-Early levels are incredibly dull. Early hearts/quests are too simplistic and bland.
True, but apparently this was an issue for not experienced gamers. What, like 12 hearts got adjusted?
-Traits take far too long to open up
Level 60 was already the case since launch. No change there.
I do agree that the trait system needs fine tuning.-Utility slots take far too long to unlock.
They are at level 13 / 17 / 19 now. With exception of the first utility this is at about the same pace as before (time wise).
-“Tutorial” process
You can easily just click it away with 1 button… and more often than not you get loot.
It’s not a tutorial, it’s simply pointing out game specifics. You’d be amazed how many people miss out on them.
I agree with everything you say except the traits. Before the April 2014 Feature Patch, traits were:
Adept (1-10 points) Unlocked: Level 11.
Master (11-20 points) Unlocked: Level 40.
Grandmaster (21-30 points) Unlocked: Level 60.
After the April 2014 Feature Patch:
Adept (1-2 points) Unlocked: 30.
Master (3-4 points) Unlocked: 60.
Grandmaster (5-6 points) Unlocked: 80.
Note the point disparity does not make a difference (5 points old system = 1 point new system).
If you would like more information on the old trait system, information is available here.
If it’s the best, why bother looking for more?
EotM is PvE + WvW. There, you’re all happy.
Now the reason why guild bonuses aren’t applied is because EotM is not tied to your world.
Oh wait, we have global guilds. scratches head
Staff S/P see Bamf Joe for shatter combinations. Just be careful with new sword3, along with light aura instead of retal (sword3 is only 1 leap for you).
Dang, I just tested Shadow Protector. Yeah it doesn’t work with that. It’s the only stealth trait I have. I’m not sure what you mean by your statement, Justine? Are you asking to see if dropping Snow Leopard will maintain Prowl (it only lasts ~5 seconds, anyways)?
EDIT: If you meant to ask:
Does Prowl persist after leaving Snow Leopard form?
The answer is yes.
You can stealth ontop of it, but it doesn’t stack duration and leaves you with the Decoy/multiple stealth visual bug where you look normal even though you are still stealthed.
Note that this visual bug is only going to be on your client, so in WvW or PvE, you will still be stealthed.
I did not test to see if Prowl gives Revealed.
(edited by Esplen.3940)
Statistical rare occurrences are normal because they’re what people cling to and remember.
You should be able to see enemy names without setting visible characters to max. You want FoV to be at max to be able to see them before they get to you, though.
Toughness, Healing Power, Condition Damage, Power, Precision Elegant Tailor’s Backpack.
Kind of ironic considering both Knight’s and Celestial are offered and give the correct stats. Was hoping I could pick Assassin’s, oh well.
Love the name, though.
You can just put on two-step verification to use your phone or email. I would suggest using your phone.
Umm there are what 2 mesmer meta builds that dont include focus reflects?
Fixed that for you.
Yes, we make flags that stretch when you run but not while you stand still. The that sounds like a very realistic cloth.
um…………..hate to break it to you………but cloth stretches when forces are put against it, like wind. the stretch is barely noticable anyway if you don’t like it.
Considering the cloth physics don’t make it fall down while you’re standing still (it stays up straight), and then how it stretches, it doesn’t look realistic at all.
Have you guys actually seen the guild symbols while you’re moving?
Yes, we make flags that stretch when you run but not while you stand still. The that sounds like a very realistic cloth.
Actually, you can have half-percentile stats. The number will be rounded down in the equipment menu, but it won’t mean you don’t have that critical chance…
I highly doubt I’ll be leveling that Thief (I prefer Asura Thief because Norn Daggers on Asura <3) since it’s one of three Thieves, and not the level 80 one.
Of course, I’ll double check the traits I have.
So you want the Crown Pavilion?
What’s an auto attack?
Thats my Charr Mesmer their awesome
They’re*…
If you’re going to be a Mesmer, at least act… straightens dress proper.
Can you linki me the updated precision mantra build?
