Modified my build a little. Dropped Rise in favor of Spectral Armor which was much better as a damage reduction skill for solo fights and acts as an extra stun breaker and lifeforce generator!

To keep a small group of enemies occupied

Which is the:
1) most effective for solo roaming?
2) most effective for small group roaming (2-4)?
3) most fun for solo roaming?
4) most fun for small group roaming (2-4)?

Actually reaper/condi mes is a fairly even match up, and I’m sure those that browse the reaper forum will tell you mesmer has the upperhand.
- LoS the reaper. Give your staff clones a chance to do work
- Keep in mind the reaper staff marks are unblockable. That means you should generally try to be in sw/sh when the reaper is in sc/w and staff when the reaper is in staff
- Use blink/phase retreat to throw off the reaper’s placement of marks
- Keep distance when the reaper is in shroud (most the skills are short-ranged, melee focused). Usually better to just let them burn the shroud and then save burst for the hp pool
- Watch for plague signet. Try to predict when the reaper is likely to use it, and have blurred frenzy or distortion ready
- Interrupt the heal
- If they’re loaded up with condis, chain interrupts
- If you have to use moa, make sure some condis are ticking first, or you have burst ready to ensure downstate
As a mesmer, when I first fought the chillomancer I was getting wrecked. With some practice now it’s not so bad.
this is good advice.

Hey Revs!
I fought against a Rev recently as a Reaper and was wondering if there were things that I could have done better or things that a better Rev would have done against me during the fights.
The fights are at the 8 min mark and at the end.
Tips and advises much appreciated!

I’m a Reaper main…I’ve not won a fight against Gunflame Berserker before…
They use berserker stance early so I can’t CC them with fear…
Then they use Immune to Pain stance so I can’t do any damage to them…
And in between they pull off two Gunflames that is so fast and hard to dodge and just kills me…Can anyone help share some tips?
Do you lose to Reapers? If yes, what type of Reapers? Power or Condi or Hybrid?
What did the Reaper do to win?The fight is completely in your favour already. Corrupt his resistance and you pretty much won unless you continue to make major mistakes. A berserker warriors worst nightmare has always been tanky condition bruisers. That was the case even before the Berserker stance nerf.
Corrupt his resistance and stability, weaken or CC him during Endure Pain, equip some protection yourself which already negates quite a bit of his damage. Try to dodge his Gunflame and Volley, go into melee, freeze him to death. This is one of the very few times where I think the term “lern2play issue” actually fits.
Edit: The same applies to winning with a Power build even if the advantage you have isn’t as huge.
As you mentioned, condi bruiser reaper can win against a gunflame berserker and I have won against him 2 out of 2 fights using such builds like full dire or carrion/dire mix.
Pure power Reaper vs gunflame berserker is a different story though. I don’t think you have really fought as one before if you think a pure power reaper still holds an advantage over the berserker =p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
reaper has no chance vs staff thief but dp is another story. if u get lucky to avoid steal and burst u win
I rarely see staff thieves roaming in WvW. Have not fought one on my power reaper unfortunately.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
this video should be called " this is why thief should not fight nerco in reaper form" LOL you just wait it out in WvW no rush punish it lol.
honestly after thief engage you after 1 hit should of just ran away trait swap spam head shot on you.
This is true. Unless you are fighting a condi reaper.
condi reapers have a good chance to kill most kiters still.

I think one of the most alluring aspects of GW2 is its vast world that is filled with mysteries waiting for us to unearth…
I personally have a map completion character, but am ashamed to say that I had rushed through the whole map without pausing to admire the beauty that GW2 has created for us…
I did make a promise to myself though that the next map completion I do, will be done slowly to savor and immerse myself in this world.
For now though, I would love to have a Travel Guide done up and contributed by all you seasoned Map Explorers! Would you identify and point out “Must Go” scenic areas for each map area? Would you also post pictures you have taken of each scenic spot to tempt us all into packing our bags and setting out for the great unknown!?
I look forward to this coming fantastic compilation of the Travel Guide to the World!
Here I post a few scenic pictures I had taken…Can you guess where they were taken?

