Sorrow’s Furnace Commander
“You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!”-Colin Johanson
Fractals of the Mists is already one of the most rewarding parts of the game, and already has a lot of people farming it regularly. Rather than increasing the rewards, the skins should be purchasable with Pristine Fractal Relics so players don’t have to rely on RNG.
what?
I get, on average, 1g from a 1h 40min fractal run(48). meanwhile, cof yields 7g an hour and is substantially easier. what I’m doing is ~12 times less “rewarding”. it also requires specialized gear and a time investment to get here.
I typically get 1.5g from 45 minute fractal runs, and those are on the lower difficulties. Of course CoF is more rewarding because the only thing more rewarding than CoF farming is power trading. I said that fractals is one of the most rewarding, not the most rewarding.
You won’t see a large expansion from Anet for Guild Wars 2.
Why?
Because they allocate too much of their development towards temporary content.
You must not have played the first Guild Wars.
Again you guys are missing the point, yes it’s a group event. Problem is how do you do a group event now that the amount of players on the servers has dropped so much. Even still before that it was a problem as well.
I don’t know about your server, but when I want to fight the giant I usually say “Nageling giant up” in map chat and 5-10 people show up a minute later. You don’t even need those people, like we said it can be killed by one or two skilled players. You also don’t need to fight it; if you don’t think the reward is worth fighting it, then don’t fight it.
I went to bed early last night so I didn’t get to ask Seed yet, I’ll try to remember tonight.
No offense taken, and I know I sound a bit bitter so I wouldn’t take any
Anyway, I’m just reporting what I read on a guild forum.
edit : Deleted my message, I don’t want people to get too curious about it. Let’s just say I heard differently and leave it at that.
I wish everyone on the forums was as level-headed as you.
Increasing the rate by adding new ways to get WXP sounds great. I just hope they don’t do what they did with karma where they added new ways that gave more and more of it to the point where everyone has surplus karma flowing out their ears.
@Feral I’m allies with Seed, I’ll try to figure out who it was so I can tell you how they did it. I’ve seen thieves take players down in two hits before, so it could have been that. Were you being upscaled or have any broken armor? Are you sure only the one attacked you (I see two there)?
@Johnson (No offense, you sound well-intentioned.) Everything you said in that post is false. They can and do handle client-side hacking. They do want people to discuss hacks so they can counter them, and don’t sweep them under the rug. They ban players based on evidence, not number of reports. They do have the tools to verify whether or not players are hacking, but they disclose very little information about them. And there are things that can be done about hacking.
According to the wiki: “Stealth can still be broken by succesfully using some non-damaging skills such as shadow stepping or teleporting.”
There was a similar bug in the first Guild Wars where your client could get out of sync with the server on how much health you had, making it look like you were alive with 0 health.
That’s not a bug at all. It’s a group event, it isn’t meant to be soloed. That being said, I’ve done it with only two people before, it just takes some well timed dodging and ressing if the other person goes down.
The problem here is just that dust prices are being driven up by recipes to make consumables and legendary gifts. Dust is used to make potions, tuning crystals, maintenance oils, and sharpening stones. Also, each legendary weapon requires 250 or 500 crystalline dust.
You get 5 pulses of 3 seconds of stealth. That gives you 15 seconds total, including the 4 seconds that you’re standing in it.
Wow, so many people who don’t understand something so simple. That article is clearly not written by NCSoft or ArenaNet, and if the writer believes that
Since the launch of Guild Wars 2, NCSOFT and ArenaNet have released more than an expansion’s worth of content
then sure he has low standards for expansions, but that’s absolutely no reason for people to start a witch-hunt for ArenaNet’s marketing team. That is one journalist’s opinion and is in no way a form of deception from the makers of the game.
There’s some sort of bug related to passiflora and blooming passiflora. I was able to harvest them again last night, only two hours after first harvesting them (daily reset did not occur during that time, neither time was in an overflow). Then it got weirder. My friend, who was in my party, mapped in while I was halfway through gathering them. He ran to the nearest passiflora, and before he got to it all of the passiflora nodes on my map blinked out and I couldn’t harvest any more.
A. I don’t think that’s a bug.
B. If you want a response to a problem you’re having, insults and sarcasm aren’t the way to get it.
WvW was never meant as a place to obtain loot
You’re still going to pick it up if it’s there. The point is that picking it up takes away from the fight.
Fractals of the Mists is already one of the most rewarding parts of the game, and already has a lot of people farming it regularly. Rather than increasing the rewards, the skins should be purchasable with Pristine Fractal Relics so players don’t have to rely on RNG.
Make sure you have the latest version of whichever browser you’re using and that you have javascript enabled. Beyond that, your best bet is to try a different browser.
