I have played the game since a little after it was released. I have 2 ascended items…rings that I just had drop recently in WvW. I could buy a couple more jewelry items with Laurels…..armor and weapons? I can’t sell the exotics since they are used. Salvage gets me a piece of wood or something which does me no good.
Even WvW you get dailies. So rings/earrings/amulets can be gotten ascended variety. You also get a discount for ascended jewellery in WvW. Since you do not craft you will get very little to none ascended weapons or armour so if you need to keep them they are soulbound and can only be stored in your personal bank and used by 1 character. Those pieces of wood are worth a lot of money.
Yep, I complete my daily about 25 times during a month. I also finish the monthly. So I have about 200 laurels. I could buy a couple of rings or necks and have a slight improvement of stats…if I bought zerker stats though and wanted to go condi ..or healing…or bunker etc etc then those pieces would need to be stored.
The best answer I see is to use alts as storage. Which is what I will do. That answer was helpful.

Yeah, like most people above me, I’d suggest you make a storage mule. I give each of my storage mules silly names and funky armour I’d never bestow on my mains – just for a bit of a giggle when they’re running around a city doing crafting, banking and whatnot.

…and I am the furthest thing from a hoarder irl …in fact an exact opposite. I use pretty much all of the armor. If in fact there wasn’t something I didn’t use I don’t know how to get rid of it without feeling like I was tossing money down the drain.

I have the same problem. The only feasible solution is change all your exotic gear to ascended gear, so even if you run out of bank space you can purchase another character slot to store your gear.
But that is very expensive.
I end up just not making many gear set. I mean I made a rabid gear for my necro, but never use it, but dont’ want to throw away too. The lesson I learned is stop trying out new build.

Haven’t got it high enough to have storage but I haven’t been repping it because I thought …The 50 slots of storage you gain can only be used for storage of items that are not Account Bound or Soulbound ….how could I store any exotic armor that has been worn in that guild storage?

First you dont need to rep for long, 5g will buy you all the influence you need.
To your other questions, no and no, souldbound will have to be your bank alone.
But I’m sure you have crafting items etc in there and those can be passed on to storage mules
Surely, you have some things in your bank that are neither soul-bound, nor account-bound. Skins, trophies, consumables, whatever. You can move all those to the Guild Vault, and free up storage for soul-bound items.
Yes, a Level 2 character can hold anything. It just can’t equip it, or buy certain items, or consume certain items.

In regards to skins/trophies/consumables/crafting etc. No, I don’t do crafting or anything PvE. I throw a ton of stuff out to make more room. I have a bunch of account bound stuff (can’t remember name)that you get from WvW leveling that people say are valuable for some type of crafting but I can’t sell it so will have to delete that stuff also
I don’t think you’re really using 360 + 400ish inventory slots on equipment.
Really. Would there be any advantage for me to make this up? Do the math. Each set is 14-15 pieces. Sometimes the armor set is fine, but I want to change the Runes. If they are expensive, like Travellers, I buy a repeat of the equipment plus new runes. Rangers have many many different viable combinations.
It has been quite easy to fill it completely up gathering stuff for 18 months.

I have 4 level 80’s. Only used in WvW. I am a build theory craft junkie so I buy lots of different equipment and weapons. Makes it easier to change builds which I do quite often.
I am building up my necro who is at level 52. My bank is pretty much full so I decide I need more storage for his stuff. I find out that I am maxed out for bank slots at 12. Can’t buy anymore?
So I have stopped leveling my Necro since I know there is no room for his stuff when he hits 80.
Apparently Anet doesn’t want any more of my money. Not sure of any reasonable solutions since I use pretty much all of the EQ/Weapons in my bank.
I’m an all or nothing guy. Either build for condis or build for power. Don’t try and do both imo.
Shortbow makes an excellent power weapon though. Only true way to build a kiting Ranger imo.
I mostly agree with you. With SB though, Rampager gear will out damage Dire gear ….and when you think about it, if you do like all or nothing, Rampager is that. Complete damage. Also, in Regards to SB. Unless you are behind someone, then the majority of your damage is direct damage. It increases with power and increases with precision to help direct damage and precision procs.
If you want a condition build you might want to replace ferocity with something that will benefit you more, like toughness or vitality. Bleeding damage is affected by condition damage so power is useless.
Last I checked any weapon that has a condition damage on it also has regular damage. So power isn’t useless. Neither is precision. What it comes down to is how offensive you want to go compared to survivabilty.

Either super servers are coming or contractions/clusters(daoc) are coming. I lived through the daoc clusters, and WvW feels exactly the same as daoc felt before the clusters.

stealth is a passive mechanic that is bad by nature in active combat which gw2 is trying to achieve… can’t believe people are actually trying to defend it.

