Everywhere I wander, I bump into Mesmer roamers…
Lone wolf or wolf packs…
Harsh and cold in the wintry desert…
If Mesmers were wells, one would never thirst in the desert of WvW…

Dear Joyce,
I would love to have a sketch done by you for my Vampire Lord and my Guardian of the Frost.
One sketch each for my vamp and frost will be lovely.
I’m posting a few pictures of them so you can have a better look!

they got demoted?

is this a thing of the past?
does anyone still use it in any game mode?
if no, does spectral line need some buffs to make pure spectral builds appealing?

I agree. This is hard to stomach. Daredevils just became the new meta.

Anyone think this could be something they would be interested in seeing in game.?
Imagine, light sabre style grip stored on the back of you’re character, when you grab it, the staff elongates on both sides… Darth Maul style. Maybe without the light sabre laser effect, since we’re more blunt trauma.A lot of the staff skins are for casters right now so I think if enough people got on board Anet could totally make this happen.
there is already something like this.
kasmeer’s staff skin currently in TP.
elongates on use and withdraws on stowing.

Mesmers have PU for stealth and more stealth.
Thieves now have Daredevils for dodge (triple bar endurance) = leap for more stealth and more stealth on DP builds, more stealth available on SP and PP builds.
Do we need more stealth and more stealth?

another useless thread: game atm is extremely balanced, and tired of reading cries like this. step up your game. only thing I dislike atm is that one cannot evade the taunts, other then this I have no complaigns whatsoever about the game balance in any way
um…i’m not complaining/crying…
i’m just asking if every class should have a choice to build for condi immunity at the expense of some other traits.should all classes be able to have acces to stealth at the expense of few traits or teleports, see now how childish this (your post) is?
how rude can you get -_-

We all know how condis can be very strong if not speced for.
most classes have some form of condi cleansing that can be very useful against condi builds.
but what if we gave every class a condi immunity trait line similar to diamond skin that would make classes who take these builds the nemesis of pure condi builds?
revenant demon stance seems to fulfil that role of a ‘diamond skin’
warrior berserker elite seems to fulfil that role too.
other classes? should all classes have something similar?

Ive made a thred on here about how necros life blast should be updated to its underwater variation plague blast which shoots much faster and xfers one condition per-shot. I can only hope that a Dev or others will see it and give it some thought. IT would make DS *(death shroud) much more effective with that simple change alone.
Before some one says “thats too strong” or “There would be no counter play to it” There is so just dont…. if it was too strong why would they give it to the underwater version if they felt that way. Its just something thats not being used right now because under water combat is next to non existent in the game right now. A change like this could make DS a more tempting choice over RS (reaper shroud) when reaper is fully released. Right now its a no brainer… take RS because as DS sits right now its pretty much too clunky, the auto attack is slow, no stability. RS has stability, better damage, better condition potential, and is miles ahead for a profession mechanic when compared to base DS.
I dont think they will change DS 1 to hit faster and transfer one condi per hit.
DS 1 might be a tad weak on a condi build, but power builds are dishing out pretty high damages per hit. Making it hit faster with condi transfer will probably make things pretty close to DS = new and upgraded Lich form.

I wrote here earlier the key to using condi against a necro is to pre-empt and prevent the necro from transferring the condis back to you.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Condi-transfert/first#post5317240
Sounds like the guardian in the OP post is doing a good job of loading and pre-empting/denying the condi transfer back from the necro.
As others pointed out, if you run staff, you can still transfer it back to a blocking guardian. You can also enter shroud if you have DS and use DS 4 to tank while breaking his focus shield and thus making it transferable again.
As a necro, if the enemy condi player knows how to load and pre-empt you from returning the condi, then you must learn how not to eat the condi so early in the first place.
I think most necros, myself included, fight by eating all the condis then transferring it back. We don’t know what caused the condi burst on us, what to dodge to prevent the condi burst. If the enemy knows how to pre-empt you from returning the condi to him, then as a necro, we must also learn how to dodge their initial burst and taking the initiative in the fight instead of letting him passively load us with condi and then thinking we can transfer it back easily.

