i find the 4th one the easiest one, however it’s really looong and there is a lot of fights in there. Nevertheless, if the group can manage to kill melandru boss (1 person kite gorillas and the other 4 just stack in a safe spot and range) that path is really easy (until dwayna, where you can start praying the gods for dps). However, i find dwayna just long and easier than Alphard. It also seems that Lupicus is easier in path 4 (i never get why, but it seems his areas in phase 2 are Way toooo much less dangerous in path 4).
Just my thoughs/experiences.
Live and learn. Die and learn faster.
GW2 is an mmo where dying is not really a bad thing. Yes, you lose a bit of money and you need to go back to the place where you were, but honestly is not as bad as would be in any other MMO, You’ll die thousands of times in this game, it’s better that you’re getting used to it.
Nevertheless, you can avoid dying in the landscape almost all the time by analizyng everything around you before you join a fight.
1: Target enemy and check his level and special skills at the top center of the screen. If he’s above your level, you must expect damage above the usual. If the skills says “he immobilizes” then you must be ready to heal or kill faster because you might not be able to run away. (or cure inmmobilize, but that’s too advanced for your level).
2: Is the enemy holding a bow? then he probably shots you. Is he holding a staff? then expect magic attacks. Is he holding a sword? you can immobilize him and laugh.
3: Did you check out where did you came from? Aren’t enemies there? Cool, if the enemy is stronger than you, you can just run back to a known safe place.
4: Is there any player around? Is he doing the same as you are doing? Great, GW2 isn’t competitive, you are suggested to work with someone. Instead of killing different enemies, join that guy and kill the same enemies, you 2 will get the same rewards.
5: You are level 5, seriously you didn’t expect to die until you learned how to play properly? It takes way more time to realize what enemies can do, how to avoid problems, find the skills that better suits you, find the weapon that better adapts to your playstyle, etc etc. The point of having levels it’s that is a learning process. Once you are lvl 80 you’ll probably never die, until that you are still learning how to survive, take it easy.
6: You can dodge the 99% of the enemies skills in the game with a dodge. A dodge can be done pressing the same skill twice really fast (WW, SS, AA, EE, QQ etc). If you can time when you’ll get hit, you can avoid it. As a training i suggest you to find an archer enemy, stand at 20 meters away, wait for enemy to shot arrows and try to dodge them. The game use physics, so you can dodge or just move out of the arrow range. Once you master that you could try to dodge melee skills, which is harder to do.

An endline date to complete achievements would be great to know, indeed.
tips:
1; dont be in the lane killing chain 5.
2: as soon as you get in the right side the “event completed”, go and /cheer.
I’m out of business for this week due to marionette mch FUN. Ask me on monday!
Baruch bay did killed her 6 times yesterday, 1 on patch night and still 0 today.
Well, the Marionette is a weapons test by Scarlet. It wouldn’t make much sense for her to keep testing the weapon after we’re done with this story arc would it?
I’m sure we’ll get more content that explores these types of mechanics
I think scarlet is trying to test the big drill that it’s above the marionette. And the marionette itself is a defense to prevent anyone to destroy it. If that makes sense, the marionette is already tested and working and it’s in it’s final phase.
Apparently this thread was closed with a warning to my account because it had the word “petititon” into it. I’m told in the warning to re-create the same thread with the same words “as a suggestion”, so here it’s. However i did not remember to ask anyone to sign this
Petition threads tend to cause overly strong inflammatory and emotional responses, and derail easily. You are also welcome to re-post as a suggestion and discussion, instead of asking people to /sign a post.
Anyway, everyone: keep the thread out of derail or emotional responses or inflammatory or that stuff, otherwise we’ll get the thread deleted again
.
After killing the marionette for 4th time today… i was thinking about it’s purpose. It’s just a 2 weeks piece of content? well, then instead of keeping the wurm up and removing the marionette in 2 weeks (as rumoured), we should keep the marionette up (and optional: remove wurms?).
Reasons:
- It’s easy enough to understand by a newbie, yet challenging.
- It’s really fun/replayable since you can only fight 1 of the champions/chains per run (unless a group fails and you are in groups 1-2-3). That makes you wonder how are the other champions and try to see them.
- It’s a big awesome fight that makes players use teamwork and use 5 commanders, giving it some use.
However, the rewards should be adapted.
I am not sure about this but i “think” that most players will choose the marionette over the wurms, and we would like to have the permanent marionette to kill it in our world events rotation.
Any thoughs?
(edited by Elrey.5472)
skip? lol no, i just got it and i did it before the cutscene appears, as Ryu said.
After asking politely, it died for us
It was close though. As you can check http://i43.tinypic.com/2mfmcr8.jpg (in the last picture that i took before the win) we were close to fill up the cannon However it died and now we’re a happy server.

