Player Base: male and female ratio?

I wanted to point out with a lot of people using the stereotype of ‘cute and cuddly’ as if it’s a bad thing to like those things. That there is nothing wrong with women liking cute and cuddly stuff. My asura is pink and cute where as my warrior looks like Xena basically.

To say if someone likes cute things it is somehow bad in some way and makes them less of a player is as much of a bad thing to say as ‘girls only play games because of their boyfriend’. I know plenty of men in game who love quaggans, kittens, wear pink and girly outfits, run around with dreamer bow. So what?

You are still allowed to like cute or feminine things as a female who games and still be just a gamer. Just as much as others might like more dark stuff. This is just a matter of preference and should in no way dictate what makes a gamer and what doesn’t. I can still beat you up as my little cute pink asura if you don’t play well enough. I don’t need to be super scary big charr/norn to do that.

When people address me as male I correct them, I sometimes bring it up when I get to know people and I ask them about who they are just the same as I sometimes ask how old people are or where they are from. But at the same time I don’t go around shouting ‘Look I’m female AMG it makes me so special’ I’m special because I’m me and I’m unique in my own ways just like everyone else is special in their own way.

So what that I like cute pink fluffy things, I also like gears of war and beer. People really need to stop putting negative connotation to anything considered feminine as if it’s a bad thing

(Edit: Just to make my point even further, see attached screenshot, that’s my ‘main’ that I’ve played on for about 2200 hours. It’s just a preference it means nothing in regards to my gaming abilities or experience.)

Player Base: male and female ratio?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I suspect 90% of the women/girls who play this game do so, because their husband/boyfriend play this game.

I think that’s quite an outdated assumption. Most of the woman I meet play it because they want to and started playing it because of their interest in the game. Like myself I came to the game out of interest in it myself. There’s even some who dragged in their husband/boyfriend to play it with them. Certainly there are some women who do play the game because of their boyfriend but I think you’ll find that percentage to be closer to 30%

As a woman who has been gaming and online for years now, I just want to add that the notion that women don’t obviously ‘out’ themselves and that online, men assume they’re dealing with other men, has a lot of truth.

The reasons for this have been stated in previous posts, discrimination, abuse, assumptions of incompetence etc. I know not every guy online has behaved like this, but enough have for women like myself to behave ‘gender neutrally’ online.

A lot of woman do this and I can understand because I face similar unwanted attention however I’ve always persisted from the start to not pretend to be or hide the fact that I’m female mainly because I feel the longer we hide the longer it will take for people to accept that women play and can be good at gaming.

So I stuck with that from the start and persisted through the abuse and because of people like me who didn’t hide it’s become more and more accepted that women play games and women face less abuse overall because it’s becoming more accepted (It’s also more fun to beat up the ones that say women suck at gaming and should go to the kitchen knowing that you are female)

There is no way to accurately find out the ratio between male and female gamers. From my 10 years of intense online gaming I feel that even though way more female gamers play games nowadays than 10 years ago there is still far less of them than male gamers. At least in these kind of games.

You will find that if you take all types of games into account that quite a lot of woman do play games of one kind or another but that they tend to lean towards games like the sims 3, Facebook games and just generally more towards games that have creative/less violent/more thoughtful/more social aspects. So the overall percentage could very well be something in the 1/3-1/5 range when combining all games.

While games that are targeted to a broader audience like MMO’s you will still see a much larger percentage of male gamers. That said from my experience in GW2 there are a lot more woman who play it than I ran into in other MMO’s like WoW, SWtor. I think this is because there are more elements that appeal to woman and I think it also helps that Arenanet has so many female developers.

Then there are the games that are more violent or aimed towards a male audience (Gears of War, Call of Duty etc.). You will find that the percentage of woman gamers will be lower there but definitely present and a lot better now than it once was (I come from the Jedi Knight series of games and am female so I remember when coming across another female gamer on there was fairly rare).

The point is, women play games. The old saying of ‘Women don’t play video games’ no longer applies and is silly at best sure the male percentage might still be higher but we can be as good and as bad as any guy in any game.

I think it’s good to stop distinguishing male and female gamers but rather just say ‘gamers’. At least that’s how I think about it and my observations.

What both Geotherma and Danikat said. That is all.

Yup, Danikat hit the nail on the head. The problem with this thread isn’t that there are 100% representation guilds. The problem is that people are being offensive to guilds who are. I respect any guild of any type as long as they are nice people. Live and let live.