i can give you some tips on fighting condi PU.
engage him when he is visible.
when he is invisible, run and leave his images behind or kill them fast if you can. turn around and engage again when he is visible.
pack -condi food and condi removal skills/traits.
dont shoot him when he is blocking.
dodge when he is doing a lengthy GS skill that does 5 stacks of confusion on you over time.
dodge through his shatter when you see his images running towards you enmasse.

does anyone actually use focus?
if yes, wvw roaming or pvp or pve?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
focus 4 is very hard to hit, let alone bounce.
both sides have to be running in a straight line towards or away from one another.
neither side must be moving side ways or the focus 4 will miss or not bounce.
best bet is to chain it with a fear then focus 4 for it to hit and bounce reliably at close range.
not suitable at all to cast it at the 1200 range that it has been given.
focus 5 is great if you time it well. usually used to strip stability. which means you can’t chain it with fear. so the cast time does feel a little too long.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
If you’re dying in a low duration moa like that, they probably landed both Incendiary Ammo and Blowtorch on you before the Toss Elixir X. Without Incendiary Ammo, a normally 50s cd skill, you should definitely be able to survive the duration unless you were already really low. If you see the Incendiary Ammo icon on their status bar, expect a burst and have a condi clear or transfer ready immediately, and a cover CC if necessary to ensure that a transfer hits.
They’ll either run in close or use Magnet or Glue Shot before hitting you with Blowtorch, so you should have a good idea when they’ll use it and can react accordingly. Dodge magnet, dodge if they suddenly run up to your face, and CC them or be ready to use a condi clear or transfer if they use glue shot (as you can’t dodge while immobilized). If they burst from stealth, dodge as soon as you get hit, pop into ds, fear them, then transfer the condis back. Condi engi has pretty low condi clear most of the time, so with a 3x condi transfer and a cover condi or two from you they will usually melt.
If you get moa’d first, use your dodges and skill #5 to avoid any further condi application. If you properly avoided or transferred Blowtorch/Incendiary Ammo before getting moa’d you should have no problem surviving the duration.
Or just roll the cele signet build, and watch them kill themselves from your passive transfer every 24s. Cele signet hardcounters engi condi builds.
thank you! that helped a ton!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
As you said yourself, moa ignores stability. However, it can be blocked, and also fails on invulnerable targets.
Further, the elixir X TB is a slow projectile, so it can be directly blocked, destroyed & reflected. And since it’s slow, it’s easy to see it comming if you keep the engi on range.Since necros not really have leaps to their disposal, you need to pack a lot of fears, cripple, chill & immob, so you can keep the engi on distance. that also reduces the effectiveness of nades, blowtorch & a bunch of other skills.
since IA (Inciniary ammo) applies 2 burns on every attack for the next 3 attacks & has a really long cd, you best bet is to cast your transfer right when you receive the first burning stacks. If you’re lucky, the engi is burning to death, while you need to embrace the moa for a few seconds, only to kill him righter after it runs out.
People with a brain will not waste it right at the beginning of a fight however, so if you’re low & the engi still has moa off cd, go into lich/plague & bait the moa out of him (since he responds to you, it’s unlikely that he can plant a decent amount of burning in time), and once you’ve run away with #5 & the moa runs out, go into DS and do whatever you can.
thank you! that helped a lot.
especially that info on the IA! so that is how they apply their burns and it has a long cooldown…I thought they were applying burns on autos!
so yes a quick transfer might just save me and give me the initiative…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
i feel that scepters are good where they are now.
except maybe buff the bleed on the autos by a bit.
dont forget its a 900 range weapon with a pretty fast auto attack that bleeds and poisons.
the other 2 skills are more situational but still useful.

