(Sorry for broken english, not a native speaker)
The Issue
When I jumped off of a cliff, most of the time I was wondering after a few seconds “should press space already?” or “do I need to calculate when i need to press space to maximize height for glyding…?”.
Yes, the yellow button “press F to glyde” appears, but it appears like fading away and it’s confusing. Honestly, glyding is fun but starting to glyde was a bit annoying to say the less.
The suggestion
Make that your character automatically glydes as soon as it’s possible if you keep the spacebar pressed down. It will be easy, intuitive and we’ll appreciate that little detail.

I did like the concept and tested that. My experiencie was this:
I downloaded a 20% of the last patch and started playing thinking I could just play the content in the meantime, then I went to check the new shadow weapons and none of them had textures, they were invisible. I though that was ok and I wandered a bit around LA.
Something that I was wondering was how much files would I still need to download or when it’s finished, but then I dc’ed (it happens often to me, like 20 times per day. It’s a problem in my router) and the launcher was never able to download anything back again. It was giving me errors (maybe because I dc’ed while it was downloading something in the background) and I had to reboot the entire computer to make the launcher works again.
You might want to check that. Everything else was ok.
Suggestion: Add a percentage progression bar in-game to know how much of the game you still need to download. I would love to know if I downloaded a 70% or a 90% while playing without the need to exit the game and start the launcher.
The 900 patch that we did get 5 days ago and broke almost everything was to ADD the Demo from the pax to the actual live client (Confirmed because what we get in the mail to test the beta is that we won’t need to update anything).
So it’s likely you are speaking about the new adventures system. And it seems it’s working not as intended until the expansion on the old areas (I noticed also random ports in snowdrifts map).
I’d like to play the new WvsW map but my hopes are not into that
Sorry same question all over, but what would the Dutch/German times be?
Thanks in advance.

I’m in! I guess I’ll have to find spanish localization bugs muah ha ha (evil laugh).
The mail is a little bit confusing. It says that we must create a new human character for the stress test (I guess we can’t use our normal characters for it) and I assume it’s gonna be with our usual accounts.
Questions:
Edit: By the way, 1am-3am in Europe for the second stress test… Might be a little bit too late for some of us
Another Question:
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Tsumake: That error message seems odd. The only thing I can imagine is one of your registry values being misconfigured. Are you running 32-bit or 64-bit windows? If you are unsure you can follow the steps here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/find-out-32-or-64-bit
amis: Where specifically does it freeze? Could you screenshot it? There is an issue that went out today that would cause the installer to freeze. We’re working on fixing that, but you should not run into that if you renamed the installer. Patching also seems to have been a bit of a roller-coaster today, so could you try again?
Johan, I don’t think they will answer… their posts are from years ago…
They fixed 2 bugs with the last patch, some server crash and the vendor bug…that’s it?
Fixing stuff takes time. It’s good enough that Anet is working on them. For the meantime, while they fix the others, we don’t have to deal with the vendor’s bug. Isn’t that better than waiting until they finally fix all of them?
Let me see if I understood this correctly. Someone could submit an APP now even if it’s nowhere near finished, get the RIG headset and then keep working on the APP for 59 more days to make it awesome and update it before the contest ends?
And in that case, the previously submitted APP version wouldn’t matter at all to make the final decission since it would be only taken as valid the last update? Or would it change anything and would be an stupid idea to submit a half-developed APP before the contest ends?
On top of that questions, there’s the fear that others could steal other programmer’s ideas and develop a better version of your APP in less time due to programming skills (As example, i’m learning javascript and CSS coding while programming. For me to create an APP it’s more time consuming and someone with the same idea could do it faster/better).
We need some clarification, Stephane

-StreamingClient does not work. Had to download entire patch in order to play the game.
It did work for me. Playing at 25%. But once inside, I couldn’t know how much of the download was done, and it was unintuitive to check when it did finished, so I disabled it.
