I don’t do this path because I only do pug runs and it’s just way too daunting to pug this one. I don’t want to spend two hours in a dungeon and maybe not even finish.

Seen 3, won 1… The RNG is such a kitten and 2 weeks ago, a guildie that went there first time and said it wouldn’t come back because he only want the dungeon master tittle… won the greatsword of dreams… yet my luck in the last 50 runs was not getting even an exotic ^^

Why does no one like the Aetherpath?

-It’s not fun. Yes it’s
-Takes too long for the reward at the end. This one is true
-The ooze puzzle is annoying. This one is also true, yet it’s done in 30 seconds without even defending oozes, as long as the group learn how to NOT kill elementals and tank them away
-The electric tile puzzle is annoying. It’s really easy if you learn all 4 patterns
-The Sparki/Slick fight revolves around the stupid oozes again, so you don’t get killed by cheap pseudo-agony. This fight it’s awesome because it’s not a DPS race, you just need to control the battleground. Either clean all oil and survive, or just DPS and wipe. Slick does almost 0 damage to even balance the fight, so i don’t get how groups can even die there. All you need to do is to clean oil as priority if you got the blue buff, NOT dps and NOT rez :P
-The final boss is an amalgamation of all the annoying gimmicks in the dungeon. The final boss is all about positional awareness, and it’s one of the easiest fights in gw2 due to non-random attacks. All his attacks got an animation that you can see 3 seconds earlier… dying there is almost impossible, hence why Anet added the tiering up mechanism. That part is tricky, it’s challenging, and i accept it’s almost impossible for pugs, however this is the kind of fight that learns a learning curve, such as lupicus. Did u ever go to Lupicus in Arah with a group of 4 newbies? and you as well as newbie? If you survive that fight, would be after several attempts, several wipes, and after learning what all his skills do. Adaptation in mid-fight it’s great, but for some fights you just need to know what awaits you. I’ve done clockheart with groups and also soloed it about 30 times, he’s way too easy if you just try (again) to NOT DPS as priority. He will die eventually, with your random attacks, but the priority is to survive, and positional awareness there is the best thing that you can have. Melting clockheart is imo the worst thing that you could try with a group of non-experienced players.
-The Invasive Weed, a.k.a. Scarlet Briar, was involved in this. I’m so glad she’s dead. Even as a hologram, she’s annoying. This is one of the reasons why i go to the Aetherpath, slaughtering enemies and hearing her yelling “DEARHEART” to caithe in the background is priceless, plus i’d love how she introduce sparki and slick, i always hear “foggy and slick” somehow xD
-The Aether-mare weapons, the only real reason to do this path, are Nightmare weapons with a blue glow hidden behind RNG. This one is true, lame RNG makes the chance of obtaining them a pain.
-Did I mention it isn’t fun? To be fair, neither are the other dungeons/paths, but at least most of them can be finished quickly. Not this one. This one is fun once you learn how to solo clockheart and you struggle with him 20 minutes i’ve never felt so epic before in gw2 than the first time i did that. Go to Aetherpath for the fun, not for rewards!

Confirmed. My armour got nightmare runes (50% chance to reflect fear) and last day i was in range of the tier 30 attack since we screwed the holo nearby and well… on the first hit, my armour reflected fear and he didn’t hit with the other 4 lol. Was funny to see.

You need them to create Clovers, which is a big PAIN to get if you want to make a legendary. My advice is to save them for that. I had to buy 250 for my twilight. Won’t make same misstake again and now i save every mystic coin that i get

Today someone said to a friend in PvP that their entire team reported him for hacking. When we asked about it, they said that a guardian using mist was hacking (they obviously didn’t know about the Vampiric rune bonus that turns you into mist at 20%).

So…
1: what should we do in this scenario, just ignore them?
2: could a massive false report be problematic for my friend’s account? (in this case, 5 players).
3: is there any way to be safe with this? asking because he’s now thinking on changing his rune, although it works great for our team.

Because there is such thing called “selfish people to avoid”. Sadly we can’t get rid of them good luck next times.

I would suggest you to create your instances, that way 95% of groups that would kick, won’t do it.

