Transferring from a New Account

I am new to the game, and have run into this playing with my wife. We only ever send money to each other’s accounts, or use the BLT, and Gem Market, but somehow I am flagged.

If you want loyalty in your customer base, stop treating the new people like second class citizens. Perhaps start with something that might be a little more work on your end, but has less effect on the innocent gamers caught on this end, which given the existence of this thread there are many. I suggest allowing new players to only send to those on their friend’s list, and keep a datamined log of who is friends with who and when those relationships start and stop. See one person befriending and unfriending at high speed, and you know who to banhammer. It is a LOT better than arbitrially smacking anyone who might do high value transfers with an effective “Cease and Desist” especially when they haven’t done anything wrong.

This thread is actually a year old. That’s how long this has been in effect. And this works. All you are required to do is play. It doesn’t stop anything in the game. You can still access ALL content. And why would a new account need to send LARGE sums of money. The more you play, the more you can send, and without a short period of time, it’ll be removed.

I just don’t know what story to tell them other than the above.

That’s why Anet doesn’t want to change display names. Because you can then hide your “footprint” and start fresh….

Which usually means people will go and be giant jerks, steal items from guilds, and then change their name so you never know who it is.

I went and looked at the thread that you were demanding Anet to reply to. NOBODY in that thread posted a traceroute to prove that it’s on Anet’s side and not yours.

If you want Anet to fix something, saying there is lag, but not showing the lag in a traceroute so they can see it’s at their side and not somewhere else between you and them, then you need to get that done. Otherwise, they are completely entitled to tell you it’s your computer/ISP etc.

Payment failure, appalling support ensues

I’ve also experienced this problem with digital river during past transactions (When I purchased the base game during the $10 promo when HoT was announced). In that instance I talked to digital river’s customer service representative, who provided no help, and said it wasn’t their problem since they were no longer affiliated with arena net.

This time around I am having worse troubles and no payment is being accepted again. I have also tried 2 credit cards and as well as my paypal account to purchase the HoT ultimate expansion with no luck. I get a “payment authorization failed” after processing. They don’t mention why it failed, and there is no message as to who to contact when a failure occurs. I don’t feel like calling digital river support for them to tell me it’s not their problem again, even though they are providing the transaction processing.

Can arena net provide an alternate method for obtaining the digital downloaded expansion since digital river is beyond useless?

BTW, I have tried obtaining the expansion both in game and through the guildwars2.com website with no difference in outcome. Since my wife and I have an account I have tried buying 2 copies and only one to see if it’s a maximum amount limit. My only assumptions are that digital river thinks people only buy gems and any amount above and beyond $20-30 is flagged and not allowed to proceed.

I’m confused, I’m angry, and I’m without options at this point.

Except that I know people who have purchased hundreds (yes, hundreds, they actually hit the monthly cap that 1 credit card can purchase and thus are required to use a second card). It’s something else going on.

If we allow changes of display names, a person who has been harassing another player will be hidden from that victim’s sight. A person who has built up a reputation for cheating, or botting, or doing other breaches of the UA, becomes invisible to those players who were aware of the issue and were awaiting action on the matter. Several other factors of “individual accountability” can be negated by simply hiding behind a new display name.

That comment alone explains why they don’t, and most likely never will.

Also, each account holder will need to contact. Support won’t address accounts that don’t belong to you. So each of your friends will need to contact support. And you really shouldn’t have any of your email posted. The forums still won’t help you with your account.

Yeah, I kno nuffin like Jon Snow. That’s why the MTR logs show no packet drops and a steady connection but the game still disconnects out of the blue.

I’m not saying I’m getting them 24/7, I think I had around 10-15 so far in the past year, but that’s not acceptable for an AAA game, especially since you get removed from the original map which ruins my gameplay completely. This is in EU btw, which had problems with the connections for a long time now, just search the forums.

Just because you don’t have problems doesn’t mean no one has, different locations take different packet routes to reach the servers. I for example never had frame rate problems in Dry Top or SW like others had, but I won’t go saying there’s no such problem and Anet shouldn’t address it just because I don’t have any issue.

And the fact that not everyone is having the issue shows that it most likely isn’t on Anet’s end.

Example: A GPU driver could be causing someone’s FPS issue. And the driver isn’t working with GW2 and maybe other games that the user doesn’t play. The user won’t assume the new driver they got is the issue because “it’s only happening for GW2”.

Example: “Only GW2 is having lag issues” Well, it could be how your IPS routes the signal to Anet’s servers, and one of the hops is causing the issue, but your other game doesn’t use that hop. It’s not Anet’s fault, but you’ll blame them because “other games work just fine”

Shall I continue, or can you see how a lot of the issues aren’t actually Anet’s fault?

Run the programs CPU-Z and GPU-Z with the game opened and show the reports for that. It will help determine where the issue lies.