Bugs from the spanish forum (we got some specific ones due to translation strings missing):
We work on EU as well. =)
Oh, but I usually don’t turn off my invis there because I know about 10 words of ES, 20 FR, and maybe 4 DE.
No Habla en Francais or… uhh.. German. Or uhh.. yeah. Le Pomme est Rouge.
“No hablo español.” – Save that one to say that you don’t speak spanish haha.
Edit: Actually you can say “espaniol” since your keyboard won’t have the ñ letter.
It’s understandable that you do that, however most people around here actually speaks english and would have no issues about speaking with you in english. Anyway i’m happy to know that you guys can travel across servers from NA and EU. Will remember that if I ever find a hacker again.
Take care, we appreciate your work.
P.S. If you ever need a translator and i’m online, I wouldn’t mind to help.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
There was a hacking player in the European servers 2 nights ago. I told the commanders to contact you if they see them again (noticed your signature).
No idea if they did, but the question is: Are you able to go teleport to european servers or it’s only a NA thing?
Quite impressive.
If you find good players they can carry you pretty easily.
I seen pug pretty much 3 man the ooze fire room. Or 2 man the last boss when 3 of us are on the ground in 2 minutes. There is also the guy who pretty much did the electric room without getting hit once.
Obviously there is also the time where group just fall apart and everyone quit before the dungeon end.
And people that we soloed the entire path, except the electricity room because it needs the 4 platforms to be used
Aetherpath is quite easy as long as you have the brain to think “oh, there is mechanics in the fight, I should not only attack”. And of course, you need the time to learn those mechanics, not to expect to faceroll the dungeon in 20 minutes; that would be ridiculous.
The other paths, I honestly find them harder (because i did run them twice, as opposing to 450 aether runs) and I believe the OP is talking about them. If you never donde Up and Forward and nobody tells you what to do, you can’t adapt in mid-fight, it’s too punishing.
Now i need to wait even longer… This is just absurd.
Posts like these keep the devs as quiet as they are. Thankfully more players seem to be understanding. It’s software development: it happens, it’s fine. :} I’m disappointed but hopefully wed/thu of this week is a possibility despite ANet’s propensity to release on Tuesdays.
I’m giving constructive criticism. How could it make anet keep quiet? They hyped the FoV so much, and then just postpone it. I said what i felt about it. No anet wont release a patch on any other day then tuesdays. I’ve been playing guild wars 2 for 2.7 years and they never released anything on wednesdays or thursdays.
Some of us feel that way, but honestly, if everyone would criticize them for giving info to hype and then postponed it, what Anet would do is to not give us more info to hype (as happened in the past). I don’t want that to happen because i’m more happy when I got some info (even if i don’t know where it will land) than having no info at all.
Yesterday I saw a “lvl 49 Volcanic boss, need a miracle”. There were 4 guardians in that group
I guess someone might have a legendary with no ascended…
BTW I had 2 legendaries (twilight + kudzu) before I did have any ascended gear (excluding full jewelry).

I’ve seen Necros do more damage that most average players on other classes (not uber ones, of course) but they use berserker builds with daggers <3, not conditions. You should give that a try (a serious not-laughing or being skeptical try), it may surprise you (like it did with me).
I just sort of wish they have an “E Z Mode” for people like me.
I wish they also have a “hardcore Mode” for people like me, as well. I don’t like easy stuff (where easy means less than 30 minutes) xD.
My advice for Vistas, Gaile: Just try it like if nothing in the world matters. Jump near the cliff, run as fast as possible near the slippery rocks, etc. You are pixels after all! by not being in fear of falling and trying in a reckless way you actually develop the skill to not fall because you push yourself to your limits and knows exactly where to stop. Obviously this strategy takes a while to master, but once you do that, there is no game (or vista, or puzzle, or dungeon, or….) in the world able to stop you
(Hope it helps, it surely did for me).
the room is entire clear for a few second once someone step on the plateform.
you can just tell the person to stay out first and rush to the plateform during that down time.
