HoT and Mesmer weapon

I just don’t get what the shield will bring to the Mesmer.

Mesmer isn’t that “tanky”. Thus, a defensive weapon could come into ones mind when think what to give to the Mesmer.
However:
How “good” could those defensive shield skill ever be? You have to consider, that for going “tank”, a Mesmer would probably take Sword/Shield.
But in my opinion, this means that we would never receive sth like a “full defense”/Block Skill on the shield, since we would have to “almost invulnerable” skills in one weaponset.
In addition, one of the 2 Shield skill is going to be a phantasm skill. So which one will it be? There is already a “shield phantasm”, it’s the phantasmal defender.
Furthermore, illusions disappear if their target dies, which makes them not a really good source for a proper defense (especially regarding pvp).

The next problem is, that Mesmer still has only one melee weapon: Mainhand sword.
So what exactly is the point of the shield, if you still can’t play full melee?

But maybe, they will do with Mesmer shield sth like with Mesmer Greatsword and relate it to a combate style not typical for this kind of weapon.

Meh.

For me, the main impacts are the changes to iLeap, iElasticity and iWarden. But those are more some kind of bug fixes and not buffs. This doesn’t mean they are bad, it only means it’s nothing which should actually be worth so much attention like an own video for them.

The buff to Mindstab is nice but not overwhelming.

The buff to Scepter #1 is a little bit too much for my taste. I’m in general no fan of condi builds, but Torment is in my opinion the worst condition in the game. Giving it to a autoattack seems a little bit over the top.

I also dont like the change too mimic.
The changes a rarely used, but therefore “creative” skill into a far less individual / characteristic skill which probably also wont get used more than the original mimic.

Of course there might be nice combos with mimic + nullfield/arcane thievery, but you wont see them very much since mesmers with 1 stunbreak will probably spend most of the time with waiting to respawn.

The aoe change to mantra of distraction seems very nice, but in my opinion it misses the point. The main issue for interrupt mesmers are mostly the uninterruptable thieves, but the aoe change of the mantra wont to anything to this.

Finally we can steal, i ment copy, back the boons, thieves are “stealing(F1)” from us.

I honestly think, the new mimic is kind of lame. Yes, the old one was rarely used, but at least, it was a “creative” skill. Like Chaos said “dollar store arcance thievery” (btw: who is using arcance thievery a lot?).

I honestly don’t know, what’s the point of the new mimic.
Versus professions which don’t rely much on boons —> useless
Versus profession which rely much on boons --> ok, you now also have those boons. But this won’t weaken your foe, which will also have better ways to maintain his boos / profit from them.

The new mimic is just another skill which relies too much on your foe to fullfill certain requirements in order to be usefull.

If he admits several times that he intentionally afks in matches, you should consider banning him from the game. But either Anet doesn’t care, or they don’t read the forums.

Confessing to a crime does not make you guilty of it. I can go tell the cops that I killed my wife but unless they have proof that I actually did I won’t go to jail for murder. Unfotrunate in this case.

I disagree with Healing Surge. I think it’s a very versatile heal which can be used both offensively and defensively, which is great.

Want a huge heal? Save your adrenaline.
Want to pump out more damage/stuns/burns/whatever? Sacrifice some healing to do that.

I have to agree.
Mesmers Ether Feast works pretty much the same way. Its heal increases with the amount of illusions up. It is also the Healing skill most Mesmers use. (This includes Shatter Mesmer)

Indeed. We just had an enormous PvP update with wardrobe and all the trait and trinket flipping JUST (well, mainly) for the PvP guys!

Since the wardrobe is a thing PvP guys mostly profit of, lol sure.

It’s not like there was already a (better) wardrobe in the PvP before the patch.
And of course, all those PvE guys bringing their legendaries into PvP are also a huge benefit to PvP players.

A game mode like this would probably increase a lot of “cheese” stuff.
Bunker enigs will become (even) more popular, since capping a point becomes even more important.
Bunkers in general, or all those “tanky DPS-specs” might also become more popular, since dying in this mode has harder consequences than in normal conquest.

Bunkers might be even more popular, since sth. like 3 bunkers +2 thieves might be very strong.
Send a bunker to every point and let the thieves focus fire an pick out members of the other team. Due to one of your bunkers on every point, enemies wont be able to respawn.

Does ANet even read this forum?

If this isn’t even a complaint, why are we talking about this?

There are bazillions of bugs / issues in pvp players ARE complaining about. So maybe we / ANet should focus on those.

And btw.: If I remember right, when you get turned into a moa while stomping, the stomp also wont be cancelled…and ranger pets stomping makes absolutly no sense.

Warr stances are long cooldown also.. And you need to blow more to get the same.. And even then its still possible to remove stability boon

Edit: @ Anton: that’s actually possible. Shattermes can rip boons within a whimp and interrupt you with another shatter.

Sure it’s possible, but you need:
1) be a shatter mesmer
2) have no cd at shatters
3) be near enemie at 240 distance
4) enemie must have stability icon in good for you place at buff line
5)you must see stabilty and don’t fail interrupt into it
6)use interrupt skill (which means it not has cd and your weapon swap has no cd)
7)don’t fail all this and do it in 3 sec

Step 1: start rezzing your teammate
Step 2: see e.g. warrior starting stomp
Step 3: Mirror Images + Mindwrack / Cry of Frustration / Distorion —> remove up to 5 boons almost instant
Step 4: Diversion
^
Without even stopping rezzing your ally.
A good shatter Mes wont fail to do a shattercombo within 3s.
Nevertheless, you are right, that it actually requires some resources.

