Marketing needs a thesaurus. Plus they need to realize that as of late the player base has become somewhat sensitive to over promised, under delivered “features”.

Don’t poke the bears.

This, out of 7 descriptions we have:

“We’ll be using the September 2014 Feature Pack to bring some exciting changes to the megaserver system!”

We’re excited to announce some updates to commander tags!”

“The September 2014 Feature Pack is on its way, and we’re extremely excited about the balance changes it will bring!”

“The September 2014 Feature Pack is bringing exciting additions to PvP!”

Most of these are things that players have known about for quite some time. It’s not exciting new things, it’s well-past the expiration date QoL changes that should have made it to the April Feature Pack.

You know all programming changes take time. They obviously couldn’t improve hte mega server, until they launched the mega server. Some things need to be fine tuned live.

Comments like should have been launched in the April feature pack are unrealistic at the very least.

I was being very broad in my post, which is why I used the word most.

Examples:
Account bound Commander tags/colors.
iWarden fix (this is IN the April patch notes but didn’t actually fix anything)
Illusionary Elasticity fix (see iWarden)
PvP-only Rewards

Additionally, for the rest of them, we knew about them beforehand. We knew Commander Tags were going to be getting new colors, we didn’t know they would become account bound.

We knew Megaservers would encapsulate all of the guilds into global guilds (didn’t know the name global guilds, but we sure as heck knew about the eventual merging of the upgrades).

We knew about these things, so they’re not that exciting to be talked about all over again.

Of course, exciting is an opinion, so I just feel like they shouldn’t be so careless with that word.

Dragons were a lazy ploy in the writing anyway. I want the writers that worked on GW1.

As I’ve understood, with my little knowledge of the lore, Cantha is suppressed by the Ministry of Purity, while Elona has Palawa Joko that can both be used as a plot-line.

And on a more literal cultural level, Cantha is suppressed because it depicts a singular Asian entity… think Greater East Asia… (unintentionally, but still there).

If that doesn’t ring any bells, you might want to do a quick google search.

No because people will misuse this and play stupidly OP specs instead of playing something creative yet sucky like the condition shatter builds which still won’t work. But they will be a bit better.

Right, but then Anet will see their mistake and overcompensate to fix it and then re-address the issue that Scepter sucks while re-evaluating it more seriously.

If they revert it, it will just go on a list of things Mesmers need fixed and not be taken seriously… just like the change that’s happening.

From my experience, it’s not good to melee both the bosses in dredge. Between people applying cripple and chill on the bosses for no reason to AI causing them to stop and attack (yay Mesmers!), it’s really a lot more effort than it’s worth. Additionally, you’re spending a lot more effort to do no more damage than you would get for being on a Greatsword (unless, of course, he stops to kill your Greatsword Phantasm) and you’ll most likely want to be clearing his Defiance which is a pain to do in PuGs.

Of course if you’re in a dedicated group, do whatever you want. I don’t care. I’m just saying, most of the time, it’s more effective/efficient to just sit back and be a total n00bcake.

2 years is a long time for an MMO not to release anything.

I think you are mistaken. We have released content and features in the last two years on a fairly regular basis. Just because the content and/or features were things that you personally did not particularly care for doesn’t mean we didn’t release anything.

Please don’t trivialize the efforts of our design and development staff down to “nothing” because you didn’t like it. It’s fine to comment that you didn’t care for what was released, but don’t pretend like we’ve done nothing here for the past two years.

Looks at WvW

Looks at sPvP

Looks at precursor crafting

Looks at official GvG game-mode

Looks at guild capes and guild halls

Looks at new zones and dungeons

Looks at new weapon, utility, and elite skills

Looks at slow and almost non-existent balance updates

Ok Mark.

You just confirmed what he typed.

He was being sarcastic although…

Looks at WvW
WvW Ranks + Abilities + Tournaments + Split Obsidian Sanctum into own map + EotM

Looks at sPvP
sPvP Reward Tracks + Free Tournaments + e-Sports Tournaments + Use PvE skins + Coin Rewards

Looks at precursor crafting
Got me here, although would you really want a precursor crafting that would most likely be the equivalent of making a Legendary without the Precursor… on top of making a Legendary?

