Obviously one big issue (other than the plethora of bugs) with Mesmer is the lack of speed, specifically out of combat. I originally went with runes of centaur and could maintain perma swiftness between heals and temporal curtain. I didn’t like this as it locked me into rather useless rune set and would put my heal on CD half the time.

My guild followed a new strategy along boon duration for WvW. I noticed that I now can maintain swiftness with almost 90% uptime just from temporal curtain. Combine this with food and it’s easily 100% solo uptime and definitely 100% in a zerg.

It uses 2 superior monk runes, 2 superior water runes, and 2 major water runes. I like this set up better as it will apply to ALL boons and will allow my heal to be ready when needed.

What do you guys think?

Lol, yes, spend karma so you get more karma back! Orrian boxes are decent for transferring karma to alts. So therefore gearing up alts would be the main thing I’d suggest (from temple vendors obviously)

I think Anet underestimated this part. If any “core” player having debate w/ those “carebear” players in public forum about GW2’s content, who’s going to win most of the time? Not only that, their words carry weight within their circles.

Another good point. I consider myself inbetween those two. I get on and play almost everyday. Lately I’ve been having less fun and spending less time playing. Updates used to excite me, I don’t even care about this one. The wings look cool, but that’s about it. I’m pretty sick and tired of temp content.

You need to get to lvl 70 first. You’re doing world bosses and stuff but the rares you get won’t be worth much. You get weapons based on your level, and only weapons rare weapons 68/69+ will give ectos on salvage, which is why those rares are 15,20,25 silver.

Yes, also CoF p1 is a very fast dungeon to do that will get you a good sum of money.

You might mean all the best in the world, but my cynicism just can’t let me get past this one….

Just wanted to say my fiance plays. There are 4/5 females in my guild out of about 40 regulars. I know that our high officer also hosts ‘girls night’ on our server.

I’ve done probably around 30 fotm runs past 20. I’ve gotten two skins, one might say lucky me, I say screw your two trident skins maw, I hate you!

Even more irony? My VERY first 20 run I got a skin. As my joy jumped through the roof, I was immediately crushed when I saw it was a trident. “Hey” I told myself “At least I’ll be cool when fighting Krait” I told myself =(

Keep in mind that you had to purchase with real money. Just because you bought gems with gold doesn’t mean you should get a pack.

Granting badges for the jumping puzzles enables players who don’t want to do PVP to still craft a legendary (which is definitely not a WvW exclusive item).

Yeah, feel free to go crazy with them. Just do some class reseearch so you can know if you should save up for anything. For example, a mesmer should save up for portal, time warp, blink, etc. Don’t waste them on signets until you have a lot.

You’ll be rolling in skill points later in the game, as I just spent 250 skill points to make my focus weapon and still have 50 left over.

If the person is in full rare gear (or even exotic) up to his/her level, using food, sigils, and runes, then in no way should you consider this person not contributing. Especially if they play well, I’d rather have that than a new 80 who is stuck in blues not understand their class.

Having said that, that is very rarely the case, and why wouldn’t the person want xp on their non-level 80?

what is wrong with you guys? You knew this was a multiplayer game when you bought it. There is tons of single player content. If that’s not good enough than go by a single player game.

I’m all for players playing how they want to, but when you whine, complain, and expect them to put lots of resources in energy into something that would barely benefit the game, that bugs me a lot.

@baalblade wow clone? really? That’s like saying cod and battlefield are goldeneye clones because they all have guns in them where you shoot people.

This game allows for tons of different builds, which means that almost any profession can pair well with other professions. It’s not like other games where you could say, okay, you be a tank, I’ll be a healer, then all we’ll need is DPS.

The first two that pop into my head is guardian and ele. Both tanky builds, tons of boon sharing, and the ele can drop combo fields while the guardian hits hammer #2, a blast finisher every 5 seconds.

Two thieves work very well together in spvp/wvw.

Yup, and mesmers are of little use to a wvw zerg other than portal bot and maybe veil. The zerg is going to usually benefit more from eles and guardians, for example.

The games I have played that were designed well would have an option to reject inspect, duels, whispers, etc.

