For those with several characters, for those who invest in experimenting with different builds have to wait 30 days for EACH set of armor is just excesive, Anet you are punishing the players who invest more hours in your game, by forcing to wait natural days to get laurels to buy the recipes.

This is enough reason to think about leaving the game.

I understand your point, but you’re skipping past a lot of things to make it.

• Ascended gear is meant to be a long term goal, not something you should have instantly on all characters when they hit 80 (like exotic)
• You don’t need ascended armor. It will quickly become relevant in WvW because your enemies will start acquiring it, and it could be helpful in fractals, but you’ve survived perfectly fine so far without it.
• You only need 30 laurels for each set of armor if there’s absolutely no overlap between the the types of armor that you’re purchasing.
• You act as if we all have to start from 0 laurels with this release. If you’re truly dedicated, like you say, you’ve already acquired hundreds of laurels from dailies, monthlies, and achievement rewards. I bought three characters worth of ascended trinkets, an Endless Mystery Cat Tonic, Goedulf, Chauncey von Snuffles III, all 8 crafting starter boxes, a handful of infusions, a few ascended weapon recipes, a taste of liquid world experience for each daily “big spender”, and I still have 60-something left over.

A dedicated player would never think about leaving the game over something this minor.

It looks like a texture got lost somewhere. Is this bug happening to anyone else, or just the OP?

I really hope they didn’t remove it. I’m fine with limited-time skins, but making the best weapon mod in the game limited-time is a very bad precedent.

If you didn’t gift anything that you also bought for yourself, this wouldn’t apply to you anyway. The sale only applies to that specific situation.

You can also send me all of your gold if you want to start afresh.

You should also be able to burn through your other currencies with little effort at their respective vendors. That just leaves achievements (and unspendablely small amounts of other currencies) that can’t be reset.

Another work around should be to enter PvP (or WvW) and then take the Asura gate there back to LA.

You can’t travel to Heart of the Mists or WvW while dead, but you can enter Solo Queue, and it’ll drop you into the Heart of the Mists after your match.

A few days ago I purchased 800 gems and bought a Wintersday Minis 3-Pack for myself (500 gems) with the intention to buy one for my girlfriend closer to Christmas once I had the money to buy more gems.

Today, the “Holiday Gifting Event” started: “From now through December 31, players who send a gift to a friend can purchase that same item in any quantity for themselves at 40% off!”

Is there a way to return the Wintersday Minis 3-Pack so that I can buy two of them and take advantage of this sale? Or is there another way I can take advantage of this sale? With the 40% discount on the second one, I’d be able to afford both with the 800 gems I purchased.

Yep, sorry for the confusion. It’s when you accept the chest. That’s the time you get the bonus rank points and rewards.

You should now get 450 bonus points for a Solo Arena Win and 1000 bonus points for a Team Arena win. This is in addition to the the regular match rewards.

• The commander map markers need to actually work in WvW. (I’ve tried using them and they only worked in PvE)

20% increase on a miniscule chance may be significant to Anet (who looks at the market as a whole), but is completely inconsequential to the individual trying to forge a precursor.

It may be a novel thing to an economist, but sometimes money is not everything that matters. And people are not statistics.

Except that it is very consequential to the player trying to forge a precursor. 20% more precursors from the forge leads to more supply, more supply leads to lower prices, lower precursor prices leads to lower rare and exotic weapon prices, which means that the person throwing countless weapons into the forge will pay less for each weapon that they put in, and they have a 20% higher chance to get a precursor, so it probably won’t take as many tries.

You can’t take only one piece of the economy, pretend that it works entirely separate from the rest of it, and tell the economist that he’s wrong for considering every piece of the equation.

Scarlet’s invasions are a prime example. In a chaotic environment with a lot of events, where people need to organize to complete them, commanders are great for drawing attention to certain objectives. Recently I’ve also had great success using my commander tag to gather players for “toxic” living story events and climbing the tower of nightmares.

For a basic tag to use in PvE, yes, but I’d like to see more requirements to distinguish seasoned commanders from “gem store commanders”. I think there needs to be some WvW requirement for WvW commanders. Requiring at least world rank 100 to use a commander tag in WvW would be fair, and including visual upgrades of some sort for much higher ranks could help distinguish even more. Higher tiers of PvE tags could also be available for players with higher achievement points or even specific achievements.

It might be a good idea to take a clue from certain big software companies, that give redemption codes or offer a free upgrade to customers who bought their software right before an upgrade announcement. i.e. You announce on the date 1st of dec that from that date you’ll reward gem purchases with a gift, then it’s a nice gesture to also include purchases from 3 days before this announcement. (the grace period should be set based upon your marginal gains and purchase volumes of the previous days, e.g. how many customers are you likely to upset by not including them).

With these announcements it’s better to have them a week prior to the actual date of inception so that customers are aware of it. Especially since it is a medium term promotion (a flash sale or incentive is justified in its own right, and is a risk customers take when buying at ordinary price).