This (and it’s 2 seconds).
For the OP’s question, well the platforms don’t seems to have path coding. If an hologram is in the platform or near it (touching it a bit) you can’t Fear him, pull, knocback, etc. They seems rooted on the ground unless they move on their own. Has been that way for at least 1 year.
:( you ruined the fun. I wanted to have hype for a secret update on tuesday where we need to fight against golems all around tyria. It sucks that it won’t happen.
I like this thread.
I guess that’s me. Ended up talking about my gaming experience more than my real-life experience :\ meh, let’s fix that.
Ok that’s better have fun.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Well, all I can say is that I see this question pop up on the forums and reddit frequently.
In contrast, I don’t remember a single instance of a new player being confused by seeing these icons on the map, pre-NPE.
I’ll leave it to you to draw any conclusions.
Agree with you.
Here are 3 spanish examples of people confused because of this. Considering that the spanish population is less than a 10% of the players… you should put it back how it should soon.
Something that i’d like (but i don’t know if you guys want or can provide) is an API for enemies information such as:
This information could be used to understand a fight better than guessing, which is a problem sometimes.
Is there really such a thing? Why would you lock everything down? The fun of a MMO at first is exploring. Even the day I bought the game I had no problems at all navigating the world map even with the “icon overload”.
Nobody did, but that’s one of those things that weren’t broken but Anet fixed. I’m really tired now of telling people “is not a buuuuuuug” in the spanish forum (which looks like a dev desert because only the community manager speaks there, and only in 1 each 50 threads asking for help).
Anet, please, put it back like it used to be.
My plan is to create an initial report on what people have been saying up to now that I will present to the ANet staff, and then based on their feedback to that initial report I will have “mini CDI-like topics” where we discuss all of the issues regarding certain key topics for the community, like challenging instanced PvE content in Fractals, for example.
If they let you go ahead with your plan, i’ll be happy. Encounters like the marionette would be epic fun for a fractal of 5 players. I also hope they get a new dungeons developer team some day.
Grats on your position.
If you have the time to get to level 50 fractal, which takes more or less 50 days if you do 1 fractal per day (or at least 50 hours if you do them 1 by 1 with pugs groups)… I bet you have enough time to farm for ascended items.
You just don’t want to, but hey, that’s your choice. If you don’t want to work hard for it, then don’t go to fractal lvl 50, nobody is forcing you to go there, you can just stay in pvp or whatever.
Question, it drops from final boss chest or can it drop on any enemy/trash mob, etc?
If the players wouldn’t want raid with roles and such… Tequatl wouldn’t die every single time. The torrets wouldn’t be used and the people wouldn’t take that role.
It’s working and it’s working flawlessly almost all the time. The reason that it does work is because the reward is good enough. If Anet put something like my examples (remember that were only examples, and it could be just 1, not 3 of them in a fight) and they add a good reward, i can guarantee you that it will work. And I bet my account on that.
I have just done an Aether with the same group as usual, we’ve done 400 aethers and we likely never seen Of dreams drops (maybe 1 or 2), but today 2 of them (short bow and shield) dropped in the same run. Was it luck the drop has been improved?
The noobinesh level of the answers dissapoint me a little. Teleports for that room are highly broken and you will mostly lose the achievement until you can finally make it right.
The easiers way are:
Good luck.
Also, there’s no raids.
There is no raids yet.
This is what Mike or Colin said in the PAX: New challenges way beyond anything you have faced before. Also the ultimate group challenge.
Yeah, they didn’t said the magic word, but I could easily expect something like raids with that statement.
This is what I think that masteries could be and I would love:
Example of a Raid Boss mechanics
Imagine this is an instanced raid for 15 players and there’s an enemy boss.
