Though I do agree that todays society shouldn’t curse as much and definitly not curse with words that were never an insult to begin with. How-ever I think this is a poor idea, especially since you said “Public, Map and Team chat” You know what team-chat is for? You need to be follow teamchat, it’s very helpful if you’re able to follow say. MMO’s are about teamwork and you don’t even want to read what your team would be saying because some people need to use immature insults. You know what MMO’s are for? There’re here because of the social aspect (along with it being near-impossible to ‘finish’ an MMO) and you want people to become as anti-social as possible just because people use those words as curse words.

You also talked in your whole post about the comments being made at you, but in your example it’s just a generalized word, not even aimed at you. I won’t say you’re oversensitive, because you’re not in the wrong here, but you could be the solution by not taking everything so personal. Put those who are out of line on ignore, report those who deserve a report and make the whole community better, rather than suggest a very anti-social system into a social game.

I got even more disappointed when I noticed how little you did to find a sollution for yourself: Turning of the Profanity filter whilst you can’t stand cursing, what? Not turning of Map-chat, why? It won’t stop unwanted PM’s, but besides gold-sellers (who are a problem in their own and reportable) it will stop everything else, since all your examples are in map/say, not in a PM especially for you.

Question, in what part of the world do you live that you’ve never encountered this in real life. If real life had the same profanity filter as the forums I’d be hearing people talking about kittens all day long and no, I don’t live in some bad neighbourhood.

Just wondering, what did you expect to get out of this?

Gambling is generally a bad idea. (That being said I do farm keys once in a while if I’m watching a series I’d otherwise fall asleep during (it’s my health, not the series) and know a single claim ticket can make up for a lot, assuming you sell the skin a few months later, or in the usual case, use it for myself. Which is still a waste considering how long you have to wait to break even, possibly make a tiny profit.)

Never buy anything on the gem store unless it’s on sale.

I follow this rule and I’m never disappointed.

And for the record, if you bought multiples of gem store armor skins, when the wardrobe is released you can file for a refund for extra sets you haven’t used.

Thank you for the heads-up, I suppose I’ll try to submit a ticket for the armor-sets. I’m honestly a bit surprised considering how many people would want compensation.

I tend to follow the same rule as you, but my characters have been cramped on storage space for months now and it honestly keeps me from certain aspects of the game or forces me to keep my inventory open whenever I can, salvaging. For WvW I need a different set than I need for PvE, this can be as little as 6 slots wasted, but sometimes it goes up to 12-15. I waited out the whole March sales, which was already long enough. I just wish there’d been a week or so in between, not like a few hours. Especially since I’m on such a roll, makes me feel so stupid. :\

Gz on the Tooth of Frostfang! I’ve really been ment to try your guide to fill in the times I might have to go at any moment due to real life (and the game has like nothing fun not requiring a team or a queue :p) but I still haven’t. The mega-server update all in all has me a bit worried. For all the selfish reasons: I enjoy server hopping to quickly get all bosses done, I very much dislike needing to endure 2 loading screens due to the new WP-system (I don’t care about the extra 1-2s personally.)

Will it already change all World-bosses? I thought they were going through a semi-beta phase with city-maps, 1-15 zones (yes I know that includes a few of the best bosses) and then implent it, but I might have misunderstood.

Bought my 8th banktab yesterday. fml ;_;

I bought bagslots for all 8 of my human characters yesterday…. Was there_any_ anouncement of this what-so-ever? I’m starting to get a bit sick of my bad luck; use up 3 Make-over kits, next day, new hairstyles are released. Buy a bunch of expensive double skins; day later feature packs leading to Wardrope is released.

Could have had another bank tab for that… Or am I just missing some page where all this stuff does get announced? I feel very inclined to stop buying anything because a day after I’ll regret it anyway.

Edit: I am very happy they listened to the feedback though <3 I just dislike regretting my purchases.

Thanks guys for all responses.

Esmee, this is by far the most helpful and detailed for my needs response. I’m noting it down

I started to play warrior and guardian cause people recommended these classes for newbies. Now I would like to play something more challenging in meantime. I think I’ll try Mesmer and if I won’t like it I will try Ele. From all your descriptions Mesmer I get that is better to play Mesmer after Warrior.

Glad you didn’t pass out by viewing the wall of text I put down for you. I really hope you’ll find the class that’s right for you!

