I personally find the current situation hilarious. Be as it may, BG just needs to do to JQ what it did in the SoS matchup last week.
Don’t attack TC, just go all out on JQ. Only fight TC when they push into your territory.
TC has crappy PuG discipline, and eventually they’ll attack JQ; and problem solved.

Now quit these embarrassing posts or xfer to a server that doesn’t tick the others off so much that they get 2v1’d every week.

Man, that answer is so simple. Why hasn’t BG tried that. It’s almost like reality and theory aren’t the same thing.

“We really like where the player base is right now, it actually hasnt dropped a significant amount and as of today it is very healthy” -Anet lead designers

ME: yea thats why you put the mega server cause there is just sooooo many ppl

Lol, I was pretty cynical too. I took the mega server, plus the fact that those trait changes were free for ONLY that day in the gem store, as a PR stunt. A month from now they’re going to say “We have X million people log on everyday” when in reality it’s that one day from patch day where they advertised free items for just that day.

Same issue here. Had 941 on main and 100+ on a few others. All characters show 941.

Just curious, have you logged into all your toons, let them load into a map (not sure if it has to be a WvW map or not, but I would log into WvW before switcing to your next toon) then try your main again?

My other thought is, if somehow it bugs out after 1000 rank?

The “zerker” only groups will now be much more strict.

You have less room for error. Say a guild group with 4 people (all zerker, optimized build) used to run dungeons in a certain time frame, they could just add a 5th of whatever (cleric guardian most likely) and just carry him. Now that they got nerfed, that 5th person NEEDS to be zerker to make up for the nerf.

The better idea would have been to stop hating on the most efficient build, and embrace it.

Megaserver and open/closed dungeons

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

alternative way of thinking about it…

The Citadel of Flame event… With the mega server there will actually be more people on the map again. if for no other reason than they want to see if they can get into the dungeon. allowing more people to do the event to get in. Which takes all of 10 min.

did you know that you make more gold off the event than you do running the dungeon?

especially if there is a group there and the event scales…

Dungeons are different than open world farming. If an individual wants to pve world farm, then there are better locations for it.

People are forced to do that event to enter in the dungeon, I think specifically due to the lore.

PvP is always open, WvW is always open (other than Queues which is a different nature) yet some dungeons require mandatory dynamic events.

I think my eye cancer just skipped straight to terminal.

Hurry, stack and you’ll be saved from the eye cancer!

Quickly show me your 20 player zerg in a dungeon.

Yes dungeons are different than regular PvE, and need to be balanced differently but generally every player in a dungeon has an idea of what they’re doing. Fix the main PvE zerging mentality and you fix the dungeons. Besides that at some points in some dungeons the number of mobs are arguably way too kittening many (Like 4 out of all the dungeons), nothing is wrong with most of them; it’s all the players.

If you don’t like my idea for a solution, and the current system is broken, by all means give me your better idea.

There have been many other suggestions presented, much better than yours, yet they get overlooked because the developers are super busy tweeting, writing short stories, making videos, and “looking into” things.

Did you know that sales means nothing when looking at activity? ESPECIALLY in a B2P model with no subscription.

Well, it’s the only measurable metric that’s released from ANet. If you can get actual usage history, please post it, otherwise your comment is pure hyperbole.

Please look up big words before you use them.

There is a reason that it’s the only measurable metric released from Anet. The only other thing I saw was number of players at peak-time, which I remember being right around launch.

I am not arguing for or against the decline of GW2, I am only stating that using sales to show the game isn’t ‘dead’ doesn’t mean much.

No wonder there’s no one, this game is dying… Even on Desolation, the biggest server, there are fewer people nowadays.

Why people continue to think this is beyond me….this boss has never been a draw, ever. Please see this from NCSoft’s earning report filed the beginning of this year:

Guild Wars 2 earned 33.6 Billion Won = 31.58 Million USD up from Q3s 22.94 Million USD and exceeding sales expectations for Q4

Trust me, this game is doing fine.

To the OP, I am really sorry you got that close, it is sad indeed though me thinks there was a bit of anger as well.

You’re always going to have those people that abuse the game mechanics, stacks and whatever.

Your ‘fixes’ wont actually do much. Anets fixes havent really been fixing it either.

Really a boss’s AOE should ignore the 5 player cap that players have (It’s fine to keep that limit on players), all damage should be buffed and then the amount that toughness reduces the damage should be buffed as well(As well as having a base level buff so toughness will make it so I can take more than 3 shots as opposed to 1 from a boss).

That will eliminate stacking and flush out the bad players that can’t dodge. The good players that can dodge effectively shouldn’t be punished because of the bad players.

All AOEs should become unblockable, so the only defense is to not be standing in them, as long as they arnt giant circles. Anet seems to like to balance reaction times around some sort of passive speed boosts that most classes have but as a main mesmer, I do not have such a thing and it’s unreasonable to ask me to give up my weapon swap for a speed boost.