Choose your role – pre-fight group management
With that 3 examples in mind, now let’s say Anet forces us to choose only 1 mastery skill at a time. You will need the green feedback but you will also need the areas to buff players so they can deal damage. Right? And what about the poison? You can’t do it all by yourself! You need a group of friends for it. Lucky for you, that won’t be a problem at all, there is 15 players in the place and you only need some to complete an special task.
You could choose 3 players for the task of curing poison (just in case they get it themselves as well or any of them dies), 2 players for the green feedback to avoid the wipe, and at least 4 for the buff area that will allow other players to deal damage.
Pros on this system
Final thoughs
Later on I did read that masteries could be like WvsW buffs and I was really dissapointing because I interpretated masteries like the examples above.
What do you guys think about? Am I too far from what masteries will be? Colin, i’m also asking you! haha
(edited by Elrey.5472)
No, it is not as complex as you suggest. With the amount of people in each lane by the time of an encounter, it takes all of a second to resurrect a downed player if more than one person is nearby, and oh lookie here; fancy each encounter encouraging groups of players to stick close together via the mechanics built into said encounters.
Cut off the source of your issues and they cease to exist. Be proactive rather than watch someone bleed out on the floor.
Think, then post, or even -attempt- to point out why a ‘dps race’ like this is so complex, since there’s is absolutely nothing complex about a dps race. Use the god kitten built in game mechanics to help each other through an encounter.
100% agree with suggestions on auto-release within a minute.
have you ever try to rez dead people in poison aoe on the second boss ? i try sometime and die realy fast. So yes it is complex depending of the boss and the mechanic of him. If you dont kill pustule then they explose in large poison aoe and kill poeple but you need people to kill pustule and die because of rez dead player lead to more dead player and less pustule killed …
That we said from the begin is that depending of the event, boss mechanic and other situation rez is not even possible
Have you tried to rez someone in the Beekeeper? A guildie died today and i was rezzing him alone (yay for the zerg ignoring that). When I had him at 70% the troll did run to the wall and I went to hide behind the honeycomb (because otherwise i would die). Then the laser hits the room, i’m alive and i go back to rez my friend. He’s now at 5% health and not 70%.
Took me a few seconds to realize that. What just happened? The laser actually makes totally dead players (not downed) lose rezzing progression, so even Anet is discouraging rezzing in that fight…
Going back to the topic, this was an issue in the marionette and it’s an issue here again because it runs on a timer. If Anet removes the freaking timer from the fight and just make the boss fight a Kill or get Killed fight, then it would be different. Of course it would have to be adjusted so the enemy can kill 30 players, not only 7-8 like they would now (poison). In the marionette the fights were that way. It was either the players killed their champ or the champ killed them, it wasn’t uncommon to see a totally wiped room.
I wouldn’t see an issue with the timer removed since it’s a closed room. As soon as every player died the event would continue, or as soon as the boss dies.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
It’s discouraging how people is assuming that we failed because me or other players were bad. Let’s say you have 20 players in the room and 15 goes afk. The 5 of you remaining do your best and try to kill the boss, maybe deal a 40% damage but in the end you fail. It’s fault of those 5 that were alive and fighting? Apparently from this forums answers, yes it’s. Can’t you see how wrong that statement is? The other 15 afk players upscaled the event and made it harder for the ones actually fighting. Keep reading to see why i can confirm that.
And ok, I accept that make that option availible only to commanders might be a bad idea, i was naive enough to think that there is good commanders trying to lead the events to suceed instead of trolling and trying to break it down to bother others.
Besides that, and here comes the tricky part of the post, and why i’m suggesting such thing: I’m not making this suggestion out of the blind area of the doubt “it’s upscaled or not?” where almost everyone seems to live. I’ve seen lot of data from reddit, youtube and other places about experiments with illegal dpsmeters. Most of you probably knows about them but most players refuses to talk about it. Well, in such experiments they use 3rd party tools like dpsmeters and trackers to see how much health the enemies have. Those programas don’t make up those numbers, they actually access the game data to extract the exact number of the enemies health, as shown for example in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJND8fN7beU
If you understand that so far, you need to understand that there’s also some trackers that shows exactly how many players are in a range of 10.000 (game metric) in the fight and how much health the enemy got at the same time, making easy to check when an event upscales or downscales.
