It honestly doesn’t matter really on your pet, if you time it right you get the 7 stacks of might which is nice.
So Drakes probably are the best pet, at least in PVE they are.
As for Sword in 1v1, I agree on that Forzani, I would always use it in 1v1, but whenever I zerg with this build I get super annoyed switching out of Axe cause of how nasty Axe is, Think i’ll just take off sword when zerging.
I actually instantly stacked 25 stacks of Bleeds on someone yesterday I pop Hunter’s Call on them and time I ran over and pop them with Split Blade he had 25 stacks.
I am really close to changing up like you were thinking. Axe/WH + A/T
I use Sword as a mainhand but find in many fights when I switch to sword/Torch I apply some fire condition then am out of commission to weapon timer allows me to go back to axe….no regen means I prefer to stay at range
Can only get it to 14 bleeds
Apparently missing the trick to get it to 25
I’m debating how Sword/Torch right now, I’m actually liking Axe main hand to much, i’m still thinking about just removing the Sword main hand when running with a zerg, that way I can weapon swap and still keep Axe Main hand on both offhands.
For zergs that might be a better combo. Maybe even SB. I need sword to buy time in 1v1 fights…especially vs Thieves.
…and I have to say. I just came from a couple week stint using LB/GS high crit chance high crit damage zerker build….and this kills faster. I never would have believed it. I was a tad worried about no healing but that hasn’t been a big problem.
This is the first time I actually search out thieves. If I know one is there I stand in my traps and wait for him. One died so fast that I though for sure someone else had helped…but nope…was just me.
Thanks X
I think you are correct in saying that s/a damage is better than GS. Plus the in combat movement is fantastic. I can’t duplicate the movement of GS though. I can do it ok when fighting and want to bail. I don’t gain any distance though if already moving forward.
I need to do more research because the only spirit I like the looks of is Stone. 3 seconds of burn every 10 seconds….swiftness…10% damage add. None of the others seem that big of deal.
The body block is funny but don’t know how it would work in wvw
http://www.twitch.tv/xsorovos/b/434934350
Short video showing how powerful the new horn is in terms of doing bleeds
Sharpened Edges Trait ?
Going to play with it, but right now using LB to stealth then Maul.
I honestly thought these were fake when I first read them.
Not sure how Moment of Clarity is without being Asura, however if you’re Asura, i highly recommend it.
Technobabble becomes just nasty with it.
Being able to Chain Daze for a very long time is very very powerful
As for Armor Preference, i’ve tried my Technobabble Ranger Dazer Build (which is sort of similar to this) with multiple gear sets, and Clerics Armor built similar to BM Bunker honestly works the best.
Rangers just don’t support Power/Crit damage builds very well unless you do niche’s like Maul Builds (which does work, esp if you’re Sylvan) however things like Knights and such just kind of blah since our pet makes up a portion of our damage.
Human, so no babble for me
What weapon set did you use for your Cleric build ? Last week I was using GS + A/WH. Damage is a tad weak. One fight had a mesmer stand there..not fight..and laugh as I hit him with axes.
I need something ranged no matter what build I use. I haven’t tried SB since patch since axe is same range. I really want to keep GS for getting around. I really miss it when I don’t have it. I wonder if LB would work with Cleric/regen ?
I don’t know the answer
Many good answers. The most basic answer ? It’s fun…..and why else would you play a game if you weren’t enjoying it?
Bunker/regen ranger build is one of the best or even the best which ranger has. While being able to outheal lot of incoming dmg, you still keep the power thanks to your pet and 30BM. I don’t want to decrease the level of your skill, the vid is truly great and you showing the knowledge of the class and its skills, you mastered this build no doubts about that. However it’s one of the easiest ranger builds to play, would you agree with me?
I generaly don’t like bunker builds, I think they are kind of out of hands, on all classes. On the other side power builds are in the backgrounds of bunker/condition builds (unless you have unlimited posibilities to hide and vanish from fight anytime you want when your hp is dangerously down, then here it’s working), specially by rangers.
Full power (berserker) build requires much better timing and precize skill usage. One mistake and you can be down in a sec. Would love to see a vid of someone who mastered such build.