I believe adding a grace period here would be best for the customers and you. It was a mistake though to have brought up the duration of a grace period as now someone will feel left out no matter.

The problem there is that you then have people who bought it 3.5 days before and people who bought it 4 days before (etc) wanting the vouchers.

My guess for the “Do Not Touch” pillars is that Scarlet is trying to use them to harness the magic leaking from the ley lines.

It also makes sense that Tequatl gained his new power by essentially replacing Zhaitan and is consuming much larger amounts of magic than he previously was.

Scarlet knows the power of the dragon energies, sees what it did to Tequatl, and possibly wants to channel it all to herself. To do this would likely require the deaths of the elder dragons, since they are the natural force that consumes excessive magic. Maybe Scarlet really wants to kill the remaining elder dragons, and plans to trick us to achieve her goal.

The Mystic Forges in the WvW borderland garrisons never changed back from cauldrons when Halloween ended.

I hate the dredge fractal as it is now, but I think it would be fine with three minor changes:

1. Slightly increase the time between respawns in the switch/cage area
2. Reduce the total number of dredge in the bomb room
3. Halve the number of dredge that spawn from the “clown car”

I’ve gotten swamp as my first fractal and Mai Trin as the end boss every time since the update. It could just be coincidence, but it doesn’t feel right.

I would love to see more of the existing thief skills usable underwater.

Once ladders are implemented, ranks will be retired. To honor the effort that players have put into the rank system, existing players will be able to keep all unlocked rank finishers and will earn a special title based on your rank to show that you were there from the start. Variants of existing rank finishers will move to the ladder system and will be used to show your current standings on the ladder from season to season. The original finishers will not be earnable again.

I have mixed feelings about the changes, but this change is the one that infuriates me. This is essentially giving exploiters permanent rewards and making them unattainable to legitimate players.

Why should players who exploited Skyhammer get to keep their cool finishers while those of us who have been playing legitimately since the beginning never get the chance to obtain them?

You have only the #1 skill and it’s melee ( ranging would be too easy :P ). You kill stuff in one hit and they one-shot you as well

I had a match where I had the highest rank on my team (27) and the enemy team’s lowest rank was 39. It was a painful match. I can’t wait for things to settle back out.

Every greatsword impales my character while stowed. The chest piece that they are clipping with is a Warband Hauberk (tier 1 cultural), but most clip through my characters back itself.

Please help, this is embarrassing enough with my felblade, but I’m close to getting Twilight, and I want to be able to show it off when I do.

That’s a terrible idea. Dragonite Ore is the 2nd easiest component to get besides Bloodstone Dust. You just have to watch timers. Also if you have more than one 80, that’s Ore for each character for every event. You can get 500+ in a single day with little effort if you have the characters and mentality for it.

Not everyone wants to spend hours a day farming world bosses. I get at least 5x as many empyreal fragments as dragonite ore from regular play, which usually includes at least two world bosses per day.

They’re not late. They said the update will occur on 11/26/2013 in Pacific Standard Time. Right now, more than an hour after this thread began, it’s 11:12 AM in PST. They still have almost 13 more hours before they’re late.

probably just thinks everyone else agrees so made up numbers to justify his opinion. Nonsense really. 90% of the player base probably wants ascended removed. I’ve come across very few who want ascended to stay.

They are made up numbers, but they’re definitely more accurate than the numbers you’re making up.

I think most of the unskippable ones are because something is actually happening while you’re watching it. Using the molten bosses as an example, you can’t skip that because that’s when they enter the arena. If players could skip that, they would still have to wait as it happens anyway.

That being said, I hate the burning boulder cinematic in the grawl fractal.

Why?
If it is a public leader board – e.g. like the following:
1 = ‘My name is FOTM’ (in-game character name)
2 = ‘Volcanarous’
3 = ‘I play too much FoTM’

There is a big security risk (IMO) that players on the public leader board will be bombarded in-game by players with PMs/Messages or hack-attempts to steal someones account (as they are known to be good at what they do).

At minimum please require players to type in a players name to find out where they are in the leader board.

You could make the same argument against the achievement points or the sPvP leaderboards, and those problems haven’t arisen from either of them.

I bought a dye pack and a miniatures pack, got an abyss dye and mini pink moa. Unfortunately that was in the last beta weekend event, so they both got removed.

My best luck aside from that is last week when I got the exact infused ring I wanted from fractals of the mists as the first infused ring I’ve had drop. That may not sound like much, but it’s much better than my usual luck.

Here are my ideas so far. Some are more fun than realistic. I’ll list them in approximate order of difficulty.