Some small tips that could have helped me when I started out my scholars:
- If you feel you die a lot try summoning a clone or phantasm before you attack (they die quickly, but as long as they get their first attack of that’s ok for now, the mob doesn’t tend to live long enough for a second to hit.) For Elementalist it helps having an Elemental around, just to take some fire of you.

- If you feel your damage is lacking, buy some (different) +10 power runes from the TP, they range between 16-50 copper and give you a huge buff on early levels.

- Struggle with weapon/attunement swapping, try to use a similar rotation to get used to whilst learning the cooldowns. For Mesmer I start of with a clone, then I tend to summon my Phantasm (every weapon has 1) swap and summon another, kind of straight forward (PS: I run Sword/Sword, Sword/Focus, so swapping only affects my phantasms, find something that works for you!)
For Elementalist it’s very weapon dependant, but most weapons start in Fire to put down a Firefield and then go to Earth where most of the blast-finishers are. A dagger/dagger rotation could look something like this: Fire #3 -> Fire #4 (Firefield) -> Fire #5, swap to Earth, Earth #4 (blast-finisher) -> Earth #3 (2x) -> Earth #2, swap to Air -> Air #4, Air #3, auto-attack in air. Though in most cases the mob dies before you get to go into Earth. :p Ye, Elementalist can be a bit complicated, but I find them very rewarding.

And it’s very important for almost any class to make your f1-4 skills easy accessible. I’d recommend finding a nice keybind for them. I can’t recommend anythough though since I personally use: 1-5 for skills 1-5, crtl + 1-4 for F1-4 abilities, Heal is on R, Utilities, Dodge, Interact, etc is all on my 12-button mouse.

I personally prefer fast guide over normal guide since the time I spend putting offers on the materials needed and the actual crafting I might aswell been out farming the gold-difference back. Or what usually is the case, doing something fun.

I suppose that is how we make gold from the TP, we should thank the people who sacrifice profit for convenience.

That was poorly written by me sorry, I ment I take the fast guide, place the offers (which are considerably less in numbers than the normal guide) do something on my 80 that will compensate (and more) for the loss. Whenever my buy-listings are filled, once again I’ll save time than if I’d be putting in all different recipes the Normal guide contains. Time = Money, it’s how people spend the time that makes they key-difference. I still use buy-offers like (almost) everyone else.

Say the Jewelcrafting guide currently; the normal one is 50s less than the fast one. I also know that making the buy-offers and the actual crafting will cost me atleast 5-10 minutes more, so unless you make less than 3-6 gold per hour, the fast guide would be more beneficial. It’s especially important for the cooking ones with the hearts, assuming you haven’t got full map completion. But if you can’t make 3-6 gold per hour, then in this case the Normal Guide would be more benficial.

Fixed in the quote. :p

I’m not worried about 2-5s per travel, but I do feel the coming update is trying to get as many goldsinks in as possible. I am worried how-ever about the inconvenience of having double loadings screens for most of the places you want to go to and having to guess if you can even go to the desired waypoint. My laptop is decent, but it’s a laptop, the loadingscreens are annoying. I can’t get a desktop either since I can’t sit in a chair without pain due to my disability.

The waypoint system was one of my favourite parts about gw2, it was so convenient, now I’m unsure it will still be.

Most all classes are welcome anywhere else but PvE dungeons. I don’t even do them myself because if you read the forums, dungeon runners are generally completely rabid and elitist about their groups. If you’re not full berserker, best spec for your party, and one of the highest dps classes, they don’t want you there.

Eles and warriors are pretty much the highest dps for dungeons right now so if you’re wanting cloth, I’d recommend you go with the ele instead of the mesmer.

Most EU LFG around midday/afternoon tend to ask for Mesmers more often than Elementalist. Likely since a lot of people are stuck in the CoF p1-farm, where you’d want 4 Warriors, 1 Mesmer. Though there’re ‘Full zerker, ping gear, 5k+ AP etc’ groups, I see plenty of groups forming with ‘Anyone Welcome’ or at the most ‘80s only!’ You shouldn’t be discouraged just because certain players prefer running with favour of the month classes. No reason to discourage people just because not every single group has the anyone-welcome mentality.

