I also don’t know why they remove it.
Yes, Underwate combat wasn’t balanced, but who cares about balance in a hot join map?
But they wont do it.
Removing doesn’t require much work.
“Rebuilding” it would.
You could gamble for Infinite Light, it´s ca 700 gold worth in PvE and I think it´s called Runic Blade or something in PvP. To craft it you need (no guarantee though):
– Phoenix token
– Sword token
– Arcane Crystal
– Arcane Dust
You can get the Phoenix token with luck from salvaging T2 cultural armor. It´s risky, if you´re unlucky you wasted your glory, but with luck you can save yourself a lot of gold. If you want to play safe though craft Arah or buy cultural.
That’s what I’m working towards, too.
Any tips available or info how the chances are to get phoenix tokens through salvaging and the “crit” rates on the forge for runic blade?
Sry if there was a Missunderstand, Seabreeze.
With “PvE-Style”, I wanted to say, that after the patch, the only way to obtain the skin of runic blade aka infinite light probably will be to create it in the mystic forge:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Infinite_Light
I’m also highly curious, how to obtain previously pvp exclusive skins after the patch, as well as how to obtain those skins which are not part of the reward tracks.
Nobody knows, that’s exactly what makes me so sceptical towards the update.
The Runic Blade is the PvP version of Infinite Light, so I suppose, the only way to get this skin in the future is to craft it “PvE-Style”.
I also wrote this somewhere else:
Expecting 5 region tracks, we will gain achievement tracks for 13 sets in total (8 dungeon tracks +5 region tracks).
Compared to the amount of sets you have when you are rank 40, this is a big loss.
Not to mention, the amount of styles you were able to get in total via pvp.
But it seems, we will only get those 13 tracks and for everything else, we have to buy it in the TP, somehow manage to mystical forge them or hope we are lucky with the champion bags
(edited by EverythingEnds.4261)
My problem is, that I think it is even impossible to use up your mats.
Given e.g. this amount of mats:
After crafting out all my item tokens and spending all my glory I have the following mats (currently useless and valueless):-
902 – Dust
516 – Orbs
133 – Crystals
115 – Slivers
2 – Rabbit Tokens
16 – Deer " "
65 – Dolyak " "
172 – Wolf " "
45 – Tiger " "Sure would be nice to have something constructive/positive to do with them, even if just a gold exchange at a minimal rate?
Let’s say, consumable tokens would be purchaseable for gold and you wanted to craft dyes. Just for using up all your arcane silvers, you would already need 113*10 =1130 Arcane dust.
And than you are still stuck with huge amounts of orbs and crystals.
Not to mention, that for transforming orbs & crystals into silver, you still would need dust.
They didn’t just give us any kind of compensation, the rates in which you get those mats from slavage are so disproportional, that it is absolutly impossible to use the majority of them up.
I started yesterday to craft dyes, in order to use up my mats. But in the end, I had even more arcane orbs, than when I started crafting.
The reason for this is, that I constantly run out dust, so I had to open more chests and slavge the items. However, I this also increased the general amount of orbs etc.
So, as pvp mats will become worthless, I started to use them in order to craft dyes.
But I encountered a problem:
I constantly run out of arcane powder.
So I opened tournament chests and salvaged the items.
But so i got even more mats.
The ratio in which i received arcane powder was far below what I would need.
The amounts of arcane orbs I have, even increased since I started crafting.
But I always lack arcane powder.
Any tips? Have I overseen sth?
If this is common, plz ANet do sth.
You can’t tell us, that you make the mats worthless, when it is in fact impossible to efectivly use them up.
Question in the title.
I still have ~100 of those in my inventory.
Will they be removed after the 15. april, or what will happen to them.
Do I need to open them before april 15th?
I have no idea what to do with them.
The chests are worthless
their content is worthless
the items i get when salvaging the content is worthless…or at least, soon will be.
So, what to do?
Oh, and another question:
Will there be any tournament-bound rewards (chests) in the future?
Or will the only thing we get from tournaments bee a faster progress in the reward tracks?
But I was referring to creating them in PVP.
There is no “creating them in PvP”.
You are only able to farm some of the ingredients via PvP.
The Creating of Legendaries stays the same.
I rly can’t tell if this is a serious post or not, ron.
2g is like nothing. Not to mention, that you probably will need ~30g for unlocking the new runes, sigil and amuletts in pvp and we don’t know, yet what the traits will cost.