Think of it this way: Between the embers and whistle, those items were effectively doubling/tripling the amount of players active in a map.
Then a necro with a lot of summons is preventing 5-6 players to join that map if it’s full?
We just wiped in the 3rd chain champions, the big ones that spin around and kill players. We will try to Range them, however it’ll be great if someone can tell us how to kill 4rd and 5th.
I guess this can encourage other players to go and help in the event, since the usual wipe in this place is to not have enough people due to Full map (and new people is moved to overflows). If there is some groups doing another stuff around instead of killing this machine they’re kinda blocking access to the map to the ones willing to go and kill this big machine.
So… let’s call it karma. Not helping? dead xD.
(I know, not fair, but i can’t think in anything else of why this happens)
I was on an overflow from EBay and we got to the 5th portal boss set. It starts with 1 relatively easy champ which we dropped in seconds, then it spawned 2. Then 3 or 4 which we also killed. Timer ran out and there were 5 or 6 of them running around the platform. I can’t speak for all the other platforms but when I looked near the end of the timer, the other platforms were all wiped. I’m not convinced DPS is the solution here since we were dropping the champs pretty quickly and it just wasn’t enough.
Edit: EBay just completed it and I was stuck in an overflow! Turns out the solution is just DPS.
So… 5th set of enemies is actually 5-6 champs?
Anet thinking way ahead to avoid exploiters? that’s a new xD
The Champ affixes are based on the Chain Phase, not Lane.
The First Chain, Phase will always be the front immune champion, the second will always be the spinning Champion, and so on.
That makes sense, thanks for the tip. Any idea what the chain 3-4-5 champs are/do?
I haven’t had a chance to attempt Phase 3 onwards yet, as either Phase 2 is way to over tuned for what it is, or people are just that bad at kiting a slow moving mob into big glowing red circles.
I’m not kidding when I say that my platform is usually the first, and often times only, platform to complete the phase because I’m the one doing the kiting. And since there’s no way for me to help other players kite theirs, there’s not much I can do other than yell at them to stop being horrible at kiting.
Same happened to me, i was watching how the guys in the platform next to me kept running away randomly like little girls with a bee in the back…

A side-effect of the marinette world event not killed in time.
And have the players spread out evenly across all paths, I see so many stack at the PvE commanders.. Have a player check before the 5min timer is up so there is a good even number on all sides. And WP if/when dead, but that should be a given tbh.
Yeah we were in an overflow server giving good directions each 2-3 minutes. We destroyed 1 chain, the failed 2, then destroyed 2 more, then 2 more chains failed and then wipe. This is why now i’m trying to research about champs special skills in the paths that i did not do, because not knowing how to deal with them it’s what wiped us.
Preparation: We need 25 players on each path, at least (to have 5 in each room in phase 2).
Phase 1: We need to defend the red portals in all 5 paths. Keep preventing enemies to reach the portals or the fail bar is filled slowly. You can use the robot near portal with skill 2 to fire up all enemies nearby the portal as last stand. When one of the portals becomes availible (order is from bottom to top one), that path players enter phase 2, the other paths will still be fighting still in phase 1.
Phase 2: The entire phase 2 lasts 90 seconds only. ALL the players in the open portal path must enter the portal, you’ll be spread into 5 rooms with a champion enemy. Kill the champion AND destroy the generator quickly after that. Each chain champions are different and i got covered a few of them.
-1st chain champs can’t be hit from the front. Someone tank and others hit in the back.
-2nd chain champs are inmune to damage unless we move them to Mines that they drop, that stuns them and we can hit.
-3rd chain are big nightmare enemies that spins around. They can 1shot people if too close.
-4th champ are doggies that never move from center and they make big area attacks. Move away from all areas.
-5th champ split into 4-5 enemies, you need to group them up and kill them faster together.
-I still need to check all other 3 champs, any help to fill this section?
If phase 2 fails, the fail bar is filled a 25% (allowing you 3 fails). If you suceed, 1 chain is broken. Once phase 2 is done, that path group goes back to defense and another different path is open to complete their own phase 2.
Final Thoughs
We think this is over when all 5 paths suceed the phase 2, destroying the chains 1 by 1. However, it seems that a path might just fail and then another path can complete their side twice in order to destroy all chains. That i’ll work since you need to destroy just 5 chains but you are allowed to have 3 fails attempts. (8 fights to destory chains if no enemies fill the fail bar and defending is done perfectly).

Each 2 hours it appears, use this in chat.

Failed in baruch bay as well, however we had 2 chains down and 4/5 of the other things inside the circles near the boss.
For not so secret, if you are in the chest you can just jump to the ground near the pipe. If you are though speaking about not so secret glasses, the way down for a mesmer is so hard that it’s not worth to try to go down for a portal.
