run speed hack?

Super speed is something some professions can apply, but rarely more than a second or two. If it goes on more than that, something might be suspicious.

Usually speed hackers in Guild Wars 2 “lag” forward, by a lot. It’s not like some people who actually lag, and then gets placed back to their characters point accordingly, but these hackers “lag” forward by a lot, and you always fail to reach them.

The Most Outdated Profession

Low HP pool was to balance for the amount of boons and other types of defence

Don’t forget that many other professions stack boons way, way better than guardian too.

It is a very slow profession.

And that is fine to be honest, but it gets a bit ridiculous when every other profession except one more get 25% permanent speed trait or utility.

Nearly the entire concept of the Guardian as a Master of Defences was nullified by the Berserker Meta.

Agree and disagree. Guardian is still pretty good in that regard, and the Berserker meta has weakened a little bit, but to be honest, they are hardly the master of defense these days. Some other professions can be even better.

As for my own input-

Traits does barely have any synergy with each other. If you go one trait line, you better just go with this weapon, because the trait line got NOTHING for other weapons or utilities.

Sword auto-attack chain #3 still shoot out projectiles, while Revenant’s got changed into physical damage. Sword auto attack also ignores objects to attack in the world, causing you to cast it like 3 times without any damage done before it resets itself again.

Sword skill #3 still roots you and just misses everything.

Spirit weapons are generally useless, if they were up permanent like Necromancer minions they would be better.

Consecrations rarely, rarely get used because of the long cooldown and little effects it gives.

A vertical map.

This I can understand. A too vertical map can be very frustrating to take yourself around, and make you miss a lot of the fight or defending a place because you have to run around the bit mountain wall to find a place somewhere to ascend.

Jump pads.

I don’t find this that bad, but I can understand if it becomes an annoying gimmick.

Pop up rocks to face plant into (seriously wtf)

I can understand this.

Sandstorms

The permanent stealth can be rather annoying.

Shrines for gizmos and gimmicks

Don’t find this too bad, especially the speed increasing ones. It gives good reason to want them, flip them, take them back whenever to get faster around the map.

Changes to NPCs (lords and champs)

This I don’t understand. I know WvW players doesn’t want to do too much PvE, but seriously, having absolutely dumb NPC’s doing nothing? WvW players aren’t that mind numbing boring. A little bit of a challenge (not more HP, but just a more active fight) is not wrong.

If you take EVERYTHING away, it just becomes the usual, boring, karma train with flips.

The horrendous nostalgia about Alpine Borderlands just clouds it for people. WvW players started to NEGLECT Alpine Borderlands because it was getting boring. Less and less players started to join the map.

Sure, I want it back, but I rather want ArenaNet to fix the map layout on Desert Borderlands, just making it easier to get around and remove some of the gimmicks.

There’s no need to scrap it.

+1 for Farzo, I agree with what you are saying and I think people should take a more mature, objective stance on this issue. What would you suggest as a way for improving getting around the map easier?

I was thinking about a waypoint somewhere around the oasis area. It doesn’t have to be a large keep around it, but maybe a smaller tower. Though I do know it could take some time to build up.

Otherwise, it would be flatter lands. The main complaint I’ve seen is how vertical it is, and that you are met with ravines or walls everywhere and have to walk around a big chunk of the land to reach your destination. So just a tweak to the land to make it slightly flatter, more places to ascend and descend.

Those are the quick fixes I can think of.

Going to copy paste my post from the other thread in here.

After some thought, I think removing Desert Borderlands in favour of Alpine Borderlands could be a mistake.

People mainly want Alpine Borderlands because;

1. It’s smaller
2. It’s flatter
3. Not as many “extra events” as the flames and the oasis

Then there’s a lot of nostalgia going around for it too.

Alpine Borderlands is in no way a bad map, but neither truly is Desert Borderlands. What the new borderland needs is some changes in how you can take yourself around the map easier, and making it easier to navigate.

We have a new map, and while it has gotten bad reviews we shouldn’t chase it away. I know people want to chase it away because in the past, we knew ArenaNet didn’t touch WvW for a long, long time, so it’s better to have something we like, and remains unchanged, right?

Well, we have an opportunity here, and I think EVERYONE should get an objective view over this, actually take a thought to it instead of rushing your opinion because of the rushed opinion that went down in the community.

Roll back it all, back to old Alpine Borderlands, or save Desert Borderlands, in hope MO’b & Co tweaks it to a more fitting map?

