I would wait for SAB to come back, that’s when the skins were at their peak and odds are once new skins drop, people who missed SAB the first time around will want a crack at the old skins and may pay a premium for it.
On the other hand, you are probably 1 of 1000+ people waiting to post their SAB weapons at that time so it may very likely get into an undercutting war and thus less value.
It’s very hard to predict the future value if you don’t know what the supply available actually is. I know I personally have a GS, 1h sword, staff, shield, backpack, and scepter waiting to put up and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Take GW1 – there was no auction house, just player to player. So the major towns became FULL of WTB/WTS spam. 24/7. Normal conversation and group finding was impossible, because that’s all there was. Then they put in a group finder, and it became overrun with WTB/WTS spam.
They changed the party find window to have specific wtb/wts sections, and even with that, the towns were full of WTB/WTS spam.
For scamming, it is mostly a matter of paying attention – People would put in wrong amounts of cash (accidentally putting in 1200 instead of 120) or people would put up an item with the same icon as what you were after, but the wrong item. Or, two or more people would work together, chatting, to drive the price of a rare up. (No, i’ll offer X more than him! nah, i’ll offer XX more!)
The TP is the happiest in-between possible. You can still trade through mail, if you want to. Note, Anet doesn’t care if you get scammed on P2P trading now. They’ve given you a flawless system to use, if you don’t want to, that’s on you. (flawless as in, there can be no wrong items/price change/scamming or spamming.)
Oh that kind of spam. Yea OK I could see how that would be annoying.

I know for a fact that many, many people left GW2 because of the RNG issues and the “not enough permanent content” issues. I’m about to play other games because the Mystic Forge is making me angry beyond belief.
Ironically that’s not why people should leave. if anything it should be great ideas and bug/gameplay reports are simply ignored. I got headaches more than once from the blinding vista flashes, reported it multiple times and it’s the same.
So bug reports are ignored? No bugs are fixed at all?
Maybe there are a lot of bugs and some new bugs as well and Anet is fixing bugs according to an order that makes sense to them…for example…bugs that halt progress first (which is why you have an option to check that off when you report a bug).
If that were true, the TP bug would’ve been fixed since launch. But it’s been there. Since launch. I’m pretty sure a bug that makes it so you can’t use the TP halts progress. I mean, you have to exit the game and then log back in to use it. If it works. Lots of bugs are fixed, sure. But Anet apparently needs to prioritize which bugs they should fix first. The TP bug was reported so many times that it should have been fixed instantly. Instead, no answers were given, and no bugs were fixed that dealt with the TP.
Exiting the game and logging back in doesn’t halt progress. Halting progress is like when you are doing a personal story and it won’t finish, so you can’t continue your personal story. That’s halting progress. Relogging to activate the trading post…not halting progress.
That’s not even a good try.
So you disagree that the TP bug should have been fixed at launch then? And it halts my money intake for a few minutes. Most people are lazy and don’t want to take the time to restart their client just so they can get their hard earned gold from the TP. I’d say this is a halt in progress. My point is that this bug should have been fixed ages ago, and allowing it to stay in the game this far into its life should have never happened. No matter what, this should have been fixed 5+ months ago
That’s a stretch and a half to say it impedes money intake for more than even 1min for starters, and halting progress? Really? Halting progress? Halt? Lightly delays maybe, and even that would be a stretch as picking up money from the TP is merely moving something you already own into a new location. It’s like transferring from your PayPal account to a checking/savings account. The money is yours already. It’s just in a different location from the rest of your money…
I do agree it should have been fixed ages ago, I don’t think anyone would argue that a bug shouldn’t have been fixed, but to claim it halts progress is so much of a stretch that it loses all credibility.
But yes, fix this and all other bugs in a timely manner. That should be the standard operation for any MMO team.

The game has made some major improvements and has other major improvements in the works. The ones coming soonest are probably the LFG tool, and culling reduction in PvE, but there are other things coming as well.
There’s still a lot Anet needs to work on, but it’s getting there.
The real question is going to be what they choose to do with ascended weapons and armor, gear grind and that sort of thing.
The problem is we have two completely different groups of people on these forums who want the game to move in diametrically opposed directions. So while the game gets better for one group, it gets worse for the other.
Shockingly, I agree with you. My opinion on it is this, I don’t mind legendaries or skin items. I’ll never chase after them, but its good they are there for the hardcore. Where I draw the line is when there is a stat advantage. This includes resistances to agony, etc.
Agony resist is a useless resistance outside of FoTM. That hopefully doesn’t factor in your “draw the line” decision, if you don’t do FoTM over level 9, you don’t need AR. Heck you really don’t need AR for levels 10-19, but certainly helps. Getting +5 AR will be adequate for those levels, and you can just infuse your laurel ascendeds for that.

