I’ve heard rumors of a new commander UI. Can you provide any elaboration on this and whether it’s already being worked on or not?

Also, are there any changes to traps in the near future? I made some suggestions recently but it seems like traps are already a forgotten mechanic.

The recent nerf to thieves underwater abilities made them almost useless underwater in sPvP. In underwater combat, a downed ranger can survive most thieves by just using Lick Wounds and auto-attacking. That’s just wrong.

Spears lack range. Harpoon guns lack damage. Utility skills lack available variety. Elite skills really lack variety because we’re forced to use Basilisk Venom. Stealth, thieves signature tactic, is only available from one healing skill and one drowning skill.

Changes I’d like to see:

• Merge Combo Critical Chance into Combined Training
• Add a new Master tier Critical Strikes trait that increases sword and spear damage by 5%
• Allow players to move while channeling Shadow Assault
• Increase bleed duration from The Ripper to 10 seconds and increase base damage from 84 to 87 to match Piercing Shot.
• Allow Thieves Guild to be used underwater
• Allow Caltrops to be used underwater
• Allow Blinding Powder to be used underwater

These changes wouldn’t give thieves any powerful buffs, but would give them just enough options to be able to play their own play-style underwater, and deal enough damage/conditions to be able to compete with other classes underwater.

We can’t dye any back items, but I wish we could. Although I suppose that would ruin the pink quaggan backpack vs blue quaggan backpack thing.

It’s not going to stay, but it will likely be back for a month every year. If you think about it, that’s better anyway. If it stuck around people would stop playing it after a while and you’d never be able to play unless you organized a game.

It’s still pretty buggy and so is Keg Brawl. I wish they would fix the game-breaking bugs in their minigames (autobalance in DB, long lob in KB) before adding new minigames like they’re doing in the next patch.

I would much rather see achievement specific rewards in addition to rewards earned with AP. That way certain things can only be obtained by completing the permanent achievements while others can be earned over time, even for players who’ve done most of the permanent ones.

As a commander on a currently blue team, I hope this gets fixed ASAP. It’s really frustrating that we can’t upgrade Quentin Lake or Durios.

This sounds like a rare but long-standing bug that was only revealed because of so many people doing Goemm’s Lab for the Aetherblade Cache. I hope any players that were wrongfully banned even before the Aetherblade update get reinstated too.

In the first Guild Wars, editing a guild message was simple and convenient. We just clicked ‘Edit’, modified the message however we wanted, and clicked ‘Done’. If guild members wanted to copy part of the guild message they could just select it and use ctrl-c to copy.

In Guild Wars 2, when we click ‘Edit’ we get a blank message box to work with. We can’t make minor changes or additions to the guild message without rewriting the entire thing. This is extremely frustrating if we realize that there is a typo or we want to add something. There are also many ways to accidentally close the edit window, losing all of your changes. Guild members can’t copy things that are in the guild information such as URLs or VOIP information.

I haven’t said anything before because I thought there was no way that such a poorly designed guild message system was permanent, especially after the one in GW was so convenient. Instead I gave up on using guild messages months ago (after avidly updating and maintaining them in GW).

So I ask that guild messages please preserve the existing message when we click, make the edit window more stable so it doesn’t close if we switch windows, and allow guild members to select the text in the guild message so it can be copied.

I also think this is a bad idea. If you can’t get to a waypoint, there’s probably a reason for that. If you need to get to a specific place isn’t completely outside of your level range you should be able to run there in a matter of minutes. This suggestion would remove all of the experience that players gain from discovering waypoints and completely trivialize exploration.

I agree that there needs to be an automated way to replace the existing guild leader. Making it automated poses no threat to guilds’ privacy and could not be abused by players petitioning for help.

It should be simple, effective, but lenient. Something like this:

If all guild leaders fit either of the following criteria, the player with the most permissions that has been in the guild longest and does not fit the following criteria gets promoted to leader:

• 180 days since last login
• Account banned and 60 days since last login (to give time to appeal)

I actually prefer the weak loot for temporary dungeons. I’d much rather enjoy them for their content than feel like the loot is the only reason to do them.