I have:
Pure power Berserker stats roaming build
Terrormancer Rabid+Dire stats roaming build
Chiller Dire stats roaming build
Bruiser Knight stats frontline zerg build
Well bomber Berserker stats backline zerg build
And I was thinking what other builds I can have for a necro…then it struck me that I don’t have a Minion build!
I don’t think minion builds work at all for zerg fights so I’m thinking more of a minion roaming build. I would prefer a solo roam minion build, but am also okay if it is meant for roaming with 1 or more other mates.
Has anyone tried a minion roaming build and can share? I’m more concerned about what type of armor or stats to achieve since I don’t think a minion build works well with pure power berserker stats.
Does a minion build work better with condi? or does it synergize better with power? what toughness/vit/armor should I be aiming for? what armor stats combination works? How about the skills and traits choices?
Thanks!

Still sad since I want to win with a pure power build D=

Hey Dragonhunters!
I fought two DH, one near the start of video and one near the end.

6. quite a bit of skill and knowledge of the game
Most of these anyone can do, but number 6 actually requires you to be good.
This. Watching you execute your jukes and combos and timings flawlessly in your powe roaming videos, also gave me a very strong impression that you are not just good, but at the very least between Very Good and Godly.
Secretly, just between you and me, I think you’re a level higher than Donee.
Since power does indeed require more skills than condi =p
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
If I may add, I suspect Holls is between Very good and Godly.
His fighting style is very varied but unfortunately his recent roaming power reaper video/s didn’t really show any worthy opponent.
I can attest that Donee, at least in my view, (and painful experience of fighting him), is between Very good and Godly.
Why between? because his opponents in his video don’t do him justice :<
Also, let me promote my first video again because I like the music here better.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Would you consider your opponents in this video skilled players? When I face rangers on my reaper usually the first thing they do is knock me the hell back (ive not yet learnt to anticipate and dodge that shot). That reaper you fought was condi right? And yet you had the upper hand thruout the fight, i always lose to condi reapers on my power reaper ( but i also use a gs so thats probably why ). Anyway nice vid, thanks for sharing
PS: would you share your build ?
I think you asked a very relevant question.
Are my opponents good players?
I’ve watched popular youtubers like Holls and Donee.
Are their opponents good?
Honestly, I’ll say that most of their opponents are not good.
Entertaining fights, outnumbered fights, jukes, both Holls and Donee display in their videos in spades and I enjoy watching them.
But were their opponents good? I wouldn’t judge only based on the skills that the opponent is showing.
Good is really relative.
I can only judge in relation to the skill Holls and Donee has been showing.
Holls know his skills well from the videos that he has been showing, though I’ve never fought him, but I would say he is too good for his opponents. His opponents are mostly not even near his level (at least for the few roaming videos that I’ve watched).
In relation to Holls’ skills, most of his opponents aren’t good enough.
Donee? I’ve fought this monster when I was still in T1 NA. His skills are way above mine. But in the videos he has been showing, his opponents really don’t do him justice. Most of his opponents aren’t good enough either, at least in relation to his skills. Also I think playing too much condi might have made him too relaxed since condi reaper can take a lot more punishment than a power reaper =p
Myself? I can only say that in both my recent Power Reaper roaming videos, quite a few of the opponents I’m showing are near or above my skill level. I showed fights against opponents who have killed me at least once or made me feel like I needed to be at my best.
I’ve only been showing my wins, but in reality, most of them have at least killed me once, some even multiple times. Are my opponents good? In relation to my skill level, most of them are.
As for your question on the condi reaper (yes he is condi) and the druid (he is a condi druid, not the longbow power druid that knocks you back mostly), they’ve both not won against me in my memory, but I included them to show how one could fight condi classes using the build I was running. In fact, with Staff 4, Dagger 4 and Plague signet, you’re going to lose to a condi enemy only if you get badly outplayed. There are a few who can trouble you though. Interrupt spam from a condi Daredevil comes to mind and they can really make things difficult.
I’ve not managed to video a fight against a Longbow power druid/ranger, but I did fight one very good one (very good in relation to my skill level), he kited like a boss. My record against him was 3 loss and 1 win. And that was even when I was using the tricks that Donee taught and showed me =(
Having said all that thing about ‘good’ being relative to your own skill, I do classify my opponents and even myself on how ‘good’ we are.
- Normal pugs = stands around auto-attacking, runs around helplessly
- Average = Skill spamming (at least he knows how to spam his skills =p)
- Good = Knows his skill combos well
- Very good = What I said in ‘Good’ + Knows how to bait out dodges and defenses from his opponents before unleashing his combos. Knows how to fight against different classes and builds, knows his enemies’ skill combos well and therefore knows how to evade, what to dodge etc.
- Godly = what I said in ‘Very good’ + extremely varied combat style. They can fight you multiple times but you can never ‘predict’ or get used to their fighting style because they fight and engage differently every time. I know one such Roamer in FA. A base mesmer. Previously flying the KD guild tag, but now flying the EV guild tag. People say he uses macros to chain his skills etc. but honestly, I think they just can’t comprehend how good he is. I’ve fought him at least 20 times and lost every time. And it was not even close.
When I’m focused (mostly on weekends after my afternoon nap), I rate myself between ‘Good’ and ‘Very Good’. There are still quite a few enemy classes and builds and playstyles that I have yet to analyze fully on how best to engage them with the build I’m running. So I’m not there yet at ‘Very Good’. Starting to move from ‘Good’ to ‘Very good’.
My opponents in the videos are mostly like me.
The build I was running =) You can add golden fried dumpling food into the build to make it even stronger (got this idea from Holls’ video. I don’t use it though as I don’t have the gold to spare lol)

