All depends if your computer can handle it, that’s all that matters, otherwise, no, no problems at all.

I’m sure we will actually get nice and good people for this.

I would just cringe to see actual white knights becoming one. I want people who question everything and speaks their honest opinion instead of hiding behind the “Everything is and will always be fine with this game.”

Guild Wars 2 is a good game, no doubt about it. But recently (in my opinion) it’s facing a lot of problems.

I believe Dark Age of Camelot had a similar program. Team Leads (TLs) I think they were called. In theory, it could work so long as the persons stayed neutral. But, I’ll freely admit, after reading some of these comments, I fear it would turn into kitten versus Them situation.

As if the forums needed even more of that.

Still, a lot of these so-called ‘white knights’ do present their point-of-view in a more mature and professional manner than their name-callers.

Here is the program for those interested: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Guild-Wars-2-Forum-Specialists-Program/first

They pretty much do, but the annoying part is that they see no wrong at all. Nothing seems to be bad at all in their eyes. ArenaNet could sell even better equipment than ascended in gem store and only from there and they would see nothing bad with it, because “You can still farm gold to convert to gems so it’s fine” is something they would say.

Might be exaggerating, but I swear it’s almost close to that.

Forum community's view on instrument macros?

I see your point, and I agree that the thin line ArenaNet laid out can, and most likely will cause more “harm” for ArenaNet because people will claim that they have been playing music instead of actually botting.

Forum community's view on instrument macros?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

Before we start; ArenaNet has already commented on the topic of macros and instruments, and it’s nothing they will ban or suspend you for. This only applies to INSTRUMENTS.

This is for the players, the forum community to answer.

I got some of the instruments, and enjoy playing on them from time to time. I also use macros to let it play much harder songs when I just want to spread some music around.

Of course, when I use the macros I never claim to actually be playing them, and always tell people before or after that I used a macro for it to just spread some music.

So, what’s the view from the forum community? Absolutely hate such or are you fine with it?

I haven’t heard many songs from other players, it’s usually just someone pulling out their bell and spam the highest tone for a couple of seconds, so that’s why I decided to start using macros to spread some music just for fun, since that’s what the instruments are for, fun.

You may be right. Although, I often read wall of texts from players who complain about lack of content, and when confronted with most new content added in the last 1-2 years, they state “Okay, that may be nice new content, but I don’t like it and I want new content that I can enjoy”.
They often say that jumping puzzles, WvW, fractals and co. (or the SAB, too) aren’t “real” content to get into and that they want different content.

So I’m not sure if there is really a lack of content or more of a mental state many players are in, saying that there’s a difference between added content they like and added content they don’t like. I guess there’s no right or wrong here, because it’s an individual thing to say “I’m happy with what I get” or “I’m unhappy with what I get” or “I get things, its secondary if I like it or not.”

I can speak for myself that I do everything in this game. PvE, PvP, WvW, Jumping Puzzles, Exploring… name it.

I do a lot of things in GW2 and I think there is a lot of lack in content. It’s not enough, because everything has been focused on living story now.

As somebody who, for a long time now, has been dissatisfied with the lack of new content/features, I must say I’m greatly looking forward to PAX South.

Lack of new content? 3 new maps, Fractals, dungeon path, EoTM, armor/weapon skins, new gemstore items, LS1 & 2, festivals and new crafting levels are what I can think of off the top of my head.

MMO’s typically don’t put out much content within their first couple of years as it’s spent smoothing over the game and putting in things that were promised but missed at launch. Yet we got all of the above for free!

Maybe you’re new to the MMO world but your expectations need to be checked. Now if the current pace of content continues than next year I might be joining you.

Also, check message boards and forums for spare tickets. You can usually find them as people’s plans change and what not.

Lack of content, yes. Compared to their previous game.

GW1 wasn’t an MMORPG, comparing it with GW2 makes as much sense as comparing WoW to older games in the franchise.

Yeah, GW2 needs content however, it makes no sense if I would complain and say that Heartstone needs more updates because even LoL got more than that. Two genres, two business models.

Comparing the games that the same company have created makes much sense. Even if GW1 was seen as a CORPG, it still got a lot if similarities to an MMO. You can still group up with other players, you can still run dungeons, you can still complete quests and missions, you can still gather armour, you can still PvP, you can still farm stuff like reputation, gold, items.

