I’ve been doing all my dailies since launch, I’m not going to change unless ANET wants to take a kitten on everyone that completes achievements as they want some to do(leaderboards for a reason duh) by changing it from 3 or less hours to 6 or more which is obviously a flawed and failed 3 hour achievement implementation for 4 points that no lifers will do because they have 12 hours a day to play the game.

I understand not everyone is bright and doesn’t have the logic to comprehend the situation because most people on here are trolls or just don’t care and the reason for the stupid reponses. Move along and post where you can actually post some constructive critism than an arrogant response.

Not at all, I play all game modes actually and I do well in all. Well I farm YOUR guild in WvW all the time when YER not all grouped up, I just hear in WvW chat how you troll YER own server all the time. I guess that’s something to be proud of and as I said “nuff said”.

And again a useless post above me.

Why can’t people realize that the Achievement people want to do EVERY daily category for the AP you can get, is it that hard?

And people are complaining because they’re not able to without spending alot of time especially now with the Win tpvp kitten….

The daily is broken anyways, it should be like: choose 5 pve dailies, 4 pvp dailies and thats it, no more AP after these if you complete any. This makes it truly choosable for every kind of player.

If people wish to complain the others, add some silver or karma to that.

Your complaints are ridiculous. No one besides yourself is making you do these extra daily achievements. The people who ONLY play sPvP are grateful for the fact that they can stay in Heart of the Mists while playing and still complete their daily, yet here you are selfishly asking ANet to take them away because you don’t want to put in the time to stay on your precious leaderboard.

You are right. Nobody cares if someone at the bottom of leaderboards who does not even know about PvP and only plays to get AP leaves the game.

Yes pls force us to do even more stuff if we don’t want to lose any more AP coz of studid daily system , and what even worse add dailes that we can fail coz of other ppl in our team and not our performance

You don’t lose AP. You just decide not to get a few 1 AP daily achievements because you don’t want to do them. If you really are one of these people that do all the achievements only to get that 1 AP… then I think you need help.

There is tons of more stuff like living story where you constantly can get some easy 50-100 AP with each release.

Dailies you do because you like to play the game and maybe for the nice little reward chest. Not for 1 AP… lol

I’m sorry this is ridiculous. The nerve of you ap farmers to think that you SHOULD be able to get ALL possible daily APs, and that anet should cater to your farming needs, instead of also giving pvp players means to get aps (tell me how much aps are there to get in pve vs in pvp?). I know pvp players are a minority, but there are people that don’t touch pve at all and that deserve the achievement points chests too.

Yeah that’s fun. For me it would really have a bad impact on quality of life if I myself had to get all AP and play everyday only to get every single 1 AP from each daily. I think there are also other fun games and stuff you can do in GW2 besides the AP and a lot of ways to still earn enough AP so you don’t need to get all of them.

The need to get all of them… it really seems like a compulsive disorder. I think people would have more fun with the game and with their life if they somehow managed to take it less seriously and play it only for fun and not forcing themselves to get every single AP while missing some other stuff they could have done in that time(which is more fun).

Glad I stopped that early. To be honest: At the beginning I thought I also wanted to get all the stuff. But with the first minis and expensive stuff which was limited in store(I don’t want to farm hours for gold or pay tons of real money) I learned it fast and was able to get away from the “I need everything”. Since then much more fun and less trouble on my mind.

Basically exactly what this guy said.

These daily “collectors” are going to have a heart attack when ANet releases versions that are specifically tuned towards dungeons and WvW.

Mesmers in WvW isn’t all that good either, but they have a couple skills that are useful, but in dungeons mesmers have many really useful skills like feedback and time warp.

Are we playing the same game?

Mesmers are pretty crucial in zergs and small-group combat, and they make fantastic roamers. You might not want a lot of them, but every group wants at least one Mesmer for clutch Portals, Veils, Mass Invisibility, etc.

To answer your question OP, Rangers have a handful of problems that make them frowned upon in most aspects of this game. Their damage isn’t super spectacular, quite a few of their weapon sets are clunky, their defining class mechanic is riddled with bugs and just isn’t very great to begin with, and everything Rangers can do, another class can do better. A lot of dungeon groups refuse to allow Rangers to join, and in WvW, Rangers are really only good at roaming and small-group combat. However, Rangers are fantastic in sPvP.