Honestly, add inspect and give the user the option to decline all inspects, request permission to inspect, and accept all inspects. Easy as that. Any problem?

Also, don’t make the case that people will just kick those that decline inspects. They could already do that if they refuse to link.

To me it seems a little OP. I think the only tweaking it needs is that the teleport should be 300-700 range and random (if you make it 600 people will be better able to guess where you’re going).

Signet of Inspiration gives swiftness more often then you think. Sometimes it even stacks swiftness two times in a row.

Not very useful unless you have swiftness/boon duration. Trust me. If you have 100% boon duration, you can MAYBE get 100% uptime on swiftness, but even that’s not a guarantee.

If you think you’re going to get 100% swiftness duration, on top of clones, stealth, and teleportation, you’re kidding yourself.

I’m okay staying in this tier for another round about, the fights are good and the forum posts are pretty enjoyable to read, even if the moderator doesn’t think so. Maybe we should talk more like tier 1 servers?

This fractal sucks, yes. Strifey and his team do a great job with getting good solid strategies that don’t abuse mechanics or use exploits. I feel more accomplished following those methods than “jump the cage here” or “portal through this glitch spot”. IMO the cage/switch part isn’t what needs attention, it’s the bombs/gun door and ‘teh wave’ that need some reworking.

Thief or mesmer, especially 1v1. most competent players will be able to get of your 100blades or see your killshot coming.

The difference is thieves generally do there burst right away. If it hits, you’re done, if not, reset fight and try again.

Mesmer usually needs a bit of time to build up, spawning clones, phantasms, placing, etc, then burst at the right time.

Get over it an play Fractals? I got my vial of condensed mists well before I hit fractals 10. In fact, my back piece is the first Ascended item I got.

I have only ever done one fractal, level 10, in my whole life. Don’t plan on going back there.They are just too long. Thankfully I got my one vial. And 3 months later when i got 250 blood at my own casual rate, I crafted it. But this is just one of my 5 characters. I don’t like farming and I don’t like fractals, so how am I going to equip my other characters with an ascended back items? Why are we forced to play a part of the game we genuinely dislike? PVE players complain about having to WvW to craft a legendary, but using double ports in EB JP isn’t WvW’ing.
PS it was my first ascended item too.

Memory is foggy but I seem to remember going around WvW to get vista’s, poi’s, and skill points.

People don’t like to craft have to that one too.

Weak argument

Ascended back item takes 1350 tokens to buy then 500 tokens to upgrade it to ascended. That’s 1850 relics just for one back piece. If you do your daily at high levels you might get 100 relics. That’s 19 runs just for one fractal piece. Even if you did run fractals it still requires a grind.

How about from my perspective getting trinkets for fractals? I need two trinkets, which would be either 40 laurels ea +50 ectos or 12 commednations plus 5 gold. So just to get my two trinkets in order to progress further in fotm, I would have to wait around 2 months (80 laurels) IF I played every single day plus 100 ectos or wait 5 weeks to get the commendations (assuming I was at every guild event and they had everything unlocked) plus 10 gold (or is it 2?)

That’s also only for one of my 4 (soon to be 5) 80s

Great idea. It could use some tweaking but the core mechanic of the idea is interesting and seems like a good fit.

Honestly though I think there should be a bit more of a rock,paper, scissors game being played. Give rangers the reveal trap, don’t make it cost badges/karma

Utility: Reveal Trap: When this trap is triggered, it reveals all stealthed foes in a 300 radius
Elite: Reveal Spirit: Pulses every 5 seconds for 30 seconds. Each pulse reveals stealthed foes in a 900 radius

Things that are encouraging zerging

1) AOE limit
2) Shared Xp, kills, badges wXP, etc.
3) Supply carrying limits (almost fixed this with wXP rank in supply capacity…. then failed)
4) Siege build sites deactivation timers being so low
5) Commander tags
6) Similar to #2, equal rewards regardless of how many you are fighting and how many are fighting around you.

