Purposely Failing Events

Sorry but need to say that now.
The year the game came out, that november / december there was a huge number of obvious!!!!! bots, which I and several others reported every single day and still they remained there farming for at least 2 weeks.
Cant tell me that several naked rangers all with names aaaaabbbbbccc or something chinese or whatever walking the EXACT same circle 24/7, with a movement lag on exact the same spot everytime are no bots.
In Forstgorge Sound near the TP there, was the same, even did a bug report for this spot there, only recognized it there cause my performance suddenly dropped to zero, then suddenly one by one about 50 bots popped up farming the same mob everytime.
Took an eternity for anet to ban them.

As for linen farm:
afaik they were all unbanned, I dont know the exact reason, but lets be honest in this game there is still so much bugged, that you often cant tell if something is bugged or working as intended.

So now for failing events:
Aetherblades:
At first ppl made their story, after that on EVERY single event map I joined, ppl started Aetherblade farming and I cant blame ppl for that cause Aetherblade farming was maybe 20 times as rewarding as finishing the event. And if you tried to make events the commanders were not at, you did those events solo.
Okay that got changed so, that the metaevent couldnt be done with any random group anymore, solved the Aetherfarm, cause noone bothered with Scarlets Invasions anymore, to the extent of …. ohhhh no scarlet, lets go to another map.

As for Jorfast:
here again, I suppose over 50% that are on any instance of cursed shore are participating in the champ train, and if its possible those champ trains do the event to fail jorfast.
I cant blame them there as well, karma and skillpoints are not needed in that masses you get in the game and the event rewards for completing them in gold status is ridicolous.
But even then if it was counted as an exploit, what should anet do?
Ban all of them? Then those zones gonna be as empty WITH megaservers as they were without, cause if they do I suppose they would have to ban all of them and I doubt Anet could afford banning a huge of the lvl 80 PVE playerbase.

So what can be done?
It needs to be more rewarding to actual complete the Event than failing, and not by nerfing loot again, that has been done often enough.
I mean the “biggest reward” so far is to see a gold medal on the right pop up if you did good in the event.
If this game didnt already have too much currencies, a solution might have been adding medals as currency, so you could exchange gold silver and bronze medals for something.

Hrm i play FULL zerker DD (lightning flash, arcane wave, arcane projectile, arcane brilliance) and thiefs are my smallest problem (really rarely meet one i cant beat).

Problem are rather Terrormancers, Warriors (due to their insane invul-uptime + revenge if you down em) and to some extent power guardians. (in that order)
First is rarely played on good maps(i.e. not Skyhammer) , second is a problem hence its a very common encounter, third not that common as an encounter can be extremely annoying though.

Nah, condi Necromancers who can’t adapt have been moaning about this trait since it was first announced.

I know.
And I have been defending it ever since.

Though I personally dont like this trait, cause I ever said balancing that trait is really hard.
While I think with a 90% life threshold it is in fact very weak (considerung what you have to sacrifice and the very limited application), a threshold of 80% would be very OP.

As one already mentioned, the only real solution might be, not letting ppl chose the side they play on at all (on public servers)
And if they go spectate they can only return to their original team.

Therefore fearmancer / full condi is a hard counter to a lot of Ele Builds.

Well I wouldnt mind this trait being deactivated, cause I am not running it and I know why.
And afaik the number of elementalists running it is very low.

And then this trait only helps in a one on one against a condition necro only, a very situational trait.

What annoys me, elementalist is finally a class you dont get laughed at or even flamed for playing it in PvP(since feature patch), before Elementalist was totally underpowered for about 8 months.
I still played it (in hot joins though) and stood my ground against most players.

And now that Elementalist is finally in a good position again, for good ppl even in a very good position (celestial DD can be quite strong in the right hands)
PPL start to cry again: nerf nerf nerf

The Problem oft the PvP was that it was bad balanced to begin with, as well as having only one gamemode.
For ppl who came from GW1 this was incredibly shallow.
The next thing ist that in GW2 everything is sparkling flashing etc so that in team fights you have sometimes problems seeing what is going on, especially as spectator, which makes it not nice for an “esport” to watch.

