I return (with a double post). Haven’t done weapons (doubt I will) but here’s the Trinkets and Armors stats.
Just some notes:
Trinkets Tertiary and Quarternary stats are only on Ascended. For the Exotic versions, I put Gem information,
If you want the appended version, as long as you have Primary/Secondary/Secondary stats, you have a:
Amulet:
9.57% Primary, 7.59% Secondary Improvement
Ring:
11.96% Primary, 7.94% Secondary Improvement
Accessory:
12.35% Primary, 9.09% Secondary Improvement
Another note: Celestial Backpieces have no equivalent Gem. This is why the stat gain from Exotic to Ascended is so significant (hard to count a gem, but off the top of my head the answer would be: 21.74% overall stat gain using a level 65 Jewel.
Exo3/4 on Backpacks are Crafted Backpacks and use a level 65 Jewel.
Tl;dr: (or couldn’t understand mah pictarz, which are outdated by the time you read this)
Shoulder/Gloves/Shoes have the most stat gain from Celestial Exo→Asc.
Pants have the most Primary stat gain from Exo→Asc.
Helm then Chest have the most Secondary Stat gain from Exo→Asc.
For the most part, Light armor users gain the most percentage in armor from one item to the next (bar pants).
Celestial Trinkets were borked. Appropriate numbers are:
5.56% Amulet.
kitten Rings.
7.89% Accessories.
These all assume you are using Celestial + Celestial Jewel.
Questions? Comments? I know my images are outdated and hard to read. They’re for me, not you.
This thread kicked my butt, so I went ahead and did the spreadsheet I was procrastinating. So far, I’ve done all armors and trinkets (+backpiece*).
*: Celestial will be done shortly, gonna craft myself a 78 backpack for greater science!
You have to have any one of the three campaigns (Prophecies, Nightfall, Factions) and Eye of the North.
Baby faces or too humany, summed up in short.
You have your young adult female, your middle aged female, and your granny female. And by female, I mean female human.
Then there’s the 3 creepy baby faces that would work if we had more control in the contortions.
You don’t need any AR to do above 10. I got to 24 before getting any AR (pre-Fractured, but the ticks of agony still deal the same amount).
Sounds like you haven’t actually played Mesmers.
Ranger. No class has to micro manage horrible AI at a godly level in order to maintain viability at top tier.
Hi. Have you met Mesmers?
Zerk necro has nowhere near lowest damage.
Zerk necro has one of the highest damage pure, self damage in the game. That is to say damage they deal without using bundles or AI (sorry Mesmer).
However, necro in PvE is extremely selfish. They give nothing to the party and take everything. They take Might stacks, they take Fury (although not entirely necessary), they take Banners and EA/SiN/Spotter and Spirits, they take conjured weapons, they just take everything.
What do they give?
- DPS (Thieves can give as much DPS and provide nearly unlimited Stealth and Blasts).
- Vulnerability stacking (Engineers can give more Vulnerability along with Stealth, Blasts, Might, and more).
That’s pretty much where the list ends.
Actually, I wish they would take that one step further. Put all currencies in the wallet. Have no temporary currencies.
If they insist on having more temporarily useful junk to clutter our bags and banks with, perhaps clearly label the currency itself with an “expiration” date and put in a permanent currency exchange NPC that exchanges expired currencies for something at least slightly useful.
And remove Piles of Silky Sand and Pieces of Aetherkey’s while you’re at it.
My inventory/bank have:
- Piles of Silky Sand
- Geodes
- Pieces of Aetherkeys
- Aetherkeys
- Queen’s Gauntlet Tickets (~2,250)
- Festival Tokens (~750)
- Bauble Bubbles
- Baubles (had an entire character’s inventory full before I deleted them all)
- Fortune Scraps
- Dragon’s Jade Claim Tickets
Totaling to:
10 unique Trophys/CURRENCIES
20 unique stacks (before counting stacks on stacks on stacks on stacks of stacks of Baubles)
EDIT: Make that 2545 Queen Gauntlet Tickets (11 stacks)
(edited by Esplen.3940)
It’s funny, I’ve lost the fanboy in me. This is literally a mechanic that is made and working as intended.
Just imagine if someone could get 2 dailies by doing the PvP and PvE dailies in one day (they used to be separated). Would that be fair to players who only did one type of the game? Thankfully, players were only able to get 1 Laurel regardless of which daily they completed.
