I’m with bettadenu. The last thing the warriors need is a buff. You should just be happy where you are.
My suggestion would be to pick a class and stick with it. It’s cool to try out different classes to find what you like, but eventually you might need to pick one. You are probably struggling with the skills right now because you don’t have your skills set into your muscle memory. Once you find two weapons you like and a class you like, you’ll only need to memorize 10 weapon skills (assuming you’re not ele). If you don’t get the hang of it you will be kittening yourself.
My other suggestion, pick a warrior with rifle/GS and use all signets for your utility and elite =)

HS combo w/ blindness field grants stealth. You’re only staying in stealth so long because you aren’t hitting. If you were actually playing instead of in an invuln spot with a friend, then stealth would pop when you hit.
So again, what’s your point?
He might have had another stealth stolen from a thief.. In that case he probably used haste to execute it fast.. Only explanation comming to my mind atm
That’s my thinking too. You can see he used steal right after the backstab(s) so it would make sense that he used whatever stolen ability he has just before.
But I’m not sure if the stealth debuff is quickened with haste? It would be hard to believe OP used no skills for 4-5 seconds.
My favorite skills are f1 and 1 w/ the shortbow. I press f1, press 1 3 seconds later, then go get a beer.
What I can say is that water/arcane D/D Elementalist is in a pretty good place right now, and I think my video and experience is more than enough proof of that.

I agree with Creslin. Now there are 2 data points. If you’re being all ‘statistical’ then you can’t tell a person that his opinion doesn’t count because it’s just one person’s opinion. The way we gain consensus is to gather everybody’s “one person” opinion. Why the hell are you getting so upset about this. You don’t like the ele cuz of X, I like the ele because of Y. Oh and that little buff to warrior longbow after we’ve been speaking out about the ranger longbow and shortbow was a slap to the face, that needs to be addressed as well.
Don’t forget about the projectile speed increase to engineer grenades, which is what 99.9% of the ranger community wants for the longbow.
Same is ok, in fact, just by doing difficulties 1 and 2 (3+3+bonus) you’ll get your monthly done. Could be over in less than 2 hours =)

Anyway, to OP, yes, you can do the same one. You can do all of them in level 1 if you really wanted to. I did mine 2 or 3 at a time depending on how fast my PUG fell apart.

That’s not a month of grinding. You could easily get 2 chests a day. If you don’t play everyday and consider yourself ‘casual’ then just be happy with exotic gear.

I still love this game, but I do feel disappointed in some aspects. I have always been a ranger/archer class with a bow because that’s what I love. Ironically I was an ele in GW1 and switched over to a ranger. Now I start as a ranger and switch over to an ele. Getting into sPvP a little bit more, these posts are kinda sad.

I love seeing thieves when I’m on my ele. I start salivating and contemplating which victory dance I will do.

If Ele can’t compete with any other profession in the game…then tell me, why is it that I can beat just about any other player 1v1 with my D/D Ele?
Anecdotal evidence like this doesn’t tell us much about the profession as a whole. That’s why it doesn’t matter whether you do well with the Ele at your level of play. Just as it wouldn’t mean anything if I were to say I never win sPvP as an Ele, it doesn’t mean anything if you say you always win sPvP as an Ele. Data points are almost completely meaningless when taken individually.
I agree, but he’s simply voicing his opinions, which is exactly what this forum is for. OP is saying there are problems with the ele. If everybody agreed then maybe some Devs would read it and think about it. People like Creslin and myself are disagreeing with OP to let the Devs know that there are people who like the ele and where it is right now in relation to other classes. Overall I think rangers and necros are the most broken, but the other 6 seem somewhat well balanced.
Granted that’s getting a little off topic.

It seems like Anet has a very set mind on what the ele should be and maybe people seem to make it work. If you want weapon swapping and no attuenments I would suggest 6 of the other 7 professions.