Every guild has it’s own rules and requirements and will appeal to different people. If anything 100% guilds are not all that common. Most guilds I heard of allow guild hopping to some extend so I’m not sure what the big deal is if some do I’m sure you can find a guild that appeals to you if you do not like 100%. Plenty of fish in the sea!

Yeah, with them wanting this to become an esport, you’ think responsiveness and reliability would be higher priorities.

I’ve been spending more time on the Ranger lately simply because he has better mobility and I need a change of pace for a while.

A guildmate was having trouble with a Mesmer last night, so I told her “just hit the one my pet is following, he’s never fooled”. It worked like a charm :-)

Ranger pets are such hackers! but yes it’s a pretty good way to see where the real mesmer is. To be honest I wish they would fix that because it’s so annoying! As far as I know though Rangers are good in pvp and pretty decent in pve but are pretty lackluster in WvW. I think all professions could do with some balancing here and there.

I see multiple people in this thread saying that they require 100% rep because they are trying to build a “community” or “family”, but I’d ask them….do you know all of the people who are active on your roster at any one time?

I would say that any guild who is at, or near, the cap has no excuse as to why they would require 100% rep other than want for more influence or feeling insulted because someone decided that a little bit of their time was better spent with a different group.

Once a guild gets so large it stops being a family or community and starts becoming more like a cult; people join it because of the name and leaders want more people to join so they can further their name.

I help run a small guild, we have 35 members on the roster, maybe about 5-6 active on week nights and 10 or so active on Friday-Sunday nights…2-3 of the 35 member regularly..gasp…represent a different guild. If I want to include the non-representing members in our activities I whisper them and see if the want to join (I don’t ask that they represent). If people don’t represent and don’t participate at all, then I’ll let them know that we feel that they aren’t contributing to the social part of the guild, ask that they come chat/play with us a bit more, and if they don’t….then I’ll let them know that we let them go.

A few people not representing isn’t going to spoil a guild, it will only spoil the ego of the people running the guild. Granted, if a significant portion of the guild isn’t representing (I’d say >20% in guilds 50+ members, >30% in guilds <50) then it becomes an issue.

My personal opinion, take it or leave it. If anyone has similar thinking to mine, you are more than welcome to look me up in game, I’ll have a sympathetic ear to any dictator guild problems you want to vent about.

Not necessarily the case although I agree that some guilds are like this in mine for example I know a lot of the members by real name or at the very least know them very well. We chat a lot about various things and apart from a couple of new people and very very quiet ones I know the majority of my members well and they know each other because when they are online so is everyone else rather than everyone being in different guilds. People are able to get to know each other well because of this and are inclined to do things with guildies first and foremost.

People who join the guild know its 100% representation before they do and understand why it is so, nobody is forced into this. We have a pretty good reputation on our server because people always see us together doing things and silly events or as simple as slacking and joking around in LA. We are a very close knit community.

We don’t often recruit as we stick around the 100 member mark and remove anyone who hasn’t been active for a long time before we recruit more at which point we hardly have to advertise because people want to join us.

We are about active community where people recognize each other and have fun together. A guild that is small enough to do so but large enough to have people to do things with. With on average 20-30 people online at peak times.

I don’t enforce 100% representation to boost my ego I do it because I can see from experience that it makes for a stronger community and a stronger community makes for a more fun experience in game where people feel more connected to one another. I do it for them, the people in my guild, to give them the best experience possible. Because of it people really get to know each other and become friends outside of the game.

It’s nice that guild hopping is there for specialized guilds or smaller guilds but for my kind of guild it just doesn’t work. I respect your rule on guild hopping, it would be nice if you could respect mine without insulting me.

I would recommend from what you wrote to go for maybe warrior? It’s hard to say really you just have to try all professions and play them to about lvl 10 or so and try all the weapons they can use to see how you feel about each. You might be surprised what you end up going with!

As for guides, just play the game, do events that pop up on your screen, do the heart events, look at vistas, point of interests. Grab some harvesting tools and equip them from merchants and harvest nodes.

With all respect I understand the concern of your visibility but if blocking the person doesn’t stop them annoying you then you should report this to Arenanet so that can investigate and punish this player as this would be considered harassment.

If someone is simply being clingy or slightly annoying rather than full on harassing you then surely this is something you can deal with yourself by asking them to stop and if that does not work to block them? I mean if they still follow you around and annoy you in some way after that then that would be classified as harassment which you can report.

So yes perhaps you are more visible than necessary and it isn’t ideal but there is a system in place to deal with these kind of situations when they get out of hand and doesn’t really ‘need’ to be urgently improved on.