As for the OP:
In WvW all Scholars are in a good position. Necromancers are very useful with their Wells, Marks (Staff) and Plague Form (once traited you can spam blind and chill) in zergs. They’re not in the strongest position for roaming though. Mesmers provide amazing utility to a zerg in the forms of Veil (invisibility for the whole zerg) Portal (many uses) and Time Wrap. In the actual fights you’re not doing much more than trying to tag and pull people of walls with Temporal Curtain (focus.) Your usual weapons will be Staff (survivability purposes) Sword/Focus (or Scepter if you prefer.) Greatsword is very situational but can replace the Staff for more offensive play. Mesmers make great roamers with their stealth and clones. Elementalist usually provides fields (Fire for offense, Water for Healing) when the Commander asks for them and has plenty of CC to mess up a Zerg (Static Field from Air and Earth 4-5) They make decent roamers aswell.

In Dungeons/Fractals Necromancers are currently in a less beloved place, they have little blast-finishers, no cleave and no desired Fields, which currently makes them fall out of the meta, but they are rather easy to play and many groups welcome anyone. Elementalist is very beloved due to Fiercy Greatsword and situationally Frostbow for high damage and their potention to either deal huge amounts of damage and stack a bit of Might with perma Fury or stack tons of might at a slight personal DPS-loss. Mesmers are also very beloved due to their Reflects (Feedback, iWarden (focus, traited) and Temporal Curtain (focus, traited) which caused a lot of damage aswell as party protection. Be aware that Elementalist feel rather squishy compared to Warrior/Guardian, or any class really.

For Open-world any class does the job just fine. Elementalist is a bit squishy but deals huge damage (in AoE) If attunement swapping is an issue you can chose to use Staff, where it’s generally preferred to stay on fire and spam 1 + 2. How-ever I recommend using the friendly envoirment of Open-world PvE to get used to attunement swapping. Mesmer has a build-up on damage and limited AoE (Though once you get used to Sword/Focus you can get a far way with iWardens AoE and your cleave.) Don’t feel you have to use Greatsword, I see a lot of Mesmers do but I have no idea why, it’s a very situational weapon. Little survivability compared to Staff, low DPS in most situations compared to Sword, a weak Phantasm, average at most AoE, though it removes a boon. The only advantage is that it’s a Ranged weapon that can’t be reflected (except skill 2) very, very situational (I love it in early morning WvW though.) Necromancer is likely the friendliest for Open-world. Huge HP-pool along with an additional Health bar in the form of Death Shroud with plenty of AoE (Wells especially) to quickly dispatch mobs.

Hopefully this can give you some insight on what you’d like from a class and which would fit you the most.

I personally prefer fast over normal since the time I spend putting offers on the materials needed and the actual crafting I might aswell been out farming the gold-difference back. Or what usually is the case, doing something fun. But if you’re patience, use the Normal ones (Note: Cooking has fast, normal and depends on how many Hearts you’re willing to use, Hearts stand for Karma-vendors unlocked by completing a specific Heart, great if you have map-completion, not so much if you don’t.)

As on how to make money, crafts aren’t that populer to actually make money with, but http://www.gw2spidy.com/ has a crafting section showing you what will make a loss and what will make a profit (aswell as when you search for an item you can see if it’s cheaper to buy or craft.) Very helpful website. The Ascended Materials that are time-gated sell for a small profit usually aswell, and it can level you from 450-475! If you ment in general to afford the crafts to level or something:
-Dungeons
- Nodefarm
- Worldbosses
- Daily and trade in your Laurels for Heavy Crafting Bag (only do this if you have no intention of getting Ascended Trinkets!)
- Champtrains in Frostgorge Sound
This is not put in any particular order, I’d recommend doing something you enjoy how-ever.

Why should that be a bug? Krait were part of the alliance. So was the nightmare court. It would be great of someone officially could test/tell us if there’s actually a buff while fighting them? In dungeons and the open world?

The only ones that worked with Scarlet but weren’t officially part of the alliance was the inquest?

It would be a bug since not every Krait, nor every Dredge, nor every Nightmare Court member is part of the Molten, Toxic or Aetherblade Alliance. (Definitly due to the time-line, but from the Nightmare Court I’m 99% sure it was only a splinter faction that joined the Toxic Alliance.)

