I am trying even now while i type (cutscene unskpabble…) as a warrior.

I can confirm that she will first throw bombs and if you are close the grab and throw you away thing.

1: Staying in left or right walls or in the rock near her dont work.
2: Stability doesnt work.
3: Break stuns doesn’t work.
4: Dodge still doesn’t work to avoid the grab.

I am trying now to use 3 from GS (whirlwind) since i believe if i can make it to her at same times as bombs are thrown, maybe i can get her (not sure if bombs skill prevents her to do her other skill).

Remeber Tequatl? at first nobody used to beat it, even if the people did it took like 14:50 minutes. Now Tequatl is killed and even 7-8 minutes are left.

This event focus on the same thing, it can be done but it needs extra pressure. It’s also hard if not everyone in lions arch is lvl 80.

Aetherblade diving goggles

I did get this diving googles in my first attempt. Took me only 11 minutes to go from outside in gendarran to the top of the diving googles position. I guess you need to improve a bit, with no offensive intention.

AOE Problem

I’m not sure in what Arah path you are getting problems… but…

I play in very low graphics and i see all the red circles. Some of them are just too big and you need to put your camera really far to see them (As example, the enormeous areas from the nightmare flowers scattered all about tyria since tower of nightmares).
It might also happen that you are trying to watch the areas of skills that do not have a circle to watch (As example, oakhearts in queensdale got a skill that will Root everyone nearby (like 10 or 15 meters), the range of that skill doesn’t have a red circle and you will not know if you are in or out of the range, however you can just dodge if you see the enemy animation, wich requires a learning proccess for every enemy).

That’s how the game works, it’s not a matter of graphics, it’s just the way it’s.

Hmm, that’s not what I meant. If you have fought Belka before (first boss of arah P2) she sometimes throw that AOE without a red circle. Same thing for Lupicus phase 2 when he raise his hands and spread AOEs, some of them just won’t show so I’m confused =/

Not sure about Belka, however Lupicus aoes are funny because they work differently from other AoEs in the game.

I believe the Lupicus AoEs works same as a “lock on”. If you are in the area for a second but you leave it, you will get no damage immediately, but then 2-3 seconds later you will die out of the area. This is because you were “locked” when you were in the area and the actual hits of lupicus were throw after you left the area, in wich case you will still get the damage even if you left the area.
This creates a false asumption that Red circles in Lupicus are broken, however they are not broken, they just work differently. I’m not 100% sure about this theory, but since i’m playing with this in mind i’m surviving every ranged phase 2 of lupicus without troubles.

So… short story: All lupicus circles show up, some of them just lock you on and delay the damage to hit when you are out of the circle.

Edit It’s possible to dodge the “lock” part of the area if you dodge fast enough, however that’s hard to achieve.

The Miasma is...

Unless the hyleks where affected by it somehow years ago and they did know where it’s from even if the hyleks are not the “creators” of it.

What if the miasma is from Tequatl? Hyleks are known flee from the sea because of dragons, and maybe some hyleks fleed to land because of Tequatl. Maybe tequatl poisoned some hyleks and they learned how it works that way, and maybe scarlet did get that poison…

There is a lot of “maybes” but i don’t think hyleks are the poison source.

I'm a victim of dungeon selling

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about it until ArenaNet creates a system that will punish people for doing this.

And that system will be extremely difficult to create.

That system might work “good” by this rules.
1: Only leader/opener of the group can request a kick (protect sellers)
2: At least 2 players must accept to kick (provides a majority choice, not minority).
3: A player that did the previous 3 fractals gets a stackable “buff” or something that allows him to get the reward. Hence if he’s kicked, the buff will still be active for 24 hours for the same exact fractal level. So if he does again the 4 fractals, he will get 2 tiers of the buff (while the other 4 guys would get just 1 tier) and if suceeded, he would get double reward from the completition of 4th fractal. That is a fix that would give him the proper reward if it’s kicked from a fractal, but the 24hours limit also provides a punishment just in case he did deserved the kick.
-Problem 1: What if you just did 2 of the 3 fractals? no buff? Anet should give a stackable buff for each fractal, not only last one i guess… but then everyone could just join 1 fractal, leave, join another, leave… and stack a lot of the buffs exploiting.
-Proble 2: I don’t know, but i’m sure there is more problems.

