To the OP, you do know that Anet stated server transfers would cost gems and would have a 2 week waiting, however not from the start of the game?
If this is just because you want to play with 2 groups of friends, note that you will have to choose
Ex
They also stated guesting would be an implemented function in which you could play with friends on any server at any time (excluding WvW).
If you want to rush to 30 then do hearts and events that are 1 to 2 levels above you. Don’t get map completion, just skip straight to the higher level stuff. Gather items and craft a bit as you go, so that you can get levels from that.
If you want to enjoy the game for everything it is, then explore every single part of the map and gather everything, participate in every event and do every heart.
Then make it a WvW delay, not a PvE delay. Which is precisely the subject of this thread.
I don’t understand why every moron on the internet has to post something stupid that argues against a reasonable point. Your suggestion is valid and doesn’t harm anybody, yet people feel the need to argue against a rational suggestion. Oh internet, what a cold hearted kitten.
then it’s your friends’ problem that they dont want to play together, not anet’s.
Did i mention this is the only mmo out there with free transfer to any servers? if it’s not enough, then it isn’t the company’s problem that your friends don’t want to play on the same server.
Anet is making it my problem my restricting world transfers and not implementing the promised guesting feature.
You did mention that. I guess you don’t quite have the reading comprehension to understand what I meant when I said it’s only that way because guesting hasn’t been implemented into the game yet.
My friend does want to play on the same server, his other friends don’t. And as somebody has already mentioned other games do have it.
If it’s a damage field put it on the mob, boon/bonus field put it on allies. Nuff said
The current restriction means that people cannot play with their friends on different worlds, not realistically.
I have a friend on an EU world and we no longer play together: both of us belong to a guild on our local world and play with them primarily, but sometime we are online when none of the others. Before the restriction, we would switch worlds, play for a few hours, and switch back. That’s not possible anymore, if we also want to play with our guild during their normal play time.
Since WvW matches last a week, why not make the restriction apply for 72 hours just to WvW (and Power of the Mists). That allows PvE people to continue as if there was guesting in place, but prevents people from chasing advantages in WvW.
it’s call joining the same server with your friends.
gw2 is the only mmo out there that allows you to switch server at your will without any cost. In other mmos you will have to pay to transfer server.
Instead of thanking anet, you guys complain how you can’t hop between 20 servers in a day without restriction.
guesting is coming. Wait for it, or transfer to your friend’s server.
i thought people complaining about wp hop cost was ridiculous… then i see people actually complain they can’t server hop now… what the kitten….
GW2 only allows free world transfers because guesting isn’t an option yet. When guesting goes live, I’m sure they will give like a week’s notification before they start charging money for changing servers.
You can’t always play with your friends. I’m on a server with about 5/6 of my friends. One of my friends is on a server with 4/5 of his friends. Neither of our friends want to change servers.
They removed a solution that the players had to participate in to band-aid fix a different issue.
I haven’t done sPvP much. Once or twice when I was a noob (er…. when i was more noobish). Can’t you wear accessories in sPvP?
I was originally going condition damage because I love flanking around and getting those high bleeds. The more I’ve read and the more I have tried it out I will probably spec for crit.
Not a huge deal but I do support this. I would much rather see other stuff fixed (class bugs, crafting prices, wps) but I would love to turn the xp bar off (visually)
Something that is kinda similar would be the elementalist utilities where they spawn weapons. Not exactly shapeshifing (which would be interesting) but you can switch combat styles easily (bow, axe, sword, etc)
I agree completely. The game encourages movement anywhere from being downleveled to you can play with friends to anti-farming policies for staying in one spot to farm. Yet you’re punished for doing what they encourage you to do.
Especially the storyline. Oh I hate teleporting across map for a minute long cutscene of a mission briefing only to spend 3 more silver to teleport back to where I just came from.
Then don’t teleport. Walk. Do an event or two along the way. That’s what ANet want you to do.
