Fastest leveling is a combination of personal story quests, events, and dailies. Crafting is such a boring way to get 10 levels, but considering you are new to the game, every one who suggested you level your crafts to 400 is an idiot that assumes you have the access to money to buy materials.
A new player will NOT have the money to buy the materials to level crafting to 400, let alone 2 crafts. So your best bet is what I suggest. The story mode dungeons as well as explorable dailies are GREAT XP, combine that with personal story, events whenever you come across them, hearts, and the regular daily and you will be leveling 2-3 times a day easy.
Also: Guardian with scepter/torch makes a pretty nice solo ranged class. In WvW you are definitely at a disadvantage against actual ranged DPSers, but considering it’s like impossible to die as a Guardian, you should be able to use your scepter to immobilize, then swap to GS and wail on them. Tends to do the trick unless you’re outnumbered.
Also don’t waste your time fighting Thieves as a Guardian, just run away. They will try to burst you down, and when they fail they run and hide. Your time is best served immobilizing them and running away because odds are you won’t win in the long run, and if you come close to winning they just escape.

What I think is pretty cool about this game is that ever since I hit 80, most of my time is spent in non-80 areas. GW2 does a great job at making zones and content seamless regardless of level because of their down-leveling system and their up-leveling system makes new content accessible to everyone.
80 is just a number! It’s great! I leveled up my 3rd character to 80 exclusively in zones under level 50 just because I liked those areas a lot. It’s so refreshing to be able to level up no matter where you are. No more greyed out mobs that give no xp. It’s like I was here 2 weeks ago and you guys were trying to kill me! Now you don’t even look at me! I thought we had something special!!1!!

Though one explorer-based daily achievement I’ve been wondering where it’s been is “Daily Treasure Hunter – Open x Chests”. That seems like a no-brainer to add in.
Good idea. Here are a few other ones that might work:
- Daily Minidungeoneer – Visit 1 Mini-Dungeon
- Daily Tracker – Discover and confront 2 Guild Bounty Targets (e.g. learn where they roam and talk to them; no combat required)
- Daily Diver – Dive from 3 different locations
- Daily Delver – Tap 3 different Rich resource nodes (based on the assumption that Rich nodes are usually hidden in out-of-the-way locations)
- Daily Opportunist – Recover and use 5 different environmental weapons (e.g. Oakheart branch, Elixir of Heroes, Unexploded Mortar Shell, etc – Warrior banners and Engineer bundles wouldn’t count)
Good ones! I would do these!

I’ve duo joined and was paired with complete randoms and beat a pre-made team not once but twice consecutively. That alone disproves your 99 out of 100 a pre-made wins claim.
Secondly, if you are complaining that in the top 1000 you are getting rolled by pre-mades and it isn’t fair, then you, sir, are not cut out for the top 1000. It’s like ANY competitive PvP game. The top teams will be teams that play and practice together constantly. You can’t blame the matching system for common sense.

I was all about the periscopes until I realized I needed 150 of their audio logs for the monthly achievement. I am avoiding them from this point on. Sure they were annoying, but I thought I needed maybe 50 tops for that achievement. 150 is WAY too much periscope aggravation. Thank goodness they made it so you can do other achievements to get your monthly.

You need to think of GW2 as a hub for multiple activities. You can log on, maybe do some SAB platforming, maybe do some sPvP (which seriously if you have not tried sPvP you need to, it’s fun as kitten), maybe do a little WvW, maybe do a dungeon run, maybe some exploration, maybe level an alt, maybe get on to hunt down skins or do crafting, maybe you want to get on just to sit around and chat with guildies or do some costume brawling, maybe some jumping puzzles.
The core of GW2 is all of these things. If you like any of these features, then you like GW2 too.

I wouldn’t object to it becoming account bound as a player, but I very much doubt ANet will do so, not when they can earn so much more profit by keeping it soulbound.
But the question is do they really earn so much more profit by keeping it soulbound, or would they have earned even more profit by having it account bound.
One of the reasons I’m not going to buy even one of these pickaxes is because it is soulbound instead of accountbound. The other reason is that I don’t feel that a single pickaxe is worth $10/20gold. A full set of gathering tools maybe, but not a single pickaxe.
Great question. I doubt we will ever know the answer, however, I can say personally that I am going to buy a couple. I make a decent wage and have the money to blow. I could see how the majority of people wouldn’t want it though, since they would need to buy one per character.

