If you try to fight a thief as a Mesmer, you gonna have bad time.

I also found no solid method to fight those types of thiefes.

The amount of LoS abuse Sword/X allowes is just ridiculous.

I’d like to suggest a new item:

Name: “unlock token” (or whatever you wanna call it)

Properties: “Permanently unlocks 1 dungeon track of your choice for sPvP”

Achieved via: Every time, you enter a new tier of rank (10,20…)

Reasoning:
There should also be a PvP way to permanently unlock the dungeon tracks.
This item will make this possible.
I know that getting from 0 to 10 is easier than from 70 to 80, but as we don’t have any option atm to unlock tracks via pvp, it might still be better than nothing.

In addition, I suppose it is very easy to implement, which also makes it a good solution.

I totally agree.
However, as ANet probably is now bundeling their resources into the Asia release, I think we wont see any new reward tracks or sth. similar for a long, long time.

This is typical for ANet. They replace one half-done system with another one.

If there wasn’t the possiblity to permanently unlock a dungeon track via PvE, I’d bet that the PvP population would sink to pre patch levels again, as soon as the CoF patch comes up.

I know, the ladders suck and ranks don’t represent skill, but those are the only both mesures we have.

If MM works properly, the best players would progress as fast as the worst, as both of them would get paired with other very good / very bad players.

Who needs progression? As ANet turned sPvP into PvE, this is the only real PvP left!
Maybe they will actually introduce ingame rewards for forum posts, so that more players join the forum and we don’t have a minority here.

Or use the PvP browser.
But keep in mind, even though the “offical Servers” (those with numbers) have 20 slots, there are only 10 players allowed to play on a map (the other 10 only are able to spectate).
So make sure you only enter a server with <10 players on it.

I don’t see pve’ers complaining about pvp’ers running around with arah weapons and armor, which were extremely easy to obtain in pvp while being part of the more difficult content of pve.
What about firebringer, infinite light/runic blade, dwayna long and short bow? You should look at both sides of the coin, not only at one.

There’s a difference between “being easy / hard” to obtain and “not obtainable at all”.
Not to mention that:
Firebringer required you to get rank 40
runic blade required you to get rank 70 , or later to be lucky with the cultural armors.
dwayna bows were rare procs from tournament chests.

Oh, great that you mention it. Those skins now aren’t obtainable anymore. That’s the whole glory of the new pvp rewards. A drastical reduction in obtainable skins via pvp!
In general, all this stuff you just listed up now isnt obtainable anymore via PvP. All of those PvP ways to get those skins are gone.
Making a PvE analogy: Imagine, if on April 15th, they would have removed the Mystic Forge, so nobody would be anymore able to craft items created by it. Wouldn’t have felt good.

Also: If I want a shark/phoenix/dragon etc. finisher I have to play pvp

The finishers only (don’t come with those few NPCs you can stomp…) have use in PvP or WvW, there’s simply no point of making them available via PvE.

On a side note: Fractal skins could be used in PvP before the wardrobe and reward track update and the only thing the update changed is that weapons acquired before the great fractal update are affected as well now.

I’m 99-100% sure, you couldn’t use fractal skins in pvp, bevore the wardrobe. The PvP locker didn’t even have a slot for those weapons.

And finally again:
I don’t have any problems if they also would add a more reliable PvE way to get FOTM skins.

I have completed 180 reward track steps so far, so at worst that is 200 hotjoin wins, which is 30 gold in just match rewards, or 36 gold from tpvp, add to that all the mats and rares from opening the boxes with 400 magic find, 30 rares (average 30s), 2 exotics(5g), 4 ascended boxes and quite a few mats, I would say I have made 60-70g. So ima say that he is full of it but it is fairly rewarding.

Say we go with best case, and opened the boxes with 400 magic find like I did then he would still need to do 40-50% more pvp then I did. So the equivalent of 180 tpvp wins in 2 weeks. Seeing as how he has a 53% winrate in tpvp and 49% winrate in soloq I am going to say that there is no way that he made 100g and 20% progress on a legendary in 2 weeks :P

The gift of fortune alone costs 1000 gold kitten , and you need to do 39 reward tracks to get enough clovers, so 9x the steps I did in the last 2 weeks. So it would take 4-5 months of pretty heavy playing to get the clovers for a legendary through pvp.

