Sure, I play a Guardian. I protect my allies, and I can take a beating.
But this Legendary Royal Terrace Greeter is far too brutal. He tosses my Guardian around and into a wall, just because he can’t see me holding a pass, which I actually have!
I’m a walking fortress, and as said, I can take a beating, but this is actually starting to hurt, and my face is starting to change, and not for the better.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s being handled this way, and this have probably been brought up before. This needs to change.
I can’t imagine the people being kicked out from the air ship though… Those poor souls.

How about we say goodbye to waypoint costs huh. Now that would be a feature
WP costs are a pretty significant gold sink that I don’t think Anet would want to remove, unless they introduce some other way to combat it
They should keep, and maybe increase the repair cost then, but remove the waypoint cost.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/say-goodbye-to-armor-repair-costs-and-hello-to-free-trait-resets/
I’m going to go ahead and assume this blog post is an early april’s fool joke… they can’t be serious with this one.
Isn’t the point of April’s Fool to make the joke on April 1st and not earlier or later?
But if it is account bound, doesn’t that mean that said casual player running around with a legendary have actually accomplished it on that character or his/her main, making him/her a none casual?
This is a fifty fifty for me. A part of me says yes while the other part says no.
I don’t think it will happen though. Curtis Johnson quoted a post that explained a little bit how it is. The reason why this will probably not happen is because the same reason with Town Clothes.
Armours are built up in different ways, and mix-matching such will cause more problem than just clipping, but might cause big holes appear all over your character.
This is from a cosmetic point of view though.
I’m 100% against Elementalists running around in heavy armour with heavy armor stats, or Guardians running around in light armour with light armor stats.
I think I understand what Curtis is talking about.
There’s a huge hole in my chest.
Pretty sure it will only be something like that they are removing the Soulbound thing in items and make everything Account Bound instead.
Isn’t the point of April Fools to make the joke on April 1st and not earlier or after?
I’ve used a shield since the beta weekends and early release.
People might say it’s the most useless off-hand since it doesn’t do any damage, except the #4 skill.
But I love using the shield in WvW. Thieves that runs around and think they can hide in Shadow’s Refuge will get their kitten knocked back and revealed and they are dead because they couldn’t stealth for another 9 seconds.
Fighting near cliffs is fun to in Edge of the Mists and just knock your enemies off.
Can also be good to interrupt your enemies heal with a knock-back and then watch them try to leg it as fast as possible with every escape ability they got, but they can’t since I’m just blinking forward.
Shield might not be the most damage centered weapon but it sure is a lot of fun to play with.
If they can make one override slot they can make more. I am quite sure the reason they didn’t and are also doing this tonic ridiculousness, is to avoid people wearing “non-lore friendly” items such as khaki shorts in combat. As if it is so much better to have a horde of flaming pumpkin heads running around.
I suppose underboob thieves with cyan hair makes much more sense.
I wanted to look like this, but now I will not be able to, I will be forced to wear the whole Mad King Thorn outfit, which is sad, really.
I dare to say that there shouldn’t be any problems at all to make these town clothes into skins like the rest of the armors so we can mix and match everything.
This is a huge step back.
Do you know why this is horrible?
It makes my character bald, it looks ugly as heck.
I’m pretty kittened that they somehow decided to make tonics out of town clothes, and it forces you into the full look, so no mix and match, instead of making it armor to apply with transmutation charges.
I can’t grasp the idea why someone even would consider that.
ArenaNet, you were SO CLOSE to make something cool here, but as always you seem to kitten something up with something new.