I have to say, I am a little disappointed that, despite asking for feedback and receiving it (hidden among a sea of unrelated complaints), the “Blue Jellyfish” is still rainbow and now the “Rainbow Jellyfish” is blue.
Mechanics:
All traps apply the Revealed debuff for 10 seconds on the user when the user begins setting them.
No two traps from the same team can be set within 1200 range of each other.
Setting a trap causes a 15 minute cooldown before the player is able to set another trap.
Bubble Trap (25 badges, 875 karma / 10 supply, 6 seconds)
Creates a water bubble for 25 seconds, forcing enemies inside the bubble to use underwater skills. (credit to SF WvW regulars for this idea)
Barbed Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
Applies cripple and 10 stacks of vulnerability to enemies for 10 seconds.
Sticky Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
Immobilizes enemies for 5 seconds.
Flame Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
For 15 seconds, enemies passing through this trap apply burning to their adjacent allies.
Launch Trap (25 badges, 875 karma / 10 supply, 6 seconds)
Blinks for 3 seconds after being triggered, then launches nearby foes away from it. The blinking is visible to all players.
Grapple Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
Pulls all nearby enemies to the first enemy that triggers this trap.
(edited by EnemyCrusher.7324)
Post your trap suggestions here. Let’s keep it clean, constructive, and realistic.
Existing traps:
Supply Removal Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
Removes 5 supply from enemies.
Stealth Disruptor Trap (15 badges, 525 karma / 10 supply, 4 seconds)
Removes stealth from enemies and reveals them for 30 seconds, preventing stealth.

Player Shops/Merchant Districts:
A nice thing to see would be the ability for players to set up their own shops. I can see how this could become messy though. Plays could litter the towns streets with their shops. To solve this problem, in towns their could be merchant districts which contain designated areas upon which players could set up their shops.
Merchant Districts could also contain all the other forms of trade in the town. Including NPC merchants, auction houses, etc.Player Housing
Players could purchase houses (Each in their own instance similar to Guild Halls), and could customize them and invite other players to their houses.Other Methods of Travel
New methods of travel would be nice to see. Instead of just being able to walk or map travel, players could potentially use mounts to travel, ride in a wagon with other players, take a boat, etc.
Player shops:
These would be obsolete because of the BLTP. The same applies for any sort of auction system.
Player housing:
We have a home instance with a tiny bit of customization based on your personal story, but I would like to see more customization to them based on personal story, achievements, or even guild contributions. I would also love to see guild halls similar to those in the first Guild Wars, but designed more around player interaction rather than GvG.
Other methods of travel:
The prospect of mounts just sounds like a WoW copycat idea. If they gave an advantage, there would be a huge uproar, and if they didn’t, no one would care (eg Riding Broom).
I have mixed feelings about mass transportation. I could see a ski-lift type system going between Hoelbrak and Snowden Drifts being minorly successful. A guild airship ride to any waypoint (purchased with merits and influence) could work great for moving guild groups and promoting intra-guild socialization. On the other hand, any type of mass transportation that moves players through a zone would need to be part of that zone rather than part of that player’s repertoire. A pact ferry between the ends of Straights of Devastation would be cool, especially if it incorporated an event where players had to dodge undead sharks leaping out of the water and throw tow-lines to players who got knocked off.
Just take out the trap all together, We were doing just fine without them.
This.
Traps are a mechanic with a lot of potential, they need a lot of work to get there, but taking them out completely is a terrible solution.
No, it’s not a terrible solution. It’s the correct one.
Instead of using them logistically or purposefully, enemies are just dropping them randomly on the field in the middle of zerg fights. Or on mining nodes. Or any other number of troll locations.
They are not a mechanic with a lot of potential. They are a troll’s tool, best used in trolling the other team. They need to be removed. They were a pointless addition, only made “safe” for the game by virtue of the fact that they’re expensive.
Since when is one team damaging the other team “trolling”? And “No, you’re wrong” isn’t much of a counter-point.
At this point taking out Traps is a very good move for WvW. Traps are just, simply broken.
The use of Traps is completely pointless. They are far to expensive with such a small chance of seeing it inflict meaningful damage. The only way for Traps, specifically Supply Trap because the Reveal Trap is just useless, to be usefull is if you can get them to go off right in the middle of the enemy zerg. And only Thieves can manage that.
Please read Simonoly’s post (right before yours).
They scapped Orbs for the same reason. They really need to go back to the drawing board on these.
Actually, the reason orbs were taken out is because they gave a competitive advantage to the team that was already winning, effectively destroying the other teams’ chance of a comeback. That reason is completely unrelated to any of the reasons given to remove traps.