This is not about you Creslin and about your selfclaimed god playing elementalist.:-). This is about the majority who hasn’t found a tiny niche in the elementalist build – the only one that works for fairly good dps. They want fun without having to study the profession for 2 weeks first because of what might work and which won’t. People are unhappy with the class because of what I already wrote above whether you like it or not. Being personal doesn’t make your argument stronger.
I kinda understand where you are coming from, but I don’t see it as big of an issue. The ele can play a couple different play styles with different weapons very well. They can burst like thief, they can be bunker like a guard, or they can support like a… like an elementalist?
Somebody said they wanted ranged high sustainable dps…. well, that doesn’t really exist in this game. You say you want an easy class that you can just pick up and not really think about. That’s exactly what sbow rangers complain about (along with 1000 other things).

I think a more realistic suggestion would be to allow weapon swapping in combat on a much longer cooldown. What’s the standard cool down? 10s? I would like to see eles have a 1m or 2m CD. That way if you’re running d/d and you come up to a keep, you can swap with your staff instead of running 300m away to an area with no mobs and waiting till you get out of combat, going into your hero screen and switching to staff.
I disagree with a lot of this post because I absolutely love my ele and feel OP as a bunker build in sPvP. I also have an 80 ranger and 80 thief and right now my ele is my favorite in functionality and gameplay.
I do agree with you on the weapon swapping though. Sure you can do it out of combat. But you press h, look for your weapon, attach it, switch to the att you want, use the skill (#4 lightning speed boost most likely), switch back to your dagger, oh wait click your other one too, and bam, you have no clue where you are anymore.
I’d love to see a weapon swap for eles that were on a much longer cooldown than other classes. Give eles a 2 minute cooldown, 3 minute cooldown, I don’t really care, as long as you can switch with a press of one button in combat at least once.

People always have the right to refuse. If somebody goes out of their way to help me, I usually try to start a chat and befriend them. Afterwards depending on how long I’ll mail them a thank you note with 10s or so. They always have the right to return to sender and politely decline.
What a great drunken post. My first toon was an 80 ranger. He’s so broken it’s ridiculous. It’s as if my legs are broken, I go to the doctor and he says “Well, your arm is too strong so I’m going to break that too. Oh your legs? Yeah I’ll get that next visit”
I rolled a thief who is now level 80. I love the thief. I’m not the build of the month. I roll with more of a very select condition damage build that’s used in my W3 group. He’s getting a little old because the gameplay is relatively similar. Dstorm in a zerg, pew pew w/ the shortbow while looking for stragglers to go harass.
My elementalist is level 32 right now and I’m absolutely in love with her. Yes, sometimes my girlfriend gets jealous. I agree with everything the OP said. I did my first sPvP run yesterday. A couple of games in I kinda knew what to do. I was owning the other teams treb with a warrior, theif, and ranger on my tail. Finished off the treb and played with them for a minute or so before they finally killed me. Afterwards was a great feeling when I see “ kitten ele” in chat =)
I wanted to come on and add that true autoloot needs to be added, so I searched first and I’m surprised that there aren’t as many threads as I thought there would be.
I definitely agree. It’s very aggravating, especially in WvW. Many times I’ll see xp pop up and instantly start spamming F, but it seems there’s a short delay and this almost never works. I have to stop or turn around.
Normally I don’t care about dying, but when I die and I look and see bags of loot around me I hate it.

I wanted to add in on the underwater fractal (not sure on the name) where you free the first 3 prisoners, two kraits got stuck above us and we couldn’t free the last prisoner to advance. Ranged attacks weren’t hitting, as they were giving obstructed errors. I believe some team members got some melee attacks on but it seemed to be about 50/50.