Going out into WvW without armor would be challenging also. Yes, zerker requires better timing and skill. Think about it though. If the average person was given a choice between doing a ton of damage and blowing things up…or, being hard to kill yet taking forevever to kill someone. What do you think they would choose ? I would bet strongly people would prefer to do damage.
If that is true, why don’t more Rangers go zerker ? …because they aren’t rewarded for it enough. You make yourself that soft you had better be superman when dealing damage. You aren’t. So people have evolved towards bunker..BM…regen type builds. Not because they want to, but because they had to.
So the Orr Karma vendor….who I haven’t unlocked yet, sell all Soldiers, for Karma, except legs. Is that correct ?
I would like the option to use some soldier pieces now and then. I don’t have access to the vendor though and they aren’t sold on the TP
You can buy soldier pieces with your badges and a bit of coin, from WvW vendors.
Really ? I thought you had to do some PvE event.
Nice
How much karma do you currently have? You should have a decent amount of karma even if you don’t do your dailies and do not PvE.
1.2 million karma
..and I found those vendors.. thank you
I would like the option to use some soldier pieces now and then. I don’t have access to the vendor though and they aren’t sold on the TP

I was going to respond with a rant bit instead will keep it short and clean.
Supply wins the day …or loses the day if you don’t have it. Camps produce supply and Yaks carry the supply. When I take camps and kill Yaks I deny the enemy supply. They can’t upgrade or siege the towers your blob eventually captures.
Or on the other hand I protect camps/Yaks so towers/keeps can be upgraded and sieged up.
While roaming between camps/yaks I run into the enemy trying to get back to their zerg = I get a fight….or, I run into the enemy trying to do the same as I am doing = fight.
No glory, no karma train that you get while doing the “important” stuff by taking towers as you suggest, but a lot more fun than being a part of a mindless zerg spamming 1
I would like the option to use some soldier pieces now and then. I don’t have access to the vendor though and they aren’t sold on the TP
Its not newer players who should use regen, its any ranger who actually wants to 1vx and not play chicken from 1500 just run as soon as a regen ranger comes his way lol
I call your build the ultimate troll glass cannon because it has the damage for sure but the survivability of a galss cannon at is good at trolling newer players solo, turn around and use swoop to run away any one?…Any good and properly speced/geared solo roamer will wipe the floor against non regen rangers.
lol what’s with the hostility ? Troll build ? Many on the forums have called regen Rangers a troll build. So last week I was trolling when I used my power regen build? .. and this week I am trolling using a higher damage build ? (not completely glass). Tough crowd.
These are funny. Keep up the good work !
Question: Frenzy takes your killshot to less than a second it looks like ?
Are you trying to steer new players in the wrong direction? When I first started, I used a similar build and although decent in dungeons it was awful in wvw.
You’re right, new players probably shouldn’t use this. Maybe I should have put a caveat that new players would likely find it easier using a regen build in WvW.
I am only an average player though and I can pull this off. I’m sure some of the better players here would rock with it.
The irony is, because it is a little harder to run with this in WvW is exactly why it can work. People don’t expect it and totally underestimate the damage (and this build is not even close to being top damage…other Rangers do more). A couple of times today I came upon 3 enemy just before they took a sentry point. They saw me standing at about 2000 units away, decided I wasn’t a threat so started on the sentry. 1 Swoop to get into range, switch to LB and I had a guy dead before they knew what happened. Pop stabilty, down him and swoop/block away.
So there are some kills you would never get with a regen build and there kills that a regen can pull off that these glassier build couldn’t.
I just posted the build to get suggestions for tweaks. My original plan went away because Scholars were 3+gold each…and can’t afford that
Edit:….and one of the best things about these damage builds with LB is Thieves. When a Thief is trolling around going in and out of stealth…..You time it to get in two regular shots then pop rapid fire before he restealths …wait about 15 seconds for his corpse to appear. For me that alone makes these builds fun …since I absolutely hate Thieves. Especially troll perma stealth Thieves.
(edited by Forzani.2584)
Random matchups working as intended.
