Sorrow’s Furnace Commander
“You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!”-Colin Johanson
GW2 isn’t supposed to be about grinding or farming, so this change is a positive step to help move away from that.
I’m not that excited for the new skin because gas masks have been in the game since release. Check out the helms available from Morro (the Sorrow’s Embrace token guy) in LA.
Click the icon in the top left that looks like two crossed swords to open the PvP window. There should be a button near the top left of that window that says something like “Leave the Mists”. Click that and you’ll return to the PvE world. From there, your next personal story objective should appear in green in the top right of your screen, with a green burst marking it on the map.

why dont you do it then
I’ve never edited anything on wiki, I don’t know how to do it
It’s easier asking for help to someone who already know how to do it >_>Edit: I’ve just read Stephane Lo Presti answer.
Thx for replying. I’ll try it.
The Edit button is a good place to start.
A map or mode that uses something similar to the skill selection system in Aspect Arena would be cool, especially if the options were randomized for each match but the same for both teams.
I habitually click “Deposit all collectables” so every time I try to charge my quartz I end up depositing them before I do so. I now only charge them in Stonemist Castle when we have a waypoint, because it gives me a free waypoint with a bank and a place of power. I’m excited to be able to charge my quartz in the same place I mine it.
Some of the Ascended inscriptions require charged crystals too, not just celestial gear.
Only the ascended celestial inscription.
Thanks OP, I’ve been having trouble figuring out why my guardian’s dodge moved him properly but didn’t actually cause evade. I didn’t know what to report, but I’m glad it’s being handled.
On the topic of bugs causing our dodges to fail, any update on the bug that causes our dodges to go in the wrong direction?
It’s been over a month since the devs figured out the cause, but still no fix. This bug has caused me one sPvP death, two WvW deaths, and cost me one WvW tower credit all in the past five days.
Is the fix still in the works or did it get backlogged due to some complications? Any chance we’ll see it before Wintersday?
With the top players closing in on 17k achievement points, I’m beginning to wonder…
Will new armor skins will be added to continue the trend of players receiving armor skins every 3,000 achievement points?
Hey Colin,
I would like to see Anet address the insane particle effects.
I can never anticipate when to dodge the statue of dwayna attacks because of this. You can barely make out the enemy model. Particle effects are nice and all, but in gw2 they are overly done. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this issue in any mmorpg I’ve played.
I’m in favor of toning down the particle effects, but a screenshot where your camera is shoved behind a single flame is not valid evidence.
Actually your screenshot did make me notice the jigsaw puzzle particles to the right, which look really cool. I must not play with my animations up high enough to see those.
I only read the posts on the first half of the first page, but most of the ones talking about WvW are so out of touch with reality that they sound like they’ve never even played it, especially the OP. If you’re looking for evenly matched fights in a smaller environment without NPCs or structures in your way, I’ve got good news for you: that already exists, and it’s called sPvP.
Anyone suggesting to remove hotjoin must be oblivious to the majority of players around them. Most of us enjoy playing hotjoin when we want to play without a queue or without the stress of affecting our rank. New players learn the basics of sPvP in hotjoin, and players who make their own builds (yes, they exist) test them out in sPvP. Hotjoin is a great form of casual PvP, and if you don’t like it, don’t play it.
the threshold is a bit high in my opinion
The threshold is less than 1% of the gate’s total health. If you can’t meet that threshold, you can hardly claim credit for tearing it down.
Well the achievement doesn’t count towards the meta-achievement and also doesn’t earn you points, so, you shouldn’t care about it. (As far as i know, you can complete the other achievements without this one, isn’t it?)
No, the only purpose of this achievement is to regulate the other achievements, which is why all of the others require this one. It just means that season 1 has started so you can progress the season 1 achievements now.
Just crashed three times in a row because of this bug.
“Toxin” is likely going to be a new condition that we’ll only see from new content, so that won’t even affect WvW.
A minor heal that can remove poison, torment, and confusion from yourself and up to four adjacent allies will be next to useless in WvW, because that would never be worth trading your actual heal skill for. Every class (except Thief) already has better condition removal than that from at least one utility or heal skill.
This thread is ridiculous.
Its more about principle than one healing skill. You should take a look at Anet history of adding new skills thru each gw1 release concluding with EotN. There wassn’t any powercreep thru gear but there sure was via skills.
I’ve seen how they handle introduction of new skills and i beleve that my fears are justified.
I played GW1 for 8 years, I think I know its history and evolution fairly well. This skill seems to be experimental more than anything. It seems that they’re adding just this one skill, primarily aimed at removing “toxin”, and seeing how players react to the addition of a universal skill (aside from Mistfire Wolf). I’m sure it will undergo some changes in the future, but it seems more like Lightbringer Signet than Ursan Blessing.

