It happens quite abit. Not sure why, But if you jump somewhere near the gating area to get in and out. it sometimes throw you out even tho you are somewhat far from it relatively.
Hmmm, that’s interesting. Thanks for letting me know. It’s the first time it has happened to me, but I’ll keep this in mind.
I would rather they allow homes (which would act as a free wp). They could even add a Homeowners tax or something to adjust for the gold sink
I was fighting in eternal battlegrounds and was on top the gate. It started getting some heavy aoe and I was nearly dead after just reviving somebody. I jumped down on the inside of the gate, pretty far from the outside ledge, as this was our main keep and had thicker walls. As I jumped down I got teleported/glitched outside the gate and died from the attackers. I reported it in game but also wanted to bring it up here.
I think it was a bug because:
1) There were no visible mesmer portals and I never pressed F.
2) They were using the occasional pull, but as I mentioned I was on the other side of the wall, out of LOS, and out of range.
Yeah! And what about those uninterested in salvaging! Or what about those uninterested in staying alive! What if you don’t like to gather anything!
It will stay, its meant to get you to participate in all aspects of the game.
For some reason I really dislike the Arah armor. However I’m a big fan of CoF, I feel like most people will grind for that look so I think it might be too common. I turn into a bit of a hipster occasionally.
Could we stop calling them hunters? kthxbai
Who cares? Another major game came out that’s a direct competitor. Of course sales/population will decline.
All I know is I feel like I have gotten my $60 worth, and I’m not even starting to get bored or feel like I’ve exhausted the game.
Plus I can stop playing anytime I want and comeback in a couple of weeks or months and not feel like I paid for something I didn’t use.
This is a known issue and there are discussions on it in the Forum bugs & website forum.
Some vistas are ruining the game for me. Am I alone? Please heed my call.

I only find vistas slightly annoying when it’s up a huge hill and I’m running around for 5/6 minutes trying to find the base of the hill, only to realize it’s a tunnel or something in a cave.
But for the most part I love vistas, judging from everybody else it seems like nobody really has an issue with them
I’d love story mode was soloable with a party of NPCs, having 4 randoms raging because you are not skipping every cutscene and dialogue “to do it quick so we can farm and grind badges FAST!” quite disrupts the immersion.
As for finding groups, it depends on your server and class. If you play thief or elementalist, finding a group is harder than the other classes. If you play guardian / ranger you are worshipped into any group.
I’m a ranger… where are my worshippers? =)
As for the people whining, I just tell them it’s story mode so I’m going to take my sweet time. I’ll watch ALL the cutscenes.
These do sound pretty interesting. I would love my ranger much much more if it were this ‘fencer’ type you are speaking of, in melee range. I love characters that can kinda stand in the back and be an annoyance.
However I think the devs have a lot of work before they even consider adding more content.
I think the issue is a little more with story mode. I think people feel like they should be able to do it solo since it’s part of the ‘story’ and not a social aspect of the game.
If not solo, at least with 4 other AI (much like GW1).
Also, I’ve only done one dungeon and that was AC story. I went to CoF because I want to start doing runs to get the armor, and nobody was around. Thanks to your post I now realize that I should head to LA
I agree with the OP. Everybody here seems to miss the point that the ranger (character itself) does less damage to equate for the pet doing damage. That’s all fine and dandy in PvE where most mobs lock on to a target and stand still.
Then in sPvP or WvW where everybody is moving and your pet wont attack outside the gate while you are on the wall (or only sometimes) you are nerfed. The pet has a HORRIBLE time attacking anything moving, so you’re basically at about 70% of your potential as a ranger.
I would love to see an option to perm-stow your pet which would give you a 15/20% damage bonus (or maybe toughness bonus/vitality bonus, something you could select yourself). 15/20 is just a random, obviously the devs would know more about how much % increase to actually grant you.
If they just fix the pet & arrow AI, then I wouldn’t care as much.
Anywho, back to the original subject….
The sword is very nice for avoiding damage. You have the decent/constant damage on 4 and the swift/might boon on 5 for the warhorn. The sword then gives you a backward evade (2) which you can choose to either keep running away or leap back at your foe, and 3 gives you a nice skill evade that brings you to the back of the opponent and poisons them.
I use sword/warhorn & shortbow combo in sPvP mainly as an annoyance character. I try to get some damage in with my shortbow and if they turn to target me I use the sword/warhorn to avoid them.
This has been suggested many times and will not be put in to place.
Same here, actually just happened when I went to go comment on this. But then I got this error : “Login Error: Portal returned error: 42: {”error":42,product,module,line,“text”:"ErrTimeout"} — forum2_controller.rb 123 (fangamer:-2)."