Tequatl upscales and gets 510.000 more health for each player joining the fight. You can also check how the event downscales when the number of players is less than that. If there is 50 players, Tequatl gots 25 millions of health more or less, if there is 128 players, he gots 64 millions. After watching over and over some videos I noticed that it DON’T downscales with people totally dead around, hence some of the points that you guys posted are sadly not valid (I encourage you to find solid data that proves me wrong). The event, at least Tequatl health, only downscales when those that were dead did port to Waypoint. I guess this is a gray area and that’s why it isn’t in the wiki.
Notice that this post information is based on what i’ve seen in youtube so far. Can’t 100% confirm that the displayed information in those videos it’s true or false.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Abuseable? yeah… only if you play bad and you die. As i said, you can actively avoid being warped just by not dying ^^
no… I stay because I want to get the reward, because I also participated in the fight, if I make a mistake and die… well I still want to get the reward
But you get the same reward if you go to WP. That’s what people never understands, and also what i don’t get when someone tries to say why they don’t WP back. You only get no reward if you disconnects or change maps, but if you are in the same map, you get reward no matter where you are.
I vote that you be the guinea pig, so people can do this to just you for oh, a year or so.
We’ll get the next round of feedback this time next year, Kay?
I’m ok with that. I don’t see any issue with the suggestion and i’d like to help.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Abuseable? yeah… only if you play bad and you die. As i said, you can actively avoid being warped just by not dying. Yes, i understand that not everyone is a good player, but i feel that we should encourage them to improve instead of making the game “easier” for them so much that they don’t even try to improve.
Alternatively, this “feature” could be added to specific areas. As example the vinewraith above, or tequatl. In both scenarios you can dodge/block every attack, believe me, i usually command Tequatl and even at his claw it’s easy to telegraph what he’s gonna do and how to avoid getting damage. The same thing applies to vinewraith bosses. And even if you do a little bit bad, you can be rezzed when you get Downed. But if you completely die after the downed phase, then it’s time for you to waypoint in those 2 places.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Today i was in a silverwastes map where the vinewraith failed. Why it failed? Same old story, a lot of people were completely dead in the center room, upscaling the event and making it hard for everyone else. Some people told them in map chat to do it and they still didn’t waypoint back. It was frustrating and we eventually failed with a map full of players. I couldn’t believe it.
However, speaking with another player about that, he told me “i wish i could kill them again” and a smile crossed my face. Why not? I believe that we, as players, should be able to “finish” totally dead players and send them back to the nearest Waypoint. That should be enough.
Of course it would not be the usual thing to do, but it wouldn’t either be a big problem because you can actively avoid being warped to WP, all you need to do is not to die.
We often see players that are AFK, they die, you revive them but they stay AFK and die again. That player it’s upscaling the event and making it worse for us. I understand why the game allows that. The computers scripts can’t accurately know when are we going to revive someone or it’s a problem for us, however, we as players can decide that. We make our battlefield choices and we could efficiently move out of the fight someone that is not welcome because it’s not helping.
As final though, I believe that it would encourage players to play better and improve, because they would not want to die. That’s the main goal in the game, but right now dying is so mainstream and unpunishing that it’s getting too much common.
To avoid potential trolling, maybe the “finish him” option should only be availible to commanders. They can easily waypoint back 3-4 players (I hope with no long induction time) and fix a fight that otherwise could be lost.
What do you think?
(edited by Elrey.5472)
Event done 8 times, I got 7 coats.
I’d say the RNG is not that punishing as other times with this. However is incredible discouraging with the eyeballs and the kidneys. Your complaint should be against that ones.
Yeah, boss sounds terrible.
+1
Ok i’ll explain my thoughs in 2 parts.