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t work that way though. I’m quite curious now. I’m drowning the those potions. I can back up that the other way around it doesn’t work.

new trait system dungeon issue

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

This would be great cause if u have 2 fury ele’s or 2 hammer guards it would be so easy to just quickly swap builds. Now if they do not allow it in dungeons, only arah p2 would be an option to log in and out (after lupi) this is if your go for a speed record otherwise the time it takes will not shorten the run

This, for pugging this will be a very nice addition. It’s not worth porting back and forth to retrait for a single path in the average pug, but after the update you can. I mainly play Guardian and Elementalist, though I enjoy every class and it’s always a shame if you have about a minute of Fury leftover since Persisting simply isn’t needed for that group. Or swap to Sw/F even though your build is for Hammer, in Guardians case. Engineer/Necromancer aswell if you build focusses on stacking most of the Vulnerability, though I don’t play these enough to judge. Or Warrior/Ranger with Empower Allies and Spotter. I don’t even run Empower Allies anymore since usually someone else already has it.

In SC I’d love to know when it would be worth the time to respec, though surely there are some situations and in casual dungeoneering. How many of you would respec for a certain fight? I mean respec, not just swap some traits around, which we already can. This is curiousity by the way, because I fail to see how this system will change much.

Party kick system

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

One more thread about this. But I understand that they have to do something against this system. Anyway, I play since beta and early access and run dungeons pretty often. While most runs were with guildies, I pug pretty often as well and I never got kicked. Maybe in Fractals the issue is more present but usually as my previous poster said you shouldn’t get kicked if you behave and stay friendly.

I’ve been kicked 3 times, 1x for selling (Arah) 1x for a friend, 1x I might have deserved it, but 2 people from the group pm’d me the kickers name and said I should report him (you can’t?) which makes me doubt I really deserved it, I simply asked if he could stop bashing our second Elementalist because he was doing alright. Ironicly they didn’t kick me instantly, but nicely waited for me to collect all Scepter pieces, because apprently no-one else could be bothered, which felt a bit like a slap in the face, if you’re going to kick, kick straight away. Then again, the Arah-sellers I grieved with the help of a friend, making me no better and the 3rd one karma hit in because I got an amazing full run group after, that managed to finish p1 before the old group and I had a lovely chat about builds, gear and Elementalist in general from the other Elementalist from the first group.

3 times isn’t much, but I do see people get kicked for the silliest reasons. Everytime I see someone get kicked I feel guilty and for about a week I don’t dare to say anything more than “Hi” “Thank you for the run” in other groups. And quite a few of my friends who play in different hours than I do mention they don’t feel like doing Fractals at all, considering how often they see abuse from the system. And let’s be realistic, 90% of the time you can see if a group is capable of finishing the Fractal or not. Kicking at the 4th Fractal is a tad ridicilous. And no-one in their right mind should want to ‘carry’ a friend up to the rewards/levels, if you want them to get on your fractal-level to play together, you want them to become experienced aswell, right?

TL;DR:
Anyway, all I’d like to see is a threat towards people who kick to sell (just making it reportable could make a difference.) And in groups of 5, why not make it 3 out of 5 votes to kick before the person gets kicked. Minor changes and it won’t stop everyone, but it might discourage certain people and tone down their behaviour.

For the Love of Taimi

Esmee.1067

Gee, never thought how much disabled people where into mmo’s. I myself see games as an escape from RL and I just stutter a little, but for ye must be such an inspiration or a place to free yer mind.
Kudos to all of ye and spread the love for Taimi!
I want to cuddle and hug her sooooo much.

Bit of a slow reply, but for quite a few disabilities gaming is a very logical way to spend your time. It makes a great distraction for me because it goes on even when I zoned out a little from my pain (ok, this is chronic pain-patients only.) Or to still be a bit social without having to rely on other people or need special support just to be able to attend. It helped me a lot when I went from reasonably healthy to obviously disabled, my friends weren’t too understanding, being young and having better things to do than adjust, in games it has never been a problem for me, or those I spend time with. It’s got me through my teenage years relatively well. I recently came back from rehabilitation, in which my activity therapy group completely fell in love with gaming aswell, especially the less creative types. It warmed my heart since it does me so well when older people are open-minded and begin to enjoy something completely alien to them, shame there’s an evident language barrier, but some were going to ask their grandchildren to play together with them! My therapists sadly weren’t as open-minded.

Games have been more than just an escape for me. The people I’ve met in them showed me there’s a lot more to me than just my disability, something even my friends couldn’t do. Or me, for that matter. Hence I find it an absolute gem they didn’t let the players know about Taimi’s disability until Edge of the Mist, Braham’s reaction was very fitting, yet sweet.