The new unlimited mining pick in the gem store, again makes the rich, richer. How about adding these important things in the game not in the gem-store?
“Pay to win” strait in your face.
The rich can buy it with cash or gold, but who could afford the 800 gems = 17g+ if not only the TP masters? So make their life easier for farming more and earn moreIn a future update we will see an unlimited harvesting tool and an unlimited chopping axe too, right?
800 gems = $10.00. You are in some serious financial trouble if you consider someone rich if they can afford 800 gems lol.
Also…17g can be made twice over with one Super Greatsword Skin from SAB. Farm SAB with every character every day. Those skins are worth serious money. You have no right to complain if you aren’t actually trying to make money like everyone else. Those that have dedication and motivation will prosper, those that are lazy will not.

Each dungeon nets tokens to be used for gear exclusive for that dungeon. That’s the whole point of running explorable dungeons. That said, I wouldn’t hate it if there was also a chance off of each boss for a unique skin. That would motivate me a bit more I’d say.
WvW is subject to the zerg, that’s very true. I would also like to see the guards beef up based on how many people are attacking/defending. I came from Aion before this and the guards that defend the fortresses were beasts. You literally need a zerg just to get through them, and then to burn down the fortress general was a raid fight in itself that sometimes took 10-15min of fighting, all the while your enemy is attacking you as well. Made for epic fights. Unfortunately if you get a zerg big enough you could just walk all over that as well. In the end I think that a giant zerg will always win, but at least making stronger guards would stop the medium sized zergs (30-50 people).
World bosses are kind of a joke right now. They are so farmed it’s not even a challenge. You just show up, mash your skills then move on to the next one.
I think they should be more like that Southsun Karka event. An epic battle, lots of movement— not a monster standing still while getting its face punched in. I want to FEEL the power of these bosses.
It’s so lame when someone in guild links a WP and says “X event just started!” and I’m all like “heck yea!” then I drop the 2.5s to port over and by the time I show up……….it’s dead and everyone is linking their terrible drops. And that one guy is linking his exotic item.

First off lets get a few things straight. There are 33 UNREWARDING dungeon paths. Doing more and more challenging Fractals? UNREWARDING. Going back and doing lower level zones? UNREWARDING. WvW is probably the most unrewarding thing in the game and if you’re having a bad night it’s actually punishing. Are you starting to get the picture? People want content to do that has a decent risk/time vs reward and there are so incredibly few in the game. The recent world boss loot just shows how badly people are starved for a decent reward when they flock for a RARE.
Now as for the grinding, yeah the game is heavily grind orientated and for the exact reason above, poor risk/time vs reward. Everything in this game gives you a small piece of a reward instead of an actual reward. Do a dungeon and get 60 tokens that get you 1/5th a pair of pants, while in other MMO’s the loot might be random but the reward is always there every run. By the way it isn’t a few dungeon runs to get gear, it’s 33+, it is still a grind and if you don’t remember the tokens per run were increased because before it was 90+ runs. I can honestly say that in all the MMO’s I’ve played I’ve never had to run a single dungeon 33+ times to get all the loot I wanted. The reason you don’t see people complain about the grind much anymore is because they no longer play.
If I could get full exotics for 2g, karma set for 2k, etc; I’d actually have multiple sets of gear and I’d have my other 6 alt level 80’s geared as well. I’d actually try some weird specs and so would a lot of people. The game currently so constricting that people don’t want to try weird gear specs because that’s a lot of time to get the gear needed and if it’s bad then they are out a bunch of time/money. That is also a huge balance issue, but that’s another thread. I would also have done all the dungeon paths because currently they are a giant waste of time.
Another major issue this game suffered from is skins. People will go after skins because they look cool, the problem GW2 has is that so few skins look good or different. Why does everyone go after CoF gear besides it being easy? The gear that looks different. All the other gear looks terrible or doesn’t look different enough when compared to something you can buy on the TP for 1-2g. ArenaNet desperately needs to hire more armor designers and increase the armor/weapon skins in the game. Legendaries are proof that people will go after skins, but instead they abandon skin progression and go for ascended stat progression.
I think you need to ask yourself whether you want a game that is unrewarding but lasts long time if you’re willing to grind for those rewards or play a game that is decently rewarding but only lasts a few months. I’d rather play a game that rewards my playtime than one where I’m trying to piece together a reward. At least if things are rewarding I can come back anytime and have fun, if you quit GW2 now you’re stuck behind time gates if you want ascended.
You’re looking at this from the perspective of a hardcore(or near) gamer. Try looking at it from a casual perspective because that’s who this game was marketed to before launch, where it takes easily a month just to get exotic gear, you don’t always log in everyday, and reward is weeks/months away.
I find GW2 to be infinitely more rewarding than games like WoW. I mean seriously, get a reward, now its obsolete, get a reward, now its obsolete. Talk about unrewarding…there’s a reason games like that are dying.
I think MMOs in general are falling behind in popularity. The instant gratification crowd (people born after 1992 typically) wants to start a game and have top level gear ASAP and when they get it they move on to another game. If the game takes too long to get that top level gear they say the game is too grindy and quit. There’s no satisfying people like this. At least not in an MMO.

