The fact that they changed your email address means there is a good chance they also have the password to the email account you were using on it. I would suggest changing that password as well, and maybe look at 2 step authentication.

There is actually a stick about the “Account blocked due to unacceptable behavior.” message. I suggest you read it. It clearly stated that all suspensions were receiving it in error and they were working to fix it, but yes, people do know what they did wrong. It’s easy, don’t be a jerk, don’t use foul language, and don’t cheat. Your friend might “claim” they did nothing wrong, but most of the time, when they are banned, they usually are in the wrong. Check out many of the posts in these forums of people claiming they did nothing wrong. An Anet rep has come in going “Well, you actually did this” as their proof.

Submitting a ticket is useless. Last time i was banned i submitted a ticket because i never received an email as to why. The response was, that i should check my spam folder because one was sent. I told them yet again, i have never received one and what were the reasons for my ban and the amount of time. They once again replied, we sent one, but still refused to answer the question. This went on for 3 days, by then my ban was over….and still to this day no one contacted from anet as to the reason of my ban. Very poor customer service IMO.

It’s also very possible you’re using an email service that can’t receive their emails. There is a sticky about this. Go read it, and then if this happens again, use a different email, reference your ticket number and say “Hey, I’m not getting this ticket reply, can you send it to this email instead.” They were sending them, your email was blocking it.

969703 – Please follow this up ASAP. I am giving my account to someone and have asked you guys to change the email of the account. I highly suggest you guys to allow users to change the email without having to send in a ticket. This would mean less work for you and a easier time for users.

That’s because they don’t want you to do this. At all. It’s against ToS to share accounts, because you technically can take the account back.

Since you already created a ticket, you just need to wait for support to handle it in the order that the tickets are received. If it’s been longer then 3 days, you can post in the sticky thread (note, if it hasn’t been 3 days and you choose to post there, they will just ignore your post completely).

It’s very possible the rollback was too far back. Did you try to update the ticket and state that, instead of posting on the forums without a ticket number? Support has sometimes gone too far back in a rollback, which is very possible in this case. Snapshots aren’t on a daily case.

Well, you can’t blame anet for her putting on the authenticator then selling the phone and not getting the code for it to move it to a new phone, or contacting support before selling the phone to have it removed. You were told that if it was past 3 days to post in the 3 days or more thread, and you wait until 7 days to post there? That’s also not on Anet. They have a lot of tickets in their system.

Actually, you can’t call Blizzard anymore. You can “request” a call back, but their callback queue is 90% of the time full and you can’t submit a ticket to them for it. They are moving to live chat, which doesn’t always work, and if you have an internet hiccup, you need to recreate ANOTHER ticket and cancel your first one. The way Anet handles things is pretty fair considering they don’t have a monthly fee to help support their game.

If I purchased a car for example and suddenly the manufacturer replaced it with a truck without warning because they didn’t agree with the car’s design, i’d be upset. I bought a car and I don’t like trucks and even though I bought a car, I ended up with a truck. Although guilds aren’t quite physical investments, they are still investments of time spent in the game to develop a specific community. Although I find your guild’s original name in no way even slightly offensive, I’m sure there are people out there who would take offense; people take offense at anything and everything in this crazy new age.

IMO ANet should have sent an ingame message to all guild members explaining that they needed to change the guild name and/or tag, and given the guild the option of a guild name/tag change instead of doing it for them without their consent.

I really like your guild name (Potentially Offensive) tbh and hope you are actually able to get the original name restored.

That would be a good example, if Anet sold the guild tags. The issue is, they created the ToS, and everyone agrees to it when they start their game. This carries over to their guilds. If you create a guild with an offensive name, Anet can do whatever they want to correct this issue since the guild creator wasn’t mature enough to create a name that was appropriate for the game.

Your example should have been that you bought a car, and put on a bunch of illegal mods, and the police took your car, and you were left with nothing, because you chose not to follow the laws.

At this point, all you are doing is talking on a public forum. You really need to submit a ticket. Even the Anet employees who man the forums always ask for a ticket number to ensure it’s being handled by the correct staff.