P2P (player2player) trading has been in almost every major title I’ve played, and I’ve never, ever, not once in the history of me trading P2P have ever been scammed or spammed. If that’s seriously their concern I feel like they are creating a major inconvenience for something that happens to a very small minority of the population.
I mean, how do you get scammed in P2P trading? You see what items they put in the window, they see your items and/or money, you both have to agree. If you get scammed that’s your fault for not paying attention. For spam you can make P2P trading toggle-able. Set it to “Do not allow private trade” until you need to trade something, then turn it on. Then afterwards turn it off.
Very simple. There’s no real reason not to do it other than wanting to control everything through TP, but honestly why? Like if I get Dawn and I want Dusk, I’d love to be able to trade 1:1 for it with someone without the risk of being ripped off when I send mine and get nothing in return. I also don’t want to have to try to sell Dawn on TP with the % fee you have to put in and then hope I can get Dusk for the same price.
I’d honestly like to hear exactly why they discourage P2P trading, because right now it just seems like an oversight that should be corrected.

Have you ever painstakingly set up your armor dyes only to wonder to yourself “I like this color combo, but I wonder how it would look if the green was is in this box and the black was in this one” or “I wonder how this would look with the colors inverted”
What if each armor piece had a little “rotate symbol” that when pressed would rotate the colors in the boxes clock-wise. If only two colors present it would just swap them.
I’ve spent enough time trying to swap the colors on my armor to know this would be a useful tool, which also wouldn’t be too difficult to implement.

Great point. With dragons and pirates, there just HAS to be a title they can come up with. I mean, “Volunteer” was a title from F&F. I know that one couldn’t have taken more than 10secs of thinking…surely they can come up with something for Dragon Bash/Sky Pirates.

This whole post is a perfect example of why having a good guild is crucial in this game. My guild did a guild run (8 of us) through this JP. Made it easy and grief-free. I will say, however, that we killed every red dot we came across while we made our way to the top. Nothing personal, just kinda the point of WvW. We didn’t camp the top or anything, just killed as we passed. <— that’s the proper way to kill people in the JP.
Camping an area is honestly just lame. It’s frowned upon in FPS games, and its frowned upon here.
Actually camping high ground (or supply rich, choke points etc.) is a valid tactic in most FPS games. You think a valid tactic that competition teams engage in is weak, but you think 8 versus 1 ganking in GW2 is legit. In FPS, teams are equal, there are counter measures for campers. There is no counter measure for 8 vs 1.
FPS is a team A versus team B where there is an actual tactical advantage like you said. You can actually win the match. And camping is frowned upon. Never said it wasn’t a viable strategy in FPS, just…an annoying one. I mean, sit in one spot and click mouse when you see someone walk by = lame (but effective).
The JP isn’t a match, it’s a JP. You don’t win anything from camping the top. You are just a griefer at that point.
Killing people on your way to the top is very different from camping the top and constantly killing anyone who comes by. If you are on the path up the JP and you see 8 red dots coming, get out of the way, hide, I don’t care. We won’t hunt you down, but if you are within attacking distance, you will be attacked. PvP does not need to include griefing.
Heck, if we notice we’ve killed a certain person a couple of times, we will consciously stop attacking them because we don’t want to be jack-kittens. If they have the tenacity to keep attempting that JP then who are we to just keep killing them. We prove nothing other than the fact we are kitten-holes if we do that, and trust me, I’ve definitely been on the end that keeps being killed.
When the same group of 3-4 kill you for the 6th time, you start to think “OK guys, it’s obvious you can kill me, can’t you just let me finish the JP and move on with my life?”
Oh the irony of thinking it’s legit to 8 vs 1 against non-combatants, but not legit to camp in an FPS, when teams are equal and a good team can easily overcome campers.
What do you mean legit to 8v1? We aren’t running around hunting solos lol, we are trying to do a jumping puzzle in a WvWvW setting and kill as we go up. That is the whole point of having it in a WvWvW. It’s like getting kitten that you were rolled by 10 people while roaming open Borderlands or EB. You should kind of expect it. Camping in this particular situation is griefing.
I’m confident that you are playing dumb for the sake of argument if you are saying you don’t understand the difference between griefing and killing someone.
A good team can overcome campers. That’s 100% correct (hence my original post about getting a group together). My guild is the group that clears out the campers. They are almost always terrible players and people thank us when we give the all clear.
To address OP’s concerns, a solo person cannot get up there while a group is camping it. Period.
I know you were trying to make it seem ironic (please learn how to use that word) that I would think 8v1 is legit and not camping, but that’s a simplification of what I said and then taken out of context. With my group people don’t complain since we kill you and are on our way to finish our own business. Griefers/campers are there specifically to kill you and cause frustration over and over and laugh about it.
VERY different and I’m confident that intelligent people will see that. You obviously won’t.
To summarize: We delay completion of the JP (unless you just get out of the way, we don’t want to chase people down, we want to finish the JP like everyone else) griefers prevent completion.
I might also add that on plenty of occasions we don’t attack people at all. Generally if we are starting the JP and see a lot of our server peeps dead we will make the conscious decision to kill all red on the way up. If everyone seems to be peaceful and happy, why rock the boat.
If everyone could be mature and civilized about it, there would be less QQ on forums. But people like you try to justify the camping because, let’s face it, you genuinely enjoy doing it. You can picture them at their monitors swearing and pounding their fists on their keyboard and it gives you joy. You are the problem.