Ebay and Borlis are a good balanced matchup, drama aside. As much as we (apparently) hate each other (not that I personally have been around yet to even know what on earth caused the two of you to hate each other so much…) – we have very close scores – You can’t deny that our matchup is very close.
I’m having fun! Stop being so srs.
It’s been a good match so far. Hopefully you’ll all learn from the tactics SoS has been using and better coordinate yourselves for next week. With a little practice. You’ll sure do better! TC showed us that and now look where we are!
You actually went there ? Brutal.
Pretty much just a full knights build.
You might as well move the 5 points from WS to Skirmishing for moment of clarity. You’ll get way more mileage out of hilt bash/maul than 10%^90
I have seen a couple of videos with people using moment of clarity and it looks terrific. The problem is I am not real good at interrupting people to take advantage of MoC
So you tip toe around the map and when you do find a lone player you fire a few arrows from 1500 only to realise they are built to roam, so you switch to GS and Swoop da heck out of dodge? Okkkk got it..have fun.
Thanks, I will have fun. Maybe you could show me the key that tiptoes. I am not familiar with that.
Even with the glassier build from a couple of weeks back I got far more kills than I do now with my regen build. The two biggest reasons why is I killed faster=less chance for target to get help…and since I killed faster the less chance for enemy just to run away when he realizes that I am tough to kill with regen build…and that if he runs away, I don’t do enough damage to prevent it.
Many times this past week I was ready to jump on a group of 2-4 before realizing I couldn’t kill the guy in back fast enough with my regen build. With the damage build many times you could pull it off by killing the one guy…pull back and reevaluate to stay, or go after another one. Both damage and regen builds have their strengths and weaknesses and I play both + condi build for variety.
Not sure who kittened in your cereal but I didn’t ask for a critique of play style. I asked for suggestions to tweak the build for this play style. Go troll somewhere else.
You won’t get far solo roaming as ranger without regen, sorry. Other wise I think its a really cool DPS build!
Weird, cause I could have sworn I did just that a couple of weeks ago with that front loaded damage zerker build that was making the rounds. That build was a lot squishier than this build.
The biggest weakness for me is knowing when to play or fold. I can usually tell after 3 arrows whether I am going to win. Too many times I had the long standing bunker mentality to stick it out to the end…win or lose. I am slowly getting better disengaging when I know it’s not going to end well.
A question to Ehmry Bay people, where is Rekz haven’t seen them in this matchup yet was keen to see a Agg vs Rekz GvG.
If what I’m hearing is true, they transferred to Dragonbrand.
That’s the word, yep. Can’t confirm or deny personally, but I do note that the guild [Nite], which one of their members directly sponsored, is no longer with us.
Yeah, Rekz transferred to Dragonbrand. BP should have realized this last week as soon as they ceased being dumpstered. I bet they thought they magically improved or something.
BP gets dumpstered.
Rekz leaves
BP wins
EB gets dumpstered
That’s all decided by Rekz ?
I tried the zerker front load damage build for a couple of weeks. Good for a laugh but a little restrictive in it’s play style. I have been cruising with a power regen build recently. It is very solid but lacks a bit of damage imo.
So I decided to try and go back to a more damage build but with a little more survivability.
Note : * This is for WvW solo roaming only. Yaks/camps and killing other solos/duos/zerg stragglers*
- GS is a must for me. Mobility +defense. Burst is pretty nice also
- 10% damage for each… steady focus….hunters tactics…peak strength…scholars runes
- 5% damage for sigil of force
- toughness 1783 isn’t terrible
- Lightning reflexes + Swoop will get me out of a jam
- Jungle Stalker for 5 stacks of might
- Sig of renewal is only condition defense so a bit weak there.
Going with the % addition theme. I just worked on another build. I was full zerker for a couple of weeks waiting on the huge initial hit. Good for laughs but very little survivability.
This build doesn’t have the initial hit but might sustain should be as good…plus live a little longer and escape when need to.