I think he’s assuming that you start on odd. Because technically if you start at lvl 1 you do 3 rounds, then go up to lvl 2 and do another 3 rounds. You get a ‘bonus’ round which I believe is the Jade Maw. I have yet to find a solid a group who can stay together for two hours and my guild is way past level 1 so I don’t really have the experience to back that up. Just from what I’ve read
I agree. I don’t understand why they limit the effects of healing rain, shadow refuge, etc. to 5 people yet mesmer can still port in their entire zerg.
I feel like this would be relatively easy to code. After 10 ports (whether it’s the same person or not) the portal ends.
I think a better solution would be to force a dead player after a certain time if no allies are within range.
This would cure your issue, and also the issue of dead players staying to scout. Yes it’s a tactic, but it’s kinda unfair as there is nothing your side can do, other than leave that area.
Just keep in mind that cooking will absolutely destroy your banking/inventory slots. Unless you plan to just crank out 1-400 all at one time.

I think dstorm is pretty OP, but that’s when it’s used in conjuction with other people’s skills/elites, so I guess stand alone it isn’t exactly most OP skill ever.
It’s an MMO. Middle M stands for multiplayer. Why does everybody want to play MMOs solo? It’s nice they designed some solo content, but really, what’s the point of playing an MMO without the community aspect. Just play dragon age or some single player RPG.
I mainly use sbow & lbow. Sbow is my main, but then in certain situations I’ll switch lbow, use the #2, #5, then #2 again (3 & 4 if the situation calls for it), then switch back to my sbow.
Another popular weapon set is axe & warhorn. Very good against 2 to 3 mobs, horrendous against 1.
Buffing the Ranger profession for WvW/sPvP would make the Ranger insanely better than other profs. in PvE. That would just swing a separate pendulum too far imo.
I believe the majority of the ranger community would agree with you. However all we’re asking is that the class works as intended. Bad arrow AI and horrible pet mechanics (I hope to god Anet did not intend this) is what’s breaking this class.

Lol, so true. But to OP, if the skill starts or channels before stealth is applied, then it will continue to hit. Keep in mind stealth doesn’t mean invuln. Also, there is a thing called client/server lag. Just because you instantly pop stealth doesn’t mean it’s recognized by the server.
Well it certainly is a step between legendaries. at least 55 for crafted exotics, 300 for infused ascended stuff, ~500 for legendaries :P
But I think people are so upset because legendaries were always sold as being about the skin. There are slightly better stats, yes, but nothing gamebreaking. Plus, most people really only go for one legendary, maybe two if they are trying to get eternity (that’s the combined GS right?). However, with ascended gear it IS clearly better stat wise and to stay competitve you will have to have it. Right now it’s only accessory/backpacks, but soon it will be armor. Which will be 11 pieces rather than 4 max (assuming somebody has time to make 4 legendaries and dual wield both weapon sets)

Agreed. I find it bad enough LFG X dungeon Explorable. Now they made it 20 times worse because there are different levels! Most people want to their max difficulty so that they keep going up, therefore you have to find 5 people in your overflow or guild that are on the same difficulty as you.
It was even worse over the weekend because people would kick you for being less than 80 even though these are only hard if you aren’t communicating, not really the damage.

Funny, but it will probably be infracted for trolling. I got ‘infracted for trolling’ by posting the “hitler reacts to GW2 Nov 15th patch” video.
Anyway, I’m still just trying to hold out hope for this patch. The more I play my ranger the more I see some use it in. We got to the legendary fire elemental in fractals lvl2 and we were at 3/5 (one person had to leave and 1 person’s kid ran them into the fire while they were afk lol). The other 2 died (mesmer and guardian) so I took onto myself to see how long I could last. Between sbow #3, my dodges, elite healing and aoe healing, I lasted about 10-15 minutes and was able to rez the mesmer before getting bored and leaving the instance. Granted I did about 5% damage lol.
In WvW we also have good support skills. I run thief in a small party that likes to utilize differe professions, and the ranger’s entagle is pretty critical. Not too mention barrage for fleeing zergs.
Side Note: I used my underwater spirit (frost? I think) and it still only gave 35%. Isn’t it supposed to be 50%?
Every MMO has classes that excel 1v1 and other classes that excel 20v20. Don’t expect an ele to be able to own every class 1v1 when you have meteor shower to blast huge zergs or keeps.
I have a theif, but I also have a ranger and working on an ele. Once you play a theif you realized that there is less stealth options than you might think (If you don’t own one) and you have to think ahead a little more or strategize.
Um… no? I didn’t get a precursor, I got all crap. However, I still spent 2-3 hours each event for those rewards, why should they just be deleted?
The also already posted a message that said they would look into DCs but calm the hell down because it’s a lot of work.
They felt shortbow did to much damage with QS so they nerfed the damage.