Someone clearly listed the sell price high, another person who likes to play the TP saw the high sell price and the lower buy price, figured omg look what I’ve found 3x profit! Then put in a higher bid price, but still well below the sell price.
Whether or not these items are legitimately selling for this amount is a different story. I doubt anyone is buying this stuff for anything other than flipping.
For all we know people are just constantly flipping this worthless item and no one really knows why.

Waaaaa I’m being punished for not working 40hrs/week! I should be able to live my life the way I want to and it isn’t fair that I don’t get the same perks as the people who are gainfully employed! The people who are making all the money should have to give it to those who don’t make as much so that everyone gets the same benefit regardless of amount of work done!
I’m pretty sure my tax dollars are paying for OPs lifestyle right now.
You want the SLIGHT benefits of doing dailies, do the dailies. If you want to delude yourself into thinking the dailies have any significant impact on the in-game economy, you can do that too. (with no data to prove it— in fact prices for almost everything have gone down)

The money you get from dailies is negligible. Playing your own way will yield the same amount of money. How much money do you think you get from dailies? it’s like 5s…
Karma can’t be used to inflate the market, nor can mystic coins. Laurels will only make prices for t6 mats and exotics go down since there will be a nice injection of supply (if people are using laurels on those; most people save up for ascended gear, which is BoA and does not affect the market.
All of this translates to lower item prices, not higher… So what’s your problem? You’re actually rewarded for everyone else’s hard-work (like unemployment) with lower item prices for hard to get stuff, all the while you can wander aimlessly gathering herbs or hunting ambients.

Remember there are no melee and no ranged professions. Every class is fully capable of being fully melee, fully ranged or both.
- Except the Engineer…
And Guardian.
Try sticking to a Scepter. I dare you.
I play guardian and use staff for main and scepter/torch for OH. Specced for shouts/boons, healing, and crit.
I kill almost everything with my scepter before it can come close to me. So….
Scepter ftw

I just wish. The only way for an elementalist player to keep up with the DPS rat race is to constantly swap atunements.
And that’s a problem because….you have to try a bit harder? I think most can agree elementalist is a harder class to play than others (such as warrior and guardian)
So what you have to switch attunements on the fly to have decent DPS, I honestly feel that was the whole idea behind elementalists and being unable to switch weapons in combat but rather 4 elemental attunements.

Favorite:
1) Mount Maelstrom: Overall I just enjoy playing here. Great visuals, great events and hearts.
2) Frostgorge Sound: Favorite of all the icy zones. Being from Florida I’m definitely not burnt out on snowy levels. Only 80 zone I really enjoy to be honest. So hate the Risen
3) Caledon Forest/SF: Was first zone a played, so I have some nostalgia here, plus I thoroghly enjoy the plant-like look. Sparkfly Fen would be a close choice too. In fact, let’s just say both are equal.
Least:
1) Brisban Wildlands: I did it on my main to get 100% completion, and swore I’d never set foot there again. Winding paths that lead to nowhere, terrible mobs, terrible events. No thanks
2) Metrica Province: Couldn’t stand it. Hate the hearts, hate the look of everything, overall thumbs down.
3) Kessex Hills: Other than a couple novelty areas, I was underwhelmed. The loading image made it seem like it would be so awesome.