That should solve the immediate problem of stacking and bad players counting on the stack to save them.

Heck maybe even give a player 15ish seconds after they’re defeated and if they no one starts reviving them, it instantly makes them waypoint to their nearest uncontested waypoint.

Finally PvP and PvE should be split, changes to one shouldn’t affect the other as changes to PvP can break PvE or the other way around.

Stacking saves nobody in dungeons.. This post is horrendous.

New players fail because they think the same as you do.

But handing out infractions rather than opening a dialog when their customers try to discuss issues with them is a terrible practice.

The two functions are going to be handled by separate staff.

Yep, mods != devs. The point is, both groups could be handling community dialog much, much better. Or at all, in the case of the specialized subforums (I know dungeons is a wasteland for sure, and I hear many of the others are similarly ignored).

Just look at the archived fractured update for all the evidence you need. And yes, dungeons thread fell into that fate along time ago, when Robert was let go. The only dev posts nowadays are joke necros of robert “looking into something” 6-7 months ago that still exists today.

At least half of the stuff mentioned are something players suggested one time or the next, and most of them are not minor.

We see this almost everytime. Then patch hits and half of it is implemented because they didn’t say it would be in the NEXT patch, just that it’s in the works….

PVT not viable for tagging mobs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ethics.4519

Ethics.4519

So I’ve noticed and correct me if I’m wrong but in bigger scaled Events where you have a lot of mobs attacking a Camp, if you go Soldier’s or anything else you’d get a lot less drops then if you wore Berserker’s? Is this correct?

I think if the Tagging System isn’t adjusted a bit, nothing other then Berserker’s will ever be viable in PvE, because basically we’re forced to do highest DPS to fill the criteria for our drops, or the other 20 Berserker’s will take our spot in the “DPS ladder” and we end up empty handed.

I don’t think Berserker’s is the problem, as the not-being-able-to-wear-anything-else if you want drops.

If you are fighting in small groups, this is not an issue. PvT would be better because of survivability.

But when you are fighting in a zerg, berserker gear will end up pushing you past the loot threshold to get credit.

But the above point doesn’t really become a factor anyway, considering there are other factors that influence your ability to get loot, such as party/grouping and DR.

I personally run zerker gear not only to ensure I do superior damage to get loot credit, but to kill mobs faster enough to spawn more waves, resulting in more loot.

yeah well the zerg usually melts down every mob no matter what gear (unless it’s an Elite or a Champion and those usually 1shot you if scaled) .

I also run Berserker’s most of the times, but at some days I wish I’d run a Cleric’s and still get drops as I do when I’m a Berserker but that isn’t happening. Funny thing, same goes for WvW and Loot/WXp, if you focus on supporting though well-placed combo fields, like Water and stuff like that while the zerklings pow-pow the aggressors you won’t get credit for your help, as you have to do enuogh-damage-to-fill-the-loot-criteria (and it isn’t just 1 hit)

Funny you mention that – I feel the exact same way with my Guardian in WvW trains.

The commanders always call out for blasts, and I really want to pull out the hammer. But when you are in combat, that removes some valuable seconds of tagging with staff, resulting in less loot.

I’m really selfish in WvW ;[

Heh aren’t we all, but we should be able to be rewarded even if we do 1 hit though. That way people won’t be so torn between reward vs help.

Going even further, loot at support/heal builds. I loved playing my staff ele in WvW. But if I want any chance at look I need to be in fire and only sometimes switching, instead of staying in water for the aoe heals.

I love the people commenting “1500 hours for 60 dollars” without stopping to think for even one second. There’s a gem store. Looking at ncsoft’s financial report tells us that Guild Wars 2 made a lot of dough through the shop. A lot. The OP could be one of those who purchased gems using cold hard cash instead of converting gold.

What should we tell to those who spent 300 dollars in the gem store? No, that’s not uncommon. 500 dollars? More than 1000? Are they allowed to complain about the longevity of the game? Or was their investment still a great bang for the buck?

Instead of jumping to conclusions and riding the “it’s only 60 dollars” train, how about you reflect on the issues that were brought up? Is WvW getting stale? Did the living story feel like a success to you? Is it fine that we are expected to wait long months for small fixes and balance patches?

Excellent point. I know the response is going to be “it’s cash shop so you didn’t HAVE to pay more than $60”.

ITT biased anecdotes are considered an acceptable replacement for statistical evidence.

They don’t provide nearly as much statistical evidence as they used to. The numbers they do report, usually copies sold, has little to no reflection on the numbers that currently still play.

Cash shop sales have a little more indication, but still nothing close to “hourly average playing” or anything like that. My guess is if the number was good, we would know it.

All that’s left are people’s feelings and anecdotes, so that’s what is mainly being described.

I agree. I haven’t completely left yet, but I’m on my way out.

Their silence and lack of communication is a core issue. The neglect of dungeons and focus on a crappy living story is another part.