Especially when considering how a complete overhaul of this system would be very time consuming and resource expensive when there are so many other things in game that are in more need of attention because they are either completely absent or severely lacking/problematic in functionality.

So if you are being harassed I’m sorry to hear I’ve had it happen a few times myself before and it can really ruin your fun and be a terrible experience so really please do report these type of people.

First of you bumped a 7 month old topic when this question was already answered recently (As in I quoted this earlier today on another topic about the same thing):

They will be removing culling from PvE later in the year:

Hello.

I just saw the great news for WvW.

But since January Patch that I started to have Culling in PVE for the first times, mainly in Meta Events where even Mobs are Invisible sometimes!

Then, does the end of Culling affects also PVE? Or do we need to get used to “Invisible Events” in PVE?

I would like only to say, that I know Culling is also also about our Computer… but, the game must think in every kind of PCs, not only with high-end Ones.

The initial release of this system will be for WvW only. There are additional complications we need to solve with PvE due to the number and variety of creatures on screen that WvW doesn’t need to account for. Later this year, we’ll be expanding as much of the changes to the PvE open world as we can as well.

Yep :-)

I wish I could just kidnap you and a few other Mesmers around here and throw you on Ehmry Bay and in our teamspeak.

I used to have 2 guildies that would theorycraft with me all day while we played, but life has nabbed them both from GW2 at the moment (darn busy life! almost got me too!)

I’m torn between theorycrafting on my Mesmer, testing out the builds, acquiring gear I don’t have for specific oddball ideas, and my Ranger. Currently trying to help the Ranger community out to get sort of righted. Ranger bugs have jaded that community quite a bit.

Or you could just join me on Desolation! as I said though I’m more than happy to come stalk on teamspeak some time. Wouldn’t mind having a theorycrafting session with some of the top mesmers in the community.

As for rangers. You guys are lucky! You have the infamous flailing arm dev Robert Hrouda on your side! Us mesmers can be but jelly at this!

I know what you mean theory-crafting for mesmers is so much fun but in practice it also needs to work well. I’ve had occasions where I theory-crafted a build but then although it sounds nice in theory it doesn’t really work in practice. So that’s always the danger. For example I’ve actually theory-crafted a scepter/torch and sword/pistol hybrid a while back but because I was compromising both too much neither one was effective enough. It might work now with the changes to scepter and torch though.

What is this Fay? You didn’t think to throw mantras into it? :-p

Am I going to have to try to theorycraft the Mantras by myself now gasp we’re doomed! ;-)

Haha! The problem with mantras at the moment is that apart from mantra of distraction they aren’t great in sPvP because they lack the oompf they need to be competitive (compared to other utility) and without blink you don’t have a way to cast them without being easily interrupted.

So to forge a solid pvp build I ended up having to forgo mantra of distraction mainly because I needed nullfield to be competitive versus high boon professions like d/d ele and bunker guardians and those builds that dish out a lot of conditions and I wanted Mirror Images over Blink for extra distraction and emergency shatter material (not to mention the stun breaker).

That said you can definitely attempt to replace mirror images with mantra of distraction and then using blink instead of nullfield. I just found that I stood no chance versus Ele’s when I did that.

I’m pretty certain they will eventually boost mantras up a bit to make them more viable in sPvP at which point I will use them in sPvP with a vengeance. However mantras are still amazing for dungeons/pve and the support you get from them with Restorative Mantras is amazing, certainly nothing to laugh at. They can also be really great in WvW for roaming and zerg support. I just really tried to make them work for PvP and I was finding it hard to do so and only really found good use for Mantra of Distraction.

Sorry for the late reply, I checked your comment but I was busy so I couldn’t respond and then I forgot (/facepalm). You will probably want to go for berserker or maybe mix the two?

Also I’ve added a new build to the website called Athena that I theorycrafted with Miku. It’s mostly a PvP build so check it out! (Do note this build is for general sPvP and tPvP solo fun and not so much top level competitive group tPvP. That said it’s a very viable fun PvP build)

As for the video for Panacea build, I finished it but I didn’t like the results. So instead I will shortly be placing pictures to illustrate some of things discussed in the various builds as I feel some of the topics I want to illustrate aren’t lengthy enough to compile into a decently flowing video.

(Also just noticed the build is similar to Pyroatheist. Great minds think alike!)

