Darn, I was hoping this thread was about something else.

I haven’t had problems with this. My character (who has access to the gates) simply talks to his order representative and is moved through the door so he can use the gate to return to Fort Trinity.

What seems like a bug to me is the fact that I can travel to any Order’s base from Fort Trinity, but can only travel back with the Order I chose earlier in my story. At this point in the story my character is a Commander of the Pact. To not be allowed to use another Order’s gate to travel back to the Pact base seems both odd and silly (and I’m pretty sure some gate guard’s head would be doing the proverbial roll).

The TP doesn’t fabricate items.

If 1750 bags of skritt shinies get dumped onto the TP at the same time, it’s probably from a farming bot.

The supply bundle consumable item in WvW is a rare item and can be received in a wooden chest. So…if you have auto-loot on, you won’t see the item consumed (because it’s done automatically), and it seems like you didn’t get anything.

A simple animation would be a good solution to players not noticing this; something like the one that draws attention to the guild icon at the top of the screen when a new guild buff is activated.

I just wish the hints for each bounty were accurate. My guild failed a bounty because we couldn’t find Trikksa, whose hint says that she’ll be near Steeleye Span, and we actually found her half an hour later in the complete opposite corner of the map.

Then you track down the one closest to an area you have. It makes perfect sense that an end-game activity would require you to do some exploration to participate.

The number of badges scales to you character level, so you’ll likely to get 3-4.

I don’t see why the +20% experience infusion is getting left out. That’s +20% skill points that can be turned into gold via mystic forge. Even if it isn’t favored, it should at least be listed with the others.

That’s not what he’s saying. Gems are created by buying them with real world currency; those gems are unlimited. The gems being purchased with in game currency are limited because you can only exchange for gems that other players are selling.

5 playable races x 2 genders = 10 character combinations / 10 voices

Let’s pretend that the PC has 2,000 lines of voiced dialogue in the game. With 10 voices that’s 20,000 lines of VO just for the player. Add one more PC voice per race/gender combination and you just doubled that line count to 40k. Unless you have a limitless budget, those lines have to be taken away from other content.

So while we could have added two voice options for each race/gender combination, it would have resulted in there being no ambient VO or events being silent.

A possible solution would be to modify voice pitches based on character height, build, or starting personality. This would not require any more voice recording and would give players all a more unique sound. I find it strange that large, fierce characters have the same voice as small charming characters.

I do love the scaling, but it can be frustrating sometimes. For example, one time I was destroying drake eggs in Malchor’s Leap. Each egg I killed completed 10% of the event, until someone walked through without helping, and each egg I killed only gave me 8%. Also, the other day 1 other person and I did the Vollym’s Battle Pit events with 3 people standing around afk, making it significantly harder than usual.

You see the secret ending that reveals that Zommoros is actually the spirit of Koss, and that the Krytan government is being puppeteered by a gang of breakdancing dolyaks.

If they’re so good and being sold at such a low price, then buy them yourself.

These really under-priced items are a result of players using crafting guides that tell them all to make a ton of the same item. They can’t sell any because supply greatly outweighs demand.

I leveled two Chefs to 400 without any guide, and I use all of the resulting consumables, aside from a few that sold for over 1s each. If more players would craft like that, the food market wouldn’t be in the rut it is now.

-A toggle of some sort to swap Twilight and Sunrise appearances at any time.
-Improved, unique, or exaggerated day and night characteristics for Eternity.
-Footprints. I really miss those.

My hope is that Eternity will soon get the attention it deserves. Nearly four months after creation, and I’m still holding my breath.

If you wanted to be able to switch between Sunrise and Twilight at will you should have kept them. They should add the footprints in asap, but I’m against the other two suggestions.

I’d love to see a fix to the incorrect mailbox count bug, mostly for the sake of Jeffrey and everyone else who have to let players know about it every day, but also for those players who think things got lost in the mail because of it. (I’ll admit, I was one of those players a while back).

As mentioned by John Smith, the EU has a 20% tax on certain transactions that include GW2 players buying gems, while the US has no such tax. Anet passes that cost on to the player, making that 0.75 essentially a 0.95.

Arenanet is based in the US, and therefore tracks its own money in USD, so to them the value of 1 USD is essentially static. From that perspective, the value of the Euro is slightly unstable, and that additional 5% cost is built in to protect against inflation. As the value of the USD goes down, Anet receives the same amount of income in terms of USD, but as the value of the Euro goes down, Anet receives less income in terms of USD.

My recommendation for those who got rifles is to sell it on the trading post and use the money to buy something you can use. I doubt Anet has any means of telling whether a rifle came from a laurel box or any other source.

Edit: Although my preferred but highly unlikely solution would be for Anet to make rangers able to use rifles.