I don’t see yet how it would work for normal dungeons, and i did though on “not possible to be kicked while in combat”, but some people just learned how to exploit and never lose in-combat state, wich would make them impossible to be kicked. So much fixes are needed for a proper system…

You missed the biggest problem: Balancing pvp and pve.

The perfect solution for pve wouldn’t work for pvp. The perfect solution for pvp wouldn’t work for pve.

As long as Anet doesn’t realize that gw2 is getting massive problems of balance because of it, they won’t probably change it. Sadly i’m one of the guys that never plays pvp and i notice how much useful the cap for pve would need to be removed, but i also understand how dangerous could be for pvp if it was removed

Be more compassionate? I’m pretty sure it was easier and faster to kill those guys, as it was 12v4, but instead of trying he came to the forums calling them out (which is against the rules iirc). That deserves no compasion at all, it’s like someone failing a math test, blaming the teacher for asking hard questions while they didn’t prepare for the exam, and then they go to the principal to complain about said teacher

You can’t win a 12vs5 fight in certain places. It wouldn’t mind if there was 50 vs 10. In the well they had a way to throw everyone down before we can hit from beneath. As example, the necros were putting marks of fear in the small wood places from positions where we couldn’t hit them. Even with stability, none of us would make the remaining 10 jumps in time before they fear or pull or other skills back.
Numbers mean nothing in such conditions, they had the terrain advantage.

So some guys of a server blocked some other guys from another server from a chest with free siege that they could use to attack their stuff, and you call them trolls? Maybe they didn’t want to kill you (save you the repair bill) but also didn’t want you to reach the chest, then fearing, knockbacking etc is the only thing they can do

Their guild name says the opposite, and some guys that came to help me said that this specific Kodash guild is Always in obsidian sanctum being annoying. It’s not a matter of “we can o we can’t, it’s a fight, we know the rules, win or don’t cry”. It’s just how frustrating it gets to get people willing to destroy your hopes. As i said before, we did see other players from the others servers and there was no fights, we were standing literally 1meter close to each other, stacked in some jumps, but Respect made us both to not attack the other players. That kind of players are welcome, but the trolls… i’m sorry, it’s just too much annoying.

i’m sorry if my english is wrong

Today i gotta admit that i’m frustrated, dissapointed, kittened off and probably mad at them. Who? a certain guild of Kodash server.

I’m in a casual guild of Baruch Bay server. We have not so much players online and we are not into WvsW a lot, however i managed to get a guild group of payers looking for something to do tonight and 4 of them needed the Obsidian Sanctum achievement. I did that several times so i asked them if they wanted to do it. It’s a cool place to go… unless you find the guys that made me mad today.

My group and I fell a lot of times in a lot of rooms, using mesmers portals and a lot of tries to get to the dome where the enemies are in different cages. So far we found enemies from other servers that never attacked us, they were just minding their business and doing the puzzle like we did, they never attacked us and we never did attack them. However… at the dome, i read in the map channel that some players from my server died because of some guys at the top. One minute later i see how 2 players from the top come to the dome and start attacking us. At that moment we didn’t realize that it would turn into a nightmare.
Those 2 players were not killing us, they were just being annoying, a lot of Fears, Knockbacks, pull skills. They were having a fun time and i laughed a bit since it was a good Trolling moment for them. Some fun isn’t bad sometimes and they were not killing us anyway. Once i finally made it to the top, wich was extra hard with them around, they killed me in a blink (lvl 14 mesmer as i was helping my guild). Then 3 more enemies came from the top, and they 5 killed my friends… forced us to retreat to the beggining of all the puzzle, we lost 30 minutes because of it.

Then i did pay attention and I noticed their guild name “***********”. My guild did retreat and I watch with pain in my eyes how try after try after try in 2 freaking hours, those guys keep fearing us into cliffs, killing us time after time and blocking our goal. We tried everything, everyone in my server left because of them and the last 5 players were the one from my guild. At a point 1 of my guild also had to go and we were 4 against those trolls… it wasn’t funny anymore.
I switched into my main character, used my commander tag, went to gendarran and asked for help of the server. At that point the entire kodash guild was waiting for us in the WayPoints and nobody from my server could land down because they instantly killed us. We tried to go down 5 at same time, but since everyone needed the achievement, only 1-2 players surviving wasn’t a choice. Finally 6 players that recalled my name from marionette came to help and we slaughtered all the enemies from that Kodash guild with joy. It seems we would finally be able to complete the puzzle. However… i was wrong.