I cannot believe that ArenaNet would support such behavior… Griefing is completely uncalled for, and yet ArenaNet//NCSoft supports this type of behavior… Proof of it? Proof enough is that they have a jumping puzzle in WvW with traps that encourage the behavior….

PvP is not griefing.

The traps are there to provide a unique experience that is not available anywhere else in the game, and to allow players to defend against their enemies reaping the tactical rewards of the end chest (siege blueprints and badges of honor).

Happened to me and a guildie at separate times in Harathi Hinterlands. Mine was while in a cave full of centaurs.

I’ve seen some really OP ranger builds in WvW and sPvP recently (rangers consistently soloing entire groups of other players), which isn’t exactly what I’d call “useless”.

There are plenty of bad traits and skills that should be adjusted. They were just adjusted to improve balance and it’s going to continue. Please give the devs feedback here. Tell them why skill X sucks, or why trait Y is terrible. But, please do so in a logical and constructive way, because all of this whining, conspiracy theories, and nonsensical hyperbolies will get you nowhere, and drowns out any constructive feedback that might actually improve the game.

In a jarring plot twist we find out that Eir Stegalkin was the one who sparked the Molten Alliance, because she wanted Cragstead to be destroyed so Braham would have to return to Hoelbrak.

But of course she was being manipulated by evil mastermind Morraloo, who intended for all land-dwellers to kill each other off so that quaggans can rule the land as well as the sea.

I’m both amazed and disgusted at how many people will +1 a rant that doesn’t make any sense.

The bats and the harpies that I saw become invulnerable did so because they were still targeting a player that they were unable to hit _even though there were other players that they could hit_.

If you haven’t noticed that the difference here is that while as general mechanic a mob changes aggro to a new aggroable pj if there is one when the one it had locked becomes unavailable (not able to move to the pj/reach with attacks, resetting and then becoming invulnerable if still attacked by the player but not able to aggro), this particular bug is that while having other available pjs to aggro it ignores them and keeps popping invulnerable for several seconds, you’re not very smart. Not my fault you’re going to have a complex about it.
Again, while it’s somehow related to that general reset/invulnerable mechanic all mobs follow, here there must be a specific mechanic, probably to avoid exploits such as killing the harpies from points they can’t fight back, causing them to not reaggro normally even if they have pjs to do so.

Personally attack me and agree with me in the same sentence? I’m done trying to have a civil and constructive discussion with you.

I don’t care about other mobs and other instances within the game. The way aggro and resets function with the harpy hunters in the Uncategorized Fractal is complete bullkitten and utterly broken. I have no problem with Anet fixing exploits, but this is not the answer.

Enemies’ can remain aggroed on a player even after that player is no longer “in combat”. I don’t think it’s a bug, but it does seem like poor implementation, and I agree that it should be changed. It would be an improvement if enemies could change aggro targets easier and don’t become invulnerable to the players that they can hit.

Oh, the only thing I’ve seen about that was a while back, and it was something to the effect of “we’re keeping our options open” so there’s no definitive answer. I don’t think they’ve said anything about releasing a new pistol, shortbow, or longbow before other types of weapons either. I doubt they’ll release any new legendary weapons before the precursor scavenger hunt is introduced.

I hope they go back towards the “titles” of gw1. Not just displaying a title above your name mind you, but the ones that had in game effect.

The “lucky” title gave you a higher chance for salvaging and retaining a lock pick. “wisdom” gave a salvage bonus. And all of the EotN titles had special PvE bonuses for being in an area, with skills that got stronger based on how high your title was (don’t think that last one would work with the new system though).

It’d be nice if our achievements could give a passive MF%, a better chance to get ectos/runes from salvaging, etc. Heck even something small like a +5% damage vs. an enemy type would be a reason to bother with the slayer achievements.

I like that idea, as long as the bonuses are minimal and restricted to PvE. They would have two logical ways of implementing that, one where achievement completion gives you the (hidden) buff 100% of the time in PvE, and one where the title you’re wearing can give you a specific (visible) buff in PvE.

