I hope mounts will come in a way that offers players a 25% speedboost while on em, just like the static speedboost signets and traits.
A player will not automatically be dismounted while getting into combat but can dismount when they use any of the skills on their skillbar.
I don’t think mounts break immersion at all. Just don’t introduce mounts that do not make sense, like unicorn mounts. On the other hand, I dislike the unicorn bow, unicorn finisher and a lot of the weird minis and those got in the game :P
Introduce Dolyak, warg, drake mounts and whatnot seems sensible to ride in the Guild Wars universe.
This guy pretty much got it when it comes to mounts. My guardian and Mesmer would be hppy! Also, make entering it so that attacking dismounts you, but entering in cmbat doesnt dismount you. You cant mount until you are out of combat (to prevent WvW wussies).
As far dueling, give people options to auto-decline duels, however make it default to have it unchecked.
I honestly think that Anet is being very cautious about this but never have I seen them state they are opposed to any of this.
In fact, I would say they have been trying to “revolutionize” dueling but so far have failed; PvP custom arenas which they have to scratch since not many people wanted/asked for them as far as dueling goes. Now guild halls, but soon enough once people realize how difficult it might be for a non-guildy to get there since they have to get out of their way, and then fight in a place that will get boring after 3-4 months, I foresee the same batallion of people coming back and requesting a proper, legit open world system. My guess as to why it hasnt been ut into the system yet? Spaghetti code that doesnt allow for the technology to be there yet.

Except, people aren’t stupid. You cannot “soften the blow” and the haters you mentioned are going to leave if something (or enough) of what they don’t like is being introduced.
Now the question is if it is wise to drive away thousands of players who had been around for ages while desperately looking for a way to reinvent the game.
Drive away a few thousands (that will come back a few weeks later once they realize how GW2 is still above most of the competition, and improving) and bring in hundred of thousands.
From an algebraic point of view, it is worth it.

Im noticing a trend with some highly asked requestes that virtually most people want (except a very vocal forum minority)

+++Anet introduces wings+++ Haters hate. Most players (me included) are happy, Anet makes $$$, haters accept it like they accepted shortbows that shoot unicorns and supersaiyan charrs.

“No, flying isnt meant for this game! This isnt WoW. Never gonna happen”
+++Anet introduces Gliding+++. Hint hint, wings introduced before to soften the blow to that vocal minority. Most players are happy, Anet makes money, haters adapt and even cheer gliding.

“Nope. Mounts dont go with this game, this isnt WoW, use WP”
+++Anet introduces riding mobs, hinthint, just like wings before gliding(!!!!)+. Most players are happy and looking forward to mounts, Anet will make a LOT of money, haters will hate.

-“Nope! Dueling is for virtually every other sane MMO with some shred of common sense and PvP community, dont bring [insert 98% of MMOs in the market] here, go to sPvP to try your inflexible armor/trinkets w/o foods/elixirs in a totally different setting on the Mist!”
+++Anet introduces Guild Halls dueling+++. Most players are looking forward to finally enable a basic MMO function (as with templates) that allows players to find beautiful places in the beautiful open world of Tyria where they can create beautiful promotional videos of players duking it out on beautiful landmarks that attract even more F2P players and even converts them.
Notice the trend? Introduce something something that will soften the blow (wings/gliding) (mobs riding & carpet, broom, etc/mounts) (guild halls dueling/open world dueling) (ponies/character creation freedom) before putting something highly sought after that virtually most of the community wants and would generate $$$ and +1 points for Anet.

I ran a tanky decap rev, Unrelenting Anguish takes almost the entire (functionally does actually) point in some maps so i just spammed that until it decapped, and if the fight extended long enough I would actually cap it. Won 2 games thanks to that!
Seeing that Im planning to keep using the class, I would prefer if the area was as big as Foe’s mid point, it might just be balanced (/s)

I remember seeing these 5 guardians in the mist practicing their combo. They looked like one of those vanilla WoW multiboxers….. i thought they were hacking based on how synchronized they were at times. Their names and look did give me a good laugh!