PS: Anyone have a Taimi printscreen from April Fools? I know it’s unlike, forgot to get one myself.

In regards to legendary update

in Crafting

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

You forget the best point Flissy made:

Where is the line drawn. What if I have 3 Ghastly Grinning Shields. Their peak is higher than FSP has ever been. Do I deserve a pretty title for that? Infinite Light is expensive too, what if I dual wield those. Say I have multiple Mjolnir. or Chainsaw skins.

If they will compensate 1 group of players, another will pop up and demand compensation for their double skins. The examples provided should say enough and yes those skins are cheaper than a Legendary (mostly,) but those skins are still a fair amount of effort. Everyone loses value in their belongings to some extend (unless there is some person out there with no double skins what-so-ever.) But no-one loses what they worked for, what they’ve enjoyed for a while until the patch hits. It’s not like they take away your Legendary and donate it to some poor orphan. (Even if they did, it’s their property and they can do what-ever they want, a safety precausion in any terms of agreement.)

They improved their game, possibly a bit late, but in a few months everyone will have benefited from it in some way or another. Maybe by then you’re the one double-wielding a real + fake Bolt along-side with your real and another real Incinerator.

How-ever if they give out some title for double Legendary owners I won’t complain. I’d be quite happy even. I’d just find it a bit ridicilous and don’t support the idea of compensation when all they do is improve their game.

Not to mention a single person with enough money to do that, likely knows markets better than this. I assume it’s people rushing to get a Legendary with the patch coming out, especially those who struggled deciding whether to get it for their beloved Warrior or Guardian. Maybe 1 or 2 people trying to gain a monopoly. Patience will be the key here, though I’m sorry for those who only need 1 more component; the precurser. Patience can be difficult.

Should crafting be account bound?

in Crafting

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

I agree with Wanze, the prices for any non-t5-6 material depends largely on leveling up the craft, with the exceptions of those used in Ascended Crafting (think Linen…) Or atleast, I see little use for it other-wise. No-one would want markets to die out.

I’m also a big fan of the leveling with crafting. Sure it’s rather expensive for most crafts for ‘just’ 7 levels, but for me it’s worth it. I much rather play with all my utilities, traits and weapons, it makes the game more fun for me, where-as leveling feels like a grind for most of it. But I know some people would love to see that nerfed, I understand their reasons aswell, some people need the leveling process to get any clue about their class, but most don’t after a couple of 80s.

Lastly, almost everything comes out either Accountbound or not bound at all. So I’m not sure how Crafts being bound to a character really has a negative effect on anyone. Unless I missed something vital? If you have 1 toon with all crafts even though there’s enough slots to make alts for them, you likely won’t craft enough to really care about the 40s fee. (Assuming with Accountbound you also want the crafts to be available without swapping, if not, eek!)

Party kick system

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

I completely agree that there should be something done about these matters, I’m afraid to join certain teams aswell, it actually has kept me from pugging Fractals for about a month, close to two now, and dread when I see people from the same guild or even 2 friends, simply because it I have seen the abuse too often. With uncertain playtimes and schedules I find it a difficult task to find the right guild for me aswell.

Whole groups starting to ‘rotate’ people after the second Fractal because they felt a more optimal team was needed, which could often be judged beforehand or at the very least after the first Fractal. Same in Dungeons where I’ve even seen people kick just because they didn’t like someone’s attitude, and I’m not talking about absolute kittens, I’m talking about decent people who didn’t stroke someone’s ego enough. Or the worst… People kick to sell the spots, which I try to report, I highly doubt that does anything. I must admit I’ve grieved back a few times by joining their sale with a buddy and quickly kick the opener, which once again shows how easy it is to abuse this system.

Sadly, I’ve yet to see a game where this isn’t in some way an issue. Especially when we’re talking groups where you’re the 5th and the others are all guildies. Luckily my experience is limited so there might be hope.

The whole system could use a bit of polishing in my opinion: Instance owner leaves = everyone’s time wasted, issues when someone grieves or decides to leech the last 2 fractals since ‘you can’t kick me anyway, I opened.’ Sometimes you kick someone and they get to stay in the instance, preventing a 5th from joining. (Only seen this at the start of Dungeons though, so re-opening is still an option.) Problem is; how?