Looks at official GvG game-mode
WvW map that got sectioned off for GvG fights, though it’s never used.

Looks at guild capes and guild halls
Capes would only really look good on Humans, Norn, and Sylvari. Additionally, you can already get capes by wearing a Grenth Hood or a few other pieces of clothing to give you a cape-ish feel. Not the same as having a really shiny piece of cloth on your back, flapping with it’s own physics, but I think that’s good enough.

Looks at new zones and dungeons
Dry Tops, Southsun, Labrynthine, Fractals, More Fractals, Aetherblade… yeah, nothing new…

Looks at new weapon, utility, and elite skills
New utilities and healing skills, sure, not much variety, but still something. Also traits. Traits got worked around a bunch (although this can go in the next segment).

Looks at slow and almost non-existent balance updates
They used to be fast. But they’re still… n-… we-.. I’ll give you this one. However that’s only recently, over the 2 years, they’ve done a lot of changing the game, both with the engine, UX, and trait/skill balance.

Ok, Flytrap.

Both?

On one hand, Scepter needs love. On the other hand, this isn’t the right way. Not only is it basically Maim the Disillusioned with no investment on your auto attacks, but it doesn’t address the Scepters problems…

Yes, it pampers the dumb Mesmers, but I don’t think it’s going to break Mesmers and make us overpowered.

I think I’ll go with keep the change so that Anet can see how stupid Scepter is and re-work it. I’d rather they learn that Scepter is stupid the hard way than revert this and we have to wait another 6 months for a terrible change that’s just as bad.

Down the road means what, 5 years from now? 10 years from now?

I won’t be playing then.

The whole point is that we’ve already given Anet 2 years to release anything resembling expansion level content, and they haven’t.

2 years is a long time for an MMO not to release anything.

Especially today, when there are always new MMO’s just around the corner.

We’re already “down the road” right now – so where’s the new content?

They’ve released plenty of skins, plenty of festivals, 1 full Living Story and a second one which has improved based on feedback of the first one.

Note that the Living Story Part 1 is almost an entire expansions worth of content, minus the addition of a race, profession, and dungeons (although we did get more fractals and the Aetherblade path).

You 100% do not need greatsword in dredge fractal final boss (just watch for the tells and dodge/block/reposition). Mossman I don’t like triple duelists because wardens and curtain can reflect the dancing dagger so I prefer melee sets there. Cliffside, no way. Mesmer is next to warrior in level of forgiveness for meleeing archdiviner. Hell, you can solo melee archdiviner even in ranging pugs thanks to low cooldown evades, blocks and vigour – in my experience I normally get dumped on by the adds rather than the boss.

Everything else I’ve always melee’d, but in melee groups so I’d have no idea what the berserker or ashym are like solo melee. Meleeing imbued shaman isn’t too bad either, even if everyone else is ranging because of the survivability of mesmer.

I haven’t even got sigils on my greatsword that’s how little I use it.

Wardens get wrecked version Mossman, but if they do get their reflects off, it’s great. I drop 3 Duelists because with 6/4/0/0/4, they’re basically 25 permanent stacks of bleed and easy dps without having to re-cast. Versus Bloomhunger, however, I always get 3 Wardens out.

As for the Dredge boss, if you melee him, he will most likely stop to attack you, causing him to not run to the next oil pit, causing the entire party to get slowed down. Sure, I’ll swap and melee him on the final spike, but for the most part I’m only on my Sword to drop a Phantasm then swap off (or maybe BF for a dodge). The DPS gain you get for going melee on a Sword is non-existent because you’re not in the party “buff range” which is one of the main reasons for running Sword. Additionally, since you have to keep managing your position and the bosses position + animations, you end up putting in a lot of work for no dps gain (unless you count the party dps from a few stacks of Vuln, in which case go run War or Engi), as opposed to just lolcamping GS.

It definitely is possible to melee nearly everything, but it’s not always practical. Mossman it can be practical to melee if you know the fight well, but Dredge isn’t practical at all.

I don’t agree with most of Helseth’s arguments. Yes, this will make PU even easier and stronger, but I think IE will give it more than the Scepter Autos.

For everything else, you don’t really use Scepter, and if you do, it’s a nice addition, but not something supremely necessary.