With the incoming Leagues, I think it is time we talk about SoloQ and TeamQ again, in a more serious light.
Lets face it, nobody likes long queues, nobody. However we have to consider whats more important; the health of PvP on the long road or cathering to teams so that they dont get long queues?
Lets look at more successful games out there as a reference (there is nothing wrong with making comparison, if anything we need to learn from those who have succeeded so that we can improve on it), a game that allows up to 2 premades maximun in solo queue, the other option is a full 5 man premade, that will ONLY fight agaisnt other 5 man premade (seems only fair). In this game you divide your forces into 3 lanes and there is a jungle for the 5th player to dwell.
I think I speak in the majority when I say that it is NOT fun to play vs a 4 or 5 man premades as a full pug or most pug.
If we want to have fairer matches I think this is only logical.

well, I remember on the last datamine we get a bunch of glyph’s skins, so it isnt so far fetched. I doubt they will have the same C, but could very well be like glyphs where effects change only a little, and we might actually get shafted on the utilities by getting some random glyphs nobody would use again. Lets hope not

Im really tired of being put in 5 premades vs 5 pug, it just isnt fun.
I understand that premades also want to play agaisnt people, but msot matches agaisnt premades are total stomps.
Lets learn from more successful games out there; LoL. You can play up to 2 party in solo queue, after that, it is 5 man vs 5 man or nothing.

Upon new thoughts, on top of the 2m 1w, the 3w for rev, challenger and guild hall, you will be on 3 months, then add a 3-4 week beta testing, 2-3 weeks for beta evaluation and bug squishing, a couple stress tests, you might easily get on 4-5 months, minimum.
Who knows, Anet might surprise us though!

Based on the fact that they are releasing specializations one at a time, there are 9 of them, and that they might break the usual “1 Tuesday a release, the next Tuesday a Gem Release” and do 1 specialization per week;
9 weeks in total. Not to count Revenant hasnt been released, no talk on guild halls, or “challenging content”.
We are in for a long haul boys, we might be lucky to get it before the end of summer.
But it is ok, as long as it comes out polished Im willing to wait

I have mentioned this a couple of times but I think it is definitely worth mentioning again;
The iconic weapon of a guardian should be, as the name implies, a shield. Right now it is their most underwhelming, boring and plain weapon you can get. Besides #5 with its very limited uses in PvP ress/capping points, it is not worth taking over focus or torch, by far!
I have long dreamed about playing a sword/shield | GS guardian that is fully offensive.
I would say that the aegis on #4/#5 should be already built in. As for the offensive part of the trait; make it so that the damage is increased (also add some damage to 5) and there is no casting time/self root.

Anet, I hope you realize what you have done…. you have now set the bar so high for the upcoming skins that I truthfully dont think you can live up to such a work of art.
On a separate note, do you mind making the outfits armors instead? I kinda like miss matching and your game is built upon cosmetic, it sort of makes me sad that I can customize my looks :/
+1 for Balthazar Regalia, perhaps the BEST heavy armor skin I have seen in any game to date (Sunrise best sword too!)
Can they live up to it? sure. Not everybody likes their armor to be completely over the top. They did set the bar for over the topness, however, so if you want more over the top, prepare to see some really bizarre things.
My [long] experience on MMOs tell me that for the most part; the better looking the armor, the more people will like it. Granted, different people have a different concept of what better looking means, but in a game with giant dragons that shot lasers, angry fire sprites, a magical creatures all over the place, most people don’t want [lame] “realistic armors”, they want armors that match the craziness of the magical world they live in.

…and seriously people, stop it with whining about outfits, it’s really getting annoying. Some don’t like outfits, some (including me) love them.
lol chill, nobody is “whining” about it. Im glad you like them, so do I, but think about it, if they were armor then you would still be able to use them as a full set (outfit as it currently stands) and as matching armors (for the rest of us), and everybody is happy

You guys arent getting the point;
If a new skin that isnt account/soul bound comes out and it is a super rare drop and you get it and you KNOW it will keep dropping (like all the champion bag skins, which most people sold as they got it and waited for the prices to crash to actually get the skins) you will try to get some profit out of it.
Had I known it would suddenly be changed to account bound I wouldnt have sold my hard earned skin. It became account bound without warning and now I was left without the skin and the opportunity to get it.

All I ask is the chance to get the skin again, as it was available to everyone when it first came out and suddenly we got it denied.

When the track first came out there was no warning whatsoever that the backpack would be made soulbound.
I sold mine because as most new, highly sought out NON ACCOUNT/SOUL BOUND items tend to be high in price when they first come out and then drop in price, where you can rebuy it once the fury calms down.
With the new outfit (commendable one at it!) I now have a reason to want the backpack again and I think it is a little bit unfair that we are punished for something that nobody told us would be that way!

I think it had to do something with them having to check for every interaction with armors so that they wouldnt clip or interact in some other weird ways with other stuff.
Also because they have been selling armor parts as stand-alone for quite a while at 400-500 gems, if they were to release 6 parts for the price of 700 gems there would be OUTRAGES on the forums and everyone would demand a refund or compensation of some sort
tl;dr doesnt make profit, angry costumers, too lazy to test clipping.