I did it once and haven’t been back. I’d like to go finish the achievements but a bunch of them have to be done after the dungeon is technically sort of ALREADY FINISHED. So people who are experienced aren’t going to want to bother doing those parts, just hanging out in there even longer for no extra reward. That is what happened the one time I did it actually. Got to the “end” and half the group left. Seems like more trouble than its worth.

actually for doing above and beyond you get reward chest + you can go open 5 hidden chests

You don’t even need full group, it take 2 players to do it if they know how.

1 follow caithe. The other one kills captain and jump down to defend npcs. The one at caithe do ships when he finishes, then they 2 join in the Waypoint at 5:00. you only need 3:00 minutes or less to do chests… so they 2 together do chests. Piece of cake.

Hell the final boss of the path, you’re literally told to facerub him so he wont throw the gears at you.

Yeah… and not. After 175 runs, i only melee’d it once. The other times i had SO MUCH FUN in that fight spamming gears. It’s really enjoyable, running around, dodging the attacks. I would do a 5 hours fight against him in there! it’s epic.

All you need? Positional awareness, wich it highly improves the skill of any player. That fight is great to build up your positional awareness.

The chests are there, the bonus chest that is rewarded when you do all events can’t be obtained.

Sadly, it highly depends on your game area and friends. MMO games are social games and in most of them you’d need to play with a friend to have the feel of the games. I would suggest you to do the steps ahead and i hope that helps.

1: Find a guild or a friend, someone to play with as a new player without spoiler you about what comes next or what to do to skip X or Y.
2: Start another character in another town. There is no doubt that Human’s starting area (Queensdale) gets more attention and the 75% of the low population always goes there. If you are a charr, a sylvari or an asura, you are probably not finding kitten many people as you could if you started a human.
2.5: Just enter your town, find the purple asura portal, travel to the main hub in the game and then find the portal to Divinity reach, from there you can go to Queensdale with your guardian.
3: Eventually, you will notice that you are in a learning curve. So far you are level 18 but you have learned how to play the basics. In a game like this, most people don’t want to team up with players that don’t know how to play because they are slow, because of that, teaming usually happens after level 40-50, and it’s mandatory at lvl 80.
- Have patience, you are alone because you are in the single player events. You will get to the big group events with time.
4: Find the big zergs events, 50-100 players. I won’t suggest to be always doing those events, but once in a while they are refreshing. To get a list of those events you can go to http://www.gw2-eventos.tk as example. Sadly it doesn’t says where the events happens, but gw2 have a good community and if you ask something like this in the chat map: “hi, someone can tell me where behemoth appear?”. That’s an example, but i bet someone will lnk you out the place to go.
- There is 4 level 15 events, you will be able to go at least to 1 of them.

At higher levels, such as 80, you will find out that you are 95% with players, doing big events, dungeons or just party with them, you will probably find friends in the game and that’s what makes a MMO fun imo. You will also notice that you are changing your skills and traits for each fight, and most of the times you are playing with 30 skills in mind instead of just the 10 that you can see. You will start managing weapon swaps just to use a skill from another weapon and the fights will be more fun than now.

Finally i would like to recommend you to try out some other proffesions. Engineers are really fun to fight with because they got about 40-50 skills if you equip their utilities skills with kits of weapons. Each skill would replace your weapon and you would have 5 different skills from each set, quite challenging to remember but fun.

Take care! And don’t give up, the best stuff always happens at higher levels.

7 months later, i still go to Aetherpath daily It’s imo the most fun dungeon to go with a group, because you need coordination, teamwork and not just spam skill 1, like Magic said.

However, Anet just broke it with this update, and the event after final boss, the one where you need to destroy 3 ships… well, you can’t destroy 2 of them. I hope a fix comes soon, otherwise it’s game-breaking since you can’t efectively complete the achievements in there.

It happens with all the outfit potions. This is me after using a Quaggan potion in scarlet’s ship, when she attacked lions arch

This is a big bug since it stops players from getting the event donein Twilight Arbor Aetherpath, and of course, also the achievements.

The problem? 2 ships after the final boss are now impossible to hit. Every attack that i tried goes across them, and of course the granades needed to “blow them up” also goes through the ship until they explode into a wall.