Will the scripts that enable final boss fight works if you skip electricity puzzle? No idea, but the workaround to get to clockheart from the skip point is like 10 minutes long. Not worth it.
(Anet, feel free to edit this post to not shown problematic information if needed. Sorry, i’m not sure how much of what I said follows the forum rules or Terms of Agreement).
(edited by Elrey.5472)
I never had a favourite Dev until now. Lisa, you deserved it ^^.
Since i soloed this room with my warrior (and sublimatio seems to had done it with a mesmer) no change is needed. You just need people to know what to do.
Mesmers and guards? seriously? if you need that for the ooze room i’d suggest you to re-learn your proffesions. As a warrior, one of the most useful CCs for this room is the 4 from bow that causes blindness on area, allowing me to make the attacks of 3-4 elementals don’t hit ooze, you just need timing.
I also agree with what Saint said. Those who doesn’t like the DPS meta, we really enjoy the ooze room
That said, what jockum and chochobo said is the most easier strategy, just 2 players join and move all elementals to the end, and then 2 more join the room and move oozes. You don’t need to defend, no need to fight, it’s piece of cake. Just make sure you kill elementals more or less when oozes have done half of the path or the eles will go and attack it because of proximity.
Allisa, the room itself is learnt in about 30 minutes if you speak with your own group of players. I really hate when nobody speaks in dungeons and i’m fighting with “that guy in there”. It’s why i don’t do CoF anymore, nobody ever says anything and they just run to end the path fast. That doesn’t feel like a dungeon, that’s a joke. I love when people have names and they share their thoughs, it creates a bound with players, and because of that Aether is a really nice place.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
I Duo’d Aetherpath long ago except for the electricity room, where you need to find 4 players no matter what.
My friend and I found a bug that moves you out of the map so you can skip the electricity room, but that’s cheating so we never took advantage of it and never could do it just 2 of us, had to invite 2 more guildies for the electricity room.
What we did so far so it’s possible is:
That said, electricity room mechanics makes it hard to try with 3 players. I don’t think minis/clones/pets/minions will trigger platforms, and teleports won’t work since you need to have the 4 platforms active for at least 10 seconds. You can pull the holograms with skills like thiefs wire or you can fear them, but only if they are not stepping into or near platforms, since that makes them stuck.
Good luck.
(edited by Elrey.5472)
This would be easier to integrate into the Preview panel. I don’t think most people need to see the option in their UI, but a chatline command like “/preview charactername” should do the trick.
I’d rather to have it on a dropdown menu.
+1 good idea.
It’s easy. Managed to organize it and kill it. The only possible problem it’s on 2nd boss. When he moves away, you must FOLLOW him and enter a white semi-circled area, otherwise it stuns you and eventually kills you.
What bothers me is:
Evan gave u the best answer. If you can’t track your damage with the chat log, i’m afraid you can’t track your dps in GW2.
We understand that is not your desired answer, but that’s the answer. Same as you can’t track that, nobody else is able to track that, so you are not in disadventage. The thread should be over, no need to bump like Shadelang said.
Almost exactly what the OP says happened to a friend a few days ago, but it ended differently. I was actually in the same group and noticed how my friend made some fails, so I was expecting the toxic community to step up. As soon as I saw the “kick” option appear on my friend, I right-clicked on the one requesting it and told my friend on teamspeak really quick to Accept.
Result: The “kicker” was kicked from the dungeon. The other guys didn’t know him, i guess, or they didn’t care, since he wasn’t invited again. We killed final boss the 4 of us and finished the fractal ^^. Then i explained to my friend what actually happened and he was happy that i went there with him (he was a newbie in fractals, just level 3 of fractals reward). Then he said he is now scared to join more fractals in case anyone tries to kick him. THAT feeling is what i hate of the gw2 toxic community <3.
He sent me a whisper a few minutes later asking why. My only answer was “karma”. I hope that teaches him a lesson.
