Is it too hard? Respect the awesome work

Smaller team, actually. And the length was my own desire to get as many ideas as I could in there. I spent several months pulling 16 hour days and a couple weeks where I did a couple 36 hour stretches, went home, slept and came back and did it again. No one else wanted me to do that. In fact those sort of crazy hours are discouraged at ArenaNet. I did that because I freeking love what I do and wanted this release to be the best thing ever. Turns out I pushed too hard to get those new mechanics in there and I’m being told here over and over that all that work was wasted and it’s making people miserable. I’ve learned my lesson. Won’t happen again! And for that, my family thanks you!
Well you shouldn’t feel bad about it. In fact, it shows in the game how passionate you and your team are about it. But at some point it hits the “Too much, Darling. Too much.”-mark

Now that I’ve had a chance to try world 2 I have to admit that it’s too much of a leap from world 1.
The rapids were annoying, a tad long but quite ok all in all.
However, zone 2 is so long. And you have to do it slowly too. The assassins are such a pain to kill and at the parts past the gong, where you have to pick a teleport route they just constantly kicked me off the platform before my screen changed to the new area.
Zone 3, well I wasn’t able to finish it yesterday because it just kept going on and on and on. Every time I thought, yes here comes the boss, there was another tedious slip and slide part. After over an hour I just got so motion sick that I gave up in the blizzard.
I really enjoy the concepts of the worlds, thematic they are so much more interesting than world 1. But they really are too hard and too long for a second world.
Well, it’s almost on par with Immobulus now.

That’s a clever thing to say in modern society. Good job.
I suggest you take a gander at this:

The other thing to point out that 75% of the original playerbase is gone, most of which came on here in November and begged Anet not to go down this road with this game when they decided that Ascended is what people wanted or that Exotic wasn’t enough or that dungeons (fractals) should be where they place their focus for new exciting content or any kind of meaningful loot.
There is a 87,9% chance that those numbers are 100% pulled out of your derrière.
The real question is why would you even need splitters?

Well at the very least i couldn’t stun it, at all, yesterday. Intended or bug? Don’t know.

Everyone’s making a big deal about the infinite continue coin but come on, think of the value it will have. There’s two more worlds to come and I’m fairly certain I’m going to blow tons of lives on them, not to mention TM mode.
It’s still a convenience item, but it’s finally one that’s really convenient.
It is an item that allows you to complete the content without any thought or balance on the part of the designers of the content. It is the definition of P2W.
“P2W: Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate and then makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying.”
Hmmm, nope.
I know it comes across as pretty harsh but that’s just the way virtual reality made us….
So basically you or your select few can buy it for hardly any gold at all, while the longer your have to wait the more it’s going to cost up to the point that you are better off just buying it yourself?
With all due respect, this sounds like a horrible and naive plan.
And you can get plenty of coins in the game like that. Once again people are just throwing their keywords around like it ain’t nobodies business, without knowing what they are talking about.
This item is not a “pay to win” item. It’s merely a convenience item.
You have a legendary, your point is thus moot!
Hah
You’re suppose to be efficient like the rest of us and try to find something pro-active to do with it instead of complaining.
And I’m sorry but your whole worth assessment is completely asinine.

Well…

Likewise.
SAB1.0 did give me motion sickness after a while and watching Woodenpotatoes struggle through trib mode nearly made me retch. However, my try at World 2-1 yesterday didn’t cause me any problems.
Being old and cautious, I read who wrote the letter, then read the letter, and then took the box and shoved it in the far back of my bank slot.
There may be a reason why I need a suicide gift… so I keep it just in case.
Dear Sir,
We regret to inform you that the entire content of your bank has been destroyed by what seems to be some sort of explosive. While we are sympathetic for your loss, we also like to remind you that your insurance does not cover calamities caused by deposited items. We can, unfortunately, not reimburse your losses.
Regardless, we wish you a pleasant day.
Next time just open the darn gag gift mkay?
Ultimately, it’s always a matter of preference. You already indicate that in your own post.
I’m going to say Guardian, because it’s the most forgiving, has good dps if you don’t fall for the tanky ways and is the least ‘tech’ of them all, relying on preservation magic for a part.
As for the more active play. I suggest you try a sword/(focus/shield/torch) setup. Sword guardians are not only very active, with teleports and heavy reliance on blinds from skills and virtues, but they are also top dps builds.
Sceptre is also very strong and useful ranged weapon which complements the sword greatly.
Sword/Focus + Sceptre/Shield is pretty much an all-purpose setup.
It’s not that I want them per sé. I’m probably even going to be disappointed by them. But it’s the principle of the matter. Why did they decide to skimp only 2 legendary weapons? Only the FSP and Minstrel don’t have auras or footfalls. Surely it wasn’t such a time consuming matter to fix that.
1) Most builds won’t be of any use to you until you unlock the higher tier traits. I wouldn’t worry about that so much at the start. Personally I very much enjoy sceptre/dagger on elementalist. You have nice fire field combo’s to boost both your and your partner warrior’s damage.
2) Just update every so now and then from cheap blues on the TP. On elementalist I suggest updating your gear often, especially at lower levels. You’re so flimsy, every point counts.
3) As you usually have to gather the materials for a piece of crafted gear in the same or higher level zones, you usually run behind when crafting for yourself. I wouldn’t really bother. The most useful during your actual levelling is jeweller imho.
Buy yourself some food and maintenance oils and always have those on. They give you an additional 20% experience for all kills. You can boost that up even more with exp-boosters.
You’re right, there’s dumb enough in Tyria already.
My FSP should have mini eyes of janthir as footfall darnit!
I can’t wait to do the rapids in tribulation mode.
..oh wait, I can actually.
Lets deal with those less fortunate, like the Flameseeker Prophecies and the, unfortunately, still underdeveloped Minstrel first mkay?
Oh come on now, she thanked all races several times.
OP you sound just like a tabloid ‘journalist’, pulling one quote out of the context. The truth is that she said nothing with far more words than you imply!
Excellent! Just what I needed!