Despite being in the state it is, Guild Wars 2 still got the best underwater combat in any MMO.

Still, I quite enjoy it. Being underwater can be rather scenic in its own way, and of course it lets you move up and down, left or right, forward and backwards.

I think underwater combat can become just fine if they took a quick look over the skills, tweak them some, increase the damage. Would be even more crazy if you received a single trait line that you will always have equipped (won’t interfere with the other trait lines) that give you a choice of underwater specific traits, boosting some skills or adding something else to just the underwater area.

Underwater mastery could be fun too, and I can imagine it coming in the future.

My take on Desert Borderlands, is that it’s a very beautiful map, and it would be sad to see it go if it comes to that.

But in my opinion, I think it would be for the better. The map is beautiful, but as said, it’s far too large, and it feels more troublesome to take yourself around, because it is so very vertical.

The problem is that it only encourages large group players, aka zergs, and barely anything for solo roamers, or smaller groups to take towers, because again, it’s large, and the towers requires quite a lot to break in and take them. The towers also holds no strategic waypoint for them to be truly considered to be held, except for ticking points.

I don’t truly know what needs to be done to ‘save’ Desert Borderlands. The main complaint about it, is that it feels too large, and it’s too vertical to get yourself anywhere meaningful before it’s too late.

Really? An achievment (title) which has such a short time range and is so dependent on other people… I really love the achivement hunting, bit this is absolutely ridicilous.
I usally do 4-5 matches a day and due to bad teams I am still Emerald. It goes up and down every day, because I love to play will ALL classes. This should really be changed or removed for further seasons…

Don’t let the obsession win over you, fight against it.

You can’t get every possible achievement in the game, it’s impossible. People gain achievements according to how much they wish to fight for it and want to go for it, and enjoy it, timer or not.

PvE players get their achievements, PvP players get their achievements, and WvW players get their achievement.

Getting this achievement for PvP players is a long task, but since they focus on PvP, it’s not far out of reach. People who tries to do everything might find it difficult, and it tares them apart.

Stay strong Arzk, don’t let the achievement obsession win over you, take a step away and see the achievements you want and have fun collecting, not only collecting because you feel the need to collect them and it tares you apart.

Stay strong m8.

Stay strong.

Emotes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Farzo.8410

Farzo.8410

Trade-offs is rather hard to grasp as a consumer at times. It’s easy for us to say do that or do this without thinking what it actually takes, what it can take away, or what it actually adds.

There’s a running joke around the World of Warcraft community, which is; do you want X? It will cost a raid tier. With that, players jokingly make their own lists of what they would like to have in sacrifice of a raid tier.

Emotes are fun. Yes, they are fun, but the question I raise is; if there is a trade-off, what can we get instead? It’s easy to imagine if ArenaNet decided to make a list. Telling us three things they can make, but they have to sacrifice this for a while longer to make this other thing.

Of course, no company would do that. Instead, they won’t tell what they “sacrifice” to make something else, and instead go what they find is the most popular demand by the playerbase, or what they themselves think is needed for the game to make their vision complete.

Emotes over class balance? No I’d say, but people working on emotes and such might not be fit for class balancing. That was a silly example, but I hope you get the point.

Roleplaying! Yes, I love stories, and having a role in a set world. I roleplayed a lot in World of Warcraft, and I still do log in every now and then when I have that roleplay need. World of Warcraft got very good basic features to make it a good game to actually roleplay in.

I haven’t tried roleplay in Guild Wars 2 yet, because I feel spoiled by World of Warcraft’s system. Emotes with animations is not one of them, but (without AddOns) it got a well functioning chat system, with class colours to make out names easier, an emote system that isn’t far too large in range—as I have noticed with Guild Wars 2—and that’s the basics for that.

If anything about emotes, I would love myself if they changed to actually still show the weapons you got instead of making them disappear when you make an emote, that alone would help roleplaying, because it feels very odd to see the weapons disappear to just reappear again when you sit down or lie down (despite clipping or not.)

On top of that, perhaps seeing your character’s mouth moving when you send a text in /say chat would be a cool idea, or a more subtle talk animation when you do say things in /say chat. It helps seeing who talks, and the characters feel more alive with such.