Read my whole post before you comment next time. kthxbai

It’s lunch time so I was getting hungry, but Stice’s sweet delicious post filled with sarcasm filling has filled me up. +1 sir
I read the post and saw where it says crafting isn’t meant to be profitable. So what is it meant to do? Craft legendary? My legendary shoots rainbows and has a flippin pony on it, no thanks. Give me xp? Cool trick till I’m 80, then i don’t care.
I enjoy gathering my stuff and building my own gear to make money. I don’t like to do it to lose money.
I read through the list but didn’t read any of the comments. Can we add on obstruction and out of range bugs/glitches. With out of range it seems like there is a large delay from when I come in range to when it registers me in range. As for obstruction there seem to be invisible arrow proof walls (I have on piercing arrows)
I like sylvari. Role playing wise it makes sense that somebody who communes with a pet and has a nature feel to it should be born of a tree =)

Piercing Arrows, use it. You’ll be begging for as many people possible to get in your way.
Now if they would only fix the obstruction and out of range when I’m about 500 (yards? Meteres? feet?) away.
Yep, yawg is spot on. That plus the listing fee and 10/15% (forget how much) cut they take on in-game TP transactions… it’s keeping the poor poor =)
I think everybody here is missing the point.
Grimah isn’t complaining that his payment is being denied. It seems that he is complaining that even though he has spent over 600+ (600 what? Dollars? Euros? Yen? Gold bars?) there wasn’t a thank you (even though there is) for him spending a lot of money and being a valued customer.
In my opinion this is a separate issue. They might not be looking at your history when dealing with denied payments so don’t expect a “customer of the year award” when your payments are being denied.
the TP cut is there even for rough materials. you cannot compare sell and buy prices.
Yes, but as the buyer you don’t care about the profit of the seller. Only what it cost to buy it.

It seems that everybody who is crafting has one major complaint: The only true reward to crafting is making your own legendary weapon. Seeing as I use short bows and hate ponies (really…. really?) that isn’t enough reward for me. I know the game is still brand spanking new in MMO terms, so I’m sure the prices of raw mats and products will level out eventually.
One thing that I haven’t seen suggested that I would love to see, is an extra reward for the act of crafting. Yes I know that you get xp from it, but as a level 80 I don’t really care that much about getting another skill point.
An example would be, when crafting rare materials (tier6) give a 5% chance to gain an ectoplasm. When crafting lower levels give say, a 10% chance in a discovery to get a 1-5 stack of fine crafting materials. Maybe in that same level when refining, give a 3% chance to obtain 1-10 stack of leather, jute, metal, wood, etc.
Obviously this is just a general idea and a lot would need to be ironed out so that people don’t abuse the system (just doing 100s of refining to get ectoplasms).
What do you guys think? Do you like this idea? Do you have any suggestions to build on it or change it? I wouldn’t want anything ‘game breaking’ that would force non-crafters to feel like they have to craft.
I agree with pretty much everything said. Especially the part about LOTRO crafting. I spent a lot of time/money being max chef and made a killing profit off food. I see two issues right now
1) The game just came out so a lot of people are still leveling through crafting. That means the items are in high demand (raw mats) and the product are in high supply (finished goods).
2) This issue is more with the TP. The quickest way to match the highest buyer (which is stupid in my opinion) or to match the lowest seller. Now if somebody wanted to mess with the market, they could easily put 1 piece of jute for the vendor price, say 7c, while there are 1000s of jute at 20c (just guessing). Now this will be quickly bought, but if somebody else goes to sell they will see the 7c price, and probably not realize it’s only 1 person selling, so they match 7c. If the timing works out that enough people match/sell before people buy them off the market, the price will drop down to 7c and most likely stay there.
One suggestion is to give a random chance of a rare item when crafting. So everytime you craft an item you would have a 1% of getting say… ectoplasm (for high tiers) or maybe 4/5 weakbloods for lower tiers. Obviously you would have to change the reward and percentage based on the level of crafting and which item (so that people don’t just refine items to exploit the percentage)
(edited by Ethics.4519)
changes I would like to see : out of range and obstruction bugs.