I heard we were getting mounts with cloaks/capes
You forgot the Guild Halls.
Yeah, it sucks that something timegated to make you craft one a day limits you to crafting only one a day.
/sarcasm
HERE WE GO AGAIN
i got my popcorn ready
sneakily reaches over and grabs a handful
Bonetti’s rapier is the closest I can think of.
What is this, I don’t even…
How is a Rapier the same as a Katana? Ceremonial Sabre is definitely closer.
Instead of buying more accounts, how about you…
Get some guildmates or friends? I made my Mawdrey in 7 days because I bypassed timegate through friends. I also had plenty of CQC lying around.
Teleports re-render your character but don’t check for visual effects.
When any source of stealth ends, your character gets re-rendered and the game doesn’t check for visual effects.
A good way to see if your effects work, you might want to invest in some cheap Ghosty foods. (Strawberry Ghosts are chump change, last I checked.) When you activate the ghosty food, it will give you a ghostly effect. If you enter and exit stealth, you will no longer have the ghosty effect. If you blink, you may lose the ghosty effect.
Stealths that don’t stack (multiple different stealth icons) affect the same way. When one of them ends, it visually cancels the rest. You are still stealthed, whether or not you see yourself as being stealthed. As long as you have the icon, that is.
You also can’t use it to steal non-Might Might.
Or…
You can get dungeons rewards once a day.
If you fail to get the dungeon rewards, you will be able to get the previous days dungeon rewards in addition to the daily one.
There is a limit of 7 dungeon rewards.
If you play everyday, you will only get 1 dungeon reward a day.
If you play once a week, you will get up to 7 dungeon rewards (from 7 runs).
If you play once a month, you will get up to 7 dungeon rewards (from 7 runs).
Of course, this is more overhead and information being stored, so… I doubt it’ll happen soon.
I want to see our signets give us the passive effects when on cooldown. I know this is a GM on Elementalists, but our signet effects aren’t really gamebreaking.
Of course, SotE would have to either be toned down to heal less per tick while on cooldown or just less heal per tick overall. I dislike how if you get CCed, SotE will not heal you during it’s interval. I understand it’s on cooldown, but it’s still “active” per se.
If you stand in an open field and use Dagger Storm, you’ll see a projectile fly from your arms every so often. Each of these daggers is the actual projectile being shot from DS.
Each of these projectiles also bounce.
Unless you want to manually rotate your screen to the timing of each dagger, you’re not going to hit your target with all of the blades (bar giant targets or big blobs of mobs). The reason why you have to manually rotate your screen is because the automatic rotation speed using character turning is not fast enough to compensate.
Additionally, the reflect from Dagger Storm is quite silly. It seems, to me, to create an area where it will reflect projectiles, namely your arms. This means that projectiles that arc can hit you because you’re not being protected from above. Also, your hit box itself seems to be unsafe. This means if you’re standing in a spot where projectiles will spawn, you can also get hit even though the projectile is being shot horizontally.
Tl;dr: Projectiles get reflected the more horizontal they are upon impact. Being too close to targets can and will cause you to get hit instead of reflecting projectiles even though the shots are horizontal. Projectiles that arc at you (vertical hits) may bypass your reflect and hit you.
Unless you’re using this to clear trash or hit a boss that has a lot of spawns, I would suggest using this only for the stability and cancelling it immediately. Either that or run Thieves Guild/Racial.
To get to my home instance for free from anywhere, I go to WvW > Portal to Lions Arch > Waypoint to Lions Arch Portals (Free) > Take Portal To any Home City > Waypoint to Closest Waypoint to Home Instance > Go Into Home Instance…
Takes me less than 30 seconds…
There is no way 5 loading screens, takes just 30 seconds, including the little bit of running to portals.
no way at all.
If you’re running high-end SSD you can cut down on map load time. You’ll also want a good wireless card (or ethernet cable) and router. All of these can and will reduce map load times, in addition to have a strong computer.
Of course, less map loads will always be less load time than more map loads (as long as we’re comparing setups of equal quality).