I think many of the Thief “haters” might somewhat agree with you …to a point. I do agree that great players likely have little problems with thieves. Hell, I have even seen videos of Rangers beating Thieves….go figure.
The problem is, many of the defenders of thieves use the above example that thieves are fine. In reality you can’t use elite players as an indication of balance. You need to use the common man……an average player. Since average is, well, average = majority of the players. Never mind a new player entering WvW or PvP. The average or new player can’t deal with Thieves. Some are determined so they practice and get better. I would bet the majority say kitten it and forget about WvW or PvP. I can’t imagine most game developers (other than Anet) would be happy to see their players run off. Yes, those same new players would likely struggle vs other classes…but at least they can see them.
Then there is a 3rd player. Someone like myself. Maybe a 40% win vs Thieves. Win or lose though it annoys the kitten out of me fighting them. Enough so that I log out many times because even when I win, it just isn’t fun.

It is a solid build for what it does…..very good damage from a distance…a long distance. Good for zerg surfing and picking people off. Also good for killing Thieves that pop on someone else.
When zerg surfing, you have the tools to get away when you rustle someones jimmies by sniping them…cause it hurts. Sometimes they will make a run at you. If you are alert, you will be able to get away, then come back for more. You really shouldn’t have much of a problem staying alive.
What it’s not good for is 1v1 ….(yea I know, there are some that have never lost a 1v1 with this build). A true 1v1 when roaming? Tough gig

Lol do you need to see him? Where does a thief need to position to get a BS? Your back! You should revise how you deal with stealth if because you can’t see him, all counter play is void to you for his one trick pony build.
He can also just hit you from either side and get the back damage bonus. Basically it gives thieves a 75% chance of landing a good backstab.
Personally I don’t care what class is doing it, but there shouldn’t be ANY skills in the game doing such huge bursts. I mean some classes can literally be one shot and that’s not skilled play. It ultimately pushes everyone to have survivable builds, oh I wonder why bunker builds are a big thing…
ArenaNets balance team has failed by every single metric since launch. Conditions are an absolute mess both in PvP and PvE. Rangers…nuff said. Tons of traits are absolutely useless and misplaced in trait lines. I mean the list goes on. If I failed at my job for a single month I would be fired, but here we are 1.5 years in and every patch we get the same trash where things that need fixed weren’t, things that didn’t need changed were, and makes you wonder if they even play the game. They need some new blood on the balance team and most certainly a new direction for where to take balance. Whatever they are doing is not working and it needs to change.
That’s one of the problems, they do play the game. Most games have a test server where the players can test things out. Here? They do it themselves. Did you see the twitch feed when they were introducing the new pvp map? the dev was giddy with excitement talking about how the map was gonna be great for his thieves blinks/teleports. We are in their world.
New blood? Maybe, maybe not. What they do need is some oversight. Someone that is in charge of quality control. Someone that doesn’t play the game so he has no bias towards any class. Someone that reads the forum or talks to a few random players about game flaws. Then goes back to the team and asks why?

Did a few check ups. With 20 stacks of Might I can hit for 13.060 on a Target Golen – Light. If you add a few vulnerability stacks than yes. I can truly confirm this is possible.
Though you need to have a few stars aligned to make that happens on real combat.
I’m not sure if you are trying to say that its difficult to do. Its not, the entire match the samething happened to me over and over. I found it sort of funny, my character didn’t even have dying animation. They just went from standing to laying down.

- top pvp teams only use 1 thief
- most roamers rerolled to engineer ( better 1vXcapability)

Can you make the game fun and enjoyable for the thief as well if they want to not do one role(roaming)…? If you can do that then sure, nerf it thereafter however you want in terms of it’s 1v1/roaming/dueling… I get where you’re coming from but right now playing a thief in a zerg is not fun, it’s annoying and frustrating being melted like helium.
If you’re planning to tell me to re-roll if I want zerg, I have. So if that was your suggestion, I suggest you re-roll a thief if you want to duel (or get your said cheese).That’s really my frustration, getting nerfs, then being targeted for more nerfs… while having to switch to my gaurd/warrior when I want to zerg (WvW, though warriors and guards have better uses in the dungeon too).
Hey, you play the cards you are dealt. I don’t hate the player(other than the ones that blindly defend the class ….which is something you aren’t doing). Why wouldn’t you take advantage of something Anet gives you. I really don’t know the solution…or even if there is a solution.
All I know is I, and many others, think it’s a poor implementation of stealth. Last night I was roaming and bumped into an Engineer. 20 seconds into the fight he stealthed….fought some more then stealthed again = annoying as kitten. When he stealthed a 3rd time I walked away from the fight. Same with PU mesmers. I won’t fight them. Running around in circles swinging my weapons and blindly casting any AOEs I have trying to hit an invisible foe isn’t fun.