This all resulted in an massive player loss, and now that PvP makes up a very small part of the game less ressources get into PvP. Vicious circle.

Thats at least what I think happened.

At least some ppl that usually use that techniques can admit themselves its a bad design,
high regards for this Locuz.

Cause its always easy to say its a L2P issue if you are the one knocking ppl down pulling them down etc. Some of those ppl totally lose on any other map regardless the build they play.

I mean in a lot of other games using the environment to cause almost uncounterable instakills (and even to this extent) would be considered exploits, here they are even backed by the developers it seems.

almost never do it just deal ae-dmg like no tomorrow much more effective in most cases. Okay Im zerker ele, so thats what i do anyway^^.
On some rare occasions I still stomp but thats very situative.

my stomping rule of thumb:

-never stomp eles
-only stomp thieves if you have a blink
-stomping mesmers is bad practice, but doable if you have a blink or if he already teleported
-don’t DPS rangers or warriors unless you can kill them faster than they can use their #3
-stomp everyone else

I can dps rangers faster (usually), but yes once they get their healing up you pretty much have no chance dpsing them
and I dont wanna waste my lightning flash for just stomping.
I usually DPS warriors as well cause I know they interrupt my first stomp, so if they have revenge rdy he uses it at second stomp try or when he gets too low makes no difference for me, if I expect the Warrior to use revenge Ill leave him up to my Elemental and get to a distance where he cant kill me in revenge in order to ralley xD.
Usually I get Guardians down faster with dpsing them than with stomping as well

=> almost never stomp

As for Map Awareness:
A look on the minimap would be very good for some ppl….
Im fed up seeing ppl fight 5 meters (whatever the ingame equivalent ist) next to a point while that point is getting captured.
Or the moment they captured a point and go away someone of enemy team captures that point, but they dont even see that the very moment they left an enemy player captures that point.

Sometimes I just think a lot of players are bots.
Cause I cant imagine so much ppl being blind.

Lack of map awareness annoys me most if I see it from “allies”.
Probably because it’s the most obvious thing if you yourself have map awareness^^
And because Í think thats much easier to get map awareness than mastering your class,
if one is bad at 1v1 or in team fights it is one thing, but in a game mode were map control is basically everything it should be common sense to take a look at the minimap and looking around.

As for Power Necro Lich Form , 1-2 auto hits and im done for.
(though I rarely meet one) and okay im zerker ele the squishiest thing out there.

Death shroud:
Death Shroud is a hard counter for every burst build out there and it seems to have almost no cooldown (okay necros need life force)
Just wanted to mention it, cause ppl mentioned diamond skin would be such a hard counter to condition necros. Now nobody talks about it Diamond Skin anymore, why?
Cause ppl very rarely use it (thats what I said half a year ago to those condition necros that cried).

So good you are in the correct spot Romek.

And yeah playing solo queue rate is equally defined by luck as by individual skill, unless you are that good, that you can carry the entire team almost alone.

As for Tiers:
Theoretically a good Idea.
Unfortunately I dont know the numbers but I think the PvP Community of GW2 is pretty small. Queue Times are already extremely long.
Now imagine there are 5 tiers, and ppl in the top tier can only be matched up with ppl there.
I think it would end up with top tier players, once they reached it, only playing one ranked game a month to keep their tier status, leading to outrageous queue times.

I think for a tier system to properly work, you’d need at least 100k active ppl participating. (And with active i mean not ppl that join pvp once a month)

One indicator how alive a competive game mode is can be the spectators of tournaments.
And that indicator is not good, if you take a look at the higly announced ToL.
Afaik Spectators ranged between 1500-4000.

Though it is useless to post here anymore, hence that thread is a trash bin for anet.

Srsly I think about quitting the game again (did so once for 6 months already).

The PvE is pretty casual. WvW not interesting for me.

What would keep me playing? An Interesting PvP, all my friends quit playing GW2 1 month after release(I held out much longer cause i loved GW1), and my current guild is not that into PvP (sometimes we get 5 man to a team, most of the times NOT!)
So what would be left for me? Solo queue, okay I play DD Elementalist (non-meta build but successful against most teams).
On Skyhammer I see just no daylight against those troll-builds, so in 20% of the games I can do what I want I am pretty much useless, even got flamed for the very act of playing elementalist on that map by one of the team"mates" before the match even began.
That’s why dont really play SoloQ atm as well cause I have to make up for skyhammer on all other maps just to get the winrate I think I deserve.