Btw the reflect build is to summon 3 as fast as you can and keep 3 as much as you can.
While keeping lot of reflect uptime. Its not that bad at all…got forgot when iwarden was bugged, now that it works again i’m starting to remember why it was so good.
Well you can go warden, signet, warden, curtain, feedback, warden. Enough time for that. Without dps loss…
it’s usually warden signet warden curtain waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, waiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, feedback, waiiiiiiiiiit, waiiiiiiiiiiiit, warden.
Okay, telling me I need to reflect things on my Mesmer while I go into a dungeon with a group labelled “meta build” is clearly giving me tips on how to play since I don’t.
Thank you everyone for opening my eyes, I’ll try to make less jokes next time.
(/sarcasm)
Also, ironically, in WoW lore, Hunters were like Fighter Assassins. They would stalk their prey and then go in for the kill with axes in hand (not tossing them, mind you). If they did have an animal companion, the animal companion would stalk and hunt with them.
The term Hunter reflected that, as they were good predators, aka hunters.
Archer is a term for people who shoot arrows. If your profession/class is an Archer, it makes sense for you to shoot.
And a Ranger is simply an armed person. The term Range in Ranger is not actually a defining point of that name, unlike Archer (archery) and Hunter (hunting).
The reason why Ranger is not actually defined by the term Range is because the word is a translation off of a translation off of a translation, which means somewhere along the line, it got lost in translation (and yes, I really just wanted to have a sentence with the word translation 5 times).
Rangers are, in Old England, keepers of parks and forests.
In even older times, they are even referred to as lines of soldiers/armed men, wanderers, soldiers.
The term Rangers in English became widely used after Britain trained a new type of soldier, a Ranger, whose main job was to be able to fight with each group of rangers fighting from different ranges while fighting heavily fortified settlements.
The reason why it isn’t practical be a lone archer is because you’re extremely open. Having an animal companion won’t really make you less susceptible to harm. Typically, if you wanted to protect yourself, you could get a shieldbearer to stand in front of you and take turns drawing your bow string and then having the shieldbearer pop down while you fire. This also required an extreme amount of coordination and is/was useful in coordinated battles. Of course, it also requires 2 people for one bow. Not one person and one animal.
Oh, that’s not it. I expect everyone to suck. I also expect people to not tell each other how to play unless they ask for help.
I suppose those are unreal expectations, but if I’m “running a meta build” I shouldn’t be asked to bring reflects to a dungeon full of projectiles.
I hate when people tell me to slot Time Warp, Feedback, and Portal. If you want to tell me how to play a Mesmer, why aren’t you on one instead? I know how to do my duty, and that’s all that I care about. If you want to do my duty for me, get on your own Mesmer, don’t get on mine.
I also am capable of soloing plenty of content, so it’s not a matter of getting good or lucky with PuGs, but just a matter of doing it with others to make it go by faster. I also have internet problems when my entire family is home so it’s nice to have a buffer in case I disconnect.
They aren’t rings, just fyi.
Just a warning on the new backpack, it stretches while you run and looks very displeasing. Also the stripes are unmodifyable and do not correspond to any of your guild colors.
No. It was bad.
But it is bad in it’s current state too. There must be a 3rd solution.
Add Echo.
Thank you Jerus and Angel. The reason why I don’t care about the meta build part is that I don’t care what everyone else runs.
Obviously, I know what I’m supposed to do in dungeons and will run the appropriate builds, swapping traits, weapons, and utilities when necessary.
However, asking someone if they have something so blatantly obvious is like asking if a Thief has stealth or blinds.
And I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, fishball, I’ve been pugging since before GW1 and I’ve pretty much seen it all.
Most of my characters were Elonian (other than Pre-searing, god bless Ascalon). However, I would always find myself going back there and learning something. I would usually skip some text or not realize the exact wording/range meant there when it said “nearby”.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ineffable_Orichalcum_Imbued_Inscription
Requires over 50 Ectoplasm to complete.
