I think many chrono players will find his stream very useful.

I started cannon firing them and they started whispering me to come down and fight them.

I didn’t know what to think about it.

• Why so many roamers are Daredevils and Chronos?
• I don’t even dare to leave the tower walls with them running around in a group
• I guess everyone ran or died instantly when running into them and they got bored and wanted to fight a SMC scout who was using the cannon to show them who was bigger

I’m pretty noob to Mesmer but recently created a lovely mesmer full of character and want to play her more.

I’m so noob I have no idea what traits to use in the Chrono line and how they will help me. I also have no idea what other traitlines i should take to synergize with the Chrono line…

so far don’t have much problems with scrapper.
The hardest one i fought went into his invis gyro and healed back up 3 times.
But I out-sustained him.

It was mainly the chill that grinded him down.

Used something like this, but in spvp worked well enough but I eventually dropped the shouts, the shout trait, and chilling victory in favor of crit for vuln and chill explosion trait. And dropped Grenth runes. And used hydromancy over sigil of chilling.

hmm…I can understand your changes since PvP consists of group fights and on-point fights…

I gave my build further testing and there are two major counters to the build…

1) Diamond skin ele/tempest

• Even with 2k power, you don’t do enough damage to break a good DS ele.

2) Sword/Dagger daredevil with unhindered combatant traited and withdraw healing and shadow step utility (even worse if he has shadow’s embrace traited)

• I never thought a class could and will pack so many condition removals in his build. This daredevil I fought recently did just that. S/D skill 3 removes condition on return, unhindered combatant removes condition on evade, withdraw healing removes condition on use, shadow step utility removes condition on use. All these happen to target the Chill condition which is my build’s main source of damage.

There isn’t any burst in my build. It depends mainly on the constant application of chill to slowly grind down the enemy. Putting aside the DS ele/tempest, S/D daredevil with those skills in their build as above totally shuts down my chill build. They remove chills faster than I can reapply them.

I am now testing a slight modification to the build. I replaced scepter with axe and soldiers ammy/rings with berserker ammy/rings. Hopefully I’ll have better burst against them though I lose around 300 armor…

I just tried in the wardrobe on my Charr for fun and it looks kitten scary!
Charr with Reaper Hood looks scarier than any other races…especially if you pair it with Arah shoulders…

Anyone gave this build a roam?
I’ve not lost for 5 straight days of roaming in 1vs1, even when playing badly!

not to mention, the runes and sigils are cheap!

I’ll explain using the current build I’m using. It is imo a good build because even when I’m playing badly, I get carried by it and still win XD
I’m also particularly proud of the way the utilities, healing, elite and traits and runes and sigils synergize with one another. My choice of shouts and signets is just simply a masterstroke.

• You shouldn’t lose against most condi unless you got outplayed. You got dagger 4, staff 4 and plague signet against condi.
  Some tips against condi:
  -Try to transfer fast against mesmers/eles in case they Moa you
  -Kite condi warriors using dodges and RS 2 while they have berserker stance up
  -Activate plague signet while dodging or while turning your back to your enemy
  -Try to fear or freeze your opponent before transferring

• Against most other power builds, your build carries you. Just stagger your chills to maximize the chill up-time.

You’ll struggle against daredevils, but only at the start. Once they blow their initiatives and especially shadowstep (which is usually their only stun breaker) to kite you, the fight will tilt in your favor. They won’t be able to burst you down easily either since you’re quite tanky with this build.

You’ll struggle against high healing longbow seed druids. They can out-sustain you.

You’ll struggle against diamondskin eles.

It says it does in the tooltips in game but gw2 wiki doesnt seem to show it.

I recently got knocked back by Ranger’s point blank shot too while I was doing death’s charge Reaper Shroud 2.

1) After casting Reaper Shroud 5 for the ice field, you can

• Reaper Shroud 2 = Leap Finisher for Frost Aura
• Reaper Shroud 4 = Whirl Finisher for Chilling Bolts
• Staff 4 = Blast Finisher for Frost Aura
• Staff 1 = Projectile Finisher for Chills

2) After casting Staff 3 for poison field, you can

• Reaper Shroud 2 = Leap Finisher for Weakness
• Reaper Shroud 4 = Whirl Finisher for Poison Bolts
• Staff 4 = Blast Finisher for Weakness
• Staff 1 = Projectile Finisher for Poison

My constructive feedback:

1) In my experience Death Perception is better than Dhuumfire even in a condi build. Shroud is normally a dps-loss to your weapons and so you only want to go into shroud for short times. During those short times you will mainly use #2-#5 and not AA. Death perception will give you more damage on #2-#5 than Dhuumfire will give on that occasional AA.