Not sure if I would use the word dying. Stagnant maybe. The way it is set up promotes people taking days off …and sometimes the entire week off. My server, SoS, will start a 1 week hibernation tomorrow night because of the match up. Kind of sucks tbh

For the longest time I also was amazed that Anet has ignored this. I’m not surprised anymore after watching a few twitch episodes. Being trolled by a player is one thing. Being trolled by the developer is another.
^^^^ Just a shot in the dark, but don’t PVE creatures tend to focus on enemies based at least in part on toughness? Maybe pets’ toughness is now bugged in some scenarios, which might explain both them not holding aggro, and being more squishy.
Yeah, I think it’s tied to pet toughness. I did a quick test in Frostgorge yesterday when I heard about the wolf damage bug (didn’t know it was PvP only at the time). To see if the wolf really was doing more damage than my kittenomeone had reported.
The wolf (2061 toughness) tanked the mobs just fine. The cat (1374 toughness) … I never attacked the mobs, I just ordered the cat to attack them. What followed was the mob chasing me around for nearly 2 minutes (I did no damage), with the cat chasing it and whittling it down. I don’t think the cat even got hit.
So in all likelihood there’s a new pet toughness bug which is affecting both pet aggro and pet survivability. Low toughness = low aggro, low survivability.
That is exactly the same thing I am finding.

WvW. Something has definitely changed. My canines and kitties got completely pummeled last night. I was only roaming so it wasn’t because of zergs. I eventually put pets on passive but even then they still took damage.
tldr – 100% accurate that something has changed with pets. I find it weird…not really…that they correct instantly a pet doing too much damage ….pet taking too much damage ? nada
well, in EOTM (i just recently transfered so i cannot enter any BL or EGB), my Artdoctus bear (full BM w/Invigorating Bond) can take on a champ alone and win. Takes a bit of time, but it can facetank the champ thanks to me running a regen BM bunker build.
Been doing some solo battles with cat + dog. And i cannot say ive noticed any issues regarding survivability. I can only conclude that it is a “user side” problem, not a “anet side” one.
Before last night I was running a similar build to yours. No issues with the pet. I changed back last night to only 10 in BM…which is what I usually run. I noticed right away when getting stacks that my pets were taking a beating. Way more than usual. Getting stacks I rarely need to worry about the pets health. Now I do. If in fact it was a “user side” issue then it would have shown up the past year and not just since the patch.

Maybe it’s because I have been using a shout build, but when you change pets, they stand there and do nothing until you command them to attack….and this is after the previous pet was fighting….and I hadn’t used a shout for 2nd pet.
Guard Me really makes using the pet labor intensive.
To each their own….and 2 shotting someone is anything but fluid.

its only the vocal minority, everyone I have seen in game, including a max character limit guild all like the patch except for a few.
Unfortunately that minority is very vocal. I should have bought some stocks in Kleenex Tissues before the patch.
Read the Wind is excellent for longbow. I tried it and am really enjoying it. “dodge this”
I am however of opinion that either Read the Wind, Eagle Eye or Piercing Arrows should be default behavior. The competition is rather high on Marksmanship and rather non-existing on Skirmishing.

@ everyone complaining about our Grand Master Traits, you’ve clearly haven’t used them yet, they’re all awesome, RTW makes our arrows impossible to side step and it’s absolutely glorious, it’s like using a gun!
Not to mention Poison Master, Survival of the Fittest and Invigorating Bound may be the greatest things since sliced bread, I mean sure we’ve got scum bag striders defense over there in the skirmishing tree being “meh” but as for all the others they’re all amazing.
Poison master also affect pet abilities. Tested it earlier.

when trying to play as ranger there are just too many traits that seem like they should be combined.
…To be blunt, I just don’t feel that those traits are mandatory. I can understand people feeling this way but they practically aren’t. It is more about making a choice how you want to improve your bow and not to get all at once (theoretical min-maxing).
Your line of argumentation could also justify fusing many traits on other classes just because they are related. The only difference will be that they might be scattered across more traitlines. But does it feel appropriate? Probably not.

You can’t compare Grenades to the Longbow and in its context this trait would be insanely overpowered. Longbow isn’t that powerful when not traited but it is still pretty decent when compared to untraited Grenades which are utterly useless.
Actually, that is something Engineers have been complaining about for ages now. Grenadier is mandatory when running Grenades and your new trait would be, too. As other pointed out, nobody would pick other traits. Which makes your suggestion causing exactly what you critized in the first place.
what about removing the 1% condition duration and add a “increase range with bows by 10” if you trait 30 points into marksmanship your range will be increased by 300 for both bows

However, you’d probably screw with some builds by changing the secondary bonus of Marksmanship. Some people might actually need the additional condition duration.