Skipping stones is the one in the karka’s land? i think you can jump from the broken ship after the stone paths.
Go to the character selection screen and then hit the Change server button at the bottom left corner. That way you can check it.
You have one of the characters in the sylvari home area. Although i know nothing about mumble or the APIs of gw2, i think i did read somewhere that you couldn’t check in wich level the character was. Positioning of altitude was a problem and could mess up some stuff. (sorry about my broken english).
Try to search more info about that, maybe the altittude is a problem since the sylvari home place have so many different levels.
Is not bugged, you are suppose to use 2-3 colling rods, not only 1. However, since most proffesions can do it with just 1 rod, getting the 2nd one seems an useless waste of time.
The colling rods are:
1- In the NorthEast side of the electricity torrets room (South).
2- After you kill the Ooze boss in the NorthEast.
3- I don’t remember
Some tips to do this with just 1 rod is:
-Get speed buff.
-Press skill 1 a lot of times (2-3 times per second) while running inside the fire room.
-Dodge as much as possible, a dodge here is really nice since you move forward a lot.
-Use heal skills with no induction.
-If you got downed, no worries at all, just self-rez and continue.
Good luck. Either you try with 1 rod and that tricks or you just go and get the 2nd and 3rd cooling rods.
http://www.gw2build.com/ however a re-balance is expected in 3 days with an update to the game, it has been confirmed a 10% critical damage reduction and more other skills changes so… not sure how much u can trust actual builds.
Well, the game got their different words for it but the standards are around. Guardians are usually tanks, but almost every class could do it as well, as same as happens to healers. As glass cannon builds there is one big famous “zerker” class, wich is berzerkers to do big insane damage but they need to trust into dodges and blocks to survive instead of a big pool of health.
You’ll have to test wich build you like most, since this game features “dodge”. A dodge can literally block any damage from the game, even instakill hits from enemies to conditions or areas. A dodge can be easily triggered by pushing W twice (or A, D, S, Q, E…) As long as you time it perfectly, a dodge can save you from all damage.
Notice that dodges consumes stamina, a yellow little bar above your health… so you need to try yourself if you can time the enemy skills to dodge them. If you can’t then get a little more health, if you can dodge then you can get a build with a little bit more dps. You get it, right?
Magic dps class in here it’s likely the elementalist. There’s also a necromancer but it’s not in such a good shape as elementalist and seems harder to master with a perfect build. Anyway, as i just said, it’s almost as important (or more) the weapon that you are using than the class that you are using, since it determines your skills.
About servers, just choose 1 and if you don’t like it you can just delete your character and try another server (as long as your account has 0 character, transfering to another server is free).
P.S. I never roleplay either, but there’s only 1 spanish server, so i didn’t have a choice to wich server to choose when i bough the game xD
1: no idea how much time, maybe months…
2: prime time? as long as you create a character you can always play there, there is no queues at all to “play” as far as i know.
3: Yes… but the cost it’ll be really high. Transferring to another server permanently isn’t cheap. The price is set up based on the population, for example to very high server the prices used to be 2100 gems, and 2100 gems are like 250gold. With so many gold you can buy a legendary. You can also buy gems with real world money, but then it will be also expensive.
4: If you have friends in a server, choose that one. This is the only real choice because you can go to any other server as a guest for 24 hours. However, you can’t join their WvsW maps while guesting. (WvsW is a PvP map where a server fights another 2 servers)
Random info: Although GW2 makes you choose a home server, you can join the dungeons, maps and everything else of any other server as long as it’s in your realm (EU servers or NA servers). So… unless you and your friends are going to go to WvsW, it doesn’t matter wich server you join, they can guest into your server and play.
Although i don’t know wich one is the most populated, once you are in the server selection screen, you’ll see if the population is low, high, etc.
Something that it’ll be worth to mention is that “i think” that Piken server is roleplay encouraged (not sure about that) since i know some players from there and they are always roleplaying in the town.
Random tip: try all weapons, no excuse.
As example, i did choose a Warrior as main player because i wanted to use my sword against enemies. After lvl 40 i tried a bow… and then i realized how much i love the bow skills of the warrior. I tried a ranger after that but the bow skills are not that awesome for my personal taste, so i still use the bow months later instead of the sword. I’m a ranged warrior and i’d never imagine it’d turn into that when i created the character.
That’s how GW2 works, the weapon you are using determine the skills, although each proffesion got different skills for those weapons, so… that’s the better advice that i can give you as newbie: try all weapons, then choose the ones you like most.
In 3 days they’ll be gone, until that you can just ignore their existence.
I use my greatsword as much as possible, then at 10% health or when i’m in trouble i dodge backwards and change to bow, firing a lot of arrows while my heal skills recover.
