I think you have l2n issues OP
Here are some tips:
• Go to 1v1 / 2v2 servers and learn animations,rotations,……..
• Find experienced players and ask them what to dodge and what to interrupt and what to tank
• Watch Nos’ stream all the time
• Rotation is the key in all matches, with flesh wurm you can easily guard home while you’re on mid helping aswell (a decap isn’t as bad as a fullcap)
• Evade 1v1’s against Shoutbows/D&D cele eles unless you are decent/actually good at duelling and know what and how.
• Run double stunbreaker and catch people off guard to turn over fights
• Evade groupfights (2v2/3v3+ depending on skill level unless you can freecast at sides)
• Stop complaining on forums and play the game already + if you’re really unhappy about necro, stop playing it and go to something else that gives you more opportunities.

Everyone is on the hype train to leave necromancer and choo choo away on the newly reborn revenant. But don’t forget.. necromancer is love (terror) , necromancer is life (death) , it will have its uses and stuff, but I think everyone is just overexited because it’s a new professions and so. But I think against the condi-revenant a necromancer will be superior (atleast once we know skills-animations and so)

The funny thing is, the only toughness the classic terrormancers get is from 4 points in our toughness trait, we only have much hp due to carrion amulet. 14,9k extra health from deathshroud which isn’t even full most of the games due lack of generation as a terrormancer (only 2 skills & traited spectral armor) , I think medi guards should just engage/blind and damage the kitten out of a necro. We only have 3 fears (1 passive proc every 60 seconds, the others need to be landed & are screwed by stability/random block (unless staff mark which is unblockable when traited), we can put up a tough fight, but if you dodge cboon/dark path/doom/locust swarm/putrid mark/ reapers mark we have a huge lack of survivability/counterattack. + you got the ability to use your elite, which a terrormancer usually won’t use because of huge CD

Get your facts straight. Taunt isn’t a revenant-only thing, new shinies will be spread through all professions.

2. Embrace the dark sounds OP right, but it only copies your own conditions to enemies, so what if you make it a reflecting duel, (5 stacks of bleeding, poison, 2 torment, 5 confusion is on a revenant, uses embrace the dark, necro gets all conditions and reflects them or eats them, who would die first ?

Who else looked at Resistence and immediately thought… Another tool for classes to secure stomps against necromancers?

Who else looked at taunt and thought… So it’s like fear but it can’t be condition cleansed and it is better because they run into your attacks instead of away from them?

Who else looked at slow and thought… It’s a good thing that necromancer cast times aren’t insanely long for no reason?

1. Secure stomps were always easy like on a warrior/engi, only thing they need to do is timed dodge roll / someone standing in between for a secure stomp. The only thing I was thinking, oh hey, a new boon = new thing to corrupt

Absolutely right, I was on my necro yesterday, and along with one Ranger (to begin with) we could not take down a solitary warrior – it’s healing was ridiculous. The guy even whispered me to ask if I was OK.

Granted, I couldn’t break combat to switch out a couple of skills that would be more suited to 1 v 1, so I was stuck with wells.

He turns his gaze to me an in a few hits my life is all gone – deathshroud too. That was with 2600 armor.

I only actively play this necro, but I’m sick of playing a character that simply has no chance whatsoever – everyone knows it which is why we’re the first target.

We are an easy target true, but that’s why we don’t engage on-point battles and stand next to it. But still, even if we’re n1 target somewhere and get massive burst, good placed flesh wurm healing should do the thing to disengage for a second.

Erm, they have some mechanical issues that can certainly be complained about. They’re ‘fine’, you could say, but they certainly lack mobility and escapes which is important as a roamer/damage dealer, regardless if its “not what necromancers are about”, they’re squishy and if they die you gave the enemy points. They don’t have much for gap closers either if you run dagger.