I can see ANet providing a simple useful feature that is two separate password for in game and forums possible. It doesn’t sound like it needs 5 years, several grants, and a research team.

Because if someone hacks your forum account, you have to prove you are the owner to get it back. Anet just won’t hand it over to anyone if you want it reset. And for them to put in the effort to change it would also cost money. Bottom line, It will all cost them money when it’s really on you to keep YOUR password safe. Don’t use public computers to log into the forums to post. Don’t use public wifi to use the the forums. Keep your personal information safe.

In that case, I will just have to give my serial code, my last four credit card digit number, my character’s name, and other information that ANet ask. A few hours later, Bam, forum account back.

Now, if my game account gets hacked because I logged in. Same process. Same ‘money’ lost. If I want all my items back, ANet will have to lose more time and money to thoroughly investigate if I was hacked. I think it is cheaper to lose only a forum account.

The point is, it costs money. Period. Protect your own account. They gave you the tools. Use them, or don’t log on shaddy internet locations. End of story. In the end, YOU need to protect your account. PERIOD. Anet can only do so much.

Oh, the OP wants to POST on the forums. Not just read. That is why it says he has to log in. If you want to post, yes, you’ll have to log in. If you want to use public places to log in, you’ll risk your password. Deal with it. That isn’t on Anet. They aren’t going to completely separate their forums and game just because people want to use public places to log on. Because then you’ll have to contact support to get it reset, which costs them money to assist you. Anet doesn’t have a sub fee for the game, so they only can for certain get the money when you purchase the game. Gem money is not guaranteed income, so they can’t plan it for monthly budgets.

Actually, numerous times ANET themsevles have come in and quoted cedo saying exactly the same thing. Actually, it said read this page, and if the page doesn’t help, contact support. Dev’s from Anet don’t reply to every single post on the forums. It’s not possible for them to, nor is it expected for them to. If you want help from Anet, you contact them via the support function they have in place.

Unfortunately, Anet does not restore guild banks. They even made a post about this already. It would ruin the economy of the game if they did. You can find the post about it in the forum even. It sucks for your guild, but the reason behind it is very sound.

Again, you have to submit a ticket. If you aren’t getting the emails, send in an email referencing that ticket from a completely different email. Support is only via emails, unless you need them to review a ticket, and still then, all the forums do is send reminders to the agents involved, and the responses are still sent via email.

If you read what Michael posted, they block words similar to the offending word because users have been known to just pick something close to the bad name again. My bet is that the name was close to Nigerian.

Right now there is a high influx of tickets because people are coming back for the newest WvW season, and need help with their hacked accounts they didn’t know about. Also, the commander tag refund issue caused higher then normal tickets to be submitted. Finally, there are people who love to just keep submitting tickets for the same reason which also slows down support. All of these cause there to be a delay in a response. Your ticket is answered based on the order it was received.

If you read what Michael posted, USUSALLY you are banned for that. You were just suspended. If you really want to argue with Anet about that, then go right ahead. No offense, but I highly doubt people are going to believe you over Anet. And here is why:

1) You were suspended for impersonation (which you admitted to, and that was dumb to even try in the first place).
2) You had your display name changed because of it was inappropriate.

Your record clearly shows you make poor choices. I highly doubt this current suspension was unjustified. If you want someone to check into your current ban, submit a ticket like everyone else has to. Michael isn’t on the forums to tend to your needs, that is what CS is for.

I’ve seen full servers drop down to very high at “low population times” on some days. It really is a luck of a draw if the server is full to get on it. Just have to keep trying, or wait for a time when CS does a server increase.

You don’t need your serial code to have your account returned. Though if you no longer have access to the email account tied to your gw2 account, when you contact support (click support at the top) you should also change the email address to a new one. They ask for other pieces of information that you should know to get your account back.

Actually, your account was banned due to a payment issue. Doesn’t matter that it wasn’t directly your issue. When a payment bounces, Anet locks down accounts really fast. It happens. Deal with it. It wasn’t someone “banning you” because they felt like it. There was a payment issue, and now it’s been corrected. Honestly, it’s a free to play game, you don’t deserve any item for not being able to play for a few days. If this game had a monthly fee, I could see asking for payment, or extra days, but that is about it.