However, I think, I will “save” a lot of money, as I (and a lot of other pvp players) have all Orr-skins, or e.g. all of the “mystic” weapons.
But that’s exactly the point. This awesome way of getting skins is gone after the patch. From then, you will have to farm stuff, or be very luck in order to get those skins.
We will only have the dungeon tracks and the region tracks. At least I can’t tell what those region specific items are. I hope, it is not stuff like the “Kryta Weapons”, even if this would make sense.
Ok, the champion bags give you a slight chance of getting some cool drops..
But tbh, I don’t like this. Bags with totally random drop luck bring this whole “farm, RNG” aspect I don’t like in PvE into PvP.
In the past, it was: Want Skin X? Get Rank Y or for some other skins, get some tournament chests.
With the patch, it will be for everything except dungeon armor: farm PvP, get champion bags, hope you are lucky.
“even if the really nice skins…. : D”
Thats the point!
We already had access to most of the skins before!
They only change the way we have access now (and imo not to sth. better), but they don’t give us proper ways to get access to the “really nice skins” we also hadn’t access before.
(edited by EverythingEnds.4261)
I think, custom arenas mostly are for pacticing spvp and not wvw, as like you already said, you don’t have your WvW stuff in the arena.
Most ppl agree, that already Hot Join with it’s 8 vs. 8 is too much players for the size of the maps.
Those maps are made for 5 vs. 5 matches.
I already can’t imagine how you want to stuff 20 players on those little maps.
I don’t think, 30 players on the spvp maps would work very well.
But maybe you should suggest sth. like “WvW custom arenas”. I wouldn’t have any issues with sth like that.
So, after reading the blog posts and watching the read ups.
My question is: Where are the new rewards for pvp?
I know, they tied the reward system together, so maybe I should ask, what new stuff is now obtainable via pvp?
We get 8 dungeon tracks, 5 region tracks and 1 Backpack track.
Regarding the dungeon tracks:
There’s almost nothing new there. We already had access to all Dungeon armors and weapons via pvp. Some month ago you even implemented Vendors for Dungeon armors…and even cultural armors
And you will add ~5 (?) region tracks?
So we will get 5 weapon & armor sets more.
Leaving us with a total of 13 sets
But when I walk right now up to my pvp locker, at the moment I already OWN about 23 (light) armor sets, without even having unlocked some of the dungeon armors. Given that maybe 6 of them might resemble “PvE green armors”, I still have more sets in my locker, than I would be able to unlock via the new track system.
And as I mentioned, I haven’t unlocked all dungeon armors, yet and I also haven’t counted cultural armors with are also currently obtainable via pvp.
So, with your new system, you basically CUT DOWN the number of armors/weapons we can obtain via PvP.
Not to mention, that in the past you could obtain the armor and weapon sets of the vigil, whisperers and priory via PvP. How will this work after the patch?
When you announced, that you would introduce a new reward system, I expected, that you would add ways to obtain all those weapons which hadn’t yet a spot in the PvP locker.
But in fact, you actually cut down the number of stuff you can get.
I also got the skin of the rifle precursor. How will people get stuff like this after the patch?
Instead of this whole track system, I actually would prefer if items would still be bound to ranks, as you are rebalancing the progression via ranks.
I gonna make an example:
Some players crafted e.g. Infinite Light via PvP.
When you fuse PvP and PvE, those players will be able to carry over the skins into PvE.
Then, when they walk around with those skins in PvE (Let’s assume they play pve), the following conversation might occur:
A: ”Wow! You got Infinite Light? This sword looks amazing, but I costs tons of gold. How did you get it?”
B: ”Actually, I got this weapon in PvP. I didn’t have to spend much gold.”
A: ”That’s amazing! I think, I should try out PvP as well!” (Here’s your incentive)
B: ”Uhm, wait. You can’t get this weapon anymore in PvP. ANet made it so you only can get Dungeon stuff out of PvP now.”
I mean, seriously. The “new” reward system is just an altered (not even better) way to get the “old” items, we already were able to get via pvp, but you restricted their number even more.
Every tried to use the skills you have as a moa or tried to dodge?
The argument against this was always the possibility to abuse the system.
Just imagine a 6th Team member in TeamQ observing every stop of the oposing team via spectator and telling his team via Teamspeak.