I guess they had a mesmer up, and before we could reach the top of the well, the mesmer would port all 4 of their allies up. Eventually none of the 12 players of my server were able to get to the top of that well. They were using fears even before we could reach them. They had a necro, an engineer and specially traited to be annoying.

1 hour later my server had to surrender, we tried hard, we wanted to complete it, the 4 guys in my guild were sad because they never had such a bad experience in gw2, we only wanted to complete the achievement… but there was a Kodash guild that was unable to let us complete it.

So… this is a call for help. If you are in kodash server and if you can somehow contact to that nasty guild, please tell them to stop. It’s not funny when trolling gets to this level of annoyance.

A new angle to tanking!

Of course, dodging only works twice then you WILL take damage until it recharges. I wish they created more mitigation reflect skills instead of the frenetic Mexican Jumping Bean dodge mechanic.

Of course if dodge would work everytime nobody would ever die and the fights would be bored. But i just made my post to make him notice the major difference between his previous MMO and this one. I want him to learn and adapt into that because he got the enough experience to learn how supportive and other skills works by himself.

Notice that i didn’t say to “just” dodge and do nothing, of course you need to use skills, you will get damage if there is more than 1 enemy, you will need to heal and reflect and attack and give buffs, etc. But the OP needs to learn how to add dodges to his usual rotation, that’s what i think he should start working on first, since it’s a feature he’s not used to from other MMOs.

Aww that’s ok! I think you’ll find it’s a fun fight :P

I “forced” a group to fight him once (being in a group for path 1 was a rarity in itself, as I’ve pretty much only solod it for ages) and I could not stop laughing it was so awesome. For soloing make sure you get him to revive all of the corpses in the area you plan to fight him in first because one of them being alive can easily ruin the fight! After he revives it, run ooc. The adds will disappear after they lose aggression.

Oh so that’s why there is so many corpses around him!… another thing that i’ve never know because of skipping tactics. Doh! GW2 interesting fights shouldn’t be skippable :\

LFG Aetherpath farm for dream weapons

120 full runs done, noticed they drop more in the events after last boss. Saving the npcs, killing the captain, doing the chests things… I encourage groups to do all 5 events since it’s what i’ve seen drops them more often. I’ve seen also some drop from slick and sparki and clockheart chests… i guess everything in Aether got a small chance to drop them.

Nevertheless, it’s an amazing dungeon, good luck in there!

A new angle to tanking!

I played a tank in Lotro for 3 years and i feel you, however once you adapt to gw2, you’ll realize they did a step ahead into MMO’s combat system and it works great.

GW2 is strongly built in a different way from other MMOs. In all those MMOs you are forced to received the damage and then heal it. A tank is needed since someone must receive the damage. However, GW2 encourages you to NOT receive the damage in the first place. Every player can always use the dodge feature to become “invulnerable” to any attack for 1 second, so nobody needs to receive the damage.

This game it’s all about timing, since you can carefully watch enemies animations and time when to dodge or when to save it.

Also, a common problem for newbies is that they think a dodge is used to move away, that’s a misstake. A dodge is used to become invulnerable for 1 second, that said, you can dodge against a wall at the same time a boss makes his powerful 1shot attack and you won’t get damage just because you were dodging.

So… I must be honest with you, tanking is not impossible, but is pretty much useless since you can avoid the damage instead of receiving it and then healing it.

Do some tests on your own to learn how it works. Find a tamini (centaur) archer, stay at 10m range and try to “dodge” his arrows. You’ll see how easy is in this game to avoid the damage if you make a perfect timing (however, the learning process will take some time).

Edit
If you are dying in groups and your groups are not is not because they are missing their support buttons, it’s because you are not effectively dodging the damage from the enemy skills. A guardian specially can use a wall that reflect projectiles, as example, in order to not recieve enemy ranged damage.

Not sure if this is the right thread to say it, but the major problem of why i don’t like pvp is because isn’t a complete deathmatch. It’s a team effort to capture things instead of a war to kill the other team before yours die. I’d love an Arena of 1vs1 deathmatch or something like that, with no teams.

Not going the wrong way, lol. Usual small drills indeed go in a different way because it’s intention is to make a hole. However, for bigger drills, such as the ones used by Scarlet here, are drilling in that directions because it’s intention is to move out all the dust and rocks inside. Once a rock is broken by the drill, the pieces are stuck in the drill and they slowly go up because of the direction of the spin, so it gets removed from the path and allows the drill itself to make a “tunnel”.

