EB is a very strong server in regards to GvG and solo roaming. I found it ironic..and laughable when TC was telling SoS and CD that they hoped they learned something fighting a T2 server. TC wouldn’t be able to compete vs EB in small man..solo or GvG . Not even close. ZvZ ? TC wins that battle.
There are guilds who’re focusing on GvG and smaller teams in TC aswell. This statement is ignorant since we’ve never faced each other. When/if we do we can determine that ofc. And yes, that “learn from us” statement was just plain silly and I’m pretty sure everyone else thought that aswell.
If I was a player on the NE Patriots and we had played both the NY Jets and Denver Broncos….and was asked who I thought would win if the Jets and Broncos played. My answer wouldn’t be ignorant, since it’s an opinion without lack of knowledge.
So after facing EB and TC, my informed opinion is EB is better at GvG and small man.(especially when Rekz is part of the equation). The good news is eventually you will face each other and will prove it one way or the other. (although the final overall score won’t be close)
When you do upgrades for a tower or keep you should have the option which to upgrade first …walls or door. .

Yeah, they’d be so busy ‘not competing’ that they’d be sitting there on +500 PPT 24/7…
..and 500 PPT is an indicator of skill ? As I said in my post, if you actually read it, was EB was far better in small man/solo and GvG. TC has better zergs (coverage). As most know, coverage = win. Really not that complicated.

Wow GREAT success!!!
I found what I was looking for and the damage out put is 100 times greater that I expected!
I want to share my findings after playing around.
The bm bunker build is a really powerful without a doubt, the information shared there was a boon. However I myself like to know I’m doing damage myself in the event my pet goes down.So I’d like to call this build the BT build (Beast trapper)
We’ll of course for weapons run
Sword and Dagger to apply condition’s and be a slippery kitten
Axe and Torch for rangedFor healing I’m running troll salve I swear it makes pets unkillable even my eagle is tanking mobs and dealing out tons of hurt

fix it. No reason that a class should have so much mitigation (i.e. stealth) in it and damage burst. No way a class should be able to go into a 20 man zerg without fear of dying. Get in trouble? Go into stealth and run.
You need to stop this type of behavior in the forums. I am a PW Thief who does NOT rely on Stealth to get away. I am tired of players accusing Thief’s being OP “OMG Stealth” when I can run around and take out players without even using stealth.
Read my signature from one of the developers. Stealth is not the problem, Daggers are the problem because they do way too much damage. Learn the enemy first.
No, stealth is the problem. The reason daggers do so much damage is because you can commit to an offensive build because you have stealth. Pretty sure a GC Warrior can do more damage than a Thief with daggers. The problem for the Warrior is he is very vulnerable….and that’s the trade off. He kills fast, but dies fast. A simple ying and yang concept.
Thief doesn’t pay the price because of a GC build. He can take a bite out of someone, and if he sees his damage isn’t going to get the job done quick enough he just stealths and moves on. = no downside for GC build
…and that is great you don’t use stealth ( WvW or pvp ?) You would be the first Thief I have encountered that doesn’t use stealth.
Anet`s silence on this makes think they are real and intentionally “leaked” … purely my opinion though.
I agree. It has been a tried and true tactic for many many years.
Regarding the pet damage, it’s also very important to note where people were complaining from , almost all the complaints came from
—> sPvP/tPvP
PvP is a game style that promotes having to eat pet damage as almost 100% of the rangers were back point bunker holders. This playstyle in it’s very right FORCES you to eat pet damage. This necessarily doesn’t make the pet better it just means you’re forced to a playstyle that promotes having to care about the pet which people are complaining about… Nerfing the pet damage won’t work and compensating 14% damage on CC abilities won’t work towards opening new builds for the ranger. There’s not one thing in those notes that opens up a build for anybody in PvP that will provide a viable alternative because if you want to deal damage, you go mesmer or engi. Now, I’m not saying those BM builds still won’t work, we’ll have to see but I think the pet nerf was DEFINITELY warranted in PvP but the issue is there was nothing provided to assist in opening up new builds IN PvP…
Now onto WvW/PvE…
Since these are most likely across the board nerfs, now 2 other complete areas of the game for rangers are seeing massive nerfs based on the complaints from one area that’s completely different from those other 2 areas both in equipment AND style of play.
