15s CD on withdraw, instantly cleanses all that chill.
The they just shadow step off and 5 seconds later are at another point.Or they just blind chain you since all the attacks are slow as hell.
In reaper shroud the skills aren’t slow at all.
2: If you manage to intterupt a heartseeker through black power (EASY)
3: Decent usage of pulls
4: Immob gets duration reduction with trait
5: LoS healing / Stab healing (if you wait for their steal to land ofc)
I admit, I was really mad about the lack of condi build love, and missing group support…
…but now, I see reaper as being a rather decent tank. The (coming soon) vamp aura should be enough to get us into groups. I’ve worked out condi builds that I like. All-in-all I’m starting to see necro as being in a good place.
A lot of people are thinking it’s too good, but looking at what guards get with the massive burn stacking in multiple builds (my hammer guard is going to melt-faces), and the shatter mesmers that instantly respawn both a clone and a phantasm after using shatter (good god!)… I don’t see necro needing any nerfs.
So I’m feeling content, I think it’s looking good.
…the shouts are worthless, but the old utilities are looking more useful than ever, so I’m ok with that.
Now I’m just waiting for the release…. that and the druid reveal… I don’t care what druid does it’s gonna be awesome.
Not all the shouts look aweful imo.
- Remove 2 boons of each player of the enemy team (Probably stab priority) and insta 10 stack of vuln on everyone within reach + you become UNBLOCKABLE
- A shout that gives Chill & removes conditions from yourself (with a huge cast time on it tho, but that one might become instacast because of reasons)
- 12sec Chill + 2 sec stun on every target within reach → Nice
L2P issues already

I main necro, played necro since release. 5k+ on only necros. You can’t tell me that the profession has problems :p
Emergency Action is Needed to Save Necros
—We did not get group value. As the only profession routinely kicked from dungeons, we’re in trouble.
—We did not get mobility. To add insult to injury, the Reapers attack speed is laughable. How are we ever supposed to catch anyone that’s ranged?
—Terror-mancer is dead. This cannot be allowed to happen.
—We can assume minion AI is still broken. They’d be crowing about it if it was working….
—The shouts… If they don’t offer condition removal or mobility, no one will ever use them. Can we get a teleport here? “Nothing-can-save-you” could sure use a 1200 range one…
—Necromancers are not condition masters, and the Reaper seems very weak when it comes to condition removal. Now that burning stacks, conditional removal is more important than ever.
—Greater Marks, Soul Marks, Barbed Precision, Lingering Curse, Terror, Master of Terror, Reaper’s protection, Mark of Evasion. Parasitic Contagion… Too many hard choices.
Reaper is a great theme, but this isn’t going to work…

5 enemies is rare, 3-4 group fights are very common. + It’s a 3/4 cast time (HALF of CC) which makes it WAY harder to interrupt, because, be honest at advanced opponents you can never take the heal in a groupfight unless lucky LoS / wurm teleport

I am theorizing some builds right now. But at least on paper a reaper can actually be very resistant to interrupts in HoT. Blinds worry me a bit too. So I think Reaper’s Onslaught (to make you attack faster in Reaper’s Shroud) might be a good choice.
However, combining Staff and GS might create some sick combos, once you got on top of your foe.
You’re talking about blinds, when you can easily spread them with a shout & Death shroud provides some fast autoattack

I main necro since the release, 5k+ h on that profession, for me it feels powerful once you master positioning, rotations and find the right teammates to play with. BUT once you compare it to the Reaper, the necro goes out in clouds and I just can’t wait to play this spec and outmaster it and give more viable support on my allies, they won’t have to drag me through all those resses because I was always main target. No now I will help them at peeling etc.

The hood is different.
I’ve been wanting a hood like this for a very long time for Necromancer’s. We have some hoods for light armor, but none of them cover the face in darkness like this does (I’m hoping this hood does so, and it’s not an effect from the video).

Necromancers finally get projectile defense like Wall of Reflection? Damage blocks and Aegis? Access to vigor – and the ability give it to other people? Stability and the ability to give it to allies? Mobility via teleports on two skills and a utility?

I have played 5k hours on necro & I agree, we aren’t that bad, people just keep on complaining about everything that goes, asking for stuff to change, bla bla..
The only thing I’d like is regen in deathshroud, but with the 3 trait line changes I will have that anyway so I’m happy. This forum is overly depressing, complain when there’s no need to
1. Death’s embrace is a new uprising PvP trait (power necro ONLY) because it makes your downstate OP, ex. You get downed, have 50% hp of downed bar left, manage to down ANY profession 1v1 and win the downfight EASY – aka no use in PvE at all
2. Hemophilia is probably the better choice in PvP for Terror necro’s (the other one being weakening shroud)
3. Spitefull talisman is a must-have in PvE since the best damage weaponset is D/F
4. Path of corruption over the other grandmaster playing as a condi build, BUT not used for corrupting stability (atleast not most of the time) because it’s the last one on the priority list. And people who use stability tend to have more then 2 boons.
Not worth it imo.
You need to replace either PoC or GM/RP. The thing is, PoC corrupts 2 boons on top of the chill and bleeding , aka very nice
GM gives your marks the unblockable effect (good vs medi guard healing/engineer gear shield/goes through aegis)
What do you guys do against this? It’s like a permanent lock out from every skill you have. Even if you stun break they just dump another daze on you. God forbid there happens to be a thief around spamming daze as well.

