Key farming relies on NPC’s and scaling disparities at level 1 via Runes/Sigils which aren’t “supposed” to be used until level 14 (with the first green drop item).
Yes, there is a level 8 full green set, which is the lowest level helm and shoulder that give stats. They have no inherent runes, though, and are precision based, not power based. They’re also only for light armor.
With full Power runes/sigils/gear, at level 1 you can have >+75 Power before Food/Potion (this isn’t counting armor, but counting everything else, because I don’t know the power on armor off the top of my head).
I don’t think you’re supposed to pass 100 Power at level 1 when your other stats are sitting at 20.
Additionally, this is shown even more when you get upscaled from level 2 in WvW (or level 1 if you have a really old character exploited out of the tutorial). You can easily hit 2500 in 2 stats and almost reach 2000 in all the other stats if you put on the right combination of gear. If you get WvW bonuses from a guild-claimed location, you can hit 2500 in every stat.
Might, Empower Allies, Spotter, Strength in Numbers, Banners, Food, Potions, Signets, and Bloodlust get factored in after the 2500.
And they’re not able to do anything until the patch hits.
Yeah, basically that. I was content with an account bound blue one (have always “wanted” a tag, for no reason other than being a stupid dorito for silly/trolly purposes [trolly as in having fun, not trolling other players]), but I didn’t/amn’t (YES AMN’T) going to use it until the patch hits because I’m weird.
So you don’t want to spend money to level up, but you want to spend money to level up.

Commander in Tutorial stages for more Dorito goodness.
If you’re booster stacking, you shouldn’t be doing map completion.
Booster stacking strategy: Kill every mob in sight. This will not only tag/complete events and Hearts, but also give you “exploration bonus” experience for killing mobs people usually leave around (think: Wurms and Moa’s). This bonus experience can be up to 300% of a mobs normal experience, iirc. I don’t know if it stacks with boosters. (With boosters, you can achieve upwards of 5x normal exp from mobs.)
If you’re doing map completion, you should be doing every event you see.
Map completion is supposed to ease you into where you go next, not be a base requirement for leveling up. If you want it to be easier, 100% (or actually 99%) every zone of the appropriate level before moving on. You should hit level 80 at around the level 60 zones. Remember to start with Major Cities so you’re level 6 when you kill mobs.
Note: The reason for 99%’ing maps is that you get experience based on the zones level for everything in a zone (towns are level 80, but only give experience at your level), except map completion which is a % of your current level. If you 99% a map, then come back at level 70-ish, you can finish the last thing in every map and easily level up. If you want to take this to the next level, avoid Major Cities at all costs.
Also: Save the personal storyline for around level 70, as well. The experience from this is also based on your current level (and typically sets you at 100% of your current bar, so if you want to take that to the next level, you’ll do the story at 0% experience).
Sorry, I like to know how to min-max weird things…
So a transform that not only stores where you are, but where YOU are and then auto-corrects it (smoothly) when you get hit.
I can see that working without a problem…
Let me get this straight…
If I buy a commander tag, right now, that only cost 100g, can I use it more than just once, and on different characters too?
Also, if I buy a CT right now, which is currently blue, may I change the colour to red, yellow or purple later on once they’ve updated this?
Please, let me know!Since this:
http://www.guildmag.com/command-tag-gamescom-2014/
is confusing me..
If you buy it now and use it. It’s only on that character. You will only have blue.
After the patch:
Whether or not you used it before the patch, when you use it, all your characters are now Commanders.
All your characters have all the colors and may swap them at will.
Dwayna (grentch and lyssa too) are forced to use 15x bolt of damask (15g) 225g. You don’t have a choice. Spinal backpiece has a choice (deldrimor ignot or elonian or damask). Elonian best choice, Deldrimor after that. Damask kinda dumb choice. But it depends on your available crafting professions as well.
For the cost of Damask, you can just buy a craft up to 500 and then get Elonian or Deldrimor.
Heck, get both to 500 and then get Elonian and you’re still saving yourself some money.
As for + 5 and + 10 infusion backpacks. All ascended backpacks have access to infused versions (+ 10, I guess you called say), which is actually 2 infusion slots. The WvW infusions don’t come with Agony Resist. There are offensive infusion backpacks.