As usual, my english sucks, but i think you understand my point.

Or maybe we can get Christina a Taimi tonic, that she can use in battle. That would be awesome.

See, I don’t mind handing specific players something special. It’s okay to give one person special attention every now and then. Because that sort of thing completely makes someone’s day, and none of us lose anything over it.

However, Christina already said that loves to play a high movement proffesion, and well, Taimi is kinda slowish… for a fight.

However, a tonic to be Taimi for non-combat purpose it’s great if it was given to her.

What is your FPS in LA during zerg fight?

i got always 30+ FPS, playing with a 6 years old computer… way worst than yours.

5 Mbits wired connection.
IntelCore2 Q6600 4 cores 2.40Ghz
GT440 graphic card, 1GB
Windows 7 64-bit
3GB DDR2 RAM

Why i am getting no troubles? no idea, might be because i play always in very low graphics, i play in windowed mode, i customize my graphic card to priorize performing over quality in both games and computer… and it never works beyond the 60% of it’s capabilities even in zerking areas.
I do that since i burned out my previous graphic card and seriously, playing with less graphics but faster is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. It’s true that i can only see players if they are 10meters close to me in zergs, main reason of why i got always show name of players enabled, but that’s a minor problem since you can always see all enemies and attack them instead of being frozen in shiny colours.
I also got no skills delay or skill lag, just because i make sure i am not using random optional software that can eat up my computer or internet resources. As example, i never use an antivirus. I’ve been in the computers industry for over 20 years and although i was scared of viruses at the beggining, there has been 8 years since i got infected last time, and i fixed it myself; now you can even google how with your phone. Now it’s way too easier to not get it, just by clicking only on what you know it’s true and running an antivirus test each 60 days. But not having an antivirus protecting you in real time makes your computer goes 200% faster, usually, since they eat up way too mane resources validating every single file of the thousands that you use while playing.

The main problems in computers performance it’s almost 90% of the times overheating. Pick up a screw removing tool (how is this called in english? xD) and make sure your proccesor and graphic card fans have no dirt. Once that’s cleaned, plug in everything as it was and run a few tests. You’ll probably see an increase on performance. This is optional but it improves your computer’s life a lot. I’ve been 6 years with this computer and i only spent 100€ so far. Numbers don’t lie.

Why can an instance host be kicked?

I gotta be honest here, i hate Sellers of dungeons, i’m against it because they cheat their way through to get money and it sucks. However, Purple Miku is the only one player that made me wrong. He never cheats, he solo the stuff in a proffesional way, he don’t exploit enemies or use jump skips. I’m proud to say that i respect him, and he’s probably the 1% of the Arah sellers that really deserves to have fun and money if he wants to solo + make some gold with a dungeon.

So, that said: Hey purple, you might remember me, as we played together sometimes. If this happens again, add me and i’ll join your group really fast. That wasn’t cool, man.

By the way, since that player is from my server and i’m a known commander in there, i’ll contact the major guilds and try to make a punishment ^^. Payback is coming. Take care.

And a few more, could be easily added to the possible answers. Yes i’d take a lot of time but honestly i don’t think it could take more than just 1 person making up and adding all kind of possible answers to the scripts. Something generic is ok, but usually even if it has 0 impact in the reaction of the NPCs, we feel better if we give an answer that we feel ours.

Just my point of view as a proffesional novel writer. (Ironically, my english sucks).

You should label this as [Suggestion] in the title, or something like that. However, that could lead into unexpected bugs. As example, i don’t think the tech allows Anet to check for an specific bag item according to some coordinates or positioning. The way it’s now to use and port is the best way.
The kick is needed for those people that only have 1 use ticket but they logout inside. Nevertheless, i don’t see why someone would want to enter twice without moving to another map. I don’t see the point. If you enter, you can do everything that you need in 1 go, then you can go to another map, get materiales, whatever and then come back. For that purpose, the way it’s now is perfecet, but trying to enter twice without going to another map…? sorry, i don’t see how that could be useful.

People lost track of achievs because they start doing something before they check availible achievs. What i always do after an update is to check the list of achievements, read all of them slowly, understand what they could be and then… start having fun with the content. That way i can keep track of them from my memory ^^

they DO have a noticeable sound tiering up for 2-3 seconds before the hit… dodging them is really easy since there is no other sound in the game that sounds like that. It’s like if you try to absorb air to breathe really hard. (my english sucks xDD no idea how to explain it!)