I really confused by your message. From what I got, you were basically told "Your account was hacked (which it was) and it was restored (which it was) and they only offer it once to everyone. Doesn’t matter that your account was banned or not. It was still hacked, and THAT is were the security risk is.

Anet only offers one (1) account rollback. That it was they were trying to get across.

You need to remove your account name right away. You just gave hackers half the information needed to get into your account. Also, don’t post your serial code, that’s also giving them access to be able to reset the password. You need to submit a ticket to get help. Click the support link at the top.

One advice to every one in this game: I’ve NEVER been hacked in any other games i played, and i’m a veteran player of mmo’s.
In this game, i got hacked not ONCE but TWICE.

At the first time, support restored my itens and gold, but, at the second time that i got hacked, i got this response:

“As previously stated, we cannot perform a second restoration. The reason is because it will negative impact the economy of the game.”

Now, i payed for the game, played the game, and now i have to quit the game because of the lack of security that this company offers to custommers.

How can i still playing this game, work to get money and itens again and be hacked for the third time ina few weeks?

The funny thing is that the company can’t even defend itself and players from hacks, but is careful about the “impact in the economy of the game”.

Um. I’ve never been hacked in GW2, and I was hacked on my D3 account. And that hack on the D3 account was when Blizzard themselves were hacked and a lot of accounts were vulnerable. Anet has 2 authenticators (email and mobile) that people can use to protect themselves. They also have done a forced password reset back when Blizzard was hacked to ensure people weren’t using the same email and password with their hacked Blizzard accounts. What else would you like them to do? You have to be an adult and realize that this account is your responsibility and protect it yourself. Just like you would with your bank accounts, or email accounts.

Guild Bank "hacked"

It’s not about “guild politics”. It’s simple. How many guild banks do they restore for a hack. If their was a big guild, whose bank was stolen say 6-7 times, and they always restored it, that’s 6 times those items are being put into the game economy. It would ruin it. I know a guild that was storing about 10 precussors for their guild members. If that was stolen even 2 times, just think of the amount of money the game would have created because of hacks. Anet has to draw the line. Guild banks not getting restored is one of them.

Actually, Anet has been extremely clear they only offer 1 account restoration per account. They are even clear about it when they restore the account. How is it Anet’s fault your account was hacked? They didn’t have a breach of security, otherwise a lot (and I mean A LOT) more accounts would be hacked.

The fact that many many accounts are never hacked, and you were hacked twice, shows something you are doing needs to change. When Anet restores the account, they don’t go and remove all the gold and items taken from you, since they then could be sold to someone who didn’t know they item they bought on the TP was stolen, and then they lost money. Anet just restores your account, and the items are then added into the economy. Giving people multiple restorations can really ruin the value of items if they just keep spawning new ones.

Edit: Also, you shouldn’t make multiple posts on the same subject. It’s against the forum rules.

That was really long, and all I got from it was you were scammed, but you fell for it, since you gave the person money. Technically, he asked for money and you gave it, so it’s not really a scam. Shady yes, scam no. You weren’t promised anything in return for a “trade”.

To the ban, no idea what you were talking about so I’m assuming it’s not because you looked someone up online. I’m just really confused on this whole post.

No, Anet doesn’t recover guild banks when they do account roll backs. Only personal banks are restored.

The forums aren’t always manned by a member of Anet’s staff. You won’t really get a response, especially on a Sunday evening. Your friend is best to update his ticket with more information, but it sounds like he’s not telling you the whole truth if someone else is also contacting Anet about the account.

Your friend has to speak to support to handle it. There are a lot of tickets being submitted, so even if there was a “live chat support”, your friend still has to wait for his turn. The ticket system works rather well when people use it correctly. He’ll get answered when his ticket turn comes up, which shouldn’t be long. He account also would have had a reason when he tries to log in, my bet is your buddy didn’t sit down and read it. Anet is pretty clear in the message the put up.