For some skins they’ve done that through March sales, wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a similar concept. It makes people more inclined to make ‘panic’-buy since it’s only there for one day and give people another chance for those lovely skins.

I’d love it, find it unlikely, but would love it!

Cheers, Seafarer’s Rest it is.

When you enter the WvW-map I’d recommend asking for the community TS (and website if you’d like.) You don’t have to talk, just listening is fine (and will definitly help you stay alive.) Welcome to SFR!

I have a few questions.
Which range class would you recommend me the most for WvW? (+ build?)

TL;DR – Elementalist is perfectly fine. Mesmer, Necromancer and Engineer is viable aswell. If you decide another role, I’m more than willing to suggest a build, so will anyone else from the SFR-WvW community. (use that map-chat, they’re lovely people!)

Reasoning/Roles:
Mesmer – You’ll provide Veil (invisibility for the whole zerg) Portal (for Golems) and Timewrap mostly given them a unique hit or miss role. Usually played with any/Focus and Staff (Defensive) and Greatsword (Offensive) which are both ranged.
Necromancer – Staff with any/Warhorn is usually picked. Marks on the wall and for their damage. Wells (with groundtargetting specced) for damage and their utility. But tends to Frontline in Plague Form, besides that, ranged.
Elementalist – Staff is the usual choice for Zerging, full effect at max Range and thus in my opinion the best choice for a Ranged class, atleast one of.
Engineer – Grenadekit is a good ranged damage option. Some playstyles are better done in melee though (like bombs.)
Ranger – I’m cluess about Ranger, nice Waterfield in their heal though.
Thief – Usually in the back to kill stranglers, but I only roam with them unless the zerg needs more numbers for a short time. So I can’t give much insight on them.
Warrior – Don’t play it at range. (Or without Hammer – Any/Warhorn)
Guardian – Don’t play it at range. (Staff = 900, it’s not ranged! :p)

Have your pick.

And does anyone have a WvW elementalist build?

Thanks in advance!

This is what I run for Zerging on Elementalist (note: beware of the 15th of april patch, especially with runes.)
zerg-build
Try to use as many Berserker pieces you can handle without dying. I tend to swap some Soldier’s pieces in or out depending on who’s commanding. Celestial is more than viable aswell, but difficult to obtain (timegated)

Edit: If roaming is more your thing I’d go something along the lines of:
roaming-build
Heal and Gear is preference, if I wasn’t too cramped in storage-space I’d like run Knights with Cavalier Trinkets for more Toughness, possible even Traveller runes to get around easier. Ranged isn’t really as viable for Roaming due to easy dodges and our Staff is more a utility weapon. S/F does wonders too apparently, but I got no build nor experience on that one.

Transmuted Ascended gear?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

Is it still going to be soulbound in the new patch?

Your equipment now consists of 2 parts:
1) Core. Rarity, stats, upgrades
2) Appearance
The second part isn’t linked to the first. If your item have ascended rarity it will be account bound – it doesn’t matter how your item looks

But when it goes acc bound what if you have transmuted your ascended armor with cultural armor? Does it still not matter?

If a character wears cultural armor not of their race it makes them naked.

Curiousity question: Can you equip the cultural armor at all? (On a different race)

I wouldn’t mind the option, but I don’t see how it’s an issue either. Just buy an Equiment bag is it really forms an issue for you.

[Suggestion] Glowing mask, DYABLE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Esmee.1067

Esmee.1067

I think the problem is more tha glow effects have more than one color, and nothing with a glow is colorable in game. Like weapons, flamekissed armor, hellfire/radiant armor, CoF armor ?

Please correct me if i’m wrong and there are colorable glowing pieces

It’s not my area of expertise, but if they can do it in the Beta (CoF armor) and in gw1 with the Chaos Gloves, I highly doubt it’s impossible.

I’d love if the Glowing Crimson Mask was dyeable (slightly kills the name) same with the Necromancer starter-one.

The sense of entitlement in this topic is dazzling. I do feel for anyone with any duplicates, don’t get me wrong. But things like “Anet NEEDS” “I have the RIGHT” A-net doesn’t need to do anything and they owe you nothing, the game is in their hands.

All we can do is make suggestions, like the OP has done and raise awereness to issues, but whichever descision A-net makes, is the one we’ll all have to life with.