The advantage is an item of slightly lower level that’s account bound with chosen stats. This is used for alt characters, but is not monetarily worth it. You are better off paying to get dungeon rewards and boosting yourself to 80 than making these items.
I’m glad someone read through my wall.
There are two variants of this skill. One of them lets you use a ground-targeted version (if you don’t have fast-casting enabled) and the other forces you to jump to a defined location. There aren’t any force jumps in Dry Tops, if I can recall correctly. You might want to check your casting options.
Btw Koki, that was beautiful. Especially when he still didn’t roll at the end.
Also, the Compass didn’t halp me find Robb.
The compass was telling me that I needed to map a little bit more in a zone (I have 100% map completion and all of the explorer achievements). It basically brought me to a corner and told me that I needed to explore past the corner. Funtimes.
One of the slots is an Agony Resistance Slot.
The other slot is an Agony Infusion Slot.
The Agony Infusion Slot can only take in Agony Infusions.
The Agony Resistance Slot can only take in Agony Resistances.
If you want to get +10 AR, you will need a +5 Agony Infusion and +5 Agony Resistance item. The +5 Agony Resistance item can be purchased at the Fractal Hub. The +5 Agony Infusion requires 16 +1 Agony Infusions and 8 Thermo-Reagents.
I have a 50 something Norn thief (one of my 4 thieves), I can try testing some of the traits tomor- nevermind, I have no traits on her.
Dagger DPS is high because of Backstab and Heartseeker. The auto chain is pretty weak if you have to go through the entire chain.
If you could have a skill that you can cast, AoE, in between the auto 1-2 you could improve the 2target dps, but #2345 are all single target, bar Death Blossom and Bouncing Blades, both of which aren’t going to be good for power DPS.
Sword, on the other hand, cleaves to 3 targets as opposed to 2 and also has AoE on Pistol Whip. All other skills are going to be single target, bar Bouncing Blades.
I got kicked out of a CM group the other day because it was listed as all paths and that I had to have a meta build.
I only joined because it was doing all paths and I didn’t care about the meta build part.
Within the first 10 seconds of me loading into CM, they ask if I have reflects. I’m playing a Mesmer. So I reply, “What are Reflects?” Instantly, I was looking at a Queensdale load-screen.
Glad I didn’t run with them. I ended up swapping to my Thief and doing a run with some other people where I ended up soloing all of the Inquest technology (never done CM with my Thief before, so that was interesting) and doing some other fun things that I’d never done before. It was a learning experience although I know a lot of mechanics well so it wasn’t that bumpy. It was actually quite fun compared to my Mesmer where it’s mostly just: Stack → Reflect → Stack → Reflect → Reflect → Stack.
Instead it was: Stealth → Stack → Stealth → Stack → Stealth → Stealth → Stack.
Oh wait…
What is best to do if your party exploits?
Be sure to know how the game works before accusing people maybe?Reflect is a skill: its purpose is… to reflect projectiles.
Using skill in their intended way is not an exploit.Anet only cares for PvP so we get those ridiculous attack that if reflect to the boss kill him fast.
ANET answer usually is making everything unreflectable and unblockable, and then nerfing Critical damage and dps if people do the only thing left in the game: damage.
But will never be able to ban anyone for using skills exactly as intended.
Pretty much this.
Now if by somehow reflecting his attack you caused him to stop attacking forever or the rest of the dungeon to freeze up, then that would be a bug that should be reported (see: Bouquet of Roses vs Lupicus) however reflecting a projectile doesn’t really seem that far-fetched.
Literally within your price range. Check out the comments for some other builds.
I was surprised to know that being downed was gated.
It was quite a shock to instantly die as soon as I reached 0 health because the down mechanic is an integral part of the game. It actually helps balance the fact that squishy people are squishy and to alleviate the stress of playing perfectly while learning how to play perfectly.
Then again, it is only for a few levels so I guess it’s not a big deal, but my main problem is that gating is not the same as introducing.