Not to mention the 400 magic find every pure pvp player ofc has.

This is no criticism on your person, however it is some kind of ironic, that pve players (who usally have more mf) have better dropchances on the chests you get out of PVP, than PvP players.

I don’t even have to get to rank 80 in order to lose my motivation.

There are no more rewards in PvP, I could aim for, as I have have most of the dungeon armors, as well as the region reward track skins.
I wont keep grinding PvP just for gold…which you even don’t get that much.

And as a Mesmer, playing in tPvP is actually not rly much fun anymore.

I’d prefer sth like a ~2s cd on the skill.
I know, thief weapon skills have no cd, but when you interrupt a foe, you want to get him out of his rotation and make him do sth. else.
Atm, the initiative mechanics completly prevents this. Not to mention, that a lot of crucial skills can’t even properly be interrupted, due to their evades.

Maybe just remove Vulnerability?

So you get a bleed or a burn garanteed.

Chill, Confusion and Torment seem to strong for being on an autoattack.

Maybe Poison, but they might not make the chances for every Condition euqal.
Sth like 40% chance for bleed, 40% for burn and 20 for Poison.

Moa is almost useless against good players, as well as against every class which has has good acces to stuff like aegis or blinds.

While those skins do not represent “skill”, they show that you have successfully played the related content at least a couple of times and they help to encourage players to play that content. Nonetheless I agree that there should be a less random way to obtain fractal weapons but it should be related to fractals and not to anything else.

Before the patch, every PvP armor and Weapon did represent somehow what you have successfully played.
This got completly deleted on april 15th.
E.g.:
CoF armor & Whisperers Armor were only obtainable via reaching rank 50 in PvP.
While in PvE, CoF is the easiest dungeon and Whisperers Armor can simply be bought with gold. They showed, how far you got in sPvP.
Actually, I think it was some kind indentical with the fractal skins. Only players who out effort into sPvP were able to get those skins. Now, everybody can get his skins via PvE and jump with them into PvP.

You guys have to realize, that the issues, which are bothering you when PvP players ask for FOTM skin, are the same, which exist for PvP players, when PvEers were allowed to bring their skins into the mists.
But since this is now possible, there is no reason to keep it up with holding skins PvE exclusive.

Now compare it to PvP, where your skill can completly be neutralized by an oppsing team with more skill.
PvP is not like fractals, where you can choose the difficulty you want to play on. Not to mention that with good MM, every match will demand everything from you in order to win.
And have I already mentioned, that the rewards you get in the end are poor and the chance to get a fractal skin in the end is atm 0%?

Or compare it to the region tracks. For unlocking the Orrian patch, you have to go through all other region pathes.
Those are 4*8 tiers ~120 TeamQ WINS.
Than you still have to do the Orrian track (another ~35 TeamQ wins) and in the end, you get a skin, which is worth ~10 silver.

I don’t think so. Fractals unlike other dungeons were the one thing which separated the stronger and weaker people. They were meant to be harder than dungeons, more demanding. Fractal weapons were really unique and often took a lot of time and many runs to get them.

But isn’t the drop of fractal skins also pure luck?
What has luck to do with skill?

Why should other people get them just by playing sPvP when on reward tracks it doesn’t matter if you win or loose a match cause either way you progress on your track, only a bit slower.

The funny thing is, a lot of pvp players were thinking the same way about PvE players being able to use their PvE skins in PvP.

However, I think as a compensation, there should be also a more confident PvE way to get fractal weapons. I don’t want that pve players are “forced” into PvP, just because there are fotm skins.

When ANet united PvE and PvP skin, it was a compromise for both sides, but atm, PvE players have seen much more advantage of this, than PvP players have seen.
All PvP players want, is some own ways to get those skins, every PvE player is allowed to wear in PvP, too.

Ok, I have to admit, I was wrong with engis.
And thx for providing this statistic.