Full means it’s full right now and Anet is not allowing new accounts to be created on that server. There could be times when the server does open up and allow a new account to be created on it, though when that happens will be random. Anet has increased the cap a few times to allow more people on, but that will not be announced unless there is a major patch.

It’s possible (don’t count on it) that when HoT is released they might have a server increase to allow new players to join servers, but again, that isn’t written in stone.

Can't Upgrade Std HoT to Deluxe in Gem Store

What I’m thinking might be the cause, is that it’s showing you the upgrade, but it’s an error in in the store. (This is all speculation).

It’s possible the gem upgrade might not be available until the game is released.

Anet already let you have 2 choices. Keep the package you have, or refund the package. You’re getting an extra slot. So they aren’t giving that slot for free. You’ll have 2.

Anything else they won’t do. End of story.

Anet made no false advertising in their FAQ. I went and read it.

“If you purchased the core game from a third party, we are unable to provide a refund. However, if you registered the core game between January 23, 2015 and June 16, 2015 and upgrade it by prepurchasing any Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns edition before Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns‘ launch, we will add one additional character slot to your Guild Wars 2 account. The process of delivering your additional character slot will be the same as described above. If you would like a refund, you will need to contact that third party, as refunds are dependent on their policies and rules.”

Clearly states the refunds are dependent on their (3rd party) policies and rules.

Just so you know, they actually cannot remove the character slot once it’s been applied. Since you did buy it, they most likely aren’t going to be able to remove it.

I have that processor and a 660, and I get a lot more fps then that. You need to run GPU-Z and CPU-Z while the game is running, take screenshots and post.

If you aren’t getting the automated email confirmation, you need to try a different email address. Otherwise, there is (at least was) a sticky about not getting their emails and to try that. If you aren’t getting the automated message, you won’t get any emails either.

To keep the question simple: the FAQ basically states that next week, normal/deluxe version (not ultimate) will be available EVERYWHERE except in non certified retailers with pre-purchase bonus. This counters your post with ‘currently only’ + some words in a sentence. Plz nulify this confusion. Thanks.

As in, until said date, those stores should NOT be selling HoT. NOW is only available on the GW2 site. That is it. When that date comes, then it will also be available from authorized retailers, which will be on that date in the future.

There is no confusion. Now is NOW, as in today. Tomorrow is not now.

I received this mail also – it would be nice if Anet would do something about it.

Did you report it? Then Anet will do something about it. It’s pretty hard for them to ban scan/hacked accounts that are doing this if people don’t report it. And the people sending those emails will just hack another account to send the mail from. So it’s a never ending battle.

The NCsoft hops are just showing that they don’t accept ping requests. Considering the ping at the last one is 1% lost and only 124ms, it’s not an issue with them.

It’s possible the patch isn’t compatible with drivers for certain video cards. Try a different driver for your cards to see if that helps.

Update The Install Client Download

Some of these updates cancel each other out and are purely seasonal, with no regard for going back over years.

GW2 doesn’t work like that. The launcher only downloads files that are required by the live game. It’s why everyone’s Gw2.dat file may be different. Mine for example is 22.3 GB.

If the launcher was actually downloading all the changes since launch, it wouldn’t have been ~300k files, it would have been double that or more.

Basically, what you downloaded was just the the current build for the game. It is a MMO, so yes, there is going to be a lot of files required.

They have certain pieces of information to prove ownership. Really depends on what you were giving.

I know at one of my jobs, for us to authenticate an account, we had criteria, and people still thought that they were above that and could provide other things. Just because you “gave more” doesn’t mean it’s the more they consider proof of ownership.

I also alt-tab a lot and haven’t had a keyboard issue at all. So it’s something on your end causing the issue. I run 2 monitors, and windowed mode, and press alt-tab just fine.

Oh, you’re talking about the email they sent after you created the ticket. It’s automated and it’s based on the words you used in your ticket. I said I was missing items, and because you used those words, 99% of the time, it’s due to a compromise.

As to your point that because you don’t know anyone, doesn’t mean your account can’t get compromised. YES, it can. They can hack your email, and they can from there, destroy your account. They don’t even have to know you. Use the same email and password on a forum, BANG, you are at risk.

Also, when you create tickets, when you write walls of text, yes, it’s hard to follow. Less is more in the initial ticket.

Your 660 should be able to handle the game fine. It really sounds like your CPU is the bottle neck, or that your GPU might be failing.

The percentage is always going to reset to 0 when you restart it, but what you downloaded has already been saved. What you need to check is how many files you have downloaded, and if it’s the same file causing the error.

You didn’t understand what I said at all. Of course when you restart the download the percentage is always going to be 0. It goes from 0-100. It’s the amount of files left that you need to watch. It has nothing to do with restarting the download.

