Sorrow’s Furnace Commander
“You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!”-Colin Johanson
This looks like something that would make a great minigame/activity, but I wouldn’t like it for normal combat for a variety of reasons.
Rank should be a sign of experience in sPvP. It doesn’t show skill, but it should at least show how much time someone has dedicated to playing.
I hope we see bans for the worst exploiters, and that they remove glory/rank gain from custom arenas (not all hotjoin).
I wouldn’t mind doing story mode on more characters if they fixed the reward. Right now, my level 80 alts really don’t need level 40 rare helms that can’t be salvaged or sold.
For our first completion of story mode on a character, they should give us the choice between the usual helm or a set number of dungeon tokens.
Please remove account bound flag. I really do not care for sab skins… I can’t bring myself to throw them away nor do I want to keep them. And I don’t see why someone who can’t do tribulation yet wants the skins should be shafted.
Because they show that you’ve achieved something.
If you don’t want them, you could throw them away, but I recommend turning them into PvP skins, since those have collectible slots in the PvP Locker.
It only happened about three times.
I think this got fixed in one of the hotfixes, but it could have just been some sort of fluke. Either way, I haven’t encountered this problem since that first post.
Camera angle doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the direction of the dodge, it depends on which direction your character is facing.
If your character is standing still, they should dodge in the opposite direction from where they are facing.
If your character is moving, they should dodge in the direction that they are moving.
The bug is that sometimes when a character is moving they will dodge in the opposite direction from the direction that they are moving in.
For example, a character running forward will dodge backwards, or a character strafing right will dodge left. In both of these examples, the player continues commanding the character to move in the same direction the whole time, and the character goes in the correct direction before and after the dodge, just not during.
I believe this is user error. Have yet to encounter this (i’m using double-tap to dodge) and I have been playing steadily since the time this started happening for the OP.
I’ve been playing since beta and never encountered it before the later part of Dragon Bash, but it’s been happening about once or twice per day since then. It’s likely that the bug doesn’t affect double-tap to dodge.
Why should it be expensive? Levels are completely pointless in this game, why should I have to redo all this boring content (hearts/DEs) that I’ve done fifty billion times just to slowly grind to 80 before I can equip my char in gear and actually start doing stuff?
I’m playing a new char and now I don’t even feel like playing the game, I’m really not in the mood to do all this stupid old boring content for the hundreth time just so I have traits/utilities/gear and the ability to actually play the game (dungeons/wvw/etc).
This is incredibly stupid.
FYI: it was already pricey gold wise at 10 levels per craft.
“Levels are completely pointless in this game”. Then why do you care?
The great thing is that you can “actually start doing stuff” at any level. WvW scales you up. sPvP completely ignores your level. Activities don’t care what level you are. And if the “stuff” that you’re talking about it regular PvE, then why are you complaining that you have to do PvE stuff? If you just want to do a specific dungeon, then use a character that is already a high enough level, since the rewards and achievements are account-bound.
Since a lot of players are complaining about the unfairness of the stat boost from Borderlands Bloodlust, and how there’s no motivation to cap ruins to get it, here is my proposed solution:
1. Keep the +1/2/3 points for finishers part of the buff.
2. Remove the stats buff from players, but keep it for NPCs.
3. Provide a small amount of exp, karma, gold, and wxp for capturing a ruins location. This should be affected by diminishing returns to prevent farming. 2000 exp, 100 karma, 50c, and 25 wxp base, or something in that range, would be fair.
4. Alter the icons for the three different tiers of the buff so that players can tell what tier Borderlands Bloodlust is without having to mouse over it.
The downed state is a great boon to teamwork, I just wish eles couldn’t go through gates while downed.
An ESO beta invite…
I had one, but the downloader kept crashing, then it filled up all of the 30gb remaining on my harddrive, complained that it didn’t have space to start the download, and crashed again. It’s about 17gb total. I sent in a support ticket and two days later I got an automated response saying “How did we do? Were we able to fix your problem?”, even though they hadn’t even replied.
It just made me appreciate how easy Anet makes things.
The next living story chapter is called “Twilight Assault”. The trailer showed Aetherblades, steam creatures, and nightmare husks (and Caithe). It seems obvious that Scarlet is involved, and Faolain probably is too.
Most people are assuming that we’re just going to go fight Scarlet in a new locale, or maybe that Twilight Arbor is getting an overhaul, but here’s what I’m hoping for…
Scarlet intends to conquer the Nightmare Court, so she attacks Twilight Arbor with the intent to kill their leader, Faolain. Players join the battle, caught between two evil armies, and are forced to join with either Scarlet or Faolain to crush the other. Then, whichever path is completed by more groups determines living story events down the road.
Thoughts?
I’d love to see him flap launch players under his wings when he flaps them.
Anyone else find these slightly too rare?
No. I have several stacks of them that I don’t need yet. I’m not farming them or anything, but if you do WvW, dungeons, guild missions, or jumping puzzles you get a lot.
If you do that per character then prepare for the “greedy Anet is forcing us to buy more character slots” storm.
If it were per character, you’d still have to get each of those characters over 450 in two crafting disciplines to fully take advantage of this, which probably costs more than buying a character slot with gold to gems anyway.
I have nine characters, I can only play one at a time. I think it would be unfair if I could just print three ascended weapons per day because of it.
And if you can get the materials to “just print three ascended weapons per day” then you already have the money to just buy the time gated materials and “print” as many as you want anyway.
I also have nine character slots. I can only play one at a time, and in turn I can only craft materials with one of them at a time, but I can certainly play more than one of them per day.