If anything, it will be strong as a condition buffer for condition builds (Bleed and Burn hiding behind low duration Torment that’s constantly applied) assuming they remove Torment first.

*Probably not very good ones, or ones John Smith cannot discuss…

To force players to get 500 in a craft, get Laurels, and also partake in activities to get the Vision Crystals.

Other than that, everything is purchaseable.

If you could buy Ascended directly… well, I’m not an economist, so I can’t really analyze how the market would differ, but I think you can see where I went (getting to 500 means you require more materials, means more product fluidity and more people purchasing low tier mats, if only to level past the early stages).

Also, if you have friends on a specific server and can’t join them, you can get a free world transfer (infinite times) by deleting all your characters. You’ll still have things in your bank and will be able to access it from any world, so store anything that’s account bound in your bank before deleting.

Otherwise, just join any World (unless you care about WvW in which case research the rankings).

Since new accounts come with a Heroic Edition bonus, I will explain how that works, briefly.

You’ll get a box (I think) which will contain an armorset of your choice. Note that this armorset is purely aesthetic and the choices are locked by armor type (if you pick the Heavy version, you must wear Heavy armor to apply it). I highly suggest picking the one you think looks the best, as opposed to the one which you can use, as you can always make more characters.

If you like them all, you can purchase each of these skins for an additional $10 or ~136g (at current market value, which I don’t expect you to get anytime soon).

Keep in mind that these will unlock in your Wardrobe which means that, as long as you have Transmutation Charges, you can apply them to gear. These Charges can be obtained through PvP, Map Completion, opening Black Lion Chests (think Gacha Boxes), or the Gem Store (roughly 40c (CENTS, not copper) per Charge).

If you want skins that any character can use without using Transmutation Charges, Outfits are great because they can be applied to any character as many times as you want without any additional fee. They can’t mix and match, like armor, though.

Oh right, a few more things (guess this isn’t as short as I expected):
If you ever want to see what skills you can have/use, go to PvP. Note, this will not place you in PvP, but will put you in the Lobby Map where you have access to every skill and trait, bar a few (5 traits and 2 skills + Racial skills). You can then play around with everything.
You will need the weapons for your profession to be able to see what they can do, but there is a merchant that can sell them to you for relatively cheap.

Pick your Race and Profession (class) based on what interests you, not what’s good, overpowered, or needed. You might have a bit of trouble because Arenanet tends to do a good job making everything interesting. Note: Leveling up became a lot harder after April 15th because you no longer start gaining access to traits at level 10 (think Talent trees).

For your Character Creation choices (after you have finished customizing your character) the choices do not affect a lot. Other than your initial gear (or pet, for Rangers), the choices only affect the first part of the Personal Storyline. This means that after level 30 (maybe earlier, I forgot), your story will no longer revolve around those choices.

If you want to, feel free to add me ingame. I most likely won’t be on for another 6 hours or so, but I can respond faster and answer any questions you have.

I think there’s more I wanted to say but I’m about to go eat lunch.

If you’re trying to add me, you can do one of the following:

Most of the items you listed off that aren’t in this update are because they are content. This is not a content update, this is a feature pack. Content updates usually, but not exclusively, take the forum of living world updates or festivals.

Is there any particular reason as to why the Feature Patches take 6 months to kick off? I feel like, since the changes are offered for feedback from the community, you could make them a 2 month cycle.

The reason why I bring this up is that nothing new is being implemented in regards to flavorful skills. My opinion is slightly biased, but I play a Mesmer and with the changes I’ll be seeing, there were many, many suggestions offered for Mimic, Scepter, and GS3 (Mind Stab) to be fixed.

Instead of taking the route more inline with a 6 month wait (actually 2 years)

  • Mind Stab: Numbers get shoved up. I don’t think there are any technical limitations that stopped this from happening earlier. If there are, I think the GW2 source code might need to be looked at. Does not address the issue of rooting, either.
  • Scepter: Condition gets re-added (removed from BWE’s, not the same condition). This one doesn’t address the issue at all (slow cast paired with slow aftercast) and really shows laziness. 6 months to re-add something that was in place over 2 years ago.
  • Mimic: Re-worked the functionality to copy another skill in a “new” way. Karl himself doesn’t really know how this change affects Mesmers. There’s no reason to “synergize” this skill with Null Field and Arcane Thievery. You’d use it in place of those two, but it won’t see competitive play because of it’s long cooldown and gimmicky effect. Basically, this skill went from one gimmick to another.