It’s completely reasonable for them not to explain an exploit as it may give others ideas on how to exploit the game. Anet has no obligation to share exploit fixes. The only time this would be necessary is if the thing they fix is major enough to at least be notified of. Like the guild bank transport change, they at least told us about the changes. However there is really no need nor should they go into details about the exploit that was being used.

I realized how stupid it was when I thought about it earlier. I think the people talking about it thought it meant bank bank not guild bank and so they had it mixed up and then it mixed me up in return as the plausibility of the bauble thing would make sense when in conjunction with normal bank so the ‘guild’ part sort of slipped my mind.

I never use the guild vault transport. I just think it’s a waste of influence because it only takes a minute to run down to the guild bank so it feels pretty lazy to me. I don’t really see how this is such a big loss. If it was personal bank then maybe yea but guild vault? I don’t know… I don’t really feel like it’s a big enough deal to rage and complain about it as if it’s the end of the world but people sure love to complain on these forums for the sake of complaining. If this stops exploiters then it’s a thumbs up from me.

You don’t have to believe me.

But, anyways, you agree that forums are a good way to gather useful information about a game, but if the majority of forums are negative, that doesn’t reflect on the success of the game?

Fascinating. Please tell me how that logic works again…

All MMO forums are generally mostly negative because people only tend to post if they are unhappy about something. To be honest overall the GW2 forums is a lot less negative than other MMO forums I’ve seen. The only obvious thing that is still here is people mostly complaining for the sake of complaining without any really substance (apart from maybe a couple of subjects).

For example only a couple of people of my entire guild actually post on the forums, the rest is too busy actually enjoying the game. This goes for a lot of people in game. They do not bother with the forums. The forums is only a small selection of people, the vocal minority of maybe upwards a thousand of people who post regularly. What about the other hundred thousands players?

As for the game ‘dying’ you always get these silly doom and gloom threads. The game is as busy as it’s always been except for just after launch which is to be expected. I see people everywhere and majority of people are really happy with the game and play actively. These claims of impending doom are really baseless and getting tiring.

The thing people are completely missing about what Guild Wars 2 is trying to accomplish is that it’s trying to provide content for all types of people of any age. They add things like the box in the game for the people who like it just as they added fractals in the game for people who like gear threadmills.

I love the box, I don’t like gear threadmill. That doesn’t mean I start to say ‘This game is not for me because I do not like this one thing’ or ‘How dare this one concept exist in this game it does not fit with my specific vision’.

Personally I think it’s great that GW2 is broader in scope and more open to creativity, different play styles and interests. I’m perfectly fine with sharing Tyria with people who enjoy different things and letting them enjoy their content while I enjoy mine in the same space.

In the long run I much rather play a diverse game with a diverse player base that doesn’t become stale and boring than a single minded MMO where everyone is always super focused and serious on one or two things and any new content is predictably in line with the previous. Where content generally adheres strictly to it’s main gameplay which is essentially creative suicide.

All these creative fun things add a sense of liveliness to the game, unpredictability and innovation. How often do MMO’s still surprise you on a frequent basis? I like that they are able to swap between serious matters like fixing culling to adding a retro mini game for april fools. So sure it is likely that most people will not like some of the things they will put in game. Does it really matter? It’s optional after all it’s there for if you like it, if you don’t plenty of other things to do.

The best I can suggest is to wait for new content to come out. You essentially gone through all the games content faster than the average player and from what I can gather from your post you already exhausted all the things in game you had an interest in trying.

It can be hard to pace yourself though so I don’t blame you. I’ve played 2600 hours since launch and so far I only really exhausted myself with dungeons and wvw. I just started getting into tPvP finally and I only have 3 level 80’s (I love my mesmer too much!).

As for good ideas, theorycrafting is fun. You have 8 level 80’s why not go crazy and try out all kind of different builds for them? You can get quite a variety of play styles out of that and experience the game in new ways. I find that getting a character to level 80 doesn’t at all mean you understand the profession very well. My elementalist is level 80 and I’m still largely clueless in comparison to my mesmer and thief.

There’s of course the usual of completing achievements, gear sets, legendaries etc. I’m sure you already considered all this though. You could even try RP? I have no idea what that is like in this game though. Another good way to keep yourself going is to help out other players, take some newcomers into a dungeon and take the time to teach them the mechanics properly or in WvW. That kind of thing.

As I said, new content is released at a steady rate, every couple months something is new in the game so don’t feel bad about taking a break and do something else for a while so when you come back you have a fresh outlook on things and there will be new things to do.