My question is, will this Legendary crafting in PVP require max crafting skills or will it be doable strictly through the means of PVP?
You will be able to gain probably most of the parts for Legendaries out of PvP.
But you still need 100% map exploration for the gift of exploration and you also need this WvW stuff.
Don’t ask for the logics behind this.
I don’t know much about Legendary crafting, but probably you shoudln’t need a crafting level above 400. Even with 400 I’m not sure.
Everything, even Wolf finisher is in my eyes still more exclusive than any finisher from the gem shops.
Those have absolutly nothing to do with you progression in the pvp system. They may look cool, but there’s 0 prestige in them.
I don’t have read anything about this, but I don’t think so.
They basicly remove pvp gear so what exactly should the glory vendor sell?
Not to mention that you can’t earn glory anymore.
I probably shouldn’t be reading the forums at 10:45 on a Friday night….but I am.
1) Thanks for talking about this in such a constructive manner. A lot of you guys are bringing up great points with highly cogent logic. I like. I like how you’re bringing up possible issues in multiple game types as well, kudos for espousing a holistic point of view.
2) There are going to be a lot of changes, as we’ve stated before on the 15th. The meta will probably shift a lot for many areas of the game, so we’ll have to see how things shake out.
3) Please keep the talking open, rational, and with as little salt as possible – you guys are rocking. We are listening, and I’ll check this thread next week to see how the conversation goes.
Thanks for keeping it civil.
/Chapout
That’s exactly why I started a thread about how you guys handle feedback.
There is almost no arguing in this thread. Everybody is against Perplexity runes.
You said yourself, that the thread is construcitve and brings up important points.
But nevertheless, you still refuse to do anything and stick with your own opinion.
Your 3 bulletpoints basicly are:
“1) Thanks for well reasoned & important feedback
2) But we wont change anything
3) But keep on talking, even though we wont do anything”
At least, PLEASE tell us, what exactly we have to do, so you actually don’t bring Perpelexity into PvP
Does this thread need to have a certain amount of ppl writing in it?
Does it have to reach a certain lengt?
You will only get a chest per rank to 81. You will not get more than (81 – current rank) chests. Rank/Title achievements are unchanged.
What?
This sounded different in the Ready Up.
Also it doesn’t seem fair at all.
FINALLY!!!
After weeks of complaints, ANet removed the most hated map in spvp!!!
Oh, wait. They removed Capricorn?
…
WHAT??!
Ok, no kidding.
Yes, Underwater combat wasn’t balanced.
Yes, Not very much ppl liked the map.
But have you seen anybody complaining about the map in the last month?
Nobody!
FYI People were complaining about Skyhammer, not kittenin Capricorn.
I mean, Capricorn is Hot Join only, so who cares about its quality?
Instead of removing Capricorn, why didn’t you remove Skyhammer?
I suppose, the only reason why you deleted Capricorn was, that you made you “great” pvp Build and than realized, you forgot to make an option for underwater weapons.
So you simply removed Capricorn.
That’s also skewed by the entire hotjoin debacle.
They can’t fix the skyhammer exploit, unless they reset everyone rank to 0 which would cause a huge uproar.
When Skyhammer exploit was more present, they (I think, it was Allie) told us, that they exactly knew, who and how much they exploited Skyhammer.
The reason for this is to put both PvE and PvP players on the same level once the 4/15 build hits. So PvP only players wouldn’t be the only people that need to run the dungeons on 4/15.
But PvP only players are still the ones who have to level & gear a char up to the required level for the story modes.
(edited by EverythingEnds.4261)
I’m also not that happy about the changes.
The players which are interested in GW2 pvp already play it…or even left already.
By making “promising” rewards in PvP, you will only attract the farm crowd.
Like it was with the Halloween Finishers Achievement.
Instead of playing, a lot of players gathered on an empty server stood in a circle and finished each other.
Not to mention private Arenas. If Dufly is right, those will reward almost as much as TeamQ. So buy a private arena, set match time and score limit to the bottom and max out player size and here you go with your very private guild farming spot. Skyhammerfarm 2.0
You will need to run the dungeons in story mode AFTER the update to permanently unlock the tracks.
Please no.
Why doesn’t it count if you did this already once?
Why do you force pvp players into PvE?
What about skins like runic blade and dwayna’s longbow? Will those be obtainable in PvP again?
I also would lie to know this.