Additionally, if the changes were done every 2 months, the iLeap fix wouldn’t have been so drastic and harmful to Mesmer gameplay. We could have, as a community (Devs and Players) worked to the solution instead of jumping to a huge overcompensation, as we Mesmers tend to see.

Tl;dr: Any reason why it takes 6 months to implement major gameplay changes that end up being minor?

Hah, I haven’t actually looked at any guilds in a long time. I have a guild for me and IRL friends which is basically just… me… and I can check up on my friends to see if they logged in recently or not.

I’d say your world matters, but it’s about to not matter at all on the 9th unless you want to WvW (World vs World) with them, obviously. The reason why it would have mattered would have been for Guild Bank purposes, mainly.

I invited an online friend recently and they joined a guild called Aspiring Brotherhood [PACT]. I think it’s decent, but it’s too big for my tastes (once a guild reaches a certain playerbase, it feels less like a family and more like a community).

I prefer the more… “family”-sized guilds, where everyone knows each other and will connect both virtually and emotionally. Then again, I am basically a solo-player at this point, so that’s just my opinion (which doesn’t even have any in-game proof).

Hey, I don’t use it to shove into walls, but the possibility is still there. Also, GS5 is better than Focus4 IF you can position it because it’s not centered on the ground. Sometimes, because of hills, Focus4 will only drag an enemy a step or two whereas the GS will actually shove them.

Not enough of a reason to justify me running Greatsword all the time, but it’s something to note.

And I basically dread running dungeons/fractals with other Mesmers. 99% of the time they run perma-traited Wardens (or untraited if it’s actually useful for them to be traited) without PH, don’t stagger Wardens, and don’t pay attention to animations.

Of course, I’m being hypocritical because I suck at feedback timings for tons of bosses that have things to reflect, such as Old Tom, Champion Ettin, Ascalon Captain, etc. But I’m really good at Lupicus and Alphard, go figures.

Also, I suck at using Time Warp. Can I just get an Elite Mantra, pliss?

Oh right, that other 1% are people like DnT Mesmers where they know their stuff and are either better than me or actually carrying their own weight.

Tell people you’re new if and when you play with them. You’ll either get kicked or be welcomed, but it’s better to get that out of the way before you start a dungeon (or anything).

Also, you typically only want to run dungeons at max level, even though you can join at lower levels.

And find yourself a nice, casual (or new player friendly) guild. I recommend a guild with less than 100 members and around 10-20 players on during peak hours.

Lastly:
Ask questions whenever you want. There is no such thing as a stupid question… but if there is, it will promptly get a stupid answer.

Grawl Lava Fractal (Both boss fights), rotate between Sword + Pistol (if vs Grawl) or Sword + Focus (if vs Elemental).

I love running full melee on that fight, lots of fun haha.

Me too, I run a silly build of 0/4/0/6/4 with Signet of the Ether (or Mantra of Restoration), Feedback, Null Field, Blink. Grab improved glamour duration + reduced cooldown (or just reduced cooldown + Mender’s Purity with MoR) and traited Warden.

2 Wardens with Phantasmal Haste + TC + Feedback and the only thing that you have to worry about are his swoopity attacks.

Although I tend to get kicked out of groups for falling off the cliff, running to the boss, and starting to solo him while everyone is running the gauntlet. I hold GS as my secondary for when the OozeGrublings spawn because I can shove them away and then manage them with reflects easier.

As it stands the only slot for it in PvP would be the Portal/Thievery/NullField slot.

Mesmers are most likely still going to be running Decoy + Blink, and Thievery is still better than Mimic because it can remove conditions. Portal is very flexible, and Null Field is rip + remove.

Mimic is… 1v1. Unless, of course, we can activate it at will (see: current Echo implementation), then suddenly we can transition from 1v1 to teamfights with access to boons based on what you copied.

Heck, even doing sPvP you can buy a Precursor, it will just take a lot of effort to get enough money (probably around 4-8 hours of sPvP to make the “required” daily quota).