/End
Also just a heads up, if you have two of any armor/weapon smithing one you will be severely hindered by the fact they both require fine crafting materials. If you are serious about crafting (getting to max level or using for xp) then I highly recommend having cooking or jeweling as the second craft profession. That way you don’t double up on supplies (except for some metals in jewelery)
You mean like game updates on a forum…. if only there were a place. Hmmmm…..
As for the rest it’s just exploration. Oh look a purple asura gate, lets go in!
I agree with this post.
Although I’m a condition ranger, I just pew pew and get gold
Option to "Turn off experience gain" for gathering/crafting, etc.

Why? What’s the point?
“A good Ranger is never hampered by their pet.”
I went to go revive somebody just outside of the aggro range of a veteran at an event where EVERYBODY died. I called my pet by my side while I revived. He walked 3/4 paces in front of me and aggroed the veteran causing me to reduce my revive rate. The pet died, veteran was no closer and started attacking me killing me.
I’m pro stow-lock.
I’m with Pan on this one. I haven’t done any testing, but I’m mainly using mith tools when I’m not in ore and I get more ore/gems etc than I ever did using level appropriate tools.
Just level up. As somebody mentioned it’s not very hard after 50/60+.
Also they used to have a bug, maybe they still do, where it would reset for leaving zones.
I’m happy with my ranger and his kiting ability. There are only a couple aoes with my set up of Lbow & Sbow. But you could easily go with axe to peg 3 people at a time. Also find pets that have aoe damage like Merellow’s poison cloud. I also use the aoe elite + traps to tag as many mobs as possible.
Oh and piercing arrows ftw.
I just hit 80 and I’ve mostly been doing personal storyline stuff in orr, so this will lack a lot of information. There is one vendor in a temple I think somehwere in malchor’s leap. There are a couple of events that you have to do followed by downing a boss, then you can use the vendor. I can’t quite remember if the vendor sells rare or exotic, but each piece costs 42K karma.
Sorry this post is lacking but hope it helped a little bit…
When you have mystic forge recipes that require two stacks of 250 items, why are things being limited to 250?
I think there are two fixes. Obviously the first one is to increase the drop rate of FCMs. It’s ridiculous, and the more you try to farm the lower the drop rate goes, which requires you to farm more, which lowers the drop rate more (Anybody see a cycle?)
The other one that I haven’t seen mentioned (I didn’t read ALL the comments) is to increase the stats of crafted materials. Right now most people are getting their gear from drops. My toon leveled up way faster than my crafting did so I’m level 80 making level 30 armor. Talk about a freakin waste.
I absolutely love crafting and the crafting system that ANet has, but there has to be something down about this drop rate.
You have a few things to consider here. If you got huntsman and leatherworker then you are overlapping on fine crafting materials, which it’s hard enough trying to get enough FCM for one profession, much less two (Darn you chocolate and butter!). Although if you want a legendary then you would need these two to get a bow (not sure on the other melee ones)
I went with leatherworker and jewel crafter (as a ranger). I did this because I figured if I went with huntsman I would only be making one or two pieces of my equipment. However, with leatherworker I’m making at least 5 pieces of my equipment, add in jewel crafting and I’m making another 5 pieces of my equipment. Unfortunately with leatherworker I out leveled my craft so I ended up just using drops anyway.
I hope this helps, whatever you choose you can’t really go wrong (unless you pick armorsmithing and tailoring). But the great thing is it is easy to change!
I’m not sure but it would be nice. I mean you can party with people and then you will know. I would definitely be interested in this option because I have an ele that I want to focus on water/healing (I miss being a priest/healer sometimes)
I use Longbow & greatsword combo. They are both great for burst damage 1v1 and also aoe against mobs. I’m going for power and precision right now, but the shortbow is great for condition damage too (lots of bleeding).
As others have said, you can’t go wrong (as long as you don’t use the 1h). I would try out longbow&greatsword combo, then maybe shortbow & axe/warhorn combo and see which one you like better.