Just because it isn’t EXACTLY like an MMO it doesn’t mean we can’t compare them, because it’s still very, very, very similar to one. The only difference is that it isn’t fully persistent world, and that you can group up with NPC heroes and henchmen.

You’re not supposed to hop between maps to bring supplies. In fact, Anet should just change it so that when you load into a WvW map you lose all supplies carried.

“You’re not supposed.”

Is this something ArenaNet have said themselves or is this just some wishful thinking on your side?

I don’t know, I quite like the map hopping to grab supplies to help another map, it gives a little bit more spice to it all. But I don’t think it should give priority into the other maps, it should just stay like this. If you want to map hop to help, beware of the consequences.

Very much so. They’re not going to make all the players happy all the time, because that’s impossible- but I think the overall of GW2 is a positive, enjoyable experience, both from an IC and OOC perspective.

Kind of different for me.

While there’s a lot ArenaNet does right, the way they are handling the Living Story, the missions there and the constant gaze over the cash shop, I think it’s getting rather unpleasant.

The Living Story missions are short and while the story written is pretty alright, they cut it off so randomly for another ‘rest’ until January. It’s stupid the way they handle it.

Then of course there are soooo many things appearing in the cash shop that looks great as ingame rewards from other sources than the cash shop, or you need to farm ridiculous amount of cold to convert for a ridiculous amount too.

There are a lot of new things that an expansion can deliver to the core game

  1. Player housing
  2. GvG
  3. New races
  4. New classes
  5. New weapons for each class
  6. New utility and elite skills
  7. New crafting disciplines
  8. Raids
  9. Massively expand WvW, new structures,siege weapons,etc.
  10. New continent
  11. Expand the personal story
  12. Guild halls
  13. Level cap increase
  14. Player ships and sailing, sea based zones
  15. New dungeons
  1. No reason why this couldn’t come via Living Story or just a generic patch.
  2. They’re already talking about a CDI on GvG. Also does not need an expansion to implement.
  3. Could be easily delivered via Living Story. In fact, I’d expect them to have planned that from the start.
  4. Could be easily delivered via Living Story. In fact, I’d expect them to have planned that from the start.
  5. Could be easily delivered via Living Story. In fact, I’d expect them to have planned that from the start.
  6. We’ve already gotten healing skills in patches tied to the Living Story so I see no reason why there would be any need for an expansion to add skills.
  7. They’ve been adding crafting recipes and expanding crafting in general (Ascended crafting, revamping the crafting interface) without an expansion so far.
  8. They’ve done dungeons and revamped world bosses with ties to Living Story, no reason they couldn’t do this as well as it’s practically identical in terms of gameplay.
  9. They’ve already changed WvW plenty (adding WvW skills and traps, changing the maps) without needing an expansion.
  10. They’ve already added new areas via Living Story so there’s no need for an expansion to add areas.
  11. Living Story is an extension of Personal Story.
  12. How are guild halls different from player housing?
  13. They should never, ever, increase the level cap for any reason. Increasing the level cap would make all non-Legendary gear obsolete, which would cause a massive shift in the TP, not to mention kittening off everyone who’s spent time getting Ascended gear.
  14. I don’t think this is that kind of game.
  15. They’ve already tinkered with dungeons via Living Story, what makes you think they would need an expansion to do it?

From the looks of it, everything that you think they should put into an expansion they have already experimented with via Living Story or could easily do without an expansion. Expansions are a risk, because it would force all of the current players to re-consider whether they want to keep playing the game and it makes the bar for new players even higher. It’s not exactly news that the bar of entry to a game like World of Warcraft, with their heptillion expansions, is very high due to the costs and hassle of getting them all. And I have to say that one of the best things about GW2 is that you play it whenever you want to. There’s no gear treadmill making your stuff obsolete every 6 months and there’s no monthly subscription.

What an expansion does that Living Story cannot do, is hype the product outside of the current playerbase. Living Story is perfectly capable of delivering everything that an expansion can give, but it doesn’t cost anything for the players except time.

