I know you have lots of self interest here, but come on….really claiming the listing fee? You’re smarter than that…at least argue something with merit. The listing fee is always there kitten it’s (so it is got filtered?)not increased for listing early so there’s no increase of costs associated with it.
What self interest do i have then by saying this is a bad idea?
The OP wanted to have old listings returned along with the listing fee, which basically means UNLIMITED storage for anybody.
Please explain how that would benefit the overall health of the game.
All the items you have in long term listings are your self interest.
Yes they did, which is why your initial comment about free storage is moot.
Players would be more inclined at list competitively. When sellers compete buyers benefit. Since most desired objects are subject to extreme rng buying becomes the only realistic option.
If you make and sell both twilight and sunrise, you can then buy eternity with the profits. It’s significantly cheaper, but involves risk and extra time.

Due to their prices they are basically pointless. The only upgrades I can think of worth using it on would be the superior sigil of generosity. As much as +14 infusions cost, them of themselves are pointless as 70 ar is maximum needed for any agony and that can be achieved w/o the costly upgrades.
So if they were intended for high level infusion, then why are high level infusions basically pointless?
I am of the opinion that players bank supply if more of a deterrent to spikes. If those bids listings were removed it’s not like those item disappear. They will still be available to pounce on spikes and more likely to do so as improper listings would actually have some ramification.
Also the tp does serve as free storage as no losses are incurred until an item is removed. Perfect examples of this are black lion weapon skins. You can buy them for 70g ish when they are one ticket and immediately list them for sale at twice the price knowing that they will eventually sell due to game mechanics and not have to worry or pay for storing the items.
didn’t we just do this exact thread 2 weeks ago?
Of course we did and we will continue to have the same thread brought up because the poor implementation of them.
Vendor price would help increase inflation as many would simply do just that.
They should constantly balance item rewards with sinks. Rewards aren’t Ronco Rotisseries you can’t “set it and forget it” and expect it to be perfect.
I was half expecting each spoiler to contain loads jibberish and having to find one that had the actual meaning..ie like sifting through all the trash loot looking/hoping for something decent, but I commend the post either way.
I know Ive been saying this since about week two, but I’ll say it again……they need to rethink their reward design. If it’s one person making all these reward decisions well then….maybe it’s time to reallocate them to something they are good at, b/c rewards are evidently not their strong suit.
Can anyone confirm that this change has gone into effect? I have had the 10k cap for a long time and was under the impression that one the monthly reset happened the change would come into effect, yet after completing the 10ap my overall ap remained unchanged. Is this a bug or is the change awaiting a build…ie 13th?
When solo queuing how many consecutive losses does it take for the match making to correct itself. You’d think after so many it would either team you with better players or against worse players. (ofc given said player is also one of/if not the top performer on team)
I wonder what the record for loses is? 20?
Im sorry there is no possible way for the matches to be 50/50. Its 5 vs 5 where some players are kobe and dirk and some are kwame brown and reggie evans. I have no idea where int he world your gonna play someone at exactly your teams skill level with either you getting better or getting worse to match a certain type of player.
I agree here. It’s impossible to turn random people based on statistics into two even teams. I guess thats why GW1 had rating associated to teams (guilds) instead to the player, so random arena was still random (however I miss those ~30 game winstreaks while playing solo Q…), while competition was in GvG.
“Close as possible” y’all. That means something different than absolutely 50/50.
Whenever I play 500:0, 500:5 and such matches in Ranked Q, I wonder how ‘close’ those games are.
Huh? Op said they would like matchmaking to be as “close as possible” to 50/50 chance. That means they want more evenly matched matches based on what’s possible. Then the guy you agreed with took that to mean they wanted perfect matches regardless of possibility for some reason, when the op didn’t say that.
What’s to come with the overabundance of rewards (ie…things that only sell for 2c) that Wintersday supplied?

