Who complained about the raid? I must have missed a post.
No, you didn’t.
It’s him who missed the Reading-before-posting 101 class. I guess because he was too busy raiding and farming mats for his 500Guykittenes Guild.
And that’s exactly the reason why you, myself, and others, don’t want to be in a large guild. I already have my fair share of interactions with obtuse people in real life, no need to extend that pleasure^-1 in game too.
I just tested it, BP + Bound + Steal (with Mug) before the dodge ends still leaves me in stealth (dmg from Mug and Bound still inflicted).
And yes, under Alacrity, teef’s dps goes down the drain compared to most other classes, unless they change Alacrity giving +66% regen to ini.
I think it’s fair that alacrity doesn’t work for thieves seeing how chill doesn’t work
And this is the perfect example of why thief, more than other classes, needs a split between PvP and PvE skills behaviour.
Which classes are fastest at breaking breakbars? I saw warrior discussed above… any others?
Odd that in all that discussion about thief no one mentioned its capabilities of bar breaking from Impact Strike + Uppercut + Palm Strike + Daze on Steal.
And yes, under Alacrity, teef’s dps goes down the drain compared to most other classes, unless they change Alacrity giving +66% regen to ini.
No, I don’t. Running bound dd with staff, full zerker.
I’ve done some math on the subject. Without getting into specific builds, swapping over from full zerker to full marauder will decrease your effective power by 9.2%, but increase your effective HP by 49.7%.
While it is possible to roam around in full zerker gear as a thief, it isn’t too much of a drop to swap out some bits Marauder.
The numbers, as far as PvP mode goes, are -9.516% avg dmg and +48.1% HP.
In PvE/WvW, considering zerker trinkets and marauder weapon/armor (all ascended), we get -4.68% avg dmg and +27.91% HP.
If you use Valkyrie trinkets with Marauder wpn/armor, it’s -7.91% avg dmg and +37.18% HP.
Before swapping equipment, exactly what’s your problem in staying alive in the HoT maps?
I’m currently running on full ascended zerker gear and I tend to die only when I try to solo or duo (with baddies
) HP champions. DD/Tr/CS build with staff ofc.
And talking like that is why the devs probably don’t believe in this class
Please stop with this argument. It’s just not true.
Since day one a LOT of players gave insightful feedback of what was broken-OP and what was under-par about the thief class, without resorting to insult or arrogant behaviour.
No dev gave a kitten about that. So there comes a time when the patience is over, and NOT due to playerbase’s fault.
I’m not sure if it has been pointed out before, but I wanted to vent my disappointment regarding this little, yet exemplary, topic showing how much devs care about our class.
Before HoT and DD, active SoA was there to refill the entire endurance bar. Even the tooltip said so, since day one (the oldest player will remember how it was used back in the day when playing the Haste PW build
).
But now, well, the tooltip remained the same, BUT it actually doesn’t fill the endurance bar anymore if we’re using DD (and who isn’t?), no, the endurance refill remained at +100 and not +150. That’s not a “refill” to me.
Sure, we could live with that, no, we WILL HAVE to live with that, I’m aware that this will never change, but it’s another proof of how little the devs care about our class. This, the Withdraw buff never implemented, still a kittenload of “No valid path” bugs on even terrain… it’s appalling.
As per subject, do they work like a Black Lion (100%) or is there a different (known?) % regarding runes/sigils?
Couldn’t find such an info on the wiki and on this forum search is broken. :\
Add me to fray too.
100% previous map completion of everything else, Verdant Brink completed and no rewards!
Yay, GW2 – the bug with the game around!
They had one in May or June 2014 – Dagger mainhand only hit one target before.
Not true, in the sense that it was not a specific thief buff, they gave 2 targets cleave to the main dagger melee weapon, so it influenced thief as well as necro.
And some small buffs here and there, like the 200 millisecond evade increase of death blossom.
Well…
Thief will get buffs again.
Just quoting this part for a question: “again” compared to WHEN?
This class NEVER had any buff. Never. Ever. In. 3. Years. Since. Release.
Imo it’s easier to fix: bring that 90% to 100% of HPs. Problem solved.
Karl is watching the meta to see if we need it.
He’s training us to be superwarriors.
Patch notes were posted.
Withdraw coeff. was not buffed.
Teef still played in PvP.
Teef doesn’t need the buff.