And what about skins which aren’t obtainable via PvP yet. Will there be ways to get those?
(edited by EverythingEnds.4261)
I don’t know much about Dragon Ball, but they said, that the rank system will work like the Level System in PvE.
So you can keep “ranking up” when reached rank 80 and every time you get another rank chest.
This will also work for those who already have now more rank points than R80 will require in the future.Yea you can still get skill points for each level beyond R80 in PVE, but you don’t see any way of telling if a PVE player reach R80x4 times or something. Be cool to have some indication or icon or title as such.
But then, why changing it at all?
Whats the point of redoing the rank scale, when in the end, you still have sth left.
Not to mention, how I understood that the rebalancing will work, we would get a lot of ~t20 Dragons. If Rank 55 is already enoug for getting Dragon, players with rank 60 / 70 will, thanks to the way the required Rpoints increase, have enough rank points in order to get so far.
I don’t know much about Dragon Ball, but they said, that the rank system will work like the Level System in PvE.
So you can keep “ranking up” when reached rank 80 and every time you get another rank chest.
This will also work for those who already have now more rank points than R80 will require in the future.
I would love this.

So, as runes are not anymore bound to an armor.
Does this mean, I can fight nude, without having any disadvantages? :O
Hopefully dulfy will have the info up soon. I just missed the stream.
What is the timer on the 6th effect?
How did they change Perplexity?
The timer is kitten . …
Lol… the timer is kitten . Stupid censorship O.o

again:
The timer is FourtyFive-stop the fk censoring every kitten - Seconds

What, ANet implements sth on the cost of players who dedicated a lot of time to pvp?
What a suprise. They usually never do this.
One of the things that I loved about Guild Wars 2 at launch was that if you didn’t want to PvP, you didn’t have to PvP. Everything about sPvP was kept separate from the PvE game, and so if you had no interest in PvP then you weren’t made to feel that you were “missing out” by not having access to certain rewards that might also be appealing to a PvE player.
I guess my concern after reading that blog post is, what methods will be available for pure PvE players to earn the rewards talked about in the post?
I think, you understood sth. wrong there. ^^
If you play pve, you still can only play pve.
Just, if you only played pvp before, you now will also have to play pve.
There is nothing “pvp exclusive” they only are implementing much harder pvp ways to for getting the same stuff ppl already get from pve.
Of course they will get their Dragons.
Silly you.
Haven’t you understood that pvp players are the lowest group in ANets hierarchy?
Even lower than exploiters.
Every Skyhammer farmer will be Dragon and every PvE player will look faboulas in PvP with his Legendary and all his fancy skins.
In the meantime, ANet will almost delete everything PvP players have worked on.
We already got a new Game mode: TDM.
But is TDM not basicly just a simple map without capture points, which however still took them 1,5 years to come up with?
WHAT?!!!!
WHO SAID THIS?
STOP LIYING YOU PIECE OF SHT!
ALL HAIL TO ANET!!!
HYPE!!!!
So basicly the ppl who will be in the best spot after this patch will be those who mostly played PvE?
As they will have the most amount of gold and gems and those are the only things you now need to get anything in PvP.
Great!
Hype!!!!
So the changes to PvP:
-Instead of getting full acces to traits, skills and amuletts etc. you now will have to pay for them in PvP.
-Instead of “Style” being tied to you progression in the rank sysem, you now can simply buy everything or use you PvE gear
-Everything achieved via PvP in the past e.g already unlocked skins, glory boosts, crafting mats will become worthless.
Awesome!
But at least they are fixing the meta with proper Balancing. Oh, wait…
Oh, I also forgot, how much I appreciate it, that we now have to play dungeons (story) and the Living story for getting proper acces to dungeon armors.
(edited by EverythingEnds.4261)
Not to Mention that Condi Shatter will also profit from illusionary retribution.
Hitting with 3 clones will apply (independet of which shatter skill used) 3s of 3 stack Confusion and 4s of 3 stacks torment.
I suppose Sceper /X Condi Shatter Build will become a realreal pain in the kitten to fight against.
I’m also rly disappointed.
A lot of the PvE changes seem very nice but they almost did nothing to PvP.
Trait, Rune and Sigil Changes are sth with simply effects the whole game.
All we got, was a new map…without capture points and called “TDM”.
I mean, wasn’t there a time, where ppl expected Custom Arenas to give them the feature to turn of Capture points and thus make “cusom TDM Arenas”?