You both seem to think that you cracked the code and know everything. This forum is about describing flaws of the game. Not about saying that it is ok for some people and tap each others back.
Problem that I’m describing is the major issue of the game. It appears that everyone knows about it but some people (like you two) are refusing to acknowledge that by saying that it is actually ok and fixing this will break the game! But what kind of game is one without a goal?
Let me put it this way: You know when depression starts? When you can’t find a purpose in your life. And that’s how the gw2 is: depressing!
PS. Would you be even bothered by the fact that there is a challenging content in the game? More or less like the one I described? I’m asking about your opinion – not a hypothetical gw2 community.
Man, if you find GW2 depressing, then I would 100% say to find a different game. I don’t know who would subject themselves to depression just for the heck of it. I, personally, don’t find GW2 depressing at all. I’ve enjoyed it since the beginning. I accept the game for its flaws, but the “no goal” thing isn’t really obvious to me.
I really don’t see how it is any different from the other MMOs I’ve played: UO, AC, WoW, CoX, AoC, Aion, Lineage2, Rift, etc. I find I am doing the same things in this game that I did in those games (minus the WoW style “?” and “!” questing system). No joke, I really don’t feel like GW2 has less of a goal than any of those other games.
What are the goals in those other games? Beat the dungeon boss? Then what? Wait for patch to kill next dungeon boss? Is that what you consider a goal? Maybe get max stat gear? Then what? Wait until the patch and get the new max stat gear? Are these the goals you are talking about? PvP has no goal if you don’t consider ranking a goal, so that obviously wouldn’t be one of your goals. I’m honestly curious.

Some people are OCD about finishing all achievements. They will complain until the event is gone and then they will realize it wasn’t that big of a deal they didn’t finish it. The time leading up to the end will be excruciating for them, though. They may even vomit a little bit.

Don’t underestimate the power of the PUG. Even fantastic players need to PUG. I’ve had amazing PUG groups. This dungeon is no different. First PUG we got through all up to boss fight before Kiel bugged and we had to call it.
I wouldn’t PUG with anyone under level 80, personally, for this dungeon. Having good gear makes a difference. But I would 100% PUG it again and again. I PUG FoTM as well for levels up to 30 and rarely have an issue.
I can never say that there isn’t a chance that you will get a bad PUG, but don’t discount it based on a few bad experiences.

WTF is wrong with you people! This dungeon is the CORRECT amount of difficulty. If you were expecting to finish it on your first attempt, then you were expecting it to be easy. I like the fact I wiped 10x on an encounter. I like the fact that my group had to learn and try new things to finish the dungeon. I like all of that. If you cannot complete it because you are terribad, then you don’t get the achievement points. Namely because you didn’t achieve anything.