If you remember correctly, the UFO had a portal when the marionette appeared. I believe scarlet will try to port away something that is below LA with the marionette chains. If that happens, i bet we could maybe join the trip somehow and fight somewhere else? that’ll be great.

PoI inside drill

A guy did get a bug and was able to run inside that ship. There is control pannels and platforms and what it looks to me like a battlezone. I guess we’ll fight something there in the next update, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense to put such details in the inner top area.

i actually never see the animations, but i “hear” it. I’m used to run aether path daily and the enemies inside drop that banners as well. You can clearly hear when they are doing it so you can dodge away. The sound is quite specific for that attack.

Actually it’s so specificic that i was in Lions Arch attack for the first time a few days ago and i didn’t know there was aetherblades in there, i didn’t pay attention at what i was killing and i was just zerging with 10-15 more players. Then i suddenly heard that sound… and my instincts made me Dodge. 4-5 players died and i was surprised at how i was able to avoid that hit just because i’m used to the sound.

It’s a touching moment for me, a sound that made a bound with me, the difference between dead or alive.

I noticed i could pick the same rubble 4-5 times in a day, just in different overflows. Each time gave me heirlooms i believe. The different ones are only needed for achiev as far as i know, since i had to do all different ones for that.

That’s a different thing. People reactions are based in how each of us are. So i guess some people will like it, some others will hate it, some others will ignore it and some others will just say “meh”.

To be fair the actual datamined information (I checked it myself in order to confirm its validity) doesn’t really say much at all though.

So claiming that people who have read this thread won’t be surprised seems quite premature.

It could be just fake information, i’m wondering that myself. And since this is the theorycrafting thread… here comes a Theory: Anet knowns for sure how the reddit community datamines a lot of information, so maybe they did put fake information in there to confuse the people. If that information is used or not in the game, even if we know about that, is yet to be confirmed.

If the datamined ending is correct… i can only say that we’re not gonna be surprised, it has been an accurate theory for months. Just wait for a week and we’ll see what happens. Nevertheless, i bet we’re gonna have more questions than answers.

In your opinion, since you appear to have seen the datamine, what would be the largest reaction from the community? I am actually curious what to expect when I get off work, since I’ll be starting work again next month.

If you actually did read this entire 15 pages thread… i’m sorry to say that you’ll get no surprise. I know i didn’t get a reaction at all, i expected something like that. However if you are really into gw2 lore and how the world changes, you might have hype for a few minutes after discovering what’s happening.

That’s i guess the problem about the theorycrafting theories. If someone actually finds the right guessing and you read it (and you believe it makes sense and will happen), the surprise feelings are gone when it actually happens and your reaction lacks of emotion.

Edit: What i can say for sure is that it’s all up about Anet. Knowing what is coming is interesting, however i’m honestly curious as how it’s delivered to us. If they give us a lot of information and details, animations, events, etc and it feels like really awesome… the ending of the LS might be incredible. However if the update will lack of answers, give us just the minimum information and the events doesn’t feel enough good… it’s gonna be a dissapointing ending.

Triple Threat/Triple Play

As far as i know, for triple play you don’t need the server to complete all the events, you just need to do all 3 by yourself in the same hour. So… you complete 1, move to next one, move to next one.

Yesterday in a random overflow i completed triple play, defense of fort marriner, defense of the postern warn and more achievements in same run.

What Builds do the Devs Run?

all warriors devs use bow? i think i made the best decission when i made my Main (and only character) a condition damage based warrior. I’m most of my time shotting arrows and areas, combos and more stuff. I’m happy for the last 6 months

However, i’m curious about the new changes we’ll see on 18th march. Will it make someone change their weapons or do you think it will just improve them? i’d feel dissapointed if i need to remove X weapon because now it’s useless.

The moas dissappear at the queen, they don’t die, it’s just finished when they get there. The event is easy if only 15 players are helping.

I “troll?” some maps with my commander tag. I put it on to get attention, once 4-5 players are together, i ask them nicely to done a non-zerg task that will get us rewards.

Most people ignore me and call me troll, but sometimes you get a group of new players that are actively doing something like rescuing the lighthouse npcs just for fun instead of zerging out the big masses of enemies in the north of LA.

It’s not a perfect answer, but a commander telling you what to do creates a missleading effect of “i should do what he says, he’s a commenr, he must know better than me”.