Southsun Island. Karka. The normal ones. They do a ranged multi attack as their opener that is cake to dodge. You will get 33% minimum if you time it right. Do a dodge forward and a dodge backward through the whole thing. 3 mobs and you’re done with the daily. Thank me later.

Opinion from the perspective of an active guild guildmember:
Honestly to me population is completely moot. I belong to a guild that has constant activity. There is always someone on, everyone is friendly – they run story mode dungeons for people who need it, even if they have it done, they help with storyline quests, if someone needs help with an achievement or any kind of event, they group with you and help you finish it.
For those off-hours (for the nightowls/earlybirds), using gw2lfg.com has made it pretty much impossible NOT to be able to find a group for anything. Plus I’ve had good luck in /map when I ask if anyone is willing to help me with something. I always get at least one person that is like “yea sure why not”.
I’ve honestly not noticed a thing population-wise and I think it’s 100% because I found a good guild to join. It’s a wonderful thing when you don’t need to worry about being able to find a group to do something.
I do feel sorry for those that honestly are unable to get groups to get things done. I could see the frustration there. Maybe this should prompt people to seek out strong guilds more.

I’ve heard mixed things as well. I did a small test when I ran all 3 AC paths. First one without MF gear/buffs, second with full MF gear/buffs, third without again.
I had more drops on my first run than any other. In fact I had two exotics drop (one rune and a dagger) on the first run and nothing on the second or third.
At this point my test was inconclusive as I would really need to run more dungeons to get legitimate info, but this is what I have so there you go.

100% agree with OP on this one. I went back to Aion which I played for 2 years. I just can’t get back into it after playing GW2. Definitely has ruined my standards.
Heck I even tried WoW Pandaland and didn’t make it 2 days before remembering why I stopped playing it.
Someone made a suggestion in another thread that I felt was a genius idea: zone/faction reputation. It was grindy in WoW, but you got unique rewards/skins/mounts for your reputation with each faction. I feel GW2 could benefit from this kind of system. It would drive 80s to the lower level areas specifically to gain rep by doing events, helping nubs, etc. Rewards would have to be worth it. Karma seems to be the GW2 equivalent but I’m underwhelmed with the amount of things you can do/get with karma in GW2’s current format. It could almost be like a “karma earned in zone X” type system to unlock different rep tiers.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I agree that the guild aspect is puzzling to me. The game is called Guild Wars, yet guilds don’t do anything. I’m still expecting an explanation on what the long term plans for guilds is/was and why guilds just seem to be an empty shell, a glorified chatroom as it were.
Where I do not agree is on point 3. I played WoW for 4.5 years. I’m very well versed in raiding, progression, carrot on sticks, etc. Let me tell you something: it gets old. It gets SO old. I mean honestly, those who played WoW hardcore, tell me straight up, when you finally got your whole set of Tier X gear and were so proud of it, showed it off, people were inspecting you, you high fived your friends because you were so awesome. Tell me how you honestly felt when patch day came and your set you spent months to acquire is now less powerful than greens.
At first I can tell you I was understanding. “This is how the game works, no big deal”, so I continued. Farmed the next raid dungeon for months. Blocking out entire weeks for raid schedules, sacrificed real life enjoyment for virtual enjoyment. You finally get that last piece you want, patch day hits, now its laughable gear. It is almost like fashion, people snicker behind your back that you are still sporting LAST Tier’s gear. See what I did there.