2) I’m not a real fan of the stat-sets on the gear. Why not dire and rabid all the way? Don’t like the soldiers. Carrion could be argued with.

3) I would change the sigills on your staff. Going for Chill with all four sigills is a bit over the top. Maybe something defensive would be good on staff. I would go for energy and as second Corruption or Doom.

Beside those points I kind of like what you did with the shouts, signets and grenth.

My thoughts on your points

1) Death perception might prob be better if i had taken the curses trait line for bleed on crits and/or condi-on-crit sigils. I got none of those and have almost nothing in my build that works with crit. Dhuumfire on shroud auto is great. pulling a couple of aa off won’t be hard and it gives you might too with the spite line. those burns tick well too.
Death perception might still be something i will try though if it gives me a better shot against diamond skin eles.

2) Carrion and soldiers because i wanted that small small chance of having enough power to bring a good diamond skin ele below 90% HP and hopefully keep him low and win. I might swap the soldiers for cavelier and get Death perception as you suggested.

3) I’m open to trying this!

This is for WvW Solo Roaming.
Looking for comments/advice especially on runes and sigils choices if there are better or viable alternatives.

Build name: Shout Signet Chiller

Advantages:

• Good might stacking,
• Good vulnerability stacking,
• High chill up-time,
• Good life-force generation,
• Good number of transfers against condi.

Disadvantages:

• Your chances against a good Diamond Skin ele is very low, not impossible, but very low.

Synergies:
1) Shout trait gives 3 shouts that all does chills on lower CD
2) Grenth runes that gives your healing shout a chill
3) Grenth runes that increases chill duration and chance on hit to chill
4) Sigil of Ice and Sigil of Chilling that keeps the chills up
5) Bitter Chill trait gives application of vulnerability on Chill
6) Signet Trait gives both your signets boon conversion and might stacking and lower CD
7) Chilling victory gaining lifeforce on trait is your awesome LF sustain mechanism because the opponent is almost always chilled, not to mention the extra might stacking.

It has been a month and some since HoT was released.

How many character’s elite specs have you unlocked fully so far and what was the motivation (if any) for doing so?
Also any further goals?

Myself, I’ve unlocked fully:
3 Reapers because
1 is a WvW frontline Shout-Soldier Reaper,
1 is a pure condi WvW solo-roam Reaper,
1 is a pure power WvW solo-roam Reaper.

1 Chronomancer because
I wanted to try a back-line well-bomber zerg Chrono

1 Tempest because
I wanted the Tempest Loop shoulder skin

we dont need access to a new weapon for future elite specs.

all we need is to for future elite specs to allow us to change the skills on our existing equipable weapons and it will be like a ‘new weapon’.

e.g. necros staff is currently more a utility weapon.

a future elite spec for necros will allow the necros to wield a staff with skills that is more summoning oriented.

like a Cultist elite spec for necros.
convert the staff skills from marks into summons.

in case no one had thought of this.
because it struck me that if every future new elite spec granted a new weapon to each class, then all classes will have access to all weapons in no time.

so why not just change skills on currently equippable weapons for each new elite spec?

Chronos have GS
Druids have LB
Dragonhunters have LB
Berzerkers have Rifle
Engineers have Rifle
Revenants have Hammers

Reapers have a utility staff
Tempests have a utility staff
Thieves have nothing

my thoughts are that thieves and tempests have great mobility so they dont really need a 1200 range DPS weapon

Reapers should be given one in the next elite spec if possible.
maybe a elite spec that changes the skills on an existing weapon like the staff into a DPS weapon.

New elite specs dont have to give access to new weapons. they can change skills on existing weapons.

curses are fine.
i go spite curses and spectral.
curses for plague sending, MoC and weakness on crit.

MoC is great for consume conditions and corrupt boon.

its not a thing of the past because it never happened.

you can’t be a zerg chaser on a necro. Or a reaper.

the zerg so much as looks at you, you’re dead.

