Sorrow’s Furnace Commander
“You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!”-Colin Johanson
Oh, it’ll stop…. It’ll stop immediately when Anet gets it together and puts in some Streak-Breaker code
27 Ectos out of 100 Salvages?? Even just seeing a lousy 10 out of 20 like I did during this patch was enough to raise suspicions. You should never go 0 for 3 for something that cost ~16s to craft when the salvage piece you want is only worth ~18s. That’s just Anet’s net&DB Coders being lazy. They’ve already got D.R. …so if they’re going to micromanage our Probabilities to the level DR does, then it’s only fair for them to go in the opposite direction when it comes to the stuff we had to pry away from that stupid D.R. situation. OTHERWISE, they’re just double dipping on their Magical Money-Sinks. …aka: Double Taxed Earnings… YEAH, I wanna hear Mr Smith up there try and justify that one with all his other real-world market prinicples. This is supposed to be a Casual Fantasy Game for crying out loud … who’s Fantasy tho? Lenin’s??
Please read a basic statistics book, an economics book, and the forum code of conduct.
CD is basically kicked out of EB atm, don’t even own much in our own wvw section.
bonus mf/exp doesnt fix the problem.
No armor damage does help though. I fight like a madman when there’s no penalty for dying.
I didn’t realize there were people who want orbs back as they were. Do you not remember how terrible they were for WvW as a whole?
If orbs do return they should either
A. Provide a non-advantageous buff (additional wxp, exp, karma, mf or no armor damage on death)
or
B. Provide a unique feature instead of a buff. This could be something like making the waypoint at the keep where it is held uncontestable, interacting with it gives 60 seconds of swiftness, placing it an alter creates a merchant that sells siege blueprints at half price and helps defend the lord room, etc.
All areas of the game except Orr have kills, veteran kills, and event completion daily achievements. If we want players in Orr more often, it should be included in the dailies like the other areas.
Repeating some of what others have said, but putting it all of my favorite suggestions in a bulleted list:
Desired Options for commanders:
- Gold Commander Icon – When someone joins a squad their commander’s icon shows as gold, but they are still able to see the other blue commanders on the map.
- Icon Visibility Options – Commanders should have options to set their icon to On, Off, or Visible only to Guild (many PvE guilds use the commander icon to help a large group stay together during various events)
- Squad members show on map – Squad members show up as gold dots on the map (as party members currently show in blue)
- Squad Info Panel – similar to a Guild Roster showing members, supply, class, zone
- Kick from Squad Option – Commanders should have the option (in the Info Panel mentioned above) to kick someone from the squad
- Commander Chat – A chat channel just for commanders
Great suggestions, I’m a little hesitant about commander chat though.
Thanks God Of Fissures! I’ll download them when I get home.
I normally have random players follow me in WvW even without the tag, so I finally decided to buy the commander tag to make it easier for them to find me.
I have two level 80 characters: a warrior and a guardian. As much as I wanted my warrior to be my main for WvW, I ended up going with guardian because warrior didn’t have the heals or CC to make a good roamer.
A Mausoleum is kind of gravesite, so given what the area beside it is called I would imagine the bloke inside must be Khan-Ur.
Strangely that was my first guess when I looked at the map. The real question is why would Khan-Ur tomb be chained shut?
Fear of Zhaitan’s influence?
Castaliea, I completely agree with the sentiment of your first post, but all of your suggestions sound like they would be OP, some even game-breaking. The idea of clearly defined player roles goes against the GW2 manifesto of any player being able to fill any role. You’ve got some good ideas in there, but they should be toned down a bit and provided as world ability tracks.
I agree wholeheartedly. If ordering an upgrade would just reward 100 wxp or something, players would actually have some incentive to do it rather than hope someone else does.
Why are we still NOT receiving credit for Dragon Bash achievements even AFTER the 13 June patch?
A. It’s working fine for me.
B. This is the wrong thread to ask in.
Thanks guys, I feel slightly better about it knowing that it still counts as a win.
If anyone thought that I’m suggesting autobalance be removed, that’s not at all the case. Casual matches would be a mess without autobalance. I just feel like there should be a way to avoid punishing players for performing well.
To add on-top. You think getting auto-balanced to lose is bad. Imagine playing 5 hours of straight matches with your friend and getting put on opposite teams almost every match (seriously, get a friend and play for 5 hours straight, you might get 2 matches on the same team) then having to switch teams then getting auto balanced off.
Or making the come back, then getting autoed off, making a comeback on the other team then … getting autoed back. But free glory is free glory
I often do play with a friend. Before each match we pick a color and both spam click to join that team. If we get forced onto opposite teams, we check during any downtime to see if the teams aren’t even, and as soon as they aren’t the person on the team with more players switches.
So here’s what happened in the last five games I played.
First match I joined late, on the losing team. I quickly capped and defended two of the points while everyone else fought over the third. We were soon winning 400 to 200, and some of the other team left, and I got autobalanced to the losing team with only a few points left in the match.
Second match was 2v3 most of the time and I was on the team with two. We still managed to win because the other guy on my team kept them busy while I capped points and killed both Svanir and the Chieftan.
Third match I had by far the highest score on my team, and we were winning, and I got autobalanced when it was too late to recover again.
Fourth match was a fair 5v5 and we won.
Fifth match, we were winning, and when it was about 350 to 200 some of the enemies left. I got autobalanced to the losing team again. But not only was I moved to the losing team, it let one of them swap and take the position I had just vacated. How did that happen?
This is so frustrating that I was doing so well today but simply got screwed by the game. I feel like something needs to be done to make this less drastic and unfair.