Ok, this time it was a bit frustrating. I spent easily 100+ hours working on a set of gear that you can’t even use anymore. So what was the point of it all? So I can do the next dungeon and get another set of gear to soon need replacing? You betcha! So I hit the farming again!
Raid schedules, time sacrificed, this time for both a dungeon set and an arena set.
Get both, feeling good, omg expansion comes again, haha you’re still wearing THAT gear? What a loser! (Pretty sure those were the mumblings as I walked by in my Season 4 arena set)
Finally it hit me. What the heck are you doing! You’ve wasted literally weeks of your life (Yes literally weeks, in hours accumulated) to get gear that I’ve either DE’d, or is in a bank collecting virtual dust. No more. I just couldn’t do it anymore.
I used to love that carrot on a stick, but there’re only so many times I can get that carrot, taste it is rotten and then have my master (Blizzard) plop a fresh carrot in front of me and tell me, THIS is the real carrot, that other one was just a warm-up carrot. Once you get this carrot you will be satisfied. Nope, that carrot was plastic and now there’s a NEW carrot, one supposedly chocolate filled.
So no. I do not want gear progression like that. All of those hard-core raiders from WoW will burn out like they all do, and THEN they will realize how great GW2 is.
To OP, your guild is obviously still in the vertical progression focused stage. Your members will tire of that too. This is why so many ex-WoW players are wandering aimlessly looking for another game to give them what they want, but also to not be the same as what they used to want, but not too different either because that would be scary and not what they want.
My solution: Make it take FOREVER to get a full ascended set. Or if they release Legendary armor, make it take FOREVER. Not RNG type of forever where things can be purchased for gold if you have enough of it. But something that would require an actual time investment in the game.
When you see someone wearing it and you know they a) have been playing a long time and put a serious amount of effort in and b) are a bad-kitten.
Right now unfortunately Legendary weapons are for sale on the TP. That was a poor choice. I mean, there’s no REAL reason not to make it sellable on TP, but it loses pretty much all of it’s prestige value.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Dodge and Block are just informing you what just happened. They are not cues to use any kind of ability.
Hitting a direction twice (W, A, S, D) will make you dodge in that direction, allowing you to evade all damage. This is useful pretty much all of the time. You can only dodge twice before it needs to recharge. There’s a bar above your health globe.
You should not be dying in this game nearly as much as you are. Something is terribly wrong.
Pick a weapon, master the skills for that weapon set, and then attack one thing at a time. You heal once you leave combat so if things get hairy, just run until your regen starts.
I suggest a Warrior or Guardian for a new character. Survivable survivable.
Don’t even waste your time on shield. In this game shields are mostly useless. You would be much better off with a better offhand or just a greatsword.
You can buy good gear from the trade broker for cheap. Make sure you’ve got decent gear to start if you are having trouble surviving.
You should really only have to upgrade your gear every 10 levels or so. Once you hit 80 you can focus on Exotics.
All classes have a ranged weapon choice. If you die in melee range, pick a ranged weapon and keep things at a distance.
Monsters called Veteran so and so are stronger than regular monsters. Monsters called Champion so and so are extremely difficult and require a group, STAY AWAY, they will kill you fast.
Each monster’s portrait also will tell you what level monster they are. The more elaborate the portrait, the more powerful the monster.

