and over, but I can assure you that wasn’t what the developers had in mind for getting your legendary precursor.
Personally I’m going to keep randomly throwing swords into the toilet as I get the money for it. I’m hoping that I will get the precursor before I hit the 500g mark in greatsword purchases, because if I hit that point I will be seriously kitten ed at myself for not saving up.
It’s like when you’re waiting in line and the other line looks like it is moving faster so you switch lines and now the line you just left moves super fast. Also applies to sitting in traffic and switching lanes.
I honestly think that giving you the choice of any precursor (soulbound on acquired) at the 10000 AP mark or something would be a decent idea. Getting to 10k is not an easy task and the majority of people aren’t even at 5k after almost a full year of playing. Just an opinion though.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
It really isn’t necessary. Not to brag, but to put it into context I have multiple legendaries without even trying to craft a precursor and this is a list of my best drops:
- Molten Firestorm (~100g at the time, ~60g now). I didn’t sell this and still have it, but I included it for correctness.
- Khilbron’s Boots (~12g at the time).
- Super Sword (8g at the time).
- Deathwish (7g at the time).Everything else has been no more than a few gold, with 90% of my “exotic” drops being “junk” and worth <1g.
Tell me again how Legendaries require you to get a precursor drop or lucky in the MF.
I’m curious what you mean by all of this? You got multiple Legendaries without a precursor?
Not sure you know how Legendaries work, but they in fact do require a precursor drop and/or getting lucky in the toilet. The only other option is to purchase the precursors and/or Legendaries off of the TP for hundreds if not thousands of gold. But you couldn’t possibly be suggesting everyone should just buy their items off of the TP. That would be a stupid thing to suggest.

This free item business has done nothing but increase my trust and loyalty to Anet (or whichever group is responsible for the free items).
I don’t really see how giving gifts to people who spent money within a certain time frame would negatively impact the people who didn’t receive the gifts.
I’ve seen many promotions similar to this: You spend X amount of $ you will get this free gift. In this case Anet didn’t tell you up front but decided to surprise us. Hooray for us that actually support the game! The ones who didn’t get a kite are people who didn’t spend one red cent. You are are no more disadvantaged by us getting free kites than we are advantaged by receiving them.
It’s a bloody kite -or- bloody minis!
I didn’t buy the collector’s edition and didn’t get the special elite skill.
Doing this is a great idea to drive gem store purchases. They’ve established a pattern of giving free items to people who spent money. Those that spent nothing see this, inexplicably get kitten, but then are likely to buy something so they can get in on the next go around. At minimum you have to spend $10.00. If you spend it now just on gems and then receive a free item a month from now worth $10.00, is it really free, or did you just pay for it a month in advance lol.

If you have legitimate OCD you probably should steer clear from any game with an extensive achievement points system. It’s a recipe for disaster.
If you do not have diagnosed OCD, then I highly highly highly suggest taking the plunge of missing one of the Living Story achievements. God it feels so good to be freeeeeee! Each LS I give my best shot to finish them all. But once I get my meta now I’m like, “whatevs” if I don’t finish them all. Sure I want them all, but when the new patch ends and I miss out, I don’t even think about it anymore.
And Genavelle, I’m glad to see others have enjoyed the same freedom. I’m sorry to hear your dye plans were ruined, that must have been tough! Luckily you aren’t prevented from finishing it forever, so you can always technically work towards your goal. Good luck!

As good as 4 Warriors + Mesmer?
You could do any dungeon with a gimmicky team consisting of 5 Perma Stealth Thieves too.
Good players regardless of class can finish any dungeon, any path, any fractal with 0 deaths.
I can only assume your definition of “as good as” = “as fast as”…
To put it into perspective from the other side of players: I’ve literally turned down groups who insisted on speed running things. “OK we gonna skip this and that and stick with me and we are gonna run to here and skip this”. I just say “Oh, it’s one of these types of runs, yea, pass, drop group”
For the record I play as both a shout Guard and zerker Warrior, fully geared on both. I have the choice to play the dungeon as intended. There are a lot of players like me who actually like playing dungeons to complete them, not to exploit and skip content to get done ASAP. There’s a time and place for that, and yes I’ve done it from time to time if I’m farming tokens, but it should never be the standard.
Faster doesn’t always mean better. Completing the dungeon successfully without wiping is doing it better, and class has no bearing on that., player skill does.

I actually like that the zone is active. Whether or not they want to jump from Champion to Champion is their prerogative. As someone leveling up, odds are I’m working on every other event chain outside of those few that are camped. It does not affect me in the slightest.
Would OP prefer the zone be a desolate wasteland like some of the other zones are?
Zones are too empty waaaaa
Zones are too full waaaaa

Meh. its more like this
BRAT: I want! I want! I want one mom!
Mother: No son, you asked too late.
BRAT: Cries.
Fixed this for you to use the actual in-game name of the character (so you can get the full effect of the irony here).
God that was bothering me. FIXED for realz

Considering JP chests give less than useless items, I’m not quite sure why you care so much? I personally did it with the bomb on my first attempt, but a buddy did not. We both got the achievement but he missed out on the 2 Blues and 87c that I got….
A rare dropped off of a griffon for him while we were doing it so he netted a better takeaway in the end anyway.