So that leaves me to Hot Join, yay bound to hot join for all eternity and at that point I only see stagnation, destroying my last reason playing GW2 at all, SPvP

p.s. someone who really loved GW1 and really tried to love GW2

You can turn the voice of in the sound options, basically all in game speech.

As for that unfortunatly you have all or nothing.
I’d like the really important voice messages still intact like : “your lord is under attack”
Points i see on minimap myself, but somehow often enough players attacking your lord are not shown, or enemy players having the orb etc etc.

It is just a lie, that Ele doesnt need to watch his cooldowns or anything, cause as Ele you have the lowest base def (light armor) and the lowest health pool.
In other words once your defensive skills run out, you misjudge the situation and blow out a CD the wrong time you are pretty much f******

I personally use autoselect everytime i join a match, but some days ago I came to a map where i really just waited till the current match was over, cause it was 450:50 and i had no intention joining such a match 15 sec before the end

@OP – You create a new thread on a weekly basis about what you think deserves more attention and what is overpowered, solely based upon what angers you in solo queue or hotjoin (whichever type of player you are).

None of your arguments are backed up with actual facts and good suggestions, it’s just a rant and some QQ here and there.

Now that i have seen the last 3 posts of lordsricky I can only say

Looking at the last 3 posts ALL startet by lordsricky, they all have pretty much the same keynote:

-Nerf this class cuz my necro is weak against it

You make 3 posts out of the same topic just viewing from a different position.

And maybe its even true that necro atm is a bit weak in pvp.
Cause from what i can see most necro builds are plain stupid and maybe good for a 1on1 but lose their strength in team fights a lot.
But before feature patch we had a condition meta were necros were really strong but honestly I dont want condition spam meta to come back to that extent

So first I need to mention I almost only play Ele, DD Ele Full zerker (to be precise), and every slot is reserved for burst. So I dont play a build mentioned there.
I need to mention as well, that i play that build since Ele was totally underpowered prior to April 14. , cause the only way back then for me to win a fight was to try to kill those OP Warriors etc before they could react, cause once they had time to react it was almost impossible to win against them (not only warriors other classes as well).

So now to your statement:

D/D ele and staff ele are like the new warrior. The problem with both eles and warriors is they do massive damage whilst be insanely tanky. Added to this, both are mobile. What this means is that ANY players who run such a tanky comp (either in solo or team q) are almost unbeatable. Their sustain is just mathematically too high for a squishy team to cope with. They make the fights last long by the fact they are tanky. And the longer the fights last the more screwed you are as a squishy class because you run out of cooldowns and just die. Rotations? Its np. You don’t get punished for sloppy rotations when everyone is tanky because everyone can hold a point, everyone can hold a 1v2 for a while. Everyone can take any 1v1 because they are tanky enough to not get 1 shot. So not only are these tanky builds easy to play, but when you put them together you get a comp which is easy to play (I have seen people from rank 200+ run tanky comps and immedietly shot into the top 50).

So basically the problem is not the classes itself its the tankmeta.
And there I want to tell you , guardians with the right Build are insanely strong.
I also met (since you seem to play necro) a tank necro once, and believe me that build was insanely strong (buffles me I only saw that build once maybe twice so far).

So now to the Ele builds you mentioned:

Zerk Staff, ya it does a huge amount of dmg, and ya AEs are very strong if you consider the size of the capturing points and I understand why you have problems with them, cause their weakness is close range fights and enemies with high mobility, so … not you though there are necro builds able to counter that.
And of course therer are also necro builds that utilize the smallness of the capturing points really well, you shouldnt forget that.

Celestial Aquamancer DD:

To be honest I met very few good ones, but they can be incredibly good I admit that.
But you need to keep one thing in mind, the sustain mainly comes from healing, a lot passive from the signet but also a lot from active actions as to proper rotations, so the problems with cool downs on rotations can affect them as well.
I tried this build as well but be honest , while i have a pretty high win rate with my full burst build, in the aquamancer build I always tend to wreck up after 30-40s infight (accidentally swapping to wrong attunement whatever and thus blocking the essential healing that moment)
I recommend you try to play that build yourself as already mentioned and uncover its weakness.