10% each for steady focus….hunters..peak strength….Scholars and 5% for sigil of force and Eagle Eye
I will have to rethink the damage build. Went for the laughs a month ago using the zerker big initial damage build. Crit% was 60% base and crit damage was 89%. I am going to play with the idea of taking out some zerker and adding some Valkrie to get some more survivabilty
Trying to theorycraft my own but I’m missing stuff, Id like to remain bunkerish with some move speed, was thinking hunt/stone/sun spirit.
Would like to remain condi, any thoughts or suggestions?
ditto. I can’t solve this either. Not enough spots on the bar
It’s an awful auto attack. It’s on a condition weapon. It does a pitiful 250 damage.
Give ricochet 1-2 bleeds on a 3-4 sec duration.
Once splitblade is used axe has no sustained damage whatsoever. It makes the weapon good for bursting conditions but complete garbage in the sustained department.
If you enter protracted team fights you just feel useless as you’ve used a splitblade that shortly gets cleansed by the random water field, your torch is single target burning and bonfire is a field.
So over half the time you are basically using a useless autoattack that is tickling people for 150-250 damage.
There’s also some serious design flaw with the fact that none of the melee/survival weapons are actually condition weapons. In order for the ranger to have survival, since none of his ranged weapons have them, he needs to pick up a greatsword or sword, yet all these are power based weapons with no sustained condition damage whatsoever.
The ranger lacks sustained aoe condition application relative to the necromancer and the engineer in their respective condition builds. Hell, a condition warrior actually does better aoe conditions with double sword+combustive shot. So do eles for that matter.
You make a great point about GS…..and it was something I was thinking about the past few days. I play mostly a solo roamer in WvW. I have come to the conclusion that I NEED GS to do what I want to do. Unfortunately that means a power build. A regen power build lacks a little bit. I just came from a couple of weeks of a zerker build and sentries/yaks died very quickly. It takes far to long now as regen/power. I know for sure a condition build would kill faster but that is pointless with GS.
So like you say, it’s kind of ironic that a defensive weapon works better with a power build.
These are some great ideas. Anet really promotes their never ending story for pve …and they should, since it keeps things fresh and interesting…and no one else does it.
Something like that for WvW would be very cool.
Stealth.
- 5 second activation
- Doesn’t drop unless…
- Lose stealth when you move
- Lose stealth when you attack
- 30 seconds until you can stealth again after it drops
- Can’t stealth within 2000 units of supply camps or towers/keeps
This is for WvW. Adds another opportunity for Ranger to contribute by scouting.
The outcome of a 1v1 battle if one of the participants is a thief:
1. Thief wins.
2. Thief escapes.
There is no third option. The mythical “thief dies” outcome is only taken by bad thieves.
Inb4 tons of thieves with comments like “i am pro 1v1 roamer n i die a lot, l2p”. These comments would be sad if they weren’t so hilarious.
You forgot a 3rd outcome.
3. Thief trolls.
Harass a group of people and perma stealth over and over with no intentions of ever trying to kill someone …just troll.
Honest suggestion: Play a different game until ANet adds Guild v. Guild. No need to be cynical about the whole thing. GvG will come with or shortly after guild halls, and it’ll be tied to influence/merit progression, gems (tickets), or both. I’d bet on it. Best to be patient and at peace with reality.
I play this game like its left 4 dead 2 survival mode now. Grab a couple buddies and go fight the zombie horde, see how long you can last.
WvW as intended. See also: Just Cause 2 Multiplayer.
WvW as intended is try to avoid PvP at all costs. Fighting an enemy is the worst thing you can do with your time when you’re trying to get the most points.
Haha!
They have our garrison! Let’s let them keep it. It is a silly place. We will attack theirs instead, and I promise that they will not fight us for it. I promise.
You’ve confused PvP with defending/attacking. Sitting in a keep on a cannon is not PvP.
You’ve confused the strategies of defending and attacking inside the WvW PvP zone with the tactic of utilizing specific available weapons during same.