Opening stacks of containers or using hundreds of consumables (such as drops of liquid karma) can be tedious and time consuming. To solve this, I suggest adding “Use All” to the right-click options for inventory slots containing more than one container or consumable. After selecting that option, a confirmation dialogue should appear to protect from accidental clicks.
Last night I tried harvesting an iron ore node in one of the WvW borderlands using my Molten Alliance Mining Pick. The first three hits gave ruined ore chunks, but it preserved one more hit, and that fourth hit gave me one iron ore. I was at full health and not in combat at the time, but there was another player who started mining it at approximately the same time as me.
They should replace Shatterer, Tequatl, and Claw of Jormag’s boss music with “Bash the Dragon” during the event. That would be enough incentive for me.
1. Enable autobalance on DB
2. Kick AFK players from DB (and sPvP) after 90 seconds of no user input
Sounds like someone needs to get his mind out of the gutter.
Now I’m going to go play Dragon Ball…if you know what I mean.
Don’t forget about the Forgotten!
The event isn’t about getting a certain weapon skin, it’s about having fun. If you’re looking for skins to work towards, look to the shattered wings and the helms. The jade dragon weapons are just a bonus to those that are lucky, so stop treating them like some sort of plague that’s ruining the game. Their existence detracts nothing from the rest of the game.
Ease up on the whining, we aren’t even two days into the event yet, not all of the content has even been released, you still have plenty of time to get the weapon skin you want. Also, every enemy in the game has a (high) chance to drop a coffer, so complaints about jade weapons being a cash grab are completely unfounded.
That being said, I do hope there’s one guaranteed jade weapon ticket per account for players who participate in some part of the event that hasn’t happened yet.

/wiki Living Story
ALL of the story should be told in-game. There should be NO reason one would have to go to a 3rd party website to learn the storyline.
Third party? That’s the official wiki. lordkrall even gave you the command to access it from the game client.
My problem isn’t the odds, it’s that they put in a negligible money sink that only the super-rich can afford with rewards that are geared more towards casual players.
This game just doesn’t make sense. (Outside of buy gems > get stuff.) >:C
What’s wrong with a money sink for a purely cosmetic item? How does having in-game items cost in-game money not make sense? Plus, 28g is hardly something “that only the super-rich can afford”.
Its been said already but if you miss doing an achievement then you only missed doing that achievement. No other consequences. Nothing bad will come of it, so dont worry!
You have lost all potential to ever get 100%.
Which pretty much kills the appeal in doing anything in a game for some.
No one has ever completed every title track in GW1, and I expect GW2 to be the same. Even OCD completionists (such as myself) need to realize that getting 100% on every achievement will never happen. Anet keeps adding more, and even in the distant future when they stop, some achievements will require such a time commitment that it makes getting all of them impossible. I still do as much as I have time for, but I’m fine not defending Stonemist Castle for 5 years without sleep, and I can live with my lack of the Mad King’s Tower achievement.
Players of any level under 80 (even 79) will get upscaled in Fractals of the Mists, WvW, or certain areas related to the Living Story. Not all areas upscale, but any area below level 80 will downscale players in the same way.
I hope they put it (and other Dragon Bash songs) on https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/
So you’re saying that they should remove waypoints and add mounts, because that would waste players’ time, which is what you consider end game content? I’m sorry, but that makes no sense to me. I strongly prefer that they keep adding fun and interesting content rather than steal the worst aspects of other MMOs (wasting time and grinding).
I hope they’re still going to make the last two parts of Guild Wars Beyond (Elona and Ebonhawke), but I would understand if they’ve been scrapped for GW2 development.
Please add “Leeching” to the reasons that we can report someone. I’m sick of matches where half my team is afk to get their daily matches played.