That being said, Mesmers have a spot in every aspect of the game. It is well known that their leveling can be lackluster and a bit difficult in the beginning phases of the game, but they’re very rewarding once you get to 80.

I’m grateful for the Tomes of Knowledge, personally.

Less time wasted leveling my new Elementalist, more time in WvW.

A lot of my guildies already have all their slots filled with level 80’s what good is a tome? I don’t plan to every make another 80 in this game, so a tome is useless to me. Personally speaking.

I don’t know what you expected to get. An ascended weapon?

I mean, giving out a huge reward like that would only further encourage griefing, double-teaming, etc. simply to receive uber mega leet super awesome rewards. I don’t know about you, but my guild and I play WvW for fun; any associated reward is just the cherry on top.

So 2 conditions removed. ICD 10 seconds. 70% on chance to hit.

Remember, you can’t exactly pick WHEN the conditions get removed. It would be 2 because you it is 5 allies after all.

The active (on a 20 second timer) would still be the heal.

Would make rangers have some very important group utility.

That would be way too broken.

I’d say Staff Guardians already have broken down for condition removal. Staff #4, nuff said.

Players will also gravitate towards these kinds of simple mindless loot opportunities when they are in the game.

Unfortunately, this leaves many other engaging group events in the world untouched and other zones desolate.

While I applaud the players resilience for staying with such a dull manifestation of the game, I feel Anet should take an approach akin to paternalism* and remove the Queens zerg, in order to force change and diversity.

This may upset some players, who feel they should be able to play how they want to play, but sometimes the world demands an authority or organization to guide us gently towards perfection.

Who is with me?

I’m all for this idea, but the rage that would follow if this ever happens scares me; it probably scares ANet as well, which is why the Queensdale train is still alive and well.

Three unique elites per class is far too few, especially when compared to how many options there were in GW1.

To be fair, GW1’s larger skill pool led to a lot more useless and redundant skills.

People seem to forget that whenever they compare GW1 and GW2 however.

No, I did not forget.

The redundancies in skill choice were largely due to Factions and Nightfall. The fact still remains that the original Guild Wars offered a much larger diversity of skill options, especially when it came to Elite skills.

Raven, obviously Fort Aspenwood is the superior server. They can beat us 5v300 while cooking spaghetti blindfolded with one hand tied behind their back.

Nevermind the fact that they threw matches to join the Silver League, and ignore how close the matchup has been thus far despite their superior off-time coverage. We must admit defeat.

Hey All,

Thank you very much for your participation. I’ve just spent the past couple of hours reading through every post on this thread. There is a ton of great discussion going on.

The point of the CDI is not for us to talk about specifics about what we are working on but to open discussion with and between all of you. That said there are some pretty big misconceptions that are going around that I’d like to clear up.

First off, on Dec. 10th we are adding a new vendor that sells items for both glory and gold. Players will not be able to simply buy all the rewards with gold but will also need to use glory which amounts to time spent in PvP. This vendor is temporary until the next phase rolls out. It will be there so you can spend your glory before the new system comes into play. The new system inherently factors in time. We will discuss that system more when we are ready. As soon as we are able, we will let you know when the glory vendor will be removed.

Regarding new skills, PvP will continue to have all existing skills unlocked for players. Only new skills will require unlocks. The number of skills currently in the game can be intimidating for new players. We would like to allow them some time to learn the base set while they work towards unlocking the new skills.

Regarding gold rate, the rates chosen are based on what players can expect from average play in other areas of the game, not on farming rates. It is not our intent to make PvP a better place to farm but to make it about on par with what a typical player can expect in other areas of the game. Some of you have correctly noted that time spent in PvP doesn’t contain many of the gold sinks that PvE players experience and this has been factored in. We do want to encourage players who haven’t tried PvP to come give it a shot because they will continue to earn the rewards they get in other parts of the game. We don’t want people to feel this is where they must to go to maximize their rewards. We will adjust rates if we feel it is necessary.