What I feel Arenanet should have done is kept everything ingame as it was before the change and instead added things to introduce things to us. The dodging tutorial is great, because it’s hands on and you can do it before or after that and you don’t have to do it at all. It really made me remember the Elona training ground where you could talk to NPC’s to get an idea of ranges and skills and all sorts of other things if you cared to read.
Instead of adding ways of explaining how things are done, they prevented players from using them and decided that ungating them one at a time would make it easier for new players.
Why not just have new players have access to everything and also introduce it every level? The level-up bonuses are great (bar the stats), but they also make it seem like the next level rewards are things you can’t do when really they’re things that you sometimes can do but they haven’t told you that you can do.
It shouldn’t be a focus on what is and is not gated and a focus on what is in the game and describing an integral part of the game every level, slowly.
You don’t teach someone how to ride a bicycle by giving them a chair and then adding some pedals and then allowing them to move the pedals, and then giving them a handlebar, etc, etc. You teach them how to ride a bicycle by pushing them on it (while also holding it to keep them from falling) or using training wheels to prevent them from falling. You give them access to the whole package, but you hold them up.
Stop holding players hands and instead teach them all the things they can do. We don’t want to give new players fish. We want to teach them how to fish.
ArenaNet, please sell us Continuation Coins that will allow us to enter SAB!
You make money and We have fun! =D Everybody Wins!Sell an 800-gem “Gift of Super Adventure” that places a smaller Super Adventure Box in our home instances accessible all the time. This is the only thing I’ll buy gems for from now on, at least until you make some major changes in other things.
BUT MOTO DIDN’T SELL OUT HIS COMPANY… yet…
Huehuehue.
If you’re competent at Ranger, you can do a Sword 22 GS3 for triple leap, but it requires good timing and has a few wonky delays.
Necromancer and Mesmer sort of have swiftness, but… that’s about it. Mesmer has good in-combat mobility with Blink and other teleports, but it’s not enough to move around a map quickly. Even using Phase Retreat spam won’t make it fast enough to compare to leaps.
As long as you’re not getting hit, stow weapon will act as a cancel action button as well. I have mine bound to X for RP purposes, but it works for breaking res in case you get bugged where moving won’t cancel it.
Not the best option for stopping auto attacks, but it’s an option that’s usable in more ways.
It’s possible to do it alone… except for the very first part where you have to stand on two levers.
The reason why I don’t consider Fleet Shadows fast for Thieves is that, to my knowledge, you’re not going to want to be running 2+ stealth skills and stealth traits while fastcapping camps.
If you can slide that into a condi build, more power to you (I don’t play Thief TOO much), and yes you can stack stealth with Pistol 5 → Sb2 which is almost as good as Smoke Screen → Sb2. I just feel like it’s wasting a lot of potential for super speed versus playing Engie/Warrior who can maintain swiftness and leap.
I make mah Quip and I laff it so mash.
I can shoot confetti once every 25 seconds!
That would be nice. Could also do something like…
+1 dungeon tokens of your current run type (or of all dungeons) when you get dungeon hobbyist.
I doubt anything would be possible for salvaging without being overpowered. The +1 dungeon token would be nice, but not gamebreaking in any way.
I sometimes use it in casual teaching Arah paths. I play a really small asura so having a nice colorful symbol on top of my head helps people follow me without having to ask someone to tag me.
Probably level gated.
Engie is good because of perma swiftness + super speed + rocket boots. Of course, that’s purely mobility and will make it hard to take camps solo.
Warrior will have good mobility and still be able to solo camps.
Thief can probably solo camps, but the mobility isn’t superb compared to the other two.
Remember to focus down the two scouts in camps to get rid of blinds first. Once they’re dealt with, take out the guards to prevent the immobilizes.
If you ever go down, take a dolyak down with you (if you can). Scouts are also pretty squishy.
Try not to fight the Camp leader until the scouts are dealt with. You can easily dodge the leader along with the guards, but the immobilize and cc might be annoying.
How about this Zaxares…
When you complete the Fractal Weapon Collection, you get a box that gives you your Fractal Weapon of choice.
GENIUS!