How to fix it? I guess somehow those ships now got no physics or solid surface (i am sure i spelled that wrong in english). It was working until this update, so just give it back the “solid” state to the ships?

Today i went to The gates of Arah. As a new, there were about 20-30 players around, when the usual would be 3-4 players. The people was doing the events, the temples, etc…

- 3 players speaking in german
- 2 speaking in french
- 15 speaking in spanish
- 10 speaking in english

And then eventually someone asked: What server is this? And 5 different server names appeared into the chat…

Do you see the problem, Anet? The mega-server system is wonderful for english servers since everyone will team up with more people that understand them and can work together in the big events… but it’s a mess to small language-based servers. Not everyone in spain speaks english (actually probably a 10% or less), and not the french and german people do it as well, however we all are dumped into maps with people from every other language… and it’s not even an overflow.
Before the patch, we had for sure that we could depend on the people from the home server to do events since we could communicate with them and ask if they’re interested. But now even that is a challenge for non-english speakers.

Short story: I’d like to play with just 5 players that can follow my directions if i am doing a Temple event, than playing with 30 that can not and they’re confussed because nobody knows for sure what language would be the server one since now everything is mixed.

Bleh, i’m so… mad? that i can’t even explain the situation properly, i guess u get the idea.

Uhm, no idea about that one, i honestly didn’t tried that one since i only play Aetherpath in TA, and the video was recorded after a full Aetherpath run. The entrance would be in an area only accessible after clockheart died.

Challenges. You are removing yourself to face the most hardest challenges for a player in GW2. The champion trains are ok but you will never face a true challenge, that will only happen in dungeons.

I personally never do dungeons for the reasons above, i am 6 hours daily doing dungeons just becuase i find them fun and it’s challenging to fight some bosses without cheating, stacking, skipping or whatever :P

I was also random jumping around in TA (not gonna say what path or what way or how to get there) and i managed to get to “the end of the world”. Here there’s a video that I recorded about it.

Well, maybe i can say a bit:
1- To the players and Anet: The entrance to this place it’s after all final bosses or events are completed, so it can’t be used to glitch or skip or cheat in any way. It’s not an advantage and it helps nothing to go here, it’s just a random fun place i guess. We didn’t used special jumps or skills, so any proffesion can get there, but i’ll be happy to show Anet where to block the way if you are willing to.
2- To Anet: This video is private (nobody can find it without the link, won’t appear in search lists), in case there’s a problem with the footage, you can tell me and it will be removed ^^.
3- Also to Anet (just in case): I forgot to disable the chat, but none of the characters speaking in it (or in my group) were actually doing the same as i was doing except the charr, however, they did help me to complete the dungeon in a legit way. Me and the charr were just hanging around after final boss died when we found this.
3- To everyone: I don’t suggest to try this out, our characters were doing really weird weird weird things and when we tried to “exit the world” we became perma-flying, forcing us to go to a Teleport. In some places (just walking or standing around) we couldn’t teleport because i guess we were in a place not attached to teleports. I can guess if those 2 problems happens at same time by bad luck (perma-stuck + can’t teleport) you might get your character corrupted or broken or stuck forever. So… please, don’t try it out, you are warned :P

Anyway, it was fun for the day, i think i won’t try to get there again, is like a just for fun 1-time place that i wanted to share ^^.

- 1: I started the game in an NA server instead of an EU one. When i realized my misstake i already had a lvl 44 character that i had to delete to join the EU spanish server.
- 2: Still in the NA server, I found the “not so secret” puzzle before any of the other puzzles in the game and i tried to complete the diving googles jump in it with no training from other puzzles. “Only” took me 7 hours… 3 consecutive days.
- 3: I though being zerker was fun because everyone was doing it, big misstake there.

just did it jumping randomly across the center, no death. Learn how to aim while you fall? I noticed i had to press W a lot to fall into the water, if i recall correctly, i didnt had to do that before. Anyway i didn’t died.

What about…. all the enemies in the game turn into quaggans? Including giganticus quagganicus xD

I feel you man. I was once known as the second player worldwide to get the hardest title in LOTRO MMO, wich would take 6 consecutive months week after week without failing at the most hardcore raid and such elitist stuff.