Here I list out how to fight a necro if you are a condi build.
I need some help on how to fight a condi engineer who uses MOA as a necro.
I got very bad experience against them.
they stack a couple of burn, MOA me, and i die in seconds while in MOA without even having the chance to transfer or clear the condi.
MOA ignores stability, and forces me out of deathshroud so I can’t tank in it either. and the MOA animation is almost instant and very hard to see and impossible to dodge in time.
The only thing i can think of is random dodge =/
help D=
How do I fight a condi engineer using moa?

you came to engineer forum and ask how to defeat engineer …. WHOSE going to tell you our trade secret go back where you come from
haha !

I helped a mesmer on how to fight a signet condi transfer necro…in the thread below I also explain how to fight a necro if you are condi and don’t want the necro to transfer all the condis back on you…
please help me with engineer too D=

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
it wasnt a single cast blink/teleport
it was a continuous zero cooldown blinking away from me.
One minute I was attacking him, next minute he had blinked a few times and went far enough from me to be out of combat.
and he just stood there and looked at me, I chased and he just blinked a few times away from me again. zero cool down blinking -_-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
what if it was working as intended?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
but just stacking a couple of burning+moa right after kills the necro before he can transfer -_-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Just upgrade and sell it. That’s what I did, I still have the lidless eye skin and I made a bit of money (don’t know if it’s still profitable).
oh thats an idea…hmmmmm
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Is this the best most effective WvW roaming build out there?
I main a necro and i fought a condi engineer using the MOA elixir X skill.
What he did was stack a couple of burning/bleeds on me, MOAed me and I died in seconds while in MOA form even though I was dodging twice in MOA form and using MOA 5 to run.
the burns just ate through me and I had no way of transferring or clearing the condi.
Is there a way for a necro to fight a condi MOA engineer roamer?
As far as i know, MOA forces me out of death shroud so I can’t use it to tank either. and it ignores stability.
I dont have block, I can only depend on lucky dodges or blind since the toss elixir X skill has such a fast cast time and impossible to see the animation and dodge in time!
please help – what should I do against a condi MOA engineer? What are his weaknesses?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
wow they still have traited double moa? -_-
sounds like US is the answer to this burning + moa attack…
i checked my stat log he was ticking 2k+ burning on me every tick and dropped me to 10% HP in the few seconds I was in MOA and i died instantly after I left moa -_-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
thanks for the suggestions =D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
which is nicer?
lidless eye is the non-upgraded version
eye of rodgort is the upgraded version with a red aura
i find lidless eye without the aura very appealing.
what do you guys think?
i’m thinking of giving it to my character below: which version will be better for him?
i already have lidless eye. but not sure if i should spend another 200 gold to upgrade it to eye of rodgort.
will the additional aura suit him?

weell i would like to see some dragon hunter pics that looks cooler than my demon hunter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
darn does this mean there is another class that hard counters the necro?
i think even if I am in shroud, if I get moaed, I am forced out of shroud…so I cant tank in shroud.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
as per title
here is the pic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
i fought a wvw condi engineer twice using elixir x and i died in seconds.
he stacked a couple of burns, bleeds in seconds, and moa me before i could transfer
and even though i was dodging in moa i still died in seconds to the burn
and its not possible to see the moa animation and dodge in time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
hey guys.
was wondering who are the top 3 best necros and whether there are any youtube/twitch links that show their game plays.
Apart from the more popular Noscoc and Leeto and youtubers like Holts and Lynnie, are there better necros?
Do they rank in the top 3?
I play necro myself and am just an average necro WvW roamer. I’m thinking of finally starting in PvP as a necro but would like to know who are the top 3 necros and if I can watch their necro plays.
Thanks!

with the revenant getting a melee staff and range hammer, can we have more designs/skins that make staffs and hammer look more melee-like and range-like?
Right now the staff skins are mostly range-looking spell casting staffs.
Can we have more physical looking close combat staff skins?
hammer also looks very melee-ish. can we have range-ish looking hammer skins?
Thanks!