I agree with Kirito. You don’t want to camp Greatsword. It should never be your go-to camp weapon. The only time I will camp on my Greatsword is if it’s a ranged fight where I have 3 Phantasms up (typically 2 Duelists 1 Berserker). Otherwise, I run S/S + F and run melee.

All the fractal fights where you want to use Greatsword:
Molten BOSS Fractal if your group doesn’t want to melee the Berserker. Ask before you enter boss pit.
Grawl Lava Fractal (Both boss fights), rotate between Sword + Pistol (if vs Grawl) or Sword + Focus (if vs Elemental).
Dredge Fractal (final boss fight), rotate between Sword + Pistol and Greatsword. Use Feedback if vs Dredge or slot a Mantra for more personal DPS if vs Elemental.
Mossman, what I do is jump onto the house (or tree) and spawn 3 Duelists, then camp Greatsword or rotate onto Sword and Blurred Frenzy.
Ascalon Boss, Greatsword to fight his Greatsword for all the Greatswordy Greatswordness.
Cliffside Boss fights.

But, for the most part, I don’t use a Greatsword. Those examples I just listed although plentiful, don’t make up the majority of the run.

Also, I feel like there’s going to be a delay where Illusions don’t get the 1s of Invuln, similar to Signet of Illusions and other problems we used to have.

iLeap should be like before the ‘bug fix’

scepter auto torment applying is terribad and promotes an alrdy mostly mindless build

only those changes bother me, for wvw zerging ppl might use triumphant distortion now

altho, overall they were good changes , but it felt like the balance team was lazy, just dmg and radius boost for gs3, there were way more ideas like making it blast finisher etc

so i would say its overall neutral

Honestly, I think that the iLeap change was overall good for the game in the long run. Right now, we’re still seeing red about the loss of the stunbreak, but it’s not too too bad (think Phase Retreat stunbreak). The change is just to fix the nerf which ended up going overboard because of some severe consequences that were overlooked on the “simple bugfix”.

The Grandmaster changes are bad. It shows how little ANet knows about how and why Mesmers are bad/GM are unusable. TD has no uses as a GM and, even with the buff, does not justify 6 points into Dueling, although most builds end up going 4 points in, the extra 2 points are not worth the bonus effect, even with the buff.

MtD is just a joke. We don’t need duration on it, we need intensity through damage or stacks. As it stands, there’s no point in it being a Grandmaster, just like TD.

BD and DS have no purpose. DS sucks because Healing Power has no scaling and it lasts for no time, which means that, at best, you’re going to see an increase in healing of about 900, assuming you can get off 2 Mantra completions with Harmonious Mantras and are getting Rejuvenation applied off Phantasms. Of course, that would require an instant cast stunbreak that won’t interrupt a mantra being charged, and also standing next to a Phantasm so you can get the Rejuv. BD sucks because… well… why would you shatter for a small boon… and why would you go 6 points in Chaos for a shatter build to get a boon when you shatter?

Mimic… well, I’ve already said a lot about why this isn’t that great/could be better.

Scepter punishes good play and is basically MtD on Auto attacks without any investment. What was wrong with the auto attack was the long aftercast paired with a long cast time. That wasn’t addressed and instead it became an even more brainless weapon.

IE and Warden weren’t shown so I doubt they’re actually fixed until I see it. What is it… #5 on Warden being fixed and #3 on IE being fixed? “Fixed”.

Mantras are nice, but MoP is a PvE/WvW change that still leaves one major problem: Requires Harmonious Mantras to improve readiness of the active for AoE tagging. MoD is kittening great, but… I don’t see where it will be super useful. Even in WvW, it’s hard to give up a utility slot.

GS3, what I got from this was: “lots of good ideas that can be implemented, let’s go with the easy ones that don’t require any work”. Does address some of the issues, but not the root or cast time.

I was disappointed at how these changes don’t address anything. They’re mostly just minor bugfixes that should have been included in the updates leading up to the feature patch.

Heck, the iWarden and IE were “supposed” to be fixed during the last Feature Patch.

I only really think the GS, IE, iWarden, and iLeap are good changes because they’re bugfixes/QoL that don’t address anything. The Mantras are good changes that should be part of the feature patch, but they should be alongside meaningful changes and improvements, not these… small tweaks.