Keep in mind, you might die to another Mosquito, and this one might be smaller…
If you want to transfer for free, don’t get attached to your characters.
If you’re willing to spend the extra ($25ish) buck, go for it.
Annnnnnd again, join any server you want. Most servers (even TC, to some degree) has players who hate RP’ers. Sometimes I get into some Megaservers with RP’ers and I’ll get people in map chat flaming them and making fun of them. There’s also people who stop by and commend them for their cute characters and enjoyment of the game.
It most likely won’t make a difference what server you join if you’re going to friend (and join their guild, if you can) a lot of TC people.
Mesmers used to stay invis forever. Got hotfixed.
#OldTorch4
And, they have given everyone who was on the fence about buying one a couple of weeks notice to get a fully functional tag at a discount. Well done.
Snabbed one a few days ago. I haven’t used it in case I could have picked my color. Now, I can use it… not that I need to.
Press F11 → Graphics Tab → Windowed Full Screen (or Windowed) mode.
YOU MISSED THE SKIN?
Gg noob.
The question is: Will they fix the existing bugs?
Of course not. They will, however, break iwarden further.
wait – is that even physically possible!?
Pick One:
Untraited Warden no longer breaks projectiles.
Warden defaults to reflecting projectiles untraited. (Does not affect Curtain reflect.)
And toss in:
Make trait a Grandmaster.
Yeah, instead of buying the Tombs of Knowledge, just convert gems into gold and level your characters. Practically the same thing except more time consuming. You can always use the fast guides. (gw2crafts.net)
You can probably get a toon to 80 for like 20-30$ and 3-4 hours, less if you’re quick and have 2 screens.
Can probably fit it within 30 minutes (duration of a booster) if you plan and purchase all the materials beforehand. Although you might want a big bank or inventory…
Ok now I’m curious.
What would the game be like if everyone with a tag was just using it as a vanity item and leaving it active all the time?
Might be interesting to see just for a day or two.
I bought a compendium because of the price spike and account-boundeyness. I mainly do dungeons so I don’t particularly care about WvW.
Oh, and I have a character who’s called Legenday Beginner, so I’ll now be able to roll around in WvW as Commander Legendary Beginner and totally fail without going… out of character ba-dum-tsh.
Esplen, everything I have seen says a transfer costs 1800 gems and therefore not free. Also I don’t want to play where other players are just -there- and not an actual community or roleplaying.
If you have no characters, you can world transfer for free. That feature is and has been around since the release of this game.
Eh, I did something similar, teaching the Meaty Plant Food recipe to my chef and not my huntsman. In my case, though, it’s cheaper to just get another recipe.
For a second, I thought you meant the other food and was like: “BUT CHEF IS ONLY 3G!”
I need to drink my tea…
If you have more than 3 tags, you need to contact support (after the update) and ask for a refund.
I believe it should be automatic, but basically this.
Count your tags, and you should receive 100g for each tag you have after the third.
If you want to play now, simply make a character on any world and play. Check back on TC’s server status before and after you’re done playing everyday.
If it goes to not being full, move everything that’s not Soulbound into your personal bank (not your guild bank, even if it’s a personal guild) and delete your characters. All of them.
You can now change your server for free. Do so, remake your characters, and loot your bank.
Don’t get too attached until then.
Also: With the new Megaserver system, you automatically get placed into a server based on your Guild, Friends, and own Server. So if all your friends and your guild is in TC, you’ll most likely be with other TC people, regardless of your world.
I’m in NSP and I’m in NSP Lion’s Arch. In most cases, I end up being in NSP servers, but when I’m not, I’m in an AARM server because I (was) in AARM and had some AARM friends (AARM is a guild, not a server).
Actually, I was in an off-shoot guild of AARM with AARM members which is why I got put into AARM servers. I wasn’t actually a part of AARM.

I remembered the perma stealth Torch because of this thread.
focus with an increased swiftness rune?
but yea, aside from guardian, mesmers are the only others that don’t have a base movement speed trait/signet
Guardians have easier access to Swiftness (if they want 100% uptime, they have to stand still, but it’s better than not getting Temporal Curtain swiftness because some idiot gave you 3s of Swiftness as he passed your TC).
Also, Guardian GS leap + sword teleport are much more mobility and movement than… well… Staff 2 (unless we’re talking in combat).