(Also don’t forget to do all the super adventure box achievements!)

Queensdale has had a problem with leveling up since beta really. You can do all events, all hearts, do all vista, poi’s, harvest all nodes and still be under leveled once you get around that crossing waypoint area. I’m always a level or two (or even more) behind from then onward. While other zones generally keep you on track reasonably well I always find I have to do personal storyline and/or crafting (or other things) to keep up in Queensdale far more than elsewhere.

That’s coming from having leveled in Queensdale with MANY characters. I can’t recall ever having a character be on track without going out of my way to get some additional XP. When in comparison I do not find I have this issue in Wayfarer’s for example.

All I can suggest is if you do not like having to do so many things outside of exploration to get enough XP you can always go to any of the other starting zones regardless of race and see if you fair better there.

They should put an extra warning pop up before buying keys ‘Warning there is a high probability that you could spend over 200 dollars and not get an item you want nor is worth anything are you happy to proceed with this gamble?’ and if the person has accepted it, it then buys the keys. If not they can cancel doing so. At least there is a fair warning of the risk involved.

The mesmer has overall a lot of problems with traits. A lot of them are not very good or in the wrong locations and almost feels like they were randomly thrown into different trait lines rather than synergies well with the build they were intended for. I see some traits and think… why… why would you place this one here or why would anyone pick this over -list 8 different options- definitely needs a good looking at.

This is because for us to get condition removal, we either have to spec for it or sacrifice an important utility spot for it in which case the cd is too long (compared to other classes ignoring warrior lol)

Other classes have it much easier when it comes to condition removal and it hardly affects their builds

Pretty much all professions need to sacrifice an utility slot or spec for it if they want condition removal. I personally like the remove a condition when you heal trait on inspiration adept trait line. Not hard to spec into since it’s in adept and it doesn’t take away an important utility slot. Both nullfield and mantra of resolve are great condition removals. I never had issues or struggled with condition removal anyway.

There’s already an identical thread to this below this one. Anyway I posted in there already but I’ll quote myself here:

As for as I know the box was made by a separate small team that have nothing to do with the work being done on pvp. In gaming companies you rarely get the entire company working on just one thing it’s unrealistic to expect this. There are always several things being worked on at once, some content is just easier to develop and release than others.

Also have to remember that Anet is a considerably small company (300+-) for the amount of work people are expecting them to churn out. To make something new for sPvP it will take far more time to develop (such as new maps and game modes) simply because of the perfect balance they require compared to something like the box that will probably have far more freedom to move and less little details to worry about upsetting.

If anything they were very clever by using pvp holiday events to test out various systems to see how they would work in real time and how they would be received. I think this is a good sign to say they are definitely investigating their limits and possibilities.

That said of course I completely agree that sPvP is in desperate need of some love and I’m sure they will address all these problems in due time. Sometimes things that seem simple to us to fix can be extremely complex to actually make happen so we just have to be patient. At the end of the day you can always take a break and play something else till they improve sPvP up to your standards.

I’m confused by the people who are saying we do not have very good condition removal. We have some great utility options for condition removal as well as traits. I really have no clue how you could possibly think we don’t…

Ironically I actually think conditions are our weak spot. Although confusion is strong in PvP overall compared to others our condition damage isn’t great across the board. This is mainly due to the randomness of the conditions we apply. It makes it a little difficult for the enemy to remove them all (nowhere near as difficult as ‘here have 10 conditions’ necro) but it also makes it hard to stack them in intensity and so apart from confusion in pvp our conditions are quite pitiful in comparison.

How many gear sets?

I have three. Berserker, Carrion and Apothecary

I intermingle the trinkets for my condition and support build as I only started to recently work on getting a proper support gear set. For now it’s only rare apothecary gear because it is so EXPENSIVE. I might go for the alternative stat combo from caudecus’ manor though not yet decided.

Between those 3 I can make most build types even when they aren’t always ideal stats they will still generally function well. Just wish retraiting wasn’t so expensive!

Bauble bubble grind fest =.=

in Super Adventure Box

Posted by: Fay.2735

Fay.2735

6 bauble bubbles per 15 min run of first 3 boss chests per character slot per day (8 in my case) = 48 bauble bubbles per day (+ easy to get the last 2 bubbles). That’s 1 weapon skin a day that takes me about 2 hours or so to do.