That’s pretty impressive. As mainly a pve player I only have 1/8 and only 1/3 of the way with the rest (all 50-80/150). That’ll be something once I can match what OP has done via solo queuing.
What Arenanet also did 100% right is the trading post. The one central game-global stock exchange-like trading post. I’m speaking of the concept and general design like a stock exchange. We can always argue if the user interface could be improved, but the general design of the trading post itself is almost perfect. It’s one of the few subsystem designs I don’t have anything to complain about.
The other thing is the graphical design of the game. It’s always a pleasure to watch this beautifully designed world.
While I agree whole heartedly about the graphical design being fantastic, I cannot agree that the trading post is perfect. I suspect it is the numero uno reason why rewards in this game are the way they are.
This is a great tool for messing around with building a rig
Wrong section for this
That said I do not exactly agree with Pax’s comment “mid/high-end graphics card 770,970, or r9 280 <- is more important then your CPU”. Since you noted that you were interested in mmo performance…your cpu matters more imo. You could run this game perfectly fine on a 100 dollar gpu and an upgrade to 300 dollar one would not really add much at all. However the difference between kitten (really how does 50 dollars get filtered) cpu and a $250 cpu will be rather noticeable.
Edit…I would not recommend that pre-built with the a-10 linked for this.
Edit#2…You can get a perfectly fine PSU for 30-50 bucks. There’s no reason to go overboard.

Maybe they went 120-0 then lost the next 160. lol
Best thing I have gotten so far was an unidentified rare red dye. The kind you’d craft. Merry X-mas btw.
When you get those people on your team and you have to have them blocked b/c they don’t know how to behave it puts your team at an immediate disadvantage. So it’s not only you that this person has effected but the whole team. I wish it were so simple as block and be done with it.
The players. The people that play the game. I cannot think of anything that even comes close to that.
I am of the opinion that the game should cull out players that consistently act crude. They keep quite of a number of players that might otherwise play pvp away, thus harm the health of the format.
If you consistently show you don’t know how to act around people you should lose your rights to play.

Just curious to what the point of these was supposed to be? What was the reasoning behind
1) The stats (fall dmg reduction)
2) The sheer amount
3) Tier (reward track major milestone rewards)
1) No sub. The base release price this game was a great deal and for the current deal prices it’s mind numbingly phenomenal. I could not recommend this game highly enough for the box prices.
2)Game world. I simply flat out enjoy it even though I take it for granted quite often.
3)Ofc the people. The main reason I am still playing this after almost 8.5k hours. There are some truly wonderful people that make up the community of this game.
Maybe the drops really are that bad and we are not the outliers, but the norm? Maybe those with decent drops are the outliers? Wouldn’t surprise me all that much.
Grab a 22 sided die. Roll it. If you get a 7…Happy Holidays! If not sorry bout your luck…rng suxs.
I am of the opinion that the desertion party result should only apply to premade parties. If players who joined solo have a random party member leave dc..then they shouldn’t have a penalty for someone they do not know.
I’m split. A long time back a dev told us to not delete ascended mats b/c they be useful in the future, but they add up so fast that they clog inventories and bank space. Mawdrey and the Star are nice, but really do not properly address the oversupply of these materials. They need another sink that is not either capped at a low daily level and/or not tied to things like t6 mats. I do like the quests/scavenger hunts associated with them though.
I am hosting something similar in my guild and would not recommend sending gold. If you send gold and the person that has you sends gold, you might as well not be in it in the first place.
Wanze posted it yesterday.