Technically, we have a movement trait, but it sucks so much that it’s not really a trait.
(edited by Esplen.3940)
You’re talking nonsense if you think a warrior can reach never mind keep up 25 stacks of bleed in PvP, however giving staff clones a double hit which can proc Burning and have a 2nd chance at critting for Bleed will be OP.
I don’t do PvP, only PvE.
Then you need to think of PvP when balancing.
Ok, lets think PvP.
I’m thinking of a fire field that covers an entire point, pulses every couple of seconds applying burning, and has a 7 second cooldown.
I’m thinking of a fast autoattack that cleaves and applies 8 second base duration bleeds.
I’m thinking of a kit that can be used point blank and applies long duration bleeds, burns, chill, and poison.
I’m thinking that bouncing staff clones probably aren’t going to match up to the insane condition application sets that a lot of classes have.
Warriors are OP, you don’t fix that with buffing Mesmers.. You fix that by nerfing Warriors. Please don’t confuse my attempts to keep Mesmers from being OP with me saying the game is perfectly balanced – you don’t help balance by adding more OP nonsense.
But yes you do, instead of nerfing classes, just buff them to be in par with warriors! :p
Hehe no one would want to play that game though xD
Nobody plays DotA2?
I don’t even play Necro or Guard and I’ll step up and approve.
If they don’t give you guys ample time, they’ll only have two days to receive player feedback
I disagree with esplen but that’s because I use this guide:
http://dulfy.net/2014/07/11/gw2-elementalist-pve-class-guide-by-haviz-and-zelyhn/
Which explicitly says berserker and not assassins. Assassins is more for high damage reflects iirc.
Pulled from the Elementalist forums section:
Armor
Exotic: The most cost effective choice is full Zerk armor due to its availability. Full Assassin’s armor can sometimes give you higher DPS for some builds, but the difference between the two with appropriate stacks and food is often less than 1%. While learning to play, use Knight’s armor, swapping out to Zerk/Assassin shoulders, gloves, boots, chest, pants, and helm, in that order, as you become more comfortable with content. Try to keep your gear one step out of your comfort zone.
Ascended: Full Zerk, full Assassin, and a mix of Zerk shoulders, gloves, and boots with Assassin helm, chest, and pants each pull ahead for different builds. My favorite is full Zerk because it’s best for some builds by a large margin, but when it isn’t, it isn’t too far behind.
And for PvE Speedruns (assuming group play and team synergy is met):
Therefore our gear is best as:
- Armor: assassin
- Weapons: berserker
- Trinkets: berserker
Note however that such mix is only slightly better than a full berserker set. In addition, going full berserker may be a more efficient choice for less optimal situations (out of speedruns)
I’m pretty sure those guys were completely unprepared for those questions. It wasn’t in their department. They were fudging, trying to do the best they could, but here’s a new flash for you.
Many game developers are more comfortable with code than people. I’m not saying it’s good or right that this should happen. I’m saying cut those poor guys slack, they were clearly in over their head. They didn’t know what to say.
Sorry, I’m going to a university where everyone has social problems, we’re all “losers, geeks, and nerds” and the cool kids bring their 3DS’s to school to play between classes. We’re all studying to go into game development, animation (both for games or animation), and/or art. While I know that there are people here who won’t be prepared for questions outside of their own code, I would not even attempt to get them to talk unless I knew the question was in their realm of existence.
Some people can tow the party line eloquently. They can say things in a way that mollifies even if it’s not what you want to here. But these guys might not even be aware of how popular SAB actually was. I’m sure not all devs have exactly the same knowledge.
It was a bad interview. No question about it. But that’s all it was.
And, with the evergrowing list of bad PR mistakes Anet has made, the fallout is inevitable. That’s not to say I don’t love GW2 and won’t continue playing it (I will and I do), however it seems like… mmm…
GW2 is a giant room. There are pictures adorned on the walls and all around the room. When Anet looks at the pictures, they go to separate corners of the room and each department looks at a single picture, typically small (in relation to the room). The big picture (the entire room) is being ignored. Some pictures are very big (see: double meaning), and some are very small. The small ones are being brought out and Anet thinks of them as the big, precious pieces of art whereas the people enjoying them gloss over them and move along.