The rest don’t address anything and just bring more problems than anything else. I feel like they’re going to be nerfed within 1 week – 2 months, putting us even further behind than when we started.

I find it fascinating how the moment we get any buff, no matter how weak we actually are outside of a constructed non-consequential game format the game doesn’t even know about, everyone explodes in rage.

Geez.

I wish everyone would just get forcibly rerolled to a non-respeccable Rabid-geared Blackwater build Mesmer. For 1 month. Let them see the other side for a bit, they might get an idea of why the spec isn’t overpowered just because it reliably kills them 1-on-1….

My thoughts exactly.
Even mesmer players are afraid of buffs. We got so used to nerfs and bugs that a little light at the end of the tunnel makes everybody panic?

The last time we emerged from our cave, they kicked us until we were down… and then kept kicking.

Next, this is going to be incredibly strong. Incredibly strong things leads to incredibly loud complaining, and incredibly loud complaining leads to heavy-handed unnecessary nerfs (see confusion, glamour builds, blurred frenzy). So ultimately this change gets us a month or two of fun, followed by some enormous unspecified nerf that’ll probably kill a good subset of mesmer condition builds, and pidgeonhole us even more into PU.

Someone’s being very optimistic. Since when have we been Warriors when it comes to nerfs?

I run 6/4/0/0/4 for personal dps.

I run 6/0/0/4/4 for reflects.

The reason why I keep Phantasmal Haste is because when timed, 2 Wardens will almost entirely reach 100% reflect uptime (or projectile destruction if untraited). Add in a feedback and you have enough time to drop a third Warden, giving yourself 100% uptime.

Without Phantasmal Haste, it’s still possible to get 100% uptime, but each Warden is around 33-40% uptime, as opposed to 45-50% uptime.

New Mimic. Will you run it?

Considering all the boon hate in PvE on year 1 where any boon a boss had became a special boon that is unrippable (because of strong effects or long durations), I don’t particularly see why you’d want Mimic.

I mean, sure, it’s useful in Honor of the Waves against Andal where he gives himself 3-6 stacks of Permanent Might (with Mimic you can finally reach 25 self-stacks, before you could only share the stacks with Thievery → SoI spam) buuuuuut, I don’t see the use.

Really, I don’t mind if it’s a 30s cooldown as long as we get Echo to use the boons whenever we want. What this would do is allow us to apply the boons and (if held for long enough) instantly store another persons boons again (and potentially apply them, too). Basically, change Mimic, but keep Echo instead of changing Mimic and removing Echo.

Well, even then it’s still hard to find a use for it, because it would be in the slot of a Condition Remover, which it doesn’t do… at all.

Last Fix Needed: Temporal Curtain Duration

They should just fix it so it behaves like the guardian’s swiftness, in that if you run over it you pick up the swiftness should you not have any but if you have the buff on you already, it extends it for a 1 sec. I hate it when I use it only to have someone place the buff down and my curtain does nothing.

Symbol of Swiftness applies 4s swift per pulse. Ofc, it’s not instant as opposed to TC.

I rhink ir’s “fair” but I really do think that TC should give something while having Swiftness because I can’t count how many times I haven’t gotten my TC swiftness because some idiot decided to give me 5s of swiftness right before I walked into TC (or those pesky Guards dropping SoS right in front of TC to “stack” Swiftness).

Skill Bar: Patch Notes (Updated)

I’m so glad, the patch notes say we’re getting a skill fixed.

Oh wait, just kidding, that was the April 2014 Feature Pack Notes.

Wait, it’s on this one, too?

#iWardenLovesRoses

On a more serious note, I was really disappointed with the patch. Everything was expected and underwhelming.

iLeap getting fixed? Cool, but it looks like we lose one of the leaps.
TD getting a secondary effect? Cool, but it really doesn’t make it worth a GM slot.
Scepter gets Conditions? Cool, but it doesn’t address the slow auto attacks (over 2 seconds for the full chain because of aftercasts).
MtD getting buffed? 2 more seconds on Torment doesn’t make it more relevant… actually, it can, but it still most likely won’t considering the tree it’s in.
Mantras getting AoE? Kind of expected, the MoP still isn’t enticing, imo. “Let’s us tag” isn’t really an excuse because you don’t want to pre-cast 3 seconds everytime you want to tag something. MoD is kittening great, though.
Mimic getting changed? I still want Echo attached to it. Rawwwwwwwwwr.

