I just think they’re going to continue to not listen to us if we make unreasonable requests about this. I would rather see the people who worked hard to get a good reward than see us get something small and probably meaningless at their expense. I just don’t think that I, or anyone only in their 40s or below, can really complain. We aren’t really losing anything. We didn’t use res orbs, we didn’t go out of our way to stretch our skills to points where anet thought it impossible. They did. They deserve something for that.
That’s fine and that’s your opinion. It doesn’t mean my opinion is any less valued.
My time is valuable to me and I would like to see compensation for it. I also never stated that I should receive the same compensation at somebody at 80.
Old numerical Fractal level values =/= new numerical Fractal level values.
Different systems. The numbers don’t align anymore. It’s that simple.
It’s not that simple. What is your personal fotm level?
After reset. Anybody with fractals lvl 79 will have the exact same starting position as somebody with fractal lvl 30. There was no additional time, energy, effert, gold, or money needed to do that.
What about this?
It is completely contradictory:
On one hand: “I did high level fractals for the incredible challenge, even when I knew the rewards were lousy.”On the other hand" " I demand I be rewarded for all of the “work” and “money” I spent doing something I knew quite well had lousy rewards."
It’s almost like the player base is made up of different people with different backgrounds, opinions, and interests. Hmmm
Seeing that much ppl got to 50 on an exploitation that was fixed i think its ok to drop it down i am not sure about all the way to 30 but its still needed if your going to changes things up.
Then they should remove dungeon master and all gold + drops obtained from dungeons since a lot of people exploit dungeons.
I just don’t think that anet will consider it reasonable for every single person above 30 to get compensated as it isn’t impressive and doesn’t represent that much time spent.
Time is time regardless of how valuable you personally think it is.
Just because you think anet won’t consider it reasonable doesn’t mean the player base can’t ask for it.
Greetings all,
We’ve moved all the fractals change threads into one thread so the Dev Team can find all your feedback in one place. Please remember to stay on-topic and keep personal attacks against your fellow players and our staff off the thread.
Then can we get an answer?
1) Will 30+ be given compensation? Will 50+ be given extra compensation? What will it be?
2) Please explain what happens to infused backpieces. Was infusing it with 250 ectos a complete waste? If so, will those be given back?
If you remember not to remove topics just because they give negative Feedback.
Kthanks.
As long as it is respectful and doesn’t include violations of the Forum Code of Conduct, it won’t be removed.
The thread didn’t violate that. There were a couple responses that could have been deleted, which happens all the time. 90% of the post was on topic and no violations.
Aw, Ethics, for the first time I disagree with you. 30-49 is not hard. I think 50+ should get rewards based on what level they were. It would be cool for me to get something for the small amount of levels, but it’s the 50-80 runners who are really getting the brunt of the injustice.
I’m not trying to devalue 30-49, I’m only at 42, but it’s just… Not that hard.
When did I ever say it was hard? And why is compensation only for something that is hard.
It was time invested regardless of difficulty. I already agreed that 50+ should also get a reward, but anet never really intended for people to progress past 50 (yet). I’m not declaring it an exploit, just saying it wasn’t intended.
People who invested time into getting to the ‘soft cap’ and waiting patiently, have nothing more to show than those that casually got to 30.
I guess, but I still think anybody over 30 should be rewarded.
I stopped at 48, because we were told that eventually we could progress further. I waited like a good little boy, and now they just reset to 30.
If 50+ wants some kind of title, that’s fine, but I think 31-49+ should get a reward based on what level they were during reset.
Please post a source or link of a dev or Anet saying that nobody should be progressing past 49.
Until then I’d recommend you stop saying incredibly ignorant things while accusing everybody better than you of exploiting.
You shouldn’t have done that screenshot with your greatsword.
Oh sorry i forgot that Sw/sw is more effective in front of LA bank….
I prefer sw/focus so I can drop temp curtain and reflect anything shooting at the proud commanders protecting the bank.
Thanks! I will do, but what time do you guys usually run?
NA time. Probably between 4pm-11pm server time.
I just can’t take it.
First off: I want to keep doing FotM because I like the teamwork required for different parts, I love the fractal weapon skins, I feel like I actually have to pay attention, the dungeons are better designed than many explorable paths. So I’m not looking for any “Just stop doing fractals” responses (though I may get a few.)