For achievement completion, they could do things like creature slayer achievements give +2% damage to that creature type, each tier of “Master of Entropy” gives a 1% discount (up to 50%) on salvage kits bought from merchants, or each tier of “Emergency Response Hero” completed gives +2% experience from event completion.

For the title you’re wearing, they could do things like “The Emperor” gives +15% magic find, “Master Crafter” gives a +15% gathering boost, “Dungeon Master” gives you +5% running speed in dungeons, or “Combat Healer” let’s you revive allies 10% faster.

That would be the passive effect of your Plague Signet.

About half of the items I’ve withdrawn from the guild bank since the most recent patch have temporarily disappeared. They don’t appear in my inventory until I withdraw another item. Nothing has been lost, it’s just confusing and annoying.

Also Wayfarer foothills and Diessa Plateau haven’t changed for good as promised (in original game update blurb). Why not leave remnants of the Molten Alliance (now broken) in a bit of the maps possibly around the dungeon entrance etc??

They each have a small area that wasn’t there before Flame & Frost. Leaving the Sonic Periscopes and their guards (which annoyed most players anyway) wouldn’t make sense, because we defeated the Molten Alliance. It’s a “living story”, it wouldn’t make sense if they were still hanging around.

There are/were plans (announced back in January) to add additional rewards to achievements and rewards based on total points. Since recent achievements rewards items, maybe that’s as far as they’re going to take it now.

We’re still working on a system that rewards bonuses and rewards for achieving various thresholds of achievement points on your account. More news on this soon!

That would punish new players that missed out on “Living Story” achievements.

Following that logic, every aspect of PvE punishes new players. They start at zero, just like the rest of us did, and that’s how it should be.

Veteran players are given nine months of living story opportunities in their first nine months, and new players are given nine months of living story opportunities in their first nine months. It wouldn’t make sense any other way.

The Hall of Monuments Reward Calculator still says “Beta” to the right of name at the top. Is it really still in beta? I figure that was left there by mistake, but I wouldn’t complain about additional rewards being added.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. You should fix the grammar and spelling in your post to make it readable, and remove the “(Anet?)” part of the title before you get infracted.

If you’re asking if new legendary weapons will replace old ones, but keep the same recipes, then the answer is no, because they don’t plan to remove the existing legendary weapons, so the new ones will need their own recipes. Also they haven’t given any specifics beyond that they plan to introduce more legendary weapons in the future (nothing about silly ones or how they’ll be made).

When you decide to become a chef, the Master Chef warns you that it is an advanced discipline. If you want a surefire way to get exactly the ingredients you want, then buy them from the trading post.

Does blocking a player on your contacts list mute their instruments for you? If not, it should.

I can tell you what – I will not spend another dime on gems if that’s how valued of a customer I am for having spent almost 1000$ to date on gems. (Guess that’s not enough, sorry NCSoft.)

They will likely be able to roll-back your account, but recommend that you don’t, since that is typically reserved for hacked accounts. If all you lost was transmutation stones (not crystals) it’s not that much of a loss. Also, it’s Arenanet that you’re dealing with; NCSoft is the parent company.

I hadn’t noticed that until you mentioned it, but you’re definitely right.

I’ve been using the forums search function since launch, and for months it worked fine, but it seems to be very unreliable recently. It was () hit-or-miss for a while, but now it never works at all. Each time I try to search, regardless of where I am in the forum or what I search for, either nothing happens or it says there are 0 results. I use Chrome on Windows 7 and Firefox on OSX Lion.

I’m fairly certain they will release five expansions throughout the next 6 years or so, each connected to one of the “under construction” asura gates in LA (no source, just prediction).

I would also love to see a wrapping up of the Guild Wars Beyond events, since it looks like they won’t be doing the Elona or Ebonhawke parts of it in the first game.

The bottom line is that the Dredge are based on Soviets, not Russians. Also keep in mind that most of them aren’t evil, they’re just being used by their power-hungry leaders (another Soviet reference).