Cmon Anet, the amount of people who has been asking for White Wings is huge, yet only the black ones are introduced?
I instantly felt the same way. What it seems to me is the art team has a taste for the negative. Pretty much every opportunity to make something look dark, dead, on fire, marred, broken, old, sick, tarnished, or basically anti life, they’ll chose to do it. It’s why the appearance of the game is so narrow.
For the black wings, I’d rather have a whole other set created. Look at the general structure, uniformity, and texture or each feather, then you’ll see why changing the color wouldn’t be enough.
I feel you.
The amount of “fire theme” and “dark themed” or “spikes themed” armor/weapons in the game is insane…
There are very few options for those of us who love heavy armor without spikes; eg I like armors such as the Brand or the Radiant set (which bright particles aside, the attention to details in the patterns is incredible!)
Spikes clip with everything. Fire and Death gets dull after a while. I honestly feel that Im in the minority when I play “holy-ish” characters.
As far as the White wings goes, I wold definitely like it if they were a little more spaced to the sides (as in a little tinsy bit more open) and also if it had a really light Genesis (hammer skin) aura/particle.
I would FINALLY finish up my Holy White Guardian archetype I have wanted to finish up so badly (missing some Radiant parts though….grrr AP gains ..)

I love the new finisher UI change, but I noticed that I couldnt pick which ones would be rotated around.
Can we set some sort of favorite such as that there is a 100% it will be picked from that pool or at least show those 8/10 times or something along the lines (100% seems better to me and I would imagine easier to code(?))

Wouldnt it be nice for us to get taunt on shield #4 ?!
Think about it;
Taunt is sort of attributed to “tanks”, guardians are pretty much the standard definition of a MMO’s tank and we ALL know how UNDERWHELMING shield is already, so wouldnt it be nice for us to get taunt on shield #4 and thus gaining some utility with it?
Imagine PvP mid point, facing the allies and enemies, giving allies protection, pulling enemies to you, dodging yourself to the corner of the point and then using shield #5 to get them all off points. With protection/retaliation/burn on block/etc it would synergize beautifully and would be very thematic of guardians!

I want to go beyond “who was first” and rather go more into the “why X would fit better than Y from a RP point of view”, if a human/sylv/norn had jumped after the sword they would have been the first one, which isnt a satisfactory explanation at all tbh.

I went and searched every single precursor, there is a SHARP crash on every single one of them at 12, quickly restored and now they are all trending down!
We did it guys! We finally dont depend of the mystic toilet/farm/credit cards.
Sure, it might be a difficult task, but just knowing that it is achievable trough hard work and that you can see progress is good enough for me!

Personally Im more concerned with PvP templates.
WvW should NOT have templates unless you are on/nearby the “home” WP of the map.
PvE seems complicated (needs items to match, etc) so maybe it could a simple one, with very simple “all or nothing” kinda things like :

and yet there is not a single person out there that wants more than 1 thief on team… but it is fine to have multple wars, guards, engis, eles, necros, rangers even mesmers on same team~

So would you rather have a full team of 5 bunker guardians, or 5 cele engis, or 5 power ranger, or 5 necros , etc etc?!

I would you like to watch a football game with 11 goalies, or 11 trainers, etc….. They are both vital yet you dont see european leagues asking for several of them…..
Thieves are prevalent in ALL teams, every single one of them, throughout the entire history of the game since release, unlike other classes, which had literally 0% in some competitions, namely elementalists.

Has it really taken 2 years to finally start to catch on onto these classes(thieves mostly really) and their completely near unavoidable damage that cant be blocked/blinded/revealed(by most)/seen/prevented from being spammed in a few secs?
My friends literally quit this game because both thieves and mesmers a few months after release; we all come from PvP backgrounds in WoW (2,3k -2.4k rating arenas), Rohan (outright imbalanced), 2moons, among other asian and american mmos…. so we are not, by far, inexperienced. I managed to make them play again a few months ago and once again it didnt take more than 3 months to make them quit for the very same reasons they first quit. They are now back into WoW, where they reached high rating in arena last season….once again….
High damage shouldnt be coupled with high mobility and escaping potential on top of being spammable, unpredictable and near unavoidable.
Perhaps it is time that Anet revises the balance seriously. My biggest proof that they dont really care about the PvP community is the grindboard; NOBODY can disagree with me in this one when I say that it was designed for casuals to feel good, for PvE grinders to grind their way to the top, like they are used to in any other content they do. Once season was over they went back to PvE to farm there, period. Meanwhile we PvP players are left with a slap at best.