And yes, the terms big and small are not in reference to size or scale, but in reference to how players enjoy them. They cater to the casuals, which I’ve been used to, but now they’ve switched their focus to specific, niche minorities while still “catering to casuals”.
So instead of catering to casuals, they’re catering to specific casual players. I didn’t used to be a casual player, and I didn’t like them catering to casuals. I’m now a casual player and I still don’t like them catering to casuals. I also don’t like them catering to a specific casual player, even if it was me.
There are so many things you can do in this game, but then they start taking them away with little to no reason. The main reason I can think of SAB not being included would be server resources, but with Megaservers and all the optimization they’ve done since the last inclusion, there’s no reason for it to not return as a permanent addition unless the Megaservers are not as optimized as they make us think.
Additionally, they’ve supposedly had very, very stable and optimized servers since launch as seen by this video here
If they have people saying things that are blatantly untrue, they really need to get that PR department going because right now they’re just tossing kittens into the fan and wondering why it’s not giving them rainbows.
Mmm, I’d like to note that the Guild Registrar gives access to the Guild Bank, not the Personal Bank. You still have to go to “Your World” or an upgraded Keep for access to a Personal Bank.
This was what I thought – but there’s a small drop-down menu in the upper left corner (just above the list of items in your inventory) from which you can select your personal account bank. Open your inventory in a seperate window, and you can move things about.
Oh I’ll have to check that out later, thanks!
Mercy on a mixture of Knight/Soldier. Gotta get dem resses in, yo.
I also run Traveler on Celestial (stat loss with stat loss for more stat loss).
Scholar on Berserker.
Ranger on Assassin.
Lyssa on Rampager (needs to get changed).
Water on Giver’s (not quite as good as the 51% I used to get from Water/Monk/Sanctuary).
Lich on Statless (yes, statless).
Centaur on Valkyrie.
I only actually use the Assassin’s and Celestial, though. The rest are nice if my armor breaks and I can’t repair for some reason.
I’m glad we’re not last, but I’d really have wished… well… I don’t know. I feel like no matter what we see here, it’s going to be changed based on non-Mesmer’s opinions and we’re going to get bent… again…
Okay, okay, let’s just say that during the four days between the Skill Bar Segment and the actual Patch, the devs are not only working hard to finish implementing and rounding off the changes, but also looking at feedback, running the numbers, tweaking things, rounding them off, and changing them, then going to the drawing board to see why the feedback was there.
Now, let’s remember that the four days between the Skill Bar and the Patch include Saturday and Sunday.
So unless the balance team wants to pull an weekend retreat at the office, I highly doubt the Necro and Guardian feedback are going to account for much.
@Mark Katzbach, doing a system based on how “Karl feels” is a really bad idea. It’s not that I don’t care how Karl feels (because I really don’t, sorry), but there are reasons for placement. Someone going first shouldn’t be getting minor changes to their skills and actions and someone going last shouldn’t be requiring a lot of major changes.
Additionally, as people have pointed out, you shouldn’t be doing this feedback checking after sign-ups for a Tournament, nor should you be doing it right before a patch. It really makes it seem like you were sloppy and only caring about showing your playerbase that you were actually doing something, when you weren’t.
That’s not to say that you weren’t doing anything, but that’s what it looks like, which is why it’s sloppy. Remember the WvW threads where people would get little feedback and tidbits of potential upcoming changes? It kept people interested in the direction the game was going, along with giving feedback as to how they thought it would break or balance the game.
I think that’s what feedback is about, not a last minute: “OH HEY GUIZ, HERE’S A PATCH, WE’RE NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED, WHADYA THUNK ’BOUT IT?!”
I just feel like this entire ordeal is sloppy and too player-reliant without actually giving the players a chance to give feedback. For example, with the Warriors, I highly doubt anything is going to be changed off of what was said in the Skill Bar, scaling might change slightly, but we never looked at that, anyways. All of the feedback on the Warrior forum was therefore useless, and that profession could have been done last. If any changes are going to be made, it’s most likely going to be in reverting a change or “unnerfing” one of the potential nerfs, which is also fine if you’re going to only do that as a last minute thing.