A free for all PvP server, before I start let me say that I came from a MMO timeline when MMO’s where a nerds best keept secret, 13 years ago I started playing a MMO called Asheron’s Call and played on a server called Darktide, this server was a Free for all server where one could kill anyone at will and loot there bodies, the server over time developed a player driven social structure due to the nature of the server, Players Killers (PK) vs Anti-Players killers (Anti) needless to say this was the most fun I have ever had in a MMO and I have been chasing that feeling now for 13 years and nothing comes close.
In a game like GW2 the World map would make the perfect play ground for a FFA server with all the nooks and crannies, I would love for GW2 to add just one server with this rule set, as to avoid Aoe damage you can make it that players in your party or rep’n a guild can not be hurt by friendly fire, this would help create a tight community and very strong guild orders.
EDIT:
Added a video: History of Asheron’s Call Darktide by Ripperx from MMORPG.COM

Nice, I played Morningthaw mostly, but had hella chars on DT just cause of the crazy PvP hijinks. Like seriously, in Darktide it was survival until you could level high enough to do any damage. I remember huddling with other lowbies grinding mobs to level, always looking over our shoulders, or finding that good samaritan high level char who protected you and power leveled you with dillos and tuskers.
AC was a grindfest of the best kind. Spend hours running back and forth between spawns and loved every second of it. (people who complain about current games being grindy I just lol now).
EDIT: I still have nightmares about those tuskers. Hear that thunderous pounding coming towards you. Gives me chills.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Clearly there are fundamental differences in the way people are thinking here. I guess it’s all opinion at this point.
MY opinion:
GW2 does not fit P2W criteria. Having more gold does NOT accomplish anything. Stats are capped on exotics/ascended gear. Both of which are relatively easy to obtain. Having tons of gold COULD get you exotics faster, and honestly you don’t need to buy gold to obtain them, you can buy a full set of exotics with ~15g. Certainly not a large amount.
Boosters do not make you win either. They last 1hr, can’t be used in PvP (even in WvW, like I said, it doesn’t really help if you’re outnumbered. You might be able to pick off random stragglers I suppose, but even then a bad player with boosters would get facerolled by a good player without boosters).
Legendaries do not make you win. Whatever moron said legendaries are the end game clearly does not understand how GW2 works. PvP is the end game, not obtaining Legendaries which are exotics with fancy sparkles.
When they boost legendary stats to the max like they intend to, that will help whom exactly? That one guy that can buy a legendary? How has he won now? In WvW the difference will be negligible. In sPvP the difference will be negligible unless your entire team has Legendaries. One man does not make a difference.
You can’t purchase all of the mats to make a legendary either. At minimum you need 100% map exploration to even craft it.
If you people honestly think having the rarest skins in the game constitutes winning in this game, then you are too far gone to even help or try to speak logic to.
And finally, and this is the most important point: Why does it matter? Seriously, why do you care that someone was able to purchase, for real money, the gold needed to get one item that is marginally better than what you have? Seriously, if you have full exotic/ascended everything, and you compare YOUR stats to someone with full exotic/ascended PLUS a legendary weapon instead of your exotic, what kind of % increase over your stats do you think they will actually have?
Let’s say legendaries give I dunno 50 extra power and 50 extra precision than an exotic. (which I feel is more than it will even be), and let’s say damage is 1250 instead of 1100 like exotics are.
Using my 80 full exotics guardian as a base:
1738 Power
1456 Precision
2838 attack (1100 weapon damage + 1738 Power)
Let’s add in that epic win legendary weapon with my hypothetical stats which I still feel is more than what it will be:
My new stats:
1788 Power (2.8% increase)
1506 Precision (3.4% increase)
3038 Attack (1250 weapon damage +1788 Power) (7% increase)
In conclusion, if you honestly feel that someone paying real life money to be 7% “stronger” than you (skill will always trump 7% by the way…)constitutes “winning”, then your points are technically valid and this is a P2W game hands down.
If you are like me and the rest of the level-headed, rational, population that thinks this is a ridiculous claim, then I welcome you to the club.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Whole-heartedly agree with this one. Town clothes whatever I don’t care, but glasses and some of the other headgear should be skinnable. It really makes no sense why they wouldn’t be.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So…your level 80 that you guys are actually skilled at playing is less valuable now that he hit level 80 crafting? What difference does that even make?
I don’t see why that bothers you. He would be a terrible player if all he’s done is craft to 80. Being level 80 doesn’t mean anything!
It really gets tiresome reading these posts from people who complain about how other players are playing and accomplishing things that has no effect on them personally. I mean, think about it. HOW DOES IT EVEN AFFECT YOU! There’s only one answer…it doesn’t. If it makes you bitter, then that’s a personal issue I guess.
Also, a big LOL to the guy that says the hour long booster buffs are huge advantages. You can’t even run them in sPvP so who cares. WvW is a numbers game so who cares if one person has a speed buff on them. They run into a zerg, they are dead. It’s not like those boosters will magically allow them to kill a whole group of people.
People just want to complain for the sake of complaining.
I leveled two characters to 80 the old fashioned way in 3 months and I could not care less that someone paid real money to buy mats to craft to 80. That means absolutely nothing. I don’t even care if they want to buy gold to buy the legendaries on the TP. Why don’t I care? Because it doesn’t affect my playstyle in any way shape or form. OMG their weapon sparkles and mine doesn’t!!!?? NOOOOOOOO

Hmm, what do you make of this? This is on the same page at Massively. Do you have any idea how bad that makes them look? Discuss.
This question is answered in the article that was linked to in the OP.
May I recommend that in the future you actually read the article before you make a comment that makes it so clearly obvious that you didn’t? Discuss.

Aion added housing eventually which was kind of cool. You could port to the houses of those on your friends list too from your house, which was a cool feature. You could get furniture and all sorts of other stuff to decorate.
Unfortunately I don’t know how you would get people to actually use their houses for any length of time. Even in Aion the novelty wore off quick.
If you could upgrade your house to have a bank vendor or trade broker. It wouldn’t really affect LA since FoTM is there and it is a good place to try and get a group, and it wouldn’t really affect the other home towns as they are ghost towns already anyway.
To branch off topic (I know I know, mods hate this): I really think it would be great if you could port to your cultural home town for free. That would drive people to visit their home cities as a homebase instead of everyone in LA. If I need to hit the bank, I always hit LA just because it is centrally located and I dunno, it’s the place to be I guess. If I could port to The Grove for free you bet your kitten I’d be there to use the bank and TP instead.