Buddy, I don’t think you get what the man is saying. Sitting on AC’s, cannons, catas, trebs ect…. Is what 8 year olds could do. “here honey, try this… Just click on the red guy, and press these 3 buttons”. Isn’t hard, isn’t challenging, but it supposedly makes you feel “epic”???? Dude were talking maximum character output…. Using a characters abilities to the max in a fight against other people. Fighting over objectives is just push pull push pull whoever has more people wins the fight. Open field by good players on either side can go either way when skill is par. It’s all about clutch moments. Utilizing your “available weapons at the time” is what 8 year olds could do. We open fielders all know we could jump up on seige and do what you do… Easily. We push ourselves past the 8 year old limit and strive for more challenge. Problem is 99% of the games population isn’t any good at what we do.
..or maybe isn’t interested ? People have bought into the game for what it has offered. You are trying to reinvent the wheel. This isn’t Daoc…and even daoc, the hardcore 8 man groups had to fight bigger groups. Sure you could try and arrange an 8v8 fight in a remote area, because it didn’t happen very often naturally because you would always have adds.
I call bullkitten that your crew actually wants a challenge. If you did, you would create a pvp map with as much open space as possible…and ignore capture points. Then send out the challenge. There would be no adds onto the fight…each group would know what they are there for so they would have complimentary classes to support what they want to do…complimentary builds for each other and would have some type of plan or strategy. Both groups would be on a voice com. No one would have any advantage when it comes to equipment. Who cares about food. Since both groups could have it in WvW what does it matter if both can’t have it in pvp. Both cases it’s equal. It’s just an excuse.
It would be as pure and clean of 5v5 that you could ever want. The winners would win because of skill alone. Isn’t that the goal ? Isn’t that challenging enough ?…or does your group base their success on beating a 9 man group headed to a keep to defend. Two of the 9 are uplevels….most of them have magic find on their gear and none are actually grouped or communicating. You pummel them so that proves your 5 man rocks ? That was challenging ?
Some of you are expecting a far bigger impact than what will actually happen. Think more along the lines of the new WvW skills that were added a couple of months ago ..IE fluff
So we are hanging our hat on a lightning blast every 20 seconds ? Is it worth it using a slot for that ?
Great display of skills as usual. I switched to a power/regen build last week and included Warhorn. Maybe I did something right ! No range damage would be a tough gig. Same weapon setup as you but I have axe instead of sword.
The build ? I need to take a 3rd look at it because I wasn’t feeling it after looking the first couple of times.
To whoever mentioned a future nerf after watching this video. Understand the success you see is 90% player skill. The average player can’t pull this off. Seriously, you should try it for yourself. I think you would be disappointed in your results.
As for the OP, I would like to see thieves being more balanced for group fights and have less emphasis on stealth+burst, but judging from the responses of many thief players I highly doubt they actually want that.
That is because the class attracts the mentalities of trolls and pocketsand fighters. They have no sense of what is actually balanced because they only care about being able to one shot people from the shadows while also being able to easily slip away from 50+ people using 2 skills.
They will come to defend the unbalanced nature of stealth until the game dies. I highly doubt Anet ever does anything to address the issue of stealth (4 second of reveal is useless if it is only when they attack and not whenever stealth ends. Way to continuously let Thieves control 1v1 battle flow).
Edit: Forgot in the grand wisdom of Anet they reverted the 4 second reveal change back to 3 second for WvW (yet not for sPvP where you can’t stack stats).
Pretty much nailed it. Anet really confuses me on this issue. Daoc had the same issues with stealth in the beginning but they fixed it. Anet has done a great job with the game, but seems to have a bit of a blind spot for their version of stealth.
Gotta congratulate the Anet team on the stellar design of the class. They will be remembered in the MMO community for years to come as the guys who came up with the most broken stealth class in history.
Oh by the way..it was not what they intended initially. Takes a special dev to kitten up that much.
Sad but true. Anet has introduced some original and unique ideas for these types of games. Their stealth concept is a dismal failure. The poster is correct. When new games get released the common refrain will be …I hope stealth isn’t as kittened up as it was on gw2.
Keep it up combatants. What you feel right now, if being owned (to sos and fa), is how easily SOR smashed us when we were against them, with occasional victories on our part (and a constant score of below 200 at all times – meaning we had it worse than you guys are doing now).
And because TC herself wants to improve, recruiting players is simply a matter of consequence. And I think all servers seek this too.