I think this is a huge point to make, while I’m not heavily affected by these pet nerf damage changes, I can see why people who WvW and people who PvE are upset about this.
WvW is a playstyle that prides mobility and roaming, 2 of which the pet AI simply does NOT bode well against at all. It’s effectiveness is cut in half simply based on this in WvW as people don’t need to sit on a point and contest AND fight you at the same time , they can move around quite freely and people can easily snare a pet and gap close you, which is what is done regularly in duels I play in and since EB transfers to your pet, most soft CC’s also make your pet virtually ineffective against good mobile classes.
PvE pets were just fodder to begin with and now with these nerfs, lol , I don’t think they’re even worth taking out and using effectively.
Just my 2 cents
I’m not really affected by this stuff personally, but I can see why people can be, especially WvW’ers and PvE’ers for sure.
Great post. You are 100% about the differences between pvp and wvw. That’s why most believe that the game needs to be balanced differently between game modes (pvp/wvw/pve/dungeon)
My prediction ? The top players will still dominate. As Clint says, adapt, improvise, overcome.
The top players will still dominate… as another class.
No, as Rangers. Like so many already do now.
It’s funny how that works. When faced with changes, the legitimate gamer looks at it as a challenge. To break down the changes and search for the best way to succeed. The forum warriors who complain 24/7 ? Change = another opportunity to complain.
We lost about 25% sustained damage over this patch.. We took a MAJOR hit…
Nobody is going to go for Berserker’s Power anymore, they did this to nerf us in PVE but almost no compensation..
The CC removal we have removes stuff when we don’t need it. It also does not prevent it from being reapplied.
We will not only have the same problems as before, but now that we don’t have the damage anymore, we have absolutely no place in pvp.
Are you all drunk? How are these changes bad?
We pretty much got buffed whilst a few other classes took some hits. We came out good from this you fools.
This is why I love these forums. How is it possible to have such complete 180 degrees opposite opinion on something.
Are you talking about the D/P build with the 5,2,2,2,5,2,2,2,2 spam that allows them to keep retealthing, stabbing you for massive damage while all the while making it impossible to hit them during the fraction of the second you can see them? Yeah before i actually tried it myself, i thought they were actually good and thats why i was having a hard time with them. Nope, its stupidly easy to do and yeah it does need a nerf. Heres a perfect example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ecl8d0TQGQ Yeah takes real skill to push 2 buttons over and over again. and its not like it requires strict timing or anything. make a thief and test it yourself. effective against 95% of the people you’ll ever run into. as long as you dont fight more than 5 people at once you’ll win with little effort.
Makes me want to vomit a bit after watching that video. Like you, apparently I have been giving Thieves too much credit for their “skill”
My prediction ? The top players will still dominate. As Clint says, adapt, improvise, overcome.
Being able to increase range for both LB and SB with a trait wouldn’t be unreasonable imo…as well as the cool downs.
Every server seems to have it’s own unique characteristics. Some of them are so blatant that you would be able to figure out who you were fighting after a few days even with the server tags off.
If you are a boxing fan you would remember Oscar De La Hoya. Pure tactical boxer. Didn’t like to get hit. Would outbox his opponent without taking any risks.
To me that is TC. Not 100% of the time but in general.
Very methodical and patient. When taking a tower/keep they go balls to the wall with overwhelming firepower. If any kind of resistance they pull back and reevaluate. Then determine what other siege is needed to get the job done…as cleanly as possible …by clean I mean as few deaths as possible. In a perfect world zero deaths. Leroy Jenkins is not in their vocabulary.
Same thing applies in the open field. Great flanking tactics. Great baiting tactics. They really only fight under their terms if possible. If in doubt they retreat and regroup. Applies to large groups down to solo.