However, that kind of stuff often get us burnout and we need to start fresh somewhere else. I realized that gw2 is a perfect place to adapt your mind to a “having fun instead of playing for rewards”. Takes some patience since there’ll always be players that try to force you to do X instead of Y, but if you have some patience, gw2 is great.

Not sure if i understood that right, but as it seems, the megaserver it’ll be a problem for the spanish server. Why? because we won’t be merged with other servers of the same language (there is none except Baruch’s Bay). That’s ok, the system will make no difference for us… or it will be?

What will happen if there’s enough people to trigger an overflow now? The overflow where we land will be only spoken by also spanish players? and in that case, the population might not be enough to do events.

As it was until now, our overflows were “ok” because there was always spanish, germans, frenchs, english players and a lot of people to play with for the big events. But if now the mega-server will make us land on language based overflows… it looks awkward.

I’m sorry if i understood that wrong. This thread is to seek for answers. Could anyone explain to me how it would work out for the spanish community?

Anyway, i love the new changes <3, No repair cost will indeed help a lot of players, and it’ll allow new players to take some more risks instead of being “afraid of the bill”.

My advice: join groups (or create them) with this words “no stacking, no skipping, no glitches”.

He specifically call me (not really big spoiler) a title that you get in your personal story, almost at the end. So… maybe that has something to do with it? I see you still need to kill zhaitan.

Edit: He’s also from the pact and speaks about how hard it was to come back… would make sense to only give that dialogue to people that helped the pact.

The best way to fight loneliness is relaxing music, walking around in the towns instead of fighting enemies in the ground and making some friends just by random chat discussions.

It might take practice, but making friends in an MMO works almost the same as real life.

Suggestion 2: If you find someone that wants to do the same stuff as you do, voice-chat is the key to keep the friendship in the needed level to last for months while playing.

Anet, you got the chance to deliver a way to not click 500 freaking times to open a full stack. Or click 250 times to buy all from vendors. Please address this problem in the incoming features patch… Don’t make people more angry for something that can be fixed.

I sadly understand why she did what she did, since i’m the same. I completely understand Scarlet’s motivations and i would probably had done the same if i was in her spot.

Why? because life’s unfair. Not everyone can get everything, not everyone can be happy, not everyone got a free pass to 1st world needs (or in scarlet situation, a free will, something was in her mind)… and people like us totally deserve to get the same as everyone else, so we fight our way in. How? Nobody knows. That’s the truth, it would look easy from outside but it’s a complete different path for every person… and sometimes you are so desperate that you try to break the fabric of reality, habits, rules, promises… just trying to find that “something” that would releas you free.

Scarlet was a brilliant creation, just not the kind that would be appreciated by everyone, since most people will never feel utter despair. I’m sad about the fact that i can’t even describe in english (properly) what i want to say :\

After 70+ fights with 50+ players in teamspeak getting their achievs, i can confirm how this work: First of all, breaking a rumour, the phase 2 attacks… NONE of them disqualify you for the achievement :P

The only damage that could disqualify you are the phase 1 laser scorchs on the ground (and due to a bad synchronized animation, the damage stays 2 seconds more after the scorch “dissapears”).
Phase 3 also have the same laser scorchs and you should be careful.

None of the little enemies attacks in phase 3 will break the achievement. And none also from the failed phase 2 if you happen to summon 18 enemies due to not killing all 3 holos at same time.

So… short story: only lasers and scorchs from Big central hologram.

No teamwork without the trinity? Try to do TA Aetherpath without teamwork… it’s impossible if your group doesn’t complete different roles at same time :P

Besides that, gw2 is pretty much a zerg, and that’s really bad. I personally think that Anet is making a step-forward trying to address that, but it’s a long way and we won’t see a perfect balanced system without a trinity soon.

The chest is great, you are just aiming for the wrong reward.

It happens that i’m actually after my first legendary and i needed 250 obsidian items… http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Obsidian_Shard …and the only way to get them is through an insane amount of Laurels or fractals currency or 500k karma. That’s TOO much imo, but then i noticed… every scarlet chest drops 3 obsidian items and i love that.

I did Scarlet 74 succesful times, enough to save me more than 450.000 karma! and i got 222/250 of the obsidian items needed to craft my legendary The chest is worth it every single time.