Also DB has heaps of havoc groups in sea as well and FA would be the perfect place if a sea guild wanted to transfer to tier 2 for fights .
This is true. DB is huge during SEA time.
But because they are HUGE, if you do transfer to FA, be sure to transfer at least two 20+ men guilds.
Otherwise you’re just going to get steamrolled by the huge DB machine.

Ele
1) He should have run, winning vs most reapers means that the reaper did some big mistakes. (it depends on the build too)
2) Using d/d in wvw?
3) No rebound for extra aura or ele for extra dmg? (maybe at the end he tried to use? didn’t see well, but if that’s the case that’s bad timing too)
4) Overloading without stability/earth auraReaper
1) You eated ALL the shocking auras both from offhand dagger air and from finishing the overload (you can know fast if he has offhand dagger by how fast the covered ground to get you – focus and warhorn have no movement skills and while watching the aura is tricky you can assume he has it when he is in air and you are meleeing him)
2) You tanked all the first overload… waiting for him to waste his Armor of Earth by running away and engaging latter would have been better (he looses protection and cant get safe overloads in a looong time)Reaper (Debatable)
- I don’t like “nothing can save you” and “rise”, I think that it can be seen in that battle that they didn’t do too much to hep you
- I would wait for 4+ burning stacks to return, when u know he has committed to do dmg or you have half HP (you used on 3, which is not really bad)
- I play a little safer by staying more in reaper form, which is really strong vs ele (chills, poison and fear+ tons of dmg), but that’s me
Thanks for the suggestions!
They are very useful for me to learn from.
1) I would like to ask about the shocking aura though. Is that the one where if I hit the tempest, I will get stun/dazed or is it the lighting strikes from the sky when he overloads air attunement?
2) Thanks for the tip to run away when he first entered earth armor. It didn’t occur to me as a Necro since it isn’t often that we get to run away from our opponents XD but now we got the shroud leap it might be possible! But I wonder if I would have ran off far enough to get out of his lighting aoe radius =/
Also I think he immobilized me when he first charged up to me…so I wouldn’t have been able to escape from him easily when he first had his earth armor on.
how did he do that? is that a trait or utility skill?

The thing is YB can do that because no one cares if they do that anymore. They are not winning because they are good, they are winning because everyone left that would have been the ones to stop that. YB apparently is entertained by sieging up towers, the thing is no one else was, and got bored and left. The players coming on don’t care about PPT, they just want fights.
There were some huge fights and numbers on all 3 sides for awhile there. Then I guess JQ imploded or some guy rage uninstalled. Anyways T2 pretty good TC got numbers from somewhere if not kitten
‘gained’ numbers because Never Die (ND) guild joined us and showed us that they can lead and win outnumbered fights during SEA time. With every win, our smaller blob against DB’s large blob, the number of players willing to raid during SEA time in TC stays and grows. Even then, DB outnumbers us easily but well, with ND around to lead TC, TC is more than a match for DB now.