Their discipline within the blob is quite amazing. if you snooze, you lose. What I mean is if you lag back or don’t pay attention, you are on your own. If the enemy hits you they aint turning around to help you or rez you. Very objective focused.
As frustrating as it is to fight against that you can’t help but be impressed by their consistency. Hopefully, but not likely, they won’t take this the wrong way
I don’t think that’s all strictly true; we have our good days and our bad days just like everyone else. But thanks for the compliment, I guess. You don’t need to be scared of TC. We all have room for improvement.
Scared of TC ? umm, that couldn’t be further from the truth of the point I was trying to make. There are some players on other servers I am very wary of, but that goes towards my original statement of recognizing play styles from different servers.
Well I would agree stealth would be op if thieves had access to regeneration, protection, stability, retaliation, confusion…
Oh wait, they don’t.
If stealth was taken away from thieves, what you would have is a class without any defensive capabilities.
And if you took stealth away and gave them most of the boons that i mentioned, and gave them a pet, then you would have a ranger…
Toning stealth down doesn’t mean completely removing it.
Look at this way – how many zerker Guardians/Eles/Engis/Rangers/Necros do you see? If these defensive buffs helped as much as stealth, they would all be running berserker gear too.
Look on the Guardian forums at the zerker build by Stunningstyles. Even he admits that it is bad for taking on multiple opponents. Yet Yishis routinely does so in zerker gear.
In other words, the fact that most Thieves are able to run zerker gear, shows that stealth is by far the best defensive mechanic (equal only to Mesmer clones and invulnerability, and coincidentally they are the only other class that routinely runs full zerker). Edit: Stealth and high mobility.
And if people argue that “well zerker Thieves explode in team fights”, guess what? Zerker everything explodes in zergs. Do you really think a zerker staff Ele stands in the middle of the hammer pain-train and absorbs everything with his ‘OP heals?’. No, they stand far away and hope not to get hit.
Great post and 100% true. Every build I theory craft, or actually use, is based on trying to deal with Thieves. I would really like to use a damage build once in a while but know it would be a death sentence when a thief hit me.
Thieves have the best of both worlds. Can go GC and still be safe because of stealth.
If that happens… thief profession is 100% dead.
Promise ?
I’m sure there would be no tears spilled by any people that don’t play Thieves.
Here’s a suggestion: don’t take the burning trait. Now take a deep breath and carry on.
.
No doubt. Maybe Lily is just doing some serious roleplaying now ?
/shrug
IF anyone from the [lost] Guild would like to have a open field GVG match against ALS just send me a message in game we can set this up.
You guys realize you can’t bring 60 people to a GvG, right? :P
Most BP can’t count to 60.. or past 10 for that matter. Everything past 10 is 60 or omergerd zerg….“how many?” 60!
Lies, it is 20 when you take off shoes and socks. 21 if you are a guy.

It seems that the warrior its going to remain perma kited and now even worse with the torment condition we are going to die trying to catch someone.
lol no kidding. Stand still and take the beating like a man ?
They are so concerned about balance and take baby steps when raising dps levels but seem to have no worries with large nerf percentages.
Actually that is a very good point. I have praised anet in the past for their methodical style.
Bad rangers need to play better
BM Rangers need to play alot betterLove these patch notes
What do you love about them ? What is your playstyle ? PvE…PvP ..WvW (solo..small man…ZvZ ?) …….What type of build weapon sets ?
Armor Fish: Bite: Reduced damage by 50%.
Raven: Blinding Slash: Reduced damage by 34%.
Drake: Lightning Breath: Reduced damage by 17%.
Feline: Maul: Reduced damage by 50%.I can understand the nerfs to these but aside from lightning breath I think it’s too much 25% seems more reasonable to me even if I naturally wouldn’t welcome that either, any other nerfs to pets are totally uneccessary in my opinion I mean pig? wtf? who thinks pigs do too much damage? it kitten es me off >.<
Well, we could be being played by the oldest haggling technique know to man. We will see if it happens but maybe Anet wanted a 25% reduction all along. So put it at 50%….wait for the complaints…then reconsider and drop it to 25%.