Do you find something annoying in GW2 interface? because I find a lot of things:
- You can’t rejoin to overflow queue. Overflow queue? What is that? You mean if you left overflow, you want to go back to it? If you have a group member in that overflow you can rejoin it, but honestly, why leave it if you didn’t want to? You are given the option to stay.
- Pop-ups are annoying as heeeell (especially tournament pop-ups, even if you click “wait” it will still pop!). I have no experience with this.
- There’s no search option in bought, sold items. Valid I’d say.
- 250 quantity is too low on Trading Post if you want to buy thousands of items. Valid.
- No quantity option at vendors…Valid.
- You can’t grant members with inviting priviliges withought kicking priviliges. Valid.
- You can’t check on what server you are without loging out. Never knew this was a problem for people. How do you not know what server you are on?
- Point of interests icons are too small. Valid.
- Karma vendors scattered through the whole world is a poor idea. Not sure why this is a poor idea? It’s like any vendor, what does it matter that it is a karma vendor?
- Different types of mining pick etc. are meaningless. It’s a money sink, therefore not meaningless. It’s meaningless to you since they are all used the same way (hit F).
- You have to wait in hot join for the next round to play…(c’mon! why!? it’s a hot join!). It hot joins you to an instance and I can only assume waiting is for balance purposes. I could be wrong though.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
This happens with any re-balance patch.
OMG these skills have been changed slightly, my character is literally unplayable. I mean seriously, I log in, use my #1 skill and my game shuts off because of how terrible they made my profession with these BS changes. I want my money back, and the monetary equivalent of every item on my now unplayable character!! I’m quitting because no one can play [insert profession/class here] (I can only assume OP is a thief?) anymore because of this patch!!!
Interestingly enough, had these changes been the standard from the get-go, the profession would be no less playable. People just fear change.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I don’t think people are “quitting”, but rather returning their copy of GW2 to ArenaNet for a full refund of their purchase price. If Anet does figure a way out a content update that would be good, people won’t buy the game again just for 1 update. Can’t bring people back
That’s quite the claim lol. Where would one even go to evidence this? And wouldn’t returning their copy imply they are, in fact, quitting? Not sure what the quotes around quitting was supposed to imply. They are still playing but returning their GW2 copy?
Maybe a server consolidation is in order because when I play on Fort Aspenwood, I never feel like the world is empty. Maybe I just have a higher tolerance for emptiness. If I’m playing in a zone and see 20+ people, I consider it fine. Now if I’m in a zone and see absolutely no one the entire time I’m there, then that of course is a problem.
That has never happened to me, I should add.

Man, I’d hate to run PUGs if everyone who logs in for the first time is insta-80. Just think if you had to run a hard dungeon while people were first learning their class and what their skills do.

Same issue experienced here last night immediately following patch. We all went up jumping puzzle part, killed mobs, Kiel does nothing. She got stuck halfway up the long way around, so we all WP’d, which reset her to us. We ran her up to the door as close as you can get and she does nothing. We all reported in with /bug, but wanted to make sure I said something on the forums as well.
Definitely does not make you guys look so hot when you bring the dungeon down because it was bugged, make a big announcement that dungeon is coming back up, seemingly fixed, and then it is still bugging. It’s bush league is what it is.