Although some of us dont particularly like some aspects of PvP right now (namely grindboard) I [we?] still want to thank you for being perhaps the MOST active Red on the entire forum (so far that I know of).
I [we?] know that you are working hard and dont mind taking the heat and have tanked the forums through all of this. Thanks for not giving us the silence and thanks for being comprehensive with how "warm* things can get.
I really hope your initiative to be this active among the community spreads around and we see more Red posts.

Its ok guys, the “fight” is over, I dont think we ever had much of a voice in this regards, or perhaps we gave our voice too much “value” and we are just “too vocal” of a minority and in reality the vast majority of the people are fine with this.
I just really hope Anet’s way of “measuring” whether we are ok with this new leaderboard isnt just games played/times we checked the board logged in, because I for once do NOT like the new grindboard and I have been playing a LOT of PvP lately nonetheless (rmostly ranked because I didnt know I could do rated achievements on the other queue -_-’ )
I think this new grindboard was implemented to promote casuals to play more often even if they were doing poorly since effort (aka time spent PvPing) was being rewarded almost (if not more) than skills/improvements.
Maybe it worked, it had people farming for a spot (like I did, got to 232 only to decay to 290 a day later when there was a day left till season’s end, getting me nothing) and thus increased PvP players in a way, thats good on a short run, although those players will go back to PvE/dungeons/TP/Champions/AFKing in cities again.
If it did that then I thank the new players but can now safely ignore any form of skill measurements in the game, which for a PvP community can be devastating on the long run

Personally I dont like how leaderboard now feels like a grindfest rather than a feat to achieve a high rank.
Take this from a guy who is in “rank 290” and at some point was at “rank 232” a couple of days ago, which I though would award me the mini, only to logging and see that over 2 days I lost the “spot” due to 58 people below playing more games than me….
I honestly dont care about the mini and considering the volatility of the leaderboard currently I knew that the moment I were to stop playing I would lose my “spot” not to a better player; but someone who simply played more than me….
How am I supposed to measure “skill level” when the only measure I’m really been shown is “How many games have you played?”
I honestly, honest to which ever god you workship, HONESTLY, HONESTLY want to see how I measure agaisnt other players in terms of skills…… perhaps the points system is working as intended and people with high number of points do have more “skills”, butit doesnt feel that way, at all! In fact, if you scroll down the ranks from rank 1 to rank 500 you will clearly see a trend not in %, or losses, but in number of won games, like clear cut trend.

I may be missing the point you’re trying to make, but you get the exact same achievements in unranked as you do in ranked. They both count as ‘rated arenas’, which seems to be a term you are mixing up with ‘ranked arenas’.

Thanks for the suggestion but that isnt quite what I’m looking for since they still dont cover what actually happened inside the game; events (which are now going to be empty and thus I wont get to be able to experience them), dialogs and story (which would require me to actually play the content, which I currently cant do), items/jump puzzles/hidden gems/curious facts, etc (which i currently cant obtain/see due to reasons already explained).
I was hoping a video covering the gist what happened (I dont mind spoilers) from a player’s point of view, not a release video’s point of view.

Personally I used to queue in team queue because rewards were better and the games didnt feel all that different tbh; since evveryone else was doing the same, solo queue in team queue for better rewards.
I would prefer a LoL approach though;
Solo queue can be Duo queue’ed but ONLY 2 max.
Team queue can ONLY be a 5 man team.
I understand that it would HURT the 5 team people, A LOT, I get it…. but lets be honest: most of us mostly solo queue or duo queue at most, it feels unfair to be in a 4+1 vs 1+1+1+1+1 in what is now become too often to deal with, and with the same rewards as any other queue…… Im playing ranked instead of unrated simply because of achievements…. at least in the old system there was a better reward (rank points)….now it just feels wrong…… a ripe….so that 3+ groups have less queue…….

Hello, I have been out since August in term of LS (although I do log in for PvP every now and then) so Im completely lost on this current season as far as story goes. Is there any video recap that covers up to this last new released episode that I could watch?
I tried Otter and Mattvisual but neither seem to have uploaded any about it, woodenpotatoes goes above and beyond duration and content as far as lore/expeculations go so I cant spend 40+ mins x 8 videos (more since I couldnt specifically find one per episode :/ ) where I might or might not get to know what actually happened.
Hence why I’m asking here on the forums if maybe someone has a relatively short video (or maybe a link from the afore mentioned people that I missed) that I could watch as a recap, as to not start the game completely out of the loop.