You say TC wants to get better ? Recruiting more numbers isn’t the answer. It definitely helps, but your style of play will dictate that you will need a much larger population to beat any specific server….and I am not talking about skill. You’re fighting skills are fine. The passive, avoid fights at all costs when you don’t out number your opponent, play style will prevent you from getting to where you want to go.
The Art of War is a great read, but even Sun Tzu sometimes said kitten it, get ready to rumble.
You have already made multiple threads about the same subject. Give it up this game isn’t DAOC there will never be roaming gank groups the zones are too small.
Pretty much this. You are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. As someone mentioned earlier, to get a pure 5v5 fight your best bet would be PvP. The good news, since you say you want good competitive fights, is that PvP will give you much tougher fights than casuals wearing PvE gear in WvW.
I think the jump from T2 to T1 will be a shock for any guild. You simply just don’t get enough open field fights in T2 at the moment. The mantra on all sides seems to be ‘if outnumbered or even, run back to tower’.
I can understand this, but its hard to get any better just rolling with superior numbers. I know its easy to say this being on TC but last night in FABL when we had lost a lot of people and were fighting 30v60, I learnt a lot more about staying tight on commander and being fast with stun-breaks or water fields than I ever did when it is the other way around.
I think guild pride has a lot to do with it too. If people were more willing to wipe in order to learn from it this tier would get a lot better a lot quicker.
I think this is something the EU servers got right a long time ago. They seem to care less overall for the PPT and just play for the fights in order to get better.
That’s a great post, and very accurate. It is very noticeable after facing TC the past 4-5 weeks. The style of play is not a one off. It’s fairly consistent. TCs numbers seem to have grown from 5 weeks ago. I am curious how they will do vs a tier 1 server next time.
In case I missed it earlier, where, and what style of play will you be using this build ? WvW solo roamer ? ..WvW zerg surfer ? Small man ?
First thing I was going to say before I see you have adjusted. Using SB leaves a lot of damage off the table that you could really use…..and I see you added Axe to drop SB which I think is a good idea.
i said i had never been beaten with it. Im sure there are plenty of players that can whip my backside. but i havent come across them. and by no means did i say L2P i said the class with this build has a very high skill ceiling, which it does.
in regards to the v2 and v3s as long as the 2 players arent communicating via chat or voip they dont pose too large a risk. …the V3’s the players have to be tards…lol
but in all seriousness, the build is fine, its great. it can always be tweaked here and there. to cater to playstyles. but with the tons of hours of testing ive done. the 331 and 331R are both pretty amazing. now the DD version is another story…and needs alot of love lol.
I’ve already said it many times but I’ll do it again anyway this build has many defensive strengths but barely any offensive ones since it’s easier to reach a high condition damage whithout nibbling on healing or toughness stats it is still strong in that department however physical damage absolutely requires crits to pose offensive threat and that is harder to get without eating up either healing or toughness.
I think this is about as good as you can make it while keeping full clerics, it’ll equate to perma fury from warhorn and elite at about 45% critchance with this setup, the crits won’t be huge though because of the lack of +crit damage but it was always a defensive build first.
Anyway try this if you haven’t already
An option would be to mix in a few pieces of knights armor to gain some extra crits the added toughness should be enough that the loss of healing power isn’t of any huge concern, yes that’s probably a good idea something like cleric armor and trinkets and knight weapons would be enough to push it over 50% critchance while still having about 1000 healing power I think.
Crazy timing. The past hour I have been trying to create a power/healing build with GS.( It is such a great weapon for roaming in WvW). Instead of S/WH I was looking at A/WH. I dunno if I could pull it off without some type of range. Even taking your build and changing food to butternut squash soup might be enough to get crits involved once in a while. This was my version. Very similar to yours (used in solo/duo roaming WvW)
Zoose was the 1st to bring up Ranger pet damage being too strong in sPvP to the devs in a State of The Game. Doesn;t surprise me he is complaining about spirits instead of learning to play.
Well, on the plus side, they can’t make spirits any more kitten than they are so we might as well have them as a balance dev lightning rod for the class.