“Engineers are one of the least played professions. We want to give them some love but you must understand that the warriors represent a much bigger, more vocal group.
Given time and resources we will give the engineers their due love."
There, I just went and wrote that up for them, saving them some time.
- Lights spawning too close to walls
Just wanted to ask, are you sure this was a bug? The lights are always static; they spawn in the same place, in the same order EVERY time. There is a large variance on where the lights spawn in relation-ship to the arena you are in…. The south arenas second light will spawn nearly inside the wall, while the north arena’s will be a ways out. Literally the only random element in the fight is the rift, and possibly Liadri’s attacks in phase 2.
I noticed it was different depending on the arena & Im quite aware that is a static element to the fight. I have her whole fight memorized which is why it surprised me when I saw that light so close to the wall. On other arenas you can safely get behind it & lure a void into without dying.
Correct, there were arena’s in which the light vortexes spawn so close to the wall that the visions would still get you. All in all the gauntlet was a pretty glitchy place.
ponders
Why should I try to convince you to? The best way to decide is to try.
You have your account, it only costs you a little bit of your time.
I enjoyed your artwork of a Charr being squished by the checkpoint.
Very entertaining
Edit:
Secret shop that sells Wooden Whistle for 250 baubles that can play a couple songs.
It’s a commonly known fact that retro game whistles summon teleportation options, be it birds or whirlwinds.

Dyes his regular blue Super sword purple
Mihihihihi, no one will ever know!
Just as clarification, because in the discussion it really doesnt matter, I highlighted the parts where it comes across as such:
What is wrong with you guys ;/ It took me a lot of stress and time to beat Liadri, in no way did i find it easy. Not once did i go ‘oh i wish they would make her easier’ i only wished that i could be better.
You guys in mmo’s expect everything to be catered to you and your skill level. In a regular game someone comes across a boss that takes many many goes, so they keep doing it until they beat it. In an mmo, someone finds a tough boss, cant do it, so comes on the forum crying that it needs to be nerfed. There is nothing wrong with the Liadri fight other than she is painfully hard. Yeah it hurt like hell to lose over and over and over, the waypointing, repairing etc. Then comes the feeling when you beat her. Never have i experienced such a feeling in a game, it was an outstanding feeling of personal achievement. I was almost frozen and shaking for ages. Im an average player so to finally beat that fight was epic, and i don’t regret it.
Haven’t you ever thought that the camera angle and the hard to see aoe was an intentional thing implemented to intensify the difficulty level…this fight was unique in that it pulled toughness from all aspects possible…hard to see aoe..visions that had to be avoided 100%, strange angles that make it harder to see everything around you, random elements injected by the use of pull orbs. I think its great. Hard, awful, stressful…but great.
Anet done a fantastic job building a tough fight. Games are meant to have objects and achievements not obtainable by all. Easy things for casual players, uber hard things for the more hardcore players.
Stop whining about it, and accept that this fight needed you to step up your game or walk away.
So you took the absolutely worst example of what’s available in the Gem Store to “prove” your point?
I consider the price of Gems to be alright. It takes me about 40 minutes of RL work (or writing messages like this) to get 800 gems (after taxes), which can buy me a nice set of armor skins. Compare to grinding around 35 gold which I doubt anyone will be doing in 40 minutes of playing the game.
We think alike, you and I
My thoughts exactly.
Oh you’re quitting on patch day?
Well that makes you super special doesn’t it.
… you’ll come back. They always do.
Well he is salty…
This is worthy of an alcoholic beverage (curse you censor):
A Tequila Sunless
2 parts tequila
4 parts grape juice (blue)
1 part green grenadine
Ice
Mmmm, to un-die for!
(edited by Evans.6347)
Fair enough
She had over 10 years to get them, in all honesty she’s been pretty slow at it.
I won’t be able to sleep, I’m really excited about the patch!, SAB is as good as a mini game can get, the skin look great and the new Tribulation mode may be a nice challenge.
ALso with the legendary update and the ascended weapon, for someone with as many legendaries as me, I couldn’t be happier!
Thanks ANet for the nice update!
Gentlemen, I present you the subtle flaunt.
claps
Well, it should give a serene blue trail in the day and the lightning footfall at night, to go with it’s day/night cycle really.
Got it, well that is not too bad of a change.
You are a good person, don’t ever change
It just drops MF on Celestial. All it’s other stats remain unchanged.
You’re probably better off running dungeons for gold LadyRhonwyn. The advantage is that you can spend the tokens on exotics to salvage for ecto or dark matter.
That’s what you get for punching your screen.
Now if someone comes in and drags the manifesto in this and another one cries Mary Sue then we have the entire holy trinity of the forum here. ¬.¬
Or perhaps we can have giant neon billboards floating above our heads exclaiming which legendary we’re wielding.
…Aren’t they special enough already? Do you really have to scream to the entire map “Hey look at me, I have expensive stuff!”?
There’s a couple of sets like that.
Male Sylvari orchid armor for example.
Lyssa = Lyss + Ilya
Remember the goddess of illusion has to faces : one is official, the other one is hidden. The two twin sisters live together and so do Anise and Jennah, they live together, and Anise is always in the shadow of the queen.
They maybe both the incarnation of Lyssa or at leat powerful champions of the goddess
So what are they called then? Annah or Jennise?
Did they explicitly say that Exotics would always be the highest tier and would automatically be upgraded to reflect that? No.
But they did say that about Legendaries.
So please, don’t pull twisted points into this.