But how Mesmers are handled is just sad.
Especially in the last match, it was really ironic.
Hellseth always tryed to evade 1 vs 1s, which is somehow ironic, as everybody sais Mesmer is such a strong 1v1 class.
Also, in teamfights, the Mesmers are usally the ones which are focused first, and as soon as there’s a thief in the opposing team, the Mesmer will also have a bad time in teamfights.

Or the Mesmer elites, always never provide anything “big” to their teams, while still having insane CDs.
Not to mention, how often the “absolutly OP” Moa Elite was used in those matches.

Even if you wanted to craft a legendary or ascendend stuff, you can’t do it only with pvp, as you have to level up a crafting profession and to get the gifts of exploration and WvW.

QQ, join the rest of the player base who also has to do those things (and also may not like doing them either.)

Plz take your “QQ” and shove it up your kitten .

I don’t mind how players get their Legendaries for PvE, but if you are able to bring Legendaries into PvP, I want a way to get them via PvP.
In addition, if there won’t be a PvP way for Legendaries, I don’t see any use in all those kittenty Ascendend mats, Clovers & Obsi Shards I get. Those are totally useless, if you only play pvp.

Did some math:

standard Shatter Damage = a (incl. 20% MW bonus)

Shatter with 3 clones = 3a
Shatter with 3 clones critting with 200% Crit DMG = 6a
^ with empowering Mantras = 6a * 1,08 = 6,48

Shatter with 3 clones + IP = 4a
^ ~50% krit chance @190% crit dmg = 4a +2a*0,9 = ~5,8a (expected value)
^ + compounding power = 5,8a * 1,09 = 6,32 (How is this about IP?)

So, the “intelligent Wreck” (IW) actually has a little bit more Damage on MW.
Not in the calculation is, that IW also features 100 Strength more than standard shatter, but therefore Standard Shatter has a better acces to might and is able to shatter more often.

In the end, there are several more differences (Boon removal, phant dmg, vigor uptime, etc).
But both seem interesing.

Yeah can confirm the Orrian chest skin reward is the Orrian skin. Rather disappointing as those are literally sold for few silver each on TP. Hence I was expecting for example the champion bag exclusive skins from the last chest.

Well, honestly every team with that mesmer build was in a disadvantage, I mean going shatterer with GS and Staff? Makes little sense to me although I don’t know the class well.

The builds which Hellsetz and Misha used arent “100% pure shatter”. If I remember right, they both used Halting strike, so they can also deal some interrupt damage.

I think, if Mesmer wouldn’t have stuff like Illusion of Life, or Portal, probably nobody would use them in tournaments.
Mesmer gets only occainsally picked, because it can have some good support utilities for his team, but nobody picks a Mesmer “because it is so strong”.
You use it, because you can shift your team with portals, because he can stealth his allies or because of some condi removal.
All this is just to help the other classes to make a better performance.

It was actually a total of 3 disconnects, and it was on the losing team.

Actually actually, the first dc was on temple on the side of TCG and hit tage.

But it still sucks somehow, that on the last match they didn’t restart.

Seems interesting, but how do you want to land your shatter?

Without IP & Mirror Images, you can’t just make sth like a “blink-shatter”.
The savest way to land a shatter so is by iLeap, which isn’t prety reliable and a lot of good players can dodge it.
I haven’t experimented much mit Sigil of intelligence, yet, but do you lose some “stacks” when you use iLeap?

Using Mantra of Distraction and and Confounding suggestions instead of Empowering Mantras might also work, as you have a chance to stun or enemy and thus increase the chance of landing a shatter.

In addition, I think that Sigil of Intelligence seems a little bit OP and might actually get nerfed sonner or later.

I think on PAX, the teams were also on LAN or some kind like this.

The reward for ToL are Legendaries. As long as you don’t sell those on ebay, their “real money” value equals zero.
Thus, making a “real” tournament, with renting a place and stuff seems a little bit too much.

Yes, i can see someone else utility skills when they use them, but not before a fight, like they can with signets. I dont want to be predictable before the fight even starts.