Someone brought this up before, but the majority of people from the Golden Age of MMOs (2004 with the advent of WoW) are all now in their late-20s, have careers (most of us I assume) and are significantly more casual than they/we used to be. We are the target market for this game, in my opinion. We have the history of being really hard-core when we were able back in the day and we are the ones that now have the disposable income to support a F2P game that caters to the casual.
No offense to hardcore gamers, I was once like you. Ten years from now you will be like me and you will relish in the fact that a game caters to the casual gamer. You will be hardpressed to find a casual gamer that will pay a monthly sub these days simply because we’ve all been let down too many times. I don’t know how many of my friends (myself included) have made the remark “If it was free I’d play it, but I’m not spending $15/mo on a game that I barely log into or get bored of”. Many of us have made this comment.
People talk about MMOs like they’ve been established for centuries and they understand the nuances of growing one. They act as though the customer base for MMOs never changes. The genre itself is a young genre, the player base changes with time as it ages. Incomes change, play-styles change, tastes change, time available changes. Things that were once novel and awesome are boring and repetitive. The ex-hardcore players don’t want the same stuff we’ve been playing for the last decade+. We don’t want all of the new players who haven’t been playing MMOs for a decade+ complain that GW2 isn’t like this game or that game, or they don’t like how it doesn’t cater to their playstyle.
I get it! I really do! Ten years ago GW2 would have bored the crap out of me. In fact, GW1 bored the crap out of me when I first played it. I couldn’t really appreciate it because I was too focused on being hard-core and doing everything hard-mode.
The hard-core gamers are the most vocal and think they are the focus, when in reality the generation ahead of them is larger and more likely to stay for the long-term. Anet isn’t paid per hour you play, they are paid if you spend money on the store and through box sales. Someone who logs on 1hr/day and makes one gem purchase a month is far more valuable than someone who plays 8hrs/day and never purchases anything. Yet the 8hrs/day person complains the most and feels the most entitled.
Hate to say it but GW2 just might not be for you. In the most literal sense possible.

Karma jugs and booster. At this point I’ve got hundreds of these jugs, I assume others do as well. Nothing really to use karma on once you are geared and have all of your shards.

If you have one of those Boxs of Fun from the Achievement point system rewards. Use it just before you start the Belcher Bluff with him. Make sure its set to only Change Appearance, ( doesn’t matter much but easier ). Then when you start the Belcher with him, just click the box to transform and watch your health instantly be refilled each time. Just make sure you re transform. Laugh as he dies slowly.
Win.
If this is true you are a freaking genius. This will be nerfed, I can feel it. Definitely sounds like it was not intended to work like this.

Yea, 15g is not that much money these days lol. Especially if you want something unique. If it was 2g, everyone would have it.

To be clear, you purchased the gems with real money and didn’t trade gold for gems, correct? I have a feeling if you just trade, you don’t get the reward.
Also, seems they are releasing the kites in stages, so I’m sure you will get one.

Why do I have to do stuff I don’t want to do for the personal quartz node? I don’t like the minigames and JPs are just annoying. It’s tedious and boring!
Why should you have to do stuff you don’t want to do at all! Ever! I mean seriously, I’m with you, buddy! I want to be able to get all of the same stuff as everyone else is getting, but be able to do it the way I want to. If I don’t like JPs, I shouldn’t have to do them in order to get a certain reward. If I don’t like minigames or events, I shouldn’t have to do them to get a certain reward. If I don’t like killing monsters or crafting, I shouldn’t have to do them to get a certain reward. I really should be able to do literally anything that I want to do and still get the same things everyone else is getting. I mean, after all, the devs should know the stuff I personally do and don’t want to do and then create content around that, which of course would match up to everyone else’s, because what I want to do is always going to be the same thing that everyone else wants to do.
Also, is there any way I can link my WoW/other MMO account(s) so that when I play WoW/other MMO I can still get Living Story achievements in GW2?
I mean, I want the achievements and all, but I don’t want to have to do the things that the dictator Anet is telling me I have to do. I’m so angry!!!

Adnul, and as far as the conspiracy theory about boosters goes….
Aren’t you able to get regen boosters from the free achievement chests they give out? Pretty sure I’ve gotten a couple from there.

Getting the crystals can be puzzles in which you jump, but not necessarily Guild Wars 2 official Jumping Puzzles.
I think that’s really what we’re arguing about here.
Getting from ground to top is in no way a Jumping Puzzle or a regular puzzle, it’s more of an obstacle course. I see the glowing bits even though I’ve never done the DE, plus it’s obvious to any half-intelligent person where you need to go to get to the upper WP.

Yea, I’ve played him at this point roughly 35 times. I understand Belcher’s Bluff, I understand how his skills work, I know about timings and when his skills are off cooldown. NONE OF THIS MATTERS! You can do everything perfect and still lose because he decides to use his skill back to back -or- which happened to me multiple times last night, you get Punished for Bluffing when he is neither using his skill or belching. There’s some kind of bug that randomly makes you take damage. It’s like if you bluff for your first move, you take damage whether he uses Belch or not.
I’ve gotten him down to 5-10% or so, but the amount of luck involved with beating him is quite frustrating. I consider myself a master at this game by now and it still just comes down to dumb luck.