…because I know with certainty if the original was 25% people would say that was too high and maybe 15% was more reasonable
That is one of the things that intrigues me about Anet and GW2. So many things are only discovered after digging deeper and doing testing.
It looks like they have done what many have suggested. Reduce pet damage and increase Ranger damage. At first glance though it appears the Pet damage reduction is greater than the increase in Ranger damage.
Time will tell
You don’t make longbow more viable by making shortbow crappier.
Luckily they’re doing all of this:
Long Range Shot: Reduced the aftercast on this skill from .5 seconds to .25 seconds. Increased arrow speed by 15%
Rapid Fire: Reduced initial cast time by .4 seconds. Increased arrow speed by 15%
Point Blank Shot: Increased arrow speed by 15%
Barrage: Increased cripple duration by 50%.Increasing arrow speed does not meaningfully affect the DPS of the weapon. It just increases the reliability of it hitting.
The longbow is not used because it does garbage DPS, and it has no defense.
You must have missed the aftercast reduction. This will be a huge buff to the Longbow.
Most of these changes are awesome, including the changes to the SB. Anyone who disagrees is objectively wrong.
I have no idea what aftercast is and how it effects things
Just got my Ele to level 75 and the final push to 80 is on. I want this guy to be a staff support character in WvW since my Ranger is my solo roamer.
Elementalist is quite an interesting class that seems to have quite a few subtle nuances that I am slowly learning. That being said, here is my first real attempt at a build. I am completely open to criticism and/or advice.
Note: This 100% for WvW
Thanks for any input
Edit: Question about Inscription. If I used Glyph of Harmony while in Earth, would that be 4.5 sec of protection + 4.5 Sec of protection because of Inscription ?
(edited by Forzani.2584)
I’m back with the numbers as promised. Exactly how many points each server would be expected to hold depends on the third server. That said, we can look at the SoR vs ET head to head in isolation and calculate an expected ratio of points.
Feeding the server’s ranking, deviation and volatility into glicko 2 gives an expected match score of 0.998703101 (this number is always between 0 and 1) for SoR. Feeding this number into the sine transformation Anet uses and rearranging gives an expected ratio of 42.6.
So for the ratings to stay the same, SoR needs 42.6 points for every 1 ET gets. Depending on which server they are up against that translates to ET holding an average of 8-16 points.
So based on todays score, where each match has a distribution of 480,000 points. That would mean in a head to head matchup, that ET would only need 11,162 points compared to SoRs 468,837 points, and the match would be considered even. Noone gains ranks and no one loses ranks ?
My math (likely flawed) 480,000/43 = 11,162 per point
11,162 × 42 =468,837
You are probably correct except for one important fact…
There is a built-in limiter on how much the RNG can modify a Server’s Rating before determining the new matchup and it is currently impossible for SoR and ET to be matched up.
The amount of RNG is still likely too large but I think the “maximum” comes out around 200 Rating which isn’t close to allowing the matchup you are talking about.
I understand the matchup could never happen. The point was to test the (capabilities and flaws) of glicko
What if Sanctum of Ral was matched up with Eredon Terrace in next weeks matchup. Would it be possible for SoR to increase their rating and ET to lose rating ? Even if ET never owned a tower/keep or supply camp the entire week ?
Is it something a math whiz that knows the formula could figure out ?
My guess is ET’s rating would increase even if they never set foot in any BLs the entire week.
Just a side-thought:
There are so few servers overall, who all have pretty big differences in coverage and numbers.
We are talking about 20 odd servers, possibly less in the future if merges would happen.
Of those 20, exactly how many can possibly match the coverage and numbers of your own server?Let’s say this system will indeed balance out and end up being good at equal matching.
Than, just like the old system, it would have to match you against those few servers that are simular to yours…How many servers will be ‘equal’ to match against your own server? No matter the system used for this matching.
Don’t we simply risk ending up with a new system, that matches your server against the same 2 or 3 opponents over and over again?