But you get the bonuses from your signets passives right from the beginning.
Since you profit from your signets, they should also be displayed.

But the point is, that signets also give you some kind of bonus, when they are passive.

You can see your enemies utility skills in the moment he uses them.
Signes basicly get “permanently” used, at least the support you with their passive effect, so it only is fair that your enemy is able to see them.

So, I’m watching the Tournament of Legends atm, my impressions are:

Guardian is in every team (ofc)
Engi is also extremly popular.

Almost no team without a Warrior did win.
Almost no team with a Mesmer won.

Be slow.

Standard Condi PU Mesmers do a big portion of their dmg by:
-Clone death
-Scepter #2 & 3 which apply torment and confusion.

First of all, you should “turn off” your autoattack, so you don’t eat the torment of the Scepter #2 block.
Being able to fight the Mesmer from a distance, without risking to eat clone death conditions also is pretty helpfull.

The worst thing you can do when fighting a PU mesmer is to simply run around, swing your weapon and hit everything you see.

Yes, the old system didn’t give you much rewards for PvE, but for PvP itself, there were more skins obtainable than now.
In addition, you didn’t have to unlock pvp stuff.
With the changes to the rank system, there wasn’t even a big need to change the old reward system, as everbody now has a good chance of getting dragon and unlock everything.
They should just have added the still missing skins in pvp and I would have been fine.

This is basicly for totally new players that primarely pvp. With those tracks they still get the skins that drop in these regions even if they dont PvE in them.

But maybe, they should

  1. have mentioned that somewhere. “unique skin” is a extreme hyperbole. Not to mention, that you can’t sell them.
  1. give us actually some reward tracks which are worth doing. Those tracks are pure farm/grind tracks, without any “special” valure in the rewards. The only thing I could do is farming dungeon tracks, and flush the rewards down the mystical toilet.

This is sucks so hard.
So, to summarize the new reward system:

  • 1 track for a unique backpiece (which is ugly, in my opinion)
  • 8 tracks for dungeon items. However, in most cases, doing the actual dungeon is much faster
  • 5 region tracks, whos skins aren’t “unique” at all.

I also have never found that my phants would hit harder than usual (Shatter Spec)
However, I somehow felt stronger after the patch and I hope, this wont leave, otherwise I would be rly disappointed. I finally felt usefull again, as a Mesmer.

Edit:
I don’t have proper “pre fix” footage, but I think, I can memorize my IZerker hitting on the heavy golem ~3700 on average.
Not it seems more like 3000-2500 :/

Wow just no. The only way I can tell the difference between people that have actually attempted to pvp a little more than casually and the Pve heroes that are flooding soloque is titles. If someone is a Reaper, or Champ (insert title here) I have a little more hope. If I see “been there done that”, “the sunbringer”, “hero of lions arch” etc I get discouraged because I feel they will likely not be as knowledgeable about pvp tactics.

I just was in the mists and wanted to equip a focus.
I opened the PvP-Build and accidently clicked on the wrong itemrong.
So I equiped an exotic focus which was in my inventory, but wasn’t soulbound before. (Now it is, as I equiped it)

The problem is:
I didn’t get a warning icon, that it would get souldbound, like you usally get it, when you equip an item the first time.
I just clicked on it once and it got equiped.

Pls fix / change this, ANet.

But you guys should also keep in mind, that we will have to deal with those tracks probably for a long time.
Yes, for getting the first set, it might be nice if armor and weapon chest would be switched. But then?
If you already have the skins of your choice, weapons seem to be better, as you “only” have to do 1,25 tracks in order to get 4 weapons you can throw into the mystical forge and you’ll get sellable exotic weapon out of it (with chances of a precurser).

At the beginning it is all about quantity.

I don’t think, GW2 is still “at the beginning”.
In the actual beginning, of GW2, there was a big pvp playerbase, but everybody left, cuz ANet did nothing to sustain the playerbase.
Not regarding the rare balance changes and the rework of rewards and ranks, we only have 4 more maps, from whom exactly 1(temple) is accepted on a competitive level.