Why, why tonics? Why? Why can’t they be armor that you can mix and match? Why did you think this was better?
I can’t even understand why, it just doesn’t make any sense at all. Why the hell would you make those town clothes tonics and not armors.
You are always so close to make something good, but even so you kitten things up.
To me, this doesn’t make any sense.
Why would they do this.
Dyes will not cost any charges. Applying dyes will be free.
I started to think about her race. Why a Sylvari? Did this whole story surrounding Scarlet become pretty meh because she was a Sylvari?
What if Scarlet was a Largos? You know, these russian accent underwater butterflies with masks. I know the story must have played out diffrently towards the end if that was the case.
Scarlet being a Sylvari, was that one of the main reasons why she wasn’t interesting enough? Imagine now Scarlet being a female Largos instead, and maybe without that Harley Quinn act, would that have been better?
The story being played out very similar to what we had, but with the underwater dragon being the target instead of Mordremoth.
1. Nah mang, a lot of folks just don’t like her because she sucks, not because of the whole evil she-weed.
2. Lel, that’ statement lad. Race would have made a slight change, but overall nah.
3. A male largos would have been better in that case, that look cooler, butter fly wings an’ all.
4. How do we even know it was the jungle dragon? was dis’ evar confirmed? alotta’ folks be sayin’ it iz dey dragon of nature but wif’ no proof on the matta. It looked like the underwater one if anything, relating even further to the largos.
It’s been confirmed that it was Mordremoth that woke up. Even in the cinematic you can see that it goes towards Brisban Wildlands. While in the woods they go underground where Mordremoth was sleeping.
Why do you write in such a weird way? It makes it really annoying to read.
‘’all is vain’’
That’s exactly how it is.
In my opinion, we can’t have Warriors running around regenerating passively even better than Guardians.
I want an aura, or at least footsteps on my legendary shield.
At least something before they decide to update the other legendaries even more.
Condi Guardians just isn’t going to be a thing. Ever. Just no.
Maybe they should give Guardians more conditions like Torment, Cripple and Chill, everything that slows enemies down, but not conditions that stacks loads.
Guardians being the profession that holds the line and stands the ground and kitten.
It’s interesting they finally managed to come up with a new Aegis source and that in a way very close to what I always wished for (on block trigger). I still do think it could simply recharge Virtue of Courage on block, that would open up Courageous Return for a remake to something useful.
Anyway it may be the first step towards a valid “blocking” build, something like mace/focus + Defender’s Flame + Guardian Runes, but I’m pretty certain it still won’t be enough.
It got a 20 seconds CD.
It was a prototype of the assault knights.
Then why would she need to make it that big and with a completely different attack style?
The only one that sounds remotely interesting is Communal Defense.
It depends on how fast the Aegis effect is added to your allies. Does it reapply fast enough that Shelter would become essentially 3 seconds of immunity for your party if you are blocking something like a 100b or flamethrower?
Still, it competes with AH and MF…
Got a 20 seconds CD I believe they said.
I still want Spirit Weapon fix and perhaps a shield fix, really.
Why did Scarlet even test the marionette to begin with?
Honestly, the only change we seems to get since release is ‘’Vigor 5 seconds this, Vigor 10 seconds that, Vigor again 5 seconds, Vigor 10 seconds now’’
Checking the live stream now, the Grandmaster traits looks very meh, imo.
Zeal
Amplified Wrath – Burning damage is increased by 33%.
Radiance
Radiant Retaliation: – Retaliation damage scales from condition damage instead of power
Valor
Communal Defenses – Grand 5 seconds of aegis to allies in 360 range when you block an attack.
Honor
Force of Will – Gain up to 300 vitality based on your level.
Virtues
Purity of Body – Resolve’s passive effects increases endurance regeneration by 15%.