Hey all, I’m thinking of playing a Healer build for WvW (small group roaming and zerg vs zerg) but wanted to know if anyone has tried it and whether it is viable before I throw the gold in.
If anyone has tried it or can theory craft, could you post a viable healer build here?
Also should such a build be played backline, midline, or frontline?
I already have a backline base necro well bomber and a frontline brusier shout reaper for zerg fights.
Looking more for a midline pure healer/support build for zerg fights or small group roaming. Does not have to be a reaper. can be a base necro.
Thanks!

where do you guys see this nerf message?
I checked the forum updates and didn’t see it. I checked dulfy also and didnt see it =/
that said, I do think that chill needs to be nerfed slightly. but just slightly. because well…I’m running a chill build and its not fun to win everything without breaking a sweat

Assuming you mean solo roaming and not group roaming,
1)
- I never really played with wells but I’ve seen Holls using it well and a few others (using it on me to great effect). Basically Well of Suffering is your key burst moment but it has to be paired with dagger immobilize for greatest effect. Combo usually goes like this: dagger immobilize > well of suffering > warhorn daze > dagger auto
- I think your current utilities are pretty decent but a lot depends on your other setup too. Basically you want your utilities to either make certain of your killer combos stronger, synergize with your traits, fill up gaps in your defenses or all of the above.
So it is really pretty much what sort of play-style suits you. Maybe you want to post your full build using the build editor here: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
2)
- Traits, like utilities, will hinge a lot on your playstyle and what you are going for in other areas of your build. If you chose chilling nova, then you probably want deathly chill as your GM trait to maximize the damage potential. I’ve tried this combo myself on a power build and don’t suggest it. the slight increase in damage is not good enough to justify throwing in both traits. Unless you are using a hybrid condi+power build…then thats a different story
- Augury of Death (shout adept trait) is more useful only if you use the healing shout. The rest of the shouts either have very long cooldown and usually wont recharge fast enough before the fight ends, or are not that useful for a power build. I would suggest going Relentless Pursuit if you don’t intend to use the healing shout.
- Reaper Onslaught is more useful if you’re fighting in a group vs many or zergs. For 1vs1 fights, its effectiveness is really halved. Blighter’s boon when built with the right runes and food (as Holl’s and a few others showed), gives you some pretty nasty sustain.
3)
- no comments on zerk/soldier mix but staff/gs limits your range capabilities quite a fair bit and is probably why you might be struggling much more against other classes who kite you. I’ve seen Reapers run axe/x + GS to great effect so you may want to try that. Also if you want tips on how to engage a kiting druid, you might want to ask Lynnie/Donnie…I learnt a lot from him…most druids lose their range advantage if you use his tips and tricks…and those druids who don’t…is because previously they had already fought you a few times, died to you a few times, and then figured out you always do the same things (unless you’re pro enough to change up your fighting styles each time lol)
4)
- If you like flashing around like a thief on your reaper, you might want to search for Holl’s recent power roaming video. It’s always a great thrill to watch him pull of teleports and blinks on his Reaper followed by a devastating combo that shreds the opponent! I tried a variation of his build and needless to say, I was the one getting shredded.
5)
- I love roaming with power reaper though. This is currently the build I’m most satisfied with. There isn’t a one build to win all builds, but there is a one build that gives you a fair shot against most other builds. And I think this is it.
- (against enemy condi builds, you pretty much start with at least a 60-40 advantage)
- (against some sustain (druids, scrappers) or kiting (druids, druids, druids) or block-heavy builds (Guardians, shield warriors), you start with at most a 40-60 disadvantage)
- (against the rest, its pretty much 50-50…)
and a video here using the build:

I did not play Guild Wars 1. I don’t really know how the name originated.
But when I bought the game, I was thinking it would be centred around GvG. Guild vs Guild.
Currently I think the perfect platform to do this is not in Guild halls where no one really watches and no one really knows or cares or can participate.
It should be in WvW where guilds represent their worlds and bring the fight to other guilds for dominance.
For a game called Guild Wars, I would have thought WvW would be heavily focused for development. But it seems like things are going to the contrary…
The focus seems very much on PvE and PvP…

DareDevil should keep flank and stealth burst run when facing a reaper
daredevils on your videos are kitten.
good thief will shadowstep out until you out of shroud and don’t give you chance to regain lifeforce
thx for your views!
your comments make me feel like Reapers shouldn’t be able to win against good Daredevils though XD
actually sometimes I feel that way too. It is so hard to win against a devil as a Reaper.
maybe I’m too sensitive