Also a few times I’ll log in when getting here, go to a forum, click to reply, and realize I’m not logged in anymore (the whole time I was active and in the window)
Do you have a decent amount of karma? World invaders sets are sold in WvW at all the beginning way points for karma. They have blue, green, and yellow gear. Blue would probably cost around 5K karma, green around 30K karma, yellow around 100K karma to get fully decked out. Those might be a little high, but I would go get some greens as it will most likely be better than your gear now.
I haven`t used the mystic forge at all yet. But just adding up real fast with a calculator, you used 1250 t5 scales and only got about 173 t6 scales in return. I`m going by each number as an attempt and handin of 50 scales to get the listed number you wrote. If that is true, that really don`t seem like a good way to get higher tier materials. Seems more like robbery. Thanks for the heads up though. At least now I know to never try that.
Except t5 is about 80c and t6 is about 11s (from what I read in a different post) which means he made 6gold-ish.
Nice info. Nice sigfigs…
Agreed. I got excited reading a lot of the bug fixes on the update. Read through the whole list of necro, engineer, mesmer, etc. Got to ranger and saw two fixes, both of which don’t affect my build.
I was really hoping they would have the Pet and arrow AI fixed.
For pet users. You can target a mob using ranged weapon and be JUST out of a range and your pets will attack. This is particularly useful with mass mobs to ensure your pet gets the agro first, and not you.
Or you can do it the normal way where you click the mob and press f1 (default for pet attack)……
Oh…. welllll. I’m sure there are more databases out there. At least the exotics one will help you get started
I forget where it is, but I just saw a thread with all exotic armors and looks. I would use the search topic for it.

TL;DR My toon got butt hurt by these classes in PvP.
Seriously? Ranger OP?
I think the 15% trading fee on the TP is enough of a gold sink. Especially considering how it’s cheaper to buy stuff there than waste time/money gathering items.
I feel like the WPs discourage moving around while sidekicking and world exploration are there to encourage it (along with DR)
I’m glad we are off the weapon thing. The armor idea isn’t too bad though. I think I would almost rather it just be so you can transmute any look of armor (heavy, medium, or light) onto the stats of any armor.
Another possible solution would be what Dark Souls did, where the heavier armor you wear the slower you run, dogdge, and the slower your endurance recovers. Obviously they are two different games so there could be other limitations
No… theives don’t need to be buffed. Fix the other classes first. A thief is a solid class already so stop trying to add more to it.
Honestly it’s not a horrible idea, the only thing I don’t like is it’s punishing the winning team for winning.
There would have to be some other type of benefit for the team ahead that’s not relevant to PvP. Like maybe a 10% xp & karma boost for their server. That way they are being rewarded at the same time.
I see two main reasons for crafting right now. Gaining XP and being able to make legendary weapons.
If/Until Anet decides to change things, that will be it.
Wow, you have some seriously wrong misunderstandings of economics. Yes, you are losing the potential of the money. You aren’t actually losing the money, considering you never had it in the first place.
I understand the concept that time is money, however considering nobody is paying me to play guild wars2, my time is as valuable as I choose to make it.
If you want to get technical, which I can tell you’re trying to and that’s cute, you aren’t even thinking about the xp that you gain from crafting. That is also money, however you can’t ‘buy’ straight xp.
Profiting is also considered gaining bonus. You can profit from a mistake, as in you gain knowledge. Some people might just straight enjoy crafting, so they are profiting from the fun of it.
However, back to the original profiting of money (gold, silver, etc.) both are profitable. Just because one action will make you more money than other, doesn’t mean that the first option isn’t profitable. I could go make a pie and sell it for 2 dollars above material and time cost, or I could sell it for 5 dollars above material and time cost. Both will get me a profit, one is more profitable than another.
As much flaming as this OP is getting, I kinda see his point. There is a large (LARGE) step between getting full exotics and getting a legendary item. You can farm/grind for gear and be done in about a week. Or you can farm/grind for legendary in be done in 3 months. There’s no middle ground.
Although I do also understand everybody else that has a problem with the OP. This game is a lot more about skill than getting lucky or who can grind for 10-12 hours a day. I think GW2 has a lot more people, like me, who can only play 1 to 2 hours a day. We don’t feel like we are at a disadvantage because our skill and awareness is a lot more important than how long we can grind a dungeon.
I would rather see mounts with a 33% speed boost (not usable in sPvP/WvW)
Okay, then salvage them. Go buy 15/20 rares (whatever you can afford), salvage all of them and sell the ectos. As long as the pieces are under 22/23s you should make a profit. The price will change, but then most likely ectos will too, so they will keep eachother in balance.