Can you sit there and honestly say the new SB+QZ is only SEVEN PERCENT slower than the new SB+QZ? People did testing in the mega thread, IIRC its about 15% slower or more than the old
The shortbow is 7% slower, so it attacks at 93% of its original speed. QZ doubles your attack speed. 93%*2 = 186%, 14% slower than it was before the nerf.
Unless they said it’s 7% slower with QZ, of course.
Except not quite – attack speed doesn’t affect the fact that it’s 7% either way.
Suppose that before the change you attack 100 times in 4 seconds, and with QZ 200 times in 4 seconds. After the nerf, 93 times in 4 seconds versus 186 with QZ.
93/100 = 186/200 = 93%.
Whatever people in the “megathread” said, I’d take with a grain of salt. It is not at all guaranteed that most/any of them had data from before the change to compare with.
The only issue with this math is that the bug with QZ is that the 40ms addition stays at 40ms, it does not get reduce to 20ms with QZ. Therefore if you assume you shoot 100 arrows in 4 secs (I wish) you would expect QZ to make it 200 arrows in 4 secs. However, people have tested it, and in reality it would shoot about 180 in 4 secs.
I’m just rolling with the numbers you provided, so obviously they aren’t accurate. It’s supposed to shoot AROUND 16 arrows in that 4 seconds, but it tends to be around 12-13 because of the 40ms staying 40ms.

Maybe they’ll fix it so that it works 100% of the time underwater and 10% of the time on land.
They need to make 3 usable before 4. I start to self-heal then stupidly stop that to use the pet heal, which as you guys already know does nothing. Now I just interrupted my self-heal and put it on cd so my pet can pee on me.

Warriors:
- Rifle damage increase 15%
- Rifle attack distance increased to 1800
Rangers:
- fixed a bug in longbow that didn’t allow the AI of arrows to track properly. Ranger longbow distance has now been decreased to 600
- Fixed the AI with pets. There are no more pets. Ranger damage has been decreased 50% to compensate.
I think he is saying that the handle looks uncentered from the rest of the greatsword. I put up a dark red line for the center of the greatsword, then extended a small line where the handle would go.
The extra brown blob by the handle (not sure what to call it) shifts the center of the greatsword which is most likely why the designer put the handle to the right of central.

This is a joke right? The nerfs weren’t even that bad. I have a ranger, theif, and an ele (I did play warrior for a bit but it was too boring). I felt most OP on my theif so I can’t really understand why there is so much QQ after this patch. I understand that it does suck to go week after week getting nerf, but when you start out that OP it’s bound to happen.
Put yourself in the shoes of the ranger, waiting week after week to bet your class stuff fixed and nothing happens. You get a buff to underwater combat which you were already OP in (which is garbage because nobody fights there)
I think the only thing that the ranger community feels is working or OP about a ranger is underwater. What gets the highest buff? underwater combat. Seems legit.
Most of the naysayers to more progression are casuals correct? Also, if a few million bought this game and only a few thousand are upset then very well could be most of you are in the minority.
This game will lose concurrent players without more progression. You literally have to play an hour a week at best and still hit 80 in a month with full exotics. WvW is stale in current form, Spvp is near dead and the current dungeons are boring zergfests with no reward drops. There is hardly anything to do.
They want more then a niche like GW1 was, but I bet it’s gonna be just that without making more things to do that take time to,get. This isn’y Bf3 or CoD, it’s an MMO…make it one.