Regarding exclusivity of skins. Since skins will be shared across the game PvP will be getting exclusive skins that require participation in PvP to obtain. These will be able to be carried over into all other areas of the game. I think this was a little unclear in the blog post.

There was some confusion about the achievement rebalancing. We split up some of the pools of points into additional tiers and we added more tiers on top of that. This is to allow players to get more regular achievement rewards. Your total achievement points may go up, they won’t go down and you should hit tiers more frequently than before.

This has been a great discussion thus far, thanks a bunch for your feedback. By far the most discussed topic on this thread has been the plan to remove ranks. So here are some questions for you.

Would you keep rank acquisition the same as it is now?

If not, what would you do to improve rank acquisition?

The projects listed in the blog are not exhaustive – we’re working on other things simultaneously. As John mentioned, we’re still working on game modes and new maps. As Justin has mentioned in another post, we’re also looking at ways to drastically improve the quality of matchmaking. This includes harsher penalties for afk players and leavers.

You have to understand that it’s different from our perspective; you’re always “working” on upcoming features and content, yet it hardly turns out as advertised or gets released in a timely fashion.

I mean, the Ranger’s class mechanic has been a big issue since the game was released, and it still is to this day. On top of having a lousy gimmick when compared to the other classes, they also have some subpar weapon sets and utility skills. When it’s all said and done, there are very limited scenarios where someone would say “I WANT A RANGER FOR THIS!” instead of any other class.

I personally love the flavor and the general idea behind the Ranger class, but it’s hard for me to commit the time needed to get mine to 80 since they’re really only successful in WvW as roamers and in sPvP. What I really want is for ANet to bite the bullet and admit that there is a major problem with one of their eight classes instead of pretending like everything is ok; the Ranger needs some hefty overhauls, and the new skills/traits that are supposed to come out in the near future might help, but that remains to be seen.

Honestly, this wouldn’t even be a problem if we had skins a bunch more skins that were exclusive to each PvP and PvE. Instead of having two paths to the same thing and people grinding their way through the path of least resistance, you’d instead have people using their special armor or weapon as a trophy for conquering a certain objective in a certain mode. Same issue with WvW and the fact that it needs something exclusive to it other than the Invader set.

The recent issue with the Flamekissed gem armor comes to mind.

I don’t understand where you guys are going.

I’m really concerned with the change to gold as pvp currency. Gold as a pvp reward is nice. Gold as the only pvp currency seems illogical. You have enough currencies in pve to bring down a pack mule and you think one is too many for pvp? With a shift to gold, you get the following.

  • Anyone can buy levels. Is this intended? If so, I get it. But, I really am curious if you’re okay with it.
  • A pvper has to spend gold to get new skills. (You must buy levels to get the skill points. IE: Antitoxin Spray would cost 25 levels). Seriously? If you’re going to make pvp’ers need XP. You’d better add it as a passive to the match. I don’t understand why pve gets xp for free and you make pvp exchange their rewards for it. If you want to leave us an option to buy them to power level an alt, I’m okay with that. That’s what people do with crafting anyways.
  • Anyone can buy the pvp stuff. When you shift to gold, you’ve essentially opened it to everyone. You guys are even removing ranks so that you can’t even require people to play some matches first.

Rank removal.

  • I like ranks. I know others don’t. Disregarding the farming debacles, ranks show an investment in pvp. I think they should be removed from the scoreboard. But, I think they should stick around. They give you something that lasts. WvW XP lasts. AP and luck bonuses last. Fractal levels last. Why get rid of the one lasting thing for pvp?

Lastly, can we get clarification of the following.

With this change, we will not only reward winning in PvP more than losing, but formats where the competition is higher will receive greater rewards.

Does this mean that higher placed leaderboard matches will scale rewards? Or is this some marketing speak saying “these changes will make rewards better for formats where the competition is higher!**”

By subbing glory out for gold, one can’t help but think that you’re just trying to monetize the sPvP scene. I personally think that any sPvP rewards should be earned solely through playing sPvP; I mean, I can’t WvW all day and then spend my tokens on dungeon armor, so why should PvE players be able to farm Living Story content and then come into Heart of the Mists and simply buy whatever they want? It just doesn’t seem right.