Do you want to join a WvW guild, follow orders, learn how to command and make sure that your server will beat the others?
Can I win the battle? Or does my guild does get any recognition or anything by participating?
Do you want to try all of the professions and have one of each?
Grind with 8 characters?! Is this what’s the game about?!
Do you want to level up one of each race?
More grind… So no!
Do you want to get rich and outfit multiple characters with legendaries?
Even more grind… Definitely no!
So this is what’s the game about! Thanks…
You do know there are WvW ranks, passive unlockable abilities, and unique titles to be achieved strictly from playing WvW. Is that also not enough recognition?
Have you ever played an MMO in the past that allowed for 2000+ hrs that wasn’t repetitive in some way and involved some kind of grind? Please enlighten us to what game you’ve poured thousands of hours into that had absolutely no grind and that GW2 should use as an example of how to do it right.
GW2 should be given the credit for doing something different. Many seem to hate it, but I sure as kitten think its a breath of fresh air from the garbage that has been coming out in the MMO genre. Constant re-hashing of the same basic “WoW” format content, but with different lore.
Everyone wants to recapture the nostalgia of past MMOs, but when presented with something similar to what they enjoyed in the past the nostalgia disappears or is never experienced at all because everyone remembers why they quit those games in the first place.
I think that is at the heart of the problem with new MMOs. At this point, most MMO players are likely in the 10-15,000+ mark in terms of hours played across all MMOs in their lifetime. It’s why they get bored easily when a new one comes out that is even remotely similar to what they’ve played.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Seeing as gear has all the stats on it, and stat increases are what makes your character quantifiably better, no. Like you say, it has to be in tandem with new, challenging content, of course.
Since you can get full exotic gear without grinding, at that point wouldn’t your character “getting better” rest solely with you, the player?
You know how you get your character better? Playing your character, learning their intricacies, playing against human players, etc.
You know how many people I’ve seen in full exotic/ascended gear be utterly terrible players? Would you consider that progress? I wouldn’t. When they are dying left and right in dungeon runs because they can’t dodge properly, don’t use boons/conditions/removals properly, treat dungeons like they are running a solo event in like Caledon Forest or some kitten.
To me all the gear grind in the world won’t progress a bad player into a good player.
Now if your definition of progression is eventually getting such great gear that even being terrible makes it almost impossible to die, well then you might just be playing the wrong game.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Fort Aspenwood here: I pretty much play exclusively in the mid-level zones. I enjoy them quite a bit. To give a 100% unbiased opinion on my experiences in FA.
In a typical night of let’s say 2hrs of playing, usually with my GF duo-ing, which boy makes all the difference since we can kite pretty much any Champion, I’d say we come across 10-12 unique people. That would be last night’s example, in Fields of Ruin.
Not sure if you’d consider that empty or not. Odds are there are more than just those in that zone since I can’t be everywhere at the same time, so let’s maybe assume there are 20 people in that zone (8:30-10:30pm EST).
All I can say is that I barely notice if there are people with me or not. If anything, I prefer soloing or duoing events because then it makes me feel like I personally made the difference. Most of the time 1 or 2 others will come out of the woodwork when I’m on an event.
There are definitely more players in lower level zones than in mid-level, so you have to consider that as well. Field of Ruin is also a zone less traveled since it does not border many other zones, so consider that as well.
In Gendarran Fields I’d estimate that I see 25-40 (depending on time) unique people as I wander across that zone doing events.
Empty implies 0 people, so you definitely want to define what empty means to you.

So monocle being a rare item drop from the end of a dungeon differs from any other MMO ever that had random item drops at end of a dungeon hooooooow exactly?
because they will delete the dungeon like a week after it comes out or whatever
I pretty much know that I won’t be able to do the dungeon for sure because I have no lv80 characters yet and don’t think I could make myself grind to get to it that fast.
So…. o well for me. That’s life. You don’t always get everything or even a shot at everything. So what ? Having a limited time dungeon and drop makes it more coveted for those who CAN get it and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
I think it will be less of an issue as the game matures and these kind of things happen all the time so that while a person might have missed out on one particular shiny, there’s a new shiny to be had in the future.
There’s crap in WoW that sells for literally hundreds of dollars on eBay (which is against the TOS, but it happens) because it was a limited-time item or you had to go to an IRL event to get one. I don’t think it’s a problem for an MMO to do something like that. It didn’t make me feel cheated, it just meant I wasn’t around then or capable of getting it when it was around – so what ?
Not everyone can get everything. If someone wants it THAT BAD, they can try the Trading Post or spend IRL money to get enough gold to do so. Some people might be like, “omg greed !” but that kind of transaction would otherwise just happen on eBay or elsewhere. I think letting it happen within the community is a better solution than to ban it and fail – this way people get what they want and do what they’d be doing anyway and ANet benefits too and has it in a controlled environment with records of the transaction. Like, last I heard the random drop holographic wings are going for about $10 real money. That’s really not bad at all compared to the prices of everything else in the gem store – it seems like the economy is in a pretty decent place.
You have a good head on your shoulders.

I’m legitimately curious as my character has well over 1mil karma and nothing to spend it on. EDIT: I’ve never done karma farming. Ever. It’s all from jugs and playing the game normally.

I also worried about that. My purpose of playing GW2 is to complete all the achievements. Unfortunately, I missed the event of Southsun Cove due to some working plan. If I can’t complete the achievements of Southsun Cove, I think I have to give up the game.
Your purpose for playing is completing all of the achievements? Really? How’s that 1000 Giant slayer going for you? I’m at 12 and I want to pull my hair out. I assume you also have all of the GW1 Hall of Monument achievements because otherwise you should have quit from the get-go.