My point was that for me #3 is mainly a skill that negates immo/cripple almost always, ofc a lot more useful when not using Dash since it overlaps that functionality with the trait.
I’m liking the staff so far, but compared to all of our other weapons, ability 3 is a bit lackluster.
4 ini, remove cripple and immobilize. 1/2s evade. weak damage.I agree. I personally don’t use Staff #3 since I can already cleanse cripple and immobilized using Unhindered (Dash). It’s a waste of weapon skill slot and a waste of initiatives.
One does not always use Dash as a Grandmaster.
I’d like very much to try and use the new 64-bit client.
BUT, big but for me, without SweetFX my eyes just bleed in front of the screen. Are there 64-bit SweetFX dlls to use with the new client?
I just can’t play without the higher sharpness given by SweetFX, to me it feels like I’m seeing the monitor behind huge cataracts.
Another patch bites the dust.
You had such good points before you stated this. By your own logic a deflation will start to happen in the market, that means the the items that new players are finding will start to be ‘valued’ more. This will help new players bringing the overall worth of each thing they find being more than had this happened. If liquid gold is removed from the economy like what happened with dungeons. The wealth between players will start to be traded between each other. This is a good thing because the value goes back to the ‘item’ rather than the piece of coin you getting running X dungeons a day.
Also stop saying people need to pay with a credit card to get their wealth. It makes you look like a childish whiner that does not understand what the gem system actually does.
First of all, it’s not childish, it’s childish to say the contrary. The only TWO means to get gold in GW2 are those: playing and converting gems on the shop.
Furthermore, it’s childish to offend your interlocutor as you just did, but luckily for you I’m too old to waste time on such stupid skirmishes, just because you don’t agree with my conclusion you should propose a counter-argument, not offend, the latter it’s what people do when they lack the former. And it’s not a great display of brightness.
Going back on topic, since you said yourself that you agree with my previous points, it’s clear that, if before we had to spend X to get a luxury item, and since you agree that luxury items will almost retain their current prices (or deflate, but way less than mundane items), that quantity X will remain the same, but the time required to get that money in game will increase.
And increasing the required time, some players will compensate that amount of time with buying from the gem shop. The relative quantity of money got from the shop instead from playing will be ofc a personal matter. But it can’t be denied that this move of gutting the most important generator of liquidity in game (dungeon runs) it’s done exactly for this purpose. And Anet it’s not here to let us have fun, their main interest is to make a profit.
In hindsight, probably the choice of focusing on Living Stories and trying to make profit on the shop instead of firing sooner a paid-for expansion was a bad idea.
Time will tell, if you want we can check out again in some months, and see if there has been a deflation for common items, while luxury items retained their prices. I’d bet on this, I’ll be happy to be disproved.
@Skitz
Here is a definition of inflation for you since you clearly don’t know what you are talking about:
Inflation is defined as a sustained increase in the general level of prices for goods and services. It is measured as an annual percentage increase. As inflation rises, every dollar you own buys a smaller percentage of a good or service.
Notice how it says GENERAL LEVEL, as in, not precursors which you cherry pick as a luxury good to hold up as inflation.
gw2spidy.com
Please use this site to prove how silly you are arguing about inflation. Feel free to check prices on commonly used items, you know, the ones that make armor and weapons to play the game with and not the luxury skin market you want to use as an example.
Econ 101, please sign up for it.
Oh, how I love the spouted half truths just trying to prove one’s own point.
Now tell me, mr econ 101, WHY inflation or deflation happens? Does it have any correlation to the overall amount of money available in a (closed, as is GW2 case) market? Or is it just correlated to the amount of goods available in the same market, with money bearing no influence over it?
If you have a basic knowledge of economy, as you say you have, you know perfectly well that the answer is the former.
What you don’t get is this:
- Prices on the TP for the same item are correlated to the demand/offer equilibrium point AND the overall money available to all players in the market.
- Prices of items bought at vendors are fixed, decided by Anet.
- Availability of money is decided by Anet, which acts as a central bank.
It’s safe to assume that a huge chunk of money injected in the game’s economy came from farming dungeons before the gold reward nerf. Now, that amount has been gutted by a huge margin. That means that, over time, the overall availability of money for players will decrease.
This in turn will create deflation, with prices of the most traded items on the TP lowering. Which would be okay, if not for the fact that some other items needed to craft luxury items, which are the final goal of this game, retain their vendor fixed price. So their relative cost will actually increase.
Moreover, since legendaries are luxury items, they will deflate their prices less than common items, due to scarce availability, which is the case even in the real world.
In the end, the poorer segment of players population will have two choices:
- Play more than before in order to get one of those luxury items.
- Get the money they need from the Gem Shop.
There’s a third one of course: stop playing the game.
Little bit of both, probably 2-10g from the merchant selling all the sigils and such ive gotten, and the rest from the TP.
And that’s exactly what OP is saying.
If we get the best case scenario of your case, let’s say that you got 10g from vendoring/looting coing, and the rest, 70g, from TP.
That means that, from those 70g, you actually removed from the game around 12.35g.
So the net effect of your playing netted a -2.35g regarding the overall money in the economy of the game.
If we take instead 5g for vendoring and 75g from TP, the situation is worse ofc. It’s a -13.23g net.
DisplacedTitan is correct, since the launch of HOT ive made about 80 gold, now i could make more if i put in more time but i wont.
Did you LOOT/VENDOR 80g or did you SELL ITEMS AT TP for 80g?
The two things are completely different.
Evidently “boring farm” is actually a code phrase for “want it right now, more than I want to do a variety of things for fun”.
Evidently, you’re missing the point, which is not “right here, right now”.
Also; lol at saying the fix posted was a nerf… It clearly wasn’t doing what the trait said.
Some of you need a dictionary.
And you need a course in probability 101.
Before the fix, the trait “rolled” everytime to choose 1 out of 5 categories, so 20% prob. for each category skills to be insta recharged.
After the fix, the trait rolls to choose 1 out of 6 categories, so 16.67% prob. for the insta recharge of a category.
So yes, it is a nerf.