1. Build Templates
2. Improving the Rune/Sigil System especially for legendary armor
3. Bringing back older skins like Fused/Zodiac
4. The poor supply of mystic coins

1. Nice to have. However, it shouldn’t work on the fly in WvW. If you want to change template you have to be inside any of your taken towers or keeps, camps not included. Why not on the fly in WvW? Because it’s going to be “abused” and especially those who can stealth and run away like Mesmer and Thief. Creating rather un-fun situations.

2. Legendary armour doesn’t interest me too much, because having a single armour set that can change whatever type of stat you want whenever you want, and to include runes AND sigils on to that? It really removes a lot, and gives too much freedom in that sense.

3. Can’t give a crap about paid skins from gemstore. It’s horrible as it is.

4. Haven’t thought about mystic coins at all.

Beating a dead horse? Maybe. Still, I wanted to bring it up, because raids are getting a handful of dislike threads.

Of course the forums are not the majority in any way. Yes, raids are content for the more dedicated people.

Ascended equipment is starting to become more and more a requirement for a lot of things, and it’s really not helping the game at all. With such a small stat increase, you would wonder why players are starting to limit each other, but it’s more of a status upgrade than a stats upgrade.

The limitation doesn’t need to be there. Stopping players to participate because they don’t have full ascended equipment. I know that even if ascended equipment was removed, or even easier to get (exotic equivalent easy to get) players would still try to limit others, but even less so if players were on an equal ground of power. As well as the “need” of different armour sets with different stats is taking its toll, and almost feel impossible to get when you are being told it too needs to be ascended quality.

Raids appears to become bigger and bigger with more time put into it, interesting lore and a lot of gameplay hours, that a lot of people are missing out on because they are not on equal gear ground.

I think it’s too late to remove ascended equipment, it’s just not possible in this state. The only thing they can do is to make it far much easier to get hold of than it is at the moment.

I could go on a full rant why they are fine in a team fight, but that’s s lot of reading and understanding how the game works (which I know most people who pvp don’t even understand.)

I’ll use one example to make it simple.

DH uses Test of Faith. You dodge out if you need to get out of the simple trap that only damages you if you hit the wall.

in PvP

Farzo.8410

Seriosuly..They make MUCH better trap rangers than ranger. It’s ridiculous. I literally could not kill them tonight on my own trap ranger…They have extremely powerful traps, including an ELITE trap that rangers don’t even have and then they have all the usual blocks and buffs a guardian brings.

It’s ridiculously op in pvp. Either buff the other classes or tone down the strength of their traps and lb.

Have you read the details of the DH skills (traps, traits, and bow)? It is kind of unbelievable. It is like taking a trapper ranger and then removing all the downside for taking traps and adding so many extra buffs, that most players wouldn’t even have had the nerve to ask for or imagine.

Apart from damage that can take even my ranger equipped with rabid and under protection from 100-0 before I get a chance to react, 2 of the traps are instant cast, one breaks stun (wtf right! trap ranger ‘s dream), and the traps apply the following: daze, stability, blind, swiftness, vulnerability, revealed, protection, fury, slow, aegis, cripple, might. The heal trap can also be “double cast” like normal traps, unlike the rangers heal trap (ranger version doesn’t trigger a heal if not used straight away), for massive burst healing.

But the traps being totally OP compared to ranger traps is just the beginning. They also get a 1200 range instant cast unblockable pull, a trait that auto procs knock back every 10 secs on any bow skill or auto attack, which also gives 6 SECONDS of STABILITY – ie 60% stability uptime, and the bow skills themselves are none too shabby.

That’s cool bro, but in order to get all those benefits you are propping up, you need to equip all 5 traps, which most DH don’t do, because the sustain is too low.

Try not to exaggerate to make your point next time.

PS: they can’t actually equip all the traps. They will either choose between the stunbreaker trap (the one with the aegis and stability) or the reveal trap (the one with the vulnerability). They can’t take both along with test of faith and procession of blades.

The pull isn’t instacast. The spear has a cast time. The pull is not unblockable, but the spear is.

Oh my, terribly sorry for such a huge exaggeration “bro”. Yes its true, DH has to choose between the stunbreak trap that gives aegis and stability and does lots of damage or one other trap that does damage and applies other effects. What a predicament!

The tooltip for spear says its unblockable, and it has a very clear cast animation easily discernible from up to 1200 distance with its .25 sec cast time that gives players ample time to time a dodge before getting pulled into the ring of near instant death.

Fragment of Faith deals barely any damage at all…