After all: if the system balances out, you can only have so many matching servers…
The randomness can not be this great that it creates more blowous like now, else it would be an unbalanced system.
So, purely by being a good matchmaking system, it would have to put your server against those servers that match.Wouldn’t that be just like the old system than?
One of the few that actually gets it.
…there is no solution….
-not enough servers
- a matchup that in theory should be fair ends up not …because the server that is winning gets the fairweather bandwaggoners out…and the server that is losing will have a bunch of their WvW player base leave for the week….tldr = can’t do anything about human nature. losers quit…winners bandwagon
WvW makes me very depressed with a lot of the community that plays ranger (nobody in particular, just saying).
Off topic, but this reminds me… with the observer mode in pvp, and the possibility to check out the builds ppl are running… omg. O M F G.
The builds. The weapons of choice. Some haven’t even used all of their trait points. Some have traits like Quick draw, despite using axe as one weapon, and greatsword as the other…
This is hotjoin ofc, but still… (and doesn’t apply only to rangers for that matter)
Bad builds and weapon choices are like, my number 1 pet peeve (ask my girlfriend, who plays Borderlands 2 with me, and has no care what she assigns skill points to or the guns she uses, and doesn’t try to learn how it works. I ask her literally every 5 minutes to reassign trait points, and I take the controller from her and equip weapons for her so she can at least be helpful).
.
Soon to be ex-girlfriend
Very nice. Tagging for future reference when I get home to add this to bookmarks.
Two things:
1. Some kind of stealth reveal trait or pet ability. It is unbelievable there is no counter to stealth in GW2.
2. Stationary stealth for Rangers. You can stealth in the open field and stay stealthed as long as you don’t move. Move = unstealthed for 1 minute. Attack = same thing.
They need to just split ranger entirely. Spvp and Pve can be completely separated. Then they can hugely improve on dungeon play for rangers. Probably a silly dream of mine though -.-
agree 100%
too many posts here asking about specs…equipment…strategies etc etc without saying where they play. It makes a BIG difference between PvP, WvW, PvE, dungeons.
It is a big job, but Anet can’t balance a class with a one brush stroke. They need to adjust and tweak it for each venue.
So you play the hand Anet dealt us. Either A. Adapt B. Enjoy death over and over C. Quit
Right now many choose A ..= regen build.
Sorry if that “trolls” you or offends you in anyway.
I’m not offended, I just find the regen spec boring. And I dont think you can tell me that when the guardian/ele/rangers healthpool fills up for third time in one fight you dont feel trolled. You are probably thinking “oh, come ON.”
and it really isnt the only option. I am running cavalier/knights/valks/zerker mix this week because there are no small fights to be found, just DB’s huge zerg everywhere. im looking at 2800 armor, 17.8k hp, 3300 attack, 50%crit and 66% crit damage, and I have the green little kill-me-please first strikes arrow. thieves aren’t so bad, bash+maul= half dead. they either troll stealth until a better opportunity arises, leave, or stick around for a rapid fire through stealth and die.
before this matchup, i was running mostly carrion gear for high health/attack/condi, with traps. i won almost all of my 1v1’s for the weeks we played cd/sos, just because so few GC’s could handle my healthpool+damage, and so few bunkers could deal with all the poison. that spec just isn’t useful in a zerg this week though (600 range on traps an no piercing arrows is fail for big fights).
BM regen is not the only game in town, its the best when youre solo and arguably the worst when you’re with friends. As for Anets changes, skill mergers will allow 10trait point flexibility in various cases, which does create a large amount of build diversity (not to mention the stated pet nerf, necro and warrior buffs already being said flat out).
1. I don’t beat legitimate Thieves very often 1v1. Especially when I was GC. Regen gives me more of a chance…….especially since I am solo 90% of the time. So maybe a better player like yourself can pull it off vs Thieves…I can’t
2. No idea what you are talking about when you mention skill mergers. Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere and don’t know what it means
I like Shanty songs, and this is the toughest fully upgraded camp to solo on the borderland maps, so this video is the combination of two enjoyable things.