+1
/ 15 necros
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Speaking from a wvw perspective, i think both classes’ wells have their own niche uses and are good at what they do.
Mesmers most commonly used wells are the evasion, now aegis pulsing well which is great defensively. And their crowd control elite well which is great for bursting on a group of the enemy zerg.
Necro wells bring raw damage and boon control to the table which when properly timed and placed, devastates the enemy.
Having said that, i would love to see a necro elite well too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
While i would love to see axe buffed, there are advantages to axe.
- axe 1 auto is two hits in quick succession. Meaning u can remove blind or aegis and still land a quick hit. I think it is good enough with its vulnerability on hit. Mayb it could use a longer vulnerability duration to encourage more use.
- axe 2 tracks through invis. and that is great. But it breaks if the opponent kites behind u. The skill itself isnt that fantastic to warrant the stopping of the skill if the opponent moves behind u. Perhaps it could see a buff by changing it to something like dagger 2 where once it locks on the target, it is not broken by enemy’s positioning.
- axe 3 hits invis and remove a boon which is great. But the base dmg isnt that great to warrant such a long cast time. Changing this to instant cast would be nice. And possibly adding a lifeforce gain on hit to encourage more use.

I’ve created three human female toons and I still can’t create a gentle looking female human.
I’ve spent hours trying to mix and match in the wardrobe and the makeover kit but have zero success.
I don’t dislike my human female characters…but I don’t really like them either…I attached all 3 of my toons…I find human female characters so hard to style into something gentle…
I’m looking for a gentle peaceful look (face, hairstyle, dyes, colors, armors, weapons, backpack advise needed)
Can anyone help advise what armor/dye/weapons to use and what hairstyle/face to go with?
Gentle looks! I’m not looking for those cool looking characters or evil sinister or fierce or proud or stylish etc.
Gentle looks!
Best if you can post a picture of a gentle looking female human. Light armor please.

Hello all. I always found fighting and analyzing a fight against a Chrono very thrilling. I like to review and learn how to fight against them better. They are probably my favorite class to fight against when on my Reaper. Not because they are easy, but because they are tough and hard to predict. But not so tough and hard to predict to the extent of a daredevil whose infinite dodges and stealth just leaves me bamboozled.
My first 4 fights in the video were against Chronos
I was wondering if those Chronos in the video are any good and how I fared against them.
Were there things I could have done better as a Reaper or things that better Chronos would have done against a Reaper in those situations?

I used to get thrills from the loot drop in PvE in other MMORPG.
Farming NPCs, finding a valuable drop and whooping with joy.
GW2’s PvE?
The one and only time I got a precursor (worth about 300g at that time) was about 2 years ago.
TWO YEARS AGO.
THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I WHOOPED WITH JOY OVER A LOOT.
ever since then, I’ve never gotten a loot drop that was worth more than 50 gold.
The drop rate for valuables is really sad.
When was the last time you actually felt thrilled playing PvE?
I got introduced to WvW and never looked back.
This is the only place in GW2 where I can feel thrilled.

Its just grinding and grinding for exp (unranked) and pips (ranked) to me
I build a bruiser/bunker build, go in, spam all my skills, hold and survive on the point as long as I can. Rinse and Repeat.
I don’t feel any thrill
I don’t feel any need to revise my build
I don’t feel elated when I win
I don’t feel upset when I lose
All because it is a group game of 5 vs 5
You can get carried by your teammates and you can get dragged down by them too
You can play badly and win, play well and lose
You don’t need to think of how to fight, what to dodge and still win
You can think of how to fight and what to dodge and still lose
Unlike solo roaming in WvW that is thrilling. Life or Death depends on your skills. And yours alone. You don’t have 4 other guys to carry you. You don’t the threat of 4 other enemies ganging on you or a artillery fire downing you when you’re about to win.
I really think for PvP to be thrilling and fun to play, it needs to implement an official recognized King of the Hill 1 vs 1 mode.

Hello all, I did some roaming and compiled some fights…
Story
At the very beginning…the Necromancer apprentice was clumsy and slow…
He needed thick armor to survive and wore full dire condi…
The beginning was tough…and he lost many fights…
But he had mastery over death…and each time he died…he came back stronger…faster…meaner…
The moons came and went…
Dire became an armor too heavy and slow for the emerging Necromancer…
Dropping it in favor of a hybrid build…the Necromancer slayed his foes faster…and faster…and faster…
But it was not enough…
The Necromancer grew into a Reaper…and his eyes turned blood red…
Crazed with blood-lust and the thrill of death…
Pure Power was all he had eyes for…
And the darkness took him…

I used to farm PvP but it seems to have been nerfed or removed from the reward tracks.
What are the ways to farm transmutation charges now?
Thanks in advance!

Borrowing a phrase I think I’ve seen Holls mention…
Power or go home!