the thought process behind the gates for elites is still troubling…and 250 is still too high. anet had to do this..they didn’t have a choice-it wasn’t as if they are doing us a favor by lowering this cap.
they took something (400) that was mind numbingly unreasonable and turned it into 250…something that is still insane. a compromise in the way that getting burned alive is better than being hanged.
no winners here sadly. anet looks like a company completely out of touch with their playerbase.
As I said, 250 it’s ok IF most of the hero challenges in HoT are soloable/not gated behind some high lvl masteries.

It’s a first step. Now, for the second one: make at least 3/4 of the Hero Challenges soloable kitten .

“Hold a gun”.
You know you can just not play, or delay it, do Halloween instead, explore old content without rushing, or just enjoy reading books in Durmand Priory… ?
You know you can also just play HoT without doing CT challenges?
You know you can also not use elite specialisation?
You know that all these things can be done without buying HoT?
The justifications you white knights will put up are astonishing and appalling.
Youre thinking of the guild rush. The Trek only requires you to visit 5 locations and interact with them in a 15 minute time period.
You’re right.
But at the moment, under my missions list, I only have two “Races”, one in Diessa’s Plateau (Devourer Burrow) and the other in Lornar’s Pass (Bear Lope), and iirc those were the old guild rushes.
No.
The guild trek lvl 1 is one of this weeks pve guild missions. That one can be completed VERY EASILY with ONE person.
That gets you the influence you need (more actually).
Groups of 4 and 5 have easily captured a guild hall.
It may take a week or two longer for a tiny guild to get a war room, but it is very very very very possible (very easy actually).
I was under the impression that Guild Treks would work the same as before, i.e. you need at least X different players to complete the race to get the reward.
Now you can do it in solo and get the Favor points nonetheless?
Guys, let me get one thing straight.
I have a very small guild since day one, years ago, and I managed to get some upgrades, notably the guild stash+trove+deep cave.
If I understand correctly, with the new system there’s no more any opportunity to create such a guild and upgrade the guild stash without doing missions, which require a good amount of players? Before we could play in any way we wanted and earn some influence nonetheless, now this is all gone, so new small guilds are substantially shafted, am I rite?