I love my personal story and most of the missions are awesome, except for very few flaws. I almost shed some tears at the end of the Claw Island step because I was really immersed and could relate to my companions (even though the dragon fight before was kind of dull because the NPCs seemed to just stand there and do nothing, see http://i.imgur.com/Hzkqz.jpg – that really seems to be a general problem in many places).

I actually had the opposite problem. One time I needed to go afk right after starting that fight, so I stood out of range, came back a few minutes later and the NPCs had the dragon down to 5% health.

I’d also like to note that there are some crafted items that currently have 0 listed for sale on the TP. If you craft those, you can sell them at essentially whatever price you want and make a sizable profit. I recently sold a few crafted items for 200-300% profit because no one else was crafting them.

OP, the sense of opportunity in the economy that you’re talking about is the ability to make a profit from other players. To profit from crafting, you have to sell to people who are too lazy to make it themselves or too ignorant to know that crafting what they want would be cheaper. To profit from flipping on items on the TP, you have to sell to people who are too impatient to wait, even though it would save them money. GW2 gives such a high visibility to the market that its hard to con people out of their money, and I can’t say that’s a bad thing.

I’m a regular WvW player in Sorrow’s Furnace and I have to admit, it feels like Fergusen’s Crossing and Eredon Terrace gave up a few weeks ago. At least having a new opponent instead of Sorrow’s Furnace would raise morale enough to bring more of them to the battlefield.

i love to zerg like there is no tomorrow, but in this game, zerging is the only game in town.

in other games, superior skill and game play can beat superior numbers to various degree. in this game it’s vitually impossible to beat 3 times your own number in open field. people get rezzed / self rezz faster than you can bring them down/finnish them. coupled with the fact that a killed bunny can instantly get up a bucketload of players again and fighting superior numbers becomes all but impossible.

no other game rewards numbers over skill as much as GW2.

I usually fight larger groups than my own, and usually win. I’ve even won out 1v20 while defending. Last night I fought off 4 invaders from taking a supply camp as a level 26 mesmer because I distracted them with clones and NPCs while I used the supply to quickly make a ballista to shoot them down. Numbers have a lot of power, but skill has more, and if you think otherwise, you need more practice.

That was only for September 2012, because there was a bug that caused some players’ August monthly achievements to continue into September.

Interesting that the most farmed part of the game wouldn’t be affected by diminishing returns.

But still in my mind, the Comander Tome should be bought with Honor Badges, and not gold. Someone that has never been to WvW can just buy one and play Commander without a clue of what he’s doing.

Badges are too easily gained from the jump puzzles, and people have already bought them for 100g. I think what we need is a visible distinguisher based on WvW achievements. Perhaps hovering over the commander icon on the map should show the commander’s total achievement points earned from WvW achievements.

That might be a bit much, and bordering on racism, but it gave me an idea…

Why not offer players an option to region-lock our accounts so that they can’t be accessed from other countries? Then if we decide to move or travel, we could turn it off temporarily, and re-lock it once we’re settled again. It could save a lot of accounts from being stolen.

I hope they revert this change, it sounds terrible and makes me not want to play most of my characters.

I’ve mentally gone through those first two posts before and think the current implementation is a good solution.

If you’re annoyed about being knocked off a cliff, then don’t back yourself up to one against enemies that have “Knocks back” in their description. And if you’re looking for that great feeling of pushing someone off a cliff, try bringing some knockback skills to WvW. Not only does it work on other players, but it’s even more satisfying than knocking an NPC off a cliff ever could be.

If you could rank without the consumable then the consumables would be pointless. As much as I’d like to rank people sometimes when I kill them in WvW, I prefer the way it is now.

Also, I wish people would stop referring to “finish” as “stomp”, especially since stomp is actually a skill, but now we have a dev saying it too, it looks like we’re doomed to confusing slang…

The reason you get the same reward regardless of how many people attacked your target is to encourage cooperation. Better loot for soloing things would encourage bots and discourage cooperation.

There are mounts in this game, they’re called siege golems. And they should remain the only mounts.

How about The Shattered Keep in Sparkfly Fen? It’s the only place in the game that I have frame rate problems.

There are so many incorrect theories in this thread that I feel I should help set things straight.

1. The ecto salvage rate has not changed since release.

2. Magic find does not affect salvage results.

3. Inconsistent short-term results are consistent with random chance.

That is all.

I don’t have this problem in Bandithaunt Caverns, but my frame rate does drop dramatically in The Shattered Keep (with the pirate ghosts) in Sparkfly Fen, which is likely because of the same bug.

I’d just like to say that I’ve had a lot of fun fighting Eredon Terrace and Ferguson’s Crossing these past few days.