Will there be ways to tune of the Legendary effects in PvP?
Unicorns flying over the screen probably will add even more effect overload to the screen.
There are several build concepts that are incredibly viable for tpvp play as a mesmer after the patch on the 15th.
Consider Bountiful Disillusionment, which will essentially bring back shatter mesmers. There’s a lot of survivability available through this avenue. If you were to combine that with something like a 1/0/6/0/6 build with Maim the Disillusioned, it could potentially generate a pretty substantial shatter concept. Especially if you utilized Staff as a clone factory and spec’d for condition damage. (Keep in mind staff now gets two sigils.)
Alternatively, a 6/0/0/1/6 build concentrating on interruption with Power Block and Disruptor’s Sustainment utilizing Halting Strike, Sw/P and Signet of Distraction could be extremely useful.
People QQ about professions being “in a bad place” when they don’t consider the roles in which those professions are more inclined to excel, and instead attempt to play the profession as another role. Mesmer is a very versatile class. I personally wish there was a little more viability as a support role, but perhaps with Distruptor’s Sustainment a full mantra support build will be more viable. Mantra of distraction for the Healing Power boost coupled with Mantras of Concentration and Resolve, Restorative Mantras, Mantra Mastery and Harmonious Mantras. (6/1/0/6/0) Also, consider Runes of the Monk and Sigil of Benevolence.
I don’t see very much potential in a Shatter Build without DE.
And Interrupt Builds get eaten alive by thieves, as they are almost immune to interrupts.
And even if Maim the Disillusioned will be a “good” trait, it is applying torment. That’s one of the most hated Conditions of all Condis out there.
I mean, Hambow Warrior and Thieves are also viable now and PU is good for Duels, as long your enemy can’t run away or you have to hold a point. But almost nobody likes those builds.
I don’t want to see torment Mesmer be the next Cheese Meta stuff.
because of soon™
Mesmer itself actually isn’t that bad.
The common shatter Build hasn’t seen a nerf / change in a very long time, but the upcomming vigor gain nerf and nerf to DE will hit all mesmers.
The reasons you don’t see many Mesmers (besides PU) is, because they simply get outperformed by other proffessions like Thieves.
Lockdown Mesmer rly seemed like a new exciting Mesmer tree. However, the Interrupt/Lockdown system is basicly Offense and Defense for the Mesmers at the same time. Not to mention that interrupting thieves is extremly hard and even if it works, it is not very effective.
So the reason why lockdown mesmers probably never will become “meta” is, because they have a lot of problems dealing with thieves.
The reason, Mesmer is in a bad spot, are not necessarily nerfs, it is that every other profession seemed to have gotten buffed.
Oh god, plz no.
Finishers already can be interrupted by CC.
Making Blinds & Aegis able to stop stomps, the whole mechanic would become almost worthless.
Yes it was free.
Not to mentioned that everybody of us payed ~50 bucks for the game.
And I don’t have the feeling that very much of this money went into pvp developement.
Makes a pvp tournament and rewarding the best 5 pvp palyers with Legendaries

Hot Join Heros -now come with Legendaries!

There it is.
Brace yourselves, pve heroes with legendarys are coming to pvp.
So, as soon you have built one legendary, you can give the skin to every char you want for only some transmutation charges?
Lol. Much Legendary, Such Unique.
They also said they will unify the wardrobe. Nothing mentioned on how to get all those cool skins only available in pve.
I hope they don’t rly make pvp player pay for changing their pvp appearence.
That would almost be the death blow to pvp.
The new amount of “Red posts” is nice.
The problem with those is, that there are so many thread already where you guys write stuff like “thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it” etc. but the fact that none of those things get change, it almosts feels like the gentle version of “Screw you, guys”.
And what about infiltrators strike?
The change to PW itself doesn’t seem bad, as you now can evade it more easily.
But there’s still infiltrators strike.
So you get a 1s Immobilize combined with a 2s PW. Making you probably eat 50% of the PW for sure.
If you remove the stun, the question is, will the PW start immediatly?
This would give the thief a even better evade on demand, as it doesn’t have a precast anymore.
S/P might turn into the “melee version” of shortbow.
Spam autoattack until enemy uses a strong skill, than evade the skill (and deal a lots of damage).
I suppose, you talk about WvW, as the ferocity changes wont affect spvp?