I wasn’t able to complete Southsun, hardly played SAB, ain’t completing Dragon Bash this year and I’m not interested in the temporary dungeon in Sky Pirates (seriously?). I want to do the permanent content, stuff that’ll stay in the game.
I want to play the actual game, which means, for now, I’ll put the living story on hold.
> get my ascended gear on par on my main
> get all jumping puzzles
> get dungeon master
> all professions at 80
> and get that elusive legendaryAs you can see … I’m going to bother with all that permanent content I can’t play if I focus on temporary nonsense. If stuff would just stay so I could play what I want, when I want, I’ll eventually get to it. Right now, it makes no sense for me to bother with the living story.
The living story is fun. I loved the parts I managed to play. However I never dated videogames and I’m not going to start now. Put all that stuff in the game permanently, it’ll be for the better.
Funny I only play 1-2hrs/day and I am still able to get all of this done along with the permanent stuff. Maybe you’re doing it wrong? If you can’t keep up with the Living Story then, like you said, don’t do it. Pretty simple there. I like the way they’ve done it, keeps me coming back to see the next installment.

I like the RNG boxes this time around, and NO I did not get a weapon ticket. I’ve only opened 400ish so far, but the fact that they drop so often is a big plus. (EDIT: the coffers dropping often, not the tickets)
I really like the idea that 1000 coffers gives a guaranteed ticket via an achievement. Only problem is that people will whine thakittens grind and say that Anet is making the game grindy, etc. etc.

I’m actually with OP on this one. The Dragonbash instance was a glorified Dynamic Event. I mean I’ve escorted so many things across Tyria that I’m confident they could have made it scaleable. Just doesn’t really make sense why I couldn’t have done that with a group if I wanted to.
I’m definitely against forced solo stuff. I play a lot with my GF, but since she isn’t quite the gamer we are here, she prefers to play with me so I canhold her hand through content (aka revive her when she’s downed). Whenever one of these solo instances comes up, which has only been twice at this point, she skips it, and I feel bad because now she’s locked out of the rest of the content.
I really really really urge Anet to take a look at this solo instance nonsense and make it scalable like DEs rather than solo or gtfo.

I just replied to a post about this! I like the temporary content. Years from now if I’m whispered “whoa cool backpiece where can I get it!!” I can respond, “Well years ago the Dredge and the Flame Legion banded together to try and take over Shiverpeaks and Ascalon. We had to fight our way into the Molten Facility and kill the two leaders of that group and the boss dropped this jetpack skin.”
“Oh, so can I get that skin?”
“Sorry pal, had to have been there.”
A) That person may end up being sadfaced because of that, but who cares
B) The longer you play GW2, the more unique your character can look (HUGE PLUS to me) with less of a chance someone can copy it.
C) Actually makes the world feel alive when things are legitimately in the past and cannot be done again. Definitely more realistic. They have to have repeating events naturally to sustain leveling up with some kind of novel content zone to zone, but this Living Story project is clearly designed to be ever evolving. If you miss it, it’s gone. Doesn’t bother me at all, I really enjoy it to be honest.I’m shocked so many people complain about temporary content and treat it like it isn’t real content or that Anet is lazy. (which makes absolutely no sense, if anything it is the opposite of lazy to constantly release new temporary content. It would be lazy if they left it permanent. Seriously, think about it? It takes more effort to coordinate the removal than it would be to do absolutely nothing and leave it there forever)
My thoughts are that people wanted a WoW clone, but not too close to WoW, but also not too far from WoW. The hard-core raiders are sadfaced that they can’t continue to play like basement dwelling neckbeards and get the same e-phallus recognition they would get in other games when they would waltz around in the latest tier gear. Therefore they say the game is broken, sucks, etc. and spend their time posting on the forums about a game they dislike.
This post makes me sadfaced.
So who cares about getting new players and getting them to play the game? Anet does I’m pretty sure. I don’t think they want new players to be sadfaced But as long as some players get their e-phallus cosmetics, they can laugh at all the sadfaced new players. I really don’t see a difference in this attitude compared to how some raiders might treat people who don’t raid.
When you have a MMO, it’s smart to add value to the purchase for later adopters so that there is something in it greater than what other MMO’s may offer in the future. Living Story or temporary content doesn’t do this. I’m shocked some people do not realize this. I’m so sadfaced.
I’m liking the abundant use of sadfaced lol.
It is smart to add value for later adopters, and as far as I’m aware new players can access the Living Story content as well, just the new stuff not the old stuff. What difference does it make to new players that they can’t access the old temporary content? They will still get the same value added as we’ve all been getting, they will just be getting in on it later, thus it will be value added less the previous stuff that they simply were not around to experience, but relative to them it is no less value added.
Is your concern that people will see skins on people they can’t have and choose to quit over it? Are players really that sensitive?
I personally would rather have Living Story content (keeping in mind the 300 hologram kills and 250 candy eating aren’t the actual content, that is tangent to the content they are adding and something they put in to keep the OCD achievement hunters busy) to do every month than to run the same stupid raid instance over and over and over and over and over, then when the next one is released, run that instance over and over and over and over. People honestly think that’s the only way end-game is supposed to work. No joke, people really think this. WoW has ruined people.
They added FoTM to appease those people and yet they are still unhappy because all of the BiS doesn’t come from that dungeon so they can’t feel like elitists because they are on FoTM 60+, which absolutely NO ONE cares about lol.
It’s very simple, the people that are used to getting the best of the best from hours upon hours of dungeon running don’t think it’s fair that casual players can get almost the same stuff without having to play like basement-dwelling neckbeards. They want something that will differentiate themselves (the 6-8hrs/day players) from people like me (1-2hrs/day player). They will always be sadfaced because GW2 is trying to make a casual friendly game. You can’t please both groups and the hard-core ex-raiders are the minority and will always get put behind the casual player in this game.