PvP – No underwater weapons (rip. Capricorn) – who uses smoke screen unless 100% new to pvp ? + not a real block as it can be melee’d – I also main necromancer, but if you want to climb higher ranks using a team, you better make sure to have a decent comp else it’s kittened anyway (or you can faceroll turret engi) – try terror as it is more groupviable with all kinds of comps

How can cancer be a poke of fun ? & Yeah old leaderboards when MM was viable, been there done that but that’s a long time ago. + We’re unique, perhaps not all time used on high end pvp but hey, meta is only what the current champions play with most of the time (medi guard with hammer), if The Abjured would’ve won we would finally be in the meta hurraaay ! Next to that, we’re only low on group support agreed on that one, but if we look to allround damage it’s not bad at all. Okay we’re low on blocks and invulns, but it’s not like we can’t live without it ? It’s not that we are the worst profession instantly. I appreciate all the frustrations of everyone, but it keeps getting worse and worse when it’s not that bad at all o.o

I’m pretty sure almost everyone will play Revenant when it drops, it’s the new thing so everyone is going to want to learn its abilities, traits etc. I’m not going to jump straight into it though, as I’m sure there will be a MILLION of them on day one. I’ll try it later, when the “Ohh new class, must use!” has died off. I’ll stick with my Necro for now.
Specializations will curb that a bit. It’s the one thing keeping my eye on Necrocancer.

You’re wrong, I have no idea why you would say RIP fleshwurm (or necromancer ffs) it still works on our old teleport spots in pvp + you can now even teleport on places that previously you couldn’t (escape mechanic ?) I’d say thank you anet for not nerfing our only ‘safe’ escape option in game.
Probably it will last for 1-2 months and then it could already be completed, but remember they’ll have money now for frequent updates (alteast I hope)
For a long time, Berserker has been looking shady for open world content. It started getting sketchy to run it around the time of the Tequatl Rising update, and from then on, more content has been released that has made it less viable. Now we’ve seen the stuff in HoT, if I see anybody in my open world parties to do world bosses/events running Berserker, in HoT, they’re getting kicked. Im not picking up corpses off the floor for half of HoT.
I think Berserker will still be good in dungeons, but for open world content: Not appropriate, not viable, buy a real armour set.
Or you can just learn to dodge

Now, in tPvP (I hope) your goal is to end up teaming with other people, communicating by voice chat and winning your matched, by using a very decent build, that has good solo options + a very high group support, as conquest is a gamemode where group battles (AND WINS) are almost the most important key factor of a match. There is a reason you see staff in every ’meta’ build for necromancer because it’s the best thing that has ever happened to us (sadly our projectile on 1 is still a bit slow) but next to a couple of weaknesses it’s IDEAL for Chill+Poison (Enemy player downed and they they try to ress) - Putird Mark (Hello ? condiremoval ? Anyone ? Excuse me even, CONDI TRANSFER !¡!¡!) - Reaper’s mark (FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR) And now, after all, argument will probably be: ha if they got stability you can’t fear, but that’s why people run dem Corrupt Booooon !!!/WoC
I think you need to rethink your build sadly, don’t mean to demotivate you, but you won’t hold on top tier level, unless you think of playing unranked soloqueue for all eternity..
It is kind of hilarious that the new class has boon removal, has the ability to control conditions, has genuine sustain, has the ability control opponents, has a ton of unblockable stuff and is mobile in combat.
It is exactly what necromancer should of been. Necromancer is fundamentally flawed to me. The whole class needs to be reworked and almost redesigned. The only hope for that was an expansion. Seriously, we should be very glad we are getting an expansion. It is the only way necromancer will get any of the changes required. Hopefully….and I mean this sincerely…..hopefully we can get a necromancer which is a bit more fun to use than the current flawed version. A working set of minions, corruption skills which matter, blood magic siphoning options. Death shroud generation which is on EVERY weapon and every trait line.
The only chance we have for a fun necro is this expansion. Secondly, if they do not fix necromancer we can just all roll revenant. I probably will just ditch necro completely. Revenent seems 100% my play style (because it is the necro play style) so we can just all reroll to a class which hopefully isn’t broken and whose expectations aren’t SO low that it is the worst class in almost every aspect of the game (and has been for most of the 2.5 yrs of the game)
I think you have sand in your kitten, there’s nothing wrong with the necromancer profession, we are n1, we do kitten all victims and we have our lord and saviour Nos to prove it.
Those are just facts which remove any bias of people who might say I need to “l2p”.