As said above: being melee is a risk, being ranged is usually safer. Swapping to ranged in mid-combat and going melee again once recovered it’s something that most PvE players do while soloing champions/veterans.
Consider to use the LFG to get a group to “start” a dungeon, not to use it once started. That way nothing can be destroyed, because it still doesn’t exists.
I’m not saying that destroying isn’t a problem, but this workaround is too easy to do and bye bye headaches.
I’d say mesmer would be pretty useful for dungeons like Arah and some fractals, however elementalists are (and will be after the re-balance the devs were talking about yesterday in the stream) OP. So… i’d choose an Elementalist since it looks like it will be really more useful in the next months.
Both eles and mesmers can be safe from direct damage while enemies hit your creatures (Clones or earth elementals) and both can do big damage. The mesmer can use reflect to help the party and the elementalist can summon weapons for the same purpose. I’d say that both are just different playstyles but will work really good if you learn them properly.
As for warriors, you’ll have the hard time of telling everyone if you are or not a zerker. Some groups will hate you because you are not zerkers and some groups will be glad that you are not a zerker. So… it’s gonna be tricky. Nevertheless, if you have in mind to play with friends/guildies instead of PUGs, i’d choose a warrior because of the survability/damage/supportive role they can add to the party.
Make your choice.
It’s interesting how it even ports you somewhere, If Anet programmed that makes you think it was for a purpose. Maybe another of the legendary spots removed before the launch of the game, same as the secret room in top of the stairs after AC colossus?
Notice that in order to join some areas you must go away from them.
As example, there’s a puzzle in the West side of a snowy area (don’t remember where) that ports you to a cave in the West side of the map. That cave can’t be accessed unless you go through the puzzle, so… discovering it is tricky.
A warrior can be very versatile and supportive to the team if you aren’t focused only in DPS or zerker. However, a mesmer or ele might be a best choice for you if you like engineers.
Can i ask what kind of PvE are you aiming for? Dungeons, Fractals, Landscape events, jumping puzzles, guild quests?
I think the changes are to specific armour pieces, not to any stat. That being said, i can understand how they can nerf down the zerker builds without affecting the non-zerker builds.
@Shaogin, it’s about the live stream of balancing.
Exact, you need to put it in the forum that looks more appropiate for your suggestion. It’s encouraged to label the topic as this example:
[Suggestion] I want more maps!
With the dangers of the party merging issue (and griefers using this), no one should be using the in-game LFG anyway.
I use it daily for the intended use: to get 4 more players to start a dungeon. Not to sell/get more people after dungeon is started.
That way there’s no issues with the LFG
Just tried and indeed I can’t access when i guest, sorry about the confussion.
…….. editted…..
(edited by Elrey.5472)
i usually use my bow since it hits 3x than a charrzooka. However, i didn’t know it saves you from fear, i’ll give it a try.
If you located the Screens folder then it should be as easy as creating the Music folder yourself, to appear this way: http://prntscr.com/2k37v7
Then just create a playlist and save it inside with the name of the desired place to play the music. (example: Battle.m3u)
If you’re doing something you do not find fun in order to get some pixel cosmetic skin, you are foolish
so what are you doing here ? playing for cosmetic skins is this game
There is always 2 types of players:
-Those playing to have fun and no need rewards.
-Those playing for rewards even if getting them is bored.
You guys seems to be 1 of each type, just try to understand each other playstyle and try to be possitive in the thread :P
Hahaha the pipe (i’m evil… sorry for laughing)
I hope you find someone in NA willing to do it. Good luck!
So, I heard about this and looked up a guide. Apparently I’m supposed to open my GW2 Music folder..I don’t have one =/
Not the GW2 folder in program files, but the one in My documents. An easy way to know where is to find any screenshot, since screenshots are saved in a folder next to the Music folder.
If I just make a folder called Music will that substitute? I doubt it..
Don’t doubt it, if there is none, create it yourself and it’ll work.
Thanks for the response.
I spent another 3 hours doing it today and did get to the top where the glasses/goggles are but died on the way down. As if the journey up wasn’t enough of a challenge.
About that, this video shows exactly where to jump:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qsM0YsKAKU
That’s how i did it. You can pause and check every problematic area in the video 30 times before you jump in the game, that way when you jump you know exactly what to expect.
Sadly you are in NA servers, otherwise i’d help. It took me 7 hours to suceed in that the first time i was there (3 months ago), i went last week and took me 11 minutes.
As much as you don’t like trying over and over, you are eventually getting better and someday you’ll be able to do it in a blink. Nevertheless, if you are 3 hours in a row, take a break, because otherwise you’ll be burnout. After that break (the next day), try again and i bet you’ll be doing so much better.
I can’t help in NA servers, but I bet that you can get it if you are patient enough.