Your response is silly to the point that I think you’re joking or trolling. Of course the living story can deliver all of these things no one ever said it couldnt. The point is that it’s not. The LS isn’t creating g excitement in terms of bringing people back or buildin anticipation. When you receive an expansion in large chunks. It’s about anticipation. Wow players know a year in advance what the expansion is going to be and then wait another year to play it. Anet leaves us in the dark and we really don’t know what direction they will go with anything. We have traits and features broken since launch that no one has bothered to look at or fix. We have a guardian class with a worth less shield and the community has come up with many ways to improve it and it’s never been considered publicly. Living story can do things, it’s just not done in a fashion that’s benefitting.

Quoting for truth.

Guardian’s shield really needs a checkup.

Why do they HAVE to role play in public?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

I have always been puzzled by some role players and believe me I have done a lot of roleplaying in my lifetime in many, many games. To me the essence of good role play is to leave the person behind the keyboard there and let the character live and breathe on their own. Once you allow the person behind the keyboard the ability to project his or her feelings into the character and thus into the game then it is no longer true role play and where it involves explicit sexuality it ends up being more voyeurism then role play. If you (the person behind the keys) are getting “heated” role playing a character in a computer game then you are not really role playing.

In one game, on a dedicated RP server I had multiple characters, each with his own personality. I was so adept at keeping my characters separate from each other and from myself that I was getting whispers asking why I allowed one of my other characters ( that kitten as he was called) to be in our guild as he was an arrogant, self centered kitten whereas the majority of the rest of our guild were really nice people. The thing is he was meant to be that.

Good screen actors can make you believe that they are the character they are portraying from film to film to film because they let the characters have their own lives and feelings and do not project theirs onto them.

You make it sound like people shouldn’t have any or show any emotions at all towards their roleplaying and stories, and should just sit there like robots with set script and set emotions at all times.

Philosophy Shift to Less Choice

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

The less gold someone has access to, the more likely they are to purchase germs to supplement that gold.

People who can realistically buy gem store stuff from ingame cash are not a majority. At all. This is not a common thing, especially not being able to do it repeatedly. Few players play remotely enough every day to generate that amount of cash.

Also, for most of us we could do 1 extra hour at work and gain a multitude of the amount of gems than we could from a day spent making money ingame. There’s no real motivation to even try use gold.

The only people I see spend gold on gems are on reddit, here, and a few in TxS. The others do the odd gold-to-gems trade to fill up the last 100 or so (I think that’s actually the intention of the weird numbers, try drain gold, otherwise the numbers would be different), but otherwise just spend € when they want something.

Working as intended. The gem store funds the game. If everyone could easily buy stuff, even playing only a bit here and there, no one would need to buy gems, and the game wouldn’t be funded.

The idea is time = money. If you put the time in you can farm enough to buy stuff you want. If you don’t put the time in, you can put cash in and buy gems (which you can sell if you want to someone who has put the time in).

I’m not sure why anyone thinks it shouldn’t be this way.

Because when you find a way to farm gold to get your gem store item, the farming spot gets nerfed.

The gold to gem price is ridiculous as well.

However, Guild Wars 2 is good too, so let her try it as well. It’s important to let kids make their own decisions, really.

No, I just made a thread about it because this is technically what mounts are, an object that changes the appeareance of your character and increases speed. Yes, even if your character is only holding something, even a stick, it’s something that changes the appearance.

I’m not really for mounts though, I don’t think they are needed in this game.

shield looks cool like that XD.

how often do people use shields anyway?

Engineer use shields, they use them quite a lot, and the abilities are really good. Engineer is pretty limited with their weapon choice though.

Warrior got shield too, which is very defensive, with the block and charge ability.

Guardian is probably the only profession who got the worst shield abilities. Really long cooldowns, the #4 skill does no damage at all and only applies protection. The #5 skill is a little bit better because of the knockback and able to absorb projectiles, but the heal is very weak and the cooldown far too long. You are far, far better off using a focus.

I only use shield as a Guardian because I’m stubborn.

Helping Rytlock to find the crown pieces; so anticliamtic. This legendary, special, mystical crown, just being scattered around like nothing. Could this be the beginning of what ArenaNet tries to make into mounts? Double-click on an item to make your character appear sitting on, let’s say a horse, that increases the run speed while you’re on it? Weapon swap would take away the effect.

I’ve never really been a support for mounts in this game since it’s not needed.