Um, where does it say that Moto’s competing for the Snaff Prize? Is there even a Snaff Prize going on right now? Please show what sources this information comes from.
Also, I should mention that aside from a little dialogue from Vorpp, no one even knows her “Eternal Alchemy seeing” machine exists, and I’m sure if it was in the Snaff Prize competition, we’d know about it.
It’s mentioned in game by one of the NPCs when you follow the genie’s instructions. Also, I didn’t say that Moto is going for the Snaff prize, just that people assume that based on the info from the living story. Honestly though, he probably is.
I really doubt Scarlet cares about the Snaff prize, but she obtained her powers from that machine, so she has a strong motive for no one else to obtain such a machine. For details, read What Scarlet Saw.
On the other hand, I doubt Moto’s innocence, because one of the devs had a disclaimer saying that his actions and behavior bear no reflection on his namesake (Shigeru Miyamoto).
I think John Smith was a little trigger-happy when he changed soft wood and iron ore requirements to make soft wood planks, iron ingots, and steel ingots. The change was made shortly after release because there was a surplus of those materials in the economy, because most players were at the point where they were playing and gathering almost entirely in zones with soft wood and iron ore nodes. We’ve gotten far beyond that point, and it no longer makes sense for these materials to be a crafting anomaly.
There is one food that will give you a 30 minute speed buff, but it isn’t obvious in its description, or on the wiki…
I suppose I’ll let you guys in on the secret though, enough people already know to bring the price up to 25s each…
Bowl of Candy Corn Ice Cream.
Crafting to me feels like a desk job, it seems tacked on and really archaic. Now it’s required to obtain the best-in-slot equipment (which goes against their original concept of earning max gear the way you like to play, may I add). Adding time gated crafting recipes you need in order to make account bound equipment doesn’t make sense at all and makes this feel like a bigger chore than it already is. It’s not player (alts) friendly, it’s not logical, and it’s not fun.
Crafting isn’t required to get ascended weapons. You can obtain them via world bosses, champions, guild missions, or Fractals of the Mists, it’s just a very rare chance. I hope to see them available via WvW soon.
I agree that account-bound time gating is detrimental to those of us who play multiple characters. There should still be some form of time gating, but it should be per character rather than per account.
It also doesn’t make sense that the resulting time gated materials can be sold on the trading post. Rich players can simply skip the time gating, which seems to destroy what Anet was going for with the time gating in the first place (although not as bad as being able to buy legendary weapons on the trading post).