4 of each of consumable tonic type and 2 mystic coins
It made the other 10 snowflake tonic forge much more palatable though.
Please understand: I do hear the concerns about RNG. I do not profess to be a master of the subject of game economies but sure, I understand the concerns. I just want to point out that this thread isn’t about RNG and the items in questions are available in the TP, so I think we’re covered. (Meaning, let’s keep the RNG discussion in the appropriate thread, please.
)
I just want to say that as a long-time gamer, I totally understand and embrace the concept of rarity as an important factor in games and their economies. Maybe come would dispute it, but as far as I understand it, RNG is part of the system that ensures that items hold value. Until I’m convinced there’s a viable alternative (and yes, in the other threads, which I will read!) I can’t view RNG as the demonic system that it’s claimed to be… even while I’ve spent far, far too many hours trying to score the rare items myself!
If you take on board that rare items should be rare, and if you want your own rare items to hold value, then… Ah, but as I said, this thread isn’t about RNG. I’m happy we were able to share the recipe and I wish everyone the best of luck in scoring the nice Wintersday items, whether they choose to seek them or buy them on the TP.
So from this may we gather that the reliance on RNG in this game is due to the game economy?
Most of those complaints stemmed from artificial difficulty, things like bad camera angles with the dome.
Liadri was reward behind challenge….novel concept.
Gonna have to address some of those
1) We don’t know about the forge rate increasing. All we know is a change was made to help diversify outcomes which included downgrades…..not something that’s agreed upon to be a good thing.
tl:dr While gold might be easier to come by, most things also cost more. Targeting specific items is still heavily gated by rng and dr.
1) We do know specifically. It was early in the game, a few months after Lost Shores I think, or around that time- they specifically stated that they would increase the drop rate of precursors from the mystic forge
tl:dr His point negates the cost of materials on the trading post. The assumption is that you can earn your precursor without buying any of the components off the TP, but just farming and generating everything yourself. And, it is possible. I’ve done it. Back in the days when it was (arguably by Wanze) harder, for that matter.
I will have to acknowledge that they said they did do that early on (I had forgotten about it and was referring to latter changes). I will however still note that whatever was done then was so negligible on the player level that it may as well not happened.
As to farming mats for forging as a method…Well that’s possible as long as RNG is on your side. If it’s not…..well you’re sol.
Question: Are the players effected by this repeatedly effected by it? Are those who are not consistently not? Or is it random, one run the same player will be then the next not?
So those who didn’t play get two, while those that did get one? I guess it’s confusing because it’s counterintuitive.
(edited by Essence Snow.3194)
I watched a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szwHGkSyHlY&list=UUYcZuPaZfonVRjeqFpRukqA
and I got confused by it as I have been on most of today and yesterday and only got 1 login reward. Are we on 1st daily login reward or 2nd as of 12/16 5pm pst?
It’s only 1 win during the day. If you want it get your 1 win then switch back to whatever you were on b4. It’s not like you have to play that profession all day.
I would assume they would be talking about the utility consumables. Potions of X slaying. Example CoF potions of flame legion slaying or scarlet armies slaying.
They nerfed both bones and venoms in cursed shore. Venoms from spider hatchings and bones from entire map. Dust did benefit from becoming obtainable via ecto salvaging.
Gonna have to address some of those
1) We don’t know about the forge rate increasing. All we know is a change was made to help diversify outcomes which included downgrades…..not something that’s agreed upon to be a good thing.
2) World bosses got nerfed from character bound to account bound. I don’t think dungeon chests ever got buffed.I’m also not sure about wvw chests. The rest of that is correct though.
3) I can agree to most of this given the same exceptions as above.
4)t5/6 demand and uses are also up causing prices significantly higher than before
5)Right on the money with shards
6) Agreed
7) Agreed

I thought Lilith quit?
1380 hours. not. one. precursor. ever.
How many hours does a person have to play in order for that to be considered having “worked” for it? 1000? 2000? 3000? …
“…play in order for that to be considered having ‘worked’ for it” screams, I was here long enough so I am now entitled…. I see at no point where you “earn” a precursor that way. You either get really lucky or work to purchase one. Then more work to make a Legendary if that is your ultimate goal. I would love to see everyone be able to craft one some day and like Mawdry II I am sure it will take time, some tasks and a lot of perseverance. You have to decide if you want that precursor bad enough to either try the luck angle or work to buy it.
They have (well to me) very different feelings. Something about buying someone else’s luck just feels bad to me and it kinda tarnishes the whole deal.
But you don’t have to play high level fractals!
Worst case would be them putting them in black lion chests.
I’ve had 8,772 hours. No drop.
Ouch, I thought I had it bad. 8,340 hrs no drop. Well at least I know I’m not alone is this boat.
I switch houses fairly often and use a 150Mbps tp-link wi-fi usb stick while I’m not at my normal house. It works perfectly fine as long as the signal strength is good. When the signal is weak it struggles as expected. Powerline adapters rock when wi-fi just wont cut it.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the price of tea in China but….
One of this week’s Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 7 has been withdrawn after some users discovered that it blocked installation of software containing digital signatures, including first- and third-party software, and even other Windows updates.
The problem update is called KB3004394
Lots of users have experienced issues after installing the Omega drivers after said Windows update.