At least the other professions gets changes.
The Guardian will be as stale and straight-forward just as before.
I hope, and if they aren’t, I WANT them to do something with the Spirit Weapons.
I think Spirit Weapons sounds really cool, but they have become completely useless. My fear is that they aren’t fixing them because they will become too similar to Necromancers. Well, too bad, they should have thought about that before adding such skills to the Guardian, and showcasing them in a video before release.
I really want Spirit Weapons to be useful.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/runes-sigils-and-balance-updates/
We’re bringing in a few quality-of-life adjustments for the guardian, giving them a few more options for support but also allowing for different damage options and self-sustainment. You won’t see a huge amount of balance changes to the guardian at this time, as they are generally still in a good spot. With that being said, their new grandmaster traits will explore new boundaries as they make use of the strongest player-activated burning condition in Guild Wars 2.
I pretty much guessed it. We will still get 5 Grandmaster traits to explore, though.
I can’t deny that Guardians are in a good spot, but it’s a pretty stale spot.

They should just combine Battle Pressence and this new 3k HP Grandmaster trait, really.
I’ve been thinking about the Living Story and how it played out. When we got introduced to Scarlet I didn’t mind it too much, she was pretty much the new main enemy to go for.
When they gave more lore to Scarlet, writing the short story and such, a lot of people questioned the story and how pretty silly it was. Me as well, thought that she aced the Asura colleges was pretty too much.

The story being played out very similar to what we had, but with the underwater dragon being the target instead of Mordremoth.
It exists purely for the skin, while ArenaNet can be able to earn some money from the transmutation crystals.
It’s a gold sink, leave it as it is.
Please, please, no more wings. It seems like every backpiece we get given is more sodding wings. I’m fed up of them.
We’ve got like, 3 items that looks like wings, and 2 of them almost looks the same.
Every other back piece looks different.
Those wings looks really big.
I’m a little bit unsure though, I think the way ArenaNet handles back items isn’t good enough. They disappear if you got kits like Engineer, or if you got a shield. The back items still bugs when I grab my shield from my back, the item itself follows to the arm where my shield is and then slides back to the back, and it looks really ugly.
I think ArenaNet have to fix and work much more surrounding the back items before they add much bigger stuff and effects like those wings.
Also, anyone remember Warlock Tier 6 from World of Warcraft? Well, I liked that effect, you know, where the wings appear and flaps and then fades away.
I wouldn’t mind some of the Chinese changes. As long as we don’t get any VIP Gemstore service.
I really wonder what the other 4 Grandmaster traits will be.

Spirit Summoning
Spirit Weapons are now permanent until killed.

Pls wait at least until friday and the ready up livestream before giving rude comments about the patch, you don’t know how exactly everything will play together.
Where did anyone give rude comments about this new change.
I was thinking about this too, that raising the trait line to level 30 will give new players less to do for a longer time.
I did not like this with World of Warcraft either. Even if their old talent system were just a 1 point for a ‘’increase hit chance and damage by 1% per talent point’’ it gave the illusion of progress.
Now with their new talent tree, you gain like, 1 point every 15 level for 1 new ability or passive, and it’s boring as hell.
Just this alone has me jumping and squeeling all over the place imagine all the other goodies this update will have
- The button to instantly refund all traits, previously seen only in structured PvP areas, has become game-wide.
- Refunding traits is now free across the game: refund your traits any time you’re not in combat or in a competitive PvP match!
- A minus button has been added to each trait line directly below the plus button, which allows you to remove a single trait point at a time.
Plus acquiring traits out in the open world via actual activity sounds a lot like skill capture in GW1, which was awesome <3
The sad part, but I guess it’s needed, is that you can also buy the skill instantly from the trainer if you want to.

Link to the blog post.
Finally we will be able to reset traits for free, and everywhere as long as we are out of combat. Just what SPvP got.
So this is what the community have created so far.
- CITIZENS!
- Scarlet did it.
- all is vain
- Uh-huh.
Spirit weapons will be fixed in the next big patch, coming up in april
Where did you get this information from? Any links to a developer response?
Nicholas, the Time Traveler!
It never ceased to be an appreciation thread. You just mentioned faults, I’ve yet to see any.
Best support, best damage, best survivability, giant hammers.
Guardians are great for WvW for sure and are important as bunkers in tPvP. I wouldn’t say they are the best damage though.
Well, a Guardian deals a lot more damage to multiple foes, compared to a Warrior. A Warrior, however, deals more damage on single target.
If you can’t reach rank 14 for wanting a legendary you are not even worth one.
Kindof dangerous to have nothing for 10days

World of Warcraft will have nothing to do for almost a year before their expansion releases.
As a Guardian, you have to see it as a victory when the other professions you fight are starting to leg it and run away from you with all the escape abilities they’ve got.
All those… escape abilities…
Guardians are also three professions put in one.
Monk + Paragon + Ritualist. We are the ultimate profession!