This for WvW solo roaming/fights

Shatter Mesmers can 100-0 you
Eviscerate Warriors can 100-0 you
Kill Shot Warriors can 100-0 you
Longbow 2 Guardians can 100-0 you
Rifle Engineers can 100-0 you
Maul Rangers can 100-0 you
Backstab thieves can 100-0 you
etc.

Okay it need not be really 100-0
Maybe 80-0 and I’ll be happy

Do necros/reapers have such a combo/ability to 100-0 (or 80-0) an opponent?
100-0 means from 100% hp to 0 hp in one hit/combo.

The reason why I’m asking is because druids and scrappers and certain bunkerish chrono builds make me sad.
I don’t have that 100-0 ability to burst them before they heal back up and just out sustain me.

Does anyone have a build (traits/weapons/stats) that allow a necro to dish out a huge amount of damage in one hit or one quick chain?

These new sustain metas need to be insta KOed…otherwise its very hard to win…they out sustain necros/reapers and out sustain elementalists.

I’m currently using this build with some success but its dependent on the enemy hitting 50% HP, procing chill of death trait, removing 3 boons for more damage, 20% increase damage trait close to death, air and fire sigils procing, shroud 1 crits for ~5k dmg damage…do we have a build that packs a much bigger one-hit-ko punch?

Did they remove the weekly bonus chests from leveling up in WvW depending on your server’s ranking the previous week?

If yes, its really unbelievable. Why would they do it?
WvW rewards are so much lesser than PvP and PvE in terms of gold/loot…

Lack of mobility is a fatal flaw for necro.
When you’re the littlest fishy in the sea, you gotta be able to get away.

I had a problem with that until I insta leveled a norn necro and used the leopard form elite for escaping.

Unfortunately Anet locked the new specs behind a grind so you can’t insta level a norn reaper, and they killed roaming so you wouldn’t find any good fights anyway.

the BLs lack fights…its mostly empty of roamers even on prime time tier 2…
but EBG still got some left…

Yes it is viable as Solo Roamer and works really well vs Melee Classes tho it suffers vs Ranged. Specially hard has the Power Reaper vs Ranger/Druid and Revenant useing Hammer due to the fact closeing the gap vs a skilled player isnt easy on the Necro and even harder on a Reaper with no range dps i Shroud.

Its however much easier to raom on Condi or Hybrid such as Sinisterand my latest try Viper… You get so much more out of your Chills if specced for that and Revenant for ex. is very weak to Condi if specced like 99% of them are.

Power Reaper for Solo Roam is tough to learn and even harder to master and Iam nowhere near that yet after multiple hours daily but duelling great players helps. Instead of takeing Spite you can use the very good Traits in Curses specially Chilling Darkness and Path of Corruption I love those with Reaper Shroud #2 much more so then I ever did on DS-Necro.

Power necro > Power reaper when there are so many kiters roaming out there…

Hmm does anyone have any suggestions for the females? As pointed out by some, I find them cliche and kind of normal. Nothing outstanding.

Staff (Energy sigil for endurance on swap)

1) I am running with axe in combat. I enter shroud. Will this count as a weapon swap and trigger the staff’s energy sigil?

2) I am running with staff in combat. I enter shroud. Will this trigger the staff’s energy sigil?

3) If I leave shroud, does it count as a weapon swap and trigger an on-swap sigil? If yes, does it trigger on the weapon that I am holding or the other alternate weapon that is stowed away?

They either have high sustain (druids, heralds, scrappers)
or they have high survivability and burst (dragon hunters, daredevils)
or they are untouchable and chain burst (chronomancer – they just F5, throw out all their bursts, reset, and throw out all their bursts again)

I switched to power reaper and saw slightly improved performances against some of them…but some like the chronomancer still gives me a major nightmare.

Are there any power reapers out there who is seeing decent success solo roaming in WvW?
If yes, may I see your build please.

Chronomancer mantra spam (domination, inspiration chronomancer) GS Sword/torch or shield. Lots of dodges, stealth, heals, condi removal via mantras, interrupts, blinds, it has it all.

but the ranger and druid and herald sustain is pretty nasty too.

but why make exotic karma armors soulbound on acquire??

I want to use my map completion toon to buy armors for my new level 80 toons but I can’t use the old guy to teleport and buy it for them because it is soulbound on acquire!

I need to use my new toon and run all the way to malchore leap to buy the armor which is silly.