Order of Whispers HQ (instance), which is in Bloodtide Coast.
Even if you have done this POI ^^ do it again.
On my main I was part of the Order of Whispers and had visited there to check out the armor after the personal story was completed. But when I finished world completion I still had one POI missing.
I finally figured out it was this one even though I had received the empty map complete chest from there twice before.
Just backing up what these fellas have said. You have to go to that HQ once more to get the final achievement.

Halloween. - Gone, obviously
Wintersday. – gone
Super Adventure Box. – gone
Dragon Bash. – Soon to be gone
Southsun Cove. – Finished/gone
Fractals of the Mists. – old content, but it at least is still here.
Living Story. – I really wouldn’t go there.
2 PvP maps. – if you mean sPvP, I’m sure the 17 guys still playing it are excited.
New events. – Ok there are some new ones that have been added
New voice acting. – Volume stays muted
New soundtracks. – Volume stays muted
Updating reward systems. – When did this happen? Oh you mean the “sometime this summer” thing?
Guild Missions. – Meh. Very niche content. Not saying they haven’t done anything, I’m saying the quality of the work should improve if they expect player retention beyond 1-2 years.
I don’t think content being temporary means it isn’t content. The F&F instance was awesome, everyone thought so, clearly they did work with it. So what it was temporary, I actually like it like that. Makes for good memories, “hey remember when the dredge and flame legion attacked…”. Clearly that’s the goal. I think what they are doing is different in a good/interesting way. Whether that pays off for them financially will be proven later, but no one else is approaching new content like this. If anything it has kept me logging in because I don’t want to miss the next event that they have!
I mean think about it. If every month there will be temporary content that can yield some kind of unique item(s) only obtainable during that event, years from now there will be a HUGE selection of customization that can make your character relatively unique because those that weren’t playing during that event wouldn’t be able to get that item (hint hint the end-game of GW2 is skin collection everyone knows that, that’s why we need exclusive skins—keeps people from seeing your character and copying your look when its literally impossible to get that skin now).
You guys need to think long term rather than, OMG it’s 10mos into the game and most of the stuff they’ve released has been temporary OMG this game sucks OMG Anet isn’t doing anything OMG OMG they suck OMG RNG OMG.

Hey here’s a mind-blower: you have to run FoTM to get the BiS back item!!?? WHAT THE **** ANET!! WHY ARE YOU FORCING ME TO DO SOMETHING I DON’T WANT TO DO TO GET BIS!!
I should be able to run AC over and over to get BiS back-piece or WvW, I don’t find FoTM fun and I shouldn’t be forced to do it in order to get the Infused Fractal Capacitor! Heck I should be able to buy Fractal weapon skins with Laurels for that matter. I prefer dailies over FoTM so if you jack-kittens want BiS gear without having to do dailies, then I should be able to get the same stuff you can get from FoTM without having to run FoTM. That would be the only way to make it fair.
In all seriousness though, I literally did the daily yesterday in 9min. I mean seriously….you can’t put a little bit of effort into it? You want to get technical on the whole “I was told I could play MY way! Anet you lied!” when we’re talking about sub-40min of effort and in MOST cases it’s sub-20min of effort. Every daily task has a corresponding area you can knock it out super fast. Do the daily and move on!
Most people I know don’t run fractals and dungeons all day. In fact, I can’t stand those people because they are the elitist ex-raiders that think BiS is the be all end all of MMO. The ones where my full exotic, full ascended, except an exotic back-piece meant I was too noob to run FoTM10, which I had run countless times before without fail (no joke, some dude kicked me out of a FOTM10!!! group because I didn’t have an ascended backpiece..).
GW2 has broken that mold and I think that some of the playerbase is going into shock about it. Every inch of GW2’s content can be experienced without BiS. WHO CAAAAAARRRREEESSSS if you can’t get BiS items from playing “your way” (tunnel vision dungeon farmer way). Get over it and get with the kittening program. So tired of the whiners…good lord…