Lack of communication? This the only MMO where devs actually get in game and play with the community. I have never seen devs care so much about their game as Arenanet does. You have entire CDI threads with the devs talking with the players trying to better the game. They pop up in every now and then on random threads just to let people know they are listening. Why people keep bringing up communication as a problem is beyond me.

Yes, they have CDIs. It’s mostly people giving suggestions or opinions, while the devs go “oh, interesting. I’ll talk to the team” And that’s usually about all you hear.

The fractals community was shot down during the fractured update, even though they were “gathering feedback”. And it ended exactly how we thought it would, the thread expired and we never heard any communication. During the CDI about progression we brought up this fact, and how resetting our levels was a slap in the face to progression. The dev said he would talk to the team and that was the end of it.

Obviously they do a good job of acting like they communicate, as they have fooled you.

“This the only MMO where devs actually get in game and play with the community” Also, this is just hilariously wrong. You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

The issue to me is that I seem to lack identity. I have never been an alt- aholik, until this game. I think that really stems from the fact that everything is a hybrid in this game. Every class has damage, every class has supports, every class control, etc. Obviously some do it better than others, but not by such a large margin that it’s necessary to play one class for that specific ability.

It’s obvious that a lot of people enjoy this. I even enjoyed it at first. But the game has definitely lost a lot of the luster it once had for me, which is why I find myself playing less and less, with little desire to play even though they shove laurels and daily cooldowns in my face.

Please also know that time gating is not awesome. It adds Psuedo playtime, and is downright annoying.

This was actually touched on very well by a dev response I saw earlier. The idea is that no time gating makes this game very hardcore, and the casual players would get fed up and leave. Extreme time gating would get frustrating for those hardcore players, or those with a lot of time, and all you would have left our casual players who don’t play often. GW2 tried to find a good mix of time gating, so that there is a wide range of players.

Although I hate it too, I understand why they put it in there. It’s one reason why the game is as successful as it is, because casual players and hardcore players flock to it. But it’s also a reason why I think it’s dying. It can only entertain those players times for so long, at the same time. The hardcore players start to feel like they can’t progress, or there is no real progression, while the casual players feel like they can’t keep up.

TL;DR IMO the game tries to cater to all player types, which is the reason it feels like intangible progression.

I would like to make a suggestion to Arenanet/NCSoft around the EU issues people have been having around tinet. A workaround for this, considering it is impacting multiple ISP’s is for NCSoft to drop their peering link to Tinet, this will then force traffic to re-route through an alternative route. I feel NCSoft also should put some pressure on Tinet to fix their problems. The far end ISP’s will have less of an influence over them than NCSoft who are their last hop before the data centre.

Support said I need to contact my ISP when this was brought up =(.

I have been experiencing serious lag issues for 3 straight days now. usually there is a second delay between pressing a button and something happening, also rubberbanding a lot, very frustrating, PVP is impossible, sometimes I experience 3-5 second spikes of lag where nothing happens, also affects party chat and browsing pvp servers. Everything outside of Guild Wars 2 works perfectly, browsing internet, streaming video, world of tanks etc. speed tests come back perfect, ping test to guildwars2.com at 58 ms. I live in Massachusetts and use Verizon FiOS and play on Blackgate server. Any help would be appreciated.

*update. My latency with Gw2.exe is about 300 in resource monitor. The other computer on my lan is not having the lag problem. I tried deleting Local.dat but it didn’t make any difference. The lag suddenly started while playing Sanctum Sprint.

This pretty well sums up with what’s been going on with me. My fiance plays with me on the same network and has similar issues, but nowhere near as extreme as mine is.

I just tested some other games and had no issues whatsoever, including FPS.

My guildie makes a joke that he was lagging before, and as soon as he stopped (a couple of days ago) I started getting it, like he passed me the virus.

If there’s any help or more information needed I’d be happy to oblige, as this completely lowers my desire to play.

Do you think this is an original idea? That it hasn’t been discussed before?

I’m with the OP. You can cleave and still damage somebody when they are invis, so why does being invisible make the stake miss? If you start a channeled skill (like lbow 2 on ranger) the attack hits even when the opponent becomes stealthed during the channel. However going with that then it would also have to change so aegis would protect staking and blinding would work as well. I’m not talking about balancing issues, because to me that’s outside the scope of what OP is discussing.

Also, for some reason I thought you were an engi as well. I guess when you said you were fighting an engi I just assumed you were one lol.

Since when bow is a trademark of rangers?

Unfortunately rangers read this description and just go with…..

“Ranger

Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation."

“rangers can adapt to any situation”

Aside from the speedrun meta. Maybe 0.5% can.

I would kick you too when I saw the axe, and be even more justified if I found you were running soldiers.

If it’s my party, I don’t want people wasting my time. I’d rather kick you at the beginning at the first sign (axe) then waste an hour wiping and kick you then, wasting much more of both of our time.

I know it’s convenient to lay blame on something that you can’t control, because if you put blame on something you could control, then you could only blame yourself.