And on that note I’d like to express my concern about the Eternity issue, I think it would be a smart step for Anet to prevent Eternity’s market sinking and that it’d be unwise to just count on very few people being able to abuse it. Anything else concerning the Wardrope and Legendaries would be a bonus in my eyes.

… Also in GW2 we don’t have angels. Thus dragon wings and the “small bird with a beak” is the closes thing you can get.

But in GW1 we did (of a type)

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Avatar_of_Dwayna_

Not to mention Paragons, their theme was about as Angelic as could be, in both animations and armor. So it might not (yet) be in GW2, but it’s definitly in their lore… Oh how I wish Guardians animations looked more like Paragons.

And how I love this skirt: http://blog-assets.bigfishgames.com/uploads/2013/08/DervishDwaynaAvatarMonk.jpg (yes, I fail at making links.)

One last question: Do I need ascended gear in order to survive in WvW? And by surviving I guess I mean will I be able to contribute without always having to fear for my life?

People who do the maths generally state full Ascended is a 5% increase in Defense and Damage. As a min-maxer I wouldn’t say 5% won’t matter, but it’s far from needed. I personally feel fine in Exotic, damage and survivability-wise.

The toes sticking out of boots actually ARE them clipping. Because boots are made for a human foot.

Ye, wish a tiny bit more attention would have been paid to the reskinning. But I specificly ment T1 Cultural which doesn’t have toes sticking out, but the feet clip through a little.

I remember a similar question on reddit, and we found that there were only a few boots that don’t have asura toes sticking out. The ones apart from T1 cultural were:

Exalted boots (looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/dk29LUm.jpg.) (Disclaimer: Boots are that colour for visibility!)

Radiant & Hellfire boots: Not really achievable quickly unless you’ve 21,000 achievement points.

I’ll try Exhalted, thank you!

Edit: That’s perfect! The armor slightly clips through it which can be easily fixed with dyes. Getting them straight away. Thanks you so much! Now I’m even happier with my little Asura.

I’m not quite sure what the issue is? Availability? Since they’re in the store for another week. Working Machine? Ask a friend to use theirs/do it for you, depending on trust. Real life money/Gems? It’s 10 euro’s, so 1 week should be possible, or farm some gold.

Esmee.1067

Ok…… I guess I haven’t reached the temples in Orr. I’ve got 53,000 karma – will that be enough to buy my armor there?

It won’t be enough for a whole set, more like 1 piece. For Berserker and Soldier armor there’re a few ways to go:

- Buy it on the Trading Post (I expect around 5g/piece max)
- Runs dungeons (Ascelonian Catacombs/Citadel of Flame are likely the easiest for those stats)
- Do some WvW and buy the Armor for coins and Badges of Honour. In World v World you get upscaled, so you could do your last 10 levels like that if you’d like. If being upscaled scares you Edge of the Mist is an option, it’s WvW, yes, but it tends to end up being more of a champtrain.

I’d agree with anyone suggesting:
- Invaders/Soldier’s Armor filled with Ruby Orbs (until 15th of April patch)
- Berserker Trinkets filled with Exquisite Ruby Jewels
- Berserker Staff (Preferably 1x Bloodlust, 1x Force/Energy/Hydromancy, depending on your preference, I’d recommend Force if you intend to PvE aswell.)

All for the cost of increasing the plague of Guardians thinking Staff is actually a good weapon – great …

Let’s face it, people that believe this is the way to play, most likely don’t read the forums, considering PvE-Guardian has one of the most well-composed guides. I can handle people playing like this, though I definitly preferred to avoid them, but I do mind when they go around telling people how to play, it might spread!

Vent-time, I had a Staff-spamming Guardian telling me I should use Staff because my weapons sucked big-time (Hammer + Greatsword in that situation, possible Sword/Focus + Greatsword, can’t recall exactly.) And that Guardians were useless without: “Stand you Ground” “Hold the Line” and “Signet of Judgement” I wonder if he thought Riverside suddently turned into Monsters and Eternal Battlegrounds into a Dungeon. You really think someone like that has ever read the forums?

(disclaimer: this judgement is based on content requiring a team where staff is usually not the best weapon to stay on for longer periods of time, I do agree it’s an amazing tagging-weapon.)

So the results are +/- 118g 35s 2c in gold, 2335 Gems in items (assuming you have use for all the items I listed, since that’s personal.) which in 1 currency would be 4088 gems with a 4000 Gems investment, or 274g 96s 27c for a 270g investment. With the potentional of +50-150g if you wait patiently with selling the Ticket-Weaponskins.