Your character might look more like a “Will-O-Wisp” instead of a person
Blaming ANET because of the way trading post works. It is a game, not real life. They should come up with some fair mechanics
What’s wrong with the way it works? Items sell to the person willing to pay the most? The problem, is that the only guaranteed way of getting a precursor is to buy it from another player, not the Trading Post in and of itself.
There are a lot of problems with having the Trading Post set prices of items as opposed to players. Having prices be static instead of dynamic causes that specific market to become stagnant or hardcapped (as to how high or low it can go). Additionally, it stops the market from being a free market.
Now, if you’d like to support sides to your argument as to why you want to see the TP have set prices on items as opposed to players setting prices, I’d be inclined to listen. However, don’t just throw around ideas that suit you because they… well, suit you. The game does not revolve around you or me. It revolves around itself.
Mmmm… it’s been a while. Maybe I was just picky at my spot placement. Glad to see I can still improve.
PvP (Tournament, Solo), WvW (Edge of the Mists, Solo Roaming, Guild Battles, Zerging), PvE (Dungeon, Open World, World Bosses)?
Celestial used to work barely simply because of the bonus Critical Damage compared to Berserkers. Currently, it’s not extremely viable in WvW, and should probably not be used as a main set. It’s better to mix and match Knight’s Soldier’s Valkyrie’s Assassin’s and Berserker’s to attain your own configuration of Power Precision Ferocity Toughness Vitality.
If you’re going condition damage, just run Rabid.
If you’re going hybrid, either run Rabid or Rampager’s.
One dodge’s distance will not place you close enough to guarantee a max range Duelist that won’t be killed after a Leap.
My point with the iLeap was that you could do iLeap, let the clone die as you run away to spawn the Duelist, then swap back in to maintain combat.
If you don’t mind the Duelist dying, then by all means, the change won’t have affected you.
There are other methods of getting Duelists out, but that was the easy way I found. I’ll have to play around more to get the timing on Duelists right, but it’s been a while since I’ve actually gotten to Abomination without dcing, so I haven’t had much practice (solo) after the patch. I also tend to duo, which means I don’t have to hold the aggro while I drop Duelists.
You know why they’re moaning? Because the update is so awesome, they’re moaning in ecstasy.
They should add “Race exclusive back items” (just like the race cultural armor), Humans and Nords with Cloaks, charrs with something else. A simple solution.
Norns wearing pelts of animals. Leather-based cloaks.
Humans wearing Cloth-based cloaks.
Sylvari wearing plant growths, can be cape-like or wing-like or not. See Nightmare Court outfits and more.
Charr get Plated-based cloaks. tailored to their backs and not be cloak-like. Form-fitted to the backs and not flowing with physics.
Asura get… I have no idea.
They simply add their experiences to the dream.
Good Sylvari add Ventari’s teachings and their experiences of the world to improve the knowledge of the tree.
Bad Sylvari add terrible experiences to the tree to detriment the tree and corrupt it into it’s own being instead of being a Centaur-inspired tree.
Think of the tree as a giant library that spawns blank books that then write themselves. It tries to be a library of good books, but some bad books slide in.
I tried killing her. But she was running the op 6/6/6/6/6 Mesmer build and when I killed her, the clone-death trait killed me.
Just as useful/useless as they were before.
Open World, they can burst, but burst isn’t really a thing. Not good at tagging, but can hit World Bosses hard (triple Warlock). Actually, let me rephrase that. Versus World Bosses, Mesmers are the strongest profession.
In WvW, still tagging is an issue. In organized Guild groups, you’re a Veil/Portalbot. In casual groups, you’re a Portalbot (although you’re EXTREMELY kittening helpful).
In s/tPvP, you’re either kittenous PU cheese or distraction-central the game.
I’ve been dealing with Mesmer’s sucking for so long, but I’m nearing the end of the road. I’ve found Thief fun again, and with basically everything Mesmer has, but easier/lower cooldowns.
Mesmers are great and fun and my favorite profession, but… they’re dying slowly and have been for a very long time. Arenanet is not curing their disease and the playerbase thinks they are the disease, but they’re simply plagued. Plagued by lack of direction, lack of understanding, and lack of cohesion.
To put it simply:
Our class Mechanic is to break our Illusions to gain an effect.
40% of our DPS is Phantasms.
Our class Mechanic is to destroy 40% of our DPS.
They may, and probably will, come back in the future. Just not the near future.