Their defenses are also quite subpar compared to say a zerker Ele/Guardian/Thief, and even Longbow ranger considering the signet and their incredible range (which is a defense itself). And beyond that, they’re a bit sluggish and highly telegraphed, again, unlike certain ele/thief sets ups where you can just all of the sudden take instant huge spikes of damage.

That said, maybe Necros aren’t in the wrong, maybe others need changed a bit, but people tend to enjoy the fast paced chaos of those builds, and Necro could certainly benefit from at least some of that.

More than ANYTHING though, I’d kill for a 25% LF fill up outside of combat. There’s nothing worse than starting a fight with 0% LF and missing your first few LF attacks. Its a heavy pendulum of effectiveness, and a bit too much of one if you ask me.

10% would be fine aswell, no need to overkill

Erm, not really, 10% you’d pretty much get shot right back out of it. 10% would be fine for like an MM or Condimancer who mostly just uses it for doom until later anyways, but Power, I don’t really think so.

Maybe 10% baseline and the Soul Reaping tree could additionally increase how much you start out with per point, maybe like adding 2% out of combat LF per point (12% extra) for 22% for power, and 10% for MM/Condimancers who are a bit less reliant on it. I think that’d be fair. Early Lifeforce for a power necro means the world though.

And you have to figure, a lot of times, after the start of the match, we start out with some anyways. This is mostly a start-up booster and slight boost for after you die with no lifeforce. Even 25% isn’t “omg crazy” considering we can already start some fights with up to 80-100% regardless. This is mostly a match start up bonus to get us rolling.

Ahh, excuse me, was thinking from condition perspective to land the classic combo + only from group perspective :/ been a long time since my power build time, but DS is your way to do things, sadly it still is a long cast time and limited power over range :/ (sadly we didn’t get somekind of wicked buff that gives us insane damage bursts on 1500 range every 6(?) seconds. )

I have no idea how you can complain about necros in pvp
• Main necro – 4k+ h
• 7 necros allround (4 builds, 3 looks only)
• 8 months pvp ONLY (pve is maxed out & boreddom) – 3 ds crit / 5 terrormancer

Position + double stunbreaker can make the necromancer excell in 1v1’s & 2v2’s , larger fights should be avoided or solely if you can safespot and focus down a good target, practice on duelling & avoid wasting skills like most necros do. If you really spam 1 in DS you need to rethink your strategy because you’re doing it wrong, if you survive on passive procs & not domination, try again. + run plague for as it is awesome.

PvE wise: bad idea, try out the meta D/X which gives you more allround damage & vuln stacking
PvP wise: A very good weaponset for powermancer: d/d+staff
(The condition-removal part is where the use comes in)

First thing is that it’s a proc on critical, so you either run rabid instead of carrion (no base damage & no 25k hp pool) – the extra toughness isn’t worth it imo.
-> 1 torment stack with small AoE radius on proc isn’t worth it over a easy applyable vuln stack when on staff, unless you have master timing to be on the weapon who has the sigil when you do the classic DS to geomancy combo.

I spoke to Noscoc on his stream last night and he said the same thing. Switched back to frailty since I run carrion.

Necromancer rule 1: Always listen to Nos !, Rabid used to be fun for massive bleeding stacks, etc, but now it’s all about kiting instead of real face tanking, where more HP and more direct damage always comes in handy ! Next to the fact that every celestial warrior (shoutbuild ofc)/ele has superior condi cleansing, where an extra vuln gives that extra cover for it
The only thing I would swap carrion for would be Sinister, oh wow.. I would be so happy if that ever came in pvp amulet ._.

Ring of Warding+Flesh Wurm

Last night I got trapped in a guardian’s Hammer 5 bubble. I activated Necrotic Traversal to get out (he was trying to stall me so his teammate could deccap our point), but instead of teleporting to my Flesh Wurm, I only went as far as the edge of the bubble and then got knocked down!