I’ve had great success sometimes pugging it, but lately I’ve been getting bad groups every single time. Today I was in a group that failed after 3.5 hours! That’s right, instance creator leaving, going back in, another creator leaving when the team couldn’t do something, starting over, getting to dredge 3rd, and failing and had to go to work. The group contained (at certain points) a guardian who refused to use reflects at all, players who refused to talk or say anything no matter what was asked, and people with obviously insufficient AR. I can’t take the pugs. I know I’m not 100% perfect but I know my role, I communicate, I have the AR, and I’m experienced enough to always make it with a competent group.
I’m in [FotM] but there aren’t enough people in the guild yet to always get a group. I’m one of only two people in my guild (a large one) that runs fractals at that level. Help?!
Stop doing fractals.
Oh wait, nvm, feel free to add me in game. I have a regular group of 3 or 4 that usually runs a 48 and we’ll have to carry somebody or PUG. We don’t do it too often anymore, but we might start back up.
Another thing to do is start adding people from PUGs that are actually good. PM then whenever you wanna run one and you guys might start to form a regular group.
So by what luck are we talking here whereby someone duo’ed a full fotm 79?
Without exploits/bugs
Oh, here’s the peach lover Ethics. Hai.
That build is awesome, don’t be a filthy elitist. After all you don’t take a thief in Arah just for the stealth during skips…
…no…
Dem bleed stacks.
Peach lover eh? Seems you have been talking to lilith too much.
Dem bleed stacks are OP, almost as much as dat double discipline banner stack.
even if i overestimate that build you’re still slowing down the party…
Lol, I didn’t read that build till just now. That’s…. it’s…. gross. Why would you bring that into a dungeon?
Seems like you’re trying to specialize at condition killing trash mobs. That’s the opposite of what you should be aiming to do.
TL;DR: Is it a good idea to use dungeon tokens to buy exotics for Mystic forge for precursor and/or salvaging token bought rares for ectos?
You could also buy rares and throw them in the mystic forge :p
You have less chances of getting an exotic but they are so much cheaper, specially if you are going for a 2h precursor.
True, but that means you need to do one of the 70+ dungeons? 75+ dungeons? The rares are the level of the dungeon, all the exotics are 80.
That means it only works with CoF, Hotw, Arah, and CoE
How about making a dungeon or a fractal where the final boss room look the same as one of the Spvp map. The boss can either be a team of npc, GM or Spvp team. Make it so ppl queuing up for Spvp has a chance to be teleported and appear as final boss.
That’s a good idea, only if it’s AI. If people wanted to spvp against real players, well…. there’s spvp or that.
But I think an npc team of 5 (with random classes that go to random points) would be really interesting.
I could see it being a 3-5 min game, where if you lose you start over again with a different enemy team.
No devs read this forum though (unless you get reported, then they read your one post our of context and infract). Try out the suggestions forum.
Hmmmmm….how about put any 4 fractal skins into the mystic forge to get a fractal weapon token that can be turned in for fractal weapon skin of your choice?
i would totally like this….
Wouldn t destroy rarity of fotms skins while giving EASY access to the one you want for a cost.
This isn’t enough RNG.
Make it 3 weapon skins + a token for the weapon skin you want that randomly drops from only 1 fotm round that changes daily. You don’t know what that round is though, as it’s based off of RNG. Once it drops, it changes to a party member’s inventory randomly every 5-30 min (of course the time is randomly chosen). At random, the coin may drop to the ground and you have a chance to pick it up again.
Once this is all thrown in the forge, it will either randomly give you the skin you want, another coin for a different skin, nothing at all, or a mini pet that is made up of random numbers.
See, RNG is FUN! ANet says so!
One last spot of advice, as well. You know how people who walk into wvw with a PvE build are called free loot bags? The reverse is also true. Make sure you look through some guardian Dungeon builds to try to maximize your contribution to your team.
And while I understand you might not have the gear to fully spec out(after all, you’re doing this dungeon to get gear anyways), you can at least do the traits, and possibly shore up some of your gear with inexpensive rares or something.
This is what I came to say as OP’s questions is already answered.
PvE dungeons are all about DPS and damage mitigation. It might harder to learn the encounter, but most good runners go with full zerker gear, with full DPS runes and sigils, along with an almost full DPS trait set up.
If you’re pugging it, this is harder to do, but can provide an interesting challenge.
As a guardian, don’t fight with staff or scepter. =)
I know that, but I used “a few players” because I was comparing to the GW2 player base, also if you would have checked my YT channel (which is in my signature) you would’ve known that I can duo Lupicus.
And most of the p2 seller I joined (to check if lupicus was killed) didn’t actually kill it.
No offense, but I’m not going to click on everybody’s link in their sig and watch all of their footage.