Me thinks you underestimate ANET . Yes, they absolutely have the ability to kitten up spirits.
Please god make this question go away…
lol no kidding.
While I admit running a roaming ranger on one of the top 6 servers is a challenge because of their coverage it can still be rewarding. And yes running in the zerg ball and hitting 1 gets you more Wxp than roaming but you talk about helping your server.
First get off the main roads and explore. There are lots of places to hide as the zergs pass, there are lots of places to overlook camps, towers, routes to scout or to insure your safety when going after a camp.
Check out some of the other off builds. Lots of potential. Find some ranger buddies. A ranger group can pump out some nice DPS and flip camps quick. Those help your server in points, denial of supply. Slap yaks. Clear guards and siege ahead of your zerg. Lots of things to do.
ANET has definetly made it challenging for us but it is what it is.
Work with what we have. Sure that kitten thief may pop you from time to time but remind yourself that YOU roam completely visible with no “now you see me now you don’t” escape. Who’s playing with his fly open now??
When you waltz up behind that roaming warrior or necro who thinks he’s gonna get a camp easy and failed to look around and you pop him for some serious hurt he will be BS kittening about how we are OP. At least we’ll be able to sit back and enjoy a good laugh
Well said. My thoughts exactly.
…and while I am still in this LB/GS zerker phase I want to do more as you suggested. Duo Zerker Rangers as it says in my sig. I really really want to one shot insta kill someone with another Ranger
Then the omg nerf Rangers cry will be heard loud and clear !
5 of the last 6 weeks all I have seen is the outnumbered buff on my screen. So I have two choices. I can either log, or do what I can to try and have some fun….and you’re right, most of the time they are auto attacking doors PvE style….and man, that sounds like a lot of fun+ they are getting points for their realm !
Yes it is a solid build. I’m sure a few people will take it and tweak it to more fit their playstyle and/or outright improve it. It is a good build that has it strengths…and weaknesses.
A bit of false bravado though to claim it can’t get beat 1v1…..and when someone does lose a 1v1 they are told the build is fine, but you need to improve.
no really, it seems you all think T1 WvW is where it matters…. in T1 or T2, all that matters is MANPOWER. The bigger blob wins. get down to into T4 hell, try T5-6-7-8 and you’ll see that roaming is what pays off. Not because roaming is all you can do, you got lots of zerging there. but its not impossible to make it on your own.
Actually, tier doesn’t matter as a rank 20 server you might end up against a rank 1 server (hello borked rating system!), thus this problem exists in every single tier and rank. Arenanet supports and keeps on adding features for zergballing with wubwub patches so there isn’t really any point of thinking outside of the box when the 80 man blob rolls over your poor little ranger.
I can’t recall the last time an 80 man blob has rolled my ranger. Pretty easy to avoid. Recently I have been shadowing the zerg on my solo Ranger waiting for opportunities to cull the herd by picking off stragglers.
Yeah, I hear that has quite the impact on the zerg lol
Worst case scenario 3 people from that zerg immediately get the guy back up.
Some people actually run on guilds that run 15-30 people GvG groups and take on zergs. And it’s undeniable that compared to the other classes the ranger just doesn’t stack up.
You need the AoE, and the only thing you’ve got is barrage, on a 25 sec cd. The rest of the time you’re doing single target damage or useless piercing if you take the trait.
Me thinks you like complaining for the sake of complaining. Your mind is pretty much closed to what many are telling you.
A GvG fight is completely different than a guild group roaming to take on larger numbers. Maybe figure out what you are arguing for first. A ranger is weak in GvG ? …Guild vs zerg ? …or tagging for bags and WXP ?
A hard core 15 man gank group ? Likely a Ranger isn’t the best option…but, there are many 15 man groups that roam and try and take out larger numbers that do have Rangers….and do very well. A well played Ranger > some fotm desired class played by a scrub.
Killing the tail of a zerg not helpful ? Some would suggest a true GvG fight of equal numbers doesn’t have a lot of impact on the overall fight either.
Fun ? Probably. …and isn’t that kind of the point…to have fun ? Although I guess complaining 24/7 is fun for some people.