Highlights:
1. Making 10+ golems in the middle of the night and taking all of Eternal Battlegrounds in a single triumphant march.
2. Making 4 golems, taking FC’s keep with them, and then having a golem dance party in stonemist castle.
3. Defending the hills keep, alone, from >20 attackers with siege, and shortly after defending it from ~50 attackers with only 6 of us.
4. Trying to defend a tower from FC while massively outnumbered. Once we got their numbers reduced and it started looking like we had a chance, we realized that ET had been waiting for the right moment to strike, killing all of FC and taking our tower. We lost out, but it was still epic.
5. Using rifle butt to knock FC’s commander off a cliff. He and 4 others were setting up catapults by the wall of our hills keep and I was the only one to notice. The other 4 left to get supply, so I jumped down, hit him with rifle butt, but he only fell a short distance. We charged at each other and both went down within 4 seconds. I finished him in vengeance, and we were both left dead in the snow. Right afterward he came back with his party with a few extras in tow. I went back to defend the wall, with 3 more who had already beat me back to it. They had 2 catapults and an arrow cart up, so I decided to sacrifice myself to take destroy their siege weapons. I jumped down and destroyed both catapults and two invaders while the other 3 defenders not only kept me alive, but killed the arrow cart and the rest, except the commander. I rushed at the commander and quickly killed him (again) with the other 3 shooting him from the wall.

I’m sorry, but I would love to see this thread result in a bunch of people transferring to Maguuma, using all of their WvW supply to build flame rams in various awkward places (such as the well in the EB jump puzzle) and post videos of them on youtube. It would be hilarious, but unfortunately poor sportsmanship. Or maybe we could have an “Awkward Flame Rams” thread here on the forums.

I understand Arenanet’s technical limitations and reason for two datacenters, but that just makes me wonder how it all worked so perfectly in the original Guild Wars.

I think “unique events” achievement tracks for individual areas would be a great way to get players to play all areas of the game. Just a suggestion.

I think their philosophy on this is perfect. It’s not the first time they’ve rolled back achievement points, anyway, and it’s not like most people noticed the first time they did anyway….

They haven’t done it since release (last time was right before release), and they aren’t planning to now.

I’ve done this a few times in Sorrow’s Furnace and never seen it bugged. The land sharks are pretty cool though, I almost feel like I missed out on something.

Thanks for fixing the /wiki command. It was directing to wiki.guildwars.com in the first BWE, so I reported it, and it was fixed in the second BWE. I know it was simply adding a “2” somewhere, but it made a big difference.

It would be awesome if they actually implemented the commando, tanks, etc, but only for April 1 in WvW.

Defenders are barely able to stand on their own walls due to mass AoE, let alone actually shoot back. You better had siege placed and ready, because there’s no way you’re deploying a full defence set up before they break the gate. And they better arrive within the 30 minutes it takes the blueprints to despawn. But why bother? The zerg is going to roll over you either way.

Last week I singlehandedly defended a keep (without guild buffs) against a group of 20-25 invaders who tried setting up two arrow carts. They came back a little while later with about 50 people and 6 of us held them off despite that they had set up a catapault, flame ram, and two trebuchets.

The point being that defending a keep or a tower is far from hopeless, even if you’re outnumbered. It sounds like your own attitude and inexperience are what keep you from succeeding.

Really? There are hundreds of thousands of items on the trading post being sold at 1c above the price they can be sold to merchants for. After the 5% listing fee and 10% TP tax, those are all being sold at a loss.

I tried the individual recipe 20 times last night. I got 11 clovers from my first 13, and none from my last 7. Luck is interesting sometimes.

One of my guildies got Dusk on his second try last night, and one of my friends got Dusk as a drop in WvW a while back. RNG does occasionally pay out.

I don’t understand what happened to you or what you want done about it. My best guess is that you disconnected during a story quest so now you have to start that quest from the beginning, and now you want the devs to magically let you skip the quest. None of the personal story quests are that long, so they don’t take long to redo. It’s also not a bug, so if I’m correct, this thread is very poorly named.

Not yet, but Mystic is right, it’s a bug and they’re working to fix it, but it seems to be low priority.

I don’t believe so. They’re trying to fix legendary transmutation but I don’t think its high priority.

Please read this entire post before commenting, especially the note at the bottom.

I want to start by saying that I was not one of the players banned for the snowflake exploit, nor do I even know anyone who was. I’ve played both Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 since their respective betas without ever botting or exploiting. I’ve reported everyone that I had strong enough evidence to believe that they were botting, and have consistently encouraged other players not to exploit even if they know they won’t get banned. I’m very unsympathetic towards exploiters in general.

That being said, I believe the snowflake exploiters should not receive a permanent ban. I do believe their bans are justified, just that they should not be permanent. This exploit was relatively mild compared to others that come to mind, so I don’t see why its punishment was stricter.

The ideal way to handle the snowflake exploiters would be to punish them with a temporary ban, and prevent them from receiving any benefits from their ill-gotten gains.

My suggestion is to make snowflake exploiter bans temporary (duration to be determined by Arenanet) and roll-back exploiters accounts to right when Wintersday began, before the exploit, to remove any potential profit from said exploit.