I just had this happen with a post that was quoting the one before it. I clicked +1 on the first post and the +1 button turned grey on the original post and the one quoting it.
For the record, they’re the two posts right after my own on https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Arrow-carts-can-hit-inside-without-zoomhacks/first

Major thanks goes out to Peter Fries and Scott McGough for coming up with the term Crab Toss as well the most excellent title in game: Crabgrabber, which I will wear forever.
I don’t know about most excellent; Yakslapper definitely gives it a run for its money.
You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!
Time for a new signature…
Yestersay I spent 700k karma and got 1 lodestone, just saying.
Yesterday I spent 1m karma on boxes and got about 6 lodestones, a worthless mini, an almost worthless potion, a few gold worth on unidentified objects, about 50 obsidian shards, and a return of 750k karma (with maximum karma boosts). If you use and spend the karma you get each time, you can get good stuff with enough karma boosts and some luck, but you have to do a lot of clicking.
I sent an invite to an enemy after accidentally (somehow) putting an arrow cart build site on the wall of their tower. He was running around it (probably confused) and I just wanted to explain how it got there.
Accept only from enemys that are from decent guilds. Most of guilds won’t recruit flamers .
Guild Tag is a big one. If you don’t know and respect the Tag don’t bother yourself.
I only take invites from people I know in WvW, otherwise, nope.
In WvW, most of us will only recognize the largest WvW guilds on enemy servers. If anything, players in those guilds are more likely to be trolls than players in smaller guilds. Huge guilds don’t become huge by being exclusive.
If you just killed someone and they send you an invite, it’s best to decline because they probably just want to call you a hacker or something. If a player who killed you or you haven’t fought yet sends you an invite, it’s more likely a friendly gesture (especially if you’re in a jump puzzle). Make sure not to accept anyone to your party if you have party members who don’t want their locations exposed or are discussing strategy in party chat.
As Johnson noted, this is still broken. I died in sPvP and my character dodged immediately after respawning at the waypoint, without me pressing anything but the W key to run forward.
I had the same problem the other day.
Since you don’t have to be level 75 to buy the omelet, I think this achievement is fair. Just have your brother buy one now and he can use it when he does reach level 75. If the one inventory slot it will consume becomes a problem, consider helping him get a bigger bag or another bank slot.
Aha, I found the support response to asking whether the long lob is an exploit: http://i.imgur.com/ev5GU.png
I just figured that keeping the name “Dragon Festival” would sound like a celebration of the elder dragons, while the people would much rather “Bash” them than celebrate them.
PS I really hope Dragon Arena makes a return appearance, and that it hasn’t changed too much.
I’m guessing that you wouldn’t want to use this program if it didn’t give you some sort of advantage. Regardless of that, you’re asking to use a third party program to modify the game client’s behavior, which is a violation of the EULA.
Just take out the trap all together, We were doing just fine without them.
This.

I think you’re right, they should make it to where a commander tag is not visible in wvw unless they have completed all of the following.
25k kills reasonable, except zerg kills don’t count. Anyone tagged by more than 5 people does not count towards your 25k kills.
500 gold spent on upgrades has to be gold earned in wvw, not pve or bought with gems.
2500 keep defenses and captures, they should all be captures or defenses of smc.
How many do you still have to complete?
Sometimes I wish there was a -1 button.
As for SF, you guys can stay in your corner of EB and we will stay in ours =P. At around 1:15 you brought that huge zerg around our keep and I though you where going to hit us… Well good battles all around and just wished we had a bit more people. Tried to keep our points up for our Oceanatics and Ms. Starkk.
Haha, sorry. I started attacking Bravost and two of my guildies and one other joined me. We built a ram, a few more showed up and built another ram. Next thing I knew I had about 30 people (including two commanders) following me, so I decided to keep it going. At least we let you keep your keep.
hahaha some troll had built a bunch of alpha golems in our keep using our keep supply earlier in the day so… we finally decided to put them to use. PvGrub, superior t1 tactics. Got 5 badges from that chest, totally worth it.
I thought you guys were joking…

Those release notes aren’t up yet, there’s still a chance to add it.
Edit: I spoke too soon, they went up as I posted that. XD At least they’re editable.
The information that Martin provided after the last quarterly earnings call about this topic hasn’t changed.
Our primary focus as a company is making the core game experience as amazing as possible, through new features, content, and the exciting changes and additions to the world through our Living World releases.
So there are no plans at all for a future expansion? Were confused now.
There are, but not this year. They want to get the Living Story system rolling smoothly before making any expansions.