In addition:
I don’t know about Elixir S, but Mistform makes you lose a point. In addition, while using Elixir S / Mistform, eles & engis aren’t able to use other skill. Pretty much the opposite to warriors running around on points, hammerswinging, while being immune to everything thanks to 3 stances at the same time.

Reaching an immunity time of 4s with distortion, requires a Mesmer to have illusionary persona (30 pts into illusions-line) and in addition, having 3 illusions up to sacrifice. Using distortion takes away a big part of a Mesmers offensive potential, since they either rely on phantasms, or clones for shatters and also makes them unable to hold a point. Not to mention that Berserker Stance also refills a Warriors Andrenaline and there even increases their offensive potential.

Yes, Elixir S, Mistform and Distortion are better for savestomping than 3 stances, but there are also lot of situations where the stances are better.

Don’t worry. It’s intended that thieves don’t have to bother with LoS. Or Interrupts. Or Chill.
Since exceptions prove the rules, there has to be one of the 8 professions which can ignore all this stuff.

So being close to your team is now bad? I did runs last night with my usual group, I ran turrets being lazy we had a guardian, a theif, and two eles. one ele used scepter, but stayed near us cause he knew if I laid down turrets, he was gonna put down a fire field, and we would get 18/21 stacks of might. which make the fight MUCH faster. I find it funny that playing as a team to you is counter intiutive.

You can range a fight without being 1200 units away. Those weapons reward you for being miles away from a fight, if you get downed, harder to rez. you dont get buffs/healing circles/turret buffs all the way over there.

Simple fact of the matter is, the game even before the “stacking” meta because a thing, clearly rewarded you being near friends.

I don’t say being close to your team is bad, I say it is bad that this is possibile.
I’m really happy that GW2 doesn’t have Trinity, however, being able to run a dungeon with a full zerker (aka “DDs”) group, who are fighting in melee range seems pretty bad design.
Yes, teamstacking is great since it allows mightstacking and maximazes aoe boons / heal.
However, the fact that the positions of teammates are decided more by maxing out boons and are rarely boss specific is in my opinion bad.

Hell, why does this game even feature weapon swapping, when you only need to stay in melee? To optimize some skill rotations? It should be more that there are phases where you aren’t able to do melee / ranged damage, or where zerker builds have to into ranged combat since they would die in melee.
Not just “ok, we push the enemy into that corner over there, everbody gets there, lets stack some might and in 10s the boss is dead”.

The only poor thing is, that GW2 pve allows teamstacking in 1 point and fighting melee to be that efficient.

It is not that Greatsword or Longbow enourage poor group etiquette, it is the bad design, which allows your whole group (inclduing “glassy” DDs) to stand togther on one point in melee range of the enemy.

Not Mesmer GS or Ranger LB should be changed, the dungeon design should be changed into no allowing melee cuddleing.

I’d like to add, that since it OS is a launch, it also enables you to launch downed enemies from a point.
This is also another very strong feature of the skill.

Only watched half of the video.
I think the fight of you vs. guard & thief pretty much showed the problem of your build:
There’s no point of “pointholder-build” if it only can hold a point vs. 1 player.

I appreciate your attempt to make some kind of “bunker mesmer”, but this usually won’t work 1 vs. 2 or sth.

Just think about it:
Why would you need a Spec, which is focused on holding a point 1 vs. 1?
You could also just use another good spec which allows you to win 1 vs 1 fights (and thus lets you keep the point) but therefore also brings other benefits to your team.

In addition, I think the list of skills which have to face the enemy and which don’t is not fair at all.
Best example: Grenade kit, where the engi is able to throw nades backwards.

@Carpboy: as Exosferatu said: for testing. If you are trying / comparing differenc skills / combos / builds, etc. it can be pretty annoying if you always have to wait for a long cd skill to be available again.

I acutally like moa, since it hard counters AI builds. I also don’t think it’s cheap, or poor or anything. If sb decides to run an AI build, he deserves to get moad.

In addition, moa can be very helpfull to quickly clean a bunker from the capture point.
It is also very usefull, if hostile players use morphs like plague, lich, or tornado.

Because…. provided you’re solid with positioning/CC, the first 20-30 matches on skyhammer are fun.

Then it becomes very irritating, very very fast.

Until you encounter horrible Matchmaking and all the skyhammer troll specs.

I’m pretty sure, Hammbow also didn’t rise immediatley after the warrior buffs.

I used to run Sword/Sword, however I also switched back to Sword/Pistol.

If the sword block would be usefull vs. backstabs, probably every Mesmer would run /sword.
However, as it isn’t /Pistol just seems better, as the Stun it provides seems better like /swords daze

On top of that, it does nothing to balance the score for the losing team, or to reward players who were auto-swapped into the losing team, who have contributed to their original team’s victory.

I’m pretty sure, autobalanced players still receive the win bonus.

The fact that you can abuse autobalance was introduced when ANet gave players the option to choos the team they want to join. Thus, autobalance itself isn’t the issue.

You don’t see cloned tornades, lichs, or even non-mesmer clones so rare, since situations like this almost never happen.

I don’t have any issues with 5.
Trying to ninja a NPC is a high risk undertaking, as well as it is high risk if you go for the NPC.

Ninjaing with 1 autoattack is probably pretty rare. Most of the time, you usally try to make the “last” dmg spike which kills the NPC, so you get the kill.

What I also would like to see fixed / explained is sth like “immobilizing players” while dodging.
How is this even possible? Either the player dodges and doesn’t get hit by the immobilize, or he gets immobilized which prevents him from dodging.

Why?

You have 2 weapon sets, and even though I don’t play much PvE, I think most Mesmers use a sword.
So hit them with GS and if they come close switch to sword and kill them.