How do you not have the credit card information used when you bought the account? Unless you changed your credit card number (which is extremely rare to happen, and your bank will have access to the old number if you call them) you should still have the credit card in the wallet. Unless someone else bought you the game. But then, you shouldn’t have their credit card saved on your computer anyways. Sucks for your friend, but it almost sounds like something is going on that he isn’t telling you.

I use my PS4 controller to play GW2, have been since I got my PS4 on launch day. I had to use Xpadder to map it and I’m still tweaking the control mappings I have here and there. I’ve talked to literally hundreds of people who’ve asked me how it works and how I have it set up and they usually leave fairly impressed with how well I’ve mapped it and how well it works telling me that they would have thought I would have issues keeping up with a mouse and keyboard.

Just today 3 people told me I can get banned because of how I have my controller mapped. In order to use all of the keys I had to map it a certain way, for example to use the second set of skills I have:
L2 + Triangle is heal
L2 + Square is 7
L2 + X is 8
L2 + Circle is 9
L2 + R2 is 10
I have other things to like R2 + left stick moves the cursor as well. Now, they’re telling me that they’re going to report me because I’m not aloud to have multiple keys set to one button. Can I get bannes for this? Nothing in my controller mapping gives me any type of advantage at all, I have the key combos there because they need to be there to play the game. It confuses me because I’ve talked to 2 ANet guys regarding it and they were rather intrigued by it, asking me all sorts of questions and everything and neither of them said anything about banning me or me getting a potential ban because of it, and went over my mapping top to bottom with them for almost half an hour with each one. They left just as the others did, impressed by how well I had it working.

Guild Wars 2 is one of my favorite games, I don’t want to get banned from it. I prefer using the controller much more then I do using a keyboard and mouse to play, but I NEED to have it mapped the way I do to use it as there is obviously not enough buttons to use it otherwise. If it is a problem then I’ll suck it up and go bacm to using a mouse and keyboard. I had just assumed it was fine because nobody has ever told me it was a problem until today. Like I said, I don’t want to get banned.

They have it backwards. You have multiple buttons for 1 key, not multiple keys tied to 1 button. I don’t see how using a controller gives you more of an advantage since you have to press multiple buttons on it where someone on a keyboard presses 1 (aka you use 2 fingers, they use 1). I really don’t see how you could be, though it does sound pretty neat to use a controller.

Can't Create a character

Blackgate is one of the servers that is extremely full. I’m very surprised your friends didn’t tell you this. You can’t create characters on a full server. If you aren’t looking to play with them in wvw, you can create on a different server, and you guys can just guest onto either blackgate, or they can guest onto your server and play together.

If you are looking to play in WvW with them, then you’ll have to wait until you can a time when the server has an open spot, OR you can create a character now and pay to transfer later on. Those are your options.

Just because your friend is telling you he didn’t do anything wrong, doesn’t mean he’s being honest with you. I’m going to side with Anet on this one. I’m better your friend is lying to you, and he did in fact, run a 3 party program. Deal with it.

My bet is they explained how to transfer to a (as in any) server, and the OP took it on how to get on Blackgate and misread the ticket. The OP posted that he sent in a ticket demanding they transfer him to Blackgate. Not surprised he didn’t understand.

Here is a direct quote from Gaile about changing your display name:

Just to explain further: We cannot fulfill requests to change Display Names upon request unless the Display Name may involve a potential security issue. So “I don’t like that name” or “I misspelled the name” or “I want to get away from former friends” isn’t sufficient reason for the changing of a Display Name.

However, if someone inadvertently used his or her full name as a Display Name — which I sense may be the case here — we’d most likely be able to assist with a change. Please submit a ticket by clicking “Support” at the top of this page and then clicking the “Submit a request” option. Provide as much information as possible in the web form, because that will create a ticket within the support system. You are not required to provide all the information but may leave fields blank when you cannot accurately complete them. The team should be able to help you.

As she stated, it needs to be your full name for them to change it. Since it isn’t, that is why they won’t change it. Having just a first name doesn’t qualify for their change as it doesn’t cause a potential security risk.