As a legitimate player who generally does PvE dailies while waiting for solo queue, I hadn’t even noticed this, but I understand the frustration of the other players.
In my opinion, the best option to address this situation is to change rank point back to being earned instantly, and remove rank points completely from custom arenas.
Communication is the most important thing for a commander.
Anyone can lead a zerg around mindlessly capping things, but to be a good commander, you need to keep everyone informed at all times.
But there are plenty of other things to learn too.
Also, don’t overuse your commander tag.
And finally…

Red was originally the lowest ranked of the three teams, so this was (probably) intended to be a handicap. With the introduction of leagues, I agree that this should be re-balanced.
7 weeks = 49 days. If you do 1 rank per day, and 2 ranks when “World Ranker” is a daily, you’ll still be able to take a few days off.
And if you fall behind, you can buy ranks for 2 laurels and 50 badges per rank (100 laurels and 2500 badges total).
PvP Sun, Wind, and Lightning Catcher skins bought on the trading post can’t be deposited in the PvP Locker.
I have two bank slots out of commission because of this bug, which I reported months ago and still nothing has been done about it.
PvP
This change actually replaced the existing rewards rather than adding to them.
I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who was incredibly frustrated by this change.
along these lines…how about a mine with LOTS of orichalcum nodes that only the team that controls the mine can harvest?
Like putting harvesting nodes inside of towers? I like it, but I think this would only work in the Edge of the Mists, because otherwise players would come take up space in the queue just to harvest.
Not to mention that acquiring Ancient Wood and Orichalcum Ore in WvW is a joke.
My money is on either a new world boss (overhaul of the Blood Witch, or she summons something to put Tequatl to shame) or a new primarily underwater dungeon.
This was an intended change. Players were using supply specifically to level the achievement – and there’s better uses for supply than that. This is our first step towards improving WvW achievements overall.
However, I do agree that we could have communicated this a bit better.
Sorry about the confusion.
So those of us who put in countless hours to level those achievements without wasting supply are just screwed?
Blizzard never does this. Just saying.
Blizzard never introduces bugs in their updates? That’s a good one.
Doesn`t take a year to introduce something that they knew we wanted even before the beta started , they`re just giving us the fob off !
I`d happily swop less inane living fortnightly story, the daily and monthly grind for something we ACTUALLY want and i think most Guild Leaders would say we NEED !
Hey, that’s me! (the ooze in the middle)
Those were good times.
I really don’t like the concept of this idea. It detracts from teamwork and would discourage players from trying to survive as long as possible (ie ‘if I go down before my teammate, I get to rally and he dies’).
Same problem here. Tried in EB, my guildie tried in LA. Both failed to trigger the daily.
We’ve temporarily disabled the pack-up skills on all of the deployable siege weapons to stop the siege duping exploit. A real fix to this will be coming with the release on Tuesday.
So glad you guys found the exploit.
I think it’s safe to assume the dupers will be permanently banned, but what will you do about the duped Omega Golem Blueprints that have been distributed through the trading post? The sheer number of them is enough to devastate the upcoming WvW Season 1.
Skyhammer is the only map where it’s easy to “evict” a noob with a bunker build. Please don’t change that.
A stricter dishonor system would be nice.
And if you want top notch WvW, choose Sorrow’s Furnace!
I had to. :P
It’s been fun fighting you guys and FC this week. Three hours til reset and it’s still anyone’s game!
What DOES keep all the angry peeps playing? I am asking seriously. What makes you log in to this game instead of one of our million other choices? Let’s find that and make more.
My guess is that most of them are just whiners who will whine about any game they play. At least GW2 gives them someone to whine to.
So by the way we have two main topics of conversation now:
1: Polls: Every seems to like them but where do they go?
2: Game Feedback Collaboration: How do we want to do this?Chris
What if you gave us an option to right click on certain things that would open a window like the ones used in beta to rate personal story quests. This could apply to all sorts of things around the game: right-click on the “Event Completed / Event Failed” reward popup to rate an event, right-click a task heart to rate that task, right click an achievement in the hero window to rate it, right-click the living story display to rate the current living story, etc. This system could be opted into or out of in the options window at any time.
Also, on a related note, you should expand the subcategories in the bug reporter to be more inclusive. I’ve reported countless things with the in-game bug reporter, and only about 10% of the time is there a category+subcategory combination that actually fits what I’m trying to report.
There is a lore reason against it: gargoyles are presumed to be extinct.
Anet is trying to mitigate the problem to prevent further exploiting in the future. In addition to that, there are three options:
1. Do nothing about the exploiters. Exploiters benefit, legitimate players suffer.
2. Ban major exploiters, suspend minor exploiters. Exploiters suffer, legitimate players benefit.
3. Reset the rank system. Exploiters suffer, legitimate players suffer. Players who are new to sPvP would benefit, and this could open the door to a PvP reward overhaul.
Another armor set designed with only female humans in mind. Big surprise.
Enough with the whining and conspiracy theories though. Just like the ascended back pieces, transmute it and move on.
Oh yeah, I meant to report that. Glad you guys are on top of it anyway.
It definitely dragged on too long for one game, but it was a lot of fun. For a while I was running two kegs at a time with two enemy players trying (unsuccessfully) to stop me.
Great suggestion, but it is exactly that, and belongs in the suggestions forum. Also the title isn’t descriptive at all.
Best:
Worst:
Best permanent content added since release:
Lore wise, the advent of the Pact lead to rapid creation of new inventions because the Pact merged the technology of 10 races with the knowledge of 3 orders.
It would be nice if they toned down the use of asuran technology though.
Yes, it is bannable, read the EULA.
(edited by EnemyCrusher.7324)
I had that happen once, but it was a 3v0. I was queued for solo queue and sPvP got shut down for a server update during the “waiting for players to join” phase. When we rejoined afterward, the other 7 just never came back.
I did every daily (thus at least 3 matches) a day for 6 months now, i’m r22. Enlighten me how to get r50 in two days cause i dont get it and i want it…
1. Exploiting is bad.
2. Asking people to teach you how to exploit on the official forums is bad.
Alright, I wasn’t going to post here
Hmm, interesting, so you guys read stuff even if you dont reply? Now thats interesting information…
They’ve literally said that hundreds of times.
@Stampede, were you downscaled when you checked this? Even if you’re level 80, the trait likely considers your effective level rather than your actual level.