This thread made me facepalm so hard…
I accidentally double-clicked a Deep Glacial Teal Dye that I meant to sell when the price spiked (they got up to 86g). I decided to make the best of it though, and I’ve been wearing it as the base color on my armor ever since.
I’m just glad they added buyback to merchants so we don’t accidentally sell expensive items.
The chat issue was because of the maintenance that was going on. It was also causing party issues, but the maintenance is over now so it’s back to normal. If you’re still having any problems, try restarting your client (not just logging out).
This needs to be rolled back or fixed, it nerfs the best way to level up alts easily and makes crafting leveling to 80 prohibitively expensive.
It is a fix. It fixes the problem of people leveling up all of their alts for cheap using nothing but crafting. If you’re going to be able to skip straight to max level in an hour with no fighting, it better be expensive.
Doesn’t make any sense to me that they would nerf it that drastically either considering this was supposed to be a game where you could play as you like and we all know a certain portion of every mmo community are simply crafters and nothing more.
If you do nothing but craft, why does it even matter what level you are? The are very few level restrictions on crafting, and you can easily make up the difference in experience from an experience scroll, gathering your own materials, exploring the cities, or daily achievements (including crafter, karma spender, mystic forgesmith, recycler, and laurel vendor).

I’m not sure how, but Scarlet is definitely involved.
No. There is no indication at all of Scarlet being involved. And hopefully it stays that way.
Everyone assumes that “the competition’s machine” is a competitor with SAB for the Snaff Prize, but it’s quite possible that it’s actually a competitor with Scarlet’s Eternal Alchemy machine. If anyone has the skills to hack SAB, it’s Scarlet, but I’m sure there’s more to it than that.
I’m not sure how, but Scarlet is definitely involved.
Thanks for the report, this is a tricky one. We will continue looking into it. If you ever have more information on this bug like for example reproducible steps, go ahead and post them here!
Thanks for the reply. I haven’t noticed a way to reproduce it yet, but I’ll let you know if I do. I also think I’ve only seen it happen while in combat.
They finally changed it to preserve the existing message when we click edit.
Thanks Anet!
There’s probably already at least one thread about this, but I’m creating a new one since the I can’t find any because the forums search function still doesn’t work.
Players occasionally dodge roll in the opposite direction of where they are trying to dodge to. This was introduced around the time of Sky Pirates of Tyria and still hasn’t been fixed.
Yesterday my character died because he dodged into the burning oil attacks in the ascalon fractal. Last week my character died because he dodged off the edge in Skyhammer. The week before that my character died because he dodged back into range of an immobilize skill while running from a group of enemies in WvW. All of those dodges were in the opposite direction of how I pressed the keys. Most of my mis-directed dodges aren’t fatal, but they’re all frustrating. I really hope this gets fixed soon.
In case this info helps fix this: I have double-tap to dodge turned off, and always dodge with the V key.
Since the Tequatl Rising update, Leap of Faith (guardian greatsword 3) has started behaving strangely. Occasionally when I use it, it will just hang in midair (about halfway through the arc of the leap), and then drop my character there, without hitting a target.
Since the Tequatl Rising update, corpses of cultists in the cliffside fractal aren’t displaying properly. Some of the corpses are standing up, others are running in place. The entire group I was playing with had had this problem, so it wasn’t just my client.
The player responses in this thread disgust me. This is clearly a bug, and people even pointed out what caused it, yet responses like “I demand a refund” and “Anet loves screwing players over, they just want more money” continue.
I think we need more options of what to do with ascended materials. Adding new mystic forge recipes that use them would be cool. Adding crafting recipes for consumables made from them would also be nice. At the very least, let us sell them to merchants.

I have heard the flute can help with the ice cave…there’s evidently a song that will make all the icicles drop before you enter. I haven’t done it myself so I cannot verify this but anything to make it easier!
I think the ice cave referred to here is the one with the ice-spikes-o’-death you need to skate through while not being blown into them by the wind.
Afaik there’s no way to shortcut through it – but if someone out there knows of a way then please enlighten us
The one your talking about has a barrel with invincibility in it at the start, so you can just grab that and run to the end.

