I kid you not, at some point there was orange juice on the screen which once was on my mouth. This thread delivers. Worst part is, how sad and truthful this all is.

The other day I was roaming on WvW and suddenly this ele comes out of absolutely nowhere, uses a dragon tooth instantly and gets 10k out of 12k hp, follows up with 3 phoenix, by the time I was able to retaliate he had disappeared again. Somehow I survived all that by using all my 75secs+ CD then 3 seconds later BAM, same tactic again, out of dodges and out of CDs he uses his manaless spells and spam them instantly. I managed to get him to 10% but he disappeared again. 10 seconds later same tactic, at that point I quitted the game, same reason allmy friends did.

Sounds like a problem out of Anets hands, also, dont except any significant change while the season is going. My advice; have another TS ready and distributed among trustable guilds, that or good’ol way that big servers such as your do; zerg it all, and if that doesnt work, bring more people and zerg it again and you will succeed

Also, champ bags always could drop precursors, it’s just that chances for it happening are virtually non-existant.

Fun fact; I had a precursor drop in a champion bag; Chaos gun. That was a week later after getting the mace precursor in the chest after doing the 5 scepter pieces in AC.

Currently we have /rank for displaying the current rank finisher, but with the inclusion of the new ranks scaling, awesome finishers (for which I have bought more than I care to admit) and the possibility that you might just like your rabbit finisher more than the phoenix one, please introduce /finisher to display the currently equipped finisher, 1-2 mins CD.

I will keep it simple and amazing:

An armor that changes appearance based on current attunement. How will it work? Simple: in fire, the armor has a fiery/explosive look, in water it has a water/icy look, air a steamy/lighting look, earth a sandy/nature & leaves look. Only elementalists.


Commonly asked questions:

“But Fortus, what about other classes?!”

-Just like cultural and races, each class will eventually have its own

“But what I want more skins options? Do I only get this one?!”

-Right now we only have one option of legendary skin per weapon (except GS, they are superior to all anyways)

“Crafting ONE legendary is hard, imagine 6 pieces!”

You craft the set, precursors are reworked and no longer are necessary.


Lastly, i have collected 3 our of 4 minis regarding elements; [Mini Air Elemental], [Mini Water Elemental], [Mini Ember] and Im now only missing the [Mini Earth Elemental]. Perhaps combine them in the forge, to get a [Gift of Elemental Mini], plus 3 other gifts and voila, a legendary mini exclusive to eles.

Looking for info on lag in WvW

-Rubber banding
-Extreme skill lag, 5 up to 8 seconds at time, movement still possible, sometimes.

- Happens the most when all 3 servers are duking it out. It happened in our borderland when all 3 zergs collapsed, nobody in my TS or guild could do anything, we all wiped, along with most of the enemy zergs.

-Happened again in SM lord’s room, once again, 3 zergs collapsing, skills not proccing. Apparently the enemy zerg had the same issue because even though our 60+ TS team couldnt do anything, we still wiped both enemy zergs….twice.

With all this amazing stuff coming up, I cant help to wonder if all of this is one big april fool’s boop. If so, it would be the cruelest of them all. Specially the Wardrove which is something Im really hyped about considering the amoung of amazing skins I have like 2 legendaries and the shattered wings.

GoM shot itself in the foot, despite warning; we proceeded to try-hard and thus we went up in rank, and thus we felt into a 800 gem category, which nobody would pay 800 gems to go to an already low server. Regardless, the WvW community has restarted to rebuild, we have a [not so recent] return and transfers of new guilds, some of them small but organized. Right now we are just looking for coverag since we are all aware that it is night coverage what wins games.

Pretty straight forward. Now that unidentified dyes cant be adquired from mobs drop, are the only ways of getting them by laurels/gem shop? all 250 of them?

Second one, is regarding precursors. I crafted my Legendary Sunrise, but I didnt equip Dawn, at any point, that I remember. Would I still get the skin? If so, does that mean, that the way to unlock the skin is just having it in your inventory? Wouldnt that mean all I have to do is share an unbound weapon among all my friends to all of us unlock said skin, or do we have to equip the weapon in order to get the skin, making it accountbound?