The point of it is to show you how much left you have. When you restart, it just knows you need X amount. It doesn’t go and look at what you already downloaded.

Has nothing to do with AMD. The game itself is more CPU then GPU based. It doesn’t mean if your GPU is running slower then it should that your game will still run fine. Your GPU isn’t at x16 like it should be.

Did you complete the story mode since that feature was put in? It doesn’t look if you have the story mode achievement, you have to complete the story mode.

I remember because I had all story modes completed, then they put this feature in, and I had to go do all the story modes again.

Because some people get a lot of mail from say their guild, or friends if they are opposite shifts, that they will just click it all the time. Sorry, but Anet did their part. If people can’t read ALL of the mail they receive, and see the lack of Anet logo, then it’s really on them.

I don’t see why they can’t offer a short term recovery offered lets say if you want your character back within a week or 2.. Yes you have to type in the name but does anyone have kids? They get mad, they do stupid things.. my daughter has deleted important characters in other games (yes she can read and write names) since she wanted a free slot and I wasn’t around and luckily they returned my character. I fail to see how offering a short term recovery would be such a bad thing

That’s why you need to keep your account secure. So that your “little brother”, children and other sorts don’t log into your account without your permission and delete your characters. All I can see here is a situation when the person was negligence on their part to keep their personal account safe, and then wants a company to use their resources (which will cost money, hardware, training, time of support agents, etc) to correct an issue that should never occur.

Simply put. Don’t leave your account logged in. Don’t save your account details in the log in screen, if you have people in your house who can delete characters when you aren’t at your computer. It’s really simple.

And this is why the message needs to be at the top and not the bottom…and in big red letters…

Actually, people have even seen the message, and posted on the forums going “I know it says this, but Anet, can you really really confirm if it’s you or not.”

So a big red warning won’t help. People need to actually be a little smarter with their account security.

Name 1 gaming company in the past which has sent out an email, or in game mail going “go to this random website, fill in ALL your account details so we don’t close your account for the malicious activity we think you have done.” That alone screams issues.

If anyone ever has a concern that they did something against the rules, it’s always best to use the proper ways to contact Anet, and ask them. Instead of giving them the information that Anet would never need.

You need to contact support RIGHT AWAY. Tell them what you did, and they will help you. Change the password on your email address, on your account, and anything else that shares the information.

If you played 26 hours of that time over 2 days, then the account isn’t “old enough” per Anet’s standards. You can do what Trog said and contact support, but they won’t give you exact details on when you can send the gold, seeing as that information would help RMT accounts know when new accounts can send gold out.

Also, doesn’t matter if you were banned, banned and new accounts aren’t related.

If you really want an answer, submit a ticket. Though it’s also extremely possible that you had multiple instances since your original ban of the few hours that they just decided to not give you a small one and increase it because you didn’t learn you lesson.

It’s really quite simple. Turn off all chats but your guild chat if you can’t be nice. You obviously didn’t drop just a couple “f bombs” if you got suspended once already and now have a week long suspension.

I buy a car, I don’t get full details on the car (it’s used) and it turns out the person I bought it from stole it and is selling me stolen goods. The police come and take the car away.

Replace car with GW2 cd key and Anet with police. That’s why they took the account away. They can’t communicate who is selling stolen keys because… they have been stolen and Anet won’t be able to track them down until they are used.

It really does sound like your computer can’t handle the 2 being streamed across your local network. And the reason it can stop working could have nothing to do with GW2 but that it’s a sign your wireless card is having issues.

Any idea what might have changed in the last couple of weeks to cause this to suddenly become an issue? I haven’t made any major changes to my setup or installed any new programs other than standard Windows updates and GW2 patches.

It could very well be the card itself is starting to have issues. Technology can fail. If you can stream hardwired, then you know it’s your wireless having an issue. That’s really the best way to test is to plug the machine directly in and continue on like you are now. If others in the house can stream while you play, then it’s not something with GW2 but machine related.

I’m thinking the reason it’s saying “contact support” is because the contact information is completely different between the 2 accounts, so it can’t link them. By contact, I mean, name, dob, the stuff you can’t change since you can’t share/trade/give away accounts. You shouldn’t be using your brothers account.

Excessive Patch Size

It could be that you have corrupted files that the game’s patcher found and is repairing. Could be that you actually do have a setting difference that requires more files. Could be that you might have missed a mini patch and it’s really two patches in one.

Unless the two machines are EXACTLY the same (including any errors on the HD), it’s quite possible an install be slightly different. Can’t really compare based “just want you found on the internet”

Could be that your install is on a bad sector of your hard drive. No matter how many times you repair, the sector is still going to have issues and would have this type of problem.

The google posts could be wrong, could be based on “I just installed with discs and now I have to download an installed another 15 gigs…”

Without knowing what posts you were looking at and if they were official words from Anet on the size of their game, if the download requires it, then you require those files.