Those maps are old, and the overlays are mostly there to indicate where stuff is.
AFAIR the walls are just overlays too, hidden somewhere among the billion other textures.
Since the map doesn’t change when the walls go down, I feel like there’s probably a newer version that just has all of the walls in tact. Either such a map or a walls overlay would work fine.
Actually would it be possible to get the same maps without all of the walls knocked down?
Does anyone know what font is used for location names on the map?
And appending to my list:
6. Add sentry statuses to match details and add them to objective names (with understandable names)
Colorblind as well and is certainly helps me. Speaking of that, my armor must be the tackiest armor in game. I know I can read the names of the colors but that doesn’t really mean much if I can’t match them. I’m not complaining I think it is funny.
Please post a picture!
Possible, yes. It could be accurate to some extent too, but obviously not certain.
It would be interesting to see how the existence of such an app would affect player behavior. Some players would try to move to counter their opponents’ next predicted moves, while others would constantly trying to remain unpredictable.
Also, don’t expect anything like this from Arenanet.
Quick update.
We had a fix that appeared to solve the issue in this build but it may only be solving it for new characters. A more comprehensive fix is being worked out on our internal servers and we are working towards getting this live asap.
Bugs like this worry me about how clean the GW2 source code is.
- A concerned developer & gamer
PvE enthusiasts tend to like SAB more. PvP enthusiasts tend to like Crab Toss more. I personally loved SAB and think Crab Toss is okay but not great.
I think a practice instance would be great to lessen the learning curve, and taking it out of the dailies would help it feel like less of a chore.
I use /say chat to talk to the people around me in PvE about events, ask for help, or just casual conversation.
In WvW, I use it very frequently to instruct or warn people the people around me. “need supply on this ram”, “~20 incoming west”, “kill that dolyak asap”, “2-3 on me to take the camp”, “outer north gate down”, “take the dredge and follow through to rogue’s”, “don’t waste supply on the walls til their treb is down”, “don’t chase the thief, he’s just wasting our time”, “behind us”, “supply check”, “2m left on [Righteous Indignation]”, “get inside now”, “no more rams”, “brb, someone man this treb, full range”, “waypoint and run back if you die”, “get the camp before the tower”, “ignore the grub”. Those are all examples of things I often use /say chat for in WvW, and the chat range makes them reach exactly who I want them to.
And I’m on the Sorrow’s Furnace server, which isn’t full but still has a large population.
I’m not a RPer but I think the /say range is perfect as it is.
Since Taobella’s and hahawinner’s concerns has been addressed since they were posted, I’m ressing this thread.
They can and do handle client-side hacking. They do want people to discuss hacks so they can counter them, and don’t sweep them under the rug. They ban players based on evidence, not number of reports. They do have the tools to verify whether or not players are hacking, but they disclose very little information about them. And there are things that can be done about hacking.
Then please tell me why, after all this time, and given the prevalence of hacking in game, they’ve still not added a “Hacking” report feature to the in-game reporting. If the company is a dedicated as you say, then why have they not done that?
Adding such a feature has to be a lot easier than adding a multi-colored jellyfish (since that addition seems to have taken at least one developers full time attention for over 6 months).
You’re intended to report them for botting. Doing so flags the reported player for the GMs, who then look at logs an analyze that player’s behavior shortly before you reported them to determine whether they are using a script, client modification, exploit, etc. It could say “Botting, exploiting, etc” to be a little clearer, but it is there.
I just had this happen again, this time with the first post at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/WvW-Awesome-Balance/first
The simple solution is to make any weapon skill usage cause reveal rather than only ones that hit. This would prevent the Smoke Screen / Cluster Bomb combo from granting unlimited stealth without destroying the stealth mechanic itself.
1. Proper objective names
2. “Contested” boolean for each objective in match details
3. Status of upgrades for each objective in match details
4. Add mercenary camp statuses to match details
5. “Outmanned” list for each map in match details that lists which servers are outmanned on that map (empty list if none)

Thanks zeeZ, that helps out a lot! The labels have some typos and the orb pedestals are shown, but I’ll use some photoshop/gimp magic to make things work.
They’re working on doing oauth2 support through the API to allow people to log in. Until then you won’t be able to get any player/account specific data.
I would also like a high resolution WvW map, preferably with the capture points in white rather than the usual red/green/blue. (I think the OP and I have the same idea)
I’ma take your karka’s style. I’ma take your karka’s style.
No for real, ask a karka, can I have his karka shells?

How come the Hom Jelly gets all the attention what about the rest of the jellyfish very biased in my opinion..
Because it was the only one with a known graphical error.