IE becoming relevant? This one I’ll appreciate, even though it’s taken them 2 years to do.

Overall? Great kittening patch. We got IE. Wooooo! Dey finally listened to us after 2 years of complaints!

On a more serious note: Really, really underwhelming. At least I wasn’t disappointed. (Although I’m disappointed that I wasn’t disappointed… wait what?)

Appears to be another DDOS.

It’s the data center having issues.

My problem is my internet routing being so convoluted it gets… weirdified. I really need to just figure out how it all works, and then cut out all the excess.

If your internet hiccups, it will affect the connection to the GW2 client (unless it’s just a slow connection, in which case you’ll “catch up” and play a weird rubber-bandy-ing game).

If your internet hiccups, it will not affect your streaming videos as they will automatically attempt to fix the connection and continue streaming. Additionally, you have already pre-buffered many parts of a video, which means the only time a hiccup will affect is you right when a youtube video (in a playlist) switches to the next video. The hiccup has to be pretty long (not long enough that a normal video would reach the end of the buffer) to prevent the next video from starting the buffer/stream connection.

And yes, I suffer from hiccuping internet syndrome, as well.

Mesmers used to stay invis forever. Got hotfixed.

#OldTorch4

It was so OP ^^ you could basicaly spawn a phantasm, stealth, repeat. The only thing the enemy saw was the torch animation.

Just like perma-stealth thieves where the only thing you saw was their black powder field…of course there was no rush to hotfix that one.

Those thieves had to reveal themselves to do any damage. The Mesmers didn’t.

Arguably you could via Shortbow CG if you mix in some Initiative Regen skills.

Additionally, both were susceptible to reveal.

Keep in mind, with Thieves, it’s possible to perma-stealth off critters, but requires precise timing so your hit connects the moment your stealth disappears to avoid Reveal.

But to an MMO company, they want you to take time. Even in a game without a subscription, your continued presence in the game leveling is a feature they can sell by showing an active world. Plus the longer you play, the greater the chance you will plunk down hard cash for an item in the gem shop or a load of gold.

In the original GW you could buy the ability to go directly to max level, most likely for PvP. Here both PvP and WvW you are auto promoted to max level so no need for such a feature.

I don’t think that’s accurate.

In PvP, you were automatically level 20 and gained ranks, just like in here.

In EotN, you were automatically level 20 and gained levels if you were under level 20, just like in WvW.

There were ways of leveling fast, such as playing Nightfall and getting ferried to Lion’s Arch (assuming you had Prophecies) and then having someone help you with the quest to unlock Olias (or you can solo it, it’s not TOO bad). Then plop back into Nightfall and you have a level 20 Necromancer (see: MM Necro). Kill one thing or find a body → Everything dies.

Hearts and Dynamic Events

I always find my newly-created characters level up tooo fast for my taste. I do key runs, never use anything but the gear I find, and never add anything with a bonus attached. Lol, I sell them, instead.

Maybe it’s just because we vets know where the DE are bound to occur. /shrug

Well, also because DE don’t occur fast enough anymore, even with Megaservers. You have to actively camp an area before progressing if you want to stay on par with the levels.

I know exactly where to go to finish hearts, vistas, PoI, skill points, so I don’t end up aimlessly moving around trying to find out how to get to that Point of Interest at the top right of Metrica Province, netting me 4 Dynamic Events, which translates into an extra level before giving up and finding it later when I’m “on-par”.

You guys should really stop.

First of all, levelling won’t get him to eighty anyway because they’ve reduced it to make do with 500 crafting. Second, can’t you guys read? He’s said he doesn’t want to craft. It’s not the money, it’s the crafting. And a lot of people in this game have complained about crafting in relation to ascended and other things.

Just respect his feelings or opinion? You can say you disagree, but don’t keep pushing at the guy. If he wanted to craft, he didn’t need to make this thread.

He wants to buy level 80 with gold/gems. There’s a way. He doesn’t want to do that way.