I knew that Flesh Wurm was a very limited teleport compared to some of the thief and mesmer ones, and I’m OK with the fact that necros are deliberately designed to have less mobility than such classes, but a teleport skill that doesn’t even let you escape situations like that… Surely, SURELY that has to be unintentional? It’s the entire point of the skill, it CANNOT be working as intended!

Well, I know the knockback if you teleport out of it, but I’ve never been stuck in it. Just bad luck/bad placement of the wurm I guess

1 new superior utility like the old ones;
→ Well of sucking: Well that pulls enemies inside because it’s like a sandpool tornado on floor
→ The epidemic of torment: AoE condition bounce skill, that gives you 3 stacks of torment and spawns a bouncing orb that applies 2-4 stacks of torment to each of the enemies it touches
→ Minion of soul reaping : Gw1 jagged horror lookalike that has scythe claws, does decent damage and 2-5% ds on each hit
→ spectal tank mode: Give 5 seconds of stability and 25% chance to concert every incoming condition into a boon (also 5s)
→ Signet of BOOM: Become a ghost like thing that’s invuln for 2 sec and has increased movement speed, when effect ends, you get AoE explosion for like 9000 and stuff
→ New healing: no need because CC is fair enough imo
→ New elite: Well/Ranged minion/Corruption/Signet

I got 7 necros at this moment so I can say to most of these posts:

necros are the most awesome and n1 profession ever imo
PvE: Just go with the zerker flow Dagger/X and Scholar and you should be fine by practice, if you want to fit in with the speedclear wannabes and listen to how awesome everything is that they kill (brainless mobs) you should roll something else, Anet made us not be able to fit into these types of groups, just to check out where the decent players are, and not the people that like the smell of their own farts ..
PvP: either run Terrormancer or Power (Terrormancer great to counter a lot of high used builds- except for cele eles which have no counter at all)
WvW: Necros are greatly wanted in zerg because we’re cool .
. And can lay wells and stuff

To be honest, since last patch I did notice some random shots that misses my target even if I targetted them.. He was standing on my right side, Was autoattacking him, wanted to corrupt his boons, but my projectile randomly moved to the left side..

What the hell are you guys talking about? All we need is a weapon that makes our dps/dmg higher then all the other professions.. Thats it…… Nothen else is needed….. Another thing that can be done is have the greatsword attacks increase dmg based on how many stacks of bleeds and conditions are on the target.. This should be a lot of dmg…

There are a lot of issues with bleed stacks when more then 1 or 2 people stacking them.. Why not add weapons for Necro, Ranger, and Eng that increase there dmg based on how many stacks of bleed are on the target… Also this dmg doesn’t matter if its your stacks are a team members stacks… GROUP SYNERGY!!!!! …… By doing this it will make other condition builds viable again in pve…

One more thing that I have to say to you devs…… The Greatsword attacks need to hit like a truck… I’m not talking about some small as Ford truck I’m talking about a big block Chevy…. Also because we have suffered for so long make the #5 ability 1 shot any mob in the game…. Yeah I said it.. One shot any mob in the game……
I’m a Mad Necro Ranger End.. I demand that I, no we have retribution…

I bet Ele, Warrior, and Guardian’s won’t say that we Necro’s, Rangers, and End aren’t viable in pve again.. The Mad NecroRangerEng is out…..

Just try to avoid on-point fights with hambows.

It would be easy if I could do that always, but under circumstances there’s no other way and I’d like to interrupt his hammer attacks through fear but the problem is the berserkerstance/balanced stance

Ok, I’m ASSUMING you mean that with a change like this the actual effect of fear (running away) and the effect from the trait Terror (damage on fear) would be separate, thus making fear do damage even if it doesn’t cause the enemy to run away.

