It starts at Noon PST, stop being lazy and convert it yourself .. Its not hard to do
Not always a sign of being lazy, it can also be that one doesn’t have the full knowledge of time zones and what they are named, and what the time difference are.
Hell, I barely know any other time zone outside GMT and CET.
The story how the dragonhunter came to be is a long one with a lot of anger, sadness and a will of justice.
Druid
Gardener
Every moment spent managing your inventory, even to toss stuff, is a moment you’re not playing the game. The fact that you can pay to somewhat offset this issue is mostly irrelevant. Inventory management is not fun for most people, so it drags the game down for them slowly but surely. It’s not generally overt, but it’s a battle of attrition. A better inventory is a better game.
Sometimes ultimate convenience is not always the best way and approach.
It’s like saying those who bought the World of Warcraft expansions had unfair advantage with their new classes and races they could play.
Well, yes? That’s how it’s been with any MMO, really. That’s what fishes people up to but expansion packs, to get the new goods.
It’s actually decent, but only if you are able to run around without any conditions on you.
There’s been a lot of suggestions already and all… not sure what more names we can come up with.
so ele go out of combat and with 2 sets stack 15-17 mights and rush back to battle
I mean, they kind of still can, but they need to keep their inventory open and equip manually.
We don’t need more inventory space.
We need to be given less kitten and more meaningful rewards.
Longbow looks fun, traps will be interesting to try out.
The name is horrible and unfitting.
Shoulder: Burden of Koda
Chest: Vigil’s Honor Breastplate*
Gloves: Vigil’s Honor Gauntlets*
Leggings: Pit Fighter Skirt
Boots: Vigil’s Honor Greaves*
*Vigil armour requires you to have a character that chose the Vigil as their order and will cost you a total of 4 gold and 24 silver
No, the name isn’t going to change.
Before launch there were even more whiny underboob neckbeards complaining about the ‘Thief’ name, they wanted it to be Assassin.
It didn’t change.
Stop wasting your time whinging about the traitline name and spend your time giving them the kind of feedback they asked for:
Shelter and Healing Breeze- Which skilltypes should they be?
Tome of Courage and Wrath – What do you think of the Signet and Shout ideas.
Longbow skills, elite traitline traits.
Hunter’s Fortification GM trait, they don’t like the 4s Protection on Virtue use, how about ideas for a different trait?
Just because you think they aren’t going to change it, it doesn’t mean we should stop trying and voice our opinions.
I don’t think JP was anticipating players to be so closed minded that they focus primarily on the name either. Therefore, when he says it’s a crowd pleaser, then I think he was anticipating people having enough intelligence to see the gameplay value of the reveal over some words. Looks like I should my signature to say “OK Anet, you win, players are general not that smart”.
It’s so fun how you wind personal insults in your arguements. But just stop that, it’s becoming more and more tiring to read.
You think that’s what JP, thought, and you think that’s what he wanted, and you think that wasn’t what he thought.
JP can think what he wants. But this choice of name was definitely not a crowd pleaser, and I’m sure he knows that by now.
Whether they are going to change it or not, I don’t know, but I doubt it. Why? Because ArenaNet are very stubborn, and the elite skill itself got a dragon maw animation already, and I think they are going to keep pointing at that to have the name set in stone.
I’m sure they are more than aware that radical differences from people’s expectations would garner such reactions. Unfortunately, people have focused their complaints primarily on the less important thing that doesn’t affect the mechanics of the class gameplay. Maybe Anet has missed the mark on this elite spec here but out of ALL the things to focus their attention to … the name? No wonder players get so little quorum with the devs. They must think we are idiots.
Names are powerful. Names mean something.
The way it plays out is what guardians lacked, which is powerful and long range attacks. Traps are reworked as well, and overall it looks really interesting, and the style and way it could be played is fun.
The name, however, is still weak. The name that is supposed to mean something and fit with an overall theme as a branch to an already existing profession isn’t there.
So of course people will rally up and raise their concerns about something that just isn’t right to begin with, and it even looks like the overall theme of the Dragonhunter has been mixed up many times during development.
People need to understand how this dev group appears to be one that tries new things.
They do, and they have now learned that naming a specialization Dragonhunter is bad.
Lesson learned, let’s rename it into somethin fitting.
Eh, no.
I rather not do anything for the quaggans.
Once poobags, always poobags.
I hope the something special is a rename of the Dragonhunter specialization.
You heard it here first, folks. The new Guardian specialization will be named the “Something Special.”
I don’t mind that at all, actually.
Not quite sure I would like being called the D-Hunter…
At this point, even Bow Knight works for me.
I hope the something special is a rename of the Dragonhunter specialization.
Guild Wars 2 even releases more, and quality content compared to World of Warcraft these days.
World of Warcraft is even subscription based…
The more I look at these… the more I have to agree with that doll faces gets boring so fast…
ArenaNet really need to create more serious war faces. I can’t imagine any of these characters to go into war against another dragon.
1: Reaper
2: Chronomancer
3:
4
5:
6:
7:
8:
9: Dragon hunter
Not the prettiest name, though.
What do you do for work Farzo? Whatever it is, I hope you’ve found someone else to do anything that your work isn’t, because obviously you can only work on what your title is.
It’s funny because I’m not working at the moment.
So my title is Jobless.
Someone can gladly do that for me if they want to.