Game health: power vs condi

a rant about condi’s coming from an ele of all classes. see unlike must classes in this game, ele’s actually have excellent condi removal. you should look over your traits and utilities, ele’s have plenty of options for combating condi’s.

I dont blame you for your ignorance, after all, most people who post this kind of things are a)non-ele players, or b)bunker eles specced deep into water.

Power zerker ele do NOT have the best cleansing in the game, the only spell an ele is bringing to remove conditions is ether renewal, which has a really crappy heal with the upside of a relatively low CD. Outside of the cantrip that burns 3 random condis every 40 seconds [now] without breaking stuns, it is simply not worth it an utility spot.

So no, Im sorry, power eles have the MOST right to complain about conditions, specially considering they have the lowest hp in the game, cant stealth to remove aggro/condis nor have Cleansing Ire.

Im glad that this is happening. Personally the “rot” have been starting to get at me lately, but hopefully this new resurge on red posts on the sPvP forum is shedding(?) some hope into me.

Could you also bring up the issue of S/D and D/P thieves driving away damage dealers in sPvP? Specifically backstab and constant teleports. I can link you to this thread which exposes a lot of the points and can give some community feedback about it.

Why is there still no dueling?

Here are my reasons why I want open world dueling;

-The game has beautiful views, I want to fight people while have visual ‘orgasms’.

-Access to armor stat combination, food and looks of choice

-Insta fights with people that are willing to fight me, no more 20 mins on a borderland trying to find some roamer, only to either be chased off by a zerg/intrusion from mates/walking back from death.

-Gathering places outside cities, on community-organized arenas, such as Fire shaman, where people could show case ‘dueling tournaments’ with ‘viewers’.

-Community can find spots in the maps that would otherwise be ignored. Exploring might actually become a thing again, trying to find the best spots for fights, or people fighting.

-Make up for awesome videos showcasing individual skills and beautiful views of the game for people that want to seee certain players, players who have not explored in-depth, heck, even for people who dont play the game which can get to see how darn pretty our game is (I know it has worked for me before with some other games)

-Can become hubs for builds, exchange of ideas, training ground for new WvW recruits, friendly fist interchange, group of players actively playing rather than AF|k’ing waiting for their TP stuff to sell.

I can definitely see myself playing WvW more often if this happens. A good badges:tome ratio would be 50 given how thats the average I make on an hour and a half or so, about the same time it takes me to level up in PvE.

Blinding Ashes synergy

Im actually thinking on doing some builds involving flaming axe, perhaps a condi build involving 30/0/30/0/10 with stone heart and blinding ashes, scepter/focus, condi flame axe, frost bow or maybe signet of fire instead, sit on earth vs bursters, reason being for the scepter because it earth #1 is a bleed of long duration, and #1 a burn, maybe the trait that gives a 33% chance for burns when you crit, together with carrion, a sigil of intelligence for 3 guaranteed crits. I can definitely see a bleed/burn/blind spamming ele, my only concern would be the sustain and condition cleansing. Eithe rether renewal or signet of restoration, one give me condi removal the other sustain, but cant have both. I will figure it out when the patch comes and I see the new runes.

Why Stone Heart was a bad move

For a similar reason Diamond skin was; it does not address the real issue with ele’s lack of tools for survival.

Here is a breakdown of perceived vs actual results;

-It will make them immune to crit-based builds. Not true, in order for this trait to take effect, the ele must be in earth attunement. Every experienced ele player will tell you how little time you spend in that attunement due to lack of damage and rotations CD. I would like to challenge anyone to beat a WvW backstab thief or a Eviserate warrior with only earth attunement

-You can now go full glass cannon and not have to worry about crits. So false. Once again, earth attunement doesnt have any major damage spells, in fact, have very few, and all of them very unreliable on long CD. But this point isnt about the skills, but rather the traits. Earth offer toughness and condition damage. A glass cannon ele has absolutely no use for conditions, specially since we only have burning and bleed, most classes can cleanse at least 2 conditions, making us completely useless as condi speccs. Lastly, taking that trait line shut us from taking more direct damage focused traits and trait lines.