Rocky launch
Difficulty spikes
Inadequate rewards
Can’t farm
Also, I’m bad at the maths.
Difficulty spikes? That should be what we call those wooden stakes that come out of nowhere to impale you in tribulation mode.
As for inadequate rewards, I think that the problem is really that players aren’t able to get all of the baubles bubbles that they need for the skins they want within one month. If SAB ever becomes permanent, the current rate of earning rewards would be fine.

Busy with real life.
must buy, infinite coin
three days, one skin
two three, still bugged
still no, mod answer
These are all wrong.
No communication from developer(s).
Try reading the forums.
Because, as World 1 was designed as a fun experience for the player base…
…World 2 was designed to sell Infinite Continue Coin’s.
Bad grammar, false statement.

2-3 is a little longer than 2-2, but has fewer puzzles, easier fights, and no dart traps, so it takes less time (and less lives) for most people.
We’re currently looking at a few things regarding individual fractal difficulty and length. A couple of options are reducing the length of unnecessarily long fractals (dredge) and modifying the possible sequence of randomly selected fractals so you don’t get the longest and most difficult ones all on the same run.
Anthony, and about the hard cap at 50? And about the rewards that are completely abysmal? Every single pve content out there got a buffed reward except fractals, i’m lucky to get out of a level 48 with more than 1 gold. And those ones are exceedingly long and hard.
Really? Players in Sorrow’s Furnace have been using the newly increased rewards to entice players to join them in FotM. End chests now drop Empyreal Fragments and have a chance at dropping ascended weapons.
Not probably but is the most broken thing in the game.
I’d love to know how you define “broken”.
Adding more stealth to engineers has me a bit worried. Bunker engineers are already becoming problematic in sPvP and WvW. I would prefer to see an improvement to their weapon skills and/or single target damage rather than giving them even more survival options to use while they drop heavy AoE.
If Tequatl spawns too frequently, it will seem more like a farm-fest than an epic fight. I’m also worried that player numbers will quickly drop from players being spread between his spawn times.
Downscaling ascended to exotic is a bad idea.
Making ascended weapons and back pieces available from WvW is a good idea.
Yes, the bugs should be fixed, but you guys are grossly overreacting. I’ve been using this tonic constantly for months and never noticed any of these bugs.
Also, small cats are great, I’ve been using this tonic to help my huge charr do jumping puzzles and hide in WvW.
We are aware of this and are taking steps to mitigate this type of play.
In Gw1 these kinds of farming/syncing were banable. Is this something these people might be facing as well? It is just one of the other reason I have stopped PvP.
for your information, syncing in gw1 was never banned, and it took arenanet many years until they fixed random arena sync.
Syncing to get on the same team in RA was not bannable. Syncing both teams in HA and CA so you could farm the “dummy” team was bannable. This circumstance is similar to the latter.
It’s not the only way to rank up from 50. It takes a lot of time yes, but you don’t have to resort to exploiting like this because of that. If you can’t handle it, don’t resort to stuff like this just because you can’t. Only the most dedicated players will ever reach 70+. If this goes on however, we’ll see more and more of these farmers around that rank which is not something I wanna see. Glad to see that Anet has finally taken notice.
All in all, rank is a long term goal for the most dedicated players and there is no excuse for farming like this nor should there be shown any pity towards it.
This++
Thanks Discomoose! You were right, it was just a graphical bug.

I agree with the OP.
PS Sometimes I wish these forums were pay-to-whine. Anet would make so much money.
I think I’ll like the new mechanics of it, but I’m afraid the buff itself will be OP. I’d prefer something that could benefit individuals and the server as a whole, without making combat unfair, like +50% blueprint drops instead of +50 to all stats.
I really wish they would fix the forum search, it never works for me either. Sometimes it says 0 results, sometimes it just doesn’t filter at all.
This is in the wrong forum though, and should be moved to “Forum and Website Bugs”.
Still sounds like dart traps.
Please help… My achievement reward chest is still bouncing around in the corner of my screen, awaiting a reply.
They already have a simple, yet great looking animations on the textures. Particle effects would make them look terrible. If you want something with particle effects, transmute it.