Path 1 is the easiest, in general (bar Tar, hehe that rhymes).
Path 2 is the easiest for Mesmers.
P1 is easy because it’s fast.
P2 is easy because it’s made for Mesmers.
For Belka, you’ll probably want to cheese and stop her from teleporting. This will let you practice staggered Wardens. If not, you’ll want to reset if you get too low, although on a Mesmer if you get too low without any condi-removal, you’re dead even if you ooc.
For Abomination, you can do any of the standard spots (close, far, just not middle). If you’re new, clear out the Drake near the wall before you go in (if he’s not the Champion, cross fingers for RNG). Your goal is to survive. If you can get 3 max-range Duelists out, as well, that’s perfect. It’s harder to pull this off after the iLeap changes/nerfs, but it’s possible. To survive the Abomination, simply learn his animations and then always stay behind him. Roll on his jump and use a rifle when it’s time.
For Lupicus, there are plenty of guides.
Alphard, untraited Warden stagger or pull her to the stack corner. If you’re doing the stack-corner, make sure to roll back (or stand back) when she gets close. Don’t stand directly on her or your reflects won’t work properly. Use all of your reflects and get the timings down.
Brie, be careful on this one. It’s very, very hard to do phase 1 and phase 2 on a Mesmer. I would highly recommend inviting friends to help you finish this path, although it’s entirely possible to do it solo.
Wearing full Ascended in the most optimal personal DPS setup, you probably won’t have the dps to do it. The best strategy to do this solo would be to finish the first half, then rotate onto the waves of mobs spawning. Try to take as long as possible on the first half of Brie because she will despawn all of the Risen waves. Don’t take too long or you’ll die.
All of the runs can be done on Mesmer solo with both exploits and legitimate running. Retraiting is unnecessary but good for beginning runners.
Things used for running:
Mantra of Recovery (if using Mender’s Purity)
Ether Feast (if not using MP)
Decoy + Blink
Condition removal Mantra or Veil (Mantra for first run, Veil for second run, stab Mantra for fourth run).
Mass Invisibility.
First run is to Belka.
Second run is to Abomination.
Third run is to Alphard.
Fourth run is to Brie.
Alpkittenly requires Torch and Blink. Underwater is recommended to use Stability and Condition Removal Mantra.
Questions, concerns, comments?
I haven’t successfully completed a full solo run, although I have fully soloed each of the bosses, except Brie, on my Mesmer.
I have also done all of the runs on my Thief, Necromancer, and Warrior without help. Necromancer can solo the Risen Waves at Brie the easiest, in my opinion.
The main reason why I stopped trying to solo is because my internet hiccups. After the feature patch I lose the instance, so… it’s not fun.
let me get this straight
ANet nerfed your extra weapon and you blaming warriors for that and want their
main weapon nerved (which is already nerfed) , right ?This.
Also, stop compairing two classes in a vacuum.
Or, give me 2 more weapon sets I can swap to.
Wait what, you have 20 weapon skills no matter what weapons you pick, plus up to another five for each utility slot (bar healing skill).
The absolute minimum amount of skills you’ll have (bar skill chains) is 25.
The maximum is 41.
This is, again, not including skill chains.
Arenanet is all about adding more currencies, but they’re not supposed to be making more currencies, which is why we don’t have them added to the wallet.
Some of these currencies include, but are not limited to:
Geodes, Tournament Claim Tickets, Festival Tokens, Baubles, Bauble Bubbles, and Gauntlet Tickets.
They had, right before the introduction of the wallet, stated that there were too many currencies compared to what they had imagined. The wallet did cut it down, but then they seemed to forget and add a few more currencies without remembering about the wallet.
I think what we really want is bork bork bork.
Bundles no longer grant you locked skill slots, allowing players to equip skills while holding a bundle.
This allows players to bypass the skill unlocks and equip skills way before they should be allowed to.
In the picture below, I have a level 16 Thief, who I made yesterday. I also have 3 utility skills and an elite on my bar.
I reject your hypothesis and substitute my own!
GW1 Asura Concept Art: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Asura
Does anybody ever seem to find that HK just simply doesn’t proc at times?
If you wait until the very last second of stealth before you backstab, you don’t get the bonus because you actually make the hit as you’re visible.
I see, I never even thought of that.