That’s cool you can duo lupi, as I mentioned my usage of ‘you’ was in the general sense, not directly towards you.
I believe the topic is more on along the lines of people kicking somebody near the end, using their hard work, to sell paths. What you specifically are talking about, with your ‘evidence’ is that people bug/exploit the dungeon to sell. Two different things, both bad, but two different things.
provide proof or don’t bother posting.
Even with proof, I’d rather they just not bother posting.
Report it. There’s nothing we can do on here, which is why most people just give off-topic or nonsensical answers.
(edited by Ethics.4519)
We had a non-english speaking, eternity wielding guardian join our 4man group for “Be VERY experienced, arah p2, Know what you’re doing” group.
We carried her the whole way, and only a couple of times did chuck make a comment along the lines “So eternity doesn’t help you dodge?”
My good deed: I did not vote to kick her so we could just 4man it.
It’s pretty common for the “harder” dungeon paths…
I mean look at the LFG page for arah….
A guild group of 2 people get to the last boss, kick everyone else and then sell the path completion for 20g a person.
How do you know any of those teams kicked anyone? Since people can easily duo arah p2 in 20-30 minutes I would be surprised if ANY of those people kicked pugs. Perhaps before you make an accusation you should have some evidence, no?
If two people can duo the supposedly hardest content in the game then this game has much bigger issues.
Also I have all the evidence I need since it’s happened to me before.
Well only a few players can solo / duo Arah. The rest are just using exploits to skip lupicus (for p1/p2).
Also you can report those who kicked you
.
This is also a horrible assumption.
There is a large number of legitimate players who can duo this content.
Again, just because you (not you specifically but the general usage) can’t duo it, doesn’t mean there aren’t much more skilled players out there. Honestly it doesn’t take that much work.
People like Brazil, strifey (not recently, obviously), and nike! have done the calculations/videos/tutorials to minimize the work. The rest is just having patience to learn/understand the fights and the skill to not make a mistake.
Just because it’s too hard for you doesn’t mean it’s not easy to somebody else.
If two people can duo the supposedly hardest content in the game then this game has much bigger issues.
They can, and it does. Also, I wouldn’t consider this the hardest content in the game.
Just went with my normal arah group. I’ve done p4 before, but talked them into it.
Simin and the mesmer would the easiest.
Overall we probably struggled the most wiht big ol ape face melandru.
Grenth horrible mechanic wraith fight was a pain because the ele was using a projectile auto attack, causing him to reset (for awhile until I figured out what was going on)
Oh yeah OP, this is very nice of you. I’d give you some karma if I could =)
level 40 fotm drop weapons at a 40% drop rate through rng you can get what you want if you do enough of them. I got 20 weapon I’m not using so many other better skins you can get. I don’t think weapons should be made easier. If anything there should be a recipe to make them ascended.
Got to love when people make up random statistics.
People only make up statistics 83% of the time.
If you’re in a guild group or ogranized group that plays together regularly, I think having 1 ele or 1 thief would be fine, along with a mesmer and guard.
If you’re pugging, your best bet is to go guardian or warrior. You can go mesmer, but honestly I think 2 mesmers is worse than 2 guards or 2 wars. (in most situations)
Light armor classes aren’t usually in melee range anyway (unless you’re a dagger ele or something), so I’d put my stats in damage more than survivability. It’s up to you how you want to play a class, so you can put points in health and toughness, but all it means is that a fully specced defense ele won’t be as resilient as a fully specced defense guardian (in terms of health/armor). Skill obviously comes into play
Nope, not this.
Everything can melee and you’re most likely expected to in dungeons. Most of the light classes have some decent backup. Mesmer’s have stealth, clones, and a low cd evade + block on sword. Eles have cantrips, healing, boons, auras. Guardians that have a low health pool but high armor have a lot of condition removal with invulnvs, blocks, and healing. Everything depends on your builds.
If you’re in PvE it’s just full damage. PvE is generally easy to survive.
WvW You’re looking at very typical meta builds in zergs. Small roaming is where it starts to vary like PvP.
True for these bugs Ethics …
Of course, what was fixed needed to be fixed, it’s just a shame it did not come with a complete revamp/fix of fractals altogether, at the same time.
I do hope next update makes things right.
I completely agree. Bugs/Exploits that benefit the player and hurt the player both need to be fixed, it’s annoying when they only fix the ones that benefit the player and leave the ones that hurt them.
Changes weren’t listed because they don’t want to notify the whole gaming community about exploits. Some dev (I forget who) mentioned it might cause people who didn’t know about the exploit, to use that information to find a new one.