The real ele’s lack of survival has not been addressed at all: high CD on skills key for survival, such as cantrips, RtL, lack of defensive traits on offensive tres such as air and fire. (im sorry, but a blind on burn with an ICD, taking the spot of a 30 points grandmaster is not fair, at most it should be adept or master)

Possible solutions:

-Move the new blind on burn to master.

-Replace the new grandmaster air trait with something worth it of being up there, not a lighting that gives weakness on interrupting….. as if we had that many interrupts.

-Fire aura: make it more accessible; on hit it burns a condition on self, 1 sec ICD, burns a buff on the opponent 3 secs ICD. Make it more desirable. Make the leap + fire give 2-3 mights instead of fire aura.

-A trait on air that every time you use a glyph, you get an aura based on attunement, 4 duration.

You have so much potential, auras and glyphs are unique to elementalists yet they do so little in our aid. You have the potential for the class to feel unique, yet our core mechanics are being ignored

Let me get this out of the way straight up;

I play (mostly) elementalist, staff power elementalist. I have played it since headstart and will continue to do so until gw3 comes out in 2 years from now.

It aches me very much that you are deciding to shut down one of the already borderline gone builds in the game; power builds, because dungeons were faster than you wanted. As an elementalist, I have struggle beyond human belief to stay alive amidst backstabbing thieves and eviserate warriors, PU mesmers and dhummfire necros, MM necros and zoo pet rangers, hambows and condi warriors, D/P and S/D thieves, bunker engis and perplexity bunkers. As you can imagine, it has been a long and frustrating path, but I held on tight, because, at the end of the day, while I had no healing to offer, no health to tank any stray AoE, no low CD CC to provide, no conditions to reliably put, I still had my damage to give in a teamfight when everyone turned theirs eyes away from me.

Now you have taken that damage away, and here is whats wrong with conditions and why they will destroy the health of the game;

-Passive, non-skill dependent point-&-click insta win buttons on low CD
-No real warnings. Most of them are point and click or insta cast, unlike most AoE power based spells
-Damage simply ignores defense. Low hp classes such as eles and thieves got the most to lose.
-Very few counterplay, cleanses on longer CD than condi reapplication. Not fun to watch.

This will affect roamers and small scale combat the most. Prepare to have WvW become the same monotonous inbalanced poor state of an esport that sPvP has become, only that in WvW it will be worst. Power classes had a chance at beating things in WvW due to stats difference, now, no more.

Anyways, I know it is a rant and all that, but step by step I feel Anet wants to mvoe from skill-based game to point-&-click for casuals who are too stupi…… unskilled to dodge a giant red circle with a delayed explosion. Yay for passive playing

Personally Im a particle sucker, and I like big, unrealistic, imposing shoulder pads. Why? No idea, but I do, been like that for years. Right now radiant set is my perfect armor, I already have everything but the boots, and i dont like how thye are for 21k AP when im still at 10k, kinda very unrealistic.

I also love above all; detailed armors. By that I mean armor that have intricate patterns into it, such as human heavy t3, or heavy armor from CoE, or the aptterns on the radiant back part of the shoulder pad.

Examples of what i mean by intricate patterns on golden shiny armors, without having to fall in the unrealistic particle shoulders that I also like: (This is also from GW1, from Prophecies, Rhaegar Lannister, an NPC)

elementalists are in a real bind; they straight up suck in PvP but they still had a niche in PvE with FGS. They said that they are first removing the rush on PvP and later doing so in PvE. The teleport/rush bug im glad they are removing, it was game breaking and truly OP, but for PvE agaisnt a wall, when the reason it is used is because necessity rather than anything else?! Im sure they wont compensate because thats the way they work, but Im sure that soon enough warrior’s rush wil be able to do that damage, that way things get “balanced”.

Anyways, zerkers are taking a hit regardless, I guess Anet prefers tanky/condi boring fights where the enemy just click twice and runs around while you bleed to death, fun fun fun esports!

Eles "sigil of intelligence"

Sigil of Intelligence allows you to do a 3 crit attacks after swapping, on as short CD to 5seconds (in the case of warriors), but it seems that eles have a very similar arcane spell (5 hits though), that its only difference is the fact that it has 45 seconds CD……quite gruesome considering now anyone can now get it for free. Do we have any incoming changes to said spell? The was no real reason to take it before and now it sure as heck isnt any reason to take it anymore at all, not even for proccing arcane traits.