Solo camps is mucho fun.
Question though. Why not change pets up for this encounter. Double Drakes + entangle+ torch +1 trap makes this encounter almost boring.
I was lazy and drunk when I filmed this :P .
lmao !
That’s no way to go through life son

Waiting to see what the next patch brings and PRAYING they merge Bow traits to allow me to try something different without sacrificing too much survival.
What excites me about the next patch is the variety it may bring to all fights. Necros with burning+mystery condition, warriors with better condi removal, thieves with less bp+hs abuse (they didnt say anything about this, but i can feel it), if any new ele spec becomes viable, they will flock to it because theyve been bunker for so long.
how rangers turn out really will have to be a result of key skill merges and the BM nerf. If they just nerf BM to hurt BM bunker, they basically screwed the whole trait line. What they should be doing is having pet stats scale a bit off of gear, and providing the ranger with a pet-specific bonus when he places his pet on passive (so that zergs/dungeons arent a horrid anti-ranger experience).
I don’t get too excited of any anticipated patch. I give Anet credit for their patience. They usually don’t overreact with their adjustments.
If the volume on your sound system had a range of 1-100, and Anet was in charge of the volume, and they figured it needed a boost, they would move the dial from 40 to 41, and wait for a month to see how the change worked out.
You will be very disappointed if you are expecting something major.
am i the only one tired of x/x/30/x/30 vids? I mean really, I get it, fotm, run super regen and never die. mad skill. That is about as interesting as bunker ele/guardian videos and its basically the non-thief equivalent of trolling. The trolling gets extra emphasis when you begin the video chasing someone who didn’t want to deal with your regen shenanigans halfway across the map, then spend half the video in the water dragging people through krait.
anyway, i still love your first video. like a good band, ill just wait around for an album to come out that was as good as your first.
lol @ calling this troll shenanigans.
Do you actually believe people would prefer to play a low damage sustain style ? When GW2 was released everyone, including Rangers all pursued damage builds. I mean who doesn’t like to do damage ? People quickly found out that GC builds = death.
You figure if you run with the zerg you would be fairly safe using a GC build ? Nope. The little Precise Strike buff is a red flag to every thief out there. They will come at you in waves and you die very very quickly.
Solo roamer ? Same deal. As a GC you can do ok . It takes more skill with dodging and such. The problem again is Thieves. A GC Ranger is the #2 food group for them right behind up leveled.
So you play the hand Anet dealt us. Either A. Adapt B. Enjoy death over and over C. Quit
Right now many choose A ..= regen build.
Sorry if that “trolls” you or offends you in anyway.
Glad you enjoyed, nice feedback thus far for the most part
…I know GS…but as I have said before, the title says it all!
“kitten but Determined” (determined to be an Archer)
Kalo
Just to clarify. I would prefer to run double bows. I don’t have the skill for it. I need the defense and movement of GS to buy time during some fights. (even S/D).
The things I really really really like about LB is it’s ability to kill thieves with a well timed rapid fire or barrage. When I was on my GC LB kick a couple of weeks ago I wouldn’t really engage vs zergs. I would stand back and wait for thieves to pop on someone. Then it was game on. Did I mention I hate that class ?
I think after the first week the consensus is that this was a good change and is better than the previous method.
There were some lopsided matches, some surprises, some same matches, some servers doing much better than expected. All in all successful I think.
Agree….and the two best things about it ? Got to see 2 different servers this week which was a very nice change after the same stagnant 6 week+ matchup previous….and win or lose, it is only for a week. New matchup tonight that I am looking forward to.
I am assuming you are complaining about dungeons ?
Nice. The way a ranger is supposed to be played…imo. I really like the way you time your barrage by getting it started and moving away before animation completes.
Your endurance regen looks like it is on steroids….and I like how your movements and evades. Like Cempa mentioned, I also would still likely need a GS.
Good work !