Oh…this explains the bug I encountered the other day. In WvW, I was downed while immobilized or stunned or something. The enemies then finished me off, and an ally ressed me about two minutes. As soon as I was ressed, my character did a dodge roll without me touching the keyboard. And here I thought he was just excited.

There was suspicious activity, but I think you’ve provided enough evidence to prove your case. And you’ve even been polite the whole way through, unlike most players who this happens to. I hope you get your account back!
I started noticing this bug a week or two ago, especially in WvW. Around the same time another bug appeared that will cause you to keep re-appearing at the top of a fall right after you hit the ground when you fall down a steep slope.
Will we ever get a Keg Brawl fix patch?
Can we at least get an official response to which I can point people who don’t believe that the “long lob” is an exploit?
I think part of our (SF’s) problem is that we’ve gotten to used to winning in the past few months. Last week was the first time we didn’t have the most points at the end of the week, and people started giving up. Yesterday DH took one of the keeps in our borderlands and half of our players on the map left, saying things like “too many dh” or “pointless to fight back”. If we all give up at the first sign of resistance we’re never going to win again.
Here we go, good luck and have fun this week everyone!
No way I am reading 47 bloody pages. Did Anet say if they are going to fix yet?
There are two responses from Devon Carver, both on page 33:
I’d like to shed some light on our thinking with this AC change as well as tell you all what we are doing right now to balance it.
Firstly, when siege weapons were originally created, they had the intent of being really good at some things and not so good at others. The arrow cart is intended to be the anti-personal siege weapon. It is intended that arrow carts are all about controlling an area through damage. If you remain in the area that is being hit by the arrow cart, you will die. You can however, move out of the space and/or find a new way to attack the intended target. That being said, they are not intended to be so good against other siege weapons and we are in the process of addressing that right now. We are also addressing their range when upgraded to be more in line with the range of ballistas.
Secondly, this change is going to require new tactics and those tactics include things like using ballista and catapults to destroy arrow carts. With that in mind, we’ve been looking more closely at the numbers of all the siege weapons and there are definitely some changes that need to be made to bring them in line with their intent. We are going to take a holistic pass at siege weapons in the coming months and drop a rebalance of all of them to get them to more closely align with what they should be doing.
Finally, the feedback you all provide is a very useful part of this whole process. WvW is a living, breathing game type and any changes we make have numerous consequences that don’t become fully visible until everyone starts interacting with them and devising new strategies. Our goal is to provide a complex combat space that rewards skill, tactics, and ingenuity and while we haven’t fully achieved that goal yet, I like to think we are getting there.
To be a little clearer. The fixes to arrow carts will be coming quickly. We are already putting those in and testing them. Those should bring them more in line with what we expect them to be.
WvW is inside of a game called GuildWars bro..
And the games are named after a series of events in the lore, not a type of PvP. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_vs_guild
weird, has no mention of lore anywhere
I don’t see your point. GvG is a type of PvP in the first Guild Wars game. It has nothing to do with the name of the name of the series, but I can see where people could be confused. The series is named for the Guild Wars, which are a part of the lore, and you can read about in the link I posted.
Im pretty sure he was talking about the reasoning behind the name and not a feature in the game…
Correct.
None of those ‘fixes’ helped balance whatsoever. But I’m assuming you don’t PvP. Or WvW. Ever see the Arrow Cart post patch?
Most of them did help balance. The arrow cart change on the other hand trashed balance. If you read the WvW forums you would know that I do WvW, and have already stated my discontent with the latest arrow cart buffs.
Anyway…any updates on the Rainbow Jellyfish, Jon?
Those are probably just some of the developers’ characters on the test server.
All of this proves to me that Designers do not listen to players, or even know what is happening with half of the gameplay.
I, and many others, asked them to fix the rainbow jellyfish. The reason this thread exists in the first place is because they are listening to players. Also, did you read Jon’s post at all?
Post your thoughts on this internet forum thread and I will read them.
Then why the hell hasn’t anything else been fixed? Why is he wasting time and patch money for a bloody JELLYFISH instead of fixing Necromancer, Warrior, Engineer, Thief, or any of the other problematic classes? Rangers need nerfing, HGH Engineer needs rethinking, Warrior needs buffing, Thief needs reverting and changing
No, we get Jellyfish skins. Wonderful. Does anyone even go underwater anymore unless traveling to Orr? I think I’ve maybe fought 2 people in tPvP underwater. Both times I lost because Ranger is still invincible underwater. But hey! Jellyfish.
Again, you’re completely incorrect. Many, many, other things have been fixed. The most recent patch notes have about 12 pages of fixes in addition to new content. And to quote myself from this exact thread:
This change probably takes one designer and one artist, which takes zero resources away from the balance team, so relax.