Yep. Happened to me once too in Tixx. Well, the booting part. Luckily I beat the leader to the chest by a millisecond. I didn’t even have a chance to see what I picked up before I got booted and I KNOW no one else in our group made it to the chest before the two of us.

Just think it is low chances in general. I still get those items every now and then.

The Sylvari cultural armor has a similar problem. There’s actually a whole section of the armor that is a tan type color you can’t even change. You’re pretty much stuck with that color, and it takes up a good chunk of the legs and gloves.
Luckily it just happened to go with the color scheme I was going for, so I’m not terribly too upset.

Thief in WvW for sure. Man I hate them so much lol

There is no " Legendary " Armor , just saying
Pretty sure they said there would be in the future? Maybe I’m wrong.

I’ve only ever been asked once to get on a voice program with a PuG. It was to run fractals and it actually ended up being a recruiting attempt. Made it kind okittenward.
I’m usually on vent with my guild while I play anyway, but since no one in my guild seems to enjoy dungeons, I pretty much PuG exclusively and I’ve NEVER needed voice chat to get it done.

Yep. Get exotic gear. Then run the same dungeon over and over for ascended gear. Then hope they don’t add another tier after that… Though if they did they would claim it to be “wildly successful”.
I miss pre-Nov 15th GW2
Sounds like my WoW days…run same dungeon over and over for Tier X gear. Next patch, I’m geared like a noob, time to run another dungeon over and over.
I don’t know why I thought that was fun…

How about a new group:
The “ex-hardcore”:
People who were hardcore, but who are now older and have become more casual, but still think of games with a hardcore mindset and years of previous experience.
This sums me up perfectly come to think of it! College years = hardcore because, well, its college so I had plenty of time to play. Post college = work for a living, gf, dog, house to upkeep, so not enough time. But when I do play, I play as hardcore as I can. Unfortunately there’s a limit to how hardcore I can get based on time available.

I also identify as a mid-range player. Well beyond casual, but nowhere near hardcore.
I’m on FoTM 9, and have run enough AC exp to get the 500 tokens required for Twilight.
The minute I hit 80 I outfitted myself in full exotics via the TB. It really didn’t cost more than 15g. Don’t have 15g? Save up for it. I wanted the T3 cultural helm which is 20g, but I was broke. Took me 2 weeks of saving while playing regularly to get the money together. Now I want the T3 gloves for 12g, and the TA shoulders/shoes to finish my look.
Dungeon exotics are really the fastest way to get exotics IMO. You get 60 tokens per run, and with a good group you can do a run under an hour.

You missed out on a couple of level 76 greens. No worries, mate.

I liked the JP, but like others have said, it is way too easy.
I know, I know, there’s a lot of people who think the difficulty is just right. But what do they consider too easy or too hard? In my opinion it should be hard enough to take you a majority of the event time period to finally learn it and finish it. Not spend 20min trying it and then you beat it.
It took me days of attempts to finish the clock tower and I loved it. It made it actually feel like part of the holiday event. This, while Xmas themed and beautiful, took 5 tries to beat and now it’s an afterthought. 5 tries on day 1 of the event and I’m done with it, maybe some alts will run it, but for what? Reward was pretty underwhelming too.
No doubt the ones that love how much easier it is than clocktower have also beaten by now, but isn’t that TOO easy??? If you can beat it the first day you try it, isn’t that TOO easy? I guess maybe it’s just me.
I think if there was less wait time in between attempts(even though snowball duels are pretty awesome if you find the right people) then you could up the difficulty a bit.
Even I, who loves difficult things, would get tired of trying to learn something if I have to wait 1-2min in between each attempt. Clock tower seemed to have less of a wait, but that’s probably because it was a wicked hard JP. Hands down my favorite still.

You don’t need swiftness, blink, teleport, or leaps to finish this JP. I really don’t know what the point of this complaint is. Just jump on the snowflakes!

Yea, 20min is the long end of the range of time it takes to run that instance. I did it back to back with 2 different characters in 30min…both with PUGs that formed as soon as I said “LFM Tixx” in Grove standing next to entrance…