@ Maxster False. That directly means that crafting can be profitable, just not as profitable as something else.
Gathering materials and crafting might make you 10s, but gathering materials and selling them might make you 20s.
Both are profitable, one is more profitable.
You only lose money if you buy items that are more expensive than what you sell. You do however lose ‘potential’ money. But if you gather the materials, you’re still gaining more than what you spent, because you only bought gathering supplies.

Seems like you should just ask for easy mode… which is what GW2 already is.
I made it for point 3 or 4 before I stopped reading, so i apologize if I missed something later on.
I don’t want all gear up to my level. What if I’m 80 and farming jute scraps. I won’t be able to get any. Yes I could roll a new character, but he wont be as well equipped as my main.
Events shouldn’t be the same karma level in all regions. It’s much much easier (even though you’re downgraded) in lower levels because you have the armor/gear stats. Events in Orr need more people to be successful where I’ve done events in low levels with 1 or 2 other people.
I roll with a water ele when I want to heal, because I’ve been playing ranger and/or healer in all my mmos.
The only issue right now is it’s hard to see somebody’s health. It would be nice to have an option to turn on allie health bars so you can know when to pop healing rain instead of just saying… well, it’s been about 30 seconds, their health might be low.
Why are gathering items soulbound? Account bound would be nice...

Other people have suggested have slots for each level, and the game automatically uses the right tool, or being able to sell the items back for a pro-rated price to a vendor.
I would prefer the first one, which would clear up the issue and inventory problems.
After we finish the personal storyline we should be able to charm Zhaitan =)
@Painking Sorry can’t use quote on this thread for some reason. I thought you were arguing that crafting is profitable. I guess it can be profitable but not as much as just selling the mats.
If you assume that ectos have an equal chance of giving 3,2,1, or 0 (we would need confirmation or tests) then you have, on average, a chance of making 24 silver per gear you salvage (w/ Ectos @19s ea) which includes the 15% fee. You can add in the cost of salvage kits but it would be negligible.
I’ve done enough for it to seem like they are all equal chances. So as somebody stated earlier, if you can sell it for more than 28silver (remember 15% fee) then I would sell it. If it’s around 27s or less, I would salvage it.
I have a feeling you’re confusing the anti-farming mechanism with ‘not being allowed to’
BL kits definitely aren’t 100%. I’ve only done 9 pieces, but I’ve gotten 3 ectos from 3, 1 ecto from 3, and zero ectos from 3.
Obviously not a large sample but just giving some info.
@Painking Except for selling those materials would net you more of a profit (in most cases)
It would be convenient to add a true auto-loot in PvE. However it’s almost necessary to add it for WvW. If you’re running with the zerg or chasing people, you get one kill and have a split second to spam F to pick it up.
I try to spam F sometimes on the run when I know I’m about to kill something, but sometimes it talks to the NPC and messes up the combat.
It’s not game-breaking, just slightly annoying.
is there any way to craft unique/rare gear in the higher levels?
or must all the gear be bought/picked up from dropsim just asking for reference in the future
The only way to get the ‘top-end’ legendary gear is to craft it. However, that takes a very long time and is mostly visual.
You can craft rare and exotic gear at high levels (400) of crafting. Unfortunately right now the majority of the items have a higher raw material cost than finished good.
Find her a good aoe weapon/skill. I think the guardian scepter bounces between enemies right? A lot of people have found the best aoe skills to get the most they can out of events.
I read through the list but didn’t read any of the comments. Can we add on obstruction and out of range bugs/glitches. With out of range it seems like there is a large delay from when I come in range to when it registers me in range. As for obstruction there seem to be invisible arrow proof walls (I have on piercing arrows)
Any chance you could get a video of this? I’m not entirely sure what the issue is!
I can see what I can do. Also I noticed last night my pet still had incredibly loud footsteps, which went away when I swapped to another pet. I know they said they fixed this but this was after the update (I also submitted an in-game ticket)
ANet has an anti-farming policy which means the more you kill of a certain mob, the less drops you will get from it. So if you just kill Jotun for 2 hours, you will get more drops in the first 30 minutes than you would in the last 30 minutes.
The thing about mobs giving more xp the longer they have been alive is different. I think this encourages people to go out and farm (for XP) on other mobs. Some games have a very typical farming location where everybody goes to get drops and good xp. I think Anet’s intent is to make everything viable to be farmed, but not for too long.
Lewis pretty much nailed it all. The one thing I would like to add is that I changed 7-A, 8-D, 9-C, and Elite – z. It’s okay right now but my main thing is I need to break the habit of using A/D to turn when I’m not using my mouse.
I’ve seen people do this with Q, E,R, but I strafe a lot more (in kiting) than when I turn.