This forum has 64 pages, so I’m not gonna scroll it back, but I do wanna ask a question that maybe already has been asked.
I’m now on 70% of my spec. Some skills are already unlocked, but why I can’t use them?
Why I have to be full 100% to use any skills what I have unlocked already? I want to try out my skills on the new map, and not finishing the new map and then try it. It makes totally no sense at all.
Even though HoT is a mess for me too, especially the HP situation, you’re wrong about this.
I’m at 63,8% of my spec, and I can use what I unlocked, you need to equip the new traitline (only possible in the third-lower slot in the traits panel), then you can use the new weapon/new utilities (ofc, in our case the ones we already unlocked).
OFC, there’s no real reason to equip the elite spec imo if we miss yet the GM traits, but you can do it nonetheless.

I think that’s a little extreme to do before the devs have replied with their plans on whether they’ll change things or not, especially 3 days after the expansions release. The devs need a little time to discuss things and do some tweaking after looking at the feedback in the forums.
Well, this doesn’t mean that they intentionally didn’t decide to gate everything behind a huge grind-xp wall, and the fact that they didn’t mention at all the fact that elite specs would require 400 Hero Points.
It’s like the no character slots fiasco when pre-purchase was available, I’d fire the guys in charge of these decisions, they clearly have no clue whatsoever.
If instead it’s the CEO taking these decisions… well, gg I guess.
So, a review there is useful even in order to tell other people how much Anet cared about players with this profoundly stupid and shady behaviour (it’s stupid not to expect this amount of complaints regarding the elite specs).

I just want to say one thing about these Elite spec requirements: kudos Anet, you managed to go back years, concept-wise, to something very much akin to DAOC’s Trial of Atlantis Master Levels.
Worst.

No worries, use that £850 desktop to player witcher 3: 100 hours of gameplay, all in good fun.
I just got my character slot, finally.
Definitely rather disappointing that when the expansion is up they still haven’t given all the Veteran character slots to those eligible.
Bait and Switch.
1) Make a new spec that looks so good on paper and, probably, during beta WEs.
2) Be hailed by thief players as the savior of the class.
3) Sell expansion.
4) Nerf it to the ground after the expansion is out as it’s always been the case with the thief class.
Just a friendly warning guys.
Come on guys…seriously? Seems to me there’s no difference in outhealing while kitting or disappearing and regen health as you need thus resetting the fight.
The vast majority of good thieves’ players would LOVE to be able to play a non-stealth build without the certainty of being outpowered (not outplayed, mind you) by any other decent+ build.
Acrobatics and Feline Grace salute you.
No game would survive if the developers would bend to the constant requests of small vocal minority, if things would get nerfed/buffed every time someone throw a tantrum on the forums…the game would die before long as people just leave for other games
But apparently it’s ok to bend over to the whining of the LARGE vocal majority of scrubs because, just as an example, “teef op, nerfit coz cant kill it while afk!!1one”.
The expansion was suppose to give “more options” and not “stronger options” which would ruin pvp balance.
Do you actually believe that? I don’t.
A Blast Combo into a Dark Field give invisibility.
Smoke, not Dark. Blast on Dark gives Area Blindness.
The beauty of GW2 has always been to earn rewards the way you want.
This is the right time then:

one problem left: what about the needed ar for the higher fractals? its 15ar every 10 lvl for now and with my full ar equip I achieve 85 ar atm. So basicly i am able to do up to lvl 69. We gonna get infused armors then?
Moar gold sink incoming?
ATM with the actual system 145 AR would be needed for lvl 100. Apart from standard +5 infusions on all slots (14 slots = 70AR), one’d need 75 AR more in Agony Infusions only in trinkets, that means 3×12 + 3×13 infusions → 275.6529G only for the thermocatalytic reagents.
And once it’s out and bought they will probably nerf the kitten out of it really fast. True story too!
Nah, more probably they will nerf d/p, so everyone will NEED to buy hot or gtfo.