• Downed skills 2 and 3 are disabled.
• All veteran foes have a downed state.
• Nourishments are disabled.
• Agony ticks twice as fast.
• Elite skills are disabled.
• Players take damage while moving faster than normal.
• Every time a player is stunned, a utility or heal skill is disabled for 10 seconds.
• Max boon or condition stacks is 5.
• Every 15 seconds, two players swap locations.
• Players have 50% health and 150% armor.
• Players have 50% healing power.
• One player carries an “ethereal burden” and moves 75% slower. Touching another player removes the burden from the first player and gives it to the second.
• Every 30-40 seconds all players are knocked down for 2 seconds (ignores stability).
• All veteran foes have Toxic Corruption (and cause hallucinations).
• All foes are stealthed while out of combat.
• Utility skills share recharge.
• Players have permanent Weakness.
• Players slowly lose health while out of combat.
• All player weapons are disabled and players fight using their other skills and bundles scattered throughout each fractal.
• Bosses deal 50% more damage, but agony heals rather than hurts.
• Friendly fire.

List your ideas for Mistlock Instabilities. They can be fun, interesting, realistic, challenging, speculative…whatever you want. Keep it clean please.

Real Mistlock Instabilities (add 30 to get the difficulty level):

1. Mist Stalker – The Mossman stalks you through the fractals
2. Impaired Immunity – Conditions applied to you last longer
3. Outflanked – Enemies do more damage when attacking from behind or the sides
4. Fleeting Precision – Your critical chance is reduced
5. Stormy Weather – Lightning periodically strikes
6. Losing Control – Outgoing control effects have reduced effectiveness
7. Keep Them In Line – Damaged enemies gain boons when unattended
8. Ill and Chill – Poison, chill, and confusion have unintended effects
9. Last Laugh – Enemies explode when killed
10. Agonizing Expedition – You are frequently afflicted with agony (need 50+ AR)
11. Playing Favorites – Untargeted enemies take half damage
12. Lethargic – Reduced endurance regeneration
13. Bloodlust – Combat is agonizing. Get a kill for relief (you take increasing damage each time you hit an enemy)
14. Overextended – Take damage when you deal critical damage
15. Frosty – Periodically leave a patch of chilling frost
16. Social Awkwardness – Nearby allies reduce your healing effectiveness
17. Antielitism – Elite skills cause death
18. Tainted Renewal – Regeneration, protection, and vigor have unintended effects
19. Stamina – Outgoing damage is reduced when endurance is low
20. Agonizing Expedition – You are frequently afflicted with agony (need 70+ AR)

She’s still too afraid of Scarlet to talk, and I doubt Scarlet has any intention of rescuing her since she doesn’t seem to care for much for any of her “pawns”. What’s she going to do / say other than what she already does?

I guess they could swap around her dialogue a little, but it would just be variations of the same thing. “I ain’t talkin”.

I agree that Scarlet probably doesn’t care to rescue Mai Trin, but the fact that Mai is still trying to hide Scarlet’s existence from the people around her who are all talking about Scarlet doesn’t make sense. Plus she’s hinting at the attack on Divinity’s Reach in future tense. Maybe she is completely oblivious, but the Lionguard left her cage in an open space to show off her capture, so you’d think she’d have heard something by now.

I was thinking this exact same thing when I bought 450 Sun Beads yesterday.

I think it would be great if they added a choice of radiant/hellfire boots at 21k and 30k, leggings at 24k and 33k, and chest pieces at 27k and 36k AP.

The minimum required AP for a full radiant set would be 27k AP, so I wouldn’t be too worried about going blind from hordes of people wearing full radiant armor.

This idea might make sense if each server had only 1 person controlling where all of the players are, but no individual player is going to think “I should go to a zone I don’t want to be in so people I don’t know might get a minor buff that they don’t really care about.”

Something like the WvW Outnumbered buff might achieve what you’re going for, but it could definitely lead to hate and griefing.

If your warrior is fire themed, then definitely yes.

Don’t discover any weapons between 400-425 or 450-460.

Refine orichalcum, refine ancient wood, create components, and create inscriptions to get to 425.

Use the inscriptions and components that you made to get to 450 (you can make sharpening stones too, but they’ll only give decent progress before 435).

If you’re patient (or have a ton of ascended materials) you can refine most of the way from 450 to 475, but you should start making exotics around 465-470.

Once you’ve drained your ascended mats (or your patience), you’ll need to craft exotics the rest of the way to 500. You should get about 2-3 levels per exotic.

And use a crafting booster for 425 and up.

Mai Trin is still sitting in Lion’s Arch in a cage in Lion’s Arch, refusing to tell us about Scarlet, and to “Just keep your eyes on the sky, if you know what’s good for you.”

Her dialogue hasn’t been updated in months. Will we see any update to her dialogue or story? Or has she just become a clueless piece of scenery that we can talk to to reminisce about the Aetherblade attacks?

It’s not dying.

For every MMO, people start saying that it’s dying about a week after launch, and continue until it actually dies. For GW1, that was 8 years later (when GW2 launched), and to be honest it still isn’t totally dead.