Yeah, but all that stuff is useless XD (At least for me anyway). I’d rather buy a cool armor set or something with gems. Or a Bank tab, Or infinite tools. Or character slots. You know, things that actually matter!

Oh well, thx for posting the results. It’s posts like these that prevent me from losing a lot of money/gold, because it shows that the drops aren’t for me.

You’d still break even with just the tickets, but that’d require patience, something you should have assuming you want profit with BL-Weapons, but also speculation dependant, so I didn’t want to go there.

I’m not much of a gambler in the first place, but if you like only 1 out of the many outcomes rather than a few it should be quite clear before-hand it’s not going to be worth it, if it was, everyone would invest in keys just for the gold profit.

Hairstyle kits, make-over kits and Transmutation stones are used once in a while by the majority of players judging from how many you see walking around in the kit-unique appearances and in armor that doesn’t have the corrosponding stats. The keys got counted since well, the OP spend money on them in the first place. The kit can be argued, I like it as lucky drop, but it’s by far not worth 300 gems.

So back to what I started the post with: The outcome could have been a lot worse (I expected it to be a lot worse.)

How do I do the CoF solo-parts?

Esmee.1067

Mesmer is super-duper slow, but groups have forced me to do it in the past. I did warden-swordsman-signet of ether-sworsdman-blurred frenzy. Not sure if the third phant is necessary, but it wasn’t the slowest I’ve ever seen someone do it.

Mesmer definitly won’t be the fastest around, especially since you have 1 or 2 utilities less (portal slot for sure and Blink if the group is quick) but I usually don’t find it too bad on par with most other classes. It’s not an Elementalist/Thief/Warrior though. Just snooping for things I haven’t tried, like using FGS, choice between slower gate or less might-stacking at the beginning of the boss unless someone else provides a firefield. It’s the magmacite field I struggle with and it’s a huge annoyance if the team ports back without any communication and then slowing the run down even more by failing to get across, and only 1 of those 2 things can be changed

So I made a little Asura yesterday, about time, to see their personal story aswell. I thought long and hard about which class and I settled with making another Elementalist, but I start to slightly regret it, are there any boots that
1. Don’t have toes sticking out.
2. Don’t clip?

It’s quite a major issue for me, I’d even consider basing my armor around a proper boot, so far I’ve tried T1 Cultural, but sadly it clips, nor were they very pretty. I’ve settled with TA-boots for now, no toes covered is none sticking out, but not 100% happy with it. Suggestions?

GW2: WORST Cash shop. Stop being stingy ANET

in Black Lion Trading Co

Esmee.1067

1.) This is pure marketing. Limited time offers work and scarcity encourages impulse/quick purchases. It also plays well into financially ‘manipulating’ the sales performance at the company.

It works wonders on me and I think on many other people. So I’d say it’s a smart descision from A-net, if anything, make more ‘possible’ returns for items, such as with the March Sales, triggered even more impulse buys from me due to ‘oh I got another chance, might never get this again!’

2.) No comment

I quite wonder how many of these 1-time conveniences people spend money on. E.g. The Banker Golem. I’d spend more cash to have it permanently, maybe even on all toons, definitly 2-4. So I think point 2 is a good idea, but maybe I’m too shortsighted.

3.) Gem prices overall are fine as is. Yes, there are some items that could be fixed but overall it’s in a good position. Remember that this is a B2P game and the gemstore prices reflect this. You also cannot forget about the gem-gold conversion.

I agree most prices are fine, the ones I’d change:, items with a time-limet (boosters for example) or useage limit (Black Lion Kit) seem very unpopular, or is it a mixconception?

4.) This is a marketing scheme, as it encourages you to spend more to use those gems, or sell off the remaining as gold.

I’ve hardly run into situations I’d have gems left-over (if I do I rather go gold → gems to fill a gab, but that’s not the point) since what I assume are the most popular choices (Outfits/Crystals) are already 800 gems. I don’t see the convenience nor inconvenience overall though.

5.) I agree with this, but no mounts

I totally missed the mount suggestion. More items!

Question of interest, what makes mounts so special? So many people either really want them or really don’t want them, for someone who feels completely indifferent (what-ever is the fastest, using my abilities or a mount, makes little differents to me) it’s though to grasp.