I guess the point I was trying to make was… just add a shroud of total darkness over where the eyes and overall face would be.
More or less like this.

Longbow on Guardian is something I wished for a long time, though I had other ideas of what it would do.
However, what I have seen with the Dragonhunter is all fine. I think it will be very interesting and fun to play with a Longbow that got strong shots, as well as planning and placing reworked traps of justice.
While the word traps might sound odd, the core element of the guardian is ground control, and that is what we will be able to do with traps a little bit more.
However, the name Dragonhunter is so, so, so off. There is no synergy with the specialization name, the utility names, and the trait names, except a very few ones.
Longbow skill names.
Puncture Shot
True Shot
Deflecting Shot
Symbol of Energy
Hunter’s Ward
Trap names.
Purification
Fragments of Faith
Test of Faith
Procession of Blades
Light’s Judgement
Dragon’s Maw
Virtue names.
Spear of Justice
Wings of Resolve
Shield of Courage
Trait names.
Piercing Light
Zealot’s Aggression
Soaring Devastation
Hunter’s Determination
Bulwark
Dulled Senses
Hunter’s Fortification
Heavy Light
Big Game Hunter
There’s like… only a few names that ties to hunter, and only one that ties to dragon. There’s no synergy at all with the overall theme of the “Dragonhunter” specialization and the skills and traits and utilities.
It’s all a mess.
The other two specializations we have seen, got everything tied together, it all got synergy, they got a theme going that is unique to their profession only.

Guardian was already in a great place.
This line is the bane of my existence.
It’s like… there are many different threats out there, not only dragons. A Reaper can go and take care of these threats, and so can a Chronomancer. Ghosts, legions, other kind of corruption…
Then there’s the Dragonhunter… sure he can go and take care of these threats too, but… why would he now that he’s a Dragonhunter?
I have always liked the look of this helmet, and especially how it feels like a mystery.
A covered face with no sight of the face, with just a drape of black mystery where the eyes are supposed to be.
A silent guardian with no facial recognition, someone who protects but takes no credit for it by hiding his or her identity.
Surely there are many helmets that covers the face, but having a helmet where you can see the inside… except you see nothing.
Vindicator
- or perhaps too much World of Warcraft
The only really tip I can give you is that /wiki is a command in the game.
So if you are wondering what something is, you can type /wiki Guardian or something.
There’s like 1 utility skill with the name “Dragon” in it, and then there’s like 2 – 3 traits out of 12 which is named “Dragon” something.
Clearly the theme was not thought out at all.
The community lashed out when ArenaNet tried to sell Human cultural Light Tier 3 on the gemstore. That got changed.
But I guess that involved money, so it’s a different story.
I feel the Chronomancer is not really in line with other Specialiazation names. Here are some suggestions for renaming:
1. Shield Mesmer
2. Clock Dude
3. Time Fighter
4. Monster Killer with Puple Spells
Omega Rolex
Read the reasoning, but it still just sounds so off to me.
Even the generic titles you thought of would have been much, much better. Even “Bow Knight” or something would have been better.
You can still save this. Just change the name of the elite skill itself and its animation.
“They hunt not only dragons, but all the dragon minions”
So, If you are a Sylvari Guardian and set yourself on fire… Would you be a successful Dragon Hunter?
Wanted to run a potential idea past you all. Comments welcome.
Tome of Courage -> Signet of Courage
Passive: PBAoE Heal every 10 seconds.
Active: Light of DeliveranceTome of Wrath -> “Feel My Wrath”
Shout that grants Quickness and FuryWe like the idea of tomes and if we did this we would hope to bring them back in a future Elite Specialization.
Thoughts? Comments?
Thanks,
Jon
I like the idea of the tomes myself. I must say they are the best looking elites in the game.
However, how about mashing Tome of Courage, and Tome of Wrath together into one tome, like Tome of Judgement or something?
Tome of Judgement could do both what Tome of Courge and Tome of Wrath could, but of course a little bit weaker in effect, perhaps?
And then make one of that new sigent, or shout you have there?
The reason I want to have this too is to remind me of my own ego.
Yes, I am serious. I love seeing the things I have accomplished, and the name I managed to squeeze out through a lot of thinking.
There are no dragons to hunt in SPvP and WvW. The name is lackluster.
The problem is that the name Dragonhunter can be given to any of the profession and make skills around it.
Whereas Chronomancer… It can only be given to Mesmer, and Mesmer only, no other profession fits with the Chronomancer description at all, and it makes it unique to that profession.
But everyone can call themselves a Dragonhunter.
I think the name is lame because there are modes where you don’t have any dragons to hunt, at all.
I really, really hope the Dragonhunter name will be changed. I really, really hope it will be changed…
Lovely concept, stupid profession name.
What irks me is that they are called Legendaries, when there are no legends about them.
It’s only The Flameseeker Prophecies that got a story behind it.
Saul D’Alessio
If Rytlock returns to cleanse the Foefire?
Duke Barradin and King Adelbern.
Shiro Tagachi?
Koss?
People came up with most kittened race ‘suggestions’ anyway that makes absolutely no sense to have.
During the interview. ManVsGame guy said that Jeremy Soule did an amazing job on the music.
I mean, why didn’t Mike or Colin correct him to give credit to the real composers?
- or is it me who missed something? Is Jeremy Soule back or something?
Bears are boring.