Now, to start, I play Terrormancer in pvp and I would love to be more powerful as everyone else would, but, unfortunately, I don’t think this change is necessary nor would it be very helpful. The whole point of Terrormancer is to keep fearing your enemy as you debilitate them with conditions and to control movement around the battlefield – if you’re a necro in pvp not running at least dark path or corrupt boon? You’re at a disadvantage. Having boon corrupts is pretty much the best thing we have going for us, especially since we can turn stability to fear and keep our enemy on the run while we murder them.

You misunderstood what I meant I guess, I want the CC to be seperate, but it’s still 1 skill , I mean for example:
I watch close, hambow comes decapping, I have to duel him but when he pops berserker stance fear won’t work anymore because it’s a condition and not because it’s a CC, if he uses balanced stance, it’s easy to cboon him , but not if he uses both berserker stance and balanced stance at once (hambow panic button) I can cboon him, but stability won’t corrupt into fear because it’s a conditon. I wan’t it to be worked on someone that’s immune to conditions tough the fear damage won’t tick then.

Ex 2. Use fear on someone with stability, no damage and no cc will occur because without the CC the ‘damage conditon’ can’t tick. Might a weird explanation, but a combo of berserker stance and balanced stance + super CC on a hammer is somethimes too much for me because I can’t dodge everything or stunbreak out of everything.

You can say now to kite him around but not that evident if you’re looking for fast results and not having an enemy roamer to pop up.

What if.
A-Net splits fear up into 2 parts. Fear as damaging condition with terror and fear as a CC skill

Why? Necromancers have a low supply of CC attacks next to fear
Fear -> Stability = CC doens’t work on stability
Fear -> Berserker stance / Diamond skin / Immunity to conditions = doesn’t work because it’s a condition

Necro vs Hambow (on point fighting tPvP) = Stunlock -> stunbreak -> low recharge on hammer gives you more stuns & no way to interrupt his attacks because he always uses Berserker stance

I know what you are going to say: Kite around the point untill his stance runs over and then burst him BUT in that time he already gets back-up (+ damage of hammer is OP high even if they wield knight’s amulet)

I doubt necros are getting a greatsword. Trahearne is often brought up as using an unusual weapon for his class but, I believe, Rytlock also has an unusual weapon for his class and I’m sure he’s not the only exception.

Charrs do have acces to a ‘hidden pistol’

I might be wrong but I noticed something:

Marjory’s greatsword autoattack is now a 3 chain-attack with the third attack having a spinning animation, as I recall it, 2 weeks ago during the first release of LS2 part 5 she had only 1 slashing-like attack.

If I’m right, why would Anet update a non-profession weapon a 3 chain-attack with special necrotic animations ?

Just exotic, save zerker for other class. I find the zerker necro rotation very boring as our main dps weapon skill is the AA.

leman and spoj are forgetting one MAJOR thing: tagging mobs in events. GL doing that without staff, unless u want to wait 35 secs between wells of suffering….

Staff is essential for mob tagging as none of our other weapons can match it for aoe potential.

Run in using DS2. Dagger 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 → more chance tagging mobs through damage then using a simply condition based staff (except for 4)

The thing is it looked like they had at least one animation for it. It had the traditional green/black after effect when she swung it and that could have been the first part of an auto attack chain.

Indeed. I think this might be a hint of Anet to us.
1. Marjory is a full human necromancer (no sylvari that got the right to wear a special sword like trahearne)
2. The greatsword gets infused with ghostly belinda sparkles (very nerco-ish)
3. Creating an new animation for a necromancer using a greatsword with the green and black slash stuff instead of adding old regular animations like the trahearne sword.

Brace yourselves. Greatsword might be coming

There will be a cleave attack for necros on daggers aswell I believe, think about it.
Ele: Cleave: 3 targets
Thief: 2 targets

The chance they will kitten us up this time is very low..

Utility skills: Well Of Suffering – Well Of Corruption – Signet of Spite

Problem: After a boss fight, my wells are on cooldown, I swap my signet of spite to my signet of the locust -> Signet of the locust is on cooldown with same duration as the one well that still has the longest recharge time

The only thing that’s kinda annoying is that we have 0 acces to 1 block/invuln/evade, but that doesn’t make me stop playing it :p

They really need a much shorter/responsive “too far from master – drop combat and teleport to master” leash.