The funny thing is, that some of the tactics on that map could be definitly called exploits.
For example thief builds specially constructed only to scorpionwire ppl down.
Instakill out of invisibility by exploiting a map.
In other games ppl would get banned for that, especially because its influencing ppl in a direct way.
In GW2 thats protected exploiting , cause its skyhammer and developers are so friggin proud of their kittenmap.

Ya zerker is high risk/high reward. That’s pretty much the point. I go full zerker because I can manage and so can a good bunch of ppl. If you can’t manage it, ya go for a more defensive gear. But that doesn’t mean ’’oh ya so lets just go full Soldier and AH build because now you went to far and you are just a tanky dude. Its not a off and no switch, its a gradient of how more defensive vs offensive you have.

Well I play Ele since release and Im good at it.
And I think your statement is insulting because you basically do as if I couldnt dodge,
well I can.
And still there are Bosses where I wouldnt Risk to be oneshotted once the dodge is wrecked up(may it be a lag or whatever).

Not all events are like that, you can’t crit on some world boss. But on things like Gold Boss Blitz or Triple Wurm, then ya it make a big difference.

And if you lie down dead you do deal a lot of dmg.

I aggree that in 95% Berserker Gear ist totally sufficient. But its not that Dramatic, last time i did boss blitz (was a month ago) I had a “Gold” Team there, and since I do mostly world bosses recently(cause I dont have time for dungeon runs the entire day etc) I have Soldier Gear. In this Group the Bosses still died 3 minutes before Gold reward ended, and my team always had to wait for the other ones cause we dealt most dmg to the boss just saying.

The undenieable problem of berserker gear is that there are certain bosses that can kill a zerker Elementalist instant (one shot them) and there I wouldnt risk to go zerker, cause even if you are good, sometimes you have a lag whatever and miss your dodge and you shouldnt die instant there.
But those are only some bosses, as for the rest of the game berserker gear is just sufficient

You see an enemy player downed in , that is about <5% in downed state, an enemy comes in order to ressurect.
What do you do?
A) just do cleaving him so hes dead before the enemy reaches him
B) Try several times to get your finisher trough and being interrupted doing so, but hey everyone just HAS to see your finishing move

the most frustrating build is that one with permaevades and permablinks.

You cant throw them down etc, cause if they just port ahead, you can not hit then yet they can hit you, and yet whats even more frustrating everytime they blink around they heal themselves and if they realize they are about to lose they just run away and you cant follow them.

Considering the Playstyle Thiefs can be categorized as TROLLS

Somehow when I hit Warriors that have endure pain on , i cant apply conditions to them …..

But honestly a Hambow (and ive seen even stronger builds, hambow is just the easiest one to play) using endure pain, is really a pain in the…..
He’s capturing the point yet the points are so small that you cant stay on them against a hammer warrior cause even if their skills are “telegraphed” on a small region u cant properly evade them all.
And with 5 sec invulnerability they are god mode there.

I mean even mist form doesnt let you capture points, yet it only lasts 3 seconds, has a higher cooldown(75s), you cant do anything but moving if not rooted(hell why can mist be rooted)

As for focus 4:
Dont know if you can capture points with that, but if you can capture points while using that it should be deactivated as well.
Rarely seeing Elementalists that use focus, mainly because u sacrifize a lot of dmg.

I felt overwhelmed and confused by Skyhammer when it was first released.

But once I learned to play with the map and not against it, I immediately understood how to find enjoyment and to capitalize on this maps mechanics.

Now I enjoy this map.

Playing “with” the map means being limited to certain classes with certain builds.
From another Post I read you play turret engineer, hrm cant imagine why you find enjoyment on that map.

And as some above mentioned, okay has been mentioned several times here, in a competitive gameplay (ranking, leaderboard) that map has NO place.
Cause what’s called playing with the map here, would be considered as bugusing / exploiting in any other game (as long as it’s not a funmap).