Cheers for clearing that up.
Yeah I sometimes use this to my advantage and CnD to maintain stealth without ever breaking stealth. (Technically I do, but shhh.)
Other than HK, I really don’t see the reason for capping your Precision. Maybe it’s because I mostly PvE instead of WvW, but… I dunno.
I’d like to see some more opinions, if I haven’t already read all of the sides to the reasoning.
Again, explain the 100% crit chance vs >100% crit chance discrepancy and let’s talk.
Have you actually gotten to 100% crit chance (on the dot)? Have you had a non-crit while at that percentile?
Have you gotten above 100% crit chance? Have you had a non crit while at that percentile?
I’ve traited Hidden Killer and so far my backstab is always a crit hit.
Which proves my point because if you trait HK, you’ll always have more than 100% critical chance. (HK gives you +100% CC, it doesn’t set you to 100%.)
Could be he had stealth from another source and used his own stealth and then one of the stealths ended and he was “revealed” (not really).
He then got hit by some stray projectiles and/or AoE’s and blamed it on his stealth skills.
But Revealed makes more sense in this case.
They were never on sale.
sigh Ok, I never said they have are were on sale, and I know for the most part always be in the gem store at 800 gems each…what I was saying is I want anet to put them on sale this week so I can save some gems…like any thrifty consumer..most times when I buy stuff I buy during sales..how hard was that to understand? -_-
And I want to never have to worry about money again. High five for unrealistic wants!
(Yes, there is the 3rd skill for no-weapon in offhand, but that was added as a last minute to allow players to have 3 skills in the Tutorial Instance which won’t happen anymore.)
Thieves always had 3 skills with offhand empty. =)
Edit: Or maybe I just really didn’t get what you meant.
You do and you don’t.
The third weapon skill with offhand empty wasn’t intended to be there. The reason it was added was so that Thieves would have a third skill while in the Tutorial Instance (Explosive Intellect, Fury of the Dead, Defending Shaemoor, The Great Hunt, Fighting the Nightmare).
Of course, the reason for them to have that third, empty attack (empty offhand, that is) is now gone because you won’t have access to your third skill in the Tutorial unless you kill roughly 7,000 of whatever enemy is in that zone. And no, I’m not exaggerating, it is roughly 7,000 unless you use Tomes of Knowledge or Experience Scrolls.
When you get to level 7, you can equip an offhand which will let you actually utilize that third weapon skill to get the intended effect.
In case you don’t know what I’m talking about:
Twisting Fangs is a weaker Death Blossom. They have the same cast time and roughly the same delays. They cost the same initiative. Twisting Fangs hits only once and for roughly half the damage of Death Blossom (2 less Bleeding stacks). Twisting Fangs is not a Whirl Finisher. Twisting Fangs does not evade attacks.
Repeater is a weaker Unload. It costs the same amount of initiative. It has a longer cast time. It hits for roughly half the damage of Unload with 3 less shots. It is, however, a Projectile Finisher, but with the lessened number of shots, the theoretical amount of Finishes that occur is 62.5% of the amount Unload will get.
Stab is a weaker Larcenous Strike. The only advantage to Stab is that you can spam it, but it doesn’t cleave and still has pretty bad damage. Stab and Larcenous Strike have roughly the same damage. Larcenous Strike is unblockable. Stab does not have a chain, but costs as much as the initial skill on the Larcenous Strike chain. Stab also has less of a damage co-efficient than Larcenous Strike (the others aren’t included because they haven’t been recorded).
Tl;dr: Twisting Fangs is a weaker Death Blossom, Stab is a weaker Larcenous Strike, Repeater is a weaker Unload.
I’d be okay with them being weaker, if they weren’t copy-pastes and then toned down.
You do realize you don’t need to buy any of them. The only purpose to would be to have one for WvW and one for Fractals. Even then, the difference is pretty negligible, especially since you can get your 5 stat points and still get 5 AR.
Squad chat and join squad?
You actually only need 2 Ascended armor/weapons (or 1 Ascended 2h handed weapon) to do Fractal 50s, although I highly doubt you’d have +15 Agony Infusions and Infused accessories.
To do 49, however, you can get by without the armor/weapons and +15 Agony Infusions (but you’ll need high numbers).
Annnnd if you’re not running HK?