While we are on it, do you mind fixing chill affecting attunement recharge? No other class has weapon switching nor mechanics affected by chills, such as DS, or initiative, etc…. It is really crippling, specially for a class that completely and solely relies on its “weapon swapping” mechanics.

first of all, lets dispell the ignorance;

30/30/30/30/30 ele wont be happening any time soon, so they will have one or the other, not both unless they go 30/0/30/0/10 or some weird innefective build like that

Attunements are also there. An ele sitting on earth isnt helping anyone….at all. Eles ar not immune to crit builds, eles are simply immune to crits WHILE on earth attunement.

Also, the blind is applied once ever 5 seconds when applying a burn. One blind every 5 seconds is absolutely nothing vs thieves blind every 1 second.

Lastly, in case you didnt notice, ALL classes got giant buffs, such as mesmers and thieves, which now became even worse of a counter to eles with their decreased damage while stealthed and more power while revealed……

Eles will not see any play anytime soon unless thieves are nerfed, until then, enjoy you 1-week-long-FoTM-ele until every realizes they still need help

Please show me a thread where people want classes to remain unbalanced and toxic. Up until now, both ingame and in forums I have never heard anyone (serious) state that they want such toxic and unbalanced game.

Im sorry, but I dont think that is a bias, it is simple truth corroborated by the countless threads and commenters asking for balance. Everyone have different views on whats out of balance, but as proved by upvotes and threads about the topic; thieves and warriors are indeed out of balance, plain a simple.

No class changes should EVER occur based upon spvp. Maybe, and I mean maybe, 5% of the gamers play this. 95% of the player base should not be penalized to make that 5% happy.

oh is that so? Well then, 40 secs 1200 range RtL would have to like a word with you, healing regen vigor duration for eles would also like to have a word with you. Face it, class balance should be dictated mostly for an enviroment where all classes are on equal footing. But of course, each part should have their own balance, which is why there should be more splits between PvP and PvE.

Besides, any decent game developers knows better than in order to keep a game healthy they must make the changes needed, not the changes that might make a few people happy. Your problem is that “thief is your only class since beta”.
You don’t know how it’s like for the receiving side.

Most hard-core thief defenders usually have been playing the class since the beginning, most of them suck BIG TIME on them, and they think that the class is ok but they do subpar, or worse; they do decent, which given the easy skill floor on the class and how it is really hard to do bad on them, they think of themselves as decent players and think of the class as decent since thats all they can get out of it.

For all those thieves that keep defending the class so much I advice you to roll a 12k hp ele and take it anywhere in the world and wait for a thief to hit you with a 13k backstab and tell me that the class is ok, or have a thief jump on you 5 times with steal/shadowstep and 3 other teleports from either pistol or the sword in any of their cheese specc and try to shake off said thief, and to actually kill the thief. If they can bring proves of this vs good thief players then they can claim w/e they want.

Until then, I will keep believing my eyes because thieves is all I see in tPvP, they are the apex predator of GC, the untouchables, the ones driving away mesmers and elementalist GC since they stick like glue and can be devastating agaisnt anyone 1v1 if played decently at least.

Balance Patch - Changed Your Mind about 8%?

we have nerfed the passive by 8% but at the same time we have buffed the active,when you’ll push it:
- you will go in stealth for 5 seconds at the end of the stealth you fear(6secs) foes and if you break the stealth you don’t get revealed.
- steal 5 enemy boons and grants them to allies and you.
- transfer 5 condis to enemy foes.
- 125% bonus damage for 6 seconds.(maybe we will increase to 150%)
- torment,confusion,burning,chill,cripple and fear for 8 secs to foes in a 750 radius.(unblockable ofc)
- 99,8% chanche to trigger lyssa rune when you heal.
- active heal : heal you and your allies for every warrior in party :
1 war heal 7k
2 war heal 10k
3 war heal 15k
4 war heal 20k
5 war heal full life.
- if you get interrupt while healing you will moa enemy foe and steal them their gold(5 sec cd,unblockable ofc).

fear will be no more breakable by a condicleans or stunbreaker.
signet cooldown reduced to 10 secs.

lose the gold stealing part and you got a pretty legit possible patch note…..which is just sad….

oh, for thieves lets give Backstab a 2x damage coefficient, make it hit max damage regardless of where it is hit, have it have a 3% extra damage per each 1% of hp missing on the enemy, and have 150% extra damage on targets above 90% hp.