I remember reading it when they patched the little corner spot for hotw p1 final boss.
RIP in peace Mesmer.
NOOOO!! Actually, after spoj or hybrid (can’t remember) linked me the rt run, already switching from mes to thief. So…. whatever.
I got the wall working quite nicely now. Except when it decides to not deploy. But don’t worry about that. It doesn’t happen too often :p
Awesome, now we just need to actually run it. Super elitist Tiffie told me you botched on wall last time. She said she’s going to start kicking you if you don’ get your crap together, probably just invite a necro in COF gear to replace you.
i never used the stack thing in the dredge fractal. just stay near the back wall and fight the champ. that boss must have one of the easiest to dodge attacks in the game, the wind up is so slow and obvious.
that harpy thing is annoying as kitten tho. woe to any who get both of those fractals in one run over 30…
Don’t you just love how they keep fixing all of ‘these’ items, yet harpies have been going invuln forever. What’s up with the 3000+ attack range?
RIP in peace Mesmer.
NOOOO!! Actually, after spoj or hybrid (can’t remember) linked me the rt run, already switching from mes to thief. So…. whatever.
I always did fractals the right way. I don’t what any of you are talking about. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Oh yeah! er…. the back of Maw? What? What does thaaaat mean?
Maw – You cant go behind his head anymore. They put another green block to block the path.
Asura Fractal – Mesmer can’t teleport anymore past the second set of platforms.
Cliffside – Going to take some more research as the bug was never a sure thing but it seems the boss at the end no longer drops his hammer if stacked inside him. He did come down with MS if we stayed inside him so you can just pound on him.
I rolled Cliffside last night, and the hammer dropped while stacked.
Did anyone notice any changes with Agony Resist? Did a lvl 30 and the agony from maw hit much harder than before. Both myself (Necro w/ 30AR) and our Guard (also 30 AR) got downed on the initial burst and that has never happened before.
Lvl 30 fotm will hit 30 AR for 12% per tick. I believe there are 9 ticks on Maw, so you’re looking at getting downed unless you heal, from full health. Even though, if they patched the back, it’s possible you got hit by a squid and didn’t notice your health already starting low.
Still being kicked for no reason is wrong. I dont have 24hours a day to play and repeat fractals again and again. I wish to have a chance to punish such person for not letting me do my daily on fractal. I will no repeat it couse of no time so its fail for me today
I agree. Being kicked for no reason is completely wrong. Unforunately there isn’t really a strong fix that anet can put in place. The only thing you can do is take screenshots of every pug before you go in, with their name in the top left. However you still wont know who voted to kick and who agreed.
Also, everybody likes to play the good guy. Ask yourself if there’s absolutely any reason they may have kicked you. Sometimes people don’t notice bad builds or staff camping guardians till half way through or so.
Kicking at the end boss or on Jade Maw is also extremely rude. However, I have done this before. The guy lied about his AR and was a jerk throughout the run. Eventually we get to Jade Maw and we notice he dies almost immediately (on a lvl 38). We give him the benefit of the doubt and ask him to put his AR on which he replies “I don’t have any nubs” (which he told us he did when he entered).
We kicked him and I’m sure he came onto the forums to complain about being kicked at maw for no reason (yes, we were a guild party of 4+1 pug and invited a guildie to finish)
Give a chance to report after such situation.
Sounds like a lot of BHBs would be reporting for being appropriately kicked.
Thanks for the detailed information and extremely appropriate conversation starter for the dungeons forum.
“GLF1M Heavy class, p1”… You HAVE to let me PLAY with you guys!
Never expected Anet would even consider refunding these gems, but if they do, kudos.
I’m also incredibly surprised this.
“I willingly bought tools based purely on my own made up assumption of something so I demand you reimburse me!”
We had a discussion about this a couple of weeks ago. Someone (or some group) has been dumping large numbers of precursors (and by large, I mean maybe a dozen of each) into the buy orders all at once. If you look at the other precursors last night, they saw the same thing. We can’t tell from Spidy’s data, but potentially some bidders may have had their orders filled at a pretty cheap price.
Buy order dip on Zap was significant at 12. The graph doesn’t show it as significant because there are probably 1000 orders for Zap that are so low that they don’t really factor in to demand — probably placed a year ago, and those people no longer play.
We don’t know anything more about it though.
Thanks for this. That makes sense. That sucks that I potentially missed out on getting my cheap zap order filled. But I guess I’ll just keep at it.
Now, I’ll be wondering what would possess somebody or a group of people to dump a significant amount of precursors to fill buy orders.