I also think that completely removing Ranks is a big mistake. As already mentioned, it’s a larger goal that you’re always working for; reaching that next Rank tier might not be in your immediate future, but it’s always awesome when you finally do get to it. I understand that you’re adding ladders in, but couldn’t Ranks stay as some sort of meta-achievement?

There were three aspects to my original point, which you claim is “incorrect,” so we’ll address them each in turn.

Part 1: Anet can rollback the armors.
This one really isn’t open for debate. It’s technologically possible for them to reset the entire server to its previous state, to simply delete the armor from all players’ inventories, or take any of a myriad of measures that would all result in a game world without the new armor. To claim otherwise demonstrates a remarkable lack of understanding of the fundamental functions of electronic storage mediums and data manipulation in the modern era.

Part 2: Anet should rollback the armors.
This is a subjective opinion, and as such can be neither correct nor incorrect.

Part 3: Anet won’t rollback the armors.
This is perhaps the only third of my argument for which you might have a leg to stand on with regards to its validity. Although I can’t claim to know definitively what Anet will and will not do, I can employ a bit of abductive reasoning. Given what I know about the frequency with which people complain on the forums about patch changes (often) and the frequency with which Anet apologizes and reverses those changes (not often) I can hypothesize that the pattern will continue to hold true for this case. Anet may be able to prove me wrong here, but you certainly can’t and the fact that they have yet to make any public statement of intent and the armor is still available for purchase would seem to indicate that I’ve got the lead here as well.

Your argument is flawed and dishonest because you’re creating an artificial separation between two parts of the original poster’s thread. You aren’t doing both because you want to somehow win the thread rather than address the original post in a meaningful way. You’ve got the “lead” after all.

To stay on topic, I was initially shocked that ArenaNet would offer a skin that is essentially T3 Cultural armor in the gem store. I did end up buying said skin for my Human Mesmer, but I still feel conflicted on the issue in general. On one hand, it’s kind of cool that they’re being less restrictive on armor skins, but on the other, they’re destroying the very thing that makes Cultural Armor what it is.

I feel bad for the people who spent their time and gold farming up their T3 set only to have an equal-or-better alternative available in the Gem Store; I know I’d be irked if they made Norn cultural armor available to everyone.

There’s a fine line to walk on this issue, and I think that ArenaNet may have overstepped it…. I’m interested to see how they handle this issue, if at all. That being said, I still bought the skin and I intend on using it.

Look, I know you guys are trying really hard to convince yourselves that you’re pulling this off without help. I understand the need for validation that you’re feeling. It’s just coming off a little defensive is all. Just take a step back, maybe get Ebay to fix you a snack and tuck you in for a nice refreshing nap and you’ll feel just fine when you wake up

I actually don’t mind YB players being happy about their performance this week, but I’d like them to keep in mind that it’s not a result of anything they are doing internally but rather what they are doing via map politics with Ebay. Map politics and 2v1s are part of the game, and if you want to do them to win it’s completely understandable. If you guys got the organization to pull off a consistent 2v1 you should do it and you’ve done it well, but don’t pat yourselves on the back for beating us and saying how much your server has improved when at the end of the day you are just a bunch of 2v1 tower huggers, and when you dare to come out of your tower it’s in blobs of 50-60 “guild groups” (I’m looking at you [One]/]SE]).

Says the server specialized in 1 blob zerg in every map and nothing else… Oh the irony…

I just spent the whole night following and then commanding in EBG, we are winning because our dedication and organization to beat the kitten out of SBI, period.

Every server blobs; it’s just ridiculous when other servers act as if they only run havoc teams and small roaming parties.

I’ve been pretty much exclusively zerg-busting the past few days, and let me tell you, EB and YB zergs are not in short supply.

Nah, it was a good learning experience. I was just being trolly. Our GvG just taught us that when you expect to fight one guild, sometimes another guild will take their place. Is DDLG around anymore? Cuz I miss their stun fields and choke points.