I run a similar build, but with a mix of condition damage/precision, I end up having close to 1400 healing power with food and roughly 1100 condition damage along with 28% crit chance (Signet of Rage as elite to boost it up during combat) the only downside is the extreme lack of critical damage from either gear or traits since I go 0/10/30/30/0 with sword/shield + Longbow.
Since I enjoy roaming more than anything, there’s not much use having more than one banner at the time,* so I stick to the banner of tactics for heal & regen since I have heal on shout* and extra CD trait for the other two shout utilities FGJ & SIO which give a nice 2.4k heal on every 20 and something seconds or so, also as a heal I pack Healing Signet because of the passive healing which coupled with 315 regen ticks will give an estimated +550 health per second giving amazing sustainability along with damage nullifiers like Defy pain trait and Shield 5.
It does fairly well in 1v1, the effective counter is indeed condition removals so Guards will be always tough nuts but it doesn’t mean you’ll die too, if I see the fight is going nowhere, I simply CC and get off. Against bursty and conditions removal lackers I normally have the upper hand if they overcommit.
This build deviation is maybe more effective in solo play but in a group setting, yours is probably better at supporting, nonetheless it’s nice to see more Warriors trying different builds other than “burst or die”.
How do you get both banner regen and shout heals ? Both are tactic traits 11+12 and you only get one of them ?
Yep, if I was at home then yes, I could have tested it. Since I am at work and reading about peoples regen builds on the forums, I was curious while doing some theory crafting with the build editor.
Appreciate the suggestion though !
I think the desire to “play to win” is one of the things that keeps people away from the game during a badly lopsided matchup. If you always play to win, but it’s obvious that there is no possible way to win, why should you play at all?
People need to be able to choose their own adventure. Some people will take “our rating goes up” as an acceptable substitute for “we win the match”.
And for some people, just winning the match won’t be enough — they won’t consider it a win unless they both win the match and increase their rating.

That is 100% correct. The win or go home syndrome is what is hurting WvW. The problem is, no matter how Anet decides the matchups, there are going to be mismatches. There are not enough servers to guarantee balanced matches.
That is why ranking has to really be promoted so people see they are accomplishing something…..and at times, accomplishing something against the odds….which always feels good.
Then a new matchup every week to keep things fresh.
I tried 2x sword but find the utility of shield far outweighs the benefits of off hand sword. Condition build is my main build. Pop signet of fury pre battle, arrive in combat with full adrenaline and signet recharged. Mending and Shrug it off for condi removal. Endure pain and block for sustain. Pin Down, Combustive Shot, and Flurry are primary offensive abilities. Leap for mobility.
When you crit with sword you have a chance to apply 3 bleeds per swing. 1 guaranteed from Sever Artery, 1 roll from Sigil of Earth, and 1 roll from Precise Strikes.
This build can be run with Rabid gear too. I tried it out, but I prefer Carrion so other condi builds dont eat you. In wvw I run a little of both to maintain a decent health pool, and crit chance for bleed procs.
Interestingly my build is near identical to yours, just a few differences – http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIEQNAT8ejcOxwNP+OMRCEUBswUwIOPSCqg8SKOjBE-j0xAINBZaRgoKw5wioxWNLiGr6GTHTEVDA-w
I prefer Rabid as 20k seems like more than enough health for me.
Sometimes the copy paste doesn’t transfer correctly. So I was confused about something. You have a condition build with a 62% crit chance ? ….and 0% crit damage.
You gotta get out of the ‘big numbers’ mindset brother. His crit is that high in order to procc his bleeds, which will stack fast and melt targets. Crit damage is not needed for a condition build, and tbh if you have crit damage on a condition build then you are not min/maxing efficiently because those are wasted stat points imo.
Yep, I knew crit damage isn’t needed for conditions..which is why I asked
Precise Strikes …ok, I see what you did here !
Trying to clarify how this works. Applies regen to allies(and yourself) when planted ? So as long as it is planted the regen goes to everyone within 600 units ?
If you don’t have the trait, and plant it. Then no regen for allies, but do you still get regen ?
Thanks