About a week or two ago I noticed that Zap dipped down to 450g buy order. I started putting a buy order in every night around 475gold, but it never filled. I forgot a couple of nights, including last night, and gw2spidy shows a buy listings raw data for 210g for 11pm last night.
Does this mean that everybody above 210g either removed their order or had it filled? The number of buy orders seems to only slightly dip. Is this just a miscalculation on the website or am I reading this incorrectly?
Thanks in advance
I don’t know about others, but I generally don’t read any thread that has ten pages of posts. Even if you post an idea in there, it’s going to get buried under other ideas. It’s not like it’s stickied to be THE thread for gem store suggestions, so I don’t get the criticism for posting it separately. It’s not like we’re running out of forum space. =P
The devs care. There are tons of posts everyday. If people really wanted their suggestions heard, they will post where the devs post and where the devs tell them they will be reading their suggestions.
If all they want is for other people to say “hue hue hue great idea kitten ” and not have any devs actually read it, sure, make a new thread for a horrible idea.
1) That’s arguably pay2win
2) There is already a massive thread with ideas for gemstore items
3) The wall of text was completely unnecessary.
Fractals don’t get harder the higher level you go. Agony is a gating system. You can dodge all agony attacks except for Jade Maw. Agony is a complete waste of space and time.
Besides this type of dungeon design is so flawed that new players wouldn’t even want to step foot in it. Even if the rewards were good at 50+; who in there right state of mind would want to grind the same fractals 200 times?
People who think it’s fun. I didn’t do it to get to 50, I did it because it was fun to play with my friends and see how well we could master the challenges.
More mobs, higher health, harder hits, more veterans… that all equates to being harder. Just because it wasn’t the ‘harder’ that you expected, doesn’t mean it’s not more difficult.
Even a group that has 55 AR and experienced will take longer on lvl 48 than they will on 1, 10, even 28.
Edit: I completely agree with you spoj. The switch from 9 to 10 was awesome. I can’t even describe my disappointed switch from 19 to 20, as I found no other mechanics change.
(edited by Ethics.4519)
Did this ever get fixed? I’ve been gone since Oct 15th and haven’t been able to test.
This is 5 days old. He just found out about it 3 days ago. I’d be surprised if anybody is even working on it yet.
The best burst healing I have seen comes from the Elementalist’s Frost Bow. The number 1 skill spams point blank healing, much like the staff number 1 skill, only more. And Frost Bow gives you a healing skill buff as a bonus.
Why did you necro! Such a no-no.
ESPECIALLY this thread…. so sad.
Na, leave fotm mechanic as is.
Add this to all other dungeons though. Plus, you might want to try the suggestion forums
So if I want to make a toon just for dungeonsn runs, which class do you recommend?
Like spoj said, warrior is a good option. If you plan on pugging a lot, think about guard as well.
You can solo it as a shortbow thief. I do it all the time.
You can solo it as a naked greatsword warrior. At level 79. I do it all the time.
Link it!
Here’s some advice. Go full zerk everything for fotm 48. You’re not ‘tanking’ anything…. ever.
Banners + FGJ.

Thanks man, that’s pretty solid. I might have to switch to my thief or war from now on =)
@ 4:20-ish, how did the abominations not charge into the corner…. cripple? Have you guys accidentally pulled another mob with the GS #5 pull?
Edit: Sorry I have to edit, still have my 900 second punishment. We usually stack in the corner and use the wall to hide the charge. It seems like one of them went out wide, and you were easily able to pull them in close with GS #5.
Very nice run, will have to attempt some of your strategies =)
(edited by Ethics.4519)
Fun fact, been pugging and a mesmer in my party used feedback on malrona at TA just at the best possible time when she was about to use her poison burst. She puked herself and got down with about 20% of her life, which killed her. We all were like (O_O)
If you are poisoned, you do a lot more damage to her. Mesmers/Guardians can stand in her poison spray (not the projectile one), then feedback/wall the aoe projectile to do massive damage.
AC 1-3, (CM?), TA up/fw, SE 3, HotW 1-3, CoF 1-3, CoE 1-3, Arah 1-4.
You wouldn’t take a mesmer for any of Arah? What do you use on Lupi’s p2?
wall or dodge.
Mes is nice for casuals anyway, not really a (big) loss to take one.
How reliable is guardian wall? My regular group (I being the mesmer) uses feedback for the first one (as all I have all my extra % through mantras and phantasms) but the transition we are defenseless. We’ve tried dropping wall but it doesn’t reliably reflect from what we’ve seen.