No, they shouldn’t be there. This is just carrying a PUG. I have no issues doing it for a guildie, or even maaaaybe a PUG if they tell us, but most people like this don’t say anything and get carried through fotm. These are the ones killing targets on cliffside (even though there is a much, much better mesmer tactic that we use) and not follwing the group on jellyfish underwater boss.

My rule I would like to add is

• Don’t offer to switch characters to make something easier in a PUG unless you KNOW who started it.

Past experiences show that people get carried away and/or forget and they try logging to their mesmer/thief/guardian and then kick everybody because they started the run.

BiS gear requires more than one type of play.

It’s been 9 months man. Don’t sit here say this will be looked at. This should have been implement day one. Quit making all this content that disapears in two weeks and focus on fixing the core of the game (in a timely manner). This is a hideous oversight along with select enemy only. Games several years older have buttons implemented to highlight and select NPCs or enemies through players.

Yes, I know there are two different teams working on live content and fixes. Well guess what, either move the live resources to fixes or fire that team and hire a new one. Better yet, fire both and higher a brand new team that can actually fix it.

I do not want my guardian to have the same allocation as my mesmer.

It would also be unfair to get rank 100 on my mesmer, make a brand new toon, then be rank 100 on that toon as well.

Dear Anet: fire your entire bug fixing department and hire people that actually test their fixes, because so far, every time you ‘fixed’ something that wasn’t sequencing, it took me anywhere from 15 seconds to 15 minutes to find a new way around it.

Assuming you were already rank two or higher, you’re actually missing out on 4 chests. Maybe log back into each borderland to see if it pops up (I know people have that issue on map completion sometimes)

Had some funs in SoS BL, once again running with Kiwi + pugs. At one point against a SoS zerg we had, what I would call a mock GvG battle just north of hero’s lodge, across the bridge. Both Zergs saw each other, stopped and applied blast finishers and charged in. We veiled twice and pretty much rolled over the SoS party. Many other battles around the map with both CD and SoS. Great open field fun. Good job Sojoo.

As part of SoS, I was on the map for that, but don’t believe I was part of that zerg. You guys were definitely on top of things. We were trying to react but you were already two steps ahead. Although we had some good fights and good defense, I applaud you.

I’m not making excuses, but in all fairness around 9-10eastern time our TS3 server went down and we were left without voice communication. It was very frustrating. Yesterday or the day before we were hitting CD hard, and all SoS got booted from the map and couldn’t rejoin, so we went to SBI. Somebody in CD is very very good at hacking. I kid, I kid.

Would YOU want that responsibility? What if that person played on a specific server and people found out. We know SBI has at least one Dev. What if all of a sudden this tier 4 server was playing two tier 8 servers. You don’t think people would complain?

Your first arguement is invalid. A “seasoned veteran” usually won’t pull anything, or would know how to get rid of it. Skipping is not an exploit, as many have said.

Fighting colussus on the wall is incredibly stupid. I’ve been in two groups that tried it and failed miserably. I then had to explain how the boss fight worked and they all said it was a lot easier once they understood it.

There was a patch a couple of months ago where the dye drop rate probably double. A couple of days to a week later Anet said they restored the drop rate back to ‘normal’. This was right after they stealth nerfed ranger DPS on sbow #1 saying that it was an ‘animation’ glitch. When the community showed that it actually lowered DPS, the dev (Jon Peters) said they did that on purpose, confirming that they pretty much lied to the community.

A lot of people took this as a bad sign, left a bad taste in the mouth, whatever, and assumed that when they put the dye rates back to ‘normal’ they actually reduced it even further than what it originally was.

Have you checked your keybindings to figure out what they are bound to?

Make sure your 3 is bound to 3 and 9 is bound to 9. My only guess is maybe your 3 is unbound and your 9 is bound to 3, so then when your 3 auto casts it hits your 9 too?

Yeah. He shouldn’t be able to do any damage. He should just sit in the middle of the room and use the /dance emote while we hit him down in 1 min. That sounds much more fun.

The boss is fine as is. It’s your group and boss knowledge that isn’t.

The boss is hard, yes, but manageable once you know how to fight it. If you have a mesmer and at least one guardian in your group it’s a cake walk.