Hmm, im still not happy, what if blinding/evading/dodging an attack from thief didnt reveal them, also, lets give them an ability that applies a blind every second so that nobody ever have a chance to do everything, negate 5/8 downstates oooh and maybe all ranged autoattacks should also apply blind through this field. Also lets give them plenty of condition cleansing and health on stealth, and give stealth an almost 100% uptime so that it is fair. Lastly, lets make stealth not be broken by anything, and by anything we I mean nothing at all, not even skilful AoE or skilfully aimed CC. Hmm, am I missing something? Yah, lets give them plenty of teleports which break stuns and give them unparalleled damage vs other glass cannons. We should combine it all in a weapon specc, yah, that should be balanced

First off, I love the LS update, I find it refreshing and the new mechanics are better than the zerging/stacking on a boss tll the end, specially what you did with the visible AoE lines.

With that being said, I really didnt like Scarlet dying, in fact, I almost felt something you would resembling ‘sadness’ when she died. I understand a lot of people dont appreciate the character and consider it poorly written, but I personally found the character quite far away from cheesy and cartoonish, and in fact I liked her as a villian.

No, Im not trying to do this for attention, ig anyone ever were to dig my posts since the Scarlet release I ahve always liked her, including her voice acting.

Maybe Im just biased since I only play Sylvari, or because I grew watching villain/heroes struggles during my childhoo, but she actually made me feel a hero on my own way, and my upbringing is that a hero doesnt kill the enemies, because that wouldnt make them any better than the villain itself.

You also wasted the opportunity to expand on a character that already had a good background and motives, maybe imprison, “rehabilitation”, something, but to kill her was a waste, you are throwing away great content, just like all the temporary content on the previous updates.

I hope this was just a deceiving of some sort, Im not satisfied with such a cold ending for such a character. Yes, I liked Scarlet, and no, i dont like playing bad guys nor I ever liked the joker, I have always been a batman guy.

As an ele main; I agree, but in turn to increasing sustain to being made viable, the sustained damage must also go up, specially staff, and scepeter where the vast majority of the skills are unreliable, such as dragon tooth or any of the 18/20 AoE skills in staff.

I was gonna post something too but Thedenofsin.7340 and manveruppd.7601 already covered my exact same points, in a beautiful and constructive way, something that 4 months ago I would have been able to write, but not anymore due to the “rot” getting to me.

However, I would like to add the fact that I do understand a little how it is dealing with this. Having worked in costumer service for a few years I can relate with being blamed for everything even when there is nothing you can do, or any way the problem can be related to you. But you have to understand our frustration;

CDI feel like giant venting threads made to appease the plebs.
Repeatedly we are told the “forums are a small minority” yet you keep saying that our feedback is important, that we have implemented changes. Well, I dont see it that way, call me cynic but I believe the “changes” we as a community passed on the game are no more than your own ideas which we also came up with at some point.

We feel like toddlers, with overprotective, overshadowing and condescending granparents. “Thats nice, dear”.

Problems which have been talked about, suggested solutions, but nothing has been done around (as noted by the previous thread);

-Spamming conditions (low CD, high damage, nearly unconterable)
-AI spam (I came to play PvP, not PvE)
-Stealth spam, blind spam, backstab spam, teleport spam. Nobody enjoys laying agaisnt thieves, nobody. Most people reroll thieves out of neccessity (see the last 3 pro mesmer players who did it, 1 ele)
-Elementalists being the underdog of the game, since basically ever.
-Powercreep
-Warriors faceslam
-Elementalists, elementalist, elementalists.

W/e the case, this thread will probably go unnoticed and will definitely probably have no effect whatsoever except to “vent” fumes from the community.