For Necromancer and Elementalist, people should be preparing to know what they are going to get changed around because they have very fluid builds and setups. If you suddenly drop a bomb on them, it’s going to hit them hard. The Warrior got no such bomb, and therefore should have been towards the end. (Actually, the Warrior did get a bomb, which was Adrenalin decay and missing a Burst, but those are QoL nerfs that almost every other profession has been hit with in year 1 of balance.)
Mmm, I’d like to note that the Guild Registrar gives access to the Guild Bank, not the Personal Bank. You still have to go to “Your World” or an upgraded Keep for access to a Personal Bank.
Actually, for Elementalist, Assassins can be used instead to get slightly higher damage output (except against destructible objects that can’t be crit).
Mix and matching can also be very strong, depending on what you’re doing.
OP, these are not people who work in the departments for the questions they’re answering and they did staggeringly bad because of it. Feel sorry for them for being in over their heads, rather than making a big deal about a single interview.
They didn’t say SAB is gone for good. They basically said they had a specific narrative focus. They have that focus in part because FANS complained about not having it in the first season. They listened to us.
Judging where a company is going from a single interview is just a bit of an overreaction in my opinion.
The problem, I think, is that there is a community that wants to play things like SAB and Anet not only sounds like they have no team working on it, but won’t acknowledge it as a mini-game or activity and instead treats it as a festival.
While I do agree that it wasn’t part of their department, it really sounds like it wasn’t part of anyones department. Additionally, they’re trying to be secretive because they don’t want to spoil the direction that the Living Story is going (into the maw of Mordremoth), which ends up just being, to me, an interview that would have ended up being (if they asked the “right” questions):
“Stay tuned and watch the patch notes.”
Which isn’t really how you conduct yourself during an interview.
A-are we playing the same game?
Oh I was just fixing it. The quote is:
And so, I think it would be very unlikely that you would see it as part of a Living World season release, as to whether or not we come back to it, whether or not in some other form, you know, I can’t really say, I don’t know how likely that is and that is really all I can say about it. We know that there are a ton of people that really enjoyed it, and we had a lot of fun playing portions of it, but it’s difficult to fit in within the narrative structure that we have now and I think that makes it very much less likely that it will appear in a Living World season going forward.
GuildMag: But will it come back after the current season?
We can’t really comment about what our long term plans are for the game, and so, you know, it is a similar answer if you ask me what was gonna happen in the upcoming episodes of season 2. Like, I really can’t say. But it is a very much different game in a lot of ways than Guild Wars 2 – a game within a game – and we’re trying to focus already in World v. World and PvP and PvE and Fractals. There are lots of systems that we have and we want to focus first on getting those to a state where we’re really happy with them and we’re fully supporting them and then we could look into… ‘All right, now that we have those up to a quality that we’re really happy with and fans are really happy with, what other projects can we take on, and what things can we look at doing?
Tl;dr:
Doesn’t fit with Mordremoth and there’s no time to celebrate and jump around. Instead, we’ll just not have anyone work on it or even consider placing it in the game (because it doesn’t fit) until we find a time when it fits. Also, LS might keep going after 2 with little to no breaks.
Maybe it’ll come after LS2?
Maybe not.
Either way, it looks like Moto is back to being jobless and on the verge of starvation.
They did sell a permanent pass to the Royal Terrace.
They sold a permanent pass to the Havoc’s Heir, too- that wasn’t the point of what I wrote.
I said it’s like selling that, and then removing the functionality for an entire year before fessing up that it’s not likely to come back in the distant future.
FTFY
And they still haven’t addressed it.
Yes, but I’ll probably just stick with Fail Wars 2.
You do know that Mesmer is the profession with the most amount of bugs, problems, and is desperately in need of QoL and TLC (although the QoL and TLC is on par with other professions, namely Ranger and Necro).
But if you’re that close to the frozen water, you won’t be able to sail away.
Also, the rope would fray and break, would it not?
They did sell a permanent pass to the Royal Terrace.
I thought Fresh Air don’t go in Water.
I think this is more aimed towards TD, BD, DS, MtD.
Actually no, it’s just aimed towards DS and MtD.
But it still shows up as missing stuffs, iirc.
You can pre-cast the scepter chain and get the third shot in, use quickness to toss the third attack and cancel the animation (after the projectile has left) with your form cast. Will require a teammate to provide you with quickness, but for a clone like that….
You mean like gw2crafts.net ?