I log in for 5 minutes at least once every two weeks to see if anything has improved. If not, I log out and play WoW.
And you still feel the need to post even though you’re leaving. It’s funny, I stopped logging into WoW years ago for the same reasons. What a crap game.
^^ Same. WoW used to be the kitten, now it is just plain kitten. I’m honestly surprised people still play it regularly. My guess is that people don’t want to leave all of the sweet gear/mounts they’ve accumulated over the last 9 years so they feel forced to stay there and lie to themselves that the game is still good.

Perhaps this is not a bug and maybe I hit some hotkey I’m unaware of, but while playing I will suddenly be unable to select things with left click. My mouse and left click seem to work normally but can’t seem to select NPCs, PCs, or monsters. I can tab select monsters, just no mouse click select.
Anyone else have this random problem? Seems to happen without warning and has happened 3 times now. It’s more of an inconvenience than anything, I’m hoping that maybe I toggled something on or off?

You get achievement points. That’s enough for some people to go AFK for 20 games.

Log in and chop down 5 trees, salvage some junk i had to go get off low level mobs, maybe do a boring easy dungeon, and talk to the laurel vendor. I then receive my anet issued 1 laurel per day. Then Proceed to find a group for fractals a dungeon I have run 9001 times so I can have a shot at a ring and my anet issued 1 pristine relic per day. Look down at my keyboard and think well guess i have no reason to be online anymore till tomorrow, but hey in 2 months ill have a piece of jewelry that is 5% better than the one that took me 5 minutes to get.
This is the endgame in GW2… doing dailies. Who would of thought a company could take one of the worst things introduced in world of warcraft and build a game around it.
Are they ever going to make this game interesting past leveling up and exploring?
This is a part of the endgame. The actual end-game people like the OP refuse to even attempt to do, but instead whine.
The end-game of GW2 IS dynamic events; the Living Story; sPvP; and WvW. In other words. The Dragon Bash event going on right now is the end-game.
If you bothered reading…. anyways dungeon gear is obtained in about 20 or so 10 minute dungeon runs. after that all that is needed is dailies. which take 30 days minimum, but most people dont play every single day so they miss laurels. Then if you have more than 1 character or build its back to doing them…
and then after you BiS every slot there’s 0 to do since…. there is no challenging content which would even require said gear. So the last phase of endgame really is dailies. I guess I’m one of those weirdos who likes to be challenged (like in GW1?).
You are the exact type of person that this game is not meant for. The whole mission to you is BiS and what content you can do with BiS. GW2 has no content that requires BiS. NOT EVEN FRACTALS. You can experience every single fractal dungeon without BiS. There is no reason to get BiS, which also means there is no reason to do the dailies for laurels, which also means they ARE NOT REQUIRED and therefore OPTIONAL!

Working towards my legendary, playing mini-games, leveling alts, and probably the single biggest reason I keep logging in:
Competing against my guildmates for achievement points. For some reason I find this thoroughly entertaining. I log in, someone passed me by like 10 points, omg I better get some achievements! Once you get in the 5k+, it starts to get real competitive since all of the easy stuff is out of the way, you actually have to find things to accomplish!

I think it’s premature to worry about ascended weapons/armor. I predict that’s something they’ll release in another year (if they release it at all. I’m not holding my breath though. I’d rather they release new armor skins).
The devs already said that the full ascended set, including full armor and weapons, will be introduced before the end of this year.
The devs also said there wouldn’t be vertical progression in this game. Why are you believing them now. lol
They said that at launch, but in November they also said that content would be gated only for those with agony resistance. That’s vertical progression if I’ve ever seen it, and I have.
I dunno, I have full ascended accessories and I’ve not done fractals passed level 10 and have no agony resist. What content is gated for me? Unique boss battle? More powerful ascended gear? Nope…
I’m max stat no matter how you look at it and I can access all content without AR. I just can’t do more difficult versions of the exact same content I’ve been doing this whole time. Big freakin whoop.