Hardly difficult, long or time consuming ‘grind’ when I think ‘grind’ I think korean type MMO where you need to kill the same things for weeks to get anything worthwhile. If you really think that’s grind try Tera for 20 levels (I swear you fight the exact same mobs at level 1 the entire way through to at least level 20 where I quit) or get a full hardcore raid set in WoW

Don’t take me the wrong way it just takes a bit of practice to get the paths down and it doesn’t really take that long to get enough baubles for skins once you do. Another tip would be opening all the chests you find in the open world while doing your daily. Drops quite a few baubles!

If speed running to the end chests isn’t your thing, going out of your way to visit secrets, dig spots and open chests will significantly increase your bauble earning. Helping your friends get achievements in the box is also a good way to get baubles without it feeling grindy.

Just wanted to point out that although shatter builds are good for damage, for support apart from cry of frustration you actually want to keep your clones up to cast winds of chaos and healing. So no shatter isn’t ‘the’ best mesmer playstyle. There are many kinds of styles that work well. Mantras can also be amazing in fights, in pvp dazes are amazing and in dungeons restorative mantras heal very nicely and provide an extra burst damage boost.

They should put more of these mini game things in the various cities like they originally intended to do so they become more busy. Main reason keg brawl isn’t popular is because you can’t rely on PuGs to be goalie against the long lob throw and you can’t premake teams which is a must for this kind of thing really.

Remove laurels from pvp

in PvP

Posted by: Fay.2735

Fay.2735

Hello PvPers,

I just wanted to give some perspective from ‘the other side’ (whatever that mysterious place may be). I’ve played guild wars 2 since BWE1 and got around 2500 hours played since launch but I always largely stayed away from sPvP as it never really appealed to me initially.

I’ve done lots of dungeons, lots of WvW but sPvP… I dabbled a bit here and there never really got into the groove of things. Mainly because I only ever played hotjoin and hotjoin to put it blunt is awful with the uneven teams, auto-balancing, people come and go as they please. Just a big mess basically.

It really put me off sPvP for a long time and ‘Tournament’ always sounded kind of daunting to me because I expected it to all just be pre-made voice comm groups on there. So I never bothered looking properly into it all and so I never did. I did a couple of free tournament matches with a more experienced group once which went well but I still felt largely intimidated by getting into tournaments.

Then comes around the laurel monthly. I quickly jump to the opportunity like many others to grab some extra laurels so I joined into a solo tournament expecting to just deal with the bad experience and the usual name calling that comes along with the sPvP scene (another thing that put me off previously).

To my surprise however I really enjoyed it, from my experience in dungeons and WvW as well as the little I loitered around sPvP (And some keg brawl) I already had ample experience as a mesmer in various situations both pve and pvp. I knew the maps well enough from the little I played them previously and I really got into the feel of things. I was surprised to actually be doing better than I expected (Including some really nice fights versus higher ranked players).

Of course I am still learning (I’m hardly best mesmer EU), I don’t know all the tricks and special tactics of different maps but I do know my profession of by heart and so I’m making slow but steady progress and taking my first ‘baby steps’ into the oh so scary world of tournaments.

I’d also like to point out that not having played a lot of sPvP does not necessarily mean those people that haven’t are automatically bad players (as some in this thread seem to insinuate) new players are just that, new. They have to learn the ropes just like everyone else had to but some of these new players could turn out to be really good players who will stick around and refresh the sPvP scene with new competition.

As for me in just a couple of days time I gotten myself up to rank 10 (Deer) in between my other engagements and continued playing well after my monthly was done. I also seen the same thing happen in my guild suddenly a lot of people are doing tournaments and actually enjoying them, learning and enjoying the experience even after having done the monthly.

Sure some people will stop playing PvP after they have gotten their laurels but I honestly believe a lot of people will continue to play PvP and improve. This is a good thing, this makes for more people to fight competitively against, more people bringing in more people into the scene and I think this laurel mistake in the longer term will do more good than harm. I know it’s probably annoying to have so many newcomers around right now but you have to look at the big picture here.

I agree that there can be improvements in the queuing system, it’s not fun for either side if lower ranked players are put up against a 40+ pre-made party with voice com and it’s not fun for them to have such an easy time of it. But just because the queue system can do with improvement it doesn’t mean overall this isn’t a nice little boost for the sPvP scene.

Anyway, I will be enjoying tPvP more often from now on as will a lot of other people. Once the major laurel influx has worn off there will be a lot of new players still playing who will learn and get better. Just got to give us a chance and not instantly write us all off as ‘Insert various derogatory and condescending insults here’ just look forward to new teams and players to challenge you

See you in battle,

Lilyfay