If an enemy runs over 1200 units away from me; they cease to be a concern to me in favor of whomever is still within that range.

Its currently 1920, and that is perfectly fine to me. Waiting till an enemy is already at in my range for the minions to start getting ready to attack means by the time they reach the enemy he’s at 600 range. 1920 allows me to also contribute to fights within 1950 of home point without having to leave, which gives us a unique strength.

Situation 5: You’re running and you notice that your minions are missing ? Run further away and they will turn up again (invisible leash, I don’t know what the max range was but I tought it was around 1800-2000)

The max aggro range is 1920 I believe, it was a while ago I found it out, but its in the 1920-1980 range. Them instantly teleporting is a bit farther, I’m not sure exactly how far (a bit harder to test), but not much further than that.

Dark Path redesign. Is it good or imbalance?

Dark path is a well designed skill with path of Corruption.

Underwhelming, but really good with 30 point trait investment, and even then not Imba because of how easy the skill is to dodge.

Necromancers need some sort of teleport for mobility, and I’d love to have the scarecrow Halloween skill from lunatic inquisition, but that’s not coming.

I’m a bunker MM at home..
I’ve seen 100’s of posts about the bad AI of minions, and it’s true it has been better, but there’s a way to negate the AI problems.
Situation 1: I’m standing still @ close, enemy comes to me and I attack him: Minions respond and also attack
Situation 2a: I’m running to enemy point with my minions, I have swiftness and I outrun them → MINIONS WON’T ATTACK UNTIL THEY GET AGGRO
Situation 2b: I’m runnig with my RANGED attack minions to enemy point and summon my melee ones during the fight, Result: All Minions attack properly
Situation 2c: If you got all minions spawned and you run to enemy point: Don’t run to fast, don’t use swiftness and don’t run fully ahead of them, result: you and minions arrive at same time: they attack // if you run to fast and they don’t walk with you when you burst the enemy: they won’t attack
Situation 3: You’re fighting an enemy and minions won’t attack.. What to do ?
→ Channel attack (Dagger 2 and DS 4 work the best for me) and most of the time they’ll join the fight
Situation 4: @ the map battle of the kylo (treb map), as a MM you try to destroy the trebuchet, minions are with you but don’t attack: Same tactic as Situation 2c

sPvP :As a Necromancer, try to be a Well-Bunker // MM Bunker at home.
•As a well bunker you can easily survive 2v1 until help arrives
• As a MM Bunker you can wreck every inc 1v1 and if your know-how is good enough you can survive 2v1, damage the weakest one to low hp and stay alive until your reinforcements arrive.

PvE:
•Play a full berserker necromancer with wells and try not to die & practice at dodging, since we do not have invuln / blocks we have to survive this way (+ DS ofc)
• Play Rabid Condimancer that can solostack 20-25 stacks of bleed, they won’t mind you at all (if you won’t die all the time)

I’d like:
• Axe 1/dagger 1 (or a new weapon) with cleaving
• Axe 3, WH 4, Dagger 5: blast finisher
• Update on spectral armor to give some stability..
• DS2/ new utility skill: no casting teleport
• Staff 1: more damage
• Staff 4: more conditions removed
• Scepter 3: usefull condition skill..
• upgrade poison cloud to match the asura racial (range, less cast time, no self poison)
• Focus 4: projectile finisher
• Signet of undead: ress 5 allies instead of 3, other more usefull passive
• Signet of vamp: passive healing
• Dagger 2: faster channel

And many many more, was out of ideas atm, I’ll update when something pops in my mind

There have been some leaks of new weapon models, looking like spears, but to be worn on land : ‘polearm’ , would be awesome if nec would get one of these
